LARRY KUDLOW: Biden and his cronies would love to throw Trump in jail for 700 years | Fox Business

As any common-sense person knows, the Letitia James-Arthur Engoron ruling against former President Trump was nothing more than political persecution.

As Byron York wrote today, New York AG James has been campaigning for years to bring financial and political ruin on President Trump. Hear it for yourself:

LETITIA JAMES: “No one is above the law, including this illegitimate president and so, I look forward to going into the office of AG every day suing him, defending your rights.”

DOORDASH SAYS DATA SHOWS SEATTLE PAY RULES HAVE CAUSED ‘UNPRECEDENTED DROP’ IN BUSINESS

By the way, why isn’t that fomenting insurrection? This was in 2018 and James found her cat’s paw in Engoron, who is basically a Democratic clubhouse politician. That’s all he is. Meanwhile, regarding the facts of the case, there were no victims, no damages, no consumer complaints. There were satisfied banks and other lenders who made a ton of money doing business with the Trump Organization.

Mr. Trump hired tens of thousands of people and paid over $300 million in taxes to the city and state of New York over time. He virtually changed the skyline of the city. He once rebuilt the Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park that New York politicians spent years failing to do, and then gave great happiness to parents and their kids all over the city in the process.

As these left-wing Democrats weaponize their arsenal of judicial power, they have imposed draconian conditions, even on President Trump’s appeal process. As a non-lawyer, my understanding is that, in order to get to the New York appellate court, Mr. Trump must post some kind of “guaranteed surety” bond in order to cover payment if the trial judgement is ever affirmed. Stay with me on this one.

This would be a bond secured with collateral, like cash or letters of credit from banks or other investment-type assets, including real estate. Essentially, and bear with me on this folks, one party has to guarantee another party’s obligation to a third party.

Making this potentially even more difficult, the Engoron decision bans any borrowing from New York banks. In other words, one party has to guarantee Mr. Trump’s obligation to the satisfaction of the court in order to get it into the Court of appeals. The Engoron decision, by the way, bans any borrowing from New York banks. That makes it even tougher. I don’t know if that allows insurance companies or not to guarantee a bond. I just don’t know. The sum-total here could be up to $450 million including interest, and then presumably the money for the bond is deposited to the court and held in escrow pending the actual appeal.

These hyper-punitive conditions reveal again the nature of the political prosecution the New York Democrats are imposing on Trump. There is no proportionality to what this weaponized court has done. That is why eminent jurist Jonathan Turley has called this “insidious.”

Where exactly did this number of $355 million, plus another hundred for interest, come from? Nobody knows. It’s arbitrary. It could have well come from the White House. It could have well come from the Oval Office, where Biden and his cronies would love to throw Trump in jail for 700 years and take his businesses away and rob him of his money.

Political prosecution, Soviet-style, is what this is. Of course, the decision like this will deter or prevent businesses from coming into New York, city or state.

That’s the easy part – free choice, but where is President Trump’s free choice? Where is his freedom? His freedom to start a business, run a business, succeed in business, spread prosperity everywhere he goes?

Where is his free speech, his First Amendment right? Where is Donald Trump‘s right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness? Certainly not in the Letitia James-Arthur Engoron court.

Only 16% of Americans say Biden has helped the middle class | Fox Business

Just a fraction of Americans believe the economic policies enacted by President Biden are helping middle-class families, according to a new poll.

Findings published Tuesday by Monmouth University show that while roughly half of the public gives some credit to Biden for improving the U.S. economy, only a few say the upturn has actually helped their families.

About 22% of respondents said the president deserves a “great deal” of credit for the state of the economy, while 26% said he deserves some credit. But 14% said Biden does not deserve much credit, and another 36% of respondents said he deserves no credit at all.

The responses were split largely down party lines, with nine out of 10 Democrats giving the president at least some credit for improving the economy, while just one out of 10 Republicans said the same.

MORE AMERICANS ARE GETTING A SECOND JOB TO OFFSET STING OF HIGH INFLATION

“When it comes to making a connection between the national economy and Americans’ own well-being, Biden is doing about as well as Obama did among his fellow Democrats and similar to how Trump performed among Republicans,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. “The problem for Biden is he is doing decidedly worse than either of his two predecessors among independents.”

Middle-class Americans are also feeling sour about Biden’s policies, dealing a potential blow to the president less than one year out from the 2024 election. Just 16% of middle-class families say they have benefited “a lot” under Biden, compared to 41% of wealthy families and 22% of lower-income families.

401(K) HARDSHIP WITHDRAWALS ARE SURGING AS HIGH INFLATION SQUEEZES AMERICANS

Those numbers are worse than former President Donald Trump’s were when he was in office, according to the survey.

“The administration can beat the drum on all sorts of positive economic news. From the standpoint of Biden’s presidential campaign, however, if voters don’t think this bounty is reaching the middle class, then that can become the economic ‘fact’ which matters most,” Murray said.

The White House has lauded a mostly steady yearlong decline in inflation, but most economists agree that is due to the Federal Reserve’s aggressive interest rate hike campaign and the resolution of supply chain disruptions, not the president’s economic agenda.

While inflation has fallen considerably from a peak of 9.1% notched during June 2022, it remains well above the Federal Reserve’s 2% goal. And when compared with January 2021, shortly before the inflation crisis began, prices are up a stunning 17.6%.

Many families have yet to see material relief. Food prices are up 33.7% from the start of 2021, while shelter costs are up 18.7%, according to FOX Business calculations. Energy prices, meanwhile, are up 32.8%.

Chronically high prices are forcing Americans to spend about $1,019 more per month than they did three years ago, before the inflation crisis began, according to a recent estimate from Moody’s Analytics.

As they spend more on everyday goods, Americans are burning through their savings, and are increasingly turning to credit cards to cover those basic expenses.

The burden is disproportionately borne by low-income Americans, whose already-stretched paychecks are heavily affected by price fluctuations.

Biden Running For Re-Election Is “One Of The Greatest Gags Ever Put Over On The American Public” | ZeroHedge News

Authored by James Howard Kunstler via Kunstler.com,

“We are going to have the most diverse and inclusive civilizational collapse in history”

– Oilfield Rando on “X”

Hark! We were informed on Presidents’ Day by The New York Times that a poll out of the University of Houston, led by one prof of poly-sci named (get this name) Brandon Rottinghaus, ranks “Joe Biden” at No. 14, way above average among the forty-six demi-gods elected to run the US government since 1789.

It’s a helluva good bit of news for a nation in need of reassurance in these dark days, don’t you agree?

They’ve got him sandwiched between John Quincy Adams and Woodrow Wilson, beating out the likes of Andrew Jackson, Grover Cleveland, James Monroe, and Ronald Reagan. Mr. Trump is ranked dead last, of course.

“Biden’s most important achievements may be that he rescued the presidency from Trump, resumed a more traditional style of presidential leadership and is gearing up to keep the office out of his predecessor’s hands this fall,” the report states.

Gearing up? I’m sure.

If gearing up means calling a lid on your life an hour after breakfast.

And what do you suppose they mean by “a more traditional form of leadership.”

Arranging serial overseas military humiliations? Selling favors to all comers from foreign lands? Inviting transsexuals to cavort on the White House lawn? Abolishing control of US borders? Running a $2-trillion annual deficit? Mandating unsafe and ineffective so-called “vaccine” shots on millions? Cancelling the First Amendment? Stealing elections? Conspiring to jail his political adversaries?

We’re also informed in recent days by the Department of Justice that “Joe Biden” is not mentally competent to answer for anything in a court of law, should someone inquire into the signal irregularities emerging from the fugitive annals of his long career. Of course, “Joe Biden” running for reelection is one of the greatest gags ever put over on the American public. But more astounding yet is that half the country persists in pretending to believe it. They are egged on in every possible way by persons in high places of government fearful of going to prison if the Democratic Party loses its grip on the levers of power.

Since “Joe Biden” is not actually calling the shots, one naturally wonders who is responsible for all the dubious achievements of the past three years. I guess we’ll find out when Mr. Trump wins that election in November, an outcome increasingly guaranteed unless “Joe Biden” (or, let’s face it, our Intel Community) takes the final decisive step of bumping off the Golden Golem of Greatness.

What have they got left?

AI-contrived photos of Mr. Trump having sex with a manatee in the intercoastal waterway off Mar-a-Lago?

In New York City, the Woke lunatics did a victory dance after Judge Arthur Engoron, beaming his Joker smile, laid a $350-million fine on Mr. Trump for conducting a set of normal real estate transactions with a bank that profited from doing business with him. Many are still trying to figure out how that amounts to a crime of any sort. Don’t suppose that the check is in the mail, though. There is an appeals process that leads, you may be sure, to a dismissal of that inane judgment and the puerile hypotheticals that the case derived from. And, by and by, you also might expect a countersuit for malicious prosecution when all that smoke clears. New York Attorney General Letitia James, lacking impulse control, is for the moment enjoying the fulfillment of her campaign promise to “get Trump.” Waiting to see how much she enjoys losing her law license in the days to come.

Every reaction provokes an equal and opposite reaction, Newton’s Third Law states. It manifested shortly after Judge Engoron’s end zone dance when a call went out over the Internet for America’s truckers to refuse loads inbound to New York City. We’ll have to stand by to see how that develops. No more bok choy, Texas beef, or Meyer Lemons for you, “progressive” denizens of the Five Boroughs! Embrace the suck! The genius part is that, unlike the 2022 Canadian truckers’ action in Ottawa, the American truckers will not be cluttering up New York’s streets with their rigs, license plates on view, leaving them vulnerable to such pranks as the shutdown of their bank accounts. All they’ll do is sit innocently at home back in Kentucky and Missouri, enjoying a break from the rigors of the highway. Is that a crime? Arguably no more than doing a normal real estate deal in good faith with a willing lender was a crime.

The truckers have promised to include Washington DC next in their delivery boycott. The K-Street lobbying gang won’t be buying any influence for a while over platters of grilled branzino and Mariscos Molcajete. Maybe there will be a few Cliff Bars left in the Farragut Square 7-Eleven and they can do business in their cars. As for “Joe Biden,” his minders have probably laid in enough Ensure for a well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory to get by for a few weeks — until the magic moment when, alas, he must needs be thrown under the bus of expediency to keep their game going.
