Perfection and Preservation | VCY

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

What will He do? He will sanctify us wholly. See the previous verse. He will carry on the work of purification till we are perfect in every part. He will preserve our “whole spirit, and soul, and body, blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” He will not allow us to fall from grace, nor come under the dominion of sin. What great favors are these! Well may we adore the giver of such unspeakable gifts.

Who will do this? The Lord who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light, out of death in sin into eternal life in Christ Jesus. Only He can do this: such perfection and preservation can only come from the God of all grace.

Why will He do it? Because He is “faithful”—faithful to His own promise which is pledged to save the believer; faithful to His Son, whose reward it is that His people shall he presented to Him faultless, faithful to the work which He has commenced in us by our effectual calling. It is not their own faithfulness but the Lord’s own faithfulness on which the saints rely.

Come, my soul, here is a grand feast to begin a dull month with. There may be fogs without, but there should be sunshine within.

Let Your Light Shine | Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God.

“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before men” Matthew 5:16

Someone told me that we influence at least 250 people during our lifetime. Today, with the Internet connecting us with more people, I believe our influence is much greater.

I watched a true story featured on the video Paradise Road. It told of a woman who used her influence and training to give a group of women hope, courage, peace, unity and a reason to keep living.

The women were prisoners of war. They came from diverse backgrounds – high society and farmers. They were from different countries. At first they didn’t trust each other, but as life become more difficult for them, they began to work together.

God used this woman in an amazing way. With her music and organizational abilities, she united the women to form an orchestra and patiently taught them how to use their voices to sound like instruments. Soon they were able to create a beautiful concert.

She gave them something to beautiful to focus on besides their own misery and their horrific surroundings. Every day women died at the hands of their captors or from disease, but the group was able to keep going because of her courage.

There were, of course, some women who wouldn’t join the choir and watched from afar, but most followed her.

Over half the women in the choir died. One day, when they were having yet another funeral procession, one of the guards asked her, “Where is your choir now?”

Instead of letting his remark discourage her, she picked up two rocks and began banging out a rhythm. Soon others followed her example, using sticks, shoes – whatever they could find. They were an orchestra again and were encouraged. Even those who usually sat and watched joined in the music.

Finally the war was over and they were set free. This woman had given them hope, courage, and even joy by inspiring them to make something beautiful in dire circumstances.

You are like this woman when Jesus Christ controls your life,

You shine like stars…as you hold out the word of life” (Philippians 2:15).

You help women see something beautiful in life, no matter the circumstances. You are the light of the world.

Think for a moment about the people you influence. The ones you meet at your local coffee shop, the grocery store, clothing store and online, as well as your neighbours, coworkers, church and family. God can use you to help introduce people to Christ, the One who brings light into our souls and eyes. Why not point them to the gospel in the related link, How to Know God Personally.

Father of light, we thank You that You place joy, hope, light and a reason to keep living in our hearts. Give us the courage to spread that light to everyone with whom we come into contact. Amen.

“You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  Psalm 139:13-14

Thought

I am made by God! You are made by God. Just as surely as ANYone has been made by God, we have been made by God. He knew us before anyone knew we were there. He had plans for us before anyone planned our arrival. And he made us well! How do we know? Look at all God has made.

Prayer

God Almighty, my Savior and Redeemer, thank you for knowing me before I was able to know. Thank you for choosing my life and giving it to me. Thank you for giving me the gifts, abilities and talents that you have given me. Now please help me live as if I was made special by you, because I am! Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

Why the Global South is against the EU’s anti-deforestation law

Hemingway: Democrats’ 2024 Strategy Is To Prevent Free And Fair Elections

America’s ‘Rainbow’ Military Is On Track To Lose Another Major War
US military asks the public for help finding its missing F-35 fighter jet after its pilot had to eject while training over South Carolina.” While the above Insider headline may sound like a comedic piece straight from the pages of The Babylon Bee, it’s not. The U.S. military actually publicly claimed it had lost a multi-million-dollar fighter jet.

Why The American Revolution Still Matters
Teaching” at your average public school is mostly about running a taxpayer-funded propaganda mill and daycare center, and has little to do with the dissemination of any factual material. Thus, it is likely that the staff at this school saw on MSNBC once that the Gadsden flag is “racist” because some American conservatives wave it. The leap from this slur to the idea that the flag is a symbol of slavery is brief indeed. This whole narrative is part of the story pushed by the “1619 Project” at the New York Times which would have us believe that the American Revolution itself was all about racism and slavery.

FEATURED ANALYSIS

Garland Stonewalls Congress

Douglas Andrews

It was all Donald Trump’s fault. That was Attorney General Merrick Garland’s message yesterday as he was being grilled by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.

When asked why his Department of Justice had slow-walked the Hunter Biden investigation and allowed the statute of limitations to expire on his federal tax-evasion charges, Garland said, “There’s one more fact that’s important, and that is that this investigation was being conducted by Mr. Weiss, an appointee of President Trump. You will, at the appropriate time, have the opportunity to ask Mr. Weiss that question and he will no doubt address it in the public report that will be transmitted to the Congress.”

Garland is right that David Weiss was a Trump appointee, recommended to him at the time by Delaware’s two Democrat senators. And Garland is also right that House Republicans will have a chance to question Weiss — on October 11, if Garland keeps his word and allows it. But he’s wrong when he tries to blame the Trump DOJ for the investigative slow-walk. Remember: Trump actually got impeached for calling attention to the Bidens’ Ukrainian enrichment scheme.

The tax violations, which involve unpaid taxes on hundreds of thousands of dollars that Hunter Biden was paid while on the board of corrupt Ukrainian energy company Burisma, date back to the last years of Barack Obama’s administration, when Hunter’s dad was vice president and was overseeing the administration’s policy toward Ukraine.

It was at this same time, in December 2015, that then-VP Biden traveled to Ukraine and threatened to withhold $1 billion in earmarked aid unless Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired. And it was at this time that the VP’s son was getting money for nothing while serving on the board of the company, Burisma, which Shokin was investigating.

“We all know why they did it,” Jordan said in response to Garland’s non-answer about the expiration of the tax charges. “Everyone knows why they did it … those tax years, that involved the president. It’s one thing to have a gun charge in Delaware. That doesn’t involve the president of the United States. But Burisma? Oh my, that goes right to the White House.”

Shokin was ultimately fired in March 2016, and Joe Biden later bragged about it to the Council on Foreign Relations. And while we have to tip our cap at the audacity of Merrick Garland’s attempt to blame Donald Trump, the statute of limitations on Hunter Biden’s tax-evasion charges expired on Garland’s watch.

Why was Jordan so focused on this matter, which is just one of many acts of malfeasance and subsequent stonewalling by Garland’s Justice Department? Because the Burisma quid pro quo is the Rosetta Stone of Biden Crime Family corruption. If Joe Biden is ultimately impeached by the House of Representatives, it’ll be in large part due to his corrupt actions involving Ukraine while his son was on Burisma’s board of directors.

Texas Republican Troy Nehls also got into the Burisma act, “telling” Garland a question: “Joe Biden threatened the Ukrainian president and prime minister to fire Shokin. If that is not quid pro quo, sir, what is? It’s bribery, and it’s impeachable. Are you gonna do something about it? I bet you’re not. And that’s why you also need to be impeached.”

Asked and answered. Garland does deserve to be impeached. He is, it’s fair to say, the most corrupt attorney general in our nation’s history. Nixon’s AG, John Mitchell, served 19 months in prison for his role in the Watergate cover-up, but this guy makes Mitchell look like a piker.

Elsewhere during yesterday’s hearings, Garland gave conflicting answers about whether Weiss had full investigative authority over the Hunter Biden case. Garland has maintained that Weiss had full charging authority, but that claim is entirely at odds with what Weiss told a room full of IRS agents, according to whistleblower testimony.

Someone is lying, and if it’s Garland, again, it ought to be impeachable.

Things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for Garland and his “Justice” Department in its dogged defense of Hunter Biden. Plan A was for the aforementinoned Weiss to slow-walk the federal tax-evasion and gun charges against the first son, let the statute of limitations expire on the tax charges, and simply not charge him at all on the gun rap. But that plan became untenable as House Republicans turned up the heat and two IRS whistleblowers shed damning light on the DOJ’s malfeasance. So it was on to Plan B, which was a sweetheart plea deal, which was ultimately blown up by a gritty Trump-appointed judge, Maryellen Noreika. And finally, we now have Plan C, which necessitated that now-Special Counsel Weiss indict Hunter on the tightly defined gun charge, which has nothing to do with the tax charges and the Ukrainian influence peddling and the Big Guy.

But, as Garland testified, he doesn’t know anything about any of this. Actually, Garland claims he doesn’t know much about anything. “Have you had personal contact with anyone at FBI headquarters about the Hunter Biden investigation?” asked Louisiana’s Mike Johnson.

“I don’t recollect the answer to that question but the FBI works for the Justice Department,” Garland meekly replied.

To which Johnson shot back incredulously: “I’m sorry, you don’t recollect whether you talked to anyone at FBI headquarters about an investigation into the president’s son?”

Uh-huh.

In yet another example of Garland’s phony cluelessness, he got himself in a bit of a perjury bind yesterday. In this case, it was Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie who pressed Garland on his prior testimony regarding the FBI’s involvement in the events of January 6, 2021.

“How many agents or assets of the government,” asked Massie, “were present on January 5th and January 6th and agitating in the crowd to go into the Capitol, and how many went into the Capitol? Can you answer that now?”

Garland: Dunno.

Massie continued to press: “You don’t know how many there were? Or there were none?”

Garland replied: “I don’t know the answer to either of those questions — if there were any, I don’t know how many. I don’t know whether there are any.”

Massie then grinned in disbelief: “I think you may have just perjured yourself,” he said, “that you don’t know that there were any? You want to say that again, that you don’t know that there were any?”

Here we might call AG Garland’s attention to a story published earlier this week by the New York Post’s Miranda Devine — a story whose headline reads: “FBI lost count of how many paid informants were at Capitol on Jan. 6, and later performed audit to figure out exact number.”

Apparently, as Devine reports, “The FBI had so many paid informants at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, that it lost track of the number and had to perform a later audit to determine exactly how many ‘Confidential Human Sources’ run by different FBI field offices were present that day, a former assistant director of the bureau has told lawmakers.”

As we pointed out yesterday and as far back as March 2022, if we’re to believe the unguarded words of Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Matt Rosenberg, who was there himself that day and who said, “There were a ton of FBI informants among the people who attacked the Capitol.”

Perjury? It sure sounds like it. Although we doubt anything will come of it. Perjury just doesn’t seem to be as big a deal as it used to be. At least not for a sitting attorney general.

Schumer Caves on Three Military Promotions

Tommy Tuberville’s hold over the Pentagon’s illegal abortion policy is still in place.

Nate Jackson

Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is a brilliant strategist and tactician who embarrassed the old football coach from Alabama, Republican Tommy Tuberville. Or at least that’s what the Leftmedia are telling us after recent events in the Senate.

Here’s a quick history refresher:

After the Supreme Court rightly overturned Roe v. Wade last year, Democrats “led” by Joe Biden went into overdrive to politicize abortion. The commander-in-chief followed recent Democrat presidents by increasingly treating the military as a petri dish for leftist social experimentation, in this case illegally violating the Hyde Amendment (that he, the “good Catholic,” had long supported) by using taxpayer dollars to ensure abortion access for military personnel.

“The Pentagon’s policy provides three weeks of taxpayer-funded paid leave and reimbursement of travel expenses for military personnel and dependents who are seeking abortions,” reports The Daily Signal. “An estimate from the Rand Corp. predicts the number of abortions in the military eligible for taxpayer-covered expenses would skyrocket from 20 to more than 4,000 each year.”

Early this year, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville took a stand — no military promotions by unanimous Senate consent until Biden restores the Rule of Law on abortion.

Tuberville held the line despite all kinds of pressure, though he made clear that each and every military promotion could still be voted on individually by the Senate. He was only putting a hold on unanimous consent. Nevertheless, Democrats suddenly became Very Concerned™ with national security, decrying Tuberville’s “blockade” for hampering military readiness.

Say the same people who supported Biden’s move to oust thousands of top-notch, healthy warriors who declined to take the COVID jab. Say the same people who want taxpayers to pay for “gender transitions” for service personnel. Say the same people who are totally preoccupied with “white supremacists” supposedly overrunning the ranks.

Anyway.

The months-long standoff partially ended yesterday, when Schumer folded and scheduled three votes on promotions, including for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It was a tacit admission that Tuberville was right all along and it was really intractable Democrats who’d rather pay for abortions than promote military officers.

Naturally, Schumer tried to put lipstick on his pig and claim victory over Tuberville. “I have just filed cloture on the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the commandant of the Marine Corp, and the army chief of staff,” Schumer said. “These men should have already been confirmed. They should already be serving in their new positions. The Senate should not have to go through procedural hoops just to please one brazen and misguided senator. But this is where we are.”

Outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley is departing September 30, and Air Force General Charles “CQ” Brown was confirmed 83-11 yesterday to take his place. The other votes will Marine Corps General Eric M. Smith and Army General Randy George are likewise set for votes to lead their respective branches, and Schumer will likely do so for the Navy and Air Force too. Some 300 other promotions remain on hold, with many more possibly affected by year’s end.

“My hold is still in place,” Tuberville said. “The hold will remain in place as long as the Pentagon’s illegal abortion policy remains in place. If the Pentagon lifts the policy, then I will lift my hold. It’s as easy as that.”

Indeed it is. Follow the law, and promotions can continue. Lawless Democrats would rather exploit abortion for political gain.

Executive News Summary

Cross-Examination

  • Biden’s border invasion update: Unlike Joe Biden’s delusional claims, climate change is not the biggest existential crisis facing America. Rather, the true crisis is one of his own making — the invasion of illegal aliens streaming across our southern border. That invasion is getting worse, as 7,500 migrants were apprehended illegally crossing this past Sunday alone. Dealing with this massive number of illegals, the Biden administration has been separating migrant families, a policy about which Democrats and their Leftmedia cohorts are suddenly mum despite blasting Donald Trump. This influx has a growing number of “sanctuary” Democrats crying “no more” migrants in our cities. But the Biden administration is not listening. In fact, Biden is extending legal status to 470,000 Venezuelans, and his administration admits to having cut down razor wire on the Texas border meant to stop illegal crossings. Of course, strategically the Biden administration wants to keep Texas wide open in an effort to turn the state blue. Underscoring this reality, images have leaked revealing the Biden administration’s planned ICE ID cards for illegal immigrants. In light of all this, 25 governors sent a letter to Biden demanding transparency on the scope of the border malfeasance. Meanwhile, House Republicans are seeking to put a price tag on the “financial costs” of the open border. The question is, how long before this invasion eventually backfires, costing both Biden and the Democrats?
  • Biden rewards bad spies: On Monday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas included former CIA Director John Brennan, former CIA officer Paul Kolbe, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper in a list of 17 individuals appointed to his Homeland Intelligence Experts Group. This group will “provide advice and perspectives on intelligence and national security efforts,” and will focus on “foreign nation-state adversaries, domestic violent extremists, cyber criminals.” Notably, Brennan, Kolbe, and Clapper all signed the infamous letter in 2020 falsely claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. They signed the letter even after independent cybersecurity experts had authenticated its veracity. They went to bat for Joe Biden countervailing the evidence, and now they’re being rewarded for peddling disinformation to the American public.
  • Federal judge blocks Newsom’s anti-parent policy: The vast majority of Californians (84%) believe that parents have right to be notified by schools if their child expresses gender-bending ideology. Irrespective of the majority opinion, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has actively acted against parents’ wishes and has sought to crackdown on school districts that adopt parental notification policies. Well, a federal judge blocked Newsom’s effort to keep parents in the dark. U.S. District Court Judge Roger Benitez ruled against Newsom, finding that the Golden State governor’s policy violates parents’ constitutional rights. Benitez stated, “A parent’s right to make decisions concerning the care, custody, control and medical care of their children is one of the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests that Americans enjoy,” and therefore any effort to prevent them from doing so is a violation of their rights. The state does not have the right to indoctrinate children against their parents’ wishes.
  • Designer gets her clothes back from gender-fluid sicko Sam Brinton: Fashion designer Asya Khamsin, who was one of the victims of the infamous luggage thief and former Biden administration official Sam Brinton, got her property back on Wednesday. The gender-bending, cross-dressing Brinton evidently took a shine to Khamsin’s luggage back in March 2018, when he stole her baggage containing some of her designer clothing, including a dress that he would later don. Khamsin discovered that Brinton was the thief after she saw images of him wearing her dress. “Those were my custom designs, which were lost in that bag in 2018,” Khamsin said. “He wore my clothes, which was stolen.” Brinton was charged with felony grand larceny and is facing a trial in December.

Marijuana Legalization — Smoke and Mirrors

David Black

During my 40+ year career as a practicing forensic and clinical toxicologist, I have witnessed the disturbing destruction of scientific fact in the application of medicine and law. This evolution is the result of giving opinion and political agendas equal or greater weight than documented objective facts, and by suppressing the publication of facts that do not fit the promoted ideology du jour. The adulteration of the “follow the science” maxim became grossly apparent in the Biden administration’s manipulative mandates during the COVID pandemic.

Decades of effort supported by billions of dollars of misinformation campaigns in concert with political hubris, greed, and ignorance may result in Cannabis sativa (commonly referred to as marijuana) being removed as a Schedule I drug despite its high potential for abuse.

This reclassification will be extremely harmful to the health of our citizens and the stability of our society. Already, states are rushing to legalize marijuana and promote its use, despite the well-documented hazards.

One of the most significant steps taken to assert marijuana is “not harmful” occurred when the Obama administration discontinued the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN). DAWN collected data from emergency rooms and medical examiners’ offices regarding drug-related adverse health events. At the time this program was discontinued, the data documented that marijuana was the second most frequently abused drug resulting in emergency room visits. As a toxicologist, this is not a surprising finding since the potency of marijuana has increased dramatically since the 1960s from a psychoactive THC content of 3-5% to today’s rate of usually over 20%. Common sense would suggest to even non-scientific individuals that a 400%+ increase in potency/dose should result in more adverse outcomes, not fewer.

“The dose makes the poison” is a basic principle of toxicology and is fundamental to public policy regulating public exposure to chemicals, not just drugs. Although 1960s marijuana might result in psychological dependence, today’s marijuana is much more likely to lead to physiological addiction and result in graduating to other abused and harmful drugs. Marijuana is well documented as a “gateway” drug leading to other abused drug use. By eliminating the DAWN system, the ability to collect data associated with marijuana’s adverse health consequences was greatly suppressed. The absence of aggregated scientific data documenting harm, coupled with the well-financed lies about marijuana being a “medicine” and beneficial to health, has misled the public, affected public policy, and limited marijuana abuse prevention programs.

Today’s potent marijuana will exacerbate other well-documented negative outcomes such as schizophrenia, paranoia, and amotivational syndrome. It is not surprising that California, the first state to legalize “medical” marijuana, is the state with approximately 30% of America’s homeless population but only about 12% of total population. Although multiple factors contribute to homelessness, many marijuana users will become “amotivational” with no incentive to work and only a desire to use marijuana or graduate to other disabling addictive drugs, which results in living on the street. Marijuana-related paranoia or schizophrenia may lead to random acts of violence by the homeless, further degrading the quality of life for cites/communities. Other cities and states that are normalizing marijuana use are exacerbating their homeless problem by encouraging a significant contributing factor that leads to mental illness and greater drug abuse.

It is ironic that state and federal public policy has worked for decades to reduce both alcohol and tobacco use due to the negative impact on individual health and the public healthcare system, while at the same time state and federal policies are being developed to promote the use of a harmful drug, marijuana, that combines the worst of both alcohol and tobacco. That combination: the intoxication associated with psychoactive THC may lead to impaired judgment and driving ability as does alcohol, and the inhalation of cancer-causing chemicals as are found in tobacco. Worse are the psychological problems that may lead to erratic behavior and violence associated with marijuana use.

The adverse impact of greater marijuana use on our healthcare system and society will be realized over time as we all suffer from these poor policy decisions.

Do not be fooled — removing marijuana from Schedule I status is a result of a smoke and mirrors campaign financed by those who wish to achieve legalization for all drugs, and the consequences will be as toxic to our society as the psychoactive and cancer-causing chemicals may be to marijuana users.

Dr. Black earned his doctorate degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine researching the toxicology and pharmacology of Cannabis/Marijuana. He is a long-standing member of our National Advisory Committee.

NYC Targets Its ‘Racist’ Monuments

It’s as if the city didn’t have enough REAL problems to worry about.

Douglas Andrews

Donald Trump was right. They are coming for Washington and Jefferson.

“This week it’s Robert E. Lee,” observed then-President Donald Trump at a news conference some six years ago. “I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder: Is George Washington next week, and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You really do have to ask yourself: ‘Where does it stop?’”

Indeed, where does it stop?

If rust never sleeps, neither do progressives. They don’t bathe, either, but we digress. The one thing about progressives is that they’re never done making “progress.” And as long as there are statues and monuments and works of art honoring great Americans who happen to be white and male, there’s progress to be made by defiling them, or by yanking them down, or by mothballing them.

So it goes in New York City, which, in case you hadn’t noticed, already has its share of problems, but whose city council nonetheless took time Tuesday to discuss how they might cancel the Founding Fathers and right past wrongs with boatloads of cash. As Fox News reports:

As New York City cripples under monumental budget cuts due to a migrant crisis straining public resources, its city council is planning to consider a series of measures that would, among other things, remove statues of major historical figures like George Washington and create a reparations task force. …

The council’s Cultural Affairs Committee [held] a public hearing on a measure to remove works of art on city property that “depict a person who owned enslaved persons or directly benefited economically from slavery, or who participated in systemic crimes against indigenous peoples or other crimes against humanity.”

As columnist Bob McManus brilliantly puts it: “When the New York City Council gets its way, and Manhattan’s Columbus Avenue becomes Indigenous Boulevard, no more 1-year-olds will die of fentanyl poisoning at drug-front day-care centers in The Bronx. Right? Because everybody knows that the most critical problem facing a city suffering rising crime, daunting budget projections and a federal border breakdown is that the nation’s founders were men of their times.”

Indeed, they were men of their times. And, yes, Washington and Jefferson were slaveowners. But author, talker, and thinker Dennis Prager recently provided an inconvenient history lesson about slavery— a lesson that those on the Left do their best to ignore: “Every civilization throughout history had slaves: Asian societies, Africans, Native Americans, and other Indigenous peoples around the world, and the Muslim/Arab world, which may have had the most slaves of all.”

Prager didn’t stop there, though. “Who ended slavery?” he asked. And then he answered: “There was only one thing unique about slavery in the West: It raised the issue of the morality of slavery, ferociously debated it, and finally abolished it there, before it was abolished in any other civilization.”

“Let’s be frank,” wrote McManus. “There’s no obvious good reason to change the name of, say, Brooklyn’s Thomas Jefferson High School if most of its students can’t read at grade level anyway.”

Here, we might wonder who’s to blame for the abysmal performance of New York City’s public schools. The answer? The same folks who are responsible for the miserable failure of public schools all around the country: The leftists who lead them.

Don’t distract us with your reecist facts, their fellow-traveling iconoclasts angrily sneer.

We can thus look forward to the descent of the dirty mob — or what Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson might call “a large gathering” — on New York City’s storied monuments. Not even Christopher Columbus, himself a migrant, is likely to be spared. And we can look forward to a great city being a little less great and a lot more ignorant.

This isn’t anything new, though. Two years ago, these same shortsighted fools removed from City Hall a statue of Thomas Jefferson that had been there for 187 years. Now that’s progress.

“The radical left has been trying to reframe our nation as one born from evil,” said councilwoman Joann Ariola, a Republican from Queens, “and it is time we put our foot down and say enough is enough. The Founding Fathers and the others who worked so hard to establish this great country should be celebrated, not eliminated from memory.”

We wish her Godspeed.

It’s interesting, although equally depressing, to consider the fruits of this “progress” — whether they’re yanking down statues or killing the comedy industry or wrecking sports or ruining our educational system or rewriting our nation’s one-of-a-kind story.

As Trump also said back in August 2017, “You can’t change history, but you can learn from it.”

True that. But only if we preserve our history. If we instead whitewash it by tearing down the statues and monuments to our Founding Fathers and by purging both their glorious achievements and their very human failures from our history books, perhaps we’re more inclined to repeat our past mistakes.

“As regards American slavery and everything else,” Prager concluded, “always remember this: Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value. It is not a left-wing value.”

SHORT CUTS

Elections Matter

“It’s just very interesting to hear all of this defense of democracy when the current strategy of the Democrat Party is to actually imprison their top political opponent and then try to keep American people from being able to vote for the candidate of their choice. That is a direct attack on free and fair elections. That is an attack on democracy.” —Mollie Hemingway

The BIG Lie

“Our job is not to do what is politically convenient. … I am not the president’s lawyer.” —Attorney General Merrick Garland

“We apply the same laws to everyone. There is not one set of laws for the powerful and another for the powerless … one for Democrats, and another for Republicans.” —Merrick Garland

For the Record

“We cannot refer to ourselves as biological anything. That’s admitting that there’s an unbiological alternative and there’s not. There is man and there is woman. There is male and there is female. There is girl and there is boy and there is mother and there is father. … This idea that we can change what God created us to be is beyond absurd.” —Riley Gaines

“Using ‘preferred’ pronouns isn’t polite; it’s subservient to the point of being degrading. It’s the gender equivalent of whites kneeling and kissing the feet of blacks in humiliating submission.” —Seth Dillon

Political Futures

“Too many Republicans apparently come to Washington these days mainly to blow things up and count their TikTok followers.” —The Wall Street Journal

“The answer to questions about Biden’s age is simple: ‘Yes, there’s a chance Vice President Harris becomes president — and that would be fine.’” —Washington Post columnist Perry Bacon Jr.

Professional Opinion

“Oh my god! I think it will be okay. The Republicans think I’m going to burst through the doors and start break dancing on the floor in shorts. I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue.” —Senator John Fetterman reacting to the Senate ditching its dress code

“If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week.” —John Fetterman

Second Opinion

“Much like how an entire kindergarten class must accommodate one problem child who refuses to do his work unless his own special conditions are met, we are being misled once again under the guise of a dress code. The Senatorial dress code is not the issue. The issue is the ongoing deception by John Fetterman, his family, his office and the media who will go to the lengths of bullying their own colleagues should they dare report on the accurate nature of Fetterman’s abilities.” —Stephen Miller

“John Fetterman has a doctor’s note saying he needs to be a dumb slob.” —Frank J. Fleming

McCarthy Denies Zelenskyy’s Request to Address Congress | The Gateway Pundit

Volodymyr Zelenskyy (ABC News/Youtube)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is back in the U.S to keep American tax dollars flowing, seemingly without limit, into Ukraine.

Since the start of the war, four rounds of aid has sent approximately $113 billion in aid and equipment to Ukraine.

But Zelenskyy wants more.

After making his case to The United Nations on Tuesday, Zelenskyy traveled to D.C. to speak privately with Republican and Democrat leaders of the House and Senate and to meet with Biden at the White House.

It is reported that Zelenskyy also hoped to speak to a joint session of Congress, a request that was denied by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1704854226500042768?s=20

When asked about the request, McCarthy said, “We just didn’t have time, he’s already (sic) given a joint session.”

McCarthy noted that the opportunity to speak with Congressional leaders given to Zelenskyy same given to other world leaders.

When asked what he will be discussing with Zelenskyy, McCarthy said, “What is the plan for victory…where are we currently on the field…the accountability issues that a lot of members have questions…just walk through that.”

4 Ways Washington’s Spending Spree Caused Inflation With Trillions in Waste, Fraud | The Daily Signal.

Americans are justifiably unhappy with the state of the economy.

The inflation figures for August took a turn for the worse—meaning, families have now lost $5,100 in purchasing power since President Joe Biden entered the White House.

In addition to the burden of inflation, rising interest rates are making home mortgages unaffordable, pushing the American dream out of reach for millions.

While month-to-month economic numbers tell part of the story, a new report from The Heritage Foundation explains how Washington’s reckless spending pushed the economy to this tipping point. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)

The special report, “The Road to Inflation: How an Unprecedented Federal Spending Spree Created Economic Turmoil,” reveals that Congress passed an astonishing $7.5 trillion in new spending between 2020 and 2022—or more than $57,000 per household.

Pushing such an unprecedented amount of deficit spending had predictable consequences.

>>>Read the full report here: “The Road to Inflation

At a time when supply chains were strained by the COVID-19 pandemic and harmful government-imposed lockdowns, throwing more money at a lower volume of goods and services could only drive prices up.

It would be one thing if the spending spree had been made up of good investments. Unfortunately, most of the initiatives were poorly designed, based on faulty economic reasoning and/or motivated by political opportunism.

The following are just four of the areas where the federal government misused trillions of dollars in taxpayer resources during the spending spree:

Welfare Expansion Causes World Record Fraud

At the start of the pandemic, Congress expanded eligibility and increased payments for the unemployment insurance program.

At the time, it was easy to predict that this would have negative consequences, incentivizing workers to actively seek joblessness or otherwise game the system to maximize their handouts.

Incredibly, even the most cynical analysis underestimated just how big a problem would result from this welfare expansion.

A combination of individual scammers and organized crime rings using identity fraud bilked the federal government for at least $100 billion, with upper-end estimates of $350 billion to $400 billion.

To put that in perspective, the Bernie Madoff scheme that generated extensive media coverage and numerous documentaries was worth $65 billion. (Naturally, the press is less interested in publicizing fraud enabled by a welfare program.)

Slush Funds for State, Local Governments

In addition to increased federal payments for mass transit, education, and Medicaid, the spending spree included a whopping $500 billion in few-strings-attached handouts to state and local governments.

The first batch of this money, $150 billion, was approved as protection against potential tax revenue declines at the start of the pandemic. However, it soon became clear that most areas were not experiencing a tax decline, and the total amount of revenue loss was much smaller than expected.

Despite that reality, Democrats passed an additional $350 billion in slushy funds.

Since there was no revenue gap, state and local governments blew through their second round of handouts with inflationary check-cutting, record-setting levels of corporate welfare, bailing out government-owned golf courses, tax credits for Hollywood studios, promoting tourism, special bonuses for government employees, and much more.

As with the unemployment insurance fraud, we will never know the total amount of money wasted on “relief” payments to state and local governments.

Teachers Unions Held Schools Hostage

Perhaps the most infuriating part of the spending spree took place in early 2021.

Amid a raging debate about reopening schools, with children receiving substandard educations, teachers unions were pressing to keep schools closed. That was part of a pressure campaign to give government-run K-12 schools a massive federal handout.

The Biden administration kowtowed to teachers unions, and it was later revealed that officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention colluded with union officials on school-reopening guidance to help stack the deck.

In the end, Democrats approved $123 billion for public K-12 schools, rewarding the unions for holding schools hostage.

Since there was no pandemic-related need for such a huge amount of money, much of it went toward hiring sprees and raises for school employees.

Regrettably, the obscure nature of how funds were distributed means that we will likely never know what public schools did with that windfall.

Business Support Program Defrauded

The Paycheck Protection Program, passed early in the pandemic, was designed to help businesses keep employees on the payroll during the lockdown-driven economic downturn.

However, the $835 billion program—with Congress intending to get money out the door quickly—suffered from a lack of guardrails. Hundreds of billions of dollars in spending were flagged for review. There were hundreds of billions of dollars in improper payments, and the volume of fraud overwhelmed the system.

While some violators (such as a man who used the program to buy a $57,000 Pokémon card) were caught, countless others got away scot-free.

Conclusion

In the wake of the spending spree, the national debt is now more than $33 trillion, or an average of $253,000 per household.

Ignoring the dangers of such an incomprehensible amount of debt, and ignoring the ongoing damage that elevated inflation is having on family finances, many in Washington are still determined to keep the federal gravy train rolling.

  • The pending set of appropriations bills are loaded with pork, including goodies for left-wing activist groups and frivolous recreational projects.
  • These bills also contain tens of billions in fraudulent budget gimmicks that hide spending.
  • Several other measures that would or could increase spending are also looming on the horizon, including the so-called farm bill (where most of the money goes to welfare programs), and supplemental appropriations that would throw tens of billions more at Ukraine and to leftist nonprofits that encourage illegal immigration.

It’s crucial for the American public to be on guard against politicians whose default response to most problems is to throw other people’s money around.

That has been a bad habit for many years, but now it has turned into a chronic addiction the country can’t afford.

Mark Levin names them: here are the five cabal members who hijacked the DOJ…

(Revolver) Mark Levin is naming names and calling out the cabal.

When we look back to 2016, it’s clear we were all pretty naive, right? Sure, we knew of the disarray within our government and media, and our desire for change led us to choose an outsider, Donald J. Trump, in the hopes of setting things right. But even the sharpest among us couldn’t have grasped just how dark, evil and corrupt the government had become while “we the people” were fast asleep at the wheel for so many decades.

It’s only when the demons start feeling threatened that they reveal themselves in a desperate bid to hold onto power, and that’s exactly what we’re witnessing in our government today. Elected and unelected bureaucrats forming these tyrannical wicked “cabals” to wage war against the very people who put them in office and pay their salary. Essentially, our government is a private club with the same interconnected elites seamlessly moving from one situation to another, utilizing their connections to manipulate outcomes that support their agendas. It’s an exclusive club, and you’re not on the guest list. View article →

Nation Torn Between Party That Openly Supports Perversion And Party That Only Secretly Supports Perversion | Babylon Bee

U.S. — Following multiple embarrassing, high-profile scandals on both sides of the political aisle, the American people expressed conflicted feelings about whether they should vote for a party that openly supports perversion or a party that only secretly supports perversion.

“It kinda seems like a lose-lose situation,” said disappointed voter Adam Kinnunen. “I can either put my support behind a party that is actively trying to dismantle the very fabric of human decency and morality in our country, or I can support the party that talks about upholding traditional values while secretly engaging in all the things I think are reprehensible. Yeah. Real great options there.”

GOP leaders were quick to play defense in the face of public criticism. “We ask the American people to be patient with us,” said Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel from a coke orgy in a DC basement. “We will increase our efforts to publicly clean up our act and keep our degeneracy behind closed doors. We want our voters to feel confident that all of our disgusting, immoral activity will remain private.”

Voters reached for comment were unconvinced. “That isn’t very reassuring,” said real estate agent Aaron Olla. “I really don’t feel great about supporting a party that just does really awful things in secret. Say what you want about Democrats — and they are hideous — but at least they’re open and honest about it.”

Democrats were quick to condemn Republicans over the issue. “Republicans are disgusting hypocrites,” said Senator Chuck Schumer. “As disgusting non-hypocrites, it is our duty to be as shamelessly disgusting in public as often as possible until the indecent behavior is completely normalized. It’s the decent thing to do.”

Ukraine has already lost in its conflict with Russia – Seymour Hersh | RT Russia & Former Soviet Union by RT

The veteran reporter has accused Kiev and Washington of deceiving the public about the state of the Ukrainian counteroffensive

Ukraine has already lost in its conflict with Russia – Seymour Hersh

US intelligence analysts believe that Ukraine has given up on its counteroffensive against Russia and the only thing prolonging the conflict is the unwillingness of Washington and Kiev to acknowledge their failure, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has claimed.

Writing on Substack on Thursday, the veteran reporter cited an unnamed source, who “spent the early years of his career working against Soviet aggression and spying” as rejecting the Ukrainian narrative about a slow but steady progress of the counteroffensive.

“‘It’s all lies,’” the source said, according to Hersh. “‘The war is over. Russia has won. There is no Ukrainian offensive anymore, but the White House and the American media have to keep the lie going.’”

This sentiment is shared by many figures in the US intelligence community, and the CIA in particular has been skeptical of Kiev’s claims of a continued push forward, unlike the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), he explained.

G7 believes Ukraine conflict will last until end of decade – Bloomberg

Trent Maul, the director of analysis for the DIA, touted Ukraine’s success to The Economist earlier this month and claimed Kiev’s forces had a “realistic” chance to break through Russian defense lines this year. The British outlet contrasted the assessment with that of an unnamed senior US intelligence official, who said the battlefield “could look broadly similar” in five years.

The source cited by Hersh blasted the leadership in both Moscow and Washington for acting “stupid” during the crisis. Russian President Vladimir Putin got “provoked [into] violating the UN charter” with a poorly-prepared military campaign, he argued. US President Joe Biden retaliated with a proxy war and has had to rely on the vilification of Putin by the media “in order to justify our mistake.”

“The truth is if the Ukrainian army is ordered to continue the offensive, the army would mutiny. The soldiers aren’t willing to die any more, but this doesn’t fit the B.S. that is being authored by the Biden White House,” the source concluded.

Moscow has denied the US claim that the operation against Ukraine was an act of “unprovoked aggression,” insisting that the people of Donbass had the right of self-determination under the UN Charter and acted accordingly when they broke away from Ukraine after the 2014 armed coup in Kiev.

The Russian government has maintained that it acted lawfully when it recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luganks People’s Republics in February 2022. Days later, after Kiev refused to stop attacks on Donbass and pull out its troops, Moscow launched its offensive.

Biden to Grant Legal Status to Nearly 500,000 Migrants as Democrat Officials Warn, ‘No End in Sight’

After growing pressure to do more on the country’s immigration crisis President Biden is finally taking action. But it’s not action to stop the ongoing stream of migrants over the border. Instead, the White House is granting temporary legal status to an estimated 472,000 Venezuelans who arrived in the country as of July 31, making it easier for them to get to work in the US.

Former Soviet Bloc Member and Current US Rep. Victoria Spartz TEARS Into Merrick Garland – Compares Fear of FBI to Soviet Citizens’ Fear of KGB (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

U.S. Representative Victoria Spartz (R-IN) delivered a blistering critique of Attorney General Merrick Garland and his department’s handling of various issues, including the January 6th Capitol riot and the Durham report, during a GOP-led House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Spartz, who grew up in Ukraine, drew a chilling parallel between the fear Americans have of the FBI and the fear Soviet citizens had of the KGB – the notorious Soviet security agency.

During the hearing, Spartz confronted Garland directly, asking him if he was aware that many Americans are afraid of being prosecuted by his department. Garland’s response was less than satisfactory, as he seemed to deflect the question by blaming “constant attacks” on the department.

“You had a very moving statement about your grandparents coming here from Belarus to live in the country without fear of prosecution. I grew up in a very similar country, Ukraine now. When I came here as a young person, I believed in the value as an American not to be afraid of my government. But I wanted to tell you, and I want to share with you and get your thoughts on that. Are you aware that a lot of Americans are now afraid of being prosecuted by your department? Are you aware about that?” Spartz asked.

“I think that constant attacks on the department and saying it’s not attacks,” Garland responded, struggling to articulate a coherent answer.

Spartz then cited the events of January 6th as an example, arguing that while some individuals had bad intentions (FBI Agents), many were ordinary Americans who felt let down by their government. She criticized the lack of proper security and the FBI’s subsequent actions, which have left people in her district feeling targeted and afraid.

“A lot of good Americans from my district came here because they are sick and tired of this government not serving them. They came with strollers and the kids and there was chaotic situation because the proper security wasn’t provided,” said Spartz.

“These people came, they were throwing the smoke bombs into the crowd with strollers, with kids. FBI agents showed up to people’s houses. You had in my district, in my town, FBI phone numbers all over the district “Please call.” People are truly afraid. I just want to make sure if you’re not aware that you are, and this is a big problem when people are afraid of their own government,” she added.

Spartz also took aim at the Department of Justice’s handling of various investigations, including the Durham report, which she said made her feel like she was reading about the KGB.

“You are in charge of the department, and people right now feel that when I look at the Durham report and call out the violations of queries involving millions of Americans, it’s like KGB. When I read the Durham reports, you have a nice playbook. First, let’s appoint a special counsel so that you don’t have to answer any questions here. Then, let’s extend slow-walk the investigations on Hillary Clinton and Hunter Biden. Everything is slow-walked. We were very quick to act on Donald Trump… By the time the investigation ended, the statute of limitations has expired, and all of your agents need to be tested for amnesia; no one recalls anything. You should probably include memory tests as part of your hiring policy,” said Spartz.

“So no one is held accountable, which is egregious. What happened, as detailed in that report, when I read with them I can’t believe it happened in the United States of America. This is my frustration, I’ll be honest with you. It’s very interesting, regardless of what it is.”

Spartz also raised concerns about the Obama administration’s handling of Ukraine, particularly the involvement of President Biden’s son, Hunter, with Ukrainian oligarchs. She argued that such actions undermine U.S. efforts in Ukraine and contribute to a lack of trust in the current administration.

“Even people in the Obama administration raised concerns. How can a President’s sons serve on the boards of corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs? Do you understand that this can actually undermine our Ukrainian efforts and policy?” she added.

“The Obama administration didn’t do anything about it. These people are dying right now and Americans don’t trust this president. So I want to ask you one thing. I don’t need answer because I know you’re not going to, but I think you’re probably good American and you care. And a lot of these people are so afraid they cover up this stuff, I think in your department, because they’re embarrassed. That is what we became as a country to say. That is what our Department of Justice became,” said Spartz.

Spartz concluded her remarks by warning of the danger posed to the American republic by the Department of Justice’s actions, which she said allow foreign adversaries like Russia and China to destabilize the country.

Before yielding her time, Spartz asked Garland if he believed that only U.S. citizens should be voting in elections and if he was doing anything to ensure that only eligible people vote. Garland responded affirmatively, but Spartz remained skeptical, stating, “I would like to see what you do.”

WATCH:

As someone who grew up in the Soviet Union, I’m disturbed by the fact that so many hardworking Americans—including my constituents—are afraid of political persecution by our own government.

Unfortunately, it does not seem like AG Garland is.

Kamala Harris Says It’s Okay for Christians to Kill Their Babies in Abortions

Kamala Harris apparently doesn’t know much about the Bible because she just told a bunch of college students that it’s okay for Christians to kill their babies in abortions.

The abortion cheerleader is on a nationwide tour this month to celebrate abortions and during a stop in North Carolina, she told students that it’s okay for a Christian to have an abortion.

“One does not have to abandon their faith, or deeply held beliefs, to agree that the government should not be telling [a woman] what to do with her body,” Harris said.

She trashed pro-life Americans as “extremist so-called leaders” and said pro-life laws protecting babies from abortions are “immoral.”
