Cal Thomas: The Condition of Evil in a Culture of Death

In the discussion and debate over the horrible shootings in Aurora, Colo., the media and their interview subjects have treated evil as an act and not a condition. A better subject than more gun laws to control evil acts would be how did evil come to be and why does it lurk in all of us at different levels?

Evil is a spiritual condition, promoted by our great enemy who goes by many names, including Satan and Lucifer. A culture of death cares little about aborted babies, but much about moviegoers who were shot and killed. People who die at the hands of others are to be mourned, whether in the wombs or in a theater.

Disrespect for pre-born life brings disrespect for life that has been born. Evil cannot be eliminated, so it must be controlled. More laws won’t do it because someone intent on evil will always find a way to get a weapon. Millions were killed in battles before gunpowder was invented.

Read in scripture the pattern of the end times and see if they don’t fit what is happening in our world today. And pray for the victims in Aurora and their families.
