Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house
— Acts 16:31
This gospel for a man with a sword at his throat is the gospel for me. This would suit me if I were dying, and it is all that I need while I am living. I look away from self, and sin, and all idea of personal merit, and I trust the LORD Jesus as the Savior whom God has given. I believe in Him, I rest on Him, I accept Him to be my all in all. LORD, I am saved, and I shall be saved to all eternity, for I believe in Jesus. Blessed be Thy name for this. May I daily prove by my life that I am saved from selfishness, and worldliness, and every form of evil. But those last words about my “house”: LORD, I would not run away with half a promise when Thou dost give a whole one. I beseech Thee, save all my family. Save the nearest and dearest. Convert the children and the grandchildren, if I have any. Be gracious to my servants and all who dwell under my roof or work for me. Thou makest this promise to me personally if I believe in the LORD Jesus; I beseech Thee to do as Thou hast said. I would go over in my prayer every day the names of all my brothers and sisters, parents, children, friends, relatives, servants, and give Thee no rest till that word is fulfilled, “and thy house.”

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. (Psalm 97:11)
Righteousness is often costly to the man who keeps to it at all hazards, but in the end it will bear its own expenses and return an infinite profit. A holy life is like sowing seed: much is going out, and apparently it is buried in the soil, never to be gathered up again. We are mistaken when we look for an immediate harvest; but the error is very natural, for it seems impossible to bury light. Yet light is “sown,” says the text. It lies latent: none can see it; it is sown. We are quite sure that it must one day manifest itself.
Full sure are we that the Lord has set a harvest for the sower of light, and they shall reap it, each man for himself. Then shall come their gladness. Sheaves of joy for seeds of light. Their heart was upright before the Lord, though men gave them no credit for it, but even censured them: they were righteous, though those about them denounced them as censorious. They had to wait, as husbandmen wait for the precious fruits of the earth: but the light was sown for them, and gladness was being prepared on their behalf by the Lord of the harvest.
Courage, brothers! We need not he in a hurry. Let us in patience possess our souls, for soon shall our souls possess light and gladness.

“The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of His craftsmanship” Psalm 19:1
When King David was a small lad, his father assigned him the care of the sheep. Day after day, night after night he cared for his sheep as a loving shepherd. No doubt on numerous occasions he would lie on his back and look up at the sun and the vastness of space, during the daytime. At night, the stars and the moon would seem so close that he could almost reach them, as he would talk to the God of his fathers.
The vast expanse of creation captivated him, and instinctively he knew that God, who created it all, was his God and he could trust Him with his life, so that just before he went against the giant Goliath he could say to King Saul, “When I am taking care of my father’s sheep and a lion or a bear comes and grabs a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club…I’ve done it to this heathen Philistine too, for he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who saved me from the claws and teeth of the lion and the bear will save me from this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:34-37).
When David went out against Goliath, he said to the giant, “You come to me with a sword and a spear, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of the armies of heaven and of Israel” (1 Samuel 17:45). Then with a sling and a stone, he killed the Philistine.
I personally believe David triumphed because his confidence in God came not only from the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, but also from the experience that he had had with God, who created all the heavens and the earth.
Bible Reading: Psalm 19:2-6
Today’s Action Point:
I will make a special point to study the vastness of God’s creation through books about science and to take time – not only in Scriptures, but also in books of science – to notice the handiwork of God’s beautiful creation, conscious that it will help me to become more sensitive and alert to the needs of others.

“Oh Lord, what a variety you have made! And in wisdom you have made them all! The earth is full of your riches” Psalm 104:24.
Walking along the trail at Aldergrove Lake Park was the perfect way to spend a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. As my husband and I walked, I noticed that the bleeding hearts, buttercups, and wild strawberries were blooming. The cedar and hemlock trees flaunted their beautiful, fresh, new green growth. Even the alder and maple trees were now full of leaves.
The smell of the woods was so pleasant and brought back memories of the springtime’s when I was in elementary school. It was a two-mile walk each way to school, so on the way home my sister and I often explored — we wanted to see what was on the “other side of the fence.” I remember the trillium’s that bloomed around Easter, but mostly I recall the sweetness of the tiny, wild strawberries in June. It is odd how some memories come up in a person’s mind. There is so much truth in Cesare Pavese’s observation, “We do not remember days, we remember moments.”
I thank the Lord for memorable moments — for the little things in life He gives us to enjoy. It is out of His great store of love for us. How my heart soars with joy and delight when He opens my eyes to the variety of created things He gives us.

Computer Models Show Hurricane Lee Could Make Landfall In New England
Hurricane Lee formed nearly a week ago (read here) and rapidly intensified into a Category 5 (read here) on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Lee has since been downgraded to a Cat. 3 with risks of restrengthening into a Cat. 4 this week while it churns toward the northeast Caribbean. New computer models show landfall impacts could be across Maine and the rest of New England.
New Mexico Governor Loses Control as Armed Citizens Roll Into Albuquerque
What did she think was going to happen? New Mexico’s Democratic governor has been making headlines around the country since she decided her election to a statewide office gave her the power to suspend the Constitution of the United States. And as surely as night follows day, as clockwork as the swallows returning to Capistrano, and as predictably as Americans who object fiercely to being pushed around by a government for no good reason, gun owners in Lujan Grisham’s state responded by rallying in Albuquerque on Sunday, defiantly bearing their firearms. the rally itself shouldn’t be surprising, though it was heartening.
Morocco earthquake death toll passes 2,800, survivors camp outdoors
Villagers in parts of Morocco devastated by the country’s biggest earthquake in over a century camped outside for a fourth night on Monday, as the death toll rose to more than 2,800 people. Search teams from Spain, Britain and Qatar joined Moroccan efforts to find survivors from the 6.8 magnitude quake that struck in the High Atlas Mountains late on Friday, flattening the traditional mud brick houses ubiquitous in the region.
The Prophetic Precursors In The Middle East That Tell Us Something Is Coming
Jesus makes it clear that, as with everyday life, there are also prophetic precursors that tell us something is in the not too distant future. Today we see, for the first time in history, a coalition of nations working together that were identified by Ezekiel over 2500 years ago. Three of them, Russia, Turkey, and Iran, all have troops on the northern border of Israel, the very direction from which the Bible says they will invade. When you combine all these facts, it is like seeing your neighbors box up their belongings or load camping gear on top of the car. You know what’s coming soon.
‘Jews Are The Problem’: Former US Congresswoman Promotes Antisemitic-Black Nationalist Crossover Event
Cynthia McKinney, a former US congresswoman and 2008 presidential nominee for the Green Party, on Monday promoted a livestream event featuring notorious white supremacist David Duke and the black nationalist author of a book called Jews Are The Problem. “Can Black people and White people work together to defeat our common enemy?” written above a large Star of David and a photo of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the US.

Kabbalah End-Times Expert: 9/11 Was Part of Redemptive Process
The 9/11 attacks took place 22 years ago, forever changing America, and according to one end-of days expert, marked a major turning point in the process of redemption. In an interesting parallel, Judaism has its own version of 9/11. To Americans, 9/11 signifies the eleventh day of the ninth month. In Israel, the day is written before the month, so 9/11 becomes the ninth day of the eleventh month. In the Hebrew calendar, 9/11 is Tisha B’Av, the day of mourning when the two Temples were destroyed.

DFL legislators embrace ‘socialist’ label GOP colleague lobbed at them in viral clip
Is describing a Democrat elected office holder as a socialist in 2023 a pejorative? A fair characterization? A compliment, perhaps? That seems to be in the eye of the beholder, at least for a handful of DFL legislators who embraced the label in recent days on social media. Republican Sen. Jim Abeler intimated that the vast majority of legislation passed by the DFL “trifecta” this spring was driven by a handful of “30-something, particularly progressive socialist women.” “Thanks for the reminder Jim that I’m behind on my dues to @TwinPortsDSA (Twin Ports Democratic Socialists of America),” Sen. Jen McEwen, DFL-Duluth, tweeted.

“From The Patriot Post (patriotpost.us)”.
“There exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness; between duty and advantage; between the genuine maxims of an honest and magnanimous policy, and the solid rewards of public prosperity and felicity.” —George Washington (1789)
| On this day in Patriot history in 1918, American doughboys launched the first major U.S. offensive in World War I. In less than two months, the war was over. In today’s news, political battles rage over guns, child abuse, energy, police, and even one of our most solemn days, 9/11. —Mark Alexander |
Even on our nation’s most solemn of days, this president can’t seem to help but lie about himself.
Douglas Andrews

In fairness to Joe Biden, his 9/11 speech from Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, yesterday wasn’t a disaster. But that’s simply because he’s set the presidential speechmaking bar so incredibly low. To our mild surprise, he stood straight and waited for the two speakers before him, Army Major General Brian Eifler and Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Amy Miller, to finish their remarks before he took to the lectern.
Then, whether coked up or not, he proceeded to read the teleprompter well enough to deliver a decent address. Oh, sure, it had that ill-timed and idiotic joke about wishing he’d had Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy blocking for him back in Scranton. “I could’ve been an All-American,” Biden said. And it had that disgraceful and not-so-subtle lumping together of murderous Islamist terrorism with the non-murderous political protest of January 6, 2021. But then, Joe Biden did what he always does.
“Ground Zero in New York,” he said. “I remember standing there the next day and looking at the building. I felt like I was looking through the gates of Hell, it looked so devastating because the way you could — from where you could stand.”
Unfortunately for President Walter Mitty, C-SPAN has videotape coverage of the Senate’s proceedings on September 12, 2001. And not only was Biden in DC, not New York, that day, but he also gave a speech on the floor of the Senate. As Fox News reports, “Records show the Senate met in the morning, and a classified briefing was held for all senators that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET.”
So much for being there at Ground Zero, hallowed ground, “the next day.” Even his own autobiography contradicts yesterday’s claim — although perhaps he’ll say he was misquoted.
Mr. President: It’s your right to tell any tall tale you wish at any occasion you wish, but we’d appreciate it if you didn’t defile 9/11 with your lies.
It’s weird with this president. His penchant for lying is creepy, almost reflexive. Whenever there’s a moment of mourning or solemnity, Biden feels an irresistible Gump-like urge to overdo his consoler-in-chief role by forcing himself into the narrative.
He began doing it years ago by viciously lying that a truck driver “drank his lunch” and killed his first wife and daughter by crossing over the line in the road. In fact, the police report made clear that the truck driver in question hadn’t been drinking and wasn’t even at fault — that, in fact, Mrs. Biden “drove into the path” of the tractor-trailer. “The driver of that truck,” wrote Kevin Williamson back in March, “went to his grave haunted by Biden’s lies, to the point where his children were forced to beg the [then] vice president to stop defaming their late father.”
He’s done it routinely to grotesquely glorify the death of his son Beau, who was 46 when he died of brain cancer in 2015 at Walter Reed Medical Center rather than having “lost his life in Iraq,” where he’d served from 2008-09 with the Delaware Army National Guard. The worst example of this was in late August 2021, during a ceremony at Dover Air Force Base for the 13 fallen warriors who’d been needlessly killed by a suicide bomber at Kabul’s Karzai International Airport. Their deaths were caused by the failure of military command to act on intelligence, but moreover by Joe Biden’s bizarre insistence that we evacuate our forces from Afghanistan by September 11 of that year so that he might claim it as some sort of strategic success. Here, once again, he defiled the meaning of September 11, 2001, by retreating and surrendering to the very regime that had given safe harbor to Osama bin Laden, by cutting and running from the murderous Taliban.
He did it three times just in Pittsburgh last month. He lied that he’d witnessed the Fern Hollow bridge collapse there in 2022, lied that his grandfather had died just days prior to his own birth at the same hospital, and lied about a supposed conversation he’d had with an Amtrak conductor who was actually dead when Biden said he’d talked to him. Call it a lie-fecta.
He lied in Hawaii, telling victims of the horrific wildfire there, the one that took out virtually an entire city and killed at least 115 people, that he could relate because he “almost lost my wife, my ‘67 Corvette, and my cat” in a small kitchen fire at his Delaware home.
Joe Biden, though, saved his worst for last yesterday, when, as The Washington Free Beacon reports, it was announced that the U.S. would waive the threat of sanctions “to allow the transfer of $6 billion in Iranian funds from South Korea to Qatar, a step needed to carry out a previously announced U.S.-Iran prisoner swap, according to a U.S. document seen by Reuters on Monday.”
That’s utterly disgraceful. “First Joe Biden used 9/11 as an excuse to flee Afghanistan,” said Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton. “Now he desecrates this day by paying ransom to the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism. Shameful.”
Is it too much to ask that the United States of America, on the day when we remember the worst-ever terrorist attack in our nation’s history, refrain from doing deals with terrorist states?
We thought not.
Never forget 9/11, fellow Patriots. Never, never forget that day. And don’t let a president’s lies detract from its solemnity or its fundamental importance.
“No constitutional right,” says Michelle Lujan Grisham, “is intended to be absolute.”
Nate Jackson

“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It’s right there in the Second Amendment, which Democrat New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has apparently never read.
In a patently unconstitutional response to “gun violence” (a.k.a. cultural violence among primarily Democrat constituents), Governor Lujan Grisham unilaterally issued an emergency public health order Friday to “suspend” the right of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms in Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least the next 30 days.
She says she wants to “make New Mexicans safer,” but she might have been better off taking a cue from the ridiculous plea for a daytime cease-fire in Chicago. Criminals are about as likely to obey her order as they are to, you know, not murder someone.
“No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute,” Lujan Grisham declared, echoing numerous tyrannical pronouncements made by President Joe Biden. “There are restrictions on free speech. There are restrictions on my freedoms.” She added, “I’ve warned everyone that we expect a direct challenge.”
Indeed, the National Association for Gun Rights and a private citizen have filed a lawsuit. But she’s already lost a challenge. It was called New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, and it was a 2022 Supreme Court decision striking down a law severely restricting the right to bear arms in the Empire State. If a duly passed law was shot down, what does the governor think will happen to her lawless order?
In a press conference announcing the order, the governor was flanked by some cops she used as political props, but not all law enforcement officials are on board. In fact, Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen both publicly refused to enforce it.
“The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office will not enforce this segment of the order,” Allen said at a press conference. “While I understand the urgency, the temporary ban challenges the foundations of our Constitution, but most importantly, it is unconstitutional. My oath was to protect the Constitution, and that is what I will do.”
He added that Lujan Grisham acted despite knowing she didn’t have the support of law enforcement. He further explained that there’s “enough violence in Bernalillo County” without adding political violence or reducing public safety by depriving law-abiding citizens of their “constitutional right of self-defense.”
So the question for Allen, Medina, and other law enforcement officials might be this: “Why not arrest Governor Lujan Grisham?” That’s what stalwart Second Amendment advocate Charles C.W. Cooke wants to know, albeit with tongue-in-cheek.
Lujan Grisham simply wanted to declare this suspension, despite having no legal justification for doing so. To emphasize that point, Cooke “facetiously” argues:
So arrest her — without a warrant and without cause. Put her in prison for 30 days without a trial. Raise her taxes to 100 percent without an appropriations bill. Take her property without reimbursement. Quarter some troops in her home. Impose an excessive fine. Hit her with a bill of attainder — imposed ex post facto if possible. And, for good measure, prevent her from complaining about it by imposing a monthlong gag order — to be lifted once this emergency has gone.
Would that be wrong? Here’s a challenge: Explain why it would be wrong without appealing to the rule of law.
It’s a brilliant thought exercise, though it’s not unlike real-world examples. Governors Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis have both sent many busloads of illegal aliens to sanctuary jurisdictions to prove and highlight the gross hypocrisy of the open-borders crowd. It’s working.
As for New Mexicans, a good many of them are still Americans who understand their rights. Scores of them had the stones to march together in Albuquerque while carrying firearms openly. Democrats must be utterly shocked that no crime broke out during or around that march. No “gun violence” spontaneously erupted merely because guns were present.
Heck, even anti-gun radical David Hogg, “survivor” of the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida, rebuked Lujan Grisham. “I support gun safety,” he said (plagiarizing Democrat Representative Ted Lieu), “but there is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution.” When you’ve lost David Hogg…
Meanwhile, however, Miranda Viscoli, co-president of New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, cheered the order, repeating the banal line, “If it saves one life, then it’s worth doing.”
Stopping people from driving in cars, flying in planes, biking on roads, hiking in the woods, and sitting in bathtubs would also save at least one life, so we look forward to Democrats prohibiting those joys. Ending abortion would save millions of lives, but we don’t hear any leftists clamoring for that.
In short, even the most well-meaning attempts at regulating gun rights either fail to actually save lives or end up costing lives. And when we say “well-meaning,” we’re giving a huge benefit of the doubt because normal Americans who are misinformed by the media often don’t fully understand the implications of gun control. On the other hand, tyrannical politicians like Lujan Grisham who want only to disarm their subjects know exactly what they’re doing.

Parents and schools are being forced to acquiesce to the “transing” of kids through the strong arm of state law.
Emmy Griffin

California, the most radical of all the blue states, has set yet another horrible precedent for the rest of the country. What has been going on in that state is a pitched battle between parental rights and the faux rights of schools and teachers to hide gender transitions or sexual identities of students from their parents.
Five Golden State school districts — Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Chino Valley Unified School District, Rocklin Unified School District, Temecula Valley Unified School District, and Orange Unified School District — have voted in favor of making it policy for teachers to inform the parents should a child choose to change his or her gender identity.
Last week, San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Thomas Garza blocked Chino Valley Unified School District’s new policy from going into effect. Garza claimed that the policy had “no stated, clear purpose” and that it is “singling out a group that is exposed to a clear and present danger.” In other words, Garza is another deluded judicial activist who believes that informing a parent about the radical and harmful decision to adhere to transgender ideology is a suicide risk for the child.
He also justified hiding a gender change by comparing it to hiding a student’s change in religion. It prompts one to wonder if Judge Garza sees radical gender ideology for what it is: a dangerous and harmful cult.
On a larger scale, the state of California is reacting to this push by a handful of school districts for parental rights by passing a horrible piece of legislation. AB 95 passed the State Assembly by a vote of 57-16 and the Senate by a vote of 30-9. This bill is a mandate of sorts that would force parents to affirm their child when he or she decides to declare a different gender. The consequences for not adhering to this new law, set to be signed by Governor Gavin Newsom very soon, would be the removal of children from parents’ homes.
How will that work out? Ask Abigail Martinez, whose daughter was removed from her home over this very issue, and later committed suicide.
To add insult to injury, the State Assembly added another liturgical holiday to the cornucopia of LGBTQ+ days of celebration. The Assembly has declared August “Transgender History Month.” (They are going to run out of calendar days at the rate they are declaring new holidays for the new state religion.) It’s as if to say that not only will they take your children away if you don’t comply, but they are going to make sure your kids are thoroughly “educated” in all the LGBTQ+ doctrine.
For anyone who has been watching this debate in California, the surprising part isn’t the new law. The surprising part were the few school districts that wanted to affirm the rights of parents to raise and guide their children. In essence, what the state of California has told parents is “mess around and find out.”
This cult of radical gender ideology has just launched its first religious inquisition. What starts in California will likely spread to other states like a cancer. Parents, if you value both the physical and mental health of your children, get out of that authoritarian state. “If you love your children,” said state Senator Scott Wilk, (R-Santa Clarita) in June, “you need to flee California.”
Democrat lawmakers there are happy to take away your parental rights and your children if you don’t toe the line. They are happy to set your children up for a life of misery and make them vulnerable to predators. There have already been horror stories from parents in other states of what happened to their kids when the state took them away because of this ideology.
That isn’t freedom. It’s tyranny and state-sanctioned child abuse.
Liberalism has almost nothing in common with leftism, yet virtually every liberal votes for the Left.
Dennis Prager

The greatest reason for the existential threat to America posed by the woke/the progressive/the Left is that liberals vote for them.
If liberals voted for their values, the Left-wing destruction of every American institution — the American Medical Association and medical profession generally; the universities, high school and elementary schools; and the military, among many others — could not happen.
This is the American tragedy in a nutshell: The Left votes its values. The Right votes its values. Liberals do not vote their values. Liberalism has almost nothing in common with leftism, yet virtually every liberal votes for the Left.
Liberals believe in racial integration. The Left believes in racial segregation (all-black dorms on college campuses, for example).
Liberals believe in the ideal of color-blindness. The Left rejects the ideal of color-blindness. In fact, the Left claims the very term “color-blind” is racist.
The Left maintains that all whites are racist. No liberals do.
Liberals have always believed in America (without ignoring its flaws). The Left believes America is and has always been a fundamentally immoral country.
Liberals have always believed in free speech, which, by definition, includes “hate speech.” The Left, on the other hand, does not believe in freedom of speech. There is no example in history — from the French Revolution to the Russian Revolution to the contemporary American campus — of the Left not suppressing dissent.
Liberals have always been in the forefront of those supporting Israel. The Left is anti-Israel and supports Israel’s enemies.
Liberals have always supported capitalism, knowing that there is no other economic system that maintains liberty or lifts vast numbers of people from poverty. The Left believes capitalism is evil.
Liberals regard the flag as a symbol of freedom. The Left regards the national flag as a symbol of racism and colonialism.
The Left supports giving hormone-blocking drugs to pre-pubescent children who say they are the opposite sex; removing the healthy breasts of teenage girls and young women who say they are boys; and castrating boys who say they are girls.
The Left fights for the “right” of men who say they are women to compete in women’s sports. No liberal does.
The list of liberal-leftist differences is almost as long as left-wing positions. So, the question is why? Why do liberals vote left, given that the average liberal has so much more in common with most conservative positions than with most left-wing positions?
There are three primary reasons.
One is that the average liberal has no idea what the Left is doing to the country. Whenever I relate a left-wing action or position to liberal friends or relatives, they almost all say, “That’s crazy,” and thereby dismiss the action or position as that of a handful of weirdos. Most liberals have no idea what leftists are doing to deprive children of their sexual innocence: Ask any liberal in your life if they know what “Drag Queen Story Hour” is, or that professors have to take oaths committing themselves to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in order to obtain or retain employment. In fact, I suspect few liberals even know what “DEI” stands for. Liberals read only The New York Times or The Washington Post or some other major urban newspaper and they only watch CNN and listen to NPR. Therefore, liberals know almost nothing about the Left.
The second reason is most liberals have chosen to believe that the Democratic Party is still the party of John F. Kennedy. They are fooling themselves. It is the party of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, George Soros and teachers unions.
The third reason is liberals have been brainwashed from their youth to believe that Republicans represent “the rich” and that “Right” is synonymous with “fascist.” The opposite is true: it is the Democratic Party they reflexively vote for that represents the interests of the wealthy and that is stealthily and steadily imposing fascism — the merger of state and corporate power.
For these reasons, it is the nice liberal who is enabling the vile Left to destroy the country many liberals still love.

The energy-rich state is oddly dependent on renewables, which are utterly dependent on the weather.
Michael Swartz

Texans dodged a bullet of rolling blackouts by about 15 minutes last week, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, better known as ERCOT.
In a state that uses a lot of air-conditioning energy in the summer due to temperatures regularly exceeding 100 degrees, it was a perfect storm without rain: scorching temperatures, slight breezes that rendered wind turbines all but useless at a third of their average output, and a time of day when the viability of solar panels diminishes due to the low sun angle. These aren’t uncommon during a Texas summer, but there was also an issue with an overheating transmission line and natural gas backup plants, which contributed to the problem.
Lone Star residents are conscious of the prospect of rolling blackouts. They well remember the outages of February 2021, when a severe winter storm led to problems with both the wind turbines and natural gas lines; both froze up due to rare bone-chilling weather and deep snow. Since then, there’s been a call to spend billions to improve the grid but not so much thought to adding more all-weather solutions like producing electricity with coal or nuclear power.
On the former point, the Wall Street Journal editorial board weighed in: “The Legislature is asking voters in November to approve a special fund to issue low-interest loans and grants for building more backup power sources — namely, gas plants. So now Texas taxpayers are being asked to subsidize gas power to back up solar and wind that are heavily subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.”
While Texas is still sitting on a sea of oil, many residents might be surprised to find out that renewables can supply up to 40% of their energy needs. Areas with plentiful and strong sunshine make Texas a good solar state, and the wind out on the plains can generally keep those turbines a-turnin’. But these benefits are based on favorable weather conditions, and last week they weren’t favorable.
“The reason we’re here today is the wind has dropped down a bit,” said University of Houston energy fellow Ed Hirs. “Everyone knows the hottest days in Texas are those when the wind doesn’t blow. Number two, we had power plants break. It doesn’t take but two or three to break to put us into a deficit situation.” Hirs added that those backup plants had been running more or less constantly since May, so issues were to be expected.
In situations like this, ERCOT has a set of procedures to follow, beginning with a conservation alert that’s nonbinding. If that doesn’t work, ERCOT can follow through with cutting power to various industrial customers who have agreed to shut down their operations in such an emergency. The final step is rolling blackouts.
And while these issues are expensive for consumers as utilities pay through the nose for electricity, the power-cutting agreement has become a lucrative source of side income for one power-hungry industry. According to Matt Houston of WFAA-TV, during August, Texas paid one bitcoin mining company nearly $32 million not to operate. Bitcoin mining operation Riot even told its shareholders it made more money off conserving power than it did mining cryptocurrency.
While average ratepayers currently can’t get in on the bonuses that companies like Riot accrue, ERCOT has partnered with Texas A&M University to study how including consumers in demand response programs may work. As ERCOT CEO Pablo Vegas put it, “We can understand the magnitude of what it could represent and what potentially the cost would be if we were to invest and incentivize the development of that.”
With fall right around the corner, Texas will soon get a much-needed reprieve from its annual oven-like summer heat. But the respite would be a good time for consumers to demand a more reliable system — and for utilities to begin building it.

The question is did Joe Biden, as vice president of the United States, sell his influence in exchange for favors and large cash payments which were then disbursed to various members of the Biden family including Hunter Biden? In theory, this is the essence of the information on the infamous Hunter Biden laptop. There is certainly something there, the question is how much can be proven by the Republicans who are not known for their ability to plan and execute any type of political strategy.
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2 (KJB)
If the GOP is unable to pull this off, it will actually work to strengthen Biden’s position and standing, not weaken it. But if Biden is successfully impeached, do the Democrats take that as a win because now they can dump Biden who has become a liability? However all this plays out, it’s already been decided behind the scenes, as has the 2024 president election.
FROM BREITBART NEWS: Speaking in the U.S. Capitol Building, McCarthy opened the inquiry by stating that House Republicans uncovered “serious and credible allegations” against President Biden. McCarthy said House investigators found that Joe Biden lied about his involvement in the family business and that bank records show many payments were directed to Biden family members through shell companies. He also noted an FBI informant file that alleged Joe Biden was bribed by a Ukrainian energy executive.
“Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption,” he said. “These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”
“That’s why today, I am directing our house committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” he continued. “This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. It’s exactly what we want to know: the answers.”
The impeachment inquiry is intended to uncover additional information about Joe Biden’s involvement in the Biden family business.
The impeachment inquiry could lead to a full House vote on articles of impeachment. If approved by 218 votes in the House, the articles would be conveyed to the Senate, where the higher chamber would be forced to hear the evidence during a Senate trial.

Polling supports the need for an impeachment inquiry. Sixty-one percent of Americans believe Joe Biden was involved in his family’s business deals with China and Ukraine, according to a recent CNN survey. Only 38 percent say he was not involved, and just one percent say he was involved and did nothing wrong.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced an investigation into Joe Biden in November. The following months proved to justify Comer’s probe. Bank records in May showed the Biden business received at least $10 million from business schemes in Romania and China. Comer revealed in August the Biden family business received over $20 million from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan while Joe Biden was vice president.
In total, nine Biden family members received payments from the family foreign business ventures, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren. READ MORE

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In what might be a stunning possibility of a development, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy finally announced he has greenlit a probe to determine whether or not there may be, at some point, the potential to investigate the possibility of considering having hypothetical meetings to maybe discuss having further discussions about perhaps thinking about launching impeachment proceedings against an alleged individual who may or may not be President Joe Biden at an undetermined date at some point in the future.
“I can confirm that it is a solid possibility,” McCarthy said when making the announcement. “There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we might do it. I am, without any hesitation, firmly committed to potentially following through with this. There is definitely a strong desire to maybe launch an impeachment probe to investigate the initial idea of doing something. Absolutely maybe.”
The outcry from the American people and prominent conservative political pundits has only grown louder over the last several months as new allegations regarding President Biden’s corruption have been brought to light. In response, McCarthy stressed the need for caution. “We simply cannot rush into this type of investigation without evidence,” he said. “If we were to be presented with a seventh or eighth mountain of clear evidence, it may persuade us to tentatively schedule preliminary meetings to talk about a non-specific framework of a hypothetical probe.”
At publishing time, rumors from Capitol Hill sources indicated McCarthy would be ready to move forward with impeachment proceedings as soon as he came up with the best way to obstruct it.

One does not have to be a Trump ally or even like him very much to recognize the magnitude of the injustice being waged on him.
So much so that a fierce adversary of Americans just made this exact public admission.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was speaking about the cultural and economic development of the Far East in his address to the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), but he was also outlining goals and discussing challenges for the near and distant future of Russia.
Sputnik reported:
“Moving on to the issue of the 2024 presidential election in the United States, Russia’s leader was of the opinion that they will not change in Washington’s policy towards Moscow.
‘I think that there will be no fundamental changes in the Russian direction in US foreign policy, no matter who is elected president’, Putin said, adding that Moscow is not aware who will be elected, in a nod at the since-debunked claims of the Trump-Russia collusion ahead of 2016 elections.
The Russian President also said that accusations against ex-President Donald Trump regarding his alleged ‘ties’ with Moscow are ‘complete nonsense’.
‘As for the prosecution of Trump… for us, what is happening in today’s conditions, in my opinion, is good, because it shows how rotten the American political system is… All that’s happening with Trump is political persecution of a political rival’, Putin said.”
WATCH:
Putin was asked about the fact that Trump always praised his good relations with Putin and claimed more recently he could resolve the Ukraine war in a matter of days if he regains the presidency.
Al Jazeera reported:
“’We hear Mr Trump say he will solve pressing problems in a few days, including the Ukrainian crisis. Well, this cannot but bring happiness. This is good’, Putin said.
But he said the idea Trump had special ties with Russia was ‘complete nonsense’.
However, Putin reiterated that Russia’s relations with the US are unlikely to change regardless of who leads the country.
‘What to expect from the future, no matter who the president is, it’s hard for us to say, but it’s unlikely that anything will change radically’, Putin said.”
Putin noted that, by and large, Russians are not interested in who will take this post there. It was mostly Trump, he argued, who introduced more sanctions against Russia.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., charged the House of Representatives to move forward on an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden based what Republicans have characterized as Biden family influence peddling.
“I’m directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” McCarthy said Tuesday. “This is the logical next step that will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public.”
McCarthy said the investigation will be led by House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo.
The speaker noted offenses could include abuse of power, obstruction and corruption.
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has obtained bank records that show the Biden family raked in at least $20 million from foreign individuals and entities from Biden’s time as vice president under President Barack Obama.
Much of this came from Hunter Biden’s foreign business operations in China, Ukraine, Romania and other countries. But the committee has found that at least nine members of the Biden family have received payments.
In July Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, released an FD-1023 form from the FBI showing that a confidential informant told the bureau that an executive with Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm, paid a $5 million bribe to Biden while he was vice president to affect U.S. policy to benefit the company.
“Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption,” McCarthy said.

The post ‘Logical Next Step’: McCarthy Announces Biden Impeachment Inquiry appeared first on The Daily Signal.
As TGP and others reported earlier Tuesday was likely to happen, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced he is directing House committees to open an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden. The move by McCarthy comes as he faces a potential motion to vacate by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

During the House’s recent month-and-a-half long summer recess, McCarthy had said he wanted to put an impeachment inquiry to a vote by the full House. However with a razor thin majority and doubts raised by some Republican Congressmen including Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), McCarthy has opted for the ‘Pelosi precedent’ of impeachment inquiry first, vote second.
McCarthy announced the impeachment inquiry in remarks at the Capitol late Tuesday morning:
“I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Over the past several months, House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct—a culture of corruption.”

— Kevin McCarthy (@SpeakerMcCarthy) September 12, 2023
“Over the months we were gone, the weeks, House Republicans of have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct. Taken together these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption. Now here is what we know so far: Through our investigations we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the President joined on multiple phone calls, and had multiple interactions, dinners, resulting in cars and millions of dollars into his son’s and his son’s business partners. We know that bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various shell companies. The Treasury Department alone has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family and other business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks. Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family.
Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partners about Hunter’s role in Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company. Finally, despite these serious allegations, it appears that the President’s family has been offered special treatment by Biden’s own administration–treatment that not otherwise would have received that they were not related to the President.
There are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. And they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. That’s why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. That’s exactly what we want to know: the answers. I believe the President would want to answer these questions and allegations as well. This effort will be lead by Chairman James Comer of Committee on Oversight, in coordination with Chairman Jim Jordan for Judiciary Committee, and Chairman Jason Smith on Ways and Means.
I do not make this decision lightly. And regardless of your party or who you voted for, these facts should concern all Americans. The American people deserve to know that the public offices are not for sale. And that the federal government is not being used to coverup the actions of a politically associated family. Now I would encourage the President and his team to fully cooperate with this investigation in the interest of transparency. We are committed to getting the answers for the American public, nothing more, nothing less. We will go wherever the evidence takes us. Thank you very much.

Reminder: McCarthy already said weeks ago on Fox he’d move forward with an impeachment. An appearance in which he based his impeachment push on non-existent obstruction of a non-existent request. Why no mainstream accountability for that falsehood?…McCarthy is being told by Marjorie Taylor Greene to do impeachment, or else she’ll shut down the government. Opening impeachment despite zero evidence of wrongdoing by POTUS is simply red meat for the extreme rightwing so they can keep baselessly attacking him. They admit it.”

The post BREAKING: Speaker McCarthy Orders Impeachment Inquiry into Joe Biden appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
Amid the complex landscape in which conservative House Republicans are demanding cuts to the federal budget, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appears poised to support conservatives’ call for an impeachment inquiry concerning President Joe Biden.
According to Punchbowl News, a Washington-based online news site, McCarthy is expected to tell his conference during a closed-door meeting Thursday that a formal impeachment inquiry is the “logical next step” of existing committee-level investigations into the president and his son, Hunter Biden.
The report said McCarthy, who is under pressure from GOP conservatives, is expected to tell Republican members that enough information has been found to create a formal process that would then have the power to subpoena bank records of Biden family members and secure other documents.
The impeachment process, as with the budget process, has multiple Republican Party crosscurrents.
Moderate Republicans such as Reps. Ken Buck of Colorado and Don Bacon of Nebraska have said they don’t see the facts gathered to date as rising to the level of impeachment.
However, conservative Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida has said if McCarthy fails to launch a formal inquiry, he will begin the process of removing McCarthy as speaker.
The impeachment inquiry is inextricably tangled with the process of adopting a federal budget.
As noted by Axios on Tuesday, some conservatives have said they will not vote for budget bills unless an impeachment inquiry begins.
However, according to CNN, Senate Republicans such as West Virginia’s Shelley Moore Capito, Alabama’s Tommy Tuberville and Florida’s Marco Rubio, have looked askance at impeachment, meaning even if an inquiry is launched, achieving anything seems unlikely at this point.
McCarthy said Monday that new revelations are popping up constantly, referencing the president’s use of fake names in emails to his son, Hunter Biden, while he was vice president, according to NBC.
“It only raises more and more questions, and we’re gonna have to find the answers,” McCarthy said. “And this is all information that just has been coming forward that we’ve been able to find out. But the other information is we find that the Biden family delays everything. It benefits them to delay the information. The American public deserves to know.”
Some House conservatives say even going ahead with impeachment will not alter their resolve to force budget cuts, perhaps even at the cost of a government shutdown when the current budget expires at the end of the month, according to Fox News.
Conservative Republican Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina has accused McCarthy of “dangling” impeachment to keep Republicans in line on the budget, according to Fox.
Other conservatives are restive.
“Hiding behind impeachment to screw America with status quo massive funding … will not end well,” Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said earlier this month, according to Fox.
“You’re not going to trade one for the other with me, and I think a lot of members feel that way,” Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, who chairs the conservative Freedom Caucus said, according a Washington Post report published Tuesday.
“We’re asking for a very modest change in the status quo,” Perry said. “And, oh, by the way, it’s one that the speaker agreed to in January.”
The Post, citing sources it said were lawmakers and senior aides to leaders, said the likely outcome of all the arguments is to postpone the day of reckoning by approving a continuing resolution to fund the government through the end of October while budget issues were hashed out.
