The Immutability of God

(by 19 year old pastor in London at his inaugural sermon in his pastorate)

Charles Haddon Spurgeon  January 7, 1855; From: New Park Street Pulpit Volume 1

The Immutability of God

“I am the Lord, I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” —Malachi 3:6

It has been said by some one that “the proper study of mankind is man.” I will not oppose the idea, but I believe it is equally true that the proper study of God’s elect is God; the proper study of a Christian is the Godhead. The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of a child of God, is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls his Father. There is something exceedingly improving to the mind in a contemplation of the Divinity. It is a subject so vast, that all our thoughts are lost in its immensity; so deep, that our pride is drowned in its infinity. Other subjects we can compass and grapple with; in them we feel a kind of self-content, and go our way with the thought, “Behold I am wise.” But when we come to this master-science, finding that our plumb-line cannot sound its depth, and that our eagle eye cannot see its height, we turn away with the thought, that vain man would be wise, but he is like a wild ass’s colt; and with the solemn exclamation, “I am but of yesterday, and know nothing.” No subject of contemplation will tend more to humble the mind, than thoughts of God. We shall be obliged to feel—

“Great God, how infinite art thou,
What worthless worms are we!”

But while the subject humbles the mind it also expands it. He who often thinks of God, will have a larger mind than the man who simply plods around this narrow globe. He may be a naturalist, boasting of his ability to dissect a beetle, anatomize a fly, or arrange insects and animals in classes with well nigh unutterable names; he may be a geologist, able to discourse of the megatherium and the plesiosaurus, and all kinds of extinct animals; he may imagine that his science, whatever it is, ennobles and enlarges his mind. I dare say it does, but after all, the most excellent study for expanding the soul, is the science of Christ, and him crucified, and the knowledge of the Godhead in the glorious Trinity. Nothing will so enlarge the intellect, nothing so magnify the whole soul of man, as a devout, earnest, continued investigation of the great subject of the Deity. And, whilst humbling and expanding, this subject is eminently consolatory. Oh, there is, in contemplating Christ, a balm for every wound; in musing on the Father, there is a quietus for every grief; and in the influence of the Holy Ghost, there is a balsam for every sore. Would you lose your sorrows? Would you drown your cares? Then go, plunge yourself in the Godhead’s deepest sea; be lost in his immensity; and you shall come forth as from a couch of rest, refreshed and invigorated. I know nothing which can so comfort the soul; so calm the swelling billows of grief and sorrow; so speak peace to the winds of trial, as a devout musing upon the subject of the Godhead. It is to that subject that I invite you this morning. We shall present you with one view of it,—that is the immutability of the glorious Jehovah. “I am,” says my text, “Jehovah,” (for so it should be translated) “I am Jehovah, I change not: therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

There are three things this morning. First of all, an unchanging Godthe persons who derive benefit from this glorious attribute, “the sons of Jacob;” and thirdly, the benefit they so derive, they “are not consumed.’ We address ourselves to these points.

I. First of all, we have set before us the doctrine of THE IMMUTABILITY OF GOD. “I am God, I change not.” Here I shall attempt to expound, or rather to enlarge the thought, and then afterwards to bring a few arguments to prove its truth.

1. I shall offer some exposition of my text, by first saying, that God is Jehovah, and he changes not in his essence. We cannot tell you what Godhead is. We do not know what substance that is which we call God. It is an existence, it is a being; but what that is, we know not. However, whatever it is, we call it his essence, and that essence never changes. The substance of mortal things is ever changing. The mountains with their snow-white crowns, doff their old diadems in summer, in rivers trickling down their sides, while the storm cloud gives them another coronation; the ocean, with its mighty floods, loses its water when the sunbeams kiss the waves, and snatch them in mists to heaven; even the sun himself requires fresh fuel from the hand of the Infinite Almighty, to replenish his ever burning furnace. All creatures change. Man, especially as to his body, is always undergoing revolution. Very probably there is not a single particle in my body which was in it a few years ago. This frame has been worn away by activity, its atoms have been removed by friction, fresh particles of matter have in the mean time constantly accrued to my body, and so it has been replenished; but its substance is altered. The fabric of which this world is made is ever passing away; like a stream of water, drops are running away and others are following after, keeping the river still full, but always changing in its elements. But God is perpetually the same. He is not composed of any substance or material, but is spirit—pure, essential, and ethereal spirit—and therefore he is immutable. He remains everlastingly the same. There are no furrows on his eternal brow. No age hath palsied him; no years have marked him with the mementoes of their flight; he sees ages pass, but with him it is ever now. He is the great I AM—the Great Unchangeable. Mark you, his essence did not undergo a change when it became united with the manhood. When Christ in past years did gird himself with mortal clay, the essence of his divinity was not changed; flesh did not become God, nor did God become flesh by a real actual change of nature; the two were united in hypostatical union, but the Godhead was still the same. It was the same when he was a babe in the manger, as it was when he stretched the curtains of heaven; it was the same God that hung upon the cross, and whose blood flowed down in a purple river, the self-same God that holds the world upon his everlasting shoulders, and bears in his hands the keys of death and hell. He never has been changed in his essence, not even by his incarnation; he remains everlastingly, eternally, the one unchanging God, the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither the shadow of a change.

2. He changes not in his attributes. Whatever the attributes of God were of old, that they are now; and of each of them we may sing “As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.” Was he powerful? Was he the mighty God when he spake the world out of the womb of nonexistence? Was he the Omnipotent when he piled the mountains and scooped out the hollow places for the rolling deep? Yes, he was powerful then, and his arm is unpalsied now, he is the same giant in his might; the sap of his nourishment is undried, and the strength of his soul stands the same for ever. Was he wise when he constituted this mighty globe, when he laid the foundations of the universe? Had he wisdom when he planned the way of our salvation, and when from all eternity he marked out his awful plans? Yes, and he is wise now; he is not less skillful, he has not less knowledge; his eye which seeth all things is undimmed; his ear which heareth all the cries, sighs, sobs, and groans of his people, is not rendered heavy by the years which he hath heard their prayers. He is unchanged in his wisdom, he knows as much now as ever, neither more nor less; he has the same consummate skill, and the same infinite forecastings. He is unchanged, blessed be his name, in his justice. just and holy was he in the past; just and holy is he now. He is unchanged in his truthgoodness, and generosity, and benevolence of his nature. He is not become an Almighty tyrant, whereas he was once an Almighty Father; but his strong love stands like a granite rock, unmoved by the hurricanes of our iniquity. And blessed be his dear name, he is unchanged in his love. When he first wrote the covenant, how full his heart was with affection to his people. He knew that his Son must die to ratify the articles of that agreement. He knew right well that he must rend his best beloved from his bowels, and send him down to earth to bleed and die. He did not hesitate to sign that mighty covenant; nor did he shun its fulfillment. He loves as much now as he did then, and when suns shall cease to shine, and moons to show their feeble light, he still shall love on for ever and for ever. Take any one attribute of God, and I will write semper idem on it (always the same). Take any one thing you can say of God now, and it may be said not only in the dark past, but in the bright future it shall always remain the same: “I am Jehovah, I change not.”

3. Then again, God changes not in his plans. That man began to build, but was not able to finish, and therefore he changed his plan, as every wise man would do in such a case; he built upon a smaller foundation and commenced again. But has it ever been said that God began to build but was not able to finish? Nay. When he hath boundless stores at his command, and when his own right hand would create worlds as numerous as drops of morning dew, shall he ever stay because he has not power? and reverse, or alter, or disarrange his plan, because he cannot carry it out? “But,” say some, “perhaps God never had a plan.” Do you think God is more foolish than yourself then, sir? Do you go to work without a plan? “No,” say you, “I have always a scheme.” So has God. Every man has his plan, and God has a plan too. God is a master-mind; he arranged everything in his gigantic intellect long before he did it; and once having settled it, mark you, he never alters it. “This shall be done,” saith he, and the iron hand of destiny marks it down, and it is brought to pass. “This is my purpose,” and it stands, nor can earth or hell alter it. “This is my decree,” saith he, promulgate it angels; rend it down from the gate of heaven ye devils; but ye cannot alter the decree; it shall be done. God altereth not his plans; why should he? He is Almighty, and therefore can perform his pleasure. Why should he? He is the All-wise, and therefore cannot have planned wrongly. Why should he? He is the everlasting God, and therefore cannot die before his plan is accomplished. Why should he change? Ye worthless atoms of existence, ephemera of the day! Ye creeping insects upon this bayleaf of existence! ye may change your plans, but he shall never, never change his. Then has he told me that his plan is to save me? If so, I am safe.

“My name from the palms of his hands
Eternity will not erase;
Impress’d on his heart it remains,
In marks of indelible grace.”

     4. Yet again, God is unchanging in his promises. Ah! we love to speak about the sweet promises of God; but if we could ever suppose that one of them could be changed, we would not talk anything more about them. If I thought that the notes of the bank of England could not be cashed next week, I should decline to take them; and if I thought that God’s promises would never be fulfilled—if I thought that God would see it right to alter some word in his promises—farewell Scriptures! I want immutable things: and I find that I have immutable promises when I turn to the Bible: for, “by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie,” he hath signed, confirmed, and sealed every promise of his. The gospel is not “yea and nay,” it is not promising today, and denying tomorrow; but the gospel is “yea, yea,” to the glory of God. Believer! there was a delightful promise which you had yesterday; and this morning when you turned to the Bible the promise was not sweet. Do you know why? Do you think the promise had changed? Ah, no! You changed; that is where the matter lies. You had been eating some of the grapes of Sodom, and your mouth was thereby put out of taste, and you could not detect the sweetness. But there was the same honey there, depend upon it, the same preciousness. “Oh!” says one child of God, “I had built my house firmly once upon some stable promises; there came a wind, and I said, O Lord, I am cast down and I shall be lost.” Oh! the promises were not cast down; the foundations were not removed; it was your little “wood, hay, stubble” hut, that you had been building. It was that which fell down. You have been shaken on the rock, not the rock under you. But let me tell you what is the best way of living in the world. I have heard that a gentleman said to a Negro, “I can’t think how it is you are always so happy in the Lord and I am often downcast.” “Why Massa,” said he, “I throw myself flat down on the promise—there I lie; you stand on the promise—you have a little to do with it, and down you go when the wind comes, and then you cry, ‘Oh! I am down;’ whereas I go flat on the promise at once, and that is why I fear no fall.” Then let us always say, “Lord there is the promise; it is thy business to fulfill it.” Down I go on the promise flat! no standing up for me. That is where you should go—prostrate on the promise; and remember, every promise is a rock, an unchanging thing. Therefore, at his feet cast yourself, and rest there forever.

5. But now comes one jarring note to spoil the theme. To some of you God is unchanging in his threatenings. If every promise stands fast, and every oath of the covenant is fulfilled, hark thee, sinner! —mark the word—hear the death-knell of thy carnal hopes; see the funeral of thy fleshly trustings. Every threatening of God, as well as every promise shall be fulfilled. Talk of decrees! I will tell you of a decree: “He that believeth not shall be damned.” That is a decree, and a statute that can never change. Be as good as you please, be as moral as you can, be as honest as you will, walk as uprightly as you may, —there stands the unchangeable threatening: “He that believeth not shall be damned.” What sayest thou to that, moralist? Oh, thou wishest thou couldst alter it, and say, “He that does not live a holy life shall be damned.” That will be true; but it does not say so. It says, “He that believeth not.” Here is the stone of stumbling, and the rock of offence; but you cannot alter it. You must believe or be damned, saith the Bible; and mark, that threat of God is an unchangeable as God himself. And when a thousand years of hell’s torments shall have passed away, you shall look on high, and see written in burning letters of fire, “He that believeth not shall be damned.” “But, Lord, I am damned.” Nevertheless it says “shall be” still. And when a million ages have rolled away, and you are exhausted by your pains and agonies, you shall turn up your eye and still read “SHALL BE DAMNED,” unchanged, unaltered. And when you shall have thought that eternity must have spun out its last thread—that every particle of that which we call eternity, must have run out, you shall still see it written up there, “SHALL BE DAMNED.” O terrific thought! How dare I utter it? But I must. Ye must be warned, sirs, “lest ye also come into this place of torment.” Ye must be told rough things; for if God’s gospel is not a rough thing & the law is a rough thing; Mount Sinai is a rough thing. Woe unto the watchman that warns not the ungodly! God is unchanging in his threatenings. Beware, O sinner, for “it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

6. We must just hint at one thought before we pass away and that is—God is unchanging in the objects of his love—not only in his love, but in the objects of it.

“If ever it should come to pass,
That sheep of Christ might fall away.
My fickle, feeble soul, alas,
Would fall a thousand times a day.”

If one dear saint of God had perished, so might all; if one of the covenant ones be lost, so may all be, and then there is no gospel promise true; but the Bible is a lie, and there is nothing in it worth my acceptance. I will be an infidel at once, when I can believe that a saint of God can ever fall finally. If God hath loved me once, then he will love me for ever.

“Did Jesus once upon me shine,
Then Jesus is for ever mine.”

The objects of everlasting love never change. Those whom God hath called, he will justify; whom he has justified, he will sanctify; and whom he sanctifies, he will glorify.

1. Thus having taken a great deal too much time, perhaps, in simply expanding the thought of an unchanging God, I will now try to prove that He is unchangeable. I am not much of an argumentative preacher, but one argument that I will mention is this: the very existence, and being of a God, seem to me to imply immutability. Let me think a moment. There is a God; this God rules and governs all things; this God fashioned the world: he upholds and maintains it. What kind of being must he be? It does strike me that you cannot think of a changeable God. I conceive that the thought is so repugnant to common sense, that if you for one moment think of a changing God, the words seem to clash, and you are obliged to say, “Then he must be a kind of man,” and get a Mormonite idea of God. I imagine it is impossible to conceive of a changing God; it is so to me. Others may be capable of such an idea, but I could not entertain it. I could no more think of a changing God, than I could of a round square, or any other absurdity. The thing seems so contrary, that I am obliged, when once I say God, to include the idea of an unchanging being.

2. Well, I think that one argument will be enough, but another good argument may be found in the fact of God’s perfection. I believe God to be a perfect being. Now, if he is a perfect being, he cannot change. Do you not see this? Suppose I am perfect today, if it were possible for me to change, should I be perfect tomorrow after the alteration? If I changed, I must either change from a good state to a better—and then if I could get better, I could not be perfect now—or else from a better state to a worse—and if I were worse, I should not be perfect then. If I am perfect, I cannot be altered without being imperfect. If I am perfect today, I must keep the same tomorrow if I am to be perfect then. So, if God is perfect, he must be the same; for change would imply imperfection now, or imperfection then.

3. Again, there is the fact of God’s infinity, which puts change out of the question. God is an infinite being. What do you mean by that? There is no man who can tell you what he means by an infinite being. But there cannot be two infinities. If one thing is infinite, there is no room for anything else; for infinite means all. It means not bounded, not finite, having no end. Well, there cannot be two infinities. If God is infinite today, and then should change and be infinite tomorrow, there would be two infinities. But that cannot be. Suppose he is infinite and then changes, he must become finite, and could not be God; either he is finite today and finite tomorrow, or infinite today and finite tomorrow, or finite today and infinite tomorrow—all of which suppositions are equally absurd. The fact of his being an infinite being at once quashes the thought of his being a changeable being. Infinity has written on its very brow the word “immutability.”

4. But then, dear friends, let us look at the past: and there we shall gather some proofs of God’s immutable nature. “Hath he spoken, and hath he not done it? Hath he sworn, and hath it not come to pass?” Can it not be said of Jehovah, “He hath done all his will, and he hath accomplished all his purpose?” Turn ye to Philistia; ask where she is. God said, “Howl Ashdod, and ye gates of Gaza, for ye shall fall;” and where are they? Where is Edom? Ask Petra and its ruined walls. Will they not echo back the truth that God hath said, “Edom shall be a prey, and shall be destroyed?” Where is Babel, and where Nineveh? Where Moab and where Ammon? Where are the nations God hath said he would destroy? Hath he not uprooted them and cast out the remembrance of them from the earth? And hath God cast off his people? Hath he once been unmindful of his promise? Hath he once broken his oath and covenant, or once departed from his plan? Ah! no. Point to one instance in history where God has changed! Ye cannot, sirs; for throughout all history there stands the fact that God has been immutable in his purposes. Methinks I hear some one say, “I can remember one passage in Scripture where God changed!” And so did I think once. The case I mean, is that of the death of Hezekiah. Isaiah came in and said, ‘Hezekiah, you must die, your disease is incurable, set your house in order.’ He turned his face to the wall and began to pray; and before Isaiah was in the outer court, he was told to go back and say, “Thou shalt live fifteen years more.” You may think that proves that God changes; but really I cannot see in it the slightest proof in the world. How do you know that God did not know that? Oh! but God did know it; he knew that Hezekiah would live. Then he did not change, for if he knew that, how could he change? That is what I want to know. But do you know one little thing? —that Hezekiah’s son Manasseh, was not born at that time, and that had Hezekiah died, there would have been no Manasseh, and no Josiah and no Christ, because Christ came from that very line. You will find that Manasseh was twelve years old when his father died; so that he must have been born three years after this. And do you not believe that God decreed the birth of Manasseh, and foreknew it? Certainly. Then he decreed that Isaiah should go and tell Hezekiah that his disease was incurable, and then say also in the same breath, “But I will cure it, and thou shalt live.” He said that to stir up Hezekiah to prayer. He spoke, in the first place as a man. “According to all human probability your disease is incurable, and you must die.” Then he waited till Hezekiah prayed; then came a little “but” at the end of the sentence. Isaiah had not finished the sentence. He said, “You must put your house in order for there is no human cure; but” (and then he walked out. Hezekiah prayed a little, and then he came in again, and said) “But I will heal thee.” Where is there any contradiction there, except in the brain of those who fight against the Lord, and wish to make him a changeable being.

II. Now secondly, let me say a word on THE PERSONS TO WHOM THIS UNCHANGEABLE GOD IS A BENEFIT. “I am God, I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Now, who are “the sons of Jacob,” who can rejoice in an immutable God?

1. First, they are the sons of God’s election

“Are the sons of God’s election,
Who through sovereign grace believe;
Be eternal destination
Grace and glory they receive.”

God’s elect are here meant by “the sons of Jacob,”—those whom he foreknew and fore-ordained to everlasting salvation.

2. By “the sons of Jacob” are meant, in the second place, persons who enjoy peculiar rights and titles. Jacob, you know, had no rights by birth; but he soon acquired them. He changed a mess of pottage with his brother Esau, and thus gained the birthright. I do not justify the means; but he did also obtain the blessing, and so acquired peculiar rights. By “the sons of Jacob” here, are meant persons who have peculiar rights and titles. Unto them that believe, he hath given the right and power to become sons of God. They have an interest in the blood of Christ; they have a right to “enter in through the gates into the city;” they have a title to eternal honors; they have a promise to everlasting glory; they have a right to call themselves sons of God. Oh! there are peculiar rights and privileges belonging to the “sons of Jacob.”

3. But, then next, these “sons of Jacob” were men of peculiar manifestations. Jacob had peculiar manifestations from his God, and thus he was highly honored. Once at night-time he lay down and slept; he had the hedges for his curtains, the sky for his canopy, a stone for his pillow, and the earth for his bed. Oh! then he had a peculiar manifestation. There was a ladder, and he saw the angels of God ascending and descending. He thus had a manifestation of Christ Jesus, as the ladder which reaches from earth to heaven, up and down which angels came to bring us mercies. Then what a manifestation there was at Mahanaim, when the angels of God met him; and again at Peniel, when he wrestled with God, and saw him face to face. Those were peculiar manifestations; and this passage refers to those who, like Jacob, have had peculiar manifestations.

Now then, how many of you have had personal manifestations? “Oh!” you say “that is enthusiasm; that is fanaticism.” Well, it is a blessed enthusiasm, too, for the sons of Jacob have had peculiar manifestations. They have talked with God as a man talketh with his friend; they have whispered in the ear of Jehovah; Christ hath been with them to sup with them, and they with Christ; and the Holy Spirit hath shone into their souls with such a mighty radiance, that they could not doubt about special manifestations. The “sons of Jacob” are the men, who enjoy these manifestations.

4. Then again, they are men of peculiar trials. Ah! poor Jacob! I should not choose Jacob’s lot if I had not the prospect of Jacob’s blessing; for a hard lot his was. He had to run away from his father’s house to Laban’s; and then that surly old Laban cheated him all the years he was there—cheated him of his wife, cheated him in his wages, cheated him in his flocks, and cheated him all through the story. By-and-bye he had to run away from Laban, who pursued him and overtook him. Next came Esau with four hundred men to cut him up root and branch. Then there was a season of prayer, and afterwards he wrestled, and had to go all his life with his thigh out of joint. But a little further on, Rachael, his dear beloved, died. Then his daughter Dinah is led astray, and the sons murder the Shechemites. Anon there is dear Joseph sold into Egypt, and a famine comes. Then Reuben goes up to his couch and pollutes it; Judah commits incest with his own daughter-in-law; and all his sons become a plague to him. At last Benjamin is taken away; and the old man, almost broken-hearted, cries, “Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away.” Never was man more tried than Jacob, all through the one sin of cheating his brother. All through his life God chastised him. But I believe there are many who can sympathize with dear old Jacob. They have had to pass through trials very much like his. Well, cross-bearers! God says, “I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Poor tried souls! ye are not consumed because of the unchanging nature of your God. Now do not get fretting, and say, with the self-conceit of misery, “I am the man who hath seen affliction.” Why “the Man of Sorrows” was afflicted more than you; Jesus was indeed a mourner. You only see the skirts of the garments of affliction. You never have trials like his. You do not understand what troubles means; you have hardly sipped the cup of trouble; you have only had a drop or two, but Jesus drunk the dregs. Fear not saith God, “I am the Lord, I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob,” men of peculiar trials, “are not consumed.”

5. Then one more thought about who are the “sons of Jacob,” for I should like you to find out whether you are “sons of Jacob,” yourselves. They are men of peculiar character; for though there were some things about Jacob’s character which we cannot commend, there are one or two things which God commends. There was Jacob’s faith, by which Jacob had his name written amongst the mighty worthies who obtained not the promises on earth, but shall obtain them in heaven. Are you men of faith, beloved? Do you know what it is to walk by faith, to live by faith, to get your temporary food by faith, to live on spiritual manna—all by faith? Is faith the rule of your life? if so, you are the “sons of Jacob.”

Then Jacob was a man of prayer—a man who wrestled, and groaned, and prayed. There is a man up yonder who never prayed this morning, before coming up to the house of God. Ah! you poor heathen, don’t you pray? No! he says, “I never thought of such a thing; for years I have not prayed.” Well, I hope you may before you die. Live and die without prayer, and you will pray long enough when you get to hell. There is a woman: she did not pray this morning; she was so busy sending her children to the Sunday School, she had no time to pray. No time to pray? Had you time to dress? There is a time for every purpose under heaven, and if you had purposed to pray, you would have prayed. Sons of God cannot live without prayer. They are wrestling Jacobs. They are men in whom the Holy Ghost so works, they can no more live without prayer than I can live without breathing. They must pray. Sirs, mark you, if you are living without prayer, you are living without Christ; and dying like that, your portion will be in the lake which burneth with fire. God redeem you, God rescue you from such a lot! But you who are “the sons of Jacob,” take comfort, for God is immutable.

III. Thirdly, I can say only a word about the other point—THE BENEFIT WHICH THESE “SONS OF JACOB” RECEIVE FROM AN UNCHANGING GOD. “Therefore, ye sons Jacob are not consumed.” “Consumed?” How? how can man be consumed? Why, there are two ways. We might have been consumed in hell. If God had been a changing God, the “sons of Jacob” here this morning, might have been consumed in hell; but for God’s unchanging love I should have been a faggot in the fire. But there is a way of being consumed in this world; there is such a things as being condemned before you die—”condemned already;” there is such a thing as being alive, and yet being absolutely dead. We might have been left to our own devices, and then where should we have been now? Reveling with the drunkard, blaspheming Almighty God. Oh? had he left you, dearly beloved, had he been a changing God, ye had been amongst the filthiest of the filthy, and the vilest of the vile. Cannot you remember in your life, seasons similar to those I have felt? I have gone right to the edge of sin; some strong temptation has taken hold of both my arms, so that I could not wrestle with it. I have been pushed alone, dragged as by an awful satanic power to the very edge of some horrid precipice. I have looked down, down, down, and seen my portion; I quivered on the brink of ruin. I have been horrified, as, with my hair upright, I have thought of the sin I was about to commit, the horrible pit into which I was about to fall. A strong arm hath saved me. I have started back and cried, O God! could I have gone so near sin, and yet come back again? Could I have walked right up to the furnace and not fallen down, like Nebuchadnezzar’s strong men, devoured by the very heat? Oh! is it possible I should be here this morning, when I think of the sins I have committed, and the crimes which have crossed my wicked imagination? Yes, I am here, unconsumed, because the Lord changes not. Oh! if he had changed, we should have been consumed in a dozen ways; if the Lord had changed, you and I should have been consumed by ourselves; for after all, Mr. Self is the worst enemy a Christian has. We should have proved suicides to our own souls; we should have mixed the cup of poison for our own spirits, if the Lord had not been an unchanging God, and dashed the cup out of our hands when we were about to drink it. Then we should have been consumed by God himself if he had not been a changeless God. We call God a Father; but there is not a father in this world who would not have killed all his children long ago, so provoked would he have been with them, if he had been half as much troubled as God has been with his family. He has the most troublesome family in the whole world—unbelieving, ungrateful, disobedient, forgetful, rebellious, wandering, murmuring, and stiff-necked. Well it is that he is longsuffering, or else he would have taken not only the rod, but the sword to some of us long ago. But there was nothing in us to love at first, so, there cannot be less now. John Newton used to tell a whimsical story, and laugh at it too, of a good woman who said, in order to prove the doctrine of Election, “Ah! sir, the Lord must have loved me before I was born, or else he would not have seen anything in me to love afterwards.” I am sure it is true in my case, and true in respect most of God’s people; for there is little to love in them after they are born, that if he had not loved them before then, he would have seen no reason to choose them after; but since he loved them without works, he loves them without works still; since their good works did not win his affection, bad works cannot sever that affection; since their righteousness did not bind his love to them, so their wickedness cannot snap the golden links. He loved them out of pure sovereign grace, and he will love them still. But we should have been consumed by the devil, and by our enemies—consumed by the world, consumed by our sins, by our trials, and in a hundred other ways, if God had ever changed.

Well, now, time fails us, and I can say but little. I have only just cursorily touched on the text. I now hand it to you. May the Lord help you “sons of Jacob” to take home this portion of meat; digest it well, and feed upon it. May the Holy Ghost sweetly apply the glorious things that are written! And may you have “a feast of fat things, of wines on the lees well refined!” Remember God is the same, whatever is removed. Your friends may be disaffected, your ministers may be taken away, every thing may change, but God does not. Your brethren may change and cast out your name as vile: but God will love you still. Let your station in life change, and your property be gone; let your whole life be shaken, and you become weak and sickly; let everything flee away—there is one place where change cannot put his finger; there is one name on which mutability can never be written; there is one heart which never can alter; that heart is God’s—that name Love.

“Trust him, he will ne’er deceive you.
Though you hardly of him deem;
He will never, never leave you,
Nor will let you quite leave him.”

Some Thoughts on Sin and Hell | Truth for Life

Some Thoughts on Sin and Hell

It may surprise some to consider that the strongest words in the Bible concerning hell come from the lips of Jesus Christ Himself. For example, in Mark 9:48, Jesus uses imagery from Isaiah 66 to describe hell as a place full of invincible, flesh-eating worms and unquenchable fire. (That’s not exactly the most pleasant picture, is it?)

The thing for us to bear in mind, however, is that the one who spoke most vividly about eternal punishment is the very same one who died in order that we needn’t experience its pain. The strongest and most striking statements concerning hell come from our Savior, who bore the flames of His Father’s wrath that He might rescue us from the fire of eternal judgment.

The strongest and most striking statements concerning hell come from our Savior, who bore the flames of His Father’s wrath that He might rescue us from the fire of eternal judgment.

Hell Is about God’s Love

Perhaps one of the reasons our culture scoffs at hell and considers the very concept a bizarre relic of the Dark Ages is that unlike Jesus, we often speak of hell so dispassionately. If we believe it, then how can we speak of what the Bible says about the eternal destiny of our unbelieving loved ones with dry eyes? Maybe the memory of Jesus weeping over Jerusalem (Matt. 23:37–39; Luke 19:41–44) is too faint in our minds. Or maybe we forget that God does not desire the death of sinners but prefers that sinners turn from their wickedness and live (2 Pet. 3:9; Ezek. 18:23; 33:11).

In fact, the very existence of hell demonstrates the intensity of God’s love for us. Doesn’t love sometimes fill you with anger? If an acquaintance with whom you spend little time turns his back on you and walks away, you might feel a little pain. But if someone who is a core member of your inner circle does the same and reviles you, it feels exponentially worse. If your spouse walks out and says, “I want nothing to do with you anymore,” wouldn’t you be angry?

The Bible shows us that God expresses His love by eschewing indifference. If a good father really loves his son, he could never be indifferent if that son was abusing drugs. He would be angry beyond description, not because he doesn’t love the boy but because he does love him, with a passion. The father cannot bear to see his child destroy himself. Likewise, a surgical oncologist who loves her patients knows the anger she feels when she realizes there is nothing to be done because the cancer has spread too far.

There is no antithesis between what Jesus says about the reality of hell and what He does Himself by dying on the cross. In His death, He took hell for all who believe.

God’s wrath as expressed in hell is not a fiery outburst. It’s not a cranky emotional explosion. God’s anger signifies His settled opposition to the cancer we call sin, which tears humanity apart from the inside out. Ultimately, there is no antithesis between what Jesus says about the reality of hell and what He does Himself by dying on the cross. In His death, He took hell for all who believe. Not only did He bear our sins, but He endured the wrath we deserve. If you remove the bad news of hell, you gut the good news of heaven.

The Seriousness of Sin

For a supremely holy God, sin is no laughing matter. In Mark 9:42, Jesus tells us just how much He despises sin: “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.”

Here, Jesus is not necessarily referring to young children only. Rather, if you are responsible for causing any believer to sin, to shipwreck his or her faith, to fall apart in following Jesus, that destruction of God’s loved one deserves a harsh penalty. In the words of R. T. France, “To be the cause of another’s spiritual shipwreck is so serious an offense that a quick drowning would be preferable to the fate it deserves.”1

To toy with sin—to slyly wink or smile at its temptations—is to prove you do not truly know Christ’s saving, sanctifying grace. It is to risk facing the unquenchable fire.

Jesus then warns us about playing fast and loose with our own sin in verses 43–48. An approach to the Christian life that says, “Sin doesn’t really matter, Jesus paid it all, I can do what I like,” is not Christian in any sense. Sin may remain in the believer’s life, but it no longer reigns (Rom. 6:12). The Father’s love for you has set you free from the tyranny of sin. Though perhaps not yet fully destroyed, it has been dethroned. To toy with sin, therefore—to slyly wink or smile at its temptations—is to prove we do not truly know Christ’s saving, sanctifying grace. It is to risk facing the unquenchable fire. Put simply: Sin is serious, and its ultimate consequence, hell, is all too real. You do not want to play with sin.

God’s Palace

In Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis has a wonderful little section where he uses an analogy of God being at work in reconstructing us. He says, “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing.” He is making various basic repairs. “But presently he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense.”2

So, you came to trust in Christ, and you knew that you needed a Savior. You were worshipping substitute gods but discovered forgiveness and freedom in Jesus, and you became enamored and delighted with Him. But the longer you went—the more you got help from saints in your church and the more you read your Bible—the more you realized, “I’m flawed, I’m a failure, and I’m weak.”

What is God doing as He reveals our flaws and failures to us? Lewis tell us: “You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”3

Do you want to be a shabby little cottage? Or do you want to be a palace fit for the King? Do you want to be a dark, decaying hut, tolerating lustful gazes, dealing with others bitterly, and ultimately serving only yourself? Why would we ever settle for that?

Every seemingly bitter blow that falls from God’s hand comes from a Father who wants to guard His little ones from the fangs of sin.

Sometimes, like a good surgeon, God opens our eyes to cancerous sin that has taken root in part of our lives. And God, by His Spirit—and we, in the power of His Spirit—must do whatever it takes to cut it away, lest it spread beyond control and kill us.

Your Father in heaven never intends to harm you. This is the God who sacrificed His only Son to block you from the wide gate that leads to destruction. Every seemingly bitter blow that falls from His hand comes from a Father who wants to guard His little ones from the fangs of sin. He does not desire that you languish in sin and hurt, and He certainly does not desire for you to spend eternity apart from Him. His good pleasure is not in punishment. Instead, for any who would believe, “it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).

From the church website:

We subscribe to the Westminster Standards as our doctrinal statement. It consists of the following documents:

The Westminster Confession of Faith
The Westminster Larger Catechism
The Westminster Shorter Catechism

We also believe that Christian Worship is to be regulated and defined by God’s Word, the Bible.

Our worship services are designed to please and honor the Triune God of the Bible. We place Scripture reading and the preaching of the word of God at the center of worship along with Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These are God’s gifts to His church and ought to always be at the center of Christian worship. We are a congregation that loves to sing God’s praises, recite His Word back to Him, and actively engage in hearing and learning from God’s Word.

We embrace and promote a comprehensive Christian world and life view.

There is no area of life which is not under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It is to God and His law which all people, including governments and civil rulers, will answer. The Word of God embraces and informs the way we view marriage, the family, children, education, politics, worship, law, government, war, the church, missions, evangelism, and worship. In the world today there is a battle of opposing worldviews. There are basically only two positions: God’s Word and man’s ideas. We stand positively for Biblical truth and negatively against man’s ideas which are opposed to Biblical truth.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only hope for mankind.

Because all men fall short of obeying God’s law, all men everywhere are in need of divine grace and salvation from God. This salvation is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for sinners, was buried, rose again, and is alive today seated at God the Father’s right hand.

We Worship God Together as Families.

We offer nursery during the morning worship service for newborns and infants but encourage people to keep as many of their children as they can with them for morning worship. The audio of the service is in the nursery via speakers. There is also a crying room with a video screen and audio of the sermon. We offer Sunday school classes for all ages, but worship together as families. We do not offer “children’s” church.

All who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and are members of an evangelical church are cordially invited to participate with us in the Lord’s Supper.

The Safest Shelter | VCY

And a man shall be as an hiding-place from the wind and a covert from the tempest. (Isaiah 32:2)

Who this Man is we all know. Who could He be but the Second Man, the Lord from heaven, the man of sorrows, the Son of Man? What a hiding place He has been to His people! He bears the full force of the wind Himself, and so He shelters those who hide themselves in Him. We have thus escaped the wrath of God, and we shall thus escape the anger of men, the cares of this life, and the dread of death. Why do we stand in the wind when we may so readily and so surely get out of it by hiding behind our Lord? Let us this day run to Him and be at peace.

Often the common wind of trouble rises in its force and becomes a tempest, sweeping everything before it. Things which looked firm and stable rock in the blast, and many and great are the falls among our carnal confidences. Our Lord Jesus, the glorious man, is a covert which is never blown down. In Him we mark the tempest sweeping by, but we ourselves rest in delightful serenity.

This day let us just stow ourselves away in our hiding place and sit and sing under the protection of our Covert. Blessed Jesus! Blessed Jesus! How we love Thee! Well we may, for Thou art to us a shelter in the time of storm.

Thirsty | Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God.

Years  ago in my former vocation as a logger I drove a machine called a skidder with which I pulled logs from the woods to an area where they could be loaded and sent for milling. We dragged logs for several kilometer on what was called a skid road. It was hot and dusty work going back and forth on this same road pulling in the logs and returning back to get more.

At one spot close to the side of the skid road we discovered water bubbling up from underground and then disappearing again. This water was cold and oh so sweet. Probably the best water I have ever tasted. Whenever we were thirsty we would stop and have a drink. However it was such a little spot it was hard to see and easy to miss while driving by. But there was always the thought, “Oops I missed it but I’ll stop next time by.”

Does it sound familiar? “Oops God, I missed you, but I’ll stop next time by.”

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 42:1-2a).

God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1).

I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs for You like a thirsty land” (Psalm 143:6).

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink” (John 7:37).

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

Thank you Lord Jesus for inviting the thirsty to come and drink. Telling us that if we believe in you, as the Scripture has said, “streams of living water will flow from within us… through the Spirit that you have given us. Thank you Jesus, amen.” John 7:37-39

The Weight of Glory | Alistair Begg Daily Devotional

“As soon as he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell over backward from his seat by the side of the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for the man was old and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years.”

1 Samuel 4:18

Not many places in the Bible mention somebody’s weight! This verse, then, ought to give us pause as we consider its significance. It may seem that Eli’s heaviness is mentioned simply to explain the physical reality of his death. But it’s actually more than that.

Earlier, in 1 Samuel 2:12-17, the narrator tells us that Eli’s sons had a custom of using a three-pronged fork to dig into the meat offered for sacrifice in order to take a portion for themselves and their family from the meat that belonged to God. They despised the tabernacle—the place that God had appointed for His own dwelling place among His people—deciding that their own earthly longings and selfish preoccupations took precedence over His glory. In one sense, God’s glory had been stolen and wrapped around Eli’s belly (v 29). His girth was a physical expression of the sin being perpetrated and promoted by the priests at Shiloh.

This is clearer in the writer’s original Hebrew, where the word for “heavy” is transliterated kabed. It is the verbal form of the word kabod, which is translated “glory.” The writer is making a play on words, showing that when those who are fastened on themselves and their own significance seek to rob God of His glory, they treat Him as if He is light and may be manipulated. And so, regarding themselves as heavy, they look to take precedence in everything.

Nevertheless, the sun eventually set—or rather events came crashing down—on Eli’s life, and he died miserably. He is now one of several individuals in the Bible, particularly in the realm of priestly or pastoral function, who stand as warnings against the presumptuousness captured by Paul’s words: “Let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).

This wisdom is not only for individuals who believe themselves to be unassailable—though it certainly is for them. It is also a striking warning to every assembly of God’s people. Let us hate the thought that in our churches we might ever take from the glory that God deserves in order to serve, enrich, or enjoy ourselves. This Sunday, as you head to your church, remember that you are there first and foremost not for yourself but to glorify your majestic, transcendent, glorious Lord and encourage His people.

Musk Takes on a New Fight

By offering to pay the legal bills of employees who were fired for expressing opinions on Twitter, Elon Musk put woke corporate America on notice.

Douglas Andrews

It was a stunning offer, and it came seemingly out of nowhere: “If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit. Please let us know.”

That was Elon Musk on Saturday, with an announcement that might cause more than a few woke boardrooms to wonder about their legal exposure for vindictive targeting of their employees.

But wait; there’s more: “And we won’t just sue,” said Musk, the CEO of the platform formerly known as Twitter, “it will be extremely loud and we will go after the boards of directors of the companies too.”

This is gonna be good. And it got us to thinking: Two things that tend to attract the attention of corporate boards are big lawsuits and bad publicity, and Musk is promising to bring both. Not surprisingly — at least not to anyone even remotely familiar the wave of wokeness that’s swept across corporate America in recent years — there appears to be no shortage of potential victims. As the Washington Examiner’s Jenny Goldsberry reports: “Users flocked to the post to respond in the tens of thousands to share their stories of workplace discrimination as a result of their X posts. Many posted about former President Donald Trump, who was removed from the platform over his posts and accused of inciting the Jan. 6 riot online.”

Yowsa. “In the tens of thousands”? How can even Musk’s seemingly bottomless pockets possibly fund such a lengthy list of potential litigants?

If we had to guess, we’d say he’ll do it selectively, and with the goal of winning a few precedent-setting cases. Musk is a free-speech champion, which is why he bought Twitter in the first place. And so, in order to break corporate America of its speech-suppressing habit, he might take on the legal bills of a handful of high-profile plaintiffs — plaintiffs like, say, Kara Lynne, who was introduced to Musk by Libs of TikTok creator Chaya Raichik. It seems that Lynne, a video game manager, was canned by her employer for the crime of following Libs of TikTok and other subversive behaviors, such as tweeting her support for a then soon-to-be-released Harry Potter game.

“[Kara] was fired for following Libs of TikTok,” Raichik posted in Musk’s thread. To which Musk himself responded, “Kara, is this accurate?”

To which Lynne replied: “Yes. It was [led] by someone who dug through my tweets and found a single one from 2016 regarding hesitation of people taking advantage of the bathroom discussion. Started a witch hunt and I was fired the same day. Happy to chat more about it if you are interested, @elonmusk.”

“YUGE!” Raichik responded. “Elon is a true free speech warrior.” Raichik then went on to tag Twitter users who’d been fired for having merely followed Libs of TikTok.

Gina Carano was fired by Disney over a tweet. She told Elon, “I think I qualify.” Same goes for NASCAR driver Noah Gragson, who was just suspended this past weekend for liking a tasteless meme about George Floyd.

Musk’s offer, though, isn’t the only front in his war against censorship. As The Daily Wire reports, “X filed a lawsuit last week against a non-profit organization accusing it of unlawfully accessing private data and cherry-picking posts to show a rise in hate speech on the social media platform under Musk’s ownership.”

“There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about,” said poet Oscar Wilde, “and that is not being talked about.”

Elon Musk clearly understands this — which is why his platform notched a new monthly high of more than 541,000,000 users last month.

Bud Light’s Hard-Knocks Lesson

The King of Beers has been dethroned after showing contempt for its customer base.

Nate Jackson

As far as corporate collapses go, few have been as spectacular as the stunning fall of Bud Light.

Back on April 1, the beer brand made what seemed like an inexplicable decision — sponsoring a social media influencer by the name of Dylan Mulvaney with custom-made Bud Light cans bearing his image. The problem is that Mulvaney pretends to be a woman so as to cash in with social media influence. Was it some sort of April Fools’ joke?

No; gone are the days of classic Bud Light commercials making fun of men dressing up like women.

The Mulvaney campaign was the very deliberate choice of former Bud Light VP of Marketing Alissa Heinerscheid. This real woman of genius explained in the typically irritating way of the Social Justice Warrior how the King of Beers was actually “in decline for a long time,” and it thus needed “young drinkers” wooed with a “truly inclusive,” “lighter,” and “brighter” marketing campaign. Rather than remaining “a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor,” she opined, “it was really important that we had another approach.”

In other words, Bud Light didn’t want its bigoted, flyover-country customers, hoping instead to win new, more enlightened ones.

How’s that workin’ out for ya?

Well, some companies might get away with being woke. Just not a beer with more or less a MAGA customer base. Notwithstanding Bud Light’s mealy-mouthed non-apology later in April followed by a hastily created country music ad, sales quickly tanked and have not yet recovered.

The second quarter was a total disaster for Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch InBev remains the world’s largest brewer, but that doesn’t make a quarterly loss of nearly $400 million easy to take. Year-over-year revenue dropped 10.5%; earnings fell 28.2%. Its market share fell more than five percentage points to 36.9%, and after decades in the top spot Bud Light is no longer the nation’s most popular beer. The beer is losing coveted shelf space and even received the “death star” in at least some Costco stores, which means those stores will no longer stock the brand. It’s down $27 billion in market value, and hundreds of white-collar workers were recently laid off.

That’ll give anyone bitter beer face.

“My ancestors would have rolled over in their graves,” said Billy Busch of the famous brewing family. “They loved this country because it is a free country and people are allowed to do what they want, but it was never meant to be on a beer can and pushed in people’s faces.”

Cheers to that.

For all his own wealth from more than a century of successful business, Busch understands the company’s customer base. “I think people who drink beer, I think they’re your common folk,” Busch continued. “I think they are the blue-collar worker who goes and works hard every single day. The last thing they want pushed down their throat or to be drinking is a beer can with that kind of message on it. I just don’t think that’s what they’re looking for. They want their beer to be truly American, truly patriotic, as it always has been. Truly, America’s beer, which Bud Light was and probably isn’t any longer.”

It seems at least a few people at the company might slowly be learning that lesson.

Following a survey of potential customers showing that most folks still view the brand positively if it’ll just knock off the woke junk and sell beer, Bud Light aims to do just that. “Beer is about relaxation,” Chief Executive Michel Doukeris said. “People do not want to enjoy their beer with a debate.” Another executive called the kerfuffle a “wake-up call.”

The question is whether anyone who quit buying the beer will come back. Unlike 30 years ago, there are now practically countless micro breweries with superior products. Why go back? Don’t get us wrong; it would be great to see Bud Light and a broad swath of other companies abandon the woke ship and get back to basics. But we also think Bud Light is a rather unique case.

Meanwhile, Mulvaney has parlayed the controversy into highly paid victim status. According to the Associated Press, “Mulvaney says she [sic] felt abandoned by Bud Light after facing ‘more bullying and transphobia than I could have ever imagined’ over her [sic] partnership with the beer giant.”

Mulvaney huffed, “For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want.” He says Bud Light never again “reach[ed] out to me,” all while he’s been “ridiculed in public” and “scared to leave my house.”

Except for the Tony Awards the AP pictured him attending right above that quote. And except for those $40,000 speaking engagements on college campuses.

Life sure is hard for a victim.

Executive News Summary

U.S. asked China before draining SPR, suing Biden over student loans again, pediatric groomers, and more.

Thomas Gallatin & Jordan Candler

Cross-Examination

  • U.S. asked China before draining SPR: Prior to Joe Biden’s politically motivated decision to open and release millions of barrels of oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in a vein effort to combat spiking gas prices in late 2021, his top energy official held secret talks with China. It has come to light that Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm had several meetings with China’s National Energy Administration Chairman Zhang Jianhua wherein the two reportedly discussed energy policy. Biden’s subsequent action to drain roughly 250 million barrels of oil from the SPR, putting it at its lowest level in almost 40 years, appears to be a decision that most benefits China — raising the question of Beijing’s influence over Biden’s energy policy. “Instead of focusing on creating real energy independence for America, Granholm has been too busy parroting Chinese energy propaganda and insisting ‘we can all learn from what China is doing,’” contends Americans for Public Trust Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland. “The public deserves to know the extent to which Chinese officials are attempting to infiltrate U.S. energy policy and security.”
  • Find the children: Since Joe Biden took office, his administration has lost contact with roughly 85,000 migrant children released into the U.S. These unaccompanied minors were released to sponsors, and authorities can no longer locate them. According to The New York Times earlier this year, “Overall, the agency lost immediate contact with a third of migrant children.” Back in April, Biden’s Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement Director Robin Dunn Marcos admitted before Congress that the agency “does not monitor or track the whereabouts of children after they are released from our care.” In lieu of this stunning admission, Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) will be introducing legislation to require the federal government to track down these lost children. These children “need to be protected from … terrible traffickers who will exploit them, rape them, put them into forced labor of some kind,” Smith argues. “And so, it’s a very real problem that’s happening all over the world, [and] happening right here in our backyard.”
  • Suing Biden over student loans again: The Cato Institute and the Mackinac Center for Public Policy filed a lawsuit Friday against Joe Biden’s latest student loan cancellation gambit. Biden’s plan would use income-driven repayment plans already in existence to effectively provide $39 billion in loan forgiveness to 804,000 borrowers. That effectively games the system by including periods of non-payment as contributing to a borrower’s 20 or 25 years of payment in order to ensure that borrowers meet the threshold for loan forgiveness. The lawsuit argues, “No authority allows the Department to count non-payments as payments.” Therefore, “The inescapable conclusion is that the One-Time Account Adjustment is substantively and procedurally unlawful.”
  • Back to the office: With the COVID pandemic long over and fast fading in the nation’s rearview mirror, one thing has yet to get back to pre-pandemic norms — working at the office. This has especially been the case in Washington, where a majority of federal employees are still enjoying working from home. That means federal government office buildings are nowhere near capacity. A recent report from the Government Accountability Office found that nearly two dozen federal agencies’ headquarter offices are currently over 50% vacant. Seeking to remedy this, the Biden administration is pushing to get more federal workers back into the office. White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients sent an email telling agencies to begin “implementing increases in the amount of in-person work for your team” and “to aggressively execute this shift in September and October.”
  • Pediatric groomers: The board of American Academy of Pediatrics reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender-bending treatment on abuse of children. The AAP represents some 67,000 pediatricians nationwide. AAP Chief Executive Mark Del Monte said, “The board has confidence that the existing evidence is such that the current policy is appropriate.” However, in recognition that European countries have increasingly distanced themselves from gender-bending treatment on minors, the AAP board commissioned a systematic review of policy regarding these treatments. This admission looks more like an effort to placate the objections to this ridiculously political and medically harmful stance rather than any sincere concern for questions or objections — much less the kids under the knife.
  • Teens riot over PS5 giveaway in NYC: Dozens of teens and young adults were arrested Friday in New York City after a “full-on riot” broke out during an event held by popular video gamer celebrity Kai Cenat. An estimated 2,000 teens and young adults showed up at Union Square Park, where Kai Cenat was promising to give away free PS5 gaming consoles as well as other gaming equipment. The event was being live-streamed and was intended by Kai Cenat as a generous give-back to his fans. The trouble is that Kai Cenat effectively promotes himself with the gangsta image and three months prior had been banned by the gamer platform Twitch for live-streaming himself ingesting and passing out edible marijuana. It therefore comes as little surprise that one who promotes lawlessness would attract a fanbase of lawless thugs.

White House Put Thumb on Facebook Scales

Emails reveal Team Biden’s pressure campaign on Facebook to both suppress conservative media and elevate Leftmedia outlets.

Thomas Gallatin

Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), chair of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, recently released a second and third tranche of what has been dubbed the “Facebook Files,” documentation exposing the degree of the Biden administration’s corrupt censorship collusion with Facebook.

Conservative organizations like ours have experienced an aggressive silencing campaign by Facebook, suppressing our content reach — even to those who have specifically chosen to follow us.

This latest Facebook Files consists of email communications from the spring of 2021 between Facebook employees and members of the Biden administration, including Joe Biden’s former director of digital strategy, Rob Flaherty.

Of note is the blatant requests by the Biden administration to increasingly suppress conservative news media, including specifically named media outlets like the New York Post (which, by the way, broke the Hunter Biden laptop story) and the Daily Wire.

For example, in one email from Flaherty, he asked why the New York Post hasn’t been suppressed more: “I’m curious — NY Post churning out articles every day… What is supposed to happen to that from Policy perspective. Does that article get a reduction, labels?”

Justifying the request for increasing censorship, the Biden administration uses terms like “misinformation” and “bad information” repeatedly. For instance, in an email from June of 2021, Flagerty wrote: “We’re keen on what platforms are doing to reduce the spread of bad information, that platforms are not funneling people towards bad content. That’s our primary concern.”

Facebook, clearly feeling the pressure from the Biden administration to effectively take down people and content the administration didn’t like, explained its method for suppression without outright ousting individuals from the platform: “That’s why from product perspective, it’s so important to look at mechanisms — if we can’t remove it, at least we need to contain it.”

But beyond merely seeking to censor and suppress the reach of conservative media outlets and individuals, however, Biden’s censorship team also pressed Facebook into elevating and expanding the reach of Leftmedia outlets. Flaherty wrote on April 14, 2021: “If you were to change the algorithm so that people were more likely to see NYT, WSJ, any authoritative news source over Daily Wire, Tomi Lahren, polarizing people. You wouldn’t have a mechanism to check the material impact?”

This latest revelation shows that the Biden administration wasn’t content just to censor information it didn’t want Facebook users to see, but it went beyond that, seeking to push Leftmedia outlets that serve the narratives or propaganda it wants. In short, Team Biden was seeking to control what information Americans were given.

As Jordan observed, “The Biden White House wanted to control what you saw on Facebook.” He further noted: “They questioned whether Facebook could change its algorithm so users saw more posts from the New York Times and less from [the Daily Wire] and [Tomi Lahren]. Why did they do that? Because they didn’t think you were smart enough to decide for yourself.”

The emails also reveal that the Biden administration’s pressure campaign on Facebook bore fruit. In an email from July 2021, a Facebook employee effectively gave a summary report to the White House on the process of its suppression campaign:

And we attacked virality aspect through feed demotion. We remove content that can lead to imminent physical harm. For content that doesn’t meet that threshold, we instituted borderline demotions. For example, someone sharing negative side effect posts [on vaccines]. Similarly, posts questioning whether you should get a vaccine under a mandate, whether it’s government overreach. We demote those. That’s not false information, but it leads to a vaccine negative environment. When it comes to looking at COVID misinformation, it’s a different approach. What we normally do is just remove or leave to fact checkers. Here, we introduce a middle ground.

There is increasing evidence that the Biden administration has been engaged in blatantly violating Americans’ First Amendment rights to free speech. Members of Biden’s team have been caught actively seeking to both censor unwanted news and viewpoints while also artificially promoting those narratives and viewpoints they want mainstreamed. This is the stuff of dictatorial regimes in banana republics.

CCP Confusion in K-12 Schools

The Chinese have infiltrated the American classroom.

Emmy Griffin

As if parents didn’t have enough to watch out for in their children’s education, a report just released by a parent group called Parents Defending Education has added another worry to the ever-growing list. This watchdog group has uncovered funding from China — with a side dose of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda — in 143 K-12 schools across the nation.

Readers are perhaps familiar with the college-level brand of the Chinese educational propaganda project called Confucius Institutes. These institutes, under the guise of teaching language and culture, actually undermine American values such as free speech, freedom of religion, and rule of law. Similarly, the K-12 brand of this political indoctrination by a foreign enemy is known as Confucius Classrooms.

According to the Parents Defending Education report:

Further research reveals the People’s Republic of China fostered relationships with American K-12 schools through grants, sister school partnerships, and other programming since at least 2009.

Parents Defending Education tracked affiliations in 143 schools across 34 states and Washington, D.C. — and at least seven are still active. Financial exchanges between K-12 schools and the Chinese government range from a few thousand dollars to, in Thomas Jefferson High School’s case, more than a million dollars.

Disturbingly, the Chinese government’s ties appear to target school districts near 20 American military bases.

Just how much money has the CCP invested in its infiltration scheme? $17,967,565, to be exact. Many of the schools listed in the report are public schools, though there are a handful of private schools as well. Targeted schools range from the humble to the prestigious.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia is one such prestigious school. It has received money and developed ties with Tsinghua University High School. According to The Federalist’s Helen Raleigh, Tsinghua University High School is “affiliated with one of China’s top military schools, Tsinghua University, the alma mater of the CCP’s current leader, Xi Jinping.”

It is eerie that both the radical Left and the CCP are targeting our children. They both seem to know that if you want to change/destroy a culture, indoctrinating its children is a surefire way to start weakening the foundation. It’s also no coincidence that the radical Left and the Chinese are operating under the same communist/Marxist ideology.

As PJ Media’s Kevin Downey Jr. asks: “How many of these [Confucius Classroom] schools are teaching CRT? How many have ‘drag queen story hour’? More importantly, what is being done to stop this invasion of our nation’s schools?”

Though it seems like Congress intervening might be a little late, the House and Senate seem to be aware of at least some of the Chinese infiltration into the U.S. and are taking steps and writing bills to limit or stop them.

Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) has introduced a bill that would ban Chinese or Chinese-owned entities from “buying our farmland to setting up CCP police stations here on U.S. soil, stealing our intellectual property, spying on our military bases, and now buying their way into our children’s K-12 schools.”

As Raleigh points out, parents also need to push back at the local level. Moreover, laws need to be made to discourage schools unable to resist CCP money and clout.

It definitely makes an economic policy statement like GOP hopeful Ron DeSantis’s — particularly regarding divesting the U.S. from China — attractive. Combine that economic policy with banning TikTok and throwing the Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms out on their ears and perhaps some of the instigation in the culture wars will dissipate.

Either way, it’s more aggressive action from a nation that is antagonistic toward our own.

Reagan Family Values Versus Biden Family Values

My father understood he was serving the country. He wasn’t asking the country to serve him — or his family.

Michael Reagan

“In the eight years that my father was President of the United States I never once sat in the room with business associates and called him on the phone. If I had, the Democrats would have skewered me.”

When I posted that tweet the other day, it got a huge response.

As we know from this week’s big whistleblower news, over the course of 10 years — while Joe Biden was vice president and when he was out of power — Hunter Biden put his father on speaker phone at least 20 times during meetings he was having with foreign business people.

That bombshell proved Joe Biden was lying all those times he told voters and the media that he never once talked with Hunter about his sweet business deals with Ukrainian gas companies and Chinese banks.

It also showed how differently Joe and my father were when it came to using the power and political influence of the presidency to enrich their extended families and friends.

The story of how my father “helped” me goes back to Election Night in 1966.

My dad was running for governor of California. I was 21 and working on a trucking dock in Los Angeles, loading oil well freight from 5 p.m. to 1:30 am.

I had just dropped out of college. And when I did, my parents laid down the law.

They said, “While you were in college, we picked up the tab. But now that you’ve dropped out, you get to pick up the tab. Find a place to live and get a job.”

The victory celebration for my dad was at the old Ambassador Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. I got off early from work and remember going up to my father and congratulating him on winning the governorship.

The next thing I did was ask him for a job.

I thought any politician would immediately open the door and give their offspring a job if they wanted it or needed it. But my father said, “I don’t believe in nepotism.”

I guess I should have asked for the job before I voted for him, but he really believed what he said.

When he became president, I got a call from White House lawyer Fred Fielding. It was a simple conversation.

“You are going to be approached by many people who will want to use you to get to your father,” he said. “They will offer you all kinds of things. Please, before you do anything, pick up the phone and call me. Here’s my number.”

Anytime anyone would call me — and many people did — I’d call Fielding. I’d tell him I was approached by X, Y or Z and what they wanted me to do.

Most of the time, Fielding would say, “You’re calling me, so your gut is probably telling you it’s not a good deal. So go with your gut.”

That’s what I did — and still do — because the attempts to buy the Reagan brand have never really stopped.

In 2019, when Volodymyr Zelensky was running for president of Ukraine, I was offered $100,000 just to fly to Kiev to endorse Zelensky.

It wasn’t because I knew anything about Zelensky or Ukraine, it was because of who my father was.

I didn’t have a White House lawyer to call for advice, but I had the knowledge I needed to make the right decision. I went with my gut and declined the Ukrainian offer, figuring it would not look good if I was ever hauled before a congressional committee.

Based on the revelations about the Biden family’s dirty operations, First Son Hunter obviously does things differently. So does his dad.

If I had called my father about endorsing Zelensky he would have told me not to do it, but he was a better kind of president.

He understood he was serving the country. He wasn’t asking the country to serve him — or his family.

“My Republican colleagues can also do a lot more … to unite with Democrats, to make unity the antidote toward these destructive attacks on the rule of law and our democracy.” —Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA)

For the Record

Political Futures

“From the Democrats’ perspective, the ceaseless lawfare against Trump not only makes Trump more likely to be the Republican presidential nominee, but it also bleeds Trump’s coffers and physically distracts him from the campaign trail. A courtroom in New York City or Washington, D.C., after all, is not a rotary club in Des Moines or a VFW in Charleston. Republican voters can, if they so choose, avoid all this nastiness and maximize their chances of restoring civilizational sanity by nominating someone else as their presidential standard-bearer.” —Josh Hammer

“It is increasingly likely a vote for Trump in 2024 will give Biden four more years to radically transform America. … Four more years of Biden and repeated prosecutions will end not just Trump, but Trumpism. His brand of populism will be shut out by regulators, legislators and litigators. … Unfortunately, some will decide that Trump trumps everything else and it must be him or defeat. That nihilism and fatalism is exactly what Democrats hope will happen.” —Erick Erickson

“Republican voters might be open to an alternative to Trump in theory, but they don’t want anyone to criticize him. How to square that circle is the biggest challenge for the rest of the field, at least those members of it genuinely running to win.” —Rich Lowry

Malik Obama Did It Again: Tweets Brother Barack Obama “Must Be Gay” | The Gateway Pundit

Late Sunday night, Malik Obama has once again taken to Twitter to taunt his brother, Barack Obama, the former President of the United States.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Malik Obama said his brother Barack Obama is “definitely gay” in response to the former president’s statement on banning porn books for children.

“Today, some of the books that shaped my life—and the lives of so many others—are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives. And librarians are on the front lines, fighting every day to make the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas available to everyone.” Barack Obama wrote on July 17.

Obama was referring to sexually explicit books such as “Gender Queer” – a book filled with pornographic photos.

“This man is definitely gay,” Malik Obama said in a since-deleted tweet.

On Sunday, Malik takes another cheeky shot at his brother, Barack Obama, with a new tweet suggesting that “This guy [Barack] must be gay” in reference to Barack Obama’s statement on banning pornographic LGBT books.

Last week, The Gateway Pundit reported that an award-winning Barack Obama biographer revealed several “eyebrow-raising” claims about the former president in an interview, including that Obama FREQUENTLY fantasized about having gay sex to a former girlfriend.

The Deafening Silence About the Vax | PaulCraigRoberts.org

Paul Craig Roberts

Here is a small collection of reports from the last day or two documenting the extreme danger of the Covid “vaccine.”  Independent medical scientists, which means medical scientists not on Big Pharma’s payroll, grant list, or subject to control or influence by Big Pharma-associated colleagues, administrators, employers, have proven conclusively that the Covid “vaccine” is far more dangerous than the Covid virus engineered by Tony Fauci’s NIH grants to the University of North Carolina and the Wuhan Laboratory in China.

There are various explanations available about who released the Covid virus and where.  As best as I can conclude, it was released everywhere at the same time, because it simultaneously appeared worldwide before it had time to make the rounds.

This indicates that the “pandemic” was intended and orchestrated.  A large number of professional bodies and governments cooperated.  What does this tell us about the veracity of the explanations that we are given?

It tells us that everything a Western government and associated organizations and the Western media say is a lie.  What we are told are official narratives that serve the agendas of the ruling elite in the West.

The people no longer count.  Accountable government no longer exists in the West.

Western governments censor and imprison truth tellers and require acceptance to their official false narratives unless you want to be fired and be canceled.  The media, including social media, enforces censorship.  If you think you are hearing anything correct from CNN, NPR, NYT or any of the rest of the whore media, you are out of your mind. The media serves to brainwash and indoctrinate and make you useless in the fight for freedom, which is exactly how the ruling elite want you.

World Government on the Horizon?

By Tony Pearce

World government. Could it be that we’re heading towards a world government? One of the things I say when I give my prophecy talks is that there are two things happening in the world today:

The world falling apart, and
The world coming together.

These seem to be the opposites, but we clearly see that as things are falling apart, they’re also coming together.

In February of 2023, the World Government Summit took place in Abu Dhabi, in the Middle East, where some very high-up international leaders spoke about the need for a world government. These included Klaus Schwab, who is the founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. I watched part of his speech there, and one of the interesting things he said was, “There will be certainly what we call the Black Swan [event].”1

What does he mean by that? A Black Swan event is something unexpected that happens and changes everything, and as a consequence of which you’ve got to change the way you live.*

Something big is coming to tip the world into a new world order. That is what Schwab is suggesting. Is it a war? Is it economic collapse? Another pandemic perhaps? He also says:

There are some people who claim that we are now in a de-globalizing world, but actually, I would say, we have to re-globalize this world . . . We have to make sure that we strengthen cooperation because as it was mentioned we are faced with issues that are of existential importance for humankind. Our common future is at stake.2

True! We are faced with problems that carry existential consequences for the human race. If we carry on the way we’re going, we could end up destroying the world and destroying the only place we can live on. So, there is an existential crisis. Schwab spoke about this previously during the 2023 World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, where he stated:

We live in a world of mighty multi-crises. We’re in the midst of a deep systemic transformation process. Many people in a crisis want to go back to the original situation. In the transformation process, you have to manage the change to come out at the end of the situation in a better shape, a different one than the one you were in at the beginning.3

What does he mean by that? He means that the world is in a serious crisis state and that basically the people in this world-government program and in the World Economic Forum are the people who are going to fix it for the rest of us. In other words, they know how to fix the problem. But we, the common people, have got to understand that fixing it doesn’t mean going back to where we came from before the crisis started. There’s got to be a new Global Reset by which we can refix the world in a new way, which in turn would bring a better situation than we were before.

In talking about a global Great Reset, which is what they’re looking for, Schwab talks about it coming through a fourth industrial revolution (also the name of his 2017 book) through the use of new technology. So what exactly does that mean?

The fourth industrial revolution, which is taking place because of the lightning-fast development in technology (e.g., quantum computers being developed), necessitates, in their minds, somebody who’s going to have to control all of that (because the average person—like you and me—doesn’t understand it and doesn’t know how it works). So we need to trust somebody to do the thinking for us and control the world for the sake of humanity.

In an article titled, “How Will the Metaverse Change Our Lives,” Jeremy Bailenson, director of Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab, answers that question. Paraphrasing him here, We can do it safely if you have a world government to do this; otherwise you have people using these technologies to destroy each other, and you’ll also have the technologies themselves which can escape our power to control them.4 That sounds a bit strange. He spoke about quantum computing and about artificial intelligence which is self-replicating.

IS AI A THREAT TO THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY?

What this means is, can artificial intelligence (AI) start creating other intelligences and creating things that will grow out of it and then start controlling us? I don’t know if you have seen the 2004 film called I, Robot. I saw it some time ago. The movie is a fantasy of the future where everyone has a robot. Each robot is basically a kind of slave that does all the jobs for its owner. The robots have to look after their “masters,” but the robots also have intelligence, and they can work out what is needed and wanted from them. The robots come to the conclusion that because of the mismanagement of the world by humans, they are actually destroying themselves. So, the robots say, we are going to take over and tell you what to do.

While this is just a sci-fi fantasy film, it’s an illustration of artificial intelligence (in this case, the robots) taking over and running things. In the film, the hero has to break the power of the now-villain robots to send them back to where they were at the beginning of it all. It’s quite an exciting movie, but it struck me that this is what they’re talking about today with AI. If you let this thing get out of hand, it can start taking on a life of its own.

I recently read about something called Chat Bots where one can talk to a program on the computer, and it talks back and gives advice and so on. What they’re discovering now is that the program on the other end is beginning to take on some kind of personality of its own and tells the participant what to do. Now, presumably, these Chat Bots are taking on the personalities of whoever programmed them, but it seems that this then becomes a self-replicating process, and it may end up controlling rather than being controlled. There is an understandable growing fear of where technology can lead.

At the World Economic Forum, leaders are also talking about implants and wearables that can decode brain activity, control actions; for example, one can just swipe a hand and pay his bills. These devices can detect what’s going on in the mind and can connect to the computer and start working on one’s behalf. Does that sound like a good idea to you?

According to these self-proclaimed world leaders, these implants and wearables can change the way people interact with others, and Klaus Schwab says, “life in 10 years from now will be very different.”5 He also said (and this is most interestingly put), “Whoever can master those technologies will be master of the world.”6

In other words, if someone can get control of these technologies and can start implanting them and putting them on people, he can end up controlling them. Could that be what Revelation chapter 13 is talking about? The mark of the Beast system?

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (Revelation 13:11-18)

I don’t know, but it’s certainly possible.

SO, HOW IS THIS TRANSITION GOING TO HAPPEN?

Klaus Schwab says it’s going to happen through a threat to humanity like Covid, a Black Swan event. He said that at the time of Covid, we lost people because there were some selfish people who didn’t follow what we told them to do. According to Schwab, if that is you, then you are the problem. And there are some people who are lying to you and making you do the wrong things. You need to give power to the leaders who will look after you and give you what you want and will protect you from danger and from “fake news,” and troublemakers.

In order to get this world into the New World Order, two things have to happen:

  • First of all, everyone has to have a digital ID. In other words, everyone has to be on the digital ID system which will contain each person’s information (e.g., government ID numbers, social security numbers, bank account numbers).
  • Second, there needs to be complete control over all information outlets, whether it’s the evening news on the television, the written word, or the Internet, including all websites. There has to be control over this sector so that the “wrong” information doesn’t get out and the “right” information gets posted.

Now, a lot of people are advocating for this. In February 2023, there was an article in The Times (in the UK) in which Tony Blair (Labour ex-prime minister of the U.K.) and William Hague (Conservative ex-minister) joined forces to urge the government to roll out digital ID as a fundamental reshaping of the state around technology.7 Another article titled “UK Official ‘Super App’ for Citizen Economic Data Rollout Inevitable, Says Top Banker” stated:

The UK government will eventually roll out a ‘super app’ that houses each citizen’s combined economic footprint, from credit ratings to know-your-customer (KYC) details, a top banker has predicted. This economic digital ID would aim to follow in the footsteps of the swift and widespread adoption of the UK government’s NHS health app.8

Quoting Bob Wigley, the chair of UK Finance, the article adds:

This financial app will be personal and attached to each citizen as we need a wider fully digital economic identity programme.9

In other words, there’s no use one or two people having it, everybody’s got to have it, and everybody’s got to conform to it. Doesn’t that thrill your heart? Probably not!***

There’s another aspect to all this—the health situation. The World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed an international pandemic treaty10 through which its 194 member states (representing 198 of the countries around the world) would give WHO greater control over emergency health care decisions (that would include things like vaccine passports, global surveillance, and global-coordinated actions that address “misinformation”) wherever it declares a health emergency. An article by Reuters, which is posted on the World Economic Forum website, states:

Negotiations on new rules for dealing with pandemics are underway at the World Health Organization (WHO), with a target date of May 2024 for a legally binding agreement to be adopted by the U.N. health agency’s 194 member countries.11

The article continues:

For the new more wide-reaching pandemic accord, member states have agreed that it should be legally binding for those who sign up, overcoming early reservations from the United States.12
If such a treaty does come into effect (and there’s no reason to believe it won’t) and WHO declares a pandemic, it could potentially overrule national governments, enforce regulations worldwide, enforce lockdowns, make vaccines compulsory, and issue and enforce vaccine passports. In other words, it would give WHO a whole lot of control. Those who don’t follow these regulations will be going against international law.

It will also condemn and try to stop the spread of what it deems as “misinformation” (i.e., information against their narrative).

Basically, that means they’ve got to control the information sector. It has already happened up to a point during the Covid crisis. Last time a set of guidelines was given to the major media outlets and, in their majority, they accepted them. Anybody who went against it just didn’t get a say in the media. If people from medical professions disagreed with some aspect of the treatment of Covid, whether it was lockdown, mask-wearing, compulsory vaccinations (especially the MRNA vaccines), they were silenced; if they were allowed to speak, they were under the tag of “fake news” with an admonishment to listeners/readers that we shouldn’t listen to them.

Therefore, those who don’t conform to the official information platform and narrative won’t be given an opportunity to share their views. Scientists and experts who doubted the wisdom of the lockdown and of the vaccination strategy were effectively silenced with their research or findings that didn’t align with the government’s narrative on Covid and dismissed as “fake news” and conspiratorial.****

An August 2020 article on WHO’s website titled, “Immunizing the Public Against Misinformation,” states:

Soon after the world started getting used to the terms coronavirus and COVID-19, WHO coined another word: “infodemic”—an overabundance of information and the rapid spread of misleading or fabricated news, images, and videos. Like the virus, it is highly contagious and grows exponentially. It also complicates COVID-19 pandemic response efforts. “We’re not just battling the virus,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “We’re also battling the trolls and conspiracy theorists that push misinformation and undermine the outbreak response.”13

What they’re now saying is that this has got to become a legal framework, that, in the event of another pandemic, there has to be control. What this kind of control leads to is a society where certain topics can’t be openly talked about or debated. It’s a control system, and if the pandemic treaty goes through, then the World Health Organization can potentially overrule your government on what happens in your country.

I have mentioned before in other discussions how institutions are using the world’s problems to bring in control systems like the 15-minute cities, control of the media, and also control through Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), which means removing cash from circulation.

Speaking of digital currencies, Agustin Carstens, General Manager of the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) in Geneva, Switzerland, which governs and oversees all central banks, has frequently discussed the efforts to introduce digital currencies into all central banks. With digital currency, it’s a given that people and their spending activities can and will be tracked. [Note: Most developed countries have a central bank. In the U.S., it is the Federal Reserve System. The Bank of England is the central bank for the U.K.]

Not only will there be this new power to track, but there will also be the power to enforce all the rules and laws that go along with this major change in the economic system. A 2021 BBC article states:

The Bank of England and the Treasury have announced they are setting up a taskforce to explore the possibility of a central bank digital currency. The aim is to look at the risks and opportunities involved in creating a new kind of digital money. Issued by the Bank for use by households and businesses, it would exist alongside cash and bank deposits, rather than replacing them. No decision has been taken on whether to have such a currency in the UK. However, the government and the Bank want to “engage widely with stakeholders” on the benefits and practicalities of doing so.14

According to an August 2022 article on the World Economic Forum website:

More than 100 countries, including 19 G20 nations, are now exploring central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).15

We are being told that such changes are only for the betterment of humanity. But if you follow it through, what’s behind the plan? It seems that, in the end, there is definitely an intent to drastically change the way things are, so that at some point, we will only have Central Bank Digital Currencies to buy and sell with—the ultimate goal being a cashless society in which traditional bank accounts will be a thing of the past, and everyone will be put on the CBDC database (controlled by the government). In the worst-case scenario, the government could seize assets and control the ability to buy and sell.

You’ve got something like this already happening in China. Those in control are able to program the digital money (currency) so that it can only be spent in some places. If they decide you’re going against the program, they can cut you out of the system altogether. If they do that, you can’t buy or sell. One human rights organization describes what this looks like:

China’s domestic police agencies collect an extraordinary amount of data about people in order to monitor their activities and identify troublemakers. The state’s surveillance is particularly suffocating in Xinjiang, where the authorities use mobile apps, biometric collection, artificial intelligence, and big data, among other means, to control 13 million Turkic Muslims.

The mass surveillance programs in Xinjiang are China’s most visible and intrusive, but they are just one end of a spectrum. Chinese authorities use technology to control the population all over the country in subtler but still powerful ways. The central bank is adopting digital currency, which will allow Beijing to surveil—and control—people’s financial transactions. China is building so-called safe cities, which integrate data from intrusive surveillance systems to predict and prevent everything from fires to natural disasters and political dissent. The government believes that these intrusions, together with administrative actions, such as denying blacklisted people access to services, will nudge people toward “positive behaviors,” including greater compliance with government policies and healthy habits such as exercising.16

What does it say in Revelations 13? There will be a time when there will be a mandatory mark of the Beast. If someone doesn’t get the mark of the Beast, he or she won’t be able to buy or sell. And receiving the mark of the Beast will be coupled with giving allegiance to the Antichrist. Revelation 14 utterly condemns those who take the mark of the Beast because in essence, those who do so will be worshipping the Antichrist.

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. (Revelation 14:10-11)

Considering the things we have discussed in this article, we can see how the Antichrist could gain control of the world. He will come to sort out the mess the world is in and use this mechanism (the mark) to control people’s ability to buy and sell. This is not far-fetched to believe as it is already being set up and prepared for implementation.

If everybody is uploaded onto this system, we will relinquish any control over whether we can buy or sell, which means that those who don’t submit to that control can’t enter into society. This is the way it’s going, I believe. The signs are pretty clear.

I don’t want to depress you, but, unfortunately, these things are being set in motion. You can see it. You’ve got crisis on one side, everybody falling apart, the wars, the pollution, the destruction; and, on the other side, you’ve got these people who are working together to bring about a new world order, a global reset, a world government.

WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT THE SITUATION?

Don’t panic. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1) This is one thing that we can do. We can believe in God and believe in His Word, and we should not be troubled because God’s going to have the last word.

This Antichrist system of control is not going to last forever. In fact, in the scheme of things, it is going to be short lived. According to the Book of Revelation, the maximum time he is going to be in power is seven years. In other words, his “kingdom” is not going to be a long-term solution for man. It will be the Kingdom that Jesus Christ sets up that is going to be long term—actually it will be eternal, and as the apostle Paul explained:

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:12-14)

What we must do is to choose whom we want to serve. In the Book of Joshua, there’s a verse where it says:

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

And God is saying to the people of the world: “Whom do you want to serve?” Do you want to serve the world leaders I’ve been talking about? Or do you want to serve the Lord?

The people who choose to serve the Lord are going to be in a minority; but a minority with God is already a majority. Therefore, I want to be on the side of the Lord who has the answer and who is the Victor. Let not our hearts be troubled, and let us believe in God.

From the world’s point of view, the worst thing that can happen to someone is death. But for the Christian believer, when we die, we go to be with the Lord forever. In the Book of John, we read the words of Jesus:

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:2-3)

Jesus says, I’m going to come again, I’m going to come again to take you people who believe in me, and you’re going to have a wonderful future.

Unfortunately, those who reject Jesus will have a terrible future. That’s why it’s important now that we get the Word of God out and tell people to believe in the Lord.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:4-6)

There’s one way to go—through Jesus Christ / Yeshua Ha Mashiach, the only Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), the Messiah. He is the Way to go; and He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). He is the One who can bring us to God and give us a glorious future.

So, don’t be troubled, don’t give up, don’t despair. Trust in the Lord. Whatever happens in this world is temporary and passing. World leaders may think they’ve got a lasting solution to the problems of the world, and they may think they are in control; but not only is it not a lasting solution at all, but they are also not in control. Jesus is the only One who has a true and good solution and a true and eternal government and Kingdom. If you believe in Jesus and have placed your trust in Him, you are going to be part of His plan. You’ve got a fantastic future; and nothing can separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39).

If you have not made that decision, please make it now. And for those who have, let us encourage our friends, our families, and all the people around us to make this decision.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

AI—The Offering of Perfectibility
By Carl Teichrib from his book Game of Gods

A vast array of technologies and theoretical applications act like the carrot before the horse: Virtual and augmented reality, brain-computer interfacing and the anticipation of uploading one’s mind into an artificial carrier, ubiquitous connection to the global network, cybernetics and chip implants, Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics and self-replicating machines, nanotechnology, genetic manipulation, chemical switches for mood control and sharpened awareness, and cryonics for those who can afford to invest in a projected reawakening.

Using these technologies and predicting their impact on individuals and civilization, the offering of perfectibility—of forging an optimal species with near infinite capacity through the works of our hands – becomes more than just a tantalizing dream. It becomes a faith.

The other option is to remain as we are, reside in our limitations, struggle for a few decades and die. This is unacceptable.

Thus, science becomes salvific with hope placed in the speculations of what technology may bring.

Trump Indicted For Mocking US Women’s Soccer | Babylon Bee

Article Image

U.S. — Former President Trump is facing yet another indictment, this time for mocking U.S. Women’s soccer after their embarrassing loss to Sweden over the weekend.

“The sanctity of U.S. Women’s soccer is never to be made fun of,” said Special Council Jack Smith after reading the charges. “Every one of those highly attractive and beautiful women is both stunning and brave. We believe Trump violated the constitution somehow by making fun of them on Truth Social, and we will prove it as soon as we can figure out which law he broke.”

According to sources, Trump posted the words “Nice shot Megan” shortly after Megan Rapinoe’s terrible shot in which she kicked the ball like a girl and missed a penalty kick by a mile. “Such cruel, calloused, sexist behavior from Trump must be an obstruction of justice somehow. Or maybe a violation of some obscure 18th-century federal law governing sporting events. We’ll get back to you,” said Smith to reporters.

Sources within the U.S. Women’s team confirmed all the players were distraught by Trump’s mockery and are begging authorities to arrest him before it can happen again. “Please,” said one anonymous source. “Our democracy depends on it.”

At publishing time, the U.S. Women’s Team had demanded higher pay to compensate them for emotional suffering following Trump’s social media post.

Highway to Hell: Ukraine Loses 2,040 Men Since Friday – Scott Ritter: NATO and Ukraine Generals Knew “Massacre” Was “Inevitable” | The Gateway Pundit

Ukrainian BMP-1 APC and T-72M1 tank destroyed outside Rabotino

The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost another 2,040 men on the weekend, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed, bringing the casualties since the start of the Ukrainian “Counter-Offensive” to an estimated 45,000. 55% of Americans now oppose additional spending on Ukraine, CNN reported.

Russia claims to have begun counterattacking against the stalling Ukrainian “Spring Offensive”, and claims to have conquered the village of Novoselivka outside Luhansk. On Friday, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov claimed the Ukrainian military has lost over 43,000 troops and about 5,000 items of military hardware, since it launched its counteroffensive.

The Russian Defense Ministry does not release Russian casualty figures. According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, 249,110 Russian soldiers have died since the beginning of the war, while 4,232 Russian main battle tanks, 8,251 armored personnel carriers and 4,943 artillery units have been destroyed.

On Aug. 3-5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost 2,040 additional men, bringing Ukrainian casualties to over 45,000 since the beginning of the “Counter-Offensive” June 4. The AFU has approx. 200.000 combat soldiers, 36.000 of which were trained at NATO bases like Grafenwöhr, Germany in the past months.

Writing on Russian Sputnik News, US Maj. Scott Ritter called the Ukrainian attack on heavily defended Russian lines with inexperienced troops and no air support a “massacre”, with Ukrainians suffering losses at the rate of 10 to 1 compared to the Russians. Ritter called the “road to Rabotino” east of Zaporizhzhia “a highway to hell”

“The reality is that the Ukrainian counteroffensive was never going to work, under any circumstance”, Ritter writes, despite “tens of billions of NATO-provided equipment.”

“Most of the troops that comprised (the newly-trained Ukrainian) army had little or no prior military experience. They received approximately three weeks of training on military fundamentals, before being trained on the operation (and maintenance) of the new NATO weapons they would be using. Then they spent a few weeks carrying out field exercises designed to simulate an attack on the Russian defenses using complex “combined arms” tactics taught by NATO and American instructors. After this, they were shipped back to Ukraine and sent on the road to Rabotino”, Ritter writes.

“The reduction of a prepared defensive line is one of the most complicated tasks one can assign a military unit in combat, Ritter says. “To successfully execute this mission, the assault forces need to be masters of their craft, operating as part of a combined arms team capable of suppressing enemy forces, and breaching minefields while maneuvering under fire. This is a task that experienced units with years of training under their belts would have difficulty pulling off. For an army like Ukraine’s third-generation force, this was a mission impossible, something every NATO trainer involved in preparing the Ukrainian forces would have known.”

“The massacre that occurred along the road to Rabotino was unavoidable so long as Ukraine and their NATO masters believe that the conflict with Russia can be resolved through force of arms,” according to Ritter. “The Ukrainian generals responsible for giving the orders to the Ukrainian Army, and the NATO trainers who prepared them for battle, knew that the outcome that is transpiring along the road to Rabotino was inevitable.”

“The harsh fact is that tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and billions of dollars of western military equipment have been sacrificed not for viable military purposes, of which there are none, but rather to assuage the political needs of Ukraine’s leaders,” Ritter writes. “Sadly, many thousands more of Ukrainian soldiers, and tens of billions of dollars more of western military equipment, will need to be sacrificed before this lesson is finally driven home.”

“The first several weeks of Ukraine’s long-awaited counteroffensive have not been kind to the Ukrainian troops who were trained and armed by the United States and its allies,” the New York Times writes. “Equipped with advanced American weapons and heralded as the vanguard of a major assault, the troops became bogged down in dense Russian minefields under constant fire from artillery and helicopter gunships. Units got lost. One unit delayed a nighttime attack until dawn, losing its advantage. Another fared so badly that commanders yanked it off the battlefield altogether.” The New York Times promises “a troop surge” in the country’s south, with “a second wave of Western-trained forces launching mostly small-scale attacks to punch through Russian lines.”

55% of Americans now say Congress should not authorize additional funding to support Ukraine, CNN reports. “Republicans broadly say that Congress should not authorize new funding (71%) and that the US has done enough to assist Ukraine (59%). Among Democrats, most say the opposite, 62% favor additional funding and 61% say that the US should do more.“
