The Historic Creeds vs. Passing Theological Fads | The Log College

by Thomas Kidd; THE ACTON INSTITUTE

Evangelical Christians sometimes struggle with how best to enforce “orthodoxy.” The past century of Protestant history could be written as a story of attempts to define what’s essential and what’s debatable on issues from the Bible’s “inerrancy” to more recent controversies over marriage, sexuality, and women’s ordination as pastors. Protestants typically appeal to the Bible as their final authority, but doing so is as likely to intensify disagreements as resolve them.

Carl Trueman argues that the boundary-setting problems of evangelicals could be assuaged by Protestant creedalism. His book Crisis of Confidence: Reclaiming the Historic Faith in a Culture Consumed with Individualism and Identity was originally published in 2012 as The Creedal Imperative. The trends that Trueman observed in 2012 toward hyper-individualism and pragmatism have only accelerated in the intervening years. Crisis of Confidence also serves as a prescriptive companion to Trueman’s compelling The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self, his intellectual history of expressive individualism.

Given that gender transitioners and drag queens have become our culture’s icons, expressive individualism has clearly triumphed in the West. But has it infected the church, too? Certainly mainline Protestants and even many “progressive” evangelicals have fallen in lockstep with elite trends on radical subjectivity, most obviously regarding gender identity. Progressive and mainline churches have dwindled accordingly, while culturally traditional churches are often the most demographically robust.

Yet even in churches that have stayed faithful to biblical orthodoxy, a spirit of pragmatism, consumerism, and individualism often prevails. Doctrinal rigor is sometimes replaced by “your best life now” preaching (in megachurch pastor Joel Osteen’s phrase). This genre focuses on successful living more than historic doctrine. Church “members” come and go with blinding rapidity, often driven by factors such as which church has the most scintillating music or the most fun youth group. A church class on trinitarian doctrine might attract a few fogeys, but those on Christian-themed fitness or therapy will fill to overflowing.

Trueman offers creeds as a practical means to mitigate rising consumerism and self-obsession in churches. Some readers may be surprised to learn that many evangelical churches do not recite creeds in church services. Nor do they have an explicit commitment to the Apostles’ or Nicene Creed, or to one of the classic confessions of the Reformation era, such as the Westminster standards. They do often have a “statement of faith” shared by churches in their denomination (such as the Southern Baptist Convention’s “Baptist Faith and Message,” originally adopted in 1925), or one tailored especially for that congregation. But those statements often languish unmentioned in services. Crisis of Confidence is directed to churches that consider themselves doctrinally orthodox but do not recite creeds as a regular part of their liturgy.

What does a historic creed do for a body of believers? First, a creed gives the church a focus of objective truth that does not change across time or cultures. The reality about God is not something we imagine or invent. Instead, when we affirm a historic confession, we join the “cloud of witnesses” through centuries and across geographic space who have affirmed the truth about God. Second, creeds and confessions cultivate godly “affections,” as the great theologian Jonathan Edwards put it.

More than ephemeral feelings, the affections reflect the disposition of the heart, especially toward God. This cultivation of godly affections by affirming truth stands in sharp contrast to expressive individualism, which asserts that one’s feelings create truth. We see this phenomenon in today’s common claim that if I feel I am a woman, I must be one, regardless of what biology or chromosomes say.

Finally, confessions consciously connect us to church history and remind us that Christianity is not primarily about me, my feelings, or my congregation, pastor, or denomination. Confessions de-center (but do not de-value) the trials of faith that individual Christians inevitably endure. Such trials (often related to “church hurt”) usually feature in “deconstructionist” testimonies on social media. One’s doubts about Christianity matter, but the fact that I have questions about Christianity or hurtful church experiences doesn’t change the massive heft of the Great Tradition of Christian belief and practice. The scholar D.H. Williams defines the Great Tradition, from a Protestant perspective, as “the foundational legacy of apostolic and patristic faith, most accurately enshrined in Scripture and secondarily in the great confessions and creeds of the early church.” Scripture and historic confessions remind us of that monumental tradition.

Deconstructionists and “ex-vangelicals” rage against historic Christianity and sometimes act as if their attacks on Christian beliefs or churchly hypocrisies represent a veritable new Enlightenment. But their fulminations look smaller and less consequential when compared to the legions from every tribe, tongue, and nation who have believed and lived out the faith “once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

I heartily agree with Trueman’s recommendations about churches and confessions. Indeed, I am a member of a Southern Baptist church that regularly recites the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. I also work at a confessional Baptist seminary that takes no responsibility more seriously than teaching in accord with historic Christian orthodoxy. I do wish, however, that Trueman had probed a bit more deeply into the reasons why evangelical churches do not recite creeds and/or explicitly attach themselves to historic confessions. Resistance to creeds and confessions has taken a variety of forms, and the Protestant mantra “no creed but the Bible” has an older history than just the contemporary West’s captivity to expressive individualism.

This is not the place to review all the disputes over creeds in Protestant history, but it is worth noting that the concept of “no creed but the Bible” (a term that began to appear frequently in the early 1800s) was not always a cover for theological sloppiness or liberalism. Trueman’s Presbyterians, for example, fought bitterly in the 1700s over requirements that pastors “subscribe” to confessions (usually the Westminster Confession of 1646), in addition to affirming the Bible’s inspiration. Many conservative Presbyterians saw subscription to confessions as undermining the unique authority of the Bible.

When evangelicals began creating parachurch agencies such as the American Bible Society, they also cited “no creed but the Bible” to make the societies welcoming to all who affirmed the divine inspiration of the Scriptures. This parachurch temperament may be an instance of pragmatism, but it would be hard to construe as liberal.

Many biblicists were genuinely queasy over any implication that man-made confessions paralleled the Scriptures in authority. They wanted to make the distinction between themselves and Roman Catholics crystal clear on this point. For Protestants, who hold to sola scriptura and see the Bible as uniquely authoritative, there will always be uncertainty about what precise status a creed or confession holds in the church. Trueman persuasively argues, however, that no church ever adheres to the Bible and nothing else in its teaching. The theologically orthodox are always influenced by extrabiblical authors, traditions, and even terminology such as the “Trinity.” Every church is confessional, whether it admits it or not.

The Trinity is perhaps the best example of a core Christian doctrine that is essential to the Great Tradition but never labeled by its historic name (“the Trinity”) in the Bible. To Trueman, if you ever use terms like “the Trinity” in an authoritative way (“true Christians have always believed in the Trinity”), you are being creedal. It’s better to acknowledge what sources (Nicaea and others) codified biblical teaching on the doctrine, rather than acting as if you’re drawing on the Bible alone for belief in the Trinity.

Since the early 20th century, the mantra “no creed but the Bible” has indeed been used by some theological innovators to justify departures from the Great Tradition. Such advocates have rejected everything from the Trinity to the Virgin Birth to the physical Resurrection in the name of anti-creedalism. In my tradition, modernizing Baptists often cited “soul competency” to argue that no one besides God could rightly judge an individual’s beliefs or actions.

In its worst forms, soul competency echoed the radical individualism of figures such as Thomas Jefferson, in which there was no such thing as “orthodoxy” and you could dispense with whatever parts of Scripture you wished. Few went as far as Jefferson did when he literally snipped out miracles to craft the “Jefferson Bible,” but the liberal interpretation of soul competency had similar implications. In recent years, liberals have been the most likely Baptists to tout “no creed but the Bible” as they jettisoned traditional biblical teachings on issues such as marriage and sexuality. Such liberal Christians will never accept Trueman’s call to confessionalism. Some liberal Protestants do still recite creeds, of course, but they see confessing “faith” as more significant than what the creeds themselves say.

So who is likely to adopt Trueman’s recommendations? Probably the churches that affirm the Bible’s authority but that have not given explicit attention to the confessions (whether from the patristic or Reformation era) shaping their beliefs. Take, for example, an evangelical pastor who sees the doctrine of the Trinity as essential but whose church does not explicitly attach itself to the Nicene Creed. If this pastor did include the recitation of the creed in his church’s order of worship, it would probably receive an approving response from much of the congregation. Other members might quibble based on legitimate Protestant confusion about how the creed relates to Scripture.

The pastor might allay such concerns by noting that Christians have perennially seen creeds and confessions as “concentrated deposits of tradition” and historic statements of what “Scripture teaches in a synthetic form,” as Trueman puts it. These creeds (Apostles’, Nicene, etc.) have stood the test of time. They are the opposite of fads. The churches employing them are confessing biblical belief via a longstanding statement shared by many Christians around the world and throughout history. The recitation of the Nicene Creed in a biblicist church might also bring to light anti-Trinitarian or other heretical views that certain members hold and that need to be corrected.

At best, a simple liturgical shift to creeds might remind church members that their faith is far sturdier than whatever has caused the latest electronic freakout of our expressivist culture. We can rest easy knowing that we are not inventing the faith in this generation. We are simply passing on the faith once delivered to the saints to the next generation, as generations before us have done. This steady cycle will go on, by God’s grace, until the Great Shepherd returns to gather his church.

COMMON CHRISTIAN CLICHÉS

Common Christian Clichés | WRETCHED TV Episode 2355

“God helps those who help themselves!” We hear these clichés all the time, but what are they really doing to true Christian doctrine?

TODAY’S BIBLE READING CHALLENGE:
  Nehemiah 9:22-10:39
  1 Corinthians 9:19-10:13
  Psalm 34:1-10
  Proverbs 21:13

Nehemiah 9:33 — The right perspective says, “Thou art just” and “We have done wickedly.”

Nehemiah 9:38 — Nehemiah makes another covenant with God on behalf of the people. Though we fail often, as did the children of Israel, we can renew our relationship with God each day. Brother Homsher of Neighborhood Bible Time referred to it as “Personal, Daily, Direct, Dedication Renewal.” We are a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1) so we need to get back on the altar!

Nehemiah 10:29-32 — Nehemiah might be considered a legalist. It had been generations since the people had committed (and followed) all the commandments of the LORD like not entering into marriages with the locals, obeying the Sabbath, obeying the year of Jubilee, following the temple taxes. Every single command, which regardless of what people today may say, is what God requires!

1 Corinthians 9:23 — Paul would sacrifice his rights “for the Gospel’s sake.” Will we? Hudson Taylor abandoned English dress to reduce barriers between him and the Chinese people.

His ship arrived in Shanghai, one of five “treaty ports” China had opened to foreigners following its first Opium War with England. Almost immediately Taylor made a radical decision (as least for Protestant missionaries of the day): he decided to dress in Chinese clothes and grow a pigtail (as Chinese men did). His fellow Protestants were either incredulous or critical.

1 Corinthians 10:4 — The Rock that was to be spoken to by Moses the second time was Christ (Numbers 20:8)!

1 Corinthians 10:10 — If you didn’t catch the examples of lust, idolatry, fornication, and tempting God, you should have caught the prohibition against murmuring!

1 Corinthians 10:13 — If you haven’t memorized this verse, do it today!

Psalm 34:7 — We saw what the Angel of the LORD did to Sennacherib’s massive army that went against Hezekiah. God will protect you just as fiercely!

Psalm 34:8 — Here’s another memory song from Earl Martin:

Proverbs 21:13 — Ask yourself this question, “If everyone in the church did exactly what I did, what kind of church would my church be?”

And I will strengthen them in the Lord: and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord. (Zechariah 10:12)

A solace for sick saints. They have grown faint, and they fear that they shall never rise from the bed of doubt and fear; but the Great Physician can both remove the disease and take away the weakness which has come of it. He will strengthen the feeble. This He will do in the best possible way, for it shall be “in Jehovah. ” Our strength is far better in God than in self. In the Lord it causes fellowship, in ourselves it would create pride. In ourselves it would be sadly limited, but in God it knows no bound.

When strength is given, the believer uses it. He walks up and down in the name of the Lord. What an enjoyment it is to walk abroad after illness, and what a delight to be strong in the Lord after a season of prostration! The Lord gives His people liberty to walk up and down and an inward leisure to exercise that liberty. He makes gentlemen of us: we are not slaves who know no rest and see no sights, but we are free to travel at our ease throughout Immanuel’s land.

Come, my heart, be thou no more sick and sorry; Jesus bids thee be strong and walk with God in holy contemplation. Obey His word of love.

Insightful Quotations by Warren W. Wiersbe – Part III | Bible Apologetics – A DAILY DEVOTIONAL

“The Christian who walks with the Lord and keeps constant communion with Him will see many reason for rejoicing and thanksgiving all day long.”1

“The ability to calm your soul and wait before God is one of the most difficult things in the Christian life. Our old nature is restless… the world around us is frantically in a hurry. But a restless heart usually leads to a reckless life.”

“We have little control over the circumstances of life. We can’t control the weather or the economy, and we can’t control what other people say about or do to us. There is only one area where we have control–we can rule the kingdom inside. The heart of every problem is the problem in the heart.”

“A good book is like a seed: it produces fruit that has in it seed for more fruit. It is not a picture on the wall; it is a window that invites us to wider horizons.”

“When it seems as if God is far away, remind yourself that He is near. Nearness is not a matter of geography. God is everywhere. Nearness is likeness. The more we become like the Lord, the nearer He is to us.”

“I will be satisfied to the extent that I see everything I have as a gift from God. Here is the truth: Everything you have – your money, talent, friendships, marriage, children, material possessions, health, home, bike, car, even the country you live in – is a gift from God that He had chosen out of His generous nature to give you.”

“Never doubt in the darkness what God has told you in the light.”

“You may think that you are insignificant in the great plan of God, but you are not. You are tremendously important to God—so much so that Jesus died for you, and the Holy Spirit lives in you. You may seem small in your own eyes, and this is good; because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. However, don’t let your humility become sin by making you believe you can do nothing for God. God can use you to help Him accomplish His will on this earth.”

“Yesterday God helped me, Today He’ll do the same. How long will this continue? Forever—praise His name!”

“Before we can minister to others, we must permit God to minister to us.”

“There is no substitute for an understanding mind. Satan can defeat the ignorant believer, but he cannot overcome the Christian who knows his Bible and understands the purposes of God.”

“A little boy was leading his sister up a mountain path and the way was not too easy. ‘Why, this isn’t a path at all,’ the little girl complained. ‘It’s all rocky and bumpy.’ And her brother replied, ‘Sure, the bumps are what you climb on.’ That’s a remarkable piece of philosophy.”

“At least in the world we know, it takes trials to make something beautiful and useful out of the raw materials of life. The student’s struggle with truth develops his intelligence; the athlete’s struggle with his records and his opponents helps to develop his muscles and coordination; the musician’s struggle with more difficult pieces develops his playing skill; and the soul’s struggle with the trials of life helps to build character.”

“Yield your heart and life to Jesus Christ. Be faithful to Him, no matter what men may do. The important thing is not the praise of men; it is the approval of God.”

“Ministry takes place when divine resources meet human needs through loving channels to the glory of God.”

“That this complex universe should appear by accident out of nothing from a ‘big bang’ is as probable as the works of Shakespeare resulting from an explosion in a printing plant.”

“People are so intoxicated by intellectual pride that they laugh at the simple message of the gospel presented by humble witnesses (1 Cor. 1:18–31). The prophet Amos was ejected from the king’s chapel because he was a simple farmer and not a member of the religious elite (Amos 7:10–17). Evangelist D. L. Moody was often laughed at because his speech was not polished, but God used him to bring many thousands to the Savior.”

“The world changes – circumstances change, we change – but God’s Word never changes.”

“Contentment is not escape from the battle, but rather an abiding peace and confidence in the midst of the battle.”

“Daniel gave all the glory to God; he took none of it for himself. There is no limit to what God will do for the believer who will let God have all the glory.”

“The devil tempts us to bring out the worst in us, but the Father tests us to bring out the best in us.”

“Never underestimate the importance of simply being physically present in the place God wants you. You may not be asked to perform some dramatic ministry, but simply being there is a ministry.”

“The Christian life is a pilgrimage from earth to heaven, and our task is to take as many as possible with us as we make this journey.”

“The secret of a happy life is to delight in duty. When duty becomes delight, then burdens become blessings.”

A “Retail Apocalypse” Is Gaining Momentum All Over America. Is Your Favorite Chain Closing Stores?
Why are retailers closing thousands of stores if the U.S. economy is in good shape? Of course the truth is that the U.S. economy is not in good shape at all. We Really Are Living In The End Times
Is it possible that Jesus specifically warned us about the times that we are living in nearly 2,000 years ago?  You may have noticed that global events have started to spiral out of control lately.  Normally, the summer is a period when things are relatively quiet.  As far as the news industry  is concerned, August is supposed to be the quietest month of all because so much of the world is on vacation.  But that definitely has not been the case in 2024.

Politics

  • TIME glorifies Harris despite interview snub: On Monday, TIME magazine released its latest issue featuring Kamala Harris on the cover with the title, “Her Moment.” The accompanying puff piece not only fawns over her but claims the Democrat Party “underestimated” her and ridiculously asserts she hadn’t been given an opportunity as vice president to “showcase her talents.” Really? Try as Democrats might to whitewash it, Harris was assigned the role of border czar, after which she promptly disappeared, laughing off any need to visit the southern border. But even more telling is the fact that Harris never even “showcased her talents” to TIME. In fact, she rebuffed the magazine’s request for an interview. Instead, TIME was relegated to talking with the likes of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and anti-Second Amendment activist David Hogg, who opined, “Elections come down to vibes, and Kamala has got the vibes right now.” Wow. So much insight. Meanwhile, journalist Glenn Greenwald cogently observed, “The way the US corporate media transformed Kamala Harris from a national embarrassment to a transformative pioneer overnight — without even pretending to care about anything that she thinks or believes — is a powerful testament to how potent the science of propaganda is.”
  • Harris’s ABC News demand, explained: Last week, Donald Trump agreed to debate Kamala Harris on ABC News on September 10. Trump initially objected to debating Harris on ABC, accurately accusing the Leftmedia network of political bias. He’s also currently suing the outlet for defamation. Harris has so far refused to entertain other media outfits hosting the debate but says she’s “happy to have that conversation.” Her reason for insistence on only doing a debate on ABC looks to be more than mere political posturing in an effort to paint Trump as fearful of debating her. One of Harris’s longtime friends, Dana Walden, who has donated to her political campaigns since 2003, happens to be a top corporate executive at Disney, which owns ABC. This clearly presents a conflict of interest, which the network has sought to dismiss by asserting the only involvement Walden has pertains to budgets and staff size. Yet ABC is listed under Walden’s leadership, according to her official biography on Disney’s website. To make matters worse, overseeing ABC’s political coverage is Rick Klein, who reports to Debra OConnell, the president of News Group and Networks at Disney, who reports to Walden.
  • KJP word-salads Harris’s record: There is a scene in the iconic comedy “Office Space” in which the two Bobs interviewing an employee regarding the specifics of his job are seeking clarity and eventually ask, “What would you say you do here?” A similar scene played out yesterday in the White House press room when Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked to name a “specific policy” that Kamala Harris has achieved as vice president. KJP responded by saying that all of Joe Biden’s “historic, unprecedented achievements have been done together” with Harris. The reporter pressed again, asking, “There’s no specific policy; it’s a comprehensive whole?” To which KJP replied, “I would say it’s a comprehensive whole. The Biden-Harris accomplishments are the Biden-Harris accomplishments. She’s played a role, whether it is being on the floor of the Senate, getting really important legislation to pass through, or being in a room with the president and trying to figure out how to move forward strategically with a policy or how to make tough decisions on behalf of the American people, she’s been there.” So, does Harris own all of Biden’s failed record?
  • Satire: “I will fix things if you vote me into office,” says woman currently in office (Babylon Bee)
  • RFK Jr. misses NY ballot: A judge in New York has ordered that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. be removed from the state’s ballot. According to New York Supreme Court Justice Christina Ryba, a house that Kennedy had listed as his residence in New York was “a false statement requiring the invalidation” of his petition to appear on the ballot. The issue of Kennedy’s residence is tied to his choice of running mate, Nicole Shannahan, who is a resident of California. Kennedy also has a home in California, where he lives with his wife. The 12th Amendment bars a presidential candidate and running mate from being from the same state. Therefore, this ruling could have an impact for Kennedy in other states where he is on the ballot. RFK promised to appeal the ruling, stating, “The Democrats are showing contempt for democracy. They aren’t confident they can win at the ballot box, so they are trying to stop voters from having a choice. We will appeal and we will win.” The DNC raised this suit against Kennedy in an effort to keep him off the ballot.
  • Squadster faces a tough primary challenge: Will the Jew-hating congresswoman who pledged her allegiance to Somalia, and who married her own brother in order to skirt U.S. immigration laws, and whose campaign paid $2.8 million to a firm co-owned by her husband finally get shown the door by her constituents? We’ll know soon enough, as today is primary day in Minnesota, and Ilhan Omar is trying to keep from joining the ranks of fellow Squadsters Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush, both of whom lost primary challenges this cycle. Omar is the favorite in her race, though, while polls showed each of her colleagues losing their respective races. Still, Omar’s challenger, Don Samuels, narrowly lost to her two years ago. And, as Fox News reports, “He’s seen a surge in his fundraising and in volunteers to his campaign in the week since Bush’s defeat.” If voters are unwilling to boot this blight from Congress, then they deserve every bit of disgrace and embarrassment that come their way.
  • Mar-a-Lago lawsuit: Donald Trump is poised to file a $100 million lawsuit against Joe Biden’s Department of Justice for its unprecedented raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate two summers ago. Trump’s legal team says that the raid was nothing more than political persecution and that it constitutes “tortious conduct by the United States against President Trump.” As the New York Post reports, Trump is “accusing Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray of having engaged in ‘malicious political prosecution aimed at affecting an electoral outcome to prevent President Trump from being re-elected,’” adding that “Garland and Wray applied ‘inconsistent standards’ and were guilty of a ‘clear dereliction of constitutional principles’” in the raid. The Justice Department has 180 days to respond.

  • The U.S. wages a hidden campaign against a resurgent Islamic State (WSJ)
  • Navy warship production flounders: ABC News reports that our Navy’s warship production has hit a 25-year low, and, “Combined with shifting defense priorities, last-minute design changes and cost overruns, it has put the U.S. behind China in the number of ships at its disposal — and the gap is widening.” Another major problem is labor, or the lack thereof, as the industry struggles to hire and retain new workers while an aging shipbuilding workforce moves into retirement and takes “decades of experience with them.” One longtime naval analyst says our nation’s shipbuilding efforts are in “a terrible state,” adding, “I don’t see a fast, easy way to get out of this problem. It’s taken us a long time to get into it.” Maybe it’s just us, but perhaps a new commander-in-chief could make a difference.

  • Treasury Secretary Yellen says U.S. debt load is in “reasonable place” (!!!) if it remains at this level (CNBC)

American Spirit

  • Brittney Griner’s newfound perspective: If you watched the women’s gold-medal-deciding basketball game between the U.S. and France, you saw a mostly bench-bound Brittney Griner watch as her teammates overcame a stiff challenge and some serious home cooking from the refs to extend their record Olympic basketball winning streak to 61 games. But afterward, during the medal ceremony, you saw something that you might not have expected: tears. They were streaming down Griner’s face as the national anthem played, and they marked yet another example of her remarkable evolution from a young woman who once seemed to disdain her country to a more contemplative one who here held her right hand over her heart in support of it. We suspect her nine-month incarceration in a Russian prison on marijuana charges might’ve had something to do with it.

FEATURED ANALYSIS

Musk Interviews Trump and Riles Harris

Douglas Andrews

Elon Musk is one guy. Let’s remember that.

Admittedly, he’s a remarkably rich and powerful guy, but he’s still one guy. So when Kamala Harris complains to her supporters that the world’s most influential African American is “a lackey for Team MAGA” and that he’s “using his vast fortune and broad reach to try to control our democracy,” well, wethinks she doth protest too much. How dare a tech titan turn his back on her, huh?

After all, Donald Trump may have Elon Musk on his side, but Kamala Harris has everyone else: the mainstream media, Hollywood, the unions, the schools, the colleges and universities, the foundations, the increasingly woke mega-corporations like Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta, and the list goes on.

Nevertheless, while Musk was interviewing Donald Trump last night on his X platform, Harris was holding out her tin cup, exhorting her supporters to “chip in $25 now” so that she can “respond to their lies.”

Harris wasn’t content to merely assail Musk, though. In a separate X post last night, she pounced on Le Bête Orange: “Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024.”

There’s a word for a missive like this: projection.

Beyond that, while Kamala kvetches about Musk and Trump exercising their First Amendment rights, she won’t let anyone else turn that same First Amendment on her. Indeed, it’s been 23 days since Harris began holding “our democracy” hostage by refusing to sit for so much as a single friendly interview with even a pseudo-journalistic toady. Thus, as she continues to execute her Basement 2.0 strategy, she leaves the American people wondering about her record of achievement as our nation’s border czar, and about her take on the issues more broadly, and about the dizzying array of flip-flops that have come to define her — from border enforcement to fracking to single-payer healthcare to an “assault weapons” ban.

To be fair, though, Harris did hold a 77-second micro-presser on the tarmac last week, during which she informed an eagerly awaiting world, “I’ve talked to my team. I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month.”

Kamala’s complaints about free speech come in the wake of Musk’s interview with Donald Trump — an interview that was knocked offline by what Musk called “a massive DDOS attack.” This left a lot of listeners in the lurch for around 30 minutes while Musk’s X team worked to shut the attack down. “Worst case,” he told them, “we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.”

As the New York Post reports, “More than 1.2 million users of Musk’s social media platform tuned in to the interview … and heard the Republican nominee for president and the tech titan put their heads together on immigration, foreign policy, inflation, government spending and energy issues. Trump, 78, also lobbed several barbs at the Harris-Walz ticket after Musk, 53, noted that the X Spaces event was “aimed at open-minded, independent voters just trying to make up their mind” with less than three months to go before Election Day.“

The Daily Signal’s Fred Lucas listed seven takeaways from the event, which ran the gamut from a government efficiency commission to Trump’s greater sense of the Almighty in the wake of his near-assassination last month.

Very early this morning (or very late last night, depending on your perspective), Musk made clear that despite the event’s technical difficulties, it had generated plenty of interest: “Between 7:47 PM and 10:47 PM ET, President Donald Trump’s Space post received 73 million views. During the same period, there were 4 million posts about Elon Musk and President Trump’s conversation on 𝕏, generating a total of 998 million views.”

Counting caveats apply, of course, but it’s safe to say that a lot of folks are interested in the growing partnership between Musk and Trump — a partnership that includes both political and commercial components, as evidenced by Trump’s nuanced and freedom-based take on electric vehicles, and which represents the biggest piece of a not insignificant base of support that Trump has cultivated among a handful of free-market tech titans and entrepreneurs.

As for the attack that interrupted the Musk-Trump interview, it’ll be interesting to see who claims responsibility for it — or, barring that, who is found to be responsible for it, as such an attack represents a naked act of election interference.

SHORT CUTS

Say That Again … Slowly

Yellow Journalism

“No other Democratic nominee has taken a position this tough on border security since Bill Clinton.” —The New York Times regarding Kamala Harris

Circling the Wagons

“The fact that a veteran [JD Vance] wants to go out and disparage another veteran [Tim Walz] just goes against certainly everything I learned during my time in service. … The fact that they have to go back to find a clip from 2018 to find the one time that he slipped up … it’s kind of an exception that proves the rule in terms of how hard you have to look to find Tim Walz saying anything that isn’t precise and accurate.” —Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg

Spin Doctor

“A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic — you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say [something] … and I thought it’d be a real distraction.” —Joe Biden

“[Trump’s] a genuine danger to American security.” —Joe Biden

The BIG Lies

“Look at what we were able to do. We created 16 million jobs. Real, new jobs.” —Joe Biden

Political Futures

“Kamala has reversed the usual dynamic for getting considered a JFK- or Obama-level political talent: She is great because she’s the Democratic nominee; she’s not the Democratic nominee because she’s great. … Coach Walz, as Kamala dubbed her running mate Tim Walz, may have told his football players at some point that ‘there’s no substitute for going out and earning it.’ Kamala 2024 is a testament to the fact that, actually, there is.” —Rich Lowry

“Trump supporters who insist everyone needs to swallow their pride, stop complaining and get on board can say that from being on board already. But plenty of voters want to be wooed and know, from a practical point of view, Trump needs them. They do not need him. He must persuade them. Bullying them will only make them stay home or vote for the opposition.” —Erick Erickson

Re: The Left

“The 2028 Summer Olympic Games are going to be in Los Angeles. Is this what we have to look forward to — more in-your-face disdain for women’s sports and more IOC-sanctioned beating up of women by males in the boxing ring? Let’s hope this isn’t the case. But considering it’s being held in California, the likelihood is very high that progressives there will try to top Paris’s wokeness.” —Emmy Griffin

Newfound Perspective

“Brittney Griner went from kneeling for the national anthem to standing proud [at the Olympics] with tears streaming down her face.” —OutKick

OXYMORON: CHRISTIANS FOR KAMALA

Karine Jean-Pierre Says Biden “Absolutely” Endorses Trump’s “No Tax on Tips” Proposal Even Though the Harris-Biden IRS is Cracking Down on Tipped Workers (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Joe Biden endorsed Trump’s ‘no tax on tips’ proposal after Kamala Harris shamelessly stole his idea.

The media is covering Trump’s ‘no tax on tips’ proposal a lot more favorable now that Kamala Harris stole the idea.

As much as you hate the media, it’s not enough.

AP’s Zeke Miller asked KJP if Biden would sign a bill banning tax on tips.

“Over the weekend, Vice President said she would — she followed former President Donald Trump in saying she would support a proposal that would not tax hit wages. If such a — if a similar bill made its way to the President of the United States — President Biden — would he sign that? That’s something — not something he’s endorsed before,” AP’s Zeke Miller asked KJP.

Karine Jean-Pierre said Joe Biden would totally support the “no tax on tips” proposal even though he signed legislation to send IRS agents after tipped workers.

“Oh, absolutely. Look, this is something that the president supports. He supports eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers while also raising minimum wage and preventing the wealthy from — from gaming the system and if you think about what the president has talked about the last three and a half years, making sure that we have an economy that works for all, not leaving anybody behind, an economy that’s built from the bottom up, middle out. The President has been fighting and the Vice President is fighting to do just that,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.

WATCH:

Recall that Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to let the IRS track workers’ tips to be taxed!

“Two years ago today, I proudly cast the tie-breaking vote to pass our Inflation Reduction Act,” Kamala Harris boasted last week.

The so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ added more than 80,000 new IRS agents to the agency to track tipped workers and $600 Venmo payments.

“On this vote, the yay’s are 50, the nay’s are 50. The Senate being equally divided, the vice president votes in the affirmative and the bill as amended is passed,” Harris said in the August 7, 2022, video.

10 Clear Advantages Of Sending Your Kid To Government Schools | Babylon Bee

Public schools are getting a lot of bad press these days — sometimes it seems like everyone is dog-piling on them for harmless little things like failing to teach basic skills, blatant indoctrination, or transitioning children to other genders without parental consent.

But did you know that there are actually many distinct advantages to sending your kid to government schools? We at the Babylon Bee have compiled this list of the most important things your kids can’t learn anywhere but public school — take a look!

  1. Your kids can learn the proper technique for stuffing dollar bills in a transgender stripper thong: Just remember, George Washington’s face always faces away from you.
  2. Your kids will learn the proper amount of hatred to have towards different people depending on their skin color and level of oppression: That’s a real win for anti-racism.
  3. Free watermelon-flavored condoms: Free and watermelon? You can’t get those at Walgreens.
  4. You’ll get some sort of return for your sky-high property taxes: Hey, if you’re paying for it, you might as well use it.
  5. Your kids will never be exposed to bigoted religious superstition like the Ten Commandments: Separation of Church and State achieved.
  6. Your kids will be taught to look up to real-life heroes like Mao Zhedong and Harvey Milk: They’ll be eligible for the Red Youth by third grade, too.
  7. Your kids will become experts at making crude protest signs to wave around at the state capitol whenever Soros pays them to: Homeschooling can’t teach that.
  8. Your kids will learn who owned the land under the gymnasium before Christopher Columbus ruined everything: The Puppashwoot people demand justice.
  9. You can look forward to meeting your child’s new groomer on Back To School Nights: This year’s edition has a neckbeard and is grossly overweight.
  10. You don’t have to lift a finger to raise your kids because the government will do it for you: The government always does a great job!

Don’t let your kids miss out on great stuff like this. There’s still time to enroll them before school starts — go on, get!

NOT SATIRE: Students across our nation are being cheated from attaining a quality education by misguided bureaucrats, corrupt teachers’ unions, and anti-American activists infiltrating our schools. Political leaders are weaponizing diversity, equity, and inclusion directives to divide and dumb down our students and communities. Schools across our nation are touting “gender fluid” restrooms, rejecting meritocracy, and neglecting to teach civics education. Millions of students are subjected to learning alongside unacceptable and unsafe behavior, while teachers’ hands are tied from making needed changes. Enough is enough. We must restore structured learning environments with academic standards, teach young people about civil discourse instead of dividing them with “equity” initiatives, and protect parents’ fundamental rights regarding notification policies about their children. Parents, educators, and concerned citizens must fight back. Sign the petition to stop “woke” education in our schools.

Global religious freedom harmed by government-fostered lies, USCIRF reports | Christian Heritage News

By Diana Chandler – Posted at Baptist Press:WASHINGTON (BP) – When Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the invasion was to “denazify” Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is Jewish, is a Nazi hellbent on committing genocide against Russians and Russian-speaking Ukrainians, Putin said.

In Iran, the government regularly disseminates misinformation on state-linked media channels about religious minorities, including statements that Christian converts from Islam are part of a “Zionist” network that poses a national security risk.

China uses several tactics to “manipulate global opinion about its ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity targeting predominately Muslim Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in the Xinjiang region,” including favorable fake grassroots campaigns on social media and fabricated positive news stories, according to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Such government-fostered misinformation and disinformation are hindering religious liberty in several places globally, USCIRF said in an August factsheet, and spreading societal religious persecution including violence.

USCIRF defined misinformation as a claim that is false or inaccurate, and disinformation as a false or inaccurate claim that the government deliberately disseminates.

“Increasingly, governments are promoting both misinformation and disinformation through campaigns targeting religious communities and by denying the existence of official policies targeting such groups,” USCIRF said Aug. 8 in releasing the report, “Misinformation and Disinformation: Implications for Freedom of Religion or Belief.”

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s Campaign in Complete Meltdown Over Elon Musk’s Space with President Donald Trump | The Gateway Pundit

Former President Donald Trump held a groundbreaking interview with tech mogul Elon Musk on Monday.

The interview was set to commence at 8 PM ET but faced a mysterious delay due to a massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack that pushed the start time to approximately 8:45 PM ET.

The origins of this cyber disruption remain unclear.

Musk addressed the situation on social media, stating, “There appears to be a massive DDOS attack on X. Working on shutting it down. Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.”

Musk added, “We tested the system with 8 million concurrent listeners earlier today.”

Emmy-nominated investigative reporter Catherine Herridge wrote on X, “DDOS is a distributed denial of service attack. This is a cyber attack designed to cripple a network resource (server) by overwhelming it with traffic and making it unavailable for users. Usually a temporary + malicious attempt to disrupt normal traffic. A forensic review can, but not always, reveal source/origination. For investigators, timing can be a tell.”

Despite the attack, the space managed to draw in 1.2 million listeners at the moment.

In the wake of this monumental event, emails from Harris and Walz’s campaign teams reveal a state of utter panic.

They sent an email with the subject, “The two worst people you know are live this evening.”

They accused Elon Musk of controlling the democracy in America.

“Right now, Elon Musk is interviewing Donald Trump live on Twitter (we’re not calling it ‘X’). It’s not enough that Musk has pledged to donate millions of dollars to help reelect Trump. He’s using his purchased platform—one of the largest social media sites in the world—to spread Trump’s unhinged and hateful agenda to millions of users.”

The email continued with an urgent plea for donations: “If that’s all you need to hear, chip in $25 now to help Kamala and Tim have the resources to respond to their lies. Otherwise, let us remind you why this is a big deal. The richest person in the world is a lackey for Team MAGA. Musk already ruined Twitter by allowing hate speech and disinformation to flood the platform. Now, Musk is using his vast fortune and broad reach to try to control our democracy.”

Tulsi Gabbard Taking Legal Action Against Biden Administration for Putting Her on Terrorist Watch List (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Ever since Tulsi Gabbard left the Democrat party and began speaking out against the Biden administration and the military industrial complex, she has had a target on her back.

It recently came to her attention, through whistleblowers, that she has been marked under the Quiet Skies program, which means that she has essentially been put on a terrorist watch list.

This is a woman who not only is a former member of congress, but is also a U.S. Military veteran. It is disgusting that she is being treated this way.

Now she is taking legal action against the Biden administration over this. Good for her.

From Hot Air:

There is absolutely no reason for Gabbard to be part of the “Quiet Skies” program. None. Not one.

Quiet Skies is extremely resource-intensive. Not only do people on the list get enhanced scrutiny and searches, but they are also followed by police at the airports, and armed Air Marshals follow them on flights because the target is deemed a security risk.

She was put on the Quiet Skies list the day after she appeared on Fox News criticizing the Deep State…

In the video below from Twitter/X Gabbard says:

“My own government, my president, my commander-in-chief is targeting me as a potential domestic terrorist, the closest word that comes to mind is a complete sense of betrayal.”

“After serving over 21 years and continuing to serve in our nation’s military, my own government has labeled and is targeting me directly now as a domestic terrorist.”

“They’re using people like the air marshals as weapons and pawns to target their political opponents.”

“Of course, there’s no explanation given, which is why we are taking legal recourse.”

“Obviously, I’ve been very outspoken about the dangers of the Biden-Harris administration to our democracy and to our freedom and to our national security. This is what happens as a result.”

Watch the video:

It’s just insane that she is being forced to do this.

Things Just Got Even More “Interesting” In The Middle East And In Ukraine | The Economic Collapse

Most people don’t seem to realize this yet, but we have entered a time of global war.  While millions in the western world are partying, an apocalyptic all-out war is threatening to erupt in the Middle East and Ukraine has launched a surprise invasion of Russia.  Needless to say, seeing Ukrainian troops come pouring across Russia’s lightly defended border in the Kursk region came as quite a shock to Vladimir Putin and his generals.  The Ukrainians have decided to take things to the next level, and the Russians are beyond angry.  Meanwhile, Israel is bracing for a “large scale” Iranian attack at any time…

Israel is expecting a ‘large scale’ Iranian attack and Hezbollah has evacuated its Beirut headquarters in anticipation of an all-out war with Israel, according to reports.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant told US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that Iran was making preparations for a large-scale military attack on Israel during a phone call on Sunday, Axios News reporter Barack Ravid wrote on X.

The planned attack could happen ‘within days’, according to two sources who spoke to CNN. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has evacuated its headquarters in Beirut, according to Lebanese news outlet Al Joumhouria – further raising concerns.

We have been waiting for Iran to strike Israel since the end of July, but so far such an attack has not materialized.

Many were hoping that cooler heads had prevailed in Iran.

Sadly, it appears that an attack is still coming, and Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant is warning that Iran and Hezbollah “are threatening to harm us in a way they haven’t done in the past”.

That sounds rather ominous.

If there is an attack, it will almost certainly be more substantial than what we witnessed last time around.

For the moment, however, the Iranians seem to be enjoying keeping everyone in suspense

“There may be no attack at all, or there could be one tonight,” an Iranian regime insider told the Financial Times. “Waiting for death is more difficult than death itself.”

“Iran has launched a psychological warfare campaign to keep Israel’s military, security, and logistical capabilities on edge, denying residents of the occupied territories any sense of calm,” the insider added.

Maybe they will keep playing this game for a while.

Or maybe they will attack tonight.

We just don’t know.

There have been reports of missile launchers being moved into position.

But that could just be more of their mind games.

The U.S. is certainly not taking any chances.

According to John Kirby, the U.S. is operating under the assumption that an Iranian attack could come as early as this week…

The U.S. is preparing for Iran or its proxies to attack Israel as soon as this week, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby.

He confirmed Monday that the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the region and said that President Joe Biden had talked with European allies about support for Israel.

If the Iranians attack, the U.S. will defend Israel.

A guided missile sub is being deployed to the Middle East, and the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group has been ordered to “sail more quickly to the area”

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered a guided missile submarine to the Middle East and told the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to sail more quickly to the area, as the U.S. said Monday it believes Iran or its proxies could launch a strike against Israel as soon as this week.

The moves, announced by the Defense Department Sunday, come as the U.S. and other allies push for Israel and Hamas to achieve a cease-fire agreement that could help calm soaring tensions in the region after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut.

I will be watching the USS Abraham Lincoln very closely.

If all-out war erupts, it could become a prime target for either the Iranians or Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine has taken an unexpected turn.

The Ukrainians have been slowly but surely losing ground in eastern Ukraine, and so they decided to do something dramatic to change the momentum of the war.

Nobody expected the Ukrainians to invade Russian territory, and so the Russians were completely surprised when that actually happened

Ukraine’s shock incursion across the Russian border into Kursk Oblast may force important strategic decisions on Moscow as President Vladimir Putin’s troops are taken as prisoners of war and supply lines are threatened. The Ukrainian attack took Russian forces by surprise, according to one U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukraine’s cross-border gambit has allowed Kyiv to seize the battlefield initiative, long held by Russian forces who were able to dictate the time and place of fighting and force Ukrainian troops to expend manpower and equipment on defensive operations.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of the importance of removing these Ukrainian forces from Russian territory during a televised appearance

President Vladimir Putin ordered his army on Monday to “dislodge” Ukrainian troops who have entered Russian territory as authorities said more than 120,000 people had been evacuated away from the fighting.

Kyiv launched a surprise offensive into Russia’s western Kursk region last Tuesday, capturing more than two dozen settlements in the most significant cross-border attack on Russian soil since World War II.

“One of the obvious goals of the enemy is to sow discord, strife, intimidate people, destroy the unity and cohesion of Russian society,” Putin told a televised meeting with government officials.

The Ukrainians will not be able to hold Russian territory for long.

So why did they do this?

Personally, my opinion is that the Ukrainians are trying to get the Russians so angry that they will decide to use tactical nuclear weapons.

If Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons, NATO will be forced to intervene, and then we really will have a nightmare scenario on our hands.

This conflict with Russia is one of “the 3 wars of the apocalypse” that I keep warning my readers about.

The coming all-out war in the Middle East is another one.

All of the chess pieces are moving into position, and it won’t be too long before we witness global chaos on a grand scale.

Here’s What You’re Not Going to Do… | Study – Grow – Know

Listen to this article

Daily, I receive emails from numerous sources explaining just how bad things are going to get and for many folks, are already. There are so many opinions out there that it has become way too difficult to know what’s truth, what may be truth and what’s fiction. Certainly, on one hand, there is nothing new in the world, while on the other hand, for most of us this is the first time things have escalated to this level in the world so it can be disconcerting and worrying.

We’ve got the following (a partial list):

  • Wars and rumors of more wars
  • Stock market problems causing monetary problems
  • Inflation that doesn’t appear to have an end in sight
  • Constant murmurings of another pandemic coming down the pipeline
  • Wars on farmers and food
  • Environmentalists striking back and winning in court
  • Migrants running amok in the UK, India, Nigeria and other places
  • Potential civil wars breaking out all over
  • Marxism gaining a serious edge in the USA in spite of the Constitution
  • Push toward digital IDs that will create a digital prison for everyone

I know I didn’t hit on everything but I probably don’t need to go on. Each person can readily add their own issues to that constantly growing list. But here’s the thing. Evil has always been in this world since the fall of humanity. Because it seems like the world wants to focus on all the evil that’s happening now, it’s always in our faces. They seem to want us to be preoccupied with worry over the things that are happening in society that we can do nothing about.

As I’ve noted before, what we should be doing is not focusing on the myriad of problems occurring in society. Be aware to a point, certainly, but instead, we should be focusing on our relationship with God and family. Sometimes things happen in life that cause us to look elsewhere and not at all the upheaval. The upheaval will always be here until the Lord returns. Every generation will suffer through things that the previous generation or the one after that current generation may not. Yet again, it seems like every generation has its problems that need to be addressed. So the choice becomes either focusing on the things you can do nothing at all about or focusing on the things that we do have at least some control over.

A good friend of ours just passed away. We have been friends with her and her husband for 38 years. We spent a lot of time together and enjoyed each other’s company in many things. Even after we moved from California, we kept in touch and got together with them several times, when they were living in Boston and then Florida. They lived an interesting life. He did very well in the line of work he was involved in and retired early. They bought a huge sailing boat and spent a year on it sailing up the east coast from Florida to Massachusetts. It was the best time of their life together because they could literally do what they wanted to do.

However, the wife contracted cancer 15 months ago. We received a text from them with a video where the wife said she was going to defeat her cancer. Everyone initially thinks and says that because they’re not really feeling the negative effects of their cancer yet. They aren’t totally fatigued, in pain or spending their days in bed, etc. But as time progressed, her cancer got worse and she underwent radiation and chemo. Eventually, her cancer went into remission. Unfortunately, it came back very quickly with a vengeance and they diagnosed her with “chronic cancer.” She took as many chemo treatments as she could stand after that.

In May my wife texted her and received this response:

I have had three chemos so far.  This week has been rough.  I am in a lot of pain.  Tomorrow I am getting fluids drained from my belly.  I look like I am 6 months pregnant.  🤣😂🤣Tomorrow I will be slim and trim with a lot less pain.  I will have as many chemos as the body can take as long as it’s keeping the cancer at bay.  I have a CT scan on Tuesday and then an appointment with the oncologist on Friday to go over the results.  Sadly, we found out that since the cancer returned so quickly I am considered a chronic cancer patient. 😩 But I am still hoping for a healing miracle if it’s God‘s will of course 🙏🏽

You cannot read that and not feel empathy for what she is going through even if you’ve never dealt with cancer before. That was several months ago. However, we learned last night from her husband that after 2 1/2 weeks in home hospice, she passed. When someone you personally know, are close to and younger passes from this life to next, it is jarring. It makes you stop and consider the true brevity of life.

We all knew it was coming but when it arrives it’s still difficult to deal with. It has the benefit though of helping us to refocus because we understand once again at that point what is truly worthwhile. Please pray for her husband who understandably is having a very difficult time coping.

We can focus on the problems in this world and there are many. But aside from praying about them what can we do to affect any real change? Not much. Those problems are not unknown to God nor is He powerless to do anything about them. If things do not change, that means that God has decreed/allowed it.

The world is becoming more wicked. Yesterday I saw a video of the aftermath of an entire Hindu family murdered without mercy – parents and children – allegedly by Muslims in Bangladesh. Radicalized Muslims are rising throughout the world to create a final caliphate. They believe this is their mission.

We all know the troubles experienced in the UK right now. Though migrants walk around open carrying knives, machetes, large sticks and hammers setting upon those opposed to illegal immigration, the police do nothing against Muslim perpetrators. Instead they go after anyone who even peacefully protests against illegals or a person who posts “mean tweets” on social networks. Truly, people are actually being arrested for what they say. I noticed the new VP pick for Kamala has stated the exact opposite of the truth regarding the First Amendment; that there is no guarantee we can say whatever we like. His Marxist intentions are becoming exceedingly clear.

But are the migrants in UK creating civil strife actually UN soldiers sent there to change the face of UK society? Is that why the UK police essentially leave them alone, but come down hard on peaceful protestors protesting illegal immigration? People are starting to think there’s something behind this that is not being told.

Personally, I would not put it past our “dear leaders” and globalists around the world to do something like this in order to bring about the change they believe is needed to usher in their “great reset.” We know we mean nothing to them and are simply in the way of what they want to achieve with a “great reset” or final world order.

But again, what can we change? Nothing really. We can use discernment to avoid problems with the authorities where things will be stacked against us. Fortunately, we don’t have the anti-free speech rules in the USA as they do in the UK and Canada, but when push comes to shove, globalists are not going to ignore America. In fact, the installment of Kamala and Waltz (if that actually happens), will give globalists a leg up on deleting the First and Second Amendments.

All of this is certainly in keeping with what former KGB Staff Member In Charge of Psychological Warfare and Propaganda Yuri Bezmenov has stated decades ago. They mean to destroy the USA (and other western nations), and do so from within.

But of course there is something far bigger than anything Satan or his followers can throw at us and try to achieve. We need to realize God doesn’t need us begging to change things. He’s already in control and has never lost control. What is happening is similar to what happened in Israel’s day during the prophet Jeremiah’s adult life.

Throughout the Book of Jeremiah we read God’s pronouncements of judgment on the nation of Israel. He makes promises that He keeps. Looking at the landscape today, I doubt seriously that God can be too happy with the visible Church. Consider how many denominations have gone thoroughly wayward and how often leaders in those denominations push or pull their congregations to places that God warns His people not to go.

During Jeremiah’s day as a young man who was also a prophet of God, he was raised up to warn Israel about the huge problems they faced with God because of their continued rejection of God and His commands. Oh, like many today, they still played the “religious” game, thinking that they could literally worship any number of gods during the week and then on the Sabbath, bring the required sacrifices to God to cover themselves. It wasn’t working. God wasn’t impressed and through Jeremiah, God told them all about what He saw continually and didn’t like. It’s pitiful to read just how bad the Israelites lowered themselves and then thought that God didn’t see any of it, so they were fine as long as they went through the motions God demanded. This is not to say that every Israelite was a complete hypocrite because God has always kept for Himself a remnant of believers in Israel.

It gets so bad in Israel that the Israelites get to the point of wanting to kill Jeremiah because of what he was telling them. Though his words were given to him by God Himself, the people did not want to hear it. In fact, they told him he needed to stop speaking to them about it. Eventually, they wanted to kill him and tried but God intervened (Jeremiah 11).

Reading through Jeremiah is so sad. He was just doing what God commissioned him to do. Because of that, he was ridiculed, threatened, stood against, treated cruelly at times, and generally was seen as a pariah. At one point, he wished his mother’s womb had been his grave (Jeremiah 20:17). Yet, he knew God directed his life. Imagine the pain of having to tell Israel’s leaders what God was going to do based on their rebellion against God. Read Lamentations for more detail.

I was reading a recent substack by Pablo Frascini. [1] I’d highly recommend reading it. He covers a variety of subjects:

  • Israel, War
  • The Economy
  • Prepping

He talks of Israel being placed in a corner. They were attacked by terrorists (Hamas), on October 7 of last year. They chose to defend themselves aggressively against those terrorists and anyone who joins in with them. Nearly every nation and the UN stands against Israel. Rarely, if ever, is the original massacre of over 1200 innocent Jewish people mentioned. Instead, the UN and others constantly harp about the “children” in schools that Israel destroys. Never mind that those schools were destroyed in the early morning hours way before any children would have been there and the only people killed were Hamas and/or Hezbollah terrorists.

Frascini also talks about the economy and of course, it’s not doing well. In fact, for many people in the USA alone, they can’t even live from paycheck to paycheck. They are literally drowning in their debt and the government has done nothing but increase the burden.

Pablo believes that any “realignment” of t he global economy will occur, but the bulk of it will occur after the Rapture. Of course, this makes sense to me because if you stop to imagine millions of people gone in an instant and the havoc it creates in that wake, what better wake-up call is there for the world to realize they need to fill that void with something? Frascini believes the recent stock market downturn was caused by global murmuring regarding a breakout war between Israel and Arab countries. Interestingly enough, he also believes there will be some sort of de-escalation (obviously before Ezekiel 38-39 breaks out). On that note, Pastor JD Farag has an interesting opinion as well concerning the Northern Invasion war that is yet to occur in his sermon, “Urgent Prophecy Update… – Sunday, August 11th, 2024“. [2]

Regardless, whatever happens, we can be sure that the mainstream media and many within the prophecy industry want to continue to gin up the anxiety. Again, I can do nothing to change the course of this world, America or in the state in which I live. It’s far beyond my pay grade. All of that rests in the Lord’s powerful hands and infinite wisdom and mercy.

I wonder if it is enough to simply live our lives to the best of our ability, leaning heavily on His everlasting arms to get us through? We can only do so much can’t we? We cannot change the course of predetermined future history. We cannot add an inch to our height. We cannot change anyone else’s opinion about anything.

Please consider what the prophet Jeremiah went through by reading that entire book. He consistently uttered the words that God gave him to say. He was met with ridicule, hatred, death threats and more because he deigned to do what God wanted him to do. This is our lot as well and if the world doesn’t hate you (or hates you very little), it could be you’re not doing things correctly. We’ll talk more about this in an upcoming article with Jeremiah as our background when we discuss what it actually means to know God.

In the meantime, might I suggest that you simply do what you can do for yourself, leaving all the rest to God. If you have extra cash to be able to stock up on perishables (including vitamins and other supplements since they usually have a two-to-four year shelf life), then do that. If you cannot do that, do you really believe God will ignore you, not hear you and not provide for you? He knows your circumstances better than you do.

Let me leave you with Jeremiah 17:7-8 as a form of encouragement.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes, But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
