Why would God say that homosexuality is wrong?

A lot of people want logical reasons that seem more satisfying than, “God said so.” But, on the other hand, you’re talking about the One who created the universe, who’s wisdom and knowledge so surpass ours. What human could have invented the brain or human eye, or ocean life, or the water cycle, or the navigation of the sun and its appropriate distance from earth, etc.? God has been gracious to let us see his reasons behind some of what he’s said, but when you look around, there is ample reason to simply trust his wisdom.

However, if you want some explanation for why God might have outlawed homosexuality, along with adultery, child abuse, prostitution, etc., here are some reasons that come to MY mind:

-AIDS

-inability to raise children with proper sexual orientation

God’s desire to heal a person rather than have them live with a confused identity. Homosexuality often reveals harm done to a person by an adult (usually). Many times they have developed a confused view of their sexual identity due to incest, sexual abuse, or emotional abuse. This person may have developed a guarded, protected and skeptical view of the opposite sex. So, to say to God, “Explain why you’re against homosexuality,” his answer might be, “Because I’m against abuse done to others and the conflicting feelings that arise from that mistreatment. Just like a broken leg should not be walked on and pretend that everything is normal, that leg should be brought back to health.”

The person may have been led into homosexuality by false information. In the past, homosexuality was recognized as a sexual and emotional disorder in our society – that has changed partly due to the gay/lesbian agenda to normalize it, and partly because any sex with anyone, any time, even with a child is being promoted by many. This thinking can encourage someone to develop homosexual feelings, instead of a healthy relationship with someone of the same sex. Rather than a friendship that is holy in God’s eyes, it becomes sexual, because sexual experimentation and gratification is so valued and encouraged. All of it is less than what God wants a person to experience in their life.

God says that homosexual behavior should be viewed the same way as adultery, fornication, sexual immorality, prostitution. God wants our relationships to be fulfilling and holy. Outside of marriage, sexual involvement is not the way to build an intimate, close relationship with someone. God is not opposed to intimacy, but to sexual immorality.

“avoid sexual immorality…each one of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust…and that no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him…for God did not callus to be impure, but to live a holy life.” (1 Thes 4)

Only God can meet our deepest need for love, because only God loves us perfectly. It is God’s nature to love us, but we will only experience that love when we come into a relationship with God, which is explained here: everystudent.com/features/gettingconnected.html
