Discipleship 2.1 Assurance of Salvation: Saved Forever

There’s something so important I want you to understand. You are saved by your faith in Jesus. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Imagine a life raft coming to save you from drowning in the ocean; you have to reach out and grab it—and hold on. That’s what you did when you put your trust in Jesus as your Savior and the Son of God. You said, “Jesus, I need saving, and I believe You are the only One who can do it.” And that is what Jesus did when He died on the cross; He swam across the ocean of your sin to rescue you forever.

Now the end destination is heaven with Jesus when you die. But your eternal life starts today—the moment you put your faith in Jesus. The Bible promises, “I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW you have eternal life”.

This will help you understand exactly what the life raft (Jesus’ sacrifice) did for you: http://www.godlife.com/look-to-jesus/jesus-has-saved-me.

Do you truly believe in your heart that you have the eternal life Jesus has promised you?
