There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "…truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity–it is simply true and that is the end of it" – Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” – Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
As we gather in Your presence tonight, our hearts are filled with gratitude and awe for the wisdom and love You have shared with us through Your Word.
Tonight, we turn to the words of Your Son, Jesus, from Matthew 5, where He taught us about the attitudes and actions that reflect Your kingdom.
Lord, we come before You passionately, seeking to embody the Beatitudes that Jesus so lovingly taught:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
We humble ourselves before You, acknowledging our dependence on Your grace and mercy. We recognize that in our weakness, Your strength shines brightly. Thank You for the promise of Your kingdom.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Father, we bring our sorrows, our losses, and our pain to You. We trust that in Your infinite love, You will wrap us in Your comforting embrace, soothing our wounds and healing our brokenness. We find absolute peace in Your presence.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Lord, teach us to be gentle and patient in our interactions with others. Help us to remember that true strength lies in humility and a willingness to yield to Your will. Grant us the grace to be peacemakers in our communities and in our world.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Father, ignite in us a burning desire for righteousness and justice. May we seek Your will above all else, and may our actions reflect Your love and truth. Fill us with Your Spirit, so we may be vessels of Your righteousness.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
In Your mercy, God, help us to extend forgiveness and compassion to those who have wronged us. May we be imitators of Your boundless grace, knowing that as we show mercy, we, too, will receive Your mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
Create in us clean hearts, O Lord, free from deceit and impurity. Let our thoughts and intentions be pleasing to You, so that we may experience the joy of seeing Your presence in all aspects of our lives.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Father, grant us the wisdom and strength to be instruments of peace in a world often filled with discord. May we be known as Your children, reflecting Your love and unity to all we encounter.
As we close this prayer, we thank You, Father, for the profound teachings of Your Son, Jesus. May we carry these lessons in our hearts and live them out daily, for Your glory and the betterment of our world.
In the quiet shadows of everyday life, there was a lone man whose housekeeper’s rebellion would ignite a transformation — a tale of rules, rebellion, and a love that changed everything.
This single man once employed a housekeeper and he crafted a list of instructions for her, neatly affixed to the kitchen refrigerator, under the heading of “Rules of This House.” These were the do’s and don’ts of the household, a clear roadmap for harmonious living.
As days turned into weeks, a flicker of dissent began to ignite within the housekeeper’s mind. She pondered, “Who is he to dictate my actions?” Yet, she was gainfully employed by this man, and she had committed herself to upholding these house rules.
Little did she realize that, in her quiet rebellion, she was not living up to her true potential. She would often break these rules when the watchful eyes of her employer were momentarily averted.
Day by day, as she gazed at the list of rules, she came to a profound realization — she was falling short of them, repeatedly and at times, even deliberately.
Some of these rules were foreign to her, for she had lived her life differently in her own household. This experience with the law and its expectations unveiled a deeper truth about herself.
“What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, ‘You shall not covet.’ But sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.” (Romans 7:7–8).
The words of Paul resonate with her inner turmoil.
When he encountered the Ten Commandments, he too felt like an imposter. He recognized that he needed to transform his life in ways he had never contemplated before.
He acknowledged that it wasn’t the law that was flawed; it was his own shortcomings that the law revealed. The law acted as a mirror, reflecting his need for something greater.
God’s standards were higher, demanding more than mere rule-keeping. It beckoned for the love of Christ and a union with Him.
Now, back to our tale: In time, this housekeeper’s heart swelled with love for the man who had set those rules. They became one through marriage, and everything changed. Her love for him became the driving force behind her actions.
She lived for him, and no task seemed too great. Those rules on the kitchen refrigerator no longer felt oppressive. Instead, they were embraced with enthusiasm, delight, and affection, all because of her deep desire to honor her beloved.
This mirrors the transformation from your pre-Christian state to your Christian life. You are now joined in a sacred union with Christ. You serve with a renewed spirit, not out of obligation but out of love and devotion.
The rules of the past are seen through a different lens, for you now live to honor the One you love.
I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls; which I have made. (Isaiah 57:16)
Our heavenly Father seeks our instruction, not our destruction. His contention with us has a kind intention toward us. He will not be always in arms against us. We think the Lord is long in His chastisements, but that is because we are short in our patience. His compassion endureth forever, but not His contention. The night may drag its weary length along, but it must in the end give place to cheerful day. As contention is only for a season, so the wrath which leads to it is only for a small moment. The Lord loves His chosen too well to be always angry with them.
If He were to deal with us always as He does sometimes, we should faint outright and go down hopelessly to the gates of death. Courage, dear heart! The Lord will soon end His chiding. Bear up, for the Lord will bear you up and bear you through. He who made you knows how frail you are and how little you can bear. He will handle tenderly that which He has fashioned so delicately. Therefore, be not afraid because of the painful present, for it hastens to a happy future. He that smote you will heal you; His little wrath shall be followed by great mercies.
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15
“He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.” Titus 1:9
“Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,” Ephesians 6:14
My prayer for us this week
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, I pray that we will stand firm. Letting nothing move us. Always give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because we know that our labor in the Lord is not in vain. In Jesus name amen.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” Genesis 22:2
Abraham had been through the wringer as far as trusting God was concerned. First with leaving everything familiar in order to follow God to a place he’d never been. Then, waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promise for a son, somehow, from his aged body and Sarah’s barren womb. Now this – God’s command for the sacrifice of Abraham’s long awaited son, Isaac. My initial reaction would have been, “I’m sorry, what?” Yet, Abraham never said a word. He simply got up early the next morning (v. 3) and prepared for the journey with his son.
Okay, hold on. In the most ridiculous of circumstances, I think I might verbalize a few objections, even shed a million tears and procrastinate in getting ready to give up my only son as an offering. The crazier thing is, when a deep and abiding relationship exists between us and God, times of doubt and questioning may come but at the end of the day, it’s that intimate union that lifts up and strengthens the most downcast heart in order to remain obedient to the Almighty.
That’s it. That’s why Abraham never argued with the Lord or assaulted his sovereignty; because Abraham had profound knowledge of his creator. As extreme as I know the test of Abraham’s trust and faithfulness was in this scenario, tests of our obedience to God’s charge are something we, as devoted followers of the Lord, will also encounter. Maybe not to the extent of Abraham’s test, but we who know God and his character well, must acknowledge that he is worthy of our immediate compliance.
God cannot lie and is true to his promises. That was the reality Abraham was living in. He knew that, somehow, in the midst of his strange position, God would demonstrate his redemptive power. That is our reality too.
Our blessed assurance is that the Lord our God will never misguide us and the Holy Spirit will give us the peace and courage to faithfully obey as promptly as Abraham did.
Heavenly Father, thank you for Abraham’s example in your Word. Help me to be as readily obedient as he was to your commands in my life. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Today take time to think about Abraham’s sobering sacrifice and the obedience it took for him to comply. What does obedience mean to you? Are there any areas in your life which may require a greater obedience?
Has the Yom Kippur Mystery of Azazel Finally Been Solved? Most of the aspects of this enigmatic ritual are described in detail in the Talmud (oral law) but one detail has been lost: the precise location of the final destination, the cliff where the goat meets its end. Five sabbath journies, a distance described in Jewish law, is approximately 12 miles. The region is in the Judean desert across the Kidron Valley from Jerusalem but is referred to simply as צוק (tsuk, literally ‘a cliff’). The Talmud describes it as a “rough and rocky place.”
Silk tougher than Kevlar thanks to genetically modified silkworms researchers in China successfully genetically modified silkworms to produce spider silk. The silk fibres produced were 6 times tougher than the Kevlar used in bulletproof vests. The result might bring manufacture of a sustainable alternative to synthetic fibres a step closer.
Elon Musk’s Starlink Exceeds 2 Million Users, Doubling In Just Nine Months Democrats are probably even more furious with Elon Musk’s huge success with SpaceX-owned space internet company Starlink now boasting over 2 million active users worldwide. “Starlink is available on all 7 continents, in over 60 countries and many more markets, connecting 2M+ active customers and counting with high-speed internet!” Starlink posted on X.
Why are archaeologists afraid of opening the tomb of China’s first emperor? Despite extensive exploration of the surrounding necropolis, the emperor’s tomb remains unexplored, shrouded in intrigue for over two millennia. The foremost reason for this reluctance lies in the fear that excavations could harm the tomb, potentially causing the loss of invaluable historical insights. Presently, the only way to access the tomb involves invasive archaeological methods, fraught with the risk of irreparable damage.
‘Six or seven Muslim countries will follow Saudis to normalize ties with Israel’ – Foreign Minister Foreign Minister Eli Cohen told Kan News Friday that he believes “at least” half a dozen Muslim countries will follow Saudi Arabia’s lead, should Riyadh and Jerusalem normalize ties. Cohen was interviewed at the United Nations after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of how a “new Middle East” is being created as more Arab countries establish diplomatic relations with Israel.
IDF uncovers Hamas cell planning Yom Kippur attack Israeli security forces arrested eight terrorists Sunday, breaking up a terror cell the military said was preparing for an imminent attack on an Israeli target. The eight terrorists, affiliated with the Gaza-based Hamas terror organization, were operating out of the Birzeit University near Ramallah, an IDF spokesperson said Sunday afternoon.
In 1973, Biden reassured Israel: ‘Egypt won’t Attack’…On Yom Kippur Egypt Attacked A report by Israeli Channel 13’s Nadav Eyal revealed that at a meeting with then-Prime Minister Golda Meir just 40 days prior to Yom Kippur in 1973, Meir gave a detailed briefing to Biden, explaining that Israel was deeply concerned about the possibility that Egypt was preparing for war. Biden reassured Meir that Egypt had no intention of attacking Israel. He stated that during meetings in Cairo prior to his arrival in Israel, officials there assured him they had no intention of attacking Israel as they accepted “Israel’s military superiority.” “Golda rejects Biden’s comments
Defense minister supports Israel’s Declaration of Independence as ‘the opening chapter of the unwritten constitution’ “Precisely when it seemed that there was nothing left to hold on to, in hours of great pain and terrible brokenness, we as a people held on to the good of the state, the flag, the crest, and the declaration of independence – this scroll which is the opening chapter of the unwritten constitution of a country without a constitution,” Gallant told Israeli military soldiers during a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War.

THE SIDES ARE DRAWN, AMERICA IS DESTINED TO FIGHT A LONG GUERRILLA WAR TO STAVE OFF EXTERMINATION! …What about the United States? With the advent of CBDC, smart cities, 15 minute cities, Biden’s 30×30 Plan, etc, the stage has been set for the final stage of the implementation of global governance! With the loss of privacy, most people have already had their fate decided and they don’t even know it!
Almost Half Of All Young Adults In The United States Are Living With Their Parents When are we going to wake up and admit that our system is failing? If close to half of our young adults find themselves needing to live with their parents, we have a major crisis on our hands. Yes, there are some young people that are simply lazy and don’t want to work hard enough. I definitely understand that
Seymour Hersh: “It’s All Lies. The War is Over. Oil, Cracks Soar After Russia Bans Diesel, Gasoline Exports With Diesel prices already soaring (in anticipation of the highly vaunted soft landing), recently sending the diesel crack to 2023 highs and assuring that refiners have another blowout quarter, Russia just handed a gift to the Exxons of the world – and spat in the face of Christine Lagarde – when it “temporarily banned” exports of the diesel in a bid to stabilize domestic supplies, adding pressure on already tight global fuel markets.
Canadian Town Council is schooled on how 15-minute cities are the gateway to total digital surveillance and control Last Wednesday, Joel Sussmann spoke about 15-minute cities at a meeting of the Town of Aurora Council, Ontario, Canada. There were 110 Aurora citizens in attendance. Sussmann explained that 15-minute cities are the gateway to digital IDs, CBDCs, 24/7 surveillance, social credit scores, outlawing of private ownership and more. Once these are in place, “climate lockdowns to be implemented easily, arbitrarily and indefinitely,” he said.

While Joe Biden sinks and Donald Trump soars, Hillary Clinton warns of more Russian interference.
Douglas Andrews
The numbers have gone from bad to worse for Joe Biden. And as we noted a couple of months back, the end is near.
We try not to dwell on poll numbers because major media outlets are pollagandists — that is, they use their polling to shape and drive public opinion rather than merely reflecting it. This “bandwagon” appeal is a phenomenon that our Mark Alexander described years ago, and its poisonous effects have only become more so.
And yet. Two recent polls — polls that are traditionally friendly to Democrat candidates — portend an unmitigated electoral disaster for Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats. One, from The Washington Post and ABC News, has Donald Trump polling 10 points ahead of our Worst President Ever™ in a head-to-head matchup. The poll’s 52-42 margin favoring Trump is significant because the same poll, in its final iteration before the 2020 election, had Biden leading Trump by 12 points, 54-42. That’s a 22-point swing, and it comes against a backdrop of two impeachments, four indictments, and 91 criminal charges against the former president. Why, it’s almost as if a majority of the American people think these charges are purely political.
Outlier! they screeched, and perhaps it is. Indeed, the Post’s own polling numbers proved so alarming to their Democrat fellow-travelers that they followed up its release with a disclaimer: “The Post-ABC poll shows Biden trailing Trump by 10 percentage points at this early stage in the election cycle,” they note, “although the sizable margin of Trump’s lead in this survey is significantly at odds with other public polls that show the general election contest a virtual dead heat. The difference between this poll and others, as well as the unusual makeup of Trump’s and Biden’s coalitions in this survey, suggest it is probably an outlier.”
That’s right. The ABC-WP cognoscenti are tapping their own brakes, denouncing their own numbers, telling folks not to believe their own crackerjack pollsters.
So you see, polling that favors Democrats is an inlier and therefore a reliable barometer, while polling that favors Le Bête Orange is an outlier and therefore not a harbinger.
And those who say “Just wait till the Democrats start running attack ads” forget the fact that they’ve been running a nonstop attack ad against Trump for the past seven years.
A recent NBC News poll serves up some even more troubling news for Biden: The poll has him at an appropriately abysmal 23% approval for his willful non-handling of the southern border catastrophe. In addition, it has him a stunning 34 points under water, 30% to 64%, for his handling of the economy, and 19 points under water, 37% to 56%, for his presidential job approval rating.
As for the coalition that Democrats count on to win elections, the poll has Biden doing poorly with four critical voting blocs: He’s at 46% with young people, 46% with women, 43% with Latinos, and just 36% with independent voters. These are the building blocks of the Democrat electorate. And if these numbers remain anywhere near where they are now, then Joe Biden is toast. The Democrats are right to be panicking, and it won’t be long before they drug him up and trot him out for an LBJ moment.
Which is as it should be. A guy of Joe Biden’s cognitive age should be at home in a Barcalounger. Either that, or he should be surrounded by adoring grandkids (all seven of them), peering at him through prison bars.
Elsewhere in politics, it’s déjà vu all over again. We say this because Hillary Clinton is at it again, prebunking Trump’s 2024 electoral victory as the work of — wait for it! — Vladimir Putin.
And we’re all “deniers,” she says, if we don’t agree with her.
As Fox News reports, the Worst Presidential Candidate Ever™ sat down for an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki and warned that we should be talking about Russian electoral interference once again in the 2024 cycle.
“I don’t think, despite all of the deniers, there is any doubt that [Vladimir Putin] interfered in our election, or that he has interfered in many ways in the internal affairs of other countries, funding political parties, funding political candidates, buying off government officials in different places,” Hillary hillarized.
“He hates democracy,” she said of Putin, although she might just as well have been speaking about Trump. “He particularly hates the West and he especially hates us. And he has determined that he can do two things simultaneously. He can try to continue to damage and divide us internally, and he’s quite good at it.”
“It’s almost beyond parody, isn’t it?” asked a bemused Piers Morgan on Fox News this morning.
Hillary, of course, was the real Russia collusionist, having bought and paid for the pack of salacious Russian lies known as the Steele dossier and thereby ensuring genuine Russian interference in the 2016 election. Regarding her never-ending claim that Trump was an “illegitimate” president and that he and those dastardly Russians “stole” that election from her, we’re still waiting for that social media ban. Or is it only Republicans who can’t question the legitimacy of our elections?
On this point, Morgan couldn’t check his sarcasm: “Here she is again, talking to Jen Pizzaki. Now Jen Pizzaki, rather like Hillary, they have been very, very angry about Donald Trump and his election-denying, both of them, on the record, many times in the last couple of years. So this is terrible for democracy. It’s the enemy of democracy. How dare he not accept the results of an election.”
And so it goes with Hillary and her endless electoral grievance. There’s no introspection, no self-blame, and no class.
The former Democrat says the policies that cause cities to flourish are not coming from his old party.
Nate Jackson
Dallas, Texas, is fortunate. The city has elected Republican mayors as recently as 2007 and 1991, and it now has a Republican mayor again after Eric Johnson announced that he’s switching parties from Democrat to Republican. It’s now the largest city in the nation with a Republican mayor.
This switch is noteworthy partly because Johnson is black, and partly because of his explanation for doing so. To mark the change, he wrote an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal laying out his rationale. It boils down to economics and public safety.
Saying his priority over his more than four years has been “to make the city safer, stronger and more vibrant,” he implied that his policies were already more Republican than Democrat. Being family friendly, welcoming to businesses, and supportive of police is not exactly the Democrat Party line these days.
As for the last part, crime has been a huge and growing problem in many major American cities. Johnson addressed that head on: “Alone among America’s 10 most populous cities, Dallas has brought violent crime down in every major category, including murder, year-over-year for the past two years.” He did that by opposing the “defund the police” movement — a mind-numbingly foolish movement in a city where five cops were murdered in a high-profile case back in 2016.
“The future of America’s great urban centers,” wrote Johnson, “depends on the willingness of the nation’s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.” Republicans are simply better at this, he said, adding, “American cities need Republicans — and Republicans need American cities.”
Why is that? The portion of Americans living in urban areas has exploded, going from 20% just prior to the War Between the States to 40% at the turn of the 20th century to nearly 80% today.
He sounded downright Reaganesque when he wrote: “With my change in party affiliation, I recognize that the number of Republican mayors leading the nation’s 10 largest cities has increased from zero to one. This is hardly a red wave. But it is clear that the nation and its cities have reached a time for choosing.”
Indeed they have. Dallas is the nation’s ninth most populous, behind the other Texas cities of Houston and San Antonio. Only neighboring Fort Worth has a Republican mayor.
In fact, of America’s top 20 most populous cities, Dallas and Fort Worth are the only two with GOP mayors. Of the top 40 cities, only seven are led by Republicans. Los Angeles, the second-biggest city, has had one Republican mayor since 1961. Chicago, the third biggest, hasn’t had one since 1931. Similar trends abound nationwide, especially in the cities with the worst crime — Baltimore (1967), St. Louis (1949), Detroit (1962). You get the idea.
Nevertheless, Joel Abbott at Not the Bee jokes, “A black leader switching to the Republicans is like a Muslim becoming Christian in Pakistan: There’s zero worldly profit and a whole lot of persecution in store.” Indeed, there may be no more persecuted or hated minority than a black conservative.
Here’s hoping that more mayors, city council members, state legislators, and many others of whatever color begin to realize that Democrats are leading our cities, states, and the nation itself down a very dark road. Crime is suffocating our cities. Radical leftism is destroying our schools. Spendthrift waste is driving our nation to bankruptcy.
That will continue unless more voters and leaders take the red pill.
Biden’s UAW strike, Writers Guild’s “tentative agreement,” Newsom does right thing for wrong reasons, and more.
Thomas Gallatin & Jordan Candler
Cross-Examination
Biden’s UAW strike: In a bid to beat Donald Trump to the punch, Joe Biden will meet with picketing members of the United Auto Workers to show “solidarity” with their cause. On Friday, Biden announced his plan to go to Michigan and stand with the strikers, contending, “It’s time for a win-win agreement that keeps American auto manufacturing thriving with well-paid UAW jobs.” UAW President Shawn Fain invited Biden to visit the striking workers, seemingly to counter Trump’s announcement last Wednesday of his plan to meet with the workers. With Biden sinking in the polls, Democrats were worried that Biden failing to show would make for bad PR. Following Biden’s announcement, Trump responded on Truth Social, “Crooked Joe Biden had no intention of going to visit the United Autoworkers [sic], until I announced that I would be heading to Michigan to be with them.”
Hollywood is saved? Speaking of striking workers, the Writers Guild of America has reached a “tentative agreement” regarding a new contract with Hollywood studios. Announcing the presumptive deal, the WGA stated, “This deal is exceptional — with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership.” The actors who joined the WGA strikers last month have yet to come to a deal. The WGA told its members not to end their strike, which has been going since May 2, “until specifically authorized to by the Guild.” The demands from the WGA included increased royalty payments for streaming content and assurances that AI would not be used to encroach on the writers’ work and compensation.
DeSantis fights CCP: Four schools have been suspended from Florida’s school choice scholarship program over their alleged “direct ties to the Chinese Communist Party.” The Sunshine State’s school choice program spearheaded by Governor Ron DeSantis aims to provide a voucher system for students to go to schools that meet the state’s program requirements. In May, DeSantis signed a bill that prohibits any schools affiliated with a “foreign country of concern” from being included in the voucher program. DeSantis has been a staunch opponent of Marxist ideology and made his position clear: “The Chinese Communist Party is not welcome in the state of Florida. We will not put up with any attempt to influence students with a communist ideology or allow Floridians’ tax dollars to go to schools that are connected to our foreign adversaries.”
Newsom vetoes AB 957: California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom did the right thing, even if it was for the wrong reasons. Late Friday evening, Newsom vetoed AB 957, a bill that would have required a court to consider parents’ refusal to affirm their child’s “transgender” identity as a detriment to “the health, safety, and welfare of the child,” and therefore give the state the authority to separate the child from his or her parents over the issue of “transgender” identity. In vetoing the legislation, Newsom said that though he appreciates the “deep commitment to advancing the rights of transgender Californians,” the bill undermined the judicial branch, and “other-minded elected officials, in California and other states, could very well use this strategy to diminish the civil rights of vulnerable communities.” What this does reveal is that Newsom clearly has his eye on a run for the White House, likely sooner than later.
Fatter Americans: Ten years ago, not a single state in the U.S. had an adult population obesity rate over 35%. Today, 22 states do. Demonstrating just how fast the problem of obesity is increasing nationally, just last year there were 19 states with a 35% adult obesity rate. The majority of the 22 states with a 35% or higher adult obesity rate are in the South and Midwest. Three states with the highest obesity rate, topping 40%, are Louisiana, Oklahoma, and West Virginia. Health problems directly associated with obesity include diabetes, heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, and diminished mental health. The solution to this growing problem is simple — more exercise and a better diet. But of course those are decisions individuals need to make. The trouble is, thanks to ObamaCare, everyone is now paying more for poor health choices.

Joe Biden’s restrictive energy policies are creating higher costs for all consumers.
Thomas Gallatin
In June of last year, the average price of diesel at the pump hit a record high of $5.82 per gallon. While gas and diesel prices have both fallen from last year’s highs, they have still come nowhere near the $2-per-gallon levels enjoyed during much of Donald Trump’s presidency.
While sustained high inflation has certainly contributed to the high cost of diesel, a bigger factor has been that age-old market rule of supply and demand. As supplies of diesel fuel have decreased, the cost of diesel has risen … which then causes more inflation.
While the global pandemic certainly contributed to this reduction in supplies, several other factors have ensured that levels have remained low.
Back in June 2019, a fire destroyed the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery. That refinery was responsible for providing roughly 30% to 35% of the diesel fuel for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and its permanent closure has resulted in diesel fuel having to be piped in from the Gulf Coast. That of course raises costs.
Furthermore, COVID’s impact on the economy served to temporarily shut down refineries’ annual scheduled maintenance operations. Now many are scrambling to get these refineries serviced, and production slows down during maintenance operations. That lower output leads to lower supplies.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has also been a contributing factor, as NATO and the U.S. slapped sanctions on Russian oil and natural gas. With Russian fuel off the market for Europe and the U.S., the demand for crude from OPEC nations increased.
The trouble is, the Biden administration has done little to address the diesel shortage. If anything, Joe Biden has only contributed to it.
Therefore, all indications are that the price of diesel, which currently comes in at roughly $4.60 per gallon, is expected to only keep rising. Some are predicting that diesel could top $5 a gallon in the coming months.
This is bad news for everyone, as diesel fuel is essential for moving goods all across the country and therefore directly impacts the cost of those products. Furthermore, diesel fuel is directly tied to America’s food supply, as farmers depend upon it for running their farm equipment.
In a real sense, the world runs on diesel. It affects everything from planting to shipping to heating. The price for travel, food, and, well, just about everything else will be impacted by the rising cost of diesel. And for the foreseeable future, no amount of investment in renewable energy can offset that increased cost.
You can argue that there are hate groups, but these are aberrations and do not occupy positions of authority in our institutions.

I come from a long line of anti-fascists.
My cousin Adolph Pace was a member of the 101st Airborne Division that parachuted onto the Normandy beaches on D-Day.
His parachute was later used to make the wedding dress of my cousin Helen. The blood and dirt stains of battle were covered up with love and care by her mother Jennie’s crocheted lace hearts and flowers.
Before my father went down South to fight for the civil rights of what were then called “negro voters,” he spent almost two years in the frigid climate of Thule, Greenland, where he worked at a NORAD post during the Cold War.
Although the enemy was officially “communism,” he considered it a battle against the forces of oppression and the labels didn’t matter.
He felt the same way about the racists in Mississippi who, while they did not overtly adopt Hitler or Stalin as their role models, engaged in the same tactics of hatred and intimidation.
In my immigration practice, I have had contact with many courageous individuals who have fought against fascism, including clients who openly opposed dictators, the Taliban, and repressive Central American gangs.
I know what fascism looks like, smells like, sounds like.
I also know the people who call themselves anti-fascists or “antifa” in this country are frauds. I say that from personal experience.
Today, if you are looking for fascism, you will find it.
That does not mean that it actually exists, only that you are capable of turning innocent straw into racist gold, like a social justice Rumpelstiltskin.
I’ve written about many of these instances where, for example, a random comment has been turned into a federal case, resulting in the loss of jobs and reputation.
Nikki Haley dealt with that a month ago when she was accused of being a bigot for suggesting that it’s not a good thing to vote for Biden because that means we will end up getting Kamala Harris.
A factual statement becomes an indictment of women of color. Fascism!
And then we have the strange idea that calling a man a man and a woman a woman is bigotry and oppression, and that using the wrong pronouns will lead someone to commit suicide.
It’s a twisted version of “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” wherein we are forced to pretend that gender is not only fluid, it’s not even “real.”
We also cannot overlook the crusade to defund the police, which has been a pet project of the Antifa left (because there is no Antifa right) since well before one rogue police officer killed George Floyd.
The irony is that the very people who want us to strip money and resources from law enforcement end up being the ones who scream the loudest when they themselves are victims of crime.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the Democratic party official in Minnesota who had vowed to defund the police in 2020 and was recently a victim of a violent carjacking.
They say that a conservative is a liberal who was just mugged. Perhaps we should change that to “a liberal who was just carjacked” since Shivanthi Sathanandan is now whining for tougher penalties for criminals.
And my favorite is when they tell us that books that are readily available in libraries and on Amazon have somehow been “banned.”
There is this sense that unless children can have access to graphic novels about how Johnny became Janie and then engaged in sodomy during school recess, we are being Orwellian censors, destroying the creativity of our youth.
These are all First World problems.
Fascism exists today, only not in this country. At the very least, it is not ingrained in our legal system, in our government agencies, and in our religious organizations.
Those things happen in other countries, the ones that people are fleeing to seek shelter in the United States.
You can argue that there are hate groups, and you can throw around the term “white nationalism,” but these are aberrations, and do not occupy positions of authority in our institutions.
I understand there are politicians who say things we don’t like, and sue Disney, and pass laws that try and stop women from having abortions and do things that generally make liberals and squishy moderates angry, but these are all a part of the political process.
These are not the actions of fascist dictators, and the self-styled Antifa of today are simply children, looking for relevance in a world that is on to their game.
This administration’s effort to shift the blame for our border catastrophe makes it clear that it thinks we’re idiots.
Douglas Andrews
When all else fails, blame the Republicans.
As sad as it sounds, that seems to be the immigration strategy of the Biden administration, whose paid liar, Karine Jean-Pierre, said this to reporters at the White House on Thursday: “We have taken steps without the help of Republicans in Congress to do everything that we can to deal with this issue.”
KJP continued, “So they’re doing the opposite of what the president is trying to do, which is actually move forward in a way that is humane, safe and has an orderly enforcement pathway process here.”
No one ever went broke overestimating the idiocy of low-information Democrat voters, but Team Biden keeps pushing the envelope, keeps putting that proposition to the test.
“Finally!” exclaimed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. “KJP is correct! Biden has taken historic action. He screwed up the entire immigration process by ignoring the law and common sense and single-handedly made a complete mess of our borders. Don’t forget the ‘border czar’ Kamala Harris and her ‘historic’ action.”
Huckabee’s last reference to a “Kamala Harris” is a bit obscure, but it’s our understanding that this person is Joe Biden’s vice president and was actually tabbed by him back in March of 2021 to fix the catastrophe at our southern border. Shortly thereafter, she mumbled something about “root causes,” but she hasn’t been seen since, except for a brief appearance last year to promote electric school buses. You remember: “Who doesn’t love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus, right?”
Moving on.
At the aforementioned Thursday briefing, Jean-Pierre’s laughable claim was eventually challenged by Fox News’s Peter Doocy, who asked, “So, what do you call it here at the White House when 10,000 people illegally cross the border in a single day?”
To which KJP sneeringly responded with her own question: “So, what do you call it, Peter, when the GOP put forth a — wait, no, no, no, no, no, you can’t.”
Doocy objected to the White House press secretary’s attempt to answer a question with a deflecting question, at which point KJP dodged the question entirely: “No, no, no, we’re moving on,” she said.
It was a disgraceful performance by the Biden administration’s official spokesperson, but we can’t say we’re surprised. Remember last year when she said that illegal immigration “has gone down by more than 90%” thanks to Team Biden’s brilliant handling of the border?
Lest anyone think KJP’s comments were mere sloppiness, here was her boss on Thursday at the Congressional Black Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual gala: “MAGA Republicans in Congress and my predecessor spent four years gutting the immigration system. They continue to undermine our border security today, blocking bipartisan reform.”
We’ll say this: The dude has chutzpah.
Not to be outdone by himself, Joe Biden’s ongoing border dereliction has resulted in yet another dubious achievement. As Fox News reports: “The data brings the total migrant encounters for the fiscal year, excluding September, to over 2.2 million migrant encounters. CBP sources told Fox that, with September’s numbers so far, encounters for FY 2023 have already surpassed FY 22’s record 2.37 million encounters. Sources told Fox News on Friday that, with eight days left to go, there have been 2,388,350 encounters in FY 2023.” Last Sunday alone, the Border Patrol apprehended more than 7,500 illegal border crossers, which is nearly double the daily average.
It appears that the American people’s disgust with Biden’s handling of the border has spilled over across the partisan divide. According to the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, 62% of Americans disapprove of the job Joe Biden is doing on immigration. Which tells us that 38% of Americans would like to see a permanent Democrat majority regardless of the damage it does to the fabric of our country.
The dereliction is willful, of course, and so are the administration’s efforts to fudge the numbers. On this point, Tennessee Republican Mark Green, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, called out its leading culprit: “Secretary Mayorkas did not hesitate to spike the football in June, and given his record of misleading Congress and the American people, I fully expect he will try to pull a similar PR stunt with these numbers. But don’t be fooled — cartel business is booming, and it will continue as long as Secretary Mayorkas insists on these radical open-borders policies. No amount of spin can change the fact that the American people are suffering the worst border crisis in our nation’s history. In fact, Secretary Mayorkas’s open-borders policies are actively undermining our homeland security and jeopardizing the safety of every American.”
While many of us were distracted by the daily deluge, Team Biden quietly said on Wednesday that it will offer temporary legal status to more than 470,000 Venezuelan illegals. As The Washington Post reports, “Biden officials told reporters that Venezuelans who had entered the United States by July 31 would be eligible for temporary protected status, a designation that will shield them from deportation and speed up their ability to obtain U.S. work permits.”
But, yeah, like KJP said: It’s all the Republicans’ fault.
Just remember: It’s all intentional. The Democrats’ border malfeasance is all part of their plan to make America more brown — and therefore more blue. Hispanics, they believe, can be brought into a permanent Democrat allegiance through the lure of free stuff. It all starts in Texas, which is ground zero of the border battle, and which, if the Democrats can flip it from red to blue, will likely prevent Republicans from ever winning another presidential election.
We think they’re wrong, and the significant shift of Hispanic voters from Democrat to Republican in recent years indicates that their cynical plan might backfire. We wrote about this rightward shift a year ago, and we’re sticking by it.
After all, Hispanic Americans are driven by the same three things that drive most conservative Americans: God, family, and work. As long as this remains the case, it’s hard to see Hispanics finding a home in the party of Joe Biden, the party that believes men can get pregnant and have abortions.

“I’m going to Washington to discuss this [immigration] crisis [in Western Europe] with our American counterparts. If we fail to meet these challenges, then our political institutions risk losing their democratic legitimacy.” —British Home Secretary Suella Braverman
“Biden’s open border policy isn’t just unpopular. It also violates the Constitution and his oath of office. The most fundamental duty of the president under Article II is to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed.’ When it comes to immigration, Biden is not faithfully executing our nation’s laws. Rather, he is deliberately flouting and nullifying them.” —John Hinderaker
“I’ll be honest with you, I believe 100 percent [Joe Biden] does bear some responsibility for this crisis. … I haven’t heard from anybody. Nobody has bothered to call me or anyone in the city staff saying, ‘Hey, this is the federal government, we’re worried about you, this is our plan of action.’ We’re here abandoned, we’re on the border, we’re asking for help. This is unacceptable.” —Eagle Pass, Texas, Mayor Rolando Salinas
“No nation in history has survived once its borders were destroyed, once its citizenship was rendered no different from mere residence, and once its neighbors with impunity undermined its sovereignty. Ending illegal immigration now depends solely on the American people overriding the corrupt special interests and leaders who profit from the current chaos and human misery.” —Victor Davis Hanson

“[John] Fetterman’s appalling sense of dress, and [Chuck] Schumer’s capitulation to it, can be seen as part of the Left’s broader, sustained attacks on the norms of many venerable institutions. … But the koshering of Fetterman’s sartorial slovenliness bespeaks a trend both greater and more pernicious than the wokes’ now-trite attacks on American traditions: the failure to recognize, and uphold, objective social standards. Political Futures
“The relationship between pro-life voters and Donald Trump was always transactional. The question Trump raised in comments [last] weekend is whether he views that transaction as over. In 2016, he needed the support of abortion foes to win the GOP nomination. Now, he doesn’t think he needs them at all, and it seems he’s more focused on a general election mindset of the suburban voters he lost in 2020 and his endorsed candidates struggled to win back in 2022.” —Ben Domenech

The survey found that 57% of likely Democratic voters would vote for President Joe Biden in the 2024 Democratic primaries, while 25% would vote for RFK Jr.
Only three percent (3%) of Democrats favor author Marianne Williamson in the primaries, while seven percent (7%) would vote for some other candidate.
If Biden is the Democratic presidential candidate in 2024 and Republicans nominate former President Donald Trump, while RFK Jr. runs as a third-party candidate, 33% of Democratic voters say it is likely they would vote for Kennedy, including 14% who say it’s “very likely.”
Among all likely voters, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is viewed favorably 49%, including 14% with a very favorable impression.
Thirty-seven percent (37%) view Kennedy unfavorably, including 20% with a very unfavorable opinion.

In the past decade, the growth of the Internet and social media has brought with it a dramatic uptick in populist sentiment.
Legacy institutions have declared war against populism, referring to its claims as “misinformation” or “disinformation” and calling on the government or government-adjacent actors (herein referred to as “the censors”) to clamp down on such claims as they spread across the Internet like wildfire.
The censors rarely decline these opportunities to silence criticism, justifying the censorship as a matter of “national security.”
More than other Western nations, the United States champions freedom of speech.
But it has frequently failed in its aspirations, beginning in 1798 with the Alien and Sedition Acts.
There are countless examples since then of the US failing to adhere to its core value system, too many to recount in one brief article.
The Internet Lets Claims Spread Like Wildfire
Beginning with the Arab Spring in 2010, the extent to which social media could foster grassroots campaigns against perceived tyranny or injustice became increasingly apparent. Martin Gurri, a former CIA analyst, has commented on such phenomena at length in his book, The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority in the New Millenium.
The nation-state correctly perceives in revolutions a threat to its existing foundations and deploys various methods to crush dissent. Western nations do not typically deploy the military against the masses or declare martial law. The US has taken a different but directionally similar approach, whereby law enforcement and intelligence agencies form cozy partnerships with private actors, such as social media platforms, financial institutions, and other digital intermediaries.
After the Great Recession, populist movements, like Occupy Wall Street on the Left and the Tea Party movement on the Right, garnered dramatic support across Western nations. As with most populist movements, a significant number of the activists embraced ideas branded as “conspiracy theories” by the established order. Rather than examining these allegations, the established order preferred to label the entire movement “crazy” or “conspiratorial.”
Since the movements began, there has been a significant convergence of Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party thought leaders. It is no coincidence that, despite their different politial affiliations, Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, and Michael Shellenberger often sound like Tucker Carlson, Dan Bongino, and Donald Trump when it comes to criticizing the government and legacy institutions.
Each of these men has been personally targeted by the censorship industrial complex.
The Twitter Files Expose the Censorship Racket
On March 9, 2023, Michael Shellenberger delivered his testimony to the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which he titled “The Censorship Industrial Complex.” In sixty-eight pages, Michael Shellenberger outlines how “Americans taxpayers are unwittingly financing the growth and power of a censorship-industrial complex run by America’s scientific and technological elite.” He also discusses how the Twitter Files documents “have revealed a large and growing network of government agencies, academic institutions, and nongovernmental organizations that are actively censoring Americans citizens, often without their knowledge.”
In his testimony, Shellenberger aptly describes the censorship industrial complex as “a network of ideologically-aligned government, NGO, and academic institutions that discovered over the last few years the power of censorship to protect their own interests against the volatility and risks of the democratic process.” This contention strongly rebuts the ridiculous claim made by corporate media outlets that censorship is often necessary to “protect our democracy.” For legacy institutions, an apparent devotion to democracy is often little more than a cover for kleptocracy, something Fred Siegel touches on in The Revolt against the Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class.
On August 7, 2023, Michael Shellenberger’s Substack exposed the censorship racket between Facebook executives and the White House. The authors note that “newly released internal emails show that Facebook executives felt pressure to comply with White House demands in order to resolve a European Union ban on the social media company’s ability to transfer the data of European users to its servers in the United States.” In the past few years, the European Union has taken a heavy-handed regulatory approach toward US-based social media platforms. These platforms relied on the US to advocate for them during the negotiation of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Without a clear, negotiated framework, these firms would feel significant financial pressure. As the authors of the Substack article note, “The series of events suggests a quid pro quo. Facebook would bow to White House requests for censorship in exchange for its help with the European Union.”
In the past decade, the censorship industrial complex has gained considerable momentum and institutional support. Elite support for censorship is so entrenched that the Harvard Kennedy School published a commentary in September 2022 titled, “Mis- and disinformation studies are too big to fail.” While Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has dimmed opportunities for the censorship industrial complex, there is still much to be done.
In February 2021, an article in Time described a “shadow campaign” that manipulated the 2020 election in the legacy institutions’ preferred direction.
If activists are to dismantle the censorship industrial complex, they must do more than expose the machinery—they must win elections.

The female FBI supervisor, whose name the Justice Department asked be kept private in the transcript, was interviewed recently by the House Judiciary Committee, and she chronicled her interactions with IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler and Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the lead prosecutor in the Hunter Biden probe.
While the agent said she had different recollections than her IRS colleagues about certain aspects of the case and did not believe politics caused any delays, she confirmed there were instances in which prosecutors slowed the investigation. View article →
They’re called “Confucius Classrooms”: American schools are using a curriculum designed and funded by China’s Communist Party to indoctrinate students into believing that China is not a tyrannical country.
