C.H. Spurgeon: ‘Godly Stability’

‘And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brazen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD’
— Jeremiah 15:20

Stability in the fear and faith of God will make a man like a wall of brass, which no one can batter down or break. Only the LORD can make such; but we need such men in the church, and in the world, but specially in the pulpit. Against uncompromising men of truth this age of shams will fight tooth and nail. Nothing seems to offend Satan and his seed like decision. They attack holy firmness even as the Assyrians besieged fenced cities. The joy is that they cannot prevail against those whom God has made strong in His strength. Carried about with every wind of doctrine, others only need to be blown upon and away they go; but those who love the doctrines of grace, because they possess the grace of the doctrines, stand like rocks in the midst of raging seas. Whence this stability? “I am with thee, saith the LORD”: that is the true answer. Jehovah will save and deliver faithful souls from all the assaults of the adversary. Hosts are against us, but the LORD of hosts is with us. We dare not budge an inch; for the LORD Himself holds us in our place, and there we will abide forever.

Covered and Protected | VCY

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.Psalm 91:4

A condescending simile indeed! Just as a hen protects her brood and allows them to nestle under her wings, so will the Lord defend His people and permit them to hide away in Him. Have we not seen the little chicks peeping out from under the mother’s feathers? Have we not heard their little cry of contented joy? In this way let us shelter ourselves in our God and feel overflowing peace in knowing that He is guarding us.

While the Lord covers us, we trust. It would be strange if we did not. How can we distrust when Jehovah Himself becomes house and home, refuge and rest to us?

This done, we go out to war in His name and enjoy the same guardian care. We need shield and buckler, and when we implicitly trust God, even as the chick trusts the hen, we find His truth arming us from head to foot. The Lord cannot lie; He must be faithful to His people; His promise must stand. This sure truth is all the shield we need. Behind it we defy the fiery darts of the enemy.

Come, my soul, hide under those great wings, lose thyself among those soft feathers! How happy thou art!

A New Deal | Daily Thoughts about God.

“The days are coming”, declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors.” Hebrews 8:8-9

Do you remember the film Monsters, Inc? In one scene, Mike Wazowski arrives at work and bumps into Roz, his boss. Roz chides him for not turning in his assignment and tells him she is watching him closely from now on in case he slips up again.

Have you ever felt like Mike Wazowski in your walk with God? Do you feel like God is sitting in heaven with his with arms crossed, waiting for you to mess up?

The children of Israel likely felt so. The original deal God made with them was a contract: If you obey my laws, then I will prosper you. Eat this, avoid that. Work now, rest later. Sacrifice a goat, and then I will forgive you.

In time, the number of laws grew from the original Ten Commandments to over six hundred! And while God’s intentions were honest — he wanted them to realize their need for him, and to enjoy a holy life — nobody could jump that high or possibly keep every single one.

So God made a new plan, a new covenant. God sent Jesus to live and die for us, and provided his Spirit to bring light and bear fruit within us — putting his law of love in our hearts and minds.

So instead of God waiting for you to mess up, and we all mess up, he provided a way to forgive the mistakes and a Helper to guide your heart and mind to do better.

*Dear God, thank you for your new covenant, one that is “not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:6). May I rest in your grace to know that I need not ‘jump higher’ through hoops, but only trust in Jesus’ name. Amen.

It is always best to confess as soon after we mess up as possible. Today, will you do that with God, and if your goof affected someone else, with them?

The Great Divide | Daily Thoughts about God.

“Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’?     Matthew 9:5

Jesus asked this question of the religious leaders who were outraged that He would say to the paralyzed man his sins were forgiven.

These “spiritual” gurus had watched Jesus grow from a little boy into a man.  To them he was a snot-nosed, skinned-up-knees boy, born from a mother who had cheated on her husband and now was as an adult claiming to be God!  How dare this kid from Nazareth say, “Your sins are forgiven!”  In the words of Vizzini from Princess Bride, “Inconceivable!

It was a simple question, with a simple answer but one they refused to acknowledge.  The religious leaders rejection of Jesus’ authority, created a chasm in their hearts between who Jesus was and who they wanted Him to be.

And we are not much different than they, if we’re willing to admit it.  Often, the divide is long and wide between who Jesus really is and who we want Him to be.

We want the love of Jesus, not His justice.  We want a comfortable Jesus, not one who pushes us into the unknown.  We want to trust God with our eternal destination, but refuse to allow His “interference” in our everyday living.

The simple fact remains, Jesus is God; able to heal the sick and forgive sins.  True followers of Jesus refuse to let their own desires define Him and allow Him to be the Jesus He is!

Lord, I confess my propensity to create You in my own image, rather than allowing You to be the God You are.  Open my eyes to Your truth, teach me Your ways and help me to follow You with a pure heart.  Amen.

Blinken, Austin: We’re Ready for War In the Middle East
Shortly after the terror attacks of October 7, the United States’ position initially appeared to be very clear. This was Israel’s war to fight and we would provide material and vocal support, but allow them to handle it as they saw fit. By this past weekend, the situation had shifted noticeably, with threats of escalation showing up to the north of Israel from Hezbollah and rocket attacks on American posts in various places, including Iraq. And now both the Secretary of State and the Defense Secretary are clearly preparing the country for the possibility that the entire situation may blow up and our military is “ready” to go to war if we must.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has it sights on Israel, posing ‘immense problems’
“It is now imminent that Hezbollah will open up a second front in northern Lebanon,” she tells AFN. “They’ve already started gearing up and preparing for that.” According to Gabriel, Hezbollah maintains weapon depots beneath hospitals and schools. “[Also] many of the homes that were built in southern Lebanon [in Shi’ite towns] since 2006 have rooms with retractable ceilings where Hezbollah can launch rockets from within these rooms into Israel because Hezbollah controls the majority of southern Lebanon,” she adds.

The Israel-Hamas War Is Already Pushing The Great Reset Agenda
A few days ago we published an article discussing how the Great Reset agenda is still moving forward behind the scenes, while the headlines are full of Israel-Palestine. But it’s also true that, in its thirteen days of existence, the war itself has already pushed that agenda forward as well.

Macron to visit Israel on Tuesday, will hold talks with Netanyahu
Emmanuel Macron will visit Tel Aviv on Tuesday for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his office announced. His visit comes more than two weeks after Palestinian terrorists stormed into Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7 and killed at least 1,400 people,

Escalation in Middle East Conflict Raises Fears of World War, U.S. Troops at Risk
The United States, in collaboration with its allies, has expressed growing concern about the potential for an escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Middle East, which could pose a significant threat to U.S. troops. This mounting tension underscores the ever-present risk of a broader conflict that could have worldwide implications,

Biden Admin Officials Terrified of Massive Military Escalation: ‘It Could All Veer Off the Rails’
As threats and bombs pile up in the Middle East, the Biden administration is feeling queasy about being drawn into a Middle East war. If Hezbollah escalates its involvement Israel’s economy minister, Nir Barkat said it would “eliminate Hezbollah” but not stop there, according to the U.K. Daily Mail. “The plan of Iran is to attack Israel on all fronts. If we find they intend to target Israel, we will not just retaliate to those fronts, but we will go to the head of the snake, which is Iran,” he said.

USS Carney Shot Down More Missiles, Drones Over Longer Period
The engagement of Houthi cruise missiles and drones by the Arleigh-Burke class destroyer USS Carney on Thursday in the Red Sea took place for far longer than initially reported, with more targets destroyed than first indicated. You can read our initial reporting on the incident here. The Carney shot down four land attack cruise missiles and 19 drones, a U.S. official told The War Zone Friday. Ukraine Situation Report: Multiple Russian Attacks On Avdiivka Repulsed
Fighting continues to rage around the eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka, where Russia launched a bloody new offensive earlier this month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the situation in Avdiivka and the nearby town of Maryinka was “particularly tough.” However, multiple accounts so far suggest that Russia has suffered heavy losses in terms of manpower and equipment, without making significant gains.

Watch: Pro-Palestinian Mob Shuts Down Minneapolis Street, Terrorizes Motorists
If you were wondering why the pro-Palestinian protests in the US today are starting to look a lot like the BLM riots of 2020, it’s probably because they are made up of the same people with the same political agenda. Minnesota has one of the most concentrated Muslim populations in the US, but it is also a well-known Democrat stronghold. Palestinian protests across the country are predominantly manned by far-left groups like Antifa seeking to attach themselves to minority issues as an excuse to wreak havoc.

UN Security Council Resolution 2231 Banning Missile Transfers To Iran Expires
With the eyes of the world transfixed upon the UN Security Council’s vote on whether or not to seek a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a less heralded event coming out of the council may prove to be even more consequential should that conflict widen. October 18th marked the expiration of UN Security Council Resolution 2231. The resolution was passed in 2015 as part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action more commonly known as the Iran Nuclear Deal. One core component of the provisions  set forth by the resolution was the prohibition of transferring missiles, drones, and adjacent weapons technologies to and from Iran. With the resolution’s expiration, Iran is now free to send and receive those arms.

Fighting Has Erupted On Multiple Fronts As Israel Braces For A War Of National Survival
It is becoming clear that Israel is going to have to battle enemies on multiple fronts, and that means that this war is going to look a whole lot different than a lot of people thought that it would.  If the fighting could have been confined to just Israel and Hamas, there still would have been a lot of death and destruction, but everyone knows that Hamas is no match for the IDF.

Expansion of Canadian “assisted suicide” programme is an excuse to murder infants for profit
There are times when doctors promote ideologies that make us want to throw up, literally.  The suggestions made are so diabolical that any sane and rational-thinking person would not be able to dream up such atrocities.  One such suggestion came from Canadian doctor Louis Roy who suggested that Medical Assistance in Dying (“MAiD”) could be used to end the lives of infants.

“You Can Now Sue the mRNA COVID Vaccine Manufacturers For Damages,” says Steve Kirsch
A cancer-promoting genetic sequence—SV40 was found in mRNA vaccine vials in April 2023. It is doubtful that there was disclosure of the SV40 contamination within the Pfizer documents received by the FDA. This means that the mRNA COVID vaccines are adulterated and the manufacturers can now be sued for damages and the FDA is required to take the COVID vaccines off the market until the adulteration is fixed,” according to Steve Kirsch,

FEATURED ANALYSIS

The Scapegoating of Derek Chauvin

George Floyd may have been the perfect “victim” for the riots that followed his death, but the trial of Officer Chauvin was anything but just.

Douglas Andrews

“What happens when the actual evidence doesn’t match up with the public narrative that everyone’s already decided on?”

That’s a good question under any circumstances, but it’s an especially good one when it concerns the fate of a man who’s been sentenced to prison for the next couple of decades, a man who might not live that long anyway if the prison guards can’t protect him from a fellow inmate eager to make a name for himself.

We’re speaking of Derek Chauvin, the once-unknown and now-infamous former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted in 2021 of a weird combination of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in the death of a non-compliant six-foot, six-inch career criminal and drug addict named George Floyd.

Shortly after Floyd’s death, we wondered whether he was a worthy martyr. We decided not. Yet his funeral capped a full six days of mourning in three cities, and his golden casket was taken by hearse and transferred to a glass-sided carriage, which was drawn to the cemetery by a pair of white horses.

As for Officer Chauvin, he didn’t merit such royal treatment. After all, his knee-on-the-neck treatment of Floyd set off a year-long orgy of burning, looting, and wanton destruction, the wrecking of race relations and the shaking-down of corporate America by a small band of money-grubbing Marxists, and the surging of violent crime and murder all across our nation’s urban centers due to the Left’s war on cops.

The resulting “permissiveness” for shoplifting within our nation’s big-city Democrat strongholds has also taken its toll — not only in closed department stores but also in shuttered drug stores. This instance of “reparations by other means” has, in turn, created “pharmacy deserts” for millions of inner-city blacks. Talk about your unintended consequences.

If you wondered whether Chauvin could possibly get a fair trial in that hyper-charged environment, you weren’t alone. As our Nate Jackson wrote at the time of his conviction, “It’s understandable that the former Minneapolis police officer was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter, but it also reeks of political pressure and mob rule that the jurors so quickly convicted him on the more serious but questionable charges of third-degree murder and even second-degree murder.”

And now we’re learning that Derek might’ve been railroaded.

The cross-examination of chief medical examiner Andrew Baker by Chauvin’s lawyer told us as much, but no one bothered to give it the attention it deserved — not with justice just waiting there to be served upon the killer cop. As columnist Matt Walsh recounts:

Over the course of more than an hour, Chauvin’s lawyer got Baker to admit a series of facts that, taken together, undermined the prosecution’s entire theory of the case. For one thing, Baker admitted that just days after Floyd’s death, he told prosecutors that Floyd had a lethal level of fentanyl in his system under normal circumstances. Baker also acknowledged that Floyd had a severely enlarged heart, and that the autopsy showed no physical signs of neck injury or strangulation. The medical examiner went on to admit that, if Floyd had been found alone in an apartment building, his death would be certified as an overdose without a second thought. …

The entire narrative surrounding the death of George Floyd, up to this point, was that Chauvin’s knee blocked Floyd’s airway. That was supposedly why he ran out of oxygen and stopped breathing. Now, an expert witness — a prosecution witness, for that matter — was admitting under oath that Chauvin’s knee was not affecting Floyd’s airway at all.

Only now, thanks to a separate lawsuit filed by a former Minneapolis prosecutor named Amy Sweasy, is Baker’s testimony being revisited. As Minnesota-based Alpha News reported recently, and as Tucker Carlson reported on his X-cast this past Friday, Sweasy claims that Baker told her that there were “no medical indications of asphyxia or strangulation” in George Floyd’s death. According to Sweasy: “He called me later in the day on that Tuesday, and he told me that there were no medical findings that showed any injury to the vital structures of Mr. Floyd’s neck. There were no medical indications of asphyxia or strangulation.”

Let that sink in. And now consider Derek Chauvin’s 22.5-year sentence.

As Alpha News reports: “Chauvin’s new legal team has filed a petition asking the nation’s highest court to hear his case. The official U.S. Supreme Court filing comes after the Minnesota Supreme Court declined to hear the case in July. The 47-page petition points to a heavily fortified Hennepin County Courthouse during Chauvin’s trial, violent threats, jury intimidation, and a local press that ‘glorified Mr. Floyd’ as reasons the country’s top court should grant him a new trial.

William Mohrman, Chauvin’s attorney, acknowledges that the odds of the Supreme Court picking up the Chauvin case are long, given that it hears only 100 or so appeals of the 7,000 cases it’s asked to review each year.

Still, as Mohrman told Alpha News: “Specifically, we argued the Minnesota Courts violated Mr. Chauvin’s right to a fair trial under the Sixth Amendment by refusing to transfer his trial to a location in Minnesota which was not affected by the George Floyd riots. … If the jurors acquitted Mr. Chauvin, they would have been bracing for a resumption of riots in their own community and possible threats to their own personal safety — which virtually all the jurors expressed when questioned by the attorneys prior to trial.”

It’s been more than three years since all of us were transfixed by the video footage of the white cop with his knee on the black guy’s neck for that interminable length of time.

The question we asked at the outset — what happens when the actual evidence doesn’t match up with the public narrative? — was asked privately by medical examiner Andrew Baker. But it demands a public hearing.

Obsessing Over ‘Islamophobia’

Joe Biden and his team aren’t nearly as worried about rising anti-Semitism as they are about the response to it.

Nate Jackson

Hate is not necessarily a bad thing. God hates sin. Good people hate atrocities — and fight back against them. But “hate speech” and “hate crimes” have become overly broad categories that Democrats use to silence conservatives and divide people by Marxist oppressor/oppressed categories. We hate that too.

That’s not to say that there aren’t real hate crimes or hate speech. When Hamas, backed by Iran, attacked Israel and slaughtered innocent people, including even beheading babies and live-streaming the attacks on the social media feeds of the victims, that was fueled by hate. Hamas exists at least in part to annihilate the Jews because Islamic jihadists utterly hate the Jews.

So why do Joe Biden and his mouthpiece, Karine Jean-Pierre, seem so obsessed with the deliberately politicized term “Islamophobia”?

Whoever handles Biden’s X-Twitter account pushed out this bilge yesterday: “As Americans, we must come together and reject Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and hatred. I have said repeatedly that I will not be silent in the face of hate. We must be unequivocal: There is no place in America for hate against anyone.”

Unless the targets are “MAGA Republicans.” Then Biden suddenly becomes the poster child of hate, and his pal Hillary Clinton can talk about “deprogramming” members of that “cult.”

Or unless the subjects of hate are Jews, if you listen to a lot of leftist college loudmouths or Democrat haters in Congress.

As we mentioned above, Jean-Pierre was little better when asked specifically about Biden’s “level of concern” regarding the alarming rise in anti-Semitism around the nation. Evidently, the reporter should have provided the dictionary definition of anti-Semitism, which Merriam-Webster defines as “hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group.”

KJP answered by flipping around in her binder and rambling about … Islamophobia. “But, look,” she said, “Muslim[s] and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks.” The president, she insisted, is working very hard to stop that.

Again, she was asked about anti-Semitism, though maybe she accidentally flipped to the page written by Hamas propagandists. At least she didn’t condemn Israel’s supposed hospital attack.

Citing FBI statistics, the Manhattan Institute’s Charles Fain Lehman responded: “Jews are the second most frequently targeted group for hate crimes in the United States. Muslims are #15.” He added: “It’s of course very bad for either group to be targeted. But there are about 2x as many Jews as Muslims, yet 7x as many attacks.”

It’s worse when given the broader context of recent events. As National Review’s Philip Klein notes, “Just over two weeks removed from the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust, with antisemitic incidents on the rise on college campuses and U.S. cities, with synagogues and Jewish schools closing in response to terrorist threats, that the White House has to deflect questions about antisemitism by focusing on threats to Muslims is simply sick.”

Indeed, you could say we hate such moral equivalence and equivocation.

Eventually, Jean-Pierre noted that Biden campaigned for president on a theme of “bringing people together” and “protecting the soul of the nation.” Doing so requires standing up for justice without preference. It requires condemning violence generally as well as that motivated by hate.

Yet President Unity has done anything but. He elevates only certain victim groups so he can score political points. He foments division, which leads to violence. And on the world stage, his weakness has provoked conflicts in Europe and now the Middle East. It’s high time he was replaced with someone who can do a good job.

Executive News Summary

Chevron’s big oil move, NYT backtracks on Gaza hospital false claim, NewsGuard sued, and more.

Thomas Gallatin & Jordan Candler

Cross-Examination

  • Chevron’s big oil move: Big Oil isn’t buying into the green energy narrative of the future being all electric, powered entirely by renewables. Fossil fuels are still the most practical and rational option for powering economies of the world, and energy companies know this. This explains Chevron’s move on Monday to acquire Hess Corp. for $53 billion. This will increase Chevron’s assets in the Gulf of Mexico and North Dakota, but buying Hess also gives Chevron a 30% share in an area off the coast of Guyana, which is estimated to hold 11 billion barrels of oil and gas. Chevron’s move comes after ExxonMobil’s move last month to combine with Pioneer National Resources. Despite all the green government subsides meant to entice energy companies to develop more renewables, companies like BP and Shell are actually cutting back on wind and solar investments and pouring capital into fossil fuels because the returns are still higher and more sustainable.
  • NYT backtracks on Gaza hospital false claim: Last week, The New York Times ran a story on its front page with the provocative headline, “Israeli Strike Kills Hundreds in Hospital, Palestinians Say.” That story (and others like it) went on to claim that 500 people had been killed by the attack and included a picture of a destroyed building. Israel was quick to deny the claim. The original story failed to cite that those making the dubious claims of Israel being responsible were Hamas officials. As more information came to light, including the fact that the image of the destroyed building the Times posted was not the Al-Ahli Hospital and that sources of the claim were actually Hamas, the Times has walked back its initial claim. Now the Times is reporting that it “relied too heavily on claims by Hamas” and acknowledges that “the report left readers with an incorrect impression about what was known and how credible the account was.” You don’t say.
  • Qatar’s complicity in terrorism: Not only does the Middle Eastern nation of Qatar supply luxury housing for Hamas leadership, but the oil-rich country’s monarchy is also actively supporting the terror organization by seeking to give it international legitimacy. This effort at worldwide legitimacy comes via the Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network, whose cable channel reaches some 350 million households in 150 countries. Al Jazeera’s message has been intentionally shrouded from Western audiences, but it demonizes Israel while running favorable propaganda regarding Hamas and the Palestinian cause. Remember that anytime the Biden administration points to Qatar as helping do anything.
  • China steals more info than all other countries combined: China is infamous for its history of intellectual property theft. But it has proved difficult to quantify Beijing’s pilfering. What has been known is that China’s stealing has worsened. Recently, the heads of five Western intelligence agencies known as the “Five Eyes” were interviewed by CBS News’s “60 Minutes.” Included among the five were FBI Director Christopher Wray and the United Kingdom’s MI5 Director Ken McCallum. Wray observed that China presents the number one “threat of this generation.” Beijing’s massive stealing apparatus is occurring with “everything from Fortune 100 companies, all to smaller startups,” he noted. “We’re talking about agriculture, biotech, healthcare, robotics, aviation, academic research. We probably have somewhere in the order of 2,000 active investigations that are just related to the Chinese government’s effort to steal information.” While the five observed that all countries engage in espionage to some degree, China has taken it to a whole new level. Wray asserted that China has the biggest hacking program in the world — “bigger than every other major nation combined.” And China has “stolen more of our personal and corporate data than every nation, big or small, combined.” That’s a lot of stealing.
  • UAW expands strike: In its efforts to press for more concessions from the Big Three automakers, on Monday the United Auto Workers expanded its strike that has lasted over a month. The latest workers to walk off the job are from the Stellantis assembly plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Roughly 6,800 workers are now striking at that plant, which produces the company’s best-selling vehicle, Ram 1500 trucks. UAW claims that of the Big Three, Stellantis has presented the worst offer in the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations. Thus far across the Big Three, 40,000 workers are now striking, making up 26% of the three companies’ workforce.
  • NewsGuard sued: On Monday, the Consortium of Independent Journalism filed a lawsuit against the federal government and NewsGuard, the self-appointed arbiter of “trustworthy” news media organizations. Consortium News alleges that the U.S. government has conspired with NewsGuard in order to defame non-legacy news outlets and in so doing is in violation of the First Amendment. The suit says that NewsGuard and the government “are engaged in a pattern and practice of labelling, stigmatizing and defaming American media organizations that oppose or dissent from American foreign and defense policy, particularly as to Russia and Ukraine.” We in are humble shop can attest to NewsGuards’s underhanded and disingenuous rating system that is designed not to ensure factual accuracy in what is reported but to be used as a mechanism to downgrade and ultimately silence news outlets whose viewpoints it doesn’t like. Viewpoint discrimination is actually what NewsGuard engages in, not news reporting accuracy.

America’s Top National Security Threat Is Our Runaway Debt

The most important geopolitical power today is economic and technological superiority.

Stephen Moore

After spending $6 trillion on social welfare and a Green New Deal spending spree and running our national debt up to $33 trillion, President Joe Biden is asking to whip out the federal credit card yet again for $100 billion more in military assistance for Ukraine and Israel and “humanitarian” aid.

Yes, it certainly is a dangerous world, and more so every day. But Biden has a lot of nerve proclaiming that he’s 100% committed to the defense of Ukraine and Israel when his own policies have contributed directly to the hostilities.

The most impactful way to repel our enemies — China, Russia, Middle East terrorists — is to defund them by producing every ounce of oil, gas and coal here at home. Biden’s war on American energy has cost the U.S. economy more than $200 billion in lost domestic energy output from the Trump pro-drilling trend. At least $40 billion of that has gone to the Iranians. You can buy a lot of rockets with that kind of money.

Meanwhile, the Russian war machine is almost entirely funded with petrodollars. They love that the heart of the Biden climate policy is to produce 3 million barrels a day less than we could and should be.

Biden misses a larger point about our national security. Right now, our debt is the nation’s most urgent, clear and present danger — not just to our economic prosperity but to our national security. Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump believed rightly that when America is strong at home with an economy firing on all cylinders, we are strong, respected and feared abroad.

It’s painful to say, but right now, America is far weaker militarily and economically than we were four years ago. The most important geopolitical power today is economic and technological superiority.

You don’t achieve and retain that status by becoming the world’s premier debtor nation.

Americans are starting to feel in the pocketbook the corrosive effect of a hemorrhaging $6 trillion budget. Everything we buy is 17% more expensive as the government effectively prints and borrows money to pay its bills. Mortgage rates are surging, with a 30-year mortgage interest rate at 8%, up from 3% when since Trump left office.

This means that on an average-priced house with a 30-year mortgage, buyers will pay $1,500 a month more in payments. This will put homeownership out of reach for millions of Americans.

Then, there is the impact of skyrocketing federal interest payments on the debt. This year, for the first time, federal interest expenses exceed our entire national defense budget. With lower interest rate debt now turning over every day and having to be refinanced by issuing 5% and 6% Treasury bills, we’re facing a death spiral of red ink.

Borrowing more money now would make all these problems much worse and make America less of a superpower going forward. Republicans should be insisting on three conditions for any more debt spending packages.

First, it has to be much smaller — cut at least by half — than $100 billion. This isn’t Monopoly money we are talking about.

Second, any release of new funds must be accompanied by a pro-drilling strategy here at home to divert money away from our enemies.

And third, every penny must be paid for dollar-for-dollar with other spending cuts. This isn’t a heavy lift. We simply slash the $380 billion green energy slush fund and other wasteful programs.

If Biden and Congress don’t believe they can find and eliminate tens of billions of dollars of waste in the federal budget (about 1% of total spending), this is prima facie evidence that we need a new president and a new Congress.

Do We Really Need DEI?

A comprehensive new study shows that focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion harms precisely the students it’s meant to help.

Michael Swartz

We as a nation were already alarmed at how badly our school-age students fell behind thanks to ill-advised school closures during the pandemic. But a large-scale analysis of academic test scores by The Heritage Foundation found a significant trend in the reams of data: Test scores for minorities at schools that had embraced the leftist concept of diversity, equity, and inclusion fared even worse than the depressing normal.

As Jay P. Greene and Madison Marino of Heritage observed: “School districts create chief diversity officers or similar-sounding positions ostensibly to close racial achievement gaps by advocating for minority students and their particular needs. In practice, these bureaucrats enforce ideological orthodoxies on matters of race and gender that are educationally harmful for minority students. … Hiring a senior district official who insists that Black and Hispanic students not be held to the same standards of behavior or academic achievement as other students because of structural racism obviously undermined minority student success.”

Back in the day, President George W. Bush called this “the soft bigotry of low expectations.”

Moreover, when you add in the stamp of approval to this madness from both of the largest teachers unions, which worry more about “intersectionality” than learning, you find the reason that those who truly cherish their children and can make the sacrifice are bailing out on public schools left and right for private schools or homeschooling.

Yet the problem now persists into higher education as well.

Dr. Tabia Lee was one of those DEI officers who was doing it all wrong — she was actually trying to bring diversity of thought into the classroom. As she told the New York Post: “I made the mistake of trying to create an authentically inclusive learning environment for everyone, including Jewish students. Turns out, a toxic form of DEI (which is more accurately called ‘critical social justice’) demanded I do the opposite.”

While her main point was that of revealing the “blatant anti-Semitism” on college campuses in the wake of the barbaric and unprovoked Hamas attack on Israel, she also notes that DEI divides colleges into two groups: the oppressors and the oppressed. And it’s simply based on skin color.

Another recent piece by historian Victor Davis Hanson goes even deeper into both the anti-Semitism and the division becoming all too prevalent on campuses today:

“Racially segregated housing reappeared years ago as ‘theme houses.’ Effectively segregated, no-go areas are euphemistically known as ‘multi-cultural rooms.’ Any critics who have objected to such institutionalized racism, in Orwellian fashion, have been smeared as racists,” wrote Hanson. “Events that are off-limits to particular races on campus — like separate but equal graduation ceremonies or campus activities — are heralded as ‘celebrating diversity.’”

“Separate but equal”? Didn’t we do away with that back in 1954 with Brown v. Board of Education?

Hanson puts forth some excellent suggestions in an article well worth reading, but he concludes by getting to the crux of the problem: These institutions need to be hit in the pocketbook in order to bring about change.

“In short,” he writes, “colleges are now a bad deal — far too costly, too political, and too incompetent in fulfilling their mission to the country. They no longer can deliver on what they were created for, and they simply will not stop fueling things that are not just unnecessary, but downright injurious to the country, scary, and destructive.”

“Who wishes to continue with all that?” asks Hanson, and it’s a valid question. Those of us who graduated from college a little while back are likely wondering what happened to the academic rigor we were put through. Preparation for vocations like architecture, business, law, and medicine was somehow replaced with classes on diversity and gender studies and whatever other coursework could be conjured up to prepare … a future DEI officer.

Just a generation ago, as Millennials were coming of age, it seemed like we were making real progress on this equality and diversity (of thought) thing. But something came along to divide us, and here we are.

It’s time to put an end to this disastrous DEI experiment.

An Insane Border Record

We just saw the highest number of illegal immigrant encounters for the month of September.

Emmy Griffin

The chaos at the southern border is nothing new, especially under this president. His administration’s indifference to the lives of the American people, and the lives of the desperate people illegally crossing the border, is sociopathic in the extreme.

Customs and Border Patrol (CPB) has released the latest numbers, and in the month of September the total migrant encounters were a record 269,735. In the year-over-year calculation, President Joe Biden has broken another record. According to PJ Media, “The Customs and Border Protection reported Saturday that agents encountered 3,201,144 illegal immigrants at the border — 434,000 more than last year.”

These numbers represent only the illegal immigrants CPB was able to apprehend. There are likely untold thousands more who have successfully crossed the border undetected. CPB is not to blame — the agents are doing their job — but the sheer numbers have overwhelmed what manpower they have. Not to mention that CBP has its hands further tied by this administration’s border policies.

America is also overwhelmed. Regardless of whether their leaders have foolishly declared cities “sanctuaries” or not, illegal immigrants are flooding cities and states, draining resources and contributing almost nothing to public revenue.

There are numerous consequences for this feckless disregard for our border. Many Americans have paid with their lives in the form of drug overdoses and murders. Perhaps the greatest danger that is as-yet not fully realized is the number of illegal immigrants who are on the terror watch list.

One hundred sixty-nine people who are on the terror watch list have been apprehended at the border over the previous 12 months. In fact, that’s more than the number of such apprehensions over the past six years combined. Those are just the people agents caught. Again, there are any number of people who have crossed totally undetected and will remain thus until they commit some sort of crime to bring them to the authorities’ attention.

Now there is war in the Middle East begun by Islamic terror against innocent Israeli citizens. War in the Middle East is a near constant it seems, but the scale and the boldness of bad actors have worked to destabilize all of their enemies — the U.S. is just as bad as Israel, in their sight. The specter of Islamic jihad in the U.S. is still fresh in the minds of those who have lived through it. It’s especially sobering when former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy warns about potential terrorist sleeper cells.

We certainly remember the 9/11 attacks, and our city suffered one of the numerous “lone wolf” terror attacks that occurred in the years following 9/11. Now the next generation of Americans, our children, will possibly experience the unthinkable because of this weak president and his administration that decided leftist narratives and ideology are more important than the Americans whom Biden swore to serve.

The threat posed by bad actors coming from the Middle East is only part of the issue. Other foreign nationals are also able to sneak in. Those from our biggest global rivals like China have also been stopped at the southern border.

Nothing good has come out of the border being wide open, but Team Biden is refusing to do much of anything to stem the flow. Potentially opening up our citizens to another round of unpredictable violence (as in “lone wolf” attacks) and preventable instability (preventable because having a secure border is essential to the stability of a country) is careless, at the very least. It also showcases our current weakness as a nation. Our foreign enemies bank on the gullibility, distractibility, and short memories of our people, and that is playing out in the sociopathic recklessness of those whose duty it is to secure the border.

Biden and his administration have created an impossible situation for the American people, one that any number of next presidents will have to clean up. What is the most humane response for those already here? Send them home and close the borders.

Let’s make America safe again.

Israel-Hamas war: Israeli troops wait for cue to enter Gaza

As Hamas releases more hostages, Israel is thinking long and hard over the appropriate moment to begin their ground offensive into Gaza – but as Sky’s Military Analyst Michael Clarke explains, troops can’t wait indefinitely. Stuart Varney: The Squad’s ‘rabid pro-Hamas’ position could push Jews to flee the Democrat Party | Fox Business

During his “My Take,” Tuesday, “Varney & Co.” host Stuart Varney criticized ‘Squad’ Democrats for lying about the Israel-Hamas war, arguing their support for a terrorist organization is offending Jewish progressives and could push voters to abandon the Democrat Party.

STUART VARNEYThe so-called Squad has no shame.

This group of far-left Democrats lies to the American people.

SQUAD DEMOCRATS GET PASS FROM PARTY LEADERSHIP ON ‘DISGRACEFUL’ RESPONSE TO HAMAS CHILD EXECUTIONS

You have to wonder how they can be in good standing in their party.

They are rabidly pro-Hamas. They vigorously support an organization that terrorizes and kills Jews.

They put out propaganda to influence public opinion.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has still not taken down her tweet accusing Israel of attacking that hospital in Gaza.

RASHIDA TLAIB IS PUSHING HAMAS LIES IN THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS: VARNEY

That’s a lie and has been thoroughly discredited. The tweet has been viewed 37 million times.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar calls for a cease-fire as if Israel should not be allowed to pursue the terrorists.

Omar wants to lock in a Hamas victory.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez charges Israel with “war crimes.”

Where was she on October 7th when Hamas butchered Israeli civilians?

The Squad and their supporters are a powerful block within the Democrat Party.

ISRAEL CONTINUES TO BOMBARD GAZA WITH AIRSTRIKES AFTER HAMAS RELEASES MORE HOSTAGES

They have deeply offended other progressives, especially Jewish progressives.

Until October 7th, liberals were united behind their causes; but then Hamas committed atrocities on Jews and there was barely a murmur from the left.

Many Jewish folks feel abandoned by their former friends.

It just may be that the traditional loyalty of Jewish voters to the Democrat Party is about to unwind.

VILE: Barack Obama Slams Israel’s Response to Hamas Terror Attack and Takes a Shot at America in Infuriating Article | The Gateway Pundit

Former President Barack Obama speaks during an interview with CBS News. (CBS Mornings / YouTube screen shot)

It would be a fib to say this response from the 44th “President” is surprising, but it is no less infuriating.

Barack Obama on Monday wrote an article on Medium called “Thoughts on Israel and Gaza” where he slammed the Jewish state’s response to the Hamas terror attack and took a shot at America in the process. At the same time, he made excuses for the Palestinian population in Gaza which elected Hamas to start with.

At first, Obama starts off his piece by expressing support for Joe Biden’s “call” to support Israel going after Hamas before quickly devolving into full college lecturer mode.

As I stated in an earlier post, Israel has a right to defend its citizens against such wanton violence, and I fully support President Biden’s call for the United States to support our long-time ally in going after Hamas, dismantling its military capabilities, and facilitating the safe return of hundreds of hostages to their families.

But even as we support Israel, we should also be clear that how Israel prosecutes this fight against Hamas matters.

Obama next takes a shot at the greatest country in the world which he once represented as president.  Note the moral equivalence he draws between America and less civilized countries.

This is an enormously difficult task. War is always tragic, and even the most carefully planned military operations often put civilians at risk. As President Biden noted during his recent visit to Israel, America itself has at times fallen short of our higher values when engaged in war, and in the aftermath of 9/11, the U.S. government wasn’t interested in heeding the advice of even our allies when it came to the steps we took to protect ourselves against Al Qaeda.

The failed president goes to warn that an invasion of Gaza could ultimately “backfire” on Israel if it ignores “the human cost.”

Still, the world is watching closely as events in the region unfold, and any Israeli military strategy that ignores the human cost could ultimately backfire. Already, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the bombing of Gaza, many of them children. Hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes.

Obama next slams Israel’s decision to institute a blockade of sorts on Gaza.

The Israeli government’s decision to cut off food, water and electricity to a captive civilian population threatens not only to worsen a growing humanitarian crisis; it could further harden Palestinian attitudes for generations, erode global support for Israel, play into the hands of Israel’s enemies, and undermine long term efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

This is the same population that elected Hamas to begin with. The goal by the Israeli government is likely to break the will of the terror organization and its supporters.

It is a far cry from raping women, murdering babies, and burning families alive. These are just a few of the atrocities Hamas is guilty of.

Obama’s criticism of Israel continued as he whined about Palestinians who were “displaced” when the Jewish state was formed and hits out against the settlement policy Israel has had for years.

It means acknowledging that Palestinians have also lived in disputed territories for generations; that many of them were not only displaced when Israel was formed but continue to be forcibly displaced by a settler movement that too often has received tacit or explicit support from the Israeli government; that Palestinian leaders who’ve been willing to make concessions for a two-state solution have too often had little to show for their efforts; and that it is possible for people of goodwill to champion Palestinian rights and oppose certain Israeli government policies in the West Bank and Gaza without being anti-Semitic.

Obama then finally closes by with a faux call for compromise.

Perhaps most of all, it means we should choose not to always assume the worst in those with whom we disagree. In an age of constant rancor, trolling, and misinformation on social media, at a time when so many politicians and attention seekers see an advantage in shedding heat rather than light, it may be unrealistic to expect respectful dialogue on any issue — much less on an issue with such high stakes and after so much blood has been spilled.

But if we care about keeping open the possibility of peace, security, and dignity for future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children — as well as for our own children — then it falls upon all of us to at least make the effort to model, in our own words and actions, the kind of world we want them to inherit.

Son of Hamas founder exposes their animosity toward Palestinians: The irony behind anti-Israel bigotry | Denison Forum.

People wave flags during a pro-Palestinian march calling for a ceasefire in Gaza at the Washington Monument, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, in Washington. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik) Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a founding Hamas leader, reveals how Hamas doesn't care for the Palestinian people.

Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of a founding Hamas leader. In response to the October 7 atrocities, he told a reporter: “I was born at the heart of Hamas leadership . . . and I know them very well. They don’t care for the Palestinian people. They do not regard the human life.”

He explained: “Hamas is not a national movement. Hamas is a religious movement with a goal to establish an Islamic state.” In his view, “Hamas does not serve the Palestinian people. Hamas serves Iran. . . . They are using Palestinian people as a human shield.”

Why, then, are so many “pro-Palestinian” advocates in the West supporting them? Why is such support likely to escalate as Israel escalates its response to Hamas’s atrocities?

A swastika alongside the Israeli flag

Yesterday, journalists were shown horrific footage from Hamas’s October 7 massacre, including scenes of murder, decapitation, and torture. Some of the two hundred in attendance burst into tears as they viewed the images. While Hamas released two more hostages yesterday, it is holding more than two hundred, one of them a seventeen-year-old girl in a wheelchair. Israel has found Hamas files with instructions for making a cyanide-based weapon.

Nonetheless, world opinion is inexorably turning against Israel and the Jewish people, blaming them for the atrocities committed against them.

A United Nations official likened Israel’s response to Nazi actions in the Holocaust. A doctor in the UK posted a picture of a swastika alongside the Israeli flag on her official Instagram page. Organizations funded by the European Union praised Hamas terrorists for acting with “courage and sacrifice.”

This while antisemitism continues to rise in CanadaGermany, across Europe, and in America, where Jews are rushing to buy guns to protect themselves. A rally supporting Israel planned for downtown Chicago had to be relocated after threats from a pro-Hamas group were reported.

Wall Street Journal opinion writer noted that this pattern is tragically not unusual: “The worst demonization of the Jewish state has typically followed the worst atrocities against it.” He explains this pattern with an insight I found very valuable: “This behavior is an example of cognitive-dissonance reduction, the process by which people reconcile new information that contradicts their firmly held priors. The result is an ostensibly coherent system of thought.”

In other words, to continue supporting those who attack Israel, advocates must find ways to dehumanize and demonize the Jewish people and blame them for their sufferings. We can expect this to escalate as the war escalates.

The irony behind anti-Israel bigotry

What is the reasoning behind what one writer calls the “sickening” anti-Israel bias by so many in the West?

First, Israel is accused of being “colonizers” by those who claim that they stole their land from its rightful Palestinian owners. However, the Palestinians are descended from Arab Muslims who invaded the area in the seventh century, displacing many of the Jews and Christians who had been there for centuries. They were in turn displaced by the Crusaders, who were displaced by Egyptian Muslims, who were displaced by Ottoman Turks. And the Jews under Joshua conquered the land from the Canaanites, whose genealogical descendants now reside in Lebanon.

If the “colonizers” are supposed to return the land to its original owners, to whom should it be returned?

Second, Israel is seen by many critics through the prism of “critical theory.” In this view, they are the majority oppressors of the minority oppressed. However, Jews in Israel comprise less than half the population of Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, and the global Jewish population comprises 0.2 percent of the global population.

We should also note the ironic fact that many of Israel’s military enemies are the ideological enemies of their ideological supporters. Islamic jihadists subjugate women and persecute LGBTQ people, while Israel empowers women and welcomes people of all genders and sexual orientations.

Nonetheless, the ideological bigotry Israel is facing has enormous implications for the future of the Jewish people.

“Judgments that are true and make for peace”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who is Jewish, visited Israel after the October 7 invasion, where he met with families of hostages. He recalled his own family’s horrific experiences during the Holocaust and said, “If we don’t prevent the threat from Hamas from occurring, it’ll happen again, and again, and again.”

I am writing today to explain the rising hatred against Israel so we can use our personal and cultural influence to defend the Jewish people from their ideological enemies in our society. This is vital for the Palestinian people as well: as Mosab Hassan Yousef noted, Hamas uses them as “human shields” in its quest to eradicate the Jews. Support for Hamas only endangers their Palestinian victims in Gaza and elsewhere.

As we speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), let’s remember that this is a spiritual conflict with “the father of lies” (John 8:44). Then let’s ask God’s Spirit to empower us (Ephesians 5:18) to “speak the truth to one another” and thus “render in [our] gates judgments that are true and make for peace” (Zechariah 8:16).

Billy Graham was right: “Because truth is unpopular does not mean that it should not be proclaimed.” The more people reject it, the more they need it.

And let’s continue to pray for a spiritual awakening in the Middle East that would transform hatred into love and end millennia of conflict. Abraham Lincoln asked, “Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?”

How will you “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6) and then help answer your prayer today?

The pain isn’t over for stocks – weak earnings will drag the S&P 500 down another 8%, Morgan Stanley CIO warns | Business Insider

Morgan Stanley CIO Mike Wilson.Bloomberg TV

  • Stocks have struggled over the second half of 2023 – and the pain isn’t over yet, according to Morgan Stanley’s Mike Wilson.
  • Weak earnings will drag the S&P 500 down another 8% by the end of the year, he said Monday.
  • Big Tech giants Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta and Amazon are all set to report their quarterly results this week.

US stocks won’t rally anytime soon, Morgan Stanley’s top strategist has warned.

Mike Wilson said Monday that he expects the S&P 500 to drop this week, with weaker-than-expected earnings likely to snuff out any potential rebound for the benchmark index.

“We would not be surprised to see a further move lower in price this week below the October lows before the next attempted rally,” the US bank’s CIO and chief US equity strategist wrote in a research note seen by Insider.

“Based on our view of earnings, valuations and policy, we believe the S&P 500 will have a hard time getting back above what were previously levels of support,” Wilson added, referring to the level the gauge was trading at before its recent five-day losing streak.

Instead, Wilson stood by his long-standing forecast that the S&P 500 will fall to 3,900 points by the end of 2023, which is 8% where it traded at as of Monday’s closing bell.

Slowing earnings could add to Wall Street’s headache at a time when stock investors are already fretting about an unprecedented spike in longer-duration Treasury bond yields.

Tesla sparked some concern last week when it missed analysts’ third-quarter targets – and followed up that flop with a “mini-disaster” of an earnings call where CEO Elon Musk flagged economic headwinds and bemoaned slow production on the Cybertruck.

Fellow mega-cap “Magnificent Seven” stocks MicrosoftAlphabetMeta Platforms, and Amazon are all set to publish quarterly earnings of their own this week.

As well as warning about a profitability slowdown, Wilson said he’s expecting stocks to suffer further because the Federal Reserve now looks unlikely to slash interest rates anytime soon. The central bank has repeatedly signaled in recent months that it intends to keep borrowing costs high well into 2024 in a bid to kill off inflation, which is still lingering clear of its 2% target.

“While the Fed may be close to pausing its tightening campaign, it is likely far from ready to begin loosening its stance,” Wilson wrote. “Furthermore, the tightening the Fed has done over the past 18 months is now starting to be felt in the broader economy.”

When interest rates are high, stocks tend to suffer because investors can get better relative returns by putting their money in a savings account and higher borrowing costs chip away at listed companies’ future cash flows.

The Watchman’s Bagpipes: It’s Islam, Stupid!

The apologetics field includes exposing false belief system. Islam is likely THE most dangerous and demonic of all religious/political systems and yet nations—including the USA—keep allowing these people in their countries while politicians pander to them (and help to finance them!). This single article is one of the best I’ve found exposing the behaviors and ideology of Islam.

I recommend everyone read up on this horrid belief system so you will see just how much lying politicians will do to promote Islam while at the same time persecuting Christians and Jews. Here are books I have or had in my personal library, all of which I’ve read, which I highly recommend:

‘Demonic’: Ray Comfort Explains ‘Hatred, Venom’ of Hamas Against Israel, Power of Bible Prophecy | Faithwire

Evangelist Ray Comfort said the “horror” unfolding against Israelis at the hands of Hamas is “heartbreaking,” describing the evil nature of the terrorists responsible for the carnage.

“These guys are demonic,” the Living Waters founder said. “They’re full of hatred and venom towards anyone who’s Jewish, and my heart broke.”

As for what drives raging anti-Semitism — a scourge that has long plagued humanity — Comfort said he believes its roots are also “demonic.”

“When you look at what happened to Nazi Germany, it just doesn’t make sense why Hitler would be so venomous towards Jewish people,” he said. “And you see it right throughout history.”

It’s a history he knows too well as a Jewish person. Comfort’s great-grandparents fled Europe and made their way to New Zealand, changing their surname to something non-Jewish.

“My heart breaks that anyone could hate someone, not because of anything they’ve done, but because of who they are,” he added, paraphrasing Jeremiah 17:9-10. “That’s racial prejudice. And it … traces itself back to the human heart — it’s deceitfully wicked above all things; who can know it?”

Comfort, a well-known Christian evangelist, also shared his beliefs on how Christians should balance current events with eschatology — the study of the end times.

Watch what he said:

With so many events focused on the Middle East, many are asking questions about the end of days. Comfort shared how he’s been processing these events, as he sees the end times as offering an opportunity to evangelize and spread the Gospel.

“When we talk of prophecy, we appeal to the intellect,” he said. “When we use the law of Moses, We speak to the conscience, and the Bible says Paul persuaded them concerning Jesus, which is what we’re supposed to do, both out of the law of Moses and out of the prophets.”

Comfort continued, “When you appeal to the intellect using prophecy, it’s actually bait when you’re fishing for men. When you use the law of Moses, the Ten Commandments, that’s the hook to pull the fish in. So, there is a balance, and I try and get that balance.”

He often finds the end times a “great springboard into the Gospel,” as people have generally heard the terms and themes surrounding the Antichrist, Armageddon, and other related ideas.

“People are really getting scared,” he said. “Because this could … easily escalate into a worldwide attack on anything godly, any Jews, any Christians throughout the world.”

With all of the anxieties and nervousness surrounding current events, Comfort reminded believers to look at the end of the story — the hope seen at the conclusion of Revelation. And this knowledge should bring peace to believers rather than igniting stress, he argued.

“We know exactly what’s gonna happen … at the end of all this Bible prophecy,” he said. “We know that Jesus is coming. There’s going to be a shout of God, the dead raised in Christ, the new heavens and the new Earth. We’re going to get new bodies like Christ had when he rose from the dead.”

This knowledge should also do something else, according to Comfort: spark evangelism in believers’ hearts.

“When we look at these things, it should stir us to fulfill the Great Commission,” he said. “To take courage and say, ‘I’m going to talk to my neighbor and just say to him, ‘You’ve been following what’s happening in the Middle East. Do you know it’s all mentioned in the Bible? Do you know the Gospel?’”

Watch Comfort’s videos tackling evangelism and some of the biggest questions of the day here.

Pro-Hamas demonstrators mimic supporters of Hitler’s genocide | JNS

Make no mistake: Those who approve of Hamas or oppose its being brought to justice express the same perverse values as those who applauded Hitler.

Who in North America endorses the mass slaughter of Jews? Appallingly, a lot of people. This became crystal clear following Hamas’s pogrom in Israel on Oct. 7, during which more than 1,400 Israelis—mostly Jewish civilians—were butchered by the Palestinian Arab terrorist group.

In almost no time, tens of thousands were hailing the massacre as a major victory for the Palestinian “resistance.” Students and faculty at colleges and universities—as well as in public squares—gleefully celebrated the cold-blooded murder of Jews at the hands of Palestinian terrorists.

Make no mistake: Those who approve of Hamas or oppose its being brought to justice express the same perverse values as those who applauded Hitler and disapproved of the war to stop him.

The groundswell of support for a group that openly calls for Jewish genocide—and practices what it preaches—has understandably frightened Jews everywhere. This fear is well-founded: The last time a group advocating genocide against Jews gained widespread support, Jews were brutally and systematically massacred.

No wonder that following the Holocaust, Jews vowed “Never again.” Nor is it any wonder that Israel is so determined to extirpate—root and branch—Gaza’s evil masters once and for all.

Nonetheless, students at colleges and universities throughout North America support Hamas. At Harvard University, 35 student organizations issued a joint statement saying they “hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence … The apartheid regime is the only one to blame.”

A similar statement was issued by three student unions at York University in Toronto, Canada, calling Hamas’s murderous acts “resistance efforts” that were “a direct response to the ongoing and violent occupation of Palestine.”

At George Mason University, pro-Palestinian demonstrators chanted, “They’ve got tanks, we’ve got hang gliders. Glory to the resistance fighters.” Hamas used hang gliders to infiltrate into Israel on Oct. 7, descending on a music festival and ruthlessly murdering 260 people.

On Oct. 12, the notoriously antisemitic student organization Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) held a “National Day of Resistance” throughout the United States, calling Hamas’s attack on Israel “a historic win for the Palestinian resistance.”

Some university and college faculty also expressed their support for Hamas. Columbia University professor Joseph Massad, for example, wrote an article in which he described the Hamas attack as “awesome” and referred to “the major achievement of the resistance in the temporary takeover of these colonies.” He was referring to Hamas’s siege of Israeli communities like Kfar Aza and Kibbutz Be’eri, where the terrorist group methodically murdered men, women and children, even burning and decapitating babies.

Cornell University’s professor Russell Rickford called Hamas’s attack on Israel “energizing” and “exhilarating.” At the University of North Carolina, doctoral candidate Kylie Broderick absurdly claimed the Hamas massacre was “a right enshrined under international law.”

In numerous cases, college and university administrations refused to condemn Hamas’s massacre. Harvard’s executives have not condemned the Palestinian Arab terrorist group, despite the urging of notable donors to do so. At the University of California at Berkeley, students who appealed to the institution’s administrators to condemn the pogrom were met with hostility, with one being told by an administrator, “Jewish students [at Berkeley] are far too privileged.”

Radical civil society groups also expressed support for Hamas. The Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter, for example, posted on X (formerly Twitter) a picture of a person on a hang-glider with a Palestinian flag attached to it and the words, “I stand with Palestine.” The group later deleted the post and “apologized” with a post that read, “Anything is possible! Never did we think we’d be apologizing to Zionists … Free Palestine. Free Us All.”

Labor unions are on the Hamas bandwagon, too. SB Workers United, which represents American Starbucks employees, wrote “Solidarity with Palestine!” over a picture of a Hamas bulldozer breaking through the security fence on the first day of its murderous rampage. The union also advocated for pro-Hamas demonstrations across the United States.

A spontaneous demonstration of support for Hamas recently took place at a WNBA game. Before the game, a minute of silence was held in memory of the victims of the Hamas massacre, only to be disrupted by booing, jeers and catcalls from large sections of the crowd, some chanting, “Free Palestine!”

Nor is support for Hamas limited to the left. Jon Minadeo, the head of the virulently antisemitic Goyim Defense League, reacted to the Hamas atrocities by saying, “This is awesome, man! I’m so stoked!” He called on Lebanon and Iran to join the war and “wipe Israel off the map.”

As with the Nazis and their cheering section in the 1930s, today’s Hamas celebrants base their support on abject lies.

Here are some irrefutable facts:

• Israel has no policies or laws that separate or deny civil rights to anyone because of race or ethnicity. Zero apartheid.

• Israel does not occupy any Palestinian land. All Israeli presence in Gaza disappeared 18 years ago. Palestinians in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) have never had sovereignty over any land anywhere—Israel won the disputed territories from Jordan in 1967.

• The demand that Palestine be set free is ironic, since the Palestinians have refused generous offers of land for peace five times in the last 75 years and the Gazans have had complete independence since 2005.

• When Hamas and its supporters chant “end the occupation,” they are talking about destruction of the entire state of Israel—“from the river to the sea”—not just Gaza or Judea and Samaria.

Those who support Hamas are as morally depraved as those who supported the Nazis in the 1930s. The Palestinian terrorist group has the same objective as the Nazis: Destruction of the Jewish people (and with it, their state). Hamas also employs many of the brutal, bloody methods of the Nazis, as demonstrated by their murderous, bestial rampage on Oct. 7.

No surprise Jews worldwide are frightened. As one commentator noted, “it smells like 1930s Germany.”

It’s also no wonder that Israelis—who live by the motto “Never again”—are determined to resolve this existential threat definitively… on their own. Those who oppose Hamas’s extermination by definition support the group’s goals.

Senator: Biden Admin Must Stop Fueling Iran’s Terrorist Funding that Targets Israel from 3 Sides

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The president and lawmakers are working to send billions of dollars in aid to Israel as it fights against Hamas terrorists. While the aid is crucial, some are saying the U.S. should not only help Israel, it should also target the source of the terrorism – Iran.

So far, President Biden and members of Congress have talked about the importance of aiding Israel but have been unable to provide any extra funding because of dysfunction in the House of Representatives. Coupling aid for Israel along with aid for Ukraine is shaping up to be a fight on Capitol Hill when the House eventually finds a speaker.

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) spoke to CBN about the need to provide financial aid to Israel and for the U.S. to crack down on Iran. Lankford says not only does the Biden administration need to stop its $6 billion payment to Iran that was part of a hostage release negotiation, but sanctions against the country need to be enforced in order to aid Israel.
