There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "…truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity–it is simply true and that is the end of it" – Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” – Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
By Saturday afternoon (local time), some 200 Palestinians have been killed, with over 1600 wounded as the Israeli military begins its response to the ‘invasion’ of southern Israel launched by Hamas.
After about ten hours of fighting, over 40 Israelis have been reported killed, and over 800 wounded. Hamas also has captured possibly scores of Israeli soldiers and civilians, including what it says are IDF military commanders.
What’s becoming clear given the shocking scenes currently coming out of southern Israel, is that this is set to be the biggest, most devastating Israeli-Palestinian in decades.
It appears at the very least, we are in the midst of a third intifada. But one big question will linger in the coming days and weeks as Israel is sure to escalate its response into a ground invasion Gaza: will the war escalate beyond Gaza and southern Israel?
Already both Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic of Iran have sent “congratulations” messages to Hamas and the Palestinians. Hezbollah’s statement in particular condemned Arab states who have normalized relations with the Jewish state.
The Wall Street Journal reports on Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s statement as follows:
Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which like Palestinian militant groups also vows Israel’s destruction, praised the operation by Hamas inside Israel, according to Arab media.
Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah said it served as a warning against recognizing Israel.
“It sends a message to the Arab and Islamic world, and the international community as a whole, especially those seeking normalization with this enemy, that the Palestinian cause is an everlasting one, alive until victory and liberation,” Nasrallah said in a statement.
At the moment Israel’s northern border with Hezbollah remains quiet, but if a shooting war starts out of southern Lebanon, Israel will find itself in a war on two fronts.
Already there are allegations from Western pundits that Iran is financing this expanded Hamas operation…
A lot happening right now, but Hamas couldn’t have conducted this complex an operation without serious planning and intelligence assistance from Iran. The response from Israel won’t be—and can’t be—the limited, restrained operations people are used to seeing.
Below: while we couldn’t make out any Farsi in the audio of the below disturbing footage, allegations like IRGC operatives being involved will only grow…
A potential broader war could also draw in Syria, given already Israeli jets have struck the country almost on a weekly basis. Israel has long said it is attacking Iranian targets and assets inside Syria.
If Hezbollah and Israel enter a war, this would increase the likelihood of it expanding into already war-torn Syria.
Earlier today Hamas terrorists launched a major surprise attack on Israel. The Islamist group fired over 5,000 missiles inside Israel, crossed into southern Israel, captured innocent citizens and Israeli soldiers as prisoners, and launched numerous attacks across southern Israel.
This assault comes just weeks after Joe Biden sent $6 billion to Iran in September.
This time it took four weeks before Iran’s proxy army in Gaza launched a historic military assault on Israel on the Sabbath.
Earlier this morning Joe Biden’s US Office of Palestinian Affairs urged Israel not to defend itself from the 5,000 missile attack and mass kidnappings and killings by Hamas.
Please note: Joe Biden armed the Taliban with $80 Billion in US weapons and supplies when he surrendered to the Taliban and fled Afghanistan in 2021.
Piles of cash and rows of US military equipment Joe Biden and Mark Milley left the Taliban as the US surrendered in Afghanistan.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported – Joe Biden supplied the Taliban terrorist organization and their Islamist accomplices with billions of dollars worth of US weapons, armed vehicles, helicopters, ammunition, and piles of cash.
Rather than destroying the equipment before leaving the country, Joe Biden surrendered nearly $85 billion worth of US military equipment to the Taliban.
In fact, Joe Biden left 300 times more guns than those passed to the Mexican cartels in Obama’s Fast and Furious program.
The Taliban later released video of the weapons Joe Biden left behind and the room full of stacks of $100 bills Joe left for good measure.
The Taliban posted videos of pallets of weapons and stacks of $100 bills they have seized.
Here is a more complete list of US-supplied and left behind equipment now controlled by Taliban:

Much of the information included in the above list is public record.
But that was not enough.
In March, the Taliban started posting video of the fields of military vehicles the US left behind for the Taliban.
More vehicles.
The Taliban also claims the Abu Dujana brigade of the Al-Badr Corps have already repaired over 300 military vehicles and now are ready for use.

Death is not natural; it is the last enemy Christians must face in this fallen world. Today, R.C. Sproul helps us obtain a biblical understanding of death and what happens to God’s people when they die.
91:4he will cover The Hebrew word used here, sakhakh, means to “shut off” or “make inaccessible,” for the purpose of protection.
With his feathers May refer to the larger flight feathers of a bird’s wing.
under his wings Yahweh’s care and actions are combined in the picture of a bird caring for its young. See note on 17:8; note on Ruth 2:12.
a shield and a buckler Used for protection for battle.[1]
91:4pinions … wings. For the image of God as a protecting bird, cf. Ex. 19:4; Deut. 32:11; see also note on Ps. 91:1–2 (“shadow”).[2]
91:4 under His wings. Pictures the protection of a parent bird (see note on Ps 57:1).[3]
91:4His feathers … His wings: God is described as a mother hen under whose wings the psalmist can come for refuge (61:4; 63:7). Shield and buckler indicates complete protection from all harm. God is an all protective shield for the believer.[4]
91:4Shelter andrefuge in the Almighty. God’s tender, personal care is likened to that of a mother bird with her young.
Protection in the faithfulness of God. His promises are sure. What He has said, He will do. This is the believer’s shield and buckler.[5]
4. “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust.” A wonderful expression! Had it been invented by an uninspired man it would have verged upon blasphemy, for who should dare to apply such words to the Infinite Jehovah? But as he himself authorised, yea, dictated the language, we have here a transcendent condescension, such as it becomes us to admire and adore. Doth the Lord speak of his feathers, as though he likened himself to a bird? Who will not see herein a matchless love, a divine tenderness, which should both woo and win our confidence? Even as a hen covereth her chickens so doth the Lord protect the souls which dwell in him; let us cower down beneath him for comfort and for safety. Hawks in the sky and snares in the field are equally harmless when we nestle so near the Lord. “His truth”—his true promise, and his faithfulness to his promise “shall be thy shield and buckler.” Double armour has he who relies upon the Lord. He bears a shield and wears an all-surrounding coat of mail—such is the force of the word “buckler.” To quench fiery darts the truth is a most effectual shield, and to blunt all swords it is an equally effectual coat of mail. Let us go forth to battle thus harnessed for the war, and we shall be safe in the thickest of the fight. It has been so, and so shall it be till we reach the land of peace, and there among the “helmed cherubim and sworded seraphim,” we will wear no other ornament, his truth shall still be our shield and buckler.[6]
Ver. 4. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust.—The covering wing:—
There is here a very distinct triad of thoughts. There is the covering wing; there is the flight to its protection; and there is the warrant for that flight. “He shall cover thee with His pinions”; that is the Divine act. “Under His wings shalt thou trust”; that is the human condition. “His truth shall be thy shield and buckler”; that is the Divine manifestation which makes the human condition possible.
I. The covering wing. The main idea in this image is that of the expanded pinion, beneath the shelter of which the callow young lie, and are gathered. Whatsoever kites may be in the sky, whatsoever stoats and weasels may be in the hedges, they are safe there. The image suggests not only the thought of protection but those of fostering, downy warmth, peaceful proximity to a heart that throbs with parental love, and a multitude of other happy privileges realized by those who nestle beneath that wing. If we have felt a difficulty, as I suppose we all have sometimes, and are ready to say with the half-despondent psalmist, “My feet were almost gone, and my steps had well-nigh slipped”; when we see what we think the complicated mysteries of the Divine providence in this world, we have to come to this belief that the evil that is in the evil will never come near the man sheltered beneath God’s wing. The physical external event may be entirely the same to him as to another, who is not covered with His feathers. Here are two partners in a business, the one a Christian man, and the other is not. A common disaster overwhelms them. They become bankrupts. Is their insolvency to the one the same as it is to the other? Here are two men on board a ship, the one putting his trust in God, the other thinking it all nonsense to trust anything but himself. They are both drowned. Is drowning the same to the two? As their corpses lie side by side among the ooze, with the weeds over them, and the lobsters at them, you may say of the one, but only of the one, “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” For the protection that is granted to faith is only to be understood by faith. The poison is all wiped off the arrow by that Divine protection. It may still wound, but it does not putrefy the flesh. The sewage water comes down, but it passes into the filtering bed, and is disinfected and cleansed before it is permitted to flow over our fields.
II. The flight of the shelterless to the Shelter. “Under His wings shalt thou flee to a refuge.” Is not that a vivid, intense, picturesque, but most illuminative way of telling us what is the very essence, and what is the urgency, and what is the worth, of what we call faith? There are plenty of men that know all about the security of the Refuge, and believe it utterly, but never run for it; and so never get into it. Faith is the gathering up of the whole powers of the nature to fling myself into an Asylum, to cast myself into God’s arms, to take shelter beneath the shadow of His wings. And unless a man does that, and swiftly, he is exposed to every bird of prey in the sky, and to every beast of prey lurking in wait for him. The metaphor tells us, too, what are the limits and the worth of faith. A man is not saved because he believes that he is saved, but because by believing he lays hold of the salvation. The power of faith is but that it brings me into contact with God, and sets me behind the seven-fold bastions of the Almighty protection.
III. The warrant for this flight. “His truth shall be thy shield.” Now, “truth” here does not mean the body of revealed words, which are often called God’s truth, but it describes a certain characteristic of the Divine nature. And if, instead of “truth,” we read the good old English word “troth,” we should be a great deal nearer understanding what the psalmist meant. You cannot trust a God that has not given you an inkling of His character or disposition, but if He has spoken then “you know where to have Him.” That is just what the psalmist means. How can a man be encouraged to fly into a refuge unless he is absolutely sure that there is an entrance for him into it, and that, entering, he is safe? And that security is provided in the great thought of God’s troth. “Thy faithfulness is like the great mountains.” “Who is like unto Thee, O Lord; or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?” That faithfulness shall be our “shield,” not a tiny targe that a man could bear upon his left arm, but the word means the large shield, planted in the ground in front of the soldier, covering him, however hot the fight; and circling him around, like a tower of iron. (A. Maclaren, D.D.)
Safe shelter:—
The Lord here compares Himself to a hen covering her brood, and He speaks not only of the wing, which gives shelter, but He enters into detail, and speaks of the feathers, which give warmth, and comfort, and repose.
I. When may this text be relied upon by a believer?
1. In cases of extreme peril.
(1) Public calamity.
(2) Domestic grief.
(3) Personal danger.
2. But texts of Scripture like this are not made to be hung up on the nail and only taken down now and then in stress of weather. Blessed be God, the promise before us is available for sunshiny days, yea, for every hour of this mortal life. You always need protection, and, believer in Christ, you shall always have it.
3. In times of temptation.
4. In times of expected trials. Many a true servant of God has said to himself, “What shall I do when I get old? I am just able now to pick up a living, but what shall I do when these withered limbs can no longer avail to earn my daily bread?” Do? Why, you will have the same Father then as you have now to succour you, and you will have the same Providence then as now to supply your wants. You thank God for your daily bread now, and you shall have your daily bread then, for He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust.
5. In the hour of death.
II. How may we expect the text to be fulfilled?
1. It may possibly be verified to us by our being preserved altogether from the danger which we dread. God has often, as predicted in the present psalm, in times of pestilence, and famine, and war, preserved His people by remarkable providences. Strong faith has always a particular immunity in times of trouble. When a man has really, under a sense of duty, under a conscientious conviction rested alone in God, he has been enabled to walk where the thickest dangers were flying, all unharmed.
2. There are some dangers from which the providence of God does not preserve the Lord’s people, but still He covers them with His feathers in another sense, by giving them grace to bear up under their troubles. You shall find your afflictions become your mercies, and your trials become your comforts. You shall glory in tribulation, and find light in the midst of gloom, and have joy unspeakable in the season of your sorrow.
3. In yet another way doth God set seal to this record when by His grace having sustained His servants in their trouble He brings them out of it greatly enriched thereby. Oh! it is a great blessing to be put through the fire, if you come out purified.
III. Why may we be sure that it shall be so?
1. Faith enlists the sympathy of God.
2. God’s promise is pledged. You keep your promise to your child, and will not God keep His promise to you? O rest in Him, then; He shall cover us with His feathers, for His own word declares it.
3. Moreover, you are His child, and what will not a father do for his own dear child? Were he a stranger you might take little heed though he were in trouble, in danger, or in deep distress—but your child, your own child—oh! you cannot rest while he suffers. (C. H. Spurgeon.)
Under His wings shalt thou trust.—God’s protective care:—
The simile before us represents the mother-bird guarding her young until they can guard themselves. It is protection as a process in training until one has learned to use his capacities for self-protection. The figure before us may be so misused as to emphasize what we may call the “nursery idea” in religious life. God’s purpose and plan is to train man to be self-reliant. As the meaning of all true charity is found in that help which develops self-help, so is God’s method in training man. His protecting help is to make man competent to help himself. This is a wide-reaching principle. The kind of God it discloses is one who has great respect for the creature He has made—a God who has put His image upon man by endowing him with certain qualities capable of growth; a God who puts great value upon the manly, self-sustaining character; a God who expects that when one is a child he will speak as a child, he will understand as a child, he will think as a child. But this same God expects that when the child grows into the man, he will put away childish things. A God who specially puts His protecting care round about the growing time of moral and spiritual childhood, that one may grow up into self-reliant, spiritual manhood—it is this kind of God who is revealed under this familiar likeness. It is truly the mother-bird brooding over her young, teaching, training, and caring for them against the time they must care for themselves. So, also, does this figure show us a certain kind of man—namely, a man who has developed a spiritual vigour and strength under the protecting care of God; a man who has learned from God that he has a mind which can expand with the thoughts of God, a heart which can throb with the feelings of God, a will which from feebleness and indecision can, under this same Divine training, grow virile and resolute. What can come nearer to what must be the true religion of the world as that which shows God protecting man, so that man may grow up into protecting himself? and, again, man affectionately accepting that protection, so that mind, heart, and will may grow up into religious self-reliance? Do we not see in Nature that the picture of the young always under the mother’s wing argues sick offspring when Nature would have growth in healthy self-reliance? In like manner Christian character, if it deserves the name, must be other than an exotic, to be cared for under glass and at a certain temperature. The true likeness is not to a tropical palm in a greenhouse, but rather to a sturdy oak or elm, living and growing in the climate of a North American winter. I know of no better illustration of God’s protecting care rightly used than in the staunch ocean steamer sailing out at the appointed time into the teeth of a hurricane. It is advertised to sail over the seas. The commander is not consulting the signals to see when he can safely set sail. Nor once under way is he studying his chart to find where he can make a harbour. Lighter ships, built for coast service, run for a refuge. Not so the sturdier craft. It is not seeking shelter or protection from the storm. But, with valiant confidence in itself, it moves out into the storm, with much buffeting, some breakages, half-speed at times—yes, occasionally “hove-to,” so terrific is the gale—yet with no purpose to turn back, but moving on—steadily, slowly, resolutely moving on. (A. H. Hall.)[7]
4. He shall protect thee with his wings. This figure, which is employed in other parts of Scripture, is one which beautifully expresses the singularly tender care with which God watches over our safety. When we consider the majesty of God, there is nothing which would suggest a likeness such as is here drawn between him and the hen or other birds, who spread their wings over their young ones to cherish and protect them. But, in accommodation to our infirmity, he does not scruple to descend, as it were, from the heavenly glory which belongs to him, and to encourage us to approach him under so humble a similitude. Since he condescends in such a gracious manner to our weakness, surely there is nothing to prevent us from coming to him with the greatest freedom. By the truth of God, which, the Psalmist says, would be his shield and buckler, we must understand God’s faithfulness, as never deserting his people in the time of their need; still we cannot doubt that he had in his eye the Divine promises, for it is only by looking to these that any can venture to cast themselves upon the protection of God. As, without the word, we cannot come to the enjoyment of that Divine mercy of which the Psalmist had already spoken, he now comes forward himself to bear witness in behalf of it. Formerly, under the comparison of a fortress, he had taught that by trusting in God we shall enjoy safety and security; now he compares God to a shield, intimating that he will come between us and all our enemies to preserve us from their attacks.[8]

For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. (Psalm 94:14)
No, nor will He cast even so much as one of them. Man has his castoffs, but God has none; for His choice is unchangeable, and His love is everlasting. None can find out a single person whom God has forsaken after having revealed Himself savingly to him.
This grand truth is mentioned in the psalm to cheer the heart of the afflicted. The Lord chastens His own; but He never forsakes them. The result of the double work of the law and the rod is our instruction, and the fruit of that instruction is a quieting of spirit, a sobriety of mind, out of which comes rest. The ungodly are let alone till the pit is digged into which they will fall and be taken; but the godly are sent to school to be prepared for their glorious destiny hereafter. Judgment will return and finish its work upon the rebels, but it will equally return to vindicate the sincere and godly. Hence we may bear the rod of chastisement with calm submission; it means not anger, but love.

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” – Hebrews 11:7
As with many Old Testament narratives, we see grace amidst judgment. Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord. As a righteous man, when Noah got out of the ark, he sacrificed to the Lord and like Abel before Him, Noah’s sacrifice was pleasing to the Lord.
The flood narrative can be compared to the covenant established with believers and their seed. The rainbow becomes a visible proclamation of an invisible reality, just like the waters of baptism. However, the object of the sign must be trusted. We must not put our trust in our baptism or in a rainbow, but in the God who supplies both. The rainbow, like witnessing a baptism, is a continual call to conversion (faith and repentance).
In Hebrews 11:7, both condemnation and an inheritance of righteousness are mentioned. If you have been baptized, then you are still outside the ark and in great peril. If you have been baptized, then you must grab hold of that baptism and say in your heart, “Yes, I believe Jesus has washed away all of my sins and He gives me His righteousness.” When you do that, then you may offer a pleasing sacrifice to the Lord. We do not do this with the killing of an animal, but with a living sacrifice of thanks (Romans 12:1-2).
Suggestions for prayer
Thank God for baptism as a visible reminder of what He has done. Ask God to strengthen you so that your life is a pleasing sacrifice to Him.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
“Maay I huv shum juz, phleez?”
Translated, it means, “May I have some juice, please?” and it’s how I sounded for the nine days after my jaw joints were replaced in an eight-hour surgery and my jaw wired shut. I could move my lips, but unnaturally as large metal surgical braces were affixed to my teeth. During that period, my husband and I worked hard at reaching understanding. I scribbled notes on a pad, used my best charade skills and “shlurped” words through my teeth.
I realized very quickly that my communication needed to be simplified and I only attempted to convey the essentials. Bill worked hard at deciphering my strong impediment and sometimes we had to resign ourselves to “later” because I couldn’t find a way to say it differently and clearly.
I am so thankful the same is not true when communicating my needs to the Lord.
Thanks to the Holy Spirit who lives within me, my requests are brought to God. When I don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes with moans and groans on my behalf. He makes my needs known to the Father in those life-places where distress overwhelms and I can’t even form words. The Spirit assists me when I am at my weakest.
Do you know you have an advocate in the Holy Spirit?
Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you know my inmost being and longings and take my needs to the Father.
Thought: Quiet your heart and ask the Holy Spiritto direct how you pray, resting in the knowledge that He will.
Portland Residents Told Not To Call Police For Help Portland officials were proud of themselves in 2020 when they defunded the Police Bureau by $15 million instead of increasing it by $3 million as planned. One commissioner was even upset that the council didn’t remove more from the budget. “Please take a moment to celebrate this victory, and let it fuel your fire, because we’re not done,” Commissioner Chloe Eudaly said at the time. A year later, the council was trying to add funding and retain the city’s police officers.
Let’s Examine Some Real Crimes Committed By Presidents But there’s an entire class of people above the law. Or who at least act like they’re above the law—the political class. The hypocrisies of their effort to convict Trump and block him from holding office again reveal that the motivations are purely political—not born of some commitment to a higher moral or legal principle. George H. W. Bush launched a war on Iraq without congressional authorization. Obama conducted more illegal wars in Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Mali, and Yemen. In many of those wars, Obama expanded George W. Bush’s policy of giving support to al-Qaeda, which is treason according to Article 3, Section 3 of the Constitution. Trump is charged with mislabeling some business expenses.

US Bioweapons in Nigeria Endanger Africa and the Whole World Revelations about what Victoria Nuland ever so euphemistically called “biological research facilities” in Ukraine are usually tied to the start of Russia’s strategic counteroffensive against NATO aggression in Europe (SMO). However, the truth is that the United States has had a massive bioweapons program for well over half a century and that it has become unprecedentedly globalized in recent decades.
Just the Facts on ‘Geofencing,’ the Intrusive, App-Based ‘Dragnet’ That Sgt. Joe Friday Never Dreamed Of As worshippers gathered at the Calvary Chapel in 2020, they were being watched from above. Satellites were locking in on cell phones owned by members of the nondenominational Protestant church in San Jose, Calif. Their location eventually worked its way to a private company, which then sold the information to the government of Santa Clara County. This data, along with observations from enforcement officers on the ground, was used to levy heavy fines against the church for violating COVID-19 restrictions regarding public gatherings.

Human-Like A.I. Is Deceptive and Dangerous Tech companies are developing and deploying artificial intelligence (A.I.) systems that deceptively mimic human behavior to aggressively sell their products and services, dispense dubious medical and mental health advice, and trap people in psychologically dependent, potentially toxic relationships with machines, according to a new report from Public Citizen released today. A.I. that mimics human behavior poses a wide array of unprecedented risks that require immediate action from regulators as well as new laws and regulations, the report found.
Rogue banks are not waiting for the UK Energy Bill to be enacted to use it to deny us being able to buy or sell property The Telegraph published an article yesterday which described how banks will not be allowing mortgages on “energy inefficient” homes. The Telegraph also notes how this policy is despite Installed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak saying the public should not be burdened with the cost of “net zero.” The implication is that it is only the commercial lenders who are attempting to impose draconian “net zero” policies.

QUOTES Truth Bombs “If at least 218 House Republicans had managed to unite behind a continuing resolution, McCarthy would have had more leverage in this recently completed shutdown fight. Gaetz’s argument is circular; he and his allies refuse to cooperate with McCarthy, weakening the speaker in negotiations with the Senate and White House, and then they complain that McCarthy didn’t negotiate a better deal.” —Jim Geraghty “Matt Gaetz has pulled off what is probably the greatest dog-that-caught-the-car moment in American political history. Now comes the time when the dog has to concede he has no idea what to do next.” —Byron York “One of the least convincing claims by Gaetz’s defenders is that McCarthy was punished for ignoring the base. ‘The base,’ of course, is a popular euphemism for the most vociferous populist faction of the GOP. This faction enjoys blowing things up — mostly their own party’s prospects. In this case, the ‘base’ was represented by eight Republicans and the entire Democratic Party.” —David Harsanyi About the Wall “From day one, this Administration has made clear that a border wall is not the answer. That remains our position and our position has never wavered. The language in the Federal Register notice is being taken out of context and it does not signify any change in policy whatsoever.” —DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas The BIG Lies “We do not have one rule for Republicans and another rule for Democrats. We don’t have one rule for foes and another for friends. We don’t have one rule for the powerful and another for the powerless, for the rich or for the poor.” —Attorney General Merrick Garland “I don’t know why this has gotten so much attention. I was literally just in a rush to go vote, man. That’s all it was.” —Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) on pulling the fire alarm Demagogues “The thing that I have trouble trying to figure out is … other than protecting the Constitution, what is it that these MAGA Republicans think is extreme about what I’m doing.” —Joe Biden “I worry because I know that if the other team, the MAGA Republicans, win, they don’t want to uphold the rule of law.” —Joe Biden Lack of Self-Awareness Award “[Republicans] don’t have any evidence of any high crimes or misdemeanors committed by the president. They don’t even have any evidence of any low crimes or anything else. But they’re barreling ahead nonetheless to placate their crazies. Newsom’s appointment of Butler is equivalent to a Republican governor’s filling a Senate vacancy with the president of the NRA.” —John McCormack Belly Laugh of the Week “Historically … Democrats have always wanted to be the ones that say, ‘This is how we are supposed to conduct ourselves.'” —Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) For more insightful quotes, see our Short Cuts.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has warned that the United States will soon see about 10,000 illegal immigrants per day arrive at its border with Mexico.

Such a large number of illegal immigrants are reaching Mexico’s northern border with the United States partly due to abount 6,000 illegal immigrants crossing from Guatemala into Mexico every day for the past week, President Obrador said on Oct. 2, according to The Associated Press. The Mexican president criticized U.S. sanctions on nations such as Cuba and Venezuela, two nationalities that make up a significant portion of the illegal immigrant flow.
On Sept. 29, President Obrador called on the United States to “remove blockades and stop harassing independent and free countries.” There should be “an integrated plan for cooperation so the Venezuelans, Cubans, Nicaraguans, Ecuadorans, Guatemalans, and Hondurans wouldn’t be forced to emigrate,” he said.
He also criticized the United States’ use of funds to support Ukraine in its war against Russia and argued that some of the money sent to Ukraine should be spent on economic development in Latin America.
The Mexican president’s comments come as the country has done little to prevent migrants from getting onto trains headed to the U.S. border.
Moreover, Mexico currently runs a government program that sends buses for migrants in the southern region, transporting thousands of these people to its northern border with the United States.
In the city of Juchitán in Oaxaca state, Mexico, some migrants told Reuters that they were planning on entering the United States using the U.S. government’s CBP One app and then requesting asylum.
CBP One was launched in 2020. In January this year, the Biden administration announced new legal pathways for asylum seekers and other illegal immigrants through the app. Illegal immigrants can now schedule appointments at ports of entry or manned entry points at America’s border with Mexico through CBP One.
According to data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there were 232,972 encounters with illegal immigrants at the southwest land border in August, up from 183,494 in July.
Overall, 2.2 million illegal immigrant encounters have been recorded for fiscal year 2023 until August, on pace to meet or exceed the 2.37 million encounters in fiscal year 2022. In the 2021 fiscal year, the number of encounters was lower at 1.73 million. And in fiscal year 2020, there were only 458,088 encounters.
Illegal Influx Into America
The influx of illegal immigrants has alarmed officials in U.S. border communities. Late last month, the Democrat Mayor of El Paso, Texas, said that the illegal aliens were straining the region’s resources.
“The city of El Paso only has so many resources, and we have come to … a breaking point right now,” El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said during a news conference, according to Reuters. More than 2,000 people were seeking asylum every day in El Paso.

In a Sept. 21 post on X, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott denounced the Biden administration for the migrant crisis facing the United States.
“I officially declared an invasion at our border because of Biden’s policies. We deployed the Texas National Guard, DPS [and] local law enforcement. We are building a border wall, razor wire [and] marine barriers. We are also repelling migrants,” he said.
In a recent interview with MSNBC, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) claimed that the government isn’t deporting enough illegal immigrants who are entering the country and pushed for adopting a stronger stance on the issue against countries such as Mexico.
“Let’s say we get 10,000 people a day, we’re deporting about 1,000 a day. So, you can see the numbers don’t add up there,” he said. “You’ve got to have repercussions at the border, you’ve got to have the other countries, Mexico and the other countries, do more.
“This is very important, 2015, 2019, [illegal immigrant] numbers went down; why? Under Obama and under Trump, why? Because we were able to get the Mexicans to do a lot more and stop them at the southern border with Guatemala. And that’s what history shows. Play defense on their 20-yard line and have real repercussions, and I mean deport people. Otherwise, they’re going to keep coming to the [United States].”
It’s not just at the Mexican border that the United States is facing an influx of illegal immigrants. The situation is getting worse at the northern border with Canada as well.
In the northeastern Swanton Sector, illegal immigrant apprehensions this year alone have exceeded the total of the past decade.
“Over 6,100 apprehensions from 76 different countries in just 11 months, surpassing the last 10 years combined,” Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia said in a Sept. 6 post on X.
“Swanton Sector Agents are resolute and determined to hold the line across our 295 miles of border in northeastern New York, Vermont, [and] New Hampshire.”
In fiscal year 2022, Swanton Sector saw 1,000 apprehensions, up from 365 in fiscal year 2021.
Welcome to G3 Weekly—a summary of this week’s top news stories on Christianity and the public square.
This week, megachurch pastor Andy Stanley held a conference seeking to provide room for homosexuality and transgenderism. New York City announced a new on-demand abortion service controlled by the government. Meanwhile, a couple in the United Kingdom are fighting attempts from the state healthcare service to have their baby removed from life support.
Andy Stanley Hosts “Affirming” Conference
“Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them” (Romans 1:32).
Andy Stanley, the pastor of North Point Community Church in Atlanta, Georgia, held a conference last week designed to endorse homosexuality and transgenderism.
Various speakers at the conference presented cases for the biblical permissibility of homosexuality and hosted a panel about raising children who see themselves as members of the opposite sex. Stanley reportedly said that “biblical marriage is between a man and a woman,” but added that some individuals in his church are in so-called same-sex marriages, reminding his congregants that the lifestyle choice is ultimately “their decision.”
“Our decision is to decide how we respond to their decision,” he said. “Our decision as a group of local churches is how we are going to respond to their decision. And we decided twenty-eight years ago, we draw circles; we don’t draw lines, we draw big circles.”
Several prominent evangelical ministers warned that Stanley was departing from the historic faith by excusing unnatural sexual sin. “Jesus came to save sinners, and thus we are saved. But Jesus never drew circles that ignored the reality of sin,” Albert Mohler, the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, wrote in one opinion piece about the sermon. “Christ also drew lines with clarity, such as the line separating the sheep from the goats.”
New York City Offers Government-Run Telehealth Abortion System
“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan” (Proverbs 29:2).
New York City launched the first public health program in the nation that will provide “telehealth abortion access” for residents desiring to murder their children.
Residents can request and receive abortion pills in the mail “within a few days” provided they are in New York City during a telehealth appointment and during the time they plan to take the pills. The majority of abortions in the United States occur through so-called medication abortions, in which a mother takes a series of two pills to respectively cause the death of her child and the induction of a premature delivery, according to data from the Guttmacher Institute.
“Here in New York City, we will not allow the far right to continue its crusade to strip women of their reproductive rights,” New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams remarked in a press release. “Telehealth abortion care allows the people in our lives to make the choices they need privately and safely, so that they can decide what is best for them and their futures. This is about protecting the ability for women to control their own bodies, their choices, and their freedoms.”
British Parents Fight State Healthcare Service to Save Their Child
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Psalm 127:3).
The parents of Indi Gregory, a seven-month-old baby girl receiving critical care in the United Kingdom, will face a hearing in the British High Court to prevent the nation’s public healthcare system from removing the child’s life support.
Indi is currently receiving treatment for a rare mitochondrial disease at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, which is run by the National Health Service. Her parents were told by doctors that her “best interest” would be to no longer receive care, even though she responds to touch and has a happy disposition, according to a press release from Christian Concern. Her parents, Claire Staniforth and Dean Gregory, were told abruptly that they would have forty-eight hours to prepare for a legal hearing that would determine the fate of their child.
“We know she will never be the same as other children, because she has disabilities, but it breaks our hearts to think that doctors don’t want to give her that chance at life,” her father said in the release. “They are saying she should get palliative care only. She is disabled but that does not mean she does not have a good quality of life.”
State healthcare systems in secularized Western nations have been criticized in recent years for offering medically assisted suicide and seeking to remove critical care in difficult cases.`
But there’s an entire class of people above the law. Or who at least act like they’re above the law—the political class. The hypocrisies of their effort to convict Trump and block him from holding office again reveal that the motivations are purely political—not born of some commitment to a higher moral or legal principle.
Two broad schools of thought make up Western legal philosophy. They are natural law theory and legal positivism. Natural law theory says that law exists regardless of the dictates of states. That justice is derived from nature and common to all humans. Simply put, natural law theorists argue that a crime is a crime regardless of what the state says. That makes killing another human with malice aforethought murder, for example, even when it’s done with the blessings of government officials.
Many libertarians, such as Murray Rothbard, ground their moral opposition to state power in appeals to natural law. There is no special status that someone can attain that allows them to commit crimes.
The idea that nobody, not even the president, is above the law is right in line with this view. But, taken to its logical Rothbardian conclusion, equality under the law is a denial of political authority. So, it’s bizarre to hear the political class use this slogan as a rallying cry when all their wealth, power, and status is built on political privilege. And they can’t rightfully go after Trump for how he used his political authority because that’s not unique to Trump.
The political class prefers legal positivism, which separates law from morality. According to legal positivists, law is what the sovereign political authority says it is. There may be just laws and unjust laws. But they are all valid laws in this view. Legal positivism enshrines the political class’s privileged legal status above the rest of us.
Therefore, the way to get Trump is not to show he did anything immoral or wrong but to prove he technically broke some rule made up by members of an earlier political class. That way he can be driven out of public life without threatening the regime’s authority. But the problem hasn’t been finding crimes committed by Trump but finding crimes unique to Trump. Because all recent presidents have broken the law.
President George H. W. Bush launched a war on Iraq without congressional authorization. That is illegal according to Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution, the set of rules Bush swore an oath to uphold. President Bill Clinton did the same, overseeing illegal military operations in Somalia, Serbia, and Iraq.
Combined, these illegal wars have killed millions of people. They are appalling crimes of which Trump is also guilty. His administration continued the wars in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Yemen despite his running on a more isolationist foreign policy. Yet he’s not being charged for any of that. The crimes he’s facing charges for are far less serious, but they are more unique to Trump.
In New York, Trump is charged with mislabeling some business expenses during the 2016 election. In Georgia, he’s charged with conspiring to overturn an election prosecutors claim he knew he’d lost. Federally, he’s charged with claiming to have won an election he allegedly knew he’d lost, which prosecutors say incited the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He’s also charged with keeping classified documents after leaving office and conducting a “scheme to conceal” them from the federal government.
By refusing to bring charges against Trump that could also be brought against the presidents they like, the political class has shown that its aims are political. If they were committed to the rules that they swore an oath to uphold, they’d have to indict many of their own. And if they genuinely believed that nobody exists above the law, they’d have to give up a whole lot more.
The number of people Worldwide departing from Religion has now reached alarming rates ( OPINION ) According to Axios , There’s a global, fast-growing population of people without a religion. That’s according to a new AP-NORC Poll.
Religion has long been a powerful force in society, touching politics, art and daily life. The rise of nonbelievers and people with no religious affiliation is diminishing its influence.
By the numbers: 3 in 10 U.S. adults said they had no religious affiliation. About half of them identify as atheist or agnostic, and the other half say their religion is “nothing in particular.”
The shift away from religion is even starker among younger adults, with 43% of 18- to 29-year-old Americans responding “none,” when asked which religion they follow. But fewer than 20% of U.S. adults over 60 are “nones.” The trend is gaining momentum across the world, AP reports from several countries:In Japan, 70% of […]
President Joe Biden did not have a great week. The 80-year-old president’s brain appeared to stop working during a press conference, causing his whole body to freeze like a statue.
For the second week in a row, Biden forgot the name of the COVID-19 virus. He also bungled the name of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) and profusely struggled to read the name of a government website off his teleprompter.
Losing My Diversity
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is concerned. They set goals for diversity among their delegates to include a specific ratio of people of color, LGBT folk, etc. to white people … and they can’t meet their own numbers. It appears that in all minority categories that wish to support their cause are decreasing. They think this might indicate a problem. Do ya think?
How Good Are These Cakes??!!
Jack Phillips is the baker in Denver that keeps refusing to violate his religious beliefs (that scoundrel) and hangs, perhaps foolishly, on the 1st Amendment. So he’s now facing his thirdlawsuit, this time for refusing to bake a cake for a gender transition. Now, if we don’t like a particular vendor for some reason, we normally avoid said vendor, but all the L’s and G’s and T’s keep going back. So … how good are these cakes?? I mean, it can’t be because they’re specifically and maliciously targeting Jack and his religion, can it? (I wonder what would happen if he just made the thing and did it badly — a statement about what he thinks of it? Would that be another lawsuit?)
It’s all fun and games until …
Well, the Bee was messing around again with humor, so back on October 2 they put up the story about California Governor Newsom throwing darts at a board covered with black lesbians to select the Feinstein’s replacement … and real news intrudes on October 3 when they swore in a black lesbian to replace Feinstein. Too close to be satire?
Baffled by Rising Prices
Have you been wondering why our gas prices keep rising? Biden’s Department of the Interior has published gas lease sales for the next 5 years. They have approved three, the lowest number ever. By carefully eliminating sources (“supply”) without adjusting demand, the only possibility is skyrocketing prices. So we thank our Democratic overlords for their benevolence with our pocketbooks.
For The Fun Of It
We just drove through the town of Banning, California, and I thought, “What a great place to open a bookstore! I’d call it ‘Banning Books.'” An automatic winner, right?
Congressman Bowman “accidentally” pulled the fire alarm in the Capitol building while lawmakers argued to avert a shutdown. Democrats have proposed a $12 billion study to determine what this strange red handle thing does.
By the way, in response to that Bee story about him throwing darts at a dart board, Governor Newsom, assured us that she was the most qualified of the 0.00001% of the population he chose from. And you thought there was some agenda there. Doubter.
