WATCH: Joe Biden’s Senior Moment of the Week (Vol. 49) – Conservative Review

It was a great week for America on the eve of her 247th birthday. The Supreme Court ruled that so-called elite universities could no longer treat vulnerable and historically marginalized Asian students like second-class citizens. The 6-3 decision was a victory for the vast majority of Americans who oppose race-based affirmative action in college admissions.

Alas, it was not a good week for President Joe Biden, a supporter of anti-Asian discrimination. The high court concurred with Nancy Pelosi’s assessment that Biden lacked the authority to cancel student debt without the consent of Congress, and the president’s staff once again failed to prevent him from opening his mouth in public.

On multiple occasions, Biden said Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was “losing the war in Iraq.” He suggested he “may be peaking” with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the actual war that Putin is losing in Ukraine, and confessed to selling “state secrets” during a meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

Most concerningly, Biden barely made it through a softball interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, who giggled like a giddy tween as the president spouted garbled nonsense about the American Civil War of “1960” and wandered off set while the cameras were still rolling like an escaped nursing home patient chasing an ice cream truck.

We also learned that Biden has started wearing a CPAP machine to treat his longstanding sleep apnea, which puts him at increased risk of dementia, cognitive decline, and death.

On that note: Happy Independence Day! God Bless America!

From our Milwaukee, Wisconsin, news desk, Crosstalk brought listeners up to date on stories of interest to Christians worldwide.  Here’s a sample of what Jim presented:  

–In a landmark 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court held that a Colorado graphic designer who wants to make wedding websites does not have to create them for same-sex marriages.

–The Supreme Court also ruled that the Biden administration cannot go forward  with the student loan/debt handout program. 

–In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court swept aside affirmative action.  

–President Biden expressed his displeasure with the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling.

–On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America Reports,” Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Commissioner Andrea Lucas predicted that the Supreme Court’s ruling on racial preferences in college admissions will lead to an increased amount of challenges to already illegal corporate DEI programs and other methods of sneaking in race preferences.

–The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled unanimously for a postal worker in Pennsylvania in an important religious liberty dispute, over how far employers should go to accommodate faith-based requests in the workplace.

–South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is leaving it up to legislators to muster the two-thirds majority from the House and Senate to call themselves into special session regarding carbon-capture pipelines.

–A “Property Rights Roundup” will be held at the State Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, July 6th, in Pierre, South Dakota. 

–A Michigan hate speech bill (HB4474) that has passed the state House and is now in the hands of the Senate, is part of a package of legislation that would replace  Michigan’s existing ethnic intimidation act and make it a hate crime to cause someone to feel terrorized, frightened or threatened.  This could be someone who feels they’re being intimidated because someone is using the wrong pronouns.  Violators would be guilty of a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. 

–A documentary movie is coming out called, “The Essential Church”.  It explores the struggle between church and government throughout history.  

–A suspect from a mass shooting that occurred in 2022 at the LGBTQ bar Club Q in Colorado Springs pleaded guilty on Monday. 

–The Disney Company has suffered revenue losses nearing 900 million dollars.

–Arizona Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs has issued two executive orders to mandate coverage of gender transition treatments under state employee health insurance while at the same time prohibiting taxpayer funds from going toward providers of counseling for unwanted same-sex attraction.

–Overnight summer camps for transgender and non-binary children as young as four are multiplying around America.

–The Satanic Temple created a drag ritual for those who wish to affirm their gender identity and live according to satanic principles.

Merciful Intervention | Alistair Begg Daily Devotional

“In those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.”

Mark 13:19-20

At the very heart of the greatest drama in history is the amazing encounter that’s first hinted at in Genesis chapter 3: Christ is the one who has come, and will come, to vanquish the Evil One. Through His death on the cross, Jesus bruised the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15) and secured eternal victory for His people. But for us the battle is not yet over. Behind every act of hatred, every broken marriage, every act of injustice—all that represents chaos and carnage and wickedness—the Evil One still engages in his skirmishes, seeking to destroy until he himself is destroyed.

The Christian lives in light of this tension, this reality: there will be trials and tribulations for the totality of our earthly pilgrimage, yet we never need to lose heart or hope. We can stand firm in our faith because Christ is the great Conqueror. Though His victory is not yet fully realized or expressed, it is no less complete, for the cross has disarmed Satan and his followers (Colossians 2:13-15).

Jesus warned us that tribulation would take place—and increasingly so until His return. He commands us to “be on guard” (Mark 13:23, 33) that we might not be led astray. In other words, Jesus forewarned us so that we might be forearmed for suffering. When it confronts us, we should not be taken by surprise, because our Captain has readied us.

We are not to be alarmed by “wars and rumors of wars,” by nation rising against nation, or by an increase in devastating natural calamities (Mark 13:7-8). The Lord tells us that some believers will even “be beaten” (v 9), “deliver[ed] … over to death” (v 12), and, above all, “hated by all for [Christ’s] name’s sake” (v 13). In addition, “false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect” (v 22).

In the middle of all the chaos, however, we can remember where God’s focus lies: on His people, His elect. As Jesus Himself said, “for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.” God intervenes on behalf of His own and protects His children from succumbing to perils within and without. He will not let us be pushed beyond that for which He has given us faith to remain faithful through.

Jesus’ warnings resound with an unequivocal declaration of His kingship: no matter what happens—no matter who’s elected, no matter whether your civic freedoms stay or go, no matter if you’re imprisoned, tormented, or even killed for your faith—you can be absolutely sure that our God reigns and our Savior has won. That is firm ground on which to stand, however your life may be shaken.

He Has Made Everything Beautiful in its Time | Place for Truth

It’s hard to imagine what life would be like without time. From scheduling appointments, events, worship services, school calendars, playdates, business meetings, ceremonies, meals, and the like, our entire lives revolve around time. But have you ever considered that time is a gift from God? He created time when He created day and night on the first day of creation (Gen. 1:5). He is the author of “seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night” which He has promised will not cease “while the earth remains” (8:22). He has also “determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their [mankind’s] dwelling place” (Acts 17:26). He determines when a woman will have a baby (see Gen. 17:21). And His Son was “delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God” to be “crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men” (Acts 2:23). Our times are in His hand (Ps. 31:15). And “the time is near” when God will judge the living and the dead (Rev. 22:10-13).

Time was part of the rhythm of Adam and Eve’s life before the fall when there was no weeping, mourning, hatred, war, or death. But after the fall there was fear, shame, blame, hatred, murder, pain, thorns, thistles, and death (Gen. 3:7-19). The poem about time in Ecclesiastes 3 does not turn a blind eye to such things. It describes life in a fallen world. There is “a time to be born, and a time to die” (v. 2). There is “a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” (v. 4). There is “a time for war, and a time for peace” (v. 8).

The Uniqueness of Christ | Bible Apologetics – A DAILY DEVOTIONAL

As one reads the Bible it is impossible not to come away with the realization that Jesus Christ is truly unique. In this short devotion I would like to share eight ways in which Christ manifested his uniqueness.

Unique in His Deity and Humanity (1)

Of all the religious leaders and people who have ever lived Jesus is unique in that He was both fully human and fully God. Jesus was fully God and fully man in one person. Christ, throughout His entire life, was always 100% man and 100% God. This is one of the great mysteries of Scripture. Trying to fully comprehend how this is possible can only be reconciled in the mind of God. We just need to accept this and marvel at the uniqueness of Christ.

Unique in His Conception (2)

Christ was miraculously conceived. While Adam was miraculously created by God from the dust of the earth, only Christ was miraculously conceived through virgin conception. (Matthew 1:22-23) clearly states this: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).”

Unique in Messianic Prophecies (3)

Centuries before His birth we read in the Old Testament numerous prophecies pertaining to His birth, death, resurrection, and uniqueness. Norman Geisler shares the following comments:

“The Old Testament, which even the most ardent critic acknowledges was in existence centuries before Christ, predicted the where (Micah 5:2), the when (Dan. 9:26), and the how (Isa. 7:14) of Christ’s entry into the world. He would be born of a woman (Gen. 3:15) from the line of Adam’s son Seth (Gen. 4:26), through Noah’s son Shem (Gen. 9:26-27), and Abraham (Gen. 12:3; 15:5). He would come through the tribe of Judah (Gen. 49:10) and would be the son of David (2 Sam. 7:12f.). The Old Testament predicted that Christ would die for our sins (Psalm 22; Isaiah 53; Dan. 9:26; Zech. 12:10) and would rise from the dead (Pss. 2:7; 16:10).

“All of these supernatural prophecies were uniquely fulfilled in Jesus Christ. This is not true of any great religious leader or person who has ever lived, including Muhammad.”1

Unique in His Sinlessness (4)

We read in (Hebrews 4:15): “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” We know that all humanity is under the curse of sin – it’s our nature to sin. However, Christ never sinned and as a result was uniquely qualified to paid our sin debt before the Father. No other religious leader can make this claim – only Jesus was sinless.

Unique in His Life (5)

Jesus Christ truly lived a unique life. From His claim to be God, to His message of salvation in no other name but His, to His ability to read minds, to His incredible amount of supernatural miracles, no one has ever led such a unique life.

Unique in His Death (6)

Geisler, again makes the following telling remarks about Christ’s death:

“Events surrounding Christ’s death were miraculous. This included the darkness from noon to 3 P.M. (Mark 15:33) and the earthquake that opened the tombs and rent the temple veil (Matt. 27:51-54). The manner in which he suffered the excruciating torture of crucifixion was miraculous. The attitude he maintained toward his mockers and executioners was miraculous, saying, ‘Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing’ (Luke 23:34). The way in which he actually died was miraculous. As Jesus said, ‘I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord’ (John 10:18). At the very moment of his departure, he was not overcome by death. Rather, he voluntarily dismissed his spirit. ‘Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit’ (John 19:30).”2

Unique in His Resurrection (7)

While there are several accounts in the Bible of people being raised from the dead all of these people eventually died. Only Jesus died, was resurrected, and stayed alive – ascending into heaven. In addition, the Old Testament predicted He would die and be resurrected. And Jesus, Himself, made the same bold prediction right from the start of His public ministry.

Unique in His Impact on the World (8)

Without question Jesus has made a greater impact in our world than any other person in history. Perhaps historian, Philip Schaff, summed it up best when he shared:

“This Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms conquered more millions than Alexander, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science or learning, He has shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of schools, He spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, He set more pens in motion and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise, than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times.”3

Even, H. G. Wells, the famous English writer and historian, commented: “I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.”4

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:7)

Yes, the Lord will be with us in our holy war, but He demands of us that we strictly follow His rules. Our victories will very much depend upon our obeying Him with all our heart, throwing strength and courage into the actions of our faith. If we are halfhearted we cannot expect more than half a blessing.

We must obey the Lord with care and thoughtfulness. “Observe to do” is the phrase used, and it is full of meaning. This is referred to every part of the divine will; we must obey with universal readiness. Our rule of conduct is “according to all the law.” We may not pick and choose, but we must take the Lord’s commands as they come, one and all. In all this we must go on with exactness and constancy. Ours is to be a straightforward course which bends neither to the right nor to the left. We are not to err by being more rigid than the law, nor turn out of levity to a more See and easy way. With such obedience there will come spiritual prosperity. O Lord, help us to see if it be not even so! We shall not test Thy promise in vain.

I love the fact that God is committed to the goal of making us increasingly like Christ…with our permission and cooperation, of course. While not all mysteries are made clear to us (after all, He asks us to walk by faith, not by sight), God explains much of His plan and purpose.

Our Father’s teacher heart is evident by the way many of His instructions are followed by a “so that” phrase.

He instructs us to “Do everything without grumbling or arguing SO THAT you may become blameless and pure.” This helps me understand why a contentious spirit will quickly lead me into impure thoughts and actions.

“I have told you these things SO THAT in me you may have peace” (John 6:33). Jesus had just explained to His disciples how He would send the Holy Spirit to meet their needs. When my peace is interrupted, I need to review the “these things” of Jesus.

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, SO THAT all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16). Whenever I feel inadequate for a task, whenever I need course correction, whenever I need more training for the path ahead, I need to go back to that useful scripture.

Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence SO THAT we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). God’s mercy and grace are ready to be generously given; He just waits for us to freely, boldly, confidently come before Him.

Search for other SO THAT phrases as you read the Bible. God makes just enough of His will and plan known for us to live abundantly because “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, SO THAT we may understand what God has freely given us” (1  Corinthians 2:12).

“Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:6


The wonderful gift of the Gospel is that it changes us not only on the inside (our heart), but on the outside as well (our life). In other words, our lives as Christians should be demonstrated in our daily living. Our lives should validate us on the outside what our hearts believe on the inside.

The spiritual path of a believer in Jesus Christ is not a religious experience. It is a life committed to self-discipline, self-denial and self-commitment to the discipleship of Jesus Christ. To be a servant of God, we must give up the pleasures of self-gratification and selfishness, and learn the power of humility, faith, hope, and love to receive the power of God.

But, you may ask, “How do I live my life for God?” Well, God has given us some very clear instructions in His Word as to how we are to live for Him.

These include the command to love one another (John 13:34-35), the call to follow Him at the cost of denying our own desires (Matthew 16:24), the exhortation to care for the poor and needy (James 1:27), and the warning to not fall into sinful behaviors like those who don’t know God (1 Thessalonians 5:6-8).

Jesus summed up a life lived for God when a teacher of the law asked Him the most important of commandments. Jesus replied, “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31).

It is not possible for those who obey Jesus’ teachings to live lives that are essentially not significantly different than their kind and agnostic neighbors. The life of a Christian should outwardly reflect their inner faith.

Look back at the end of each day and ask yourself if your words and actions have mirrored the teachings of Jesus. As you look forward to the day ahead think about what Jesus would say and do in each situation you face and then live a life so that others would know you are a Christian without your having to tell them.

Lord, I have given my heart to you. I know I am clean on the inside, but help me to not get caught up in the wicked sin of the world and act like the unsaved. Help me to draw apart from the ways of the world and live a Jesus reflected life.

SCOTUS Rules: A Mixed Bag for Racial Discrimination

In a highly anticipated decision, the Supreme Court rightly said that the use of racial discrimination in college admissions is unconstitutional — while leaving the door open for future discrimination.

No one is talking about it, so we will: Just as the death of state-sanctioned abortion is a permanent part of Donald Trump’s legacy, so too is the death of state-sanctioned racial discrimination.

It’s not a bad one-two punch, especially for a one-termer.

In what was perhaps the least surprising and most anticipated Supreme Court decision in, well, 370 days, the majority struck down the racially toxic euphemism known as affirmative action — at least insofar as college admissions are concerned. As the Washington Examiner editorial board writes:

In a clarion call for equal treatment under the law, the Supreme Court today wisely and eloquently rejected race-based admissions programs at Harvard College and the University of North Carolina. Finally, justly, the time has come to make education the colorblind enterprise it should always have been.

The 6-3 court majority recognized “the broad sweep of the Equal Protection Clause” of the 14th Amendment and validated the promise in Brown v. Board of Education that “the right to a public education ‘must be made available to all on equal terms.’” Moreover, wrote Chief Justice John Roberts for the majority, “as the [Brown] plaintiffs had argued, ‘no state has any authority under the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to use race as a factor in affording educational opportunities among its citizens.’”

In a slightly less enthusiastic take, the Associated Press lamented another win for those darned right-wingers: “The decision, like last year’s momentous abortion ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, marked the realization of a long-sought conservative legal goal, this time finding that race-conscious admissions plans violate the Constitution and a law that applies to colleges that receive federal funding, as almost all do.”

Predictably, Joe Biden’s handlers denounced the decision, ostensibly framing it as a usurpation of the right of colleges and universities to discriminate based on race: “For decades, the Supreme Court recognized a college’s freedom to decide how to build a diverse student body and provide opportunity. Today, the Court walked away from precedent, effectively ending affirmative action in higher education. I strongly disagree with this decision.”

Further, Biden took a disgraceful swipe at the High Court, which is the only thing that protects our Constitution from the depredations of the Democrats. After he finished his prepared remarks, a reporter asked Biden a loaded question about whether the Supreme Court was a “rogue court.”

“This is not a normal court,” said our abnormal president.

Joe Biden, like most Democrats, simply can’t see the corrosiveness of racial discrimination — both in how it embitters its victims and stigmatizes its recipients. Chief Justice Roberts, though, who famously said 16 years ago, “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race,” has had about enough of it. Yesterday he put it this way:

The Harvard and UNC admissions programs cannot be reconciled with the guarantees of the Equal Protection Clause. Both programs lack sufficiently focused and measurable objectives warranting the use of race, unavoidably employ race in a negative manner, involve racial stereotyping, and lack meaningful end points. We have never permitted admissions programs to work in that way, and we will not do so today.

But in an odd and discouraging exception, the High Court said our nation’s military academies were exempt from the historic ruling — meaning that West Point, Annapolis, and the Air Force Academy can still use “diversity” as an excuse to discriminate on the basis of race. As The Wall Street Journal reports:

In a footnote within the ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the majority opinion, cited the “potentially distinct interests that military academies may present” when it comes to using race-conscious admissions as reason why “no military academy is a party to these cases.”

What the heck?

To give us a sense of just how race-obsessed our service academies are, they keep a down-to-the-numbers accounting. As the Journal continues: “According to the United States Naval Academy, of the 1,184 midshipmen that make up the Class of 2026, 108 are Black, 117 are Asian and 180 are Hispanic. At the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., 12% of cadets are Black, 10% are Hispanic and 8% are Asian. At the U.S. Air Force Academy, 13.8% of cadets joining the Class of 2026 are Black, 19.8% are Asian, and 16.7% are Hispanic.”

So when Roberts said, “Eliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it,” he meant except for the most patriotic among us: those who volunteer to defend our nation.

As Colorado Republican Congressman Jason Crow, himself a former Army Ranger, said: “This decision is deeply upsetting but outright grotesque for exempting military academies. The court is saying diversity shouldn’t matter, EXCEPT when deciding who can fight and die for our country — reinforcing the notion that these communities can sacrifice for America but not be full participants in every other way. Justice Jackson is right: ‘deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life.’”

Ethan Blevins, an attorney at Pacific Legal Foundation, concurs that the Court’s obsession with “diversity,” a stubborn remnant from its 2003 Grutter v. Bollinger decision, muddies this otherwise right-minded ruling: “While this is a key win for individual rights, the court did not go far enough. The court should have held that race can play no role in university admissions whatsoever. Instead, the court has opted to prop up a feeble precedent that leaves the door ajar for ongoing discrimination.”

But while we can shake our heads in disgust at this exception, this bizarre blight on what should’ve been an unequivocally glorious day, we can also feel good — great, even — for the Supreme Court’s longest-serving member and, along with Justice Samuel Alito, its most rock-ribbed conservative: Clarence Thomas.

Thomas declared that the universities’ “rudderless, race-based preferences … fly in the face of our colorblind Constitution and our Nation’s equality ideal.” He concluded: “While I am painfully aware of the social and economic ravages which have befallen my race and all who suffer discrimination, I hold out enduring hope that this country will live up to its principles so clearly enunciated in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States: that all men are created equal, are equal citizens, and must be treated equally before the law.”

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, too, had some strong words for the concept of affirmative discrimination. Responding to Barack Obama’s claim that his “heart breaks” for the young people “wondering what their future holds,” Scott said this: “Sending the message that somehow the color of your skin means that you will not be able to achieve your goals from an educational perspective, from an income perspective or family formation, that is a lie from the pit of hell. We will not be judged solely by the color of our skin. That’s what the ruling said today.”

The editors of the Wall Street Journal editorial page could barely contain themselves: “The Supreme Court had one of its finest hours on Thursday as it reaffirmed, in logical but forceful fashion, the bedrock American principle of equality under the law. In barring the use of race in college admissions, a six-Justice majority took a giant step back from the racial Balkanization that risks becoming set in institutional stone.”

We’re not so sure. Yes, the Court finally came out fully and forcefully against race-based discrimination, and for that we’re grateful. But we’d be foolish to think that these leftist universities are simply going to honor the Rule of Law and cease their discriminatory admissions practices. Instead, we’d bet our bottom dollar that university presidents across the country have already met with their senior diversity and admissions officers to map out an end-run around this right-wing outrage.

Time will tell. But yesterday was a good day for the Constitution and a bad day, on balance, for the vile concept of racial discrimination.

Clarence Thomas Eviscerates KBJ’s Race-Bait Rhetoric

After the Supreme Court’s 6-3 affirmation of the 14th Amendment by striking down affirmative discrimination, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who is, ironically, Joe Biden’s dependable SCOTUS race-hustler, issued the dissenting opinion. Predictably, she petulantly accused the majority of “let-them-eat-cake obliviousness,” insisting the justices “detached” themselves from “this country’s actual past and present experiences” and the “lived experiences” of the Democrats’ most loyal constituency, black folks.

You won’t find that “lived experiences” standard of justice anywhere in our Constitution’s mandate for Rule of Law over the Left’s rule of men adulteration of our Republic’s founding tenets.

What follows is an excerpt from Justice Clarence Thomas’s response to Jackson’s dissent:

Accordingly, JUSTICE JACKSON’s race-infused world view falls flat at each step. Individuals are the sum of their unique experiences, challenges, and accomplishments. What matters is not the barriers they face, but how they choose to confront them. And their race is not to blame for everything — good or bad — that happens in their lives. A contrary, myopic world view based on individuals’ skin color to the total exclusion of their personal choices is nothing short of racial determinism.

JUSTICE JACKSON then builds from her faulty premise to call for action, arguing that courts should defer to “experts” and allow institutions to discriminate on the basis of race. Make no mistake: Her dissent is not a vanguard of the in-nocent and helpless. It is instead a call to empower privileged elites, who will “tell us [what] is required to level the playing field” among castes and classifications that they alone can divine. Post, at 26; see also post, at 5–7 (GORSUCH, J., concurring) (explaining the arbitrariness of these classifications). Then, after siloing us all into racial castes and pitting those castes against each other, the dissent somehow believes that we will be able — at some undefined point — to “march forward together” into some utopian vision. Post, at 26 (opinion of JACKSON, J.). Social movements that invoke these sorts of rallying cries, historically, have ended disastrously.

Unsurprisingly, this tried-and-failed system defies both law and reason. Start with the obvious: If social reorganization in the name of equality may be justified by the mere fact of statistical disparities among racial groups, then that reorganization must continue until these disparities are fully eliminated, regardless of the reasons for the disparities and the cost of their elimination. If blacks fail a test at higher rates than their white counterparts (regardless of whether the reason for the disparity has anything at all to do with race), the only solution will be race-focused measures. If those measures were to result in blacks failing at yet higher rates, the only solution would be to double down. In fact, there would seem to be no logical limit to what the government may do to level the racial playing field — outright wealth transfers, quota systems, and racial preferences would all seem permissible. In such a system, it would not matter how many innocents suffer race-based injuries; all that would matter is reaching the race-based goal.

Worse, the classifications that JUSTICE JACKSON draws are themselves race-based stereotypes. She focuses on two hypothetical applicants, John and James, competing for admission to UNC. John is a white, seventh-generation legacy at the school, while James is black and would be the first in his family to attend UNC. Post, at 3. JUSTICE JACKSON argues that race-conscious admission programs are necessary to adequately compare the two applicants.

As an initial matter, it is not clear why James’s race is the only factor that could encourage UNC to admit him; his status as a first-generation college applicant seems to contextualize his application. But, setting that aside, why is it that John should be judged based on the actions of his great great-great-grandparents? And what would JUSTICE JACKSON say to John when deeming him not as worthy of admission: Some statistically significant number of white people had advantages in college admissions seven generations ago, and you have inherited their incurable sin?

  • SCOTUS blocks Biden’s student debt cancellation gambit: In a 6-3 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court shot down Joe Biden’s student loan debt cancellation program. Chief Justice John Roberts noted that the Court agreed with the six states that raised the suit against the Biden administration, stating that “the HEROES Act does not authorize the loan cancellation plan.” Biden’s student loan debt cancellation was based upon a precarious rationale that even he had acknowledged was outside the purview of the executive’s power months before he reversed course and did it anyway. Thankfully, American taxpayers will now not be on the hook for paying back loans they never took out in the first place.
  • Big wins for religious freedom: A Christian United States Postal Service mail carrier’s objection to being required to work on Sunday was supported by the U.S. Supreme Court in a unanimous ruling. Gerald Groff sued the USPS for religious discrimination after he was required to deliver Amazon packages on Sundays, widely observed by Christians as their Sabbath day. In Groff v. DeJoy, the justices ruled that the USPS violated the “reasonable accommodation” clause under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which requires employers to “reasonably accommodate … an employee’s or prospective employee’s religious observance or practice” unless it causes the employer “undue hardship on the conduct of the employer’s business.” The issue the justices focused on was the definition of “undue hardship,” which they observed has been effectively used to infringe on religious rights. The Court also handed down a 6-3 ruling in favor of graphic designer Lorie Smith regarding a Colorado law that compelled businesses to provide services for people based upon their sexual orientation irrespective of their personal or religious objection. Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote, “In this case, Colorado seeks to force an individual to speak in ways that align with its views but defy her conscience about a matter of major significance.” He further noted that “tolerance, not coercion, is our Nation’s answer. The First Amendment envisions the United States as a rich and complex place where all persons are free to think and speak as they wish, not as the government demands. Because Colorado seeks to deny that promise, the judgment is reversed.”
  • More trouble for military recruiting: The U.S. military’s recruiting struggles over the last couple of years have been repeatedly reported on. Most of those reports have focused on a shrinking pool of fit and eligible American youth. However, another significant element leading to the recruiting struggles are the shrinking numbers of children of veterans signing up to serve. The Wall Street Journal reports: “The children of military families make up the majority of new recruits in the U.S. military. That pipeline is now under threat, which is bad news for the Pentagon’s already acute recruitment problems, as well as America’s military readiness.” Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen observed: “Influencers are not telling them to go into the military. Moms and dads, uncles, coaches and pastors don’t see it as a good choice.” Much of this is due to disillusionment over the hard-leftist ideology that has been increasingly injected into the military, beginning under Barack Obama and continuing today with Joe Biden.
  • Thousands stranded due to flight cancellations: Since Monday, over 9,000 flights have been canceled and almost 116,000 have been delayed, leaving thousands of travelers stranded at airports across the nation and causing much frustration. That frustration has boiled over in instances of unruly passengers, which an apparently obtuse Federal Aviation Administration responded to by issuing “joking warnings” against such behavior. Of course, this only caused more frustration among travelers, who blasted the FAA for the cancellations for failing to get its act together. The cause of the cancellations and delays has been attributed to bad weather. However, the FAA’s new 5G regulation mandate that goes into effect on July 1 has likely contributed to the problem. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg admitted last week that with roughly 20% of domestic airlines yet to be equipped for preventing 5G interference, “there’s a risk of delays or cancelations.”
  • Sanctuary city mess… New York City is now housing over 100,000 people in its homeless shelters, with over 50,000 of those people being illegal immigrants. Since Democrat Mayor Eric Adams came into office earlier this year, the city has spent over a billion taxpayer dollars on housing these illegal aliens, and estimates are that over $4 billion will be spent next year as more migrants come into the city. Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isom, noting that 2,500 migrants entered last week alone, bemoaned that “if there was a national coordination of this, then the burden wouldn’t be so much on New York City.” Tell that to the residents of El Paso and other border cities that have been overrun with migrants thanks to Joe Biden’s border malfeasance. It is indeed rich that officials of these self-declared “sanctuary cities” like New York immediately begin moaning and demanding help as soon as they experience just the slightest bit of inconvenience they have explicitly invited.
  • Is Canadian smoke racist? Given the fact that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a well-documented history of dressing up in blackface, the question of whether smoke from massive wildfires currently consuming swaths of America’s northern neighbor and blanketing much of the eastern U.S. is racist might be deserved. But that is not why the Associated Press has posited such a ridiculous question. In a recently released video, the AP asserts that the Canadian smoke disproportionally affects poor blacks living in the inner city, particular in Detroit. A black man in the video states: “Many communities face this way too often, right? While this wildfire smoke allows unfortunately many people to feel this burden. This is a burden that far too long communities have faced day in and day out.” The video effectively amounts to anti-white and anti-suburban propaganda.

Capping Off Pride Month

It has been an interesting June, for good and ill.

This June has been a wild ride in terms of the culture wars. Pride Month, the most sacred in the liturgical LGBTQ+ calendar, is coming to a close. This June, however, was markedly different than in years past.

Pride Month started early with things getting underway in late May. Target decided to employ a satanist for some of its pride merchandise. That, along with “tucking” swimsuits, was finally a bridge too far for the public at large. Target got the Bud Light treatment and quickly saw enough financial losses to give it pause.

Once we officially got into the month of June, this early rebellion against the Rainbow Mafia’s tyranny set the tone for the rest of the month. The best way to describe all that happened next can be categorized into a good news/bad news dichotomy — a binary, if you will.

Bad News: MLB

America’s favorite pastime, baseball, has been front and center this June. First, the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to honor an anti-Catholic hate group, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, at their Pride Night event. This inspired public backlash from several players.

The Toronto Blue Jays decided to make an example of one of their pitchers, Anthony Bass, who dared to post an Instagram video supporting the Target and Bud Light boycotts. Bass was forced to apologize and was essentially fired.

Good News: MLB

Virtually no one showed up to the Dodgers’ ceremony honoring the Sisters, but plenty of protesters outside the stadium expressed their opinion of the Dodgers honoring a hate group.

Bad News: Science Denial

A major scientific study was censored by a “prestigious” scientific journal, Springer Nature, because the research proved that transgenderism was a social contagion.

Dr. Johnson Varkey, a human anatomy and physiology professor at St. Philip’s College in Texas, was fired for teaching accurate science. Since 2003, he has taught that sex is determined by the presence of XX or XY chromosomes. But in November 2022, students walked out when that fact was stated. He was fired because students called accurate science “religious” and “discriminatory.” In January 2023, he was officially fired and is currently in the midst of a court battle to get reinstated.

Good News: Following the Science

Many countries in Europe have severely restricted the use of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers in the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and teens. Countries like the UK have been leading the way in walking back the counterproductive “gender-affirmation care” method.

A study out of Duke University — not typically considered a conservative-leaning school — found that 69.6% of people who identify as one of the plethora of alternate genders end up switching their identity back to straight after six years. (It’s almost like it’s a social contagion.)

Bad News: Pride Parades and Nudity

To paraphrase political pundit Ben Shapiro, pride parades have pride-paraded all over the place. In other words, the people attending these parades are seeing what they are really all about for the first time. Several parades featured naked men on bikes totally exposed to children who were in attendance. This was in addition to the usual promotion of kink and sex acts.

Good News: Indoctrination Is Admitted

The NYC Drag Queen Parade’s marchers chanted: “We’re here. We’re queer. We’re coming for your children.” At least they are no longer hiding the ball. They are indeed stating that their main aim is to pervert the moral teachings of parents and destroy culture. This admission of indoctrination is a victory of some some sort. Now there’s no excuse for fence-sitters.

Bad News: Groomer Summer Camps

Almost a dozen summer camps for “trans” kids have cropped up around the country. Some of them are overnight camps, and some are day camps for kids as young as four. Many of these camps are exclusively for “trans” kids. Other LGBQ+ kids are not welcome. None of these camps allow parental involvement (or if they do, parents/caregivers can only help with an activity that their child is not in). Some camps even offer “enrichment” such as “exploration of trans history and trans-focused sex education.” But don’t worry — the starting age for this “educational” course is 12. Some camps even offer free chest binders to gender-confused girls. There are only 11 camps this year; next year there will be exponentially more.

Good News: The Boycotts Are Working

The concerted boycott of both Anheuser-Busch and Target have had a huge impact. Target had to move its pride collection to the back of the stores and discontinued its collaboration with the UK-based, trans-identifying satanist. Anheuser-Busch has seen a steady and detrimental decrease in sales. The CEO still won’t apologize to his customers for such a bad marketing blunder. So intense has been the pushback from the consumer base that other companies such as Starbucks did a more muted or nonexistent pride display.

Bad News: The Fall of the Episcopal and Methodist Church

Last week, our Mark Alexander wrote extensively about the collapse within the Episcopal Church. He observed that the infiltration of the church by the Left “is not motivated to placate their gender-dysphoric constituents but to empower government by eroding Liberty, the nemesis of their statist agenda. They know that the best way to accomplish that is to attack faith and family, starting with children.” The Episcopal Church is a prime target because it has deep roots in American history and is one of the wealthiest church denominations. The Methodist Church, which is also going through a schism between a more conservative- and more progressive-leaning branch, is fairing no better. (Good news: There is still a conservative branch of the Methodist Church.)

Bad News: Pronoun Police on the New York Subway

According to the National Pulse, “Posters threatening that those who do not ‘respect trans people’ will end up with the pronouns ‘was/were’ have sprung up on the New York City Subway.” It comes off like a death threat, which, knowing the trans activists, is not out of the realm of possibility.

Good News: Slurs and Harassment Condemned on Twitter

Elon Musk made the terms “cis” and “cisgender” slurs on his social media platform. They are slurs against normal people who identify as their biological sex. Previously, the proscription on the use of these slurs against conservatives and others who dare to disagree with gender ideology has not really been enforced. Not anymore — there’s a new sheriff in town!

Good News: Poll

In a poll conducted by McLaughlin and Associates, most people declared that they want business to stay out of politics and the culture wars and stick to business. It was a whopping 73% of respondents.

Good News: Pride Month Alternatives

The pushback against Pride Month has been particularly strong this year. People have all sorts of alternative suggestions to counter the saturation of the month with the LGBTQ+ agenda. One Princeton professor suggested dedicating the month of June to the virtue of fidelity.

Conservative Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey has been celebrating this month as the Noahic Covenant Month in an awesome attempt to reclaim the significance and sacredness of the rainbow.

Our Catholic friends have long dedicated June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, another worthy option.

All these alternatives seek to point our nation back to the truth and values on which we can continue to build our nation.

The Wrap-Up

Because of “tolerance” and going along to get along, “pride” has turned from a one-day to one-week to one-month affair (along with all the other various and constantly made-up days to celebrate LGBTQ+ throughout the year). Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine recently tried to declared the whole summer a “summer of pride.”

But the truly nice thing that June 2023 has shown is that there is more of a pushback happening against gender ideology.

Sexual deviancy should not be given any celebration, especially when our brave American soldiers past and present are only honored a few days a year.

The Left’s Trans Suicide Lie

A massive study out of Denmark shows that “transgender” people have a significantly higher suicide rate, which is the exact opposite of what the trans activists have long claimed.

One of the weapons used by transgender activists is their claim that our failure to support a gender-dysphoric person’s desire to “transition” is a form of abuse. Worse yet, they say this lack of support may lead to suicide.

Talk about a guilt trip.

But a revealing and disturbing study from Denmark published by the Journal of the American Medical Association paints a completely different picture, and the results are sure to raise questions about all those warnings of suicide.

The study of seven million people over four decades found that transgenders in Denmark have a much higher rate of suicide than the general population. Keep in mind, these are people who’ve already partially or fully transitioned, and they’re living in a progressive country that’s more accepting of the trans culture than other countries. Try being trans in Saudi Arabia, for example.

“Transgender people in the country,” reports The New York Times, “had 7.7 times the rate of suicide attempts and 3.5 times the rate of suicide deaths compared with the rest of the population, according to the records analyzed in the study, though suicide rates in all groups decreased over time. And transgender people in Denmark died — by suicide or other causes — at younger ages than others.”

This, of course, is in stark contrast to all those media reports about how kids who want to switch their biological sex are at greater risk of suicide if conservatives don’t acquiesce. And all those heartwarming stories we see on the news about trans kids feeling happy and excited about their new life might be called into question now that we know the facts.

But it’s not just Denmark where transgenders are feeling more suicidal. As the Journal of the American Medical Association notes: “An even higher suicide mortality rate (270 per 100 000 person-years) was reported for Swedish transgender individuals undergoing gender identity-affirming surgery during 1973 to 2003. A recent population-based study using data from general practitioners and death statistics in England between 1988 and 2019 reported 3 to 5 times increased mortality from either suicide or homicide among transgender and gender-diverse individuals compared with non-transgender individuals.”

According to U.S. News, the study also found that 43% of transgenders had a psychiatric diagnosis while just 7% of the non-transgender group did.

This might be the most interesting part of the study. After all, it raises critical questions about whether the trans industry might be pushing treatments and surgeries on children whose real problem might be getting swept under the rug.

“The astronomically higher suicide rates among transitioned or transitioning patients certainly indicates widespread malpractice, or at the very least widespread dissatisfaction with the outcomes of sex-change operations and therapies,” writes Ed Morrissey at Hot Air. “The data strongly demonstrates that such ‘therapies’ leave patients much worse off than when they started, and doesn’t touch the actual medical issues in play.”

Morrissey adds, “This data should force the medical establishment — and perhaps more importantly, insurance companies that provide malpractice coverage — to completely rethink their embrace of sex-change treatments, especially in pediatric settings.”

One hopes this study might lead transgender activists and the politicians who support them to reconsider reflexively giving children puberty blockers and setting them up for irreversible surgeries instead of properly diagnosing them. Otherwise, we’ll see an epidemic of post-trans regret experienced by people like Milo, made famous in 2016 on MTV for transitioning from female to male. Back then, Milo was celebrated for daring to undergo testosterone shots, a hysterectomy, and “top removal” after the show aired.

As the Daily Mail reports: “Sitting beside him, Milo’s supportive mom, Kristin, described the ‘horror stories’ she had heard about trans kids committing suicide. In hindsight, those comments from Milo and Kristin were red flags. Today, many parents complain that doctors and therapists bully them into affirming their child’s decision to transition by suggesting that, without support, they would likely take their own lives. Now Milo says she’s ‘ashamed’ of the documentary and ‘can’t bear to watch’ it.”

The battle to protect our children continues, and we have a long way to go. But this Danish study might be a turning point.

A Tale of Ten Million ‘Peanuts’

The DOJ’s bald-faced meddling in the Hunter Biden case has been further exposed, along with the audacious graft and easy greed of the first son.

Yesterday’s landmark Supreme Court decision, which struck down the vile and corrosive practice of racial discrimination in college admissions, dealt a heavy blow to Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats.

But it also served as a much-needed distraction.

Indeed, just when it seemed like The New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media had been dragged kicking and screaming into the coverage of the Biden Crime Family’s cascading list of outrages and its preferential treatment by a corrupt FBI and a corrupt Department of Two-Tiered Justice, a much-anticipated Supreme Court ruling runs Huntergate off the front page.

But not for long. The momentum against the Biden Crime Family (BCF) is building. As the American Spectator’s David Catron writes:

Something changed last week inside the Beltway that suggests the people who run the Democratic Party now realize President Biden’s tenure in office is not sustainable beyond 2024. The “tell” was not, however, the latest revelation by IRS whistleblowers about his corrupt administration. It was instead the sudden awakening of the White House press corps. The same “reporters” who snored through more than two years of preposterous claims by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and her predecessor simultaneously woke up Friday. Correspondents from media outlets CNN, CBS, NBC, and even the New York Times aggressively questioned Jean-Pierre about the metastasizing Hunter Biden scandals.

Earlier this week, we reported that the BCF and the DOJ were being further exposed by an intrepid whistleblower, IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley, who shed new light on the glaring discrepancy between what Attorney General Merrick Garland had testified to before Congress and the heavily corroborated facts as laid out by Delaware-based federal prosecutor David Weiss — namely, that he, Weiss, had been thwarted in his investigation of Hunter Biden at nearly every turn by Joe Biden’s Department of “Justice.”

Since then, we’ve also learned, by way of special agent Shapley’s jaw-dropping interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier, that “critical steps in the federal investigation into Hunter Biden were put ‘on the back burner’ as the 2020 presidential election approached.” Shapley said that the most serious and legitimate felony charges against Biden “were left off the table,” and he reiterated his claim “that that the entirety of the Justice Department’s probe into the president’s son was influenced by politics.”

Shapley said that DOJ prosecutors ordered investigators to avoid asking witnesses questions about Joe Biden and chose not to execute search warrants involving Hunter. “We weren’t allowed to ask questions about ‘dad,’” he said. “We weren’t allowed to ask about ‘the big guy.’ We weren’t allowed to include certain names in document requests and search warrants. So … we were precluded from following that line of questioning.”

It gets worse. Way worse. Shapley says that when investigators tried to execute search warrants in several locations in mid-2020, just as the 2020 presidential election was heating up, “the prosecutors at the time stated that probable cause had been achieved. But as we moved closer to the election, it just seemed like they kept putting it on the back burner and they eventually didn’t allow us to do that search warrant, even though the legal requirements to execute that search warrant were met.”

And here’s the kicker from Shapley regarding yet another aborted search warrant, this one on a storage unit in Northern Virginia, which they had good reason to believe had evidence related to their investigation and which prosecutors originally supported:

Eventually, the prosecutors decided they didn’t support it. So I called U.S. Attorney David Weiss, with my senior executive on the phone. … And no sooner I had gotten off the phone with David Weiss had we learned that the prosecutors were informing defense counsel of that storage unit and the evidence that existed there. So it completely ruined our chances to access [that evidence] unfettered.

Election interference, anyone? Anyone?

On Wednesday, we went so far as to say that AG Garland is lying about who was calling the investigative shots throughout Hunter Biden’s sweetheart deal, and we suggested that the best tool Republicans have as a party that controls just one-half of one-third of the federal government is impeachment. Nothing that’s happened since then has dissuaded us.

Something has further prejudiced against the Biden Crime Family, though — namely, another WhatsApp message, this one sent from Hunter to a Chinese “business” associate named Gongwen “Kevin” Dong on August 3, 2017. As the New York Post transcribes it:

“K- Very simple: 10 M per annum budget to use to further the interest of the JV,” Hunter wrote. “This move to 5M is completely new to me and is not acceptable obviously … if the Chairman doesn’t value this relationship is being worth at least 5M, then I’m just baffled.”

The now-first son concluded his message by writing: “Please let’s put this to bed tonight [and] sign officially tomorrow (or anytime as late tonight as you want) and get to work. I am tired of this Kevin. I can make $5M in salary at any law firm in America. If you think this is about money it’s not.

“The Biden’s [sic] are the best I know at doing exactly what the Chairman wants from this partnership. Please let’s not quibble over peanuts.”

That’s right. According to Hunter Biden, his family is unmatched when it comes to selling out the United States and sucking up to the ChiComs. And $10 million is peanuts.

We’d love to know what ol’ Scranton Joe Man-of-the-People Biden thinks of that.

The Department of Justice is prepared to seek indictments against multiple figures in former president Donald Trump’s orbit and may yet bring additional charges against the ex-president in the coming weeks, The Independent has learned.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the department has made preparations to bring what is known as a “superseding indictment” — a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes — against the ex-president in the Southern District of Florida.

But prosecutors may also choose to bring additional charges against Mr Trump in a different venue, depending on how they feel the case they have brought against him in is proceeding.

The Independent understands that prosecutors’ decision on whether to seek additional charges from a grand jury — and where to seek them — will depend in part on whether they feel the Trump-appointed district judge overseeing the case against him in the Southern District of Florida, Aileen Cannon, is giving undue deference to the twice-impeached, now twice-indicted former president.

Sources say this tragic ruling will adversely affect the lives of thousands of feminists who will no longer be able to afford blue hair dye, and may now have to find a rich man to marry them. “How could the poors be so coldhearted to our suffering?” said Barnes. “Curse you, Clarence Thomas!”
