Isaiah 28:15-16 — Note the contrast. Even though we’re in the prophetic books, it’s really poetry. The imagery of a human boast as a “covenant with death” and an “agreement with hell” versus “a sure foundation” is striking. There are only two sides; it’s time to choose which one you want to be on!
Isaiah 28:18 — Remember yesterday (Isaiah 25:28) where death for the believer is swallowed up in victory? Today, the covenant with death for the unbeliever is disannulled. Those who thought they had a non-interference pact with death have lost.
Isaiah 28:22 — A warning similar to that from Proverbs but with added caution – those who mock will be punished worse than those who just ignore.
Isaiah 29:13 — This chapter (and most of Isaiah) is not easy to read. But this is the material that our LORD drew from when arguing with the Pharisees (Mark 7:13).
Isaiah 29:16 — This is the start of God’s argument across the Bible, comparing man to pottery. He’ll have Isaiah reiterate this point in Isaiah 45:9-11 and Isaiah 64:8. He’ll send Jeremiah to the potter’s house (Jeremiah 18), and He’ll use this as the key point of Paul’s argument for God’s sovereignty in Romans 9:19-21.
Isaiah 29:18 — The deaf shall hear, the blind shall see, and the poor will rejoice! Isaiah is teasing a prophecy that will be very significant (Isaiah 35).
Isaiah 30:1 — Great poetry (not that it rhymes, but that it expresses a unique thought in a few words)! Woe to them “that take counsel, but not of me.” They “add sin to sin.”
Isaiah 30:11 — Good thing we’re not like those Israelites who wanted the Holy One of Israel to depart. Right? But how much better are we when we spend just 2.4 minutes per day on religious activity?
Galatians 3:24 — The Law is our schoolmaster. From Ray Comfort:
God’s Law acts as a schoolmaster to bring us to Jesus Christ that we might be justified through faith in His blood. The Law doesn’t help us; it just leaves us helpless. It doesn’t justify us; it just leaves us guilty before the judgment bar of a holy God.
And the tragedy of modern evangelism is that, around the turn of the century when it forsook the Law in its capacity to convert the soul, to drive sinners to Christ, modern evangelism had to therefore find another reason for sinners to respond to the gospel. And the issue that modern evangelism chose to attract sinners was the issue of life enhancement. The gospel degenerated into “Jesus Christ will give you peace, joy, love, fulfillment, and lasting happiness.”
Galatians 4:7 — We who were servants are now sons, heirs of God. GotQuestions.org says:
Think of all that means. Everything that God owns belongs to us as well because we belong to Him. Our eternal inheritance as co-heirs with Christ is the result of the amazing grace of God.
Galatians 3:9 — The heirs of God – which is far better than being heirs of Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos – want to return to chains! Paul argues so vehemently that he’s afraid he’s become their enemy (Galatians 3:16).
Galatians 3:23 — Those who wanted to leave salvation by faith for salvation by Moses prided themselves on being an Israelite (the recipients of the blessings of Abraham). To those who claimed works, Paul says you’re related to Abraham, but not how you think! You’re the son of Hagar, not the son of Sarah! Those who are under salvation by grace are the children of promise, i.e. Isaac (Galatians 3:28)!
Psalm 62:1 — Salvation is a theme of the Bible. Count how many times the Psalmist uses the word. (vv. 1, 2, 6, 7). Like Paul just told us, trust only in the LORD, not in your ability to be spiritual on your own. May He alone be your rock (Psalm 62:2, Psalm 62:6)!
Psalm 62:12 — A portrait painter was told by an old woman, “Do me justice!” The painter replied, “What you need is mercy!” Thank God we get mercy in addition to what we get for our work!
Proverbs 23:20-21 — What does the Bible say about drinking?

The US National Institutes of Health’s statistics tell us that 1 out of every 3 people who have ever sipped a glass of alcohol was drunk in the last 30 days. Be careful; if you let someone think that it’s okay to drink, they have a 1 in 3 chance of ending up drunk. Unfortunately, the statistic doesn’t refer to just once in their lifetime, but to once this month! Romans 14:21 – don’t let your brother stumble!

Paul’s God is our God and will supply all our need. Paul felt sure of this in reference to the Philippians, and we feel sure of it as to ourselves. God will do it, for it is like Him: He loves us, He delights to bless us, and it will glorify Him to do so. His pity, His power, His love, His faithfulness, all work together that we be not famished.
What a measure doth the Lord go by: “According to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” The riches of His grace are large, but what shall we say of the riches of His glory? His “riches of glory by Christ Jesus”-who shall form an estimate of this? According to this immeasurable measure will God fill up the immense abyss of our necessities. He makes the Lord Jesus the receptacle and the channel of His fullness, and then He imparts to us His wealth of love in its highest form. Hallelujah!

Yes, the would-be assassin is a Democrat darling: It’ll be interesting to see how quickly the mainstream media tries to push the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump off the front page. Because the alleged would-be assassin, 58-year-old Ryan Routh, is a Trump hater and a Democrat darling. Just last year, for example, The New York Times wrote about Routh “seeking recruits from among Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban.” And unlike the previous Trump assailant, Routh was a frequent and outspoken poster on social media, and he left an incriminating trail. On April 22, he directed a bizarre post to Joe Biden himself: “Your campaign should be called something like KADAF. Keep America democratic and free. Trumps [sic] should be MASA … make Americans slaves again master. DEMOCRACY is on the ballot and we cannot lose. We cannot afford to fail. The world is counting on us to show the way.” Apparently, unhinged Democrats “show the way” by trying to assassinate their political opponents. Routh’s Facebook page was scrubbed almost immediately, and we can actually see how it happened in real time. Let’s see how long it takes the FBI to acknowledge this. Or to suggest that he was actually “a registered Republican.”

An illegal murders, again: Thank goodness for the UK’s Daily Mail. Otherwise, we Americans might be blissfully ignorant of the murders of American citizens being committed by illegal immigrants who’ve invaded our country at the invitation of the Biden-Harris regime. As the Mail reports: “A family of four were brutally murdered in their upstate New York home in scenes so gruesome, veteran cops were left shaken by what they found. Irondequoit Police said they uncovered the bodies of two parents, a four-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy in a burned-up house in the early hours of Saturday.” Where’s CNN? Where’s MSNBC? Where are the networks? Some hours later, police announced an arrest: “Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, 34, from the Dominican Republic, was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree murder for the Aug. 31 deaths of Fraime Ubaldo, 30, Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 26, Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno, 4, and Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno, 2.” Sadly, the Biden-Harris open border means we can expect more of these types of stories in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.

Former Clinton strategist calls for investigation into ABC debate: “I don’t know what they told the Harris campaign,” Mark Penn, a former top adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton, stated regarding the ABC News-moderated Trump/Harris debate. Penn, noting the obvious one-sided nature of the debate, called for an investigation: “I actually think they should do a full internal investigation, hire an outside law firm. I don’t know how much of this was planned in advance.” He added, “Suspicion here is really quite high, and I think a review of all their internal texts and emails really should be done by an independent party to find out to what extent they were planning on, in effect, you know, fact-checking just one candidate and in effect, rigging the outcome of this debate.” Penn isn’t the only Democrat to criticize ABC’s hosting of the debate; another former Clinton advisor, Doug Schoen, said that Harris “was aided and abetted by two ABC News moderators who seemingly felt the need to fact-check virtually everything the former president said.”
After-the-fact fact-checks on Harris:Now they fact-check her. Now that the network’s bias has been outed, and now that no one is paying attention, ABC News anchor Martha Raddatz figured it’d be safe to ask a Harris surrogate, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, about one of Harris’s lies from last Tuesday’s debate: “There is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world, the first time this century,” Harris claimed. Raddatz responded: “Our fact-checkers found that to be false. There are currently 900 U.S. military personnel in Syria, 2,500 U.S. troops in Iraq. All have been under regular threat from drones and missiles for months. We also have action in the Red Sea. Also, every single day, the Navy SEALs, Delta Forces special operators can be part of any sort of deadly raid.” Where was Raddatz last Tuesday? And where were her ABC colleagues, David Muir and Linsey Davis, who crammed hard before the debate to “fact-check” Donald Trump while letting Kamala Harris get away with one whopper after another?
Trump was right about Harris on taxpayer-funded trans surgery for illegals: The Leftmedia has made a cottage industry out of “fact-checking” conservatives, but they might also want to start fact-checking themselves. Recently, for example, TIME Magazine had to correct a report on Kamala Harris advocating for taxpayer-funded trans surgeries for illegal aliens. The lefty mag originally reported, “The former President … falsely claimed that Harris ‘wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.’” TIME’s quiet correction? “The original version of this story mischaracterized as false Donald Trump’s statement accusing Kamala Harris of supporting ‘transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.’ As a presidential candidate in 2019, Harris filled out a questionnaire saying she supported taxpayer-funded gender transition treatment for detained immigrants.” Other than that, the story was accurate.
Wrongly dated PA mail-in ballots to be voided: Election integrity gets a win in Pennsylvania. On Friday, the Keystone State’s Supreme Court overturned a lower court’s ruling that allowed for counting mail-in ballots that were misdated or missing the date. RNC Chairman Michael Whatley called the decision a “HUGE election integrity win,” adding, “This makes mail voting in the Keystone State less susceptible to fraud. We will keep fighting and winning!” With the battleground state currently in toss-up territory, guaranteeing the authenticity of every ballot is crucial to building trust in the election results. Thus far, through the primary elections, Pennsylvania has thrown out more than 4,400 ballots due to dating issues. Joe Biden bested Donald Trump by fewer than 82,000 votes in the state in 2020.

CA restores harsh smash-and-grab penalties: Golden State residents have had enough, as thousands have fled the state over the past few years due in large part to the rampant crime problem. Last Thursday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a crime bill that imposes tougher penalties on smash-and-grab thefts. Damaging property valued at over $50,000 while in the commission of a felony will trigger harsher penalties. “California already has some of the strictest retail and property crime laws in the nation,” Newsom boasted. “We have made them even stronger with our recent legislation. We can be tough on crime while also being smart on crime — we don’t need to go back to broken policies of the last century.” The broken policies were the ones that went soft on crime and resulted in criminals running amok, which forced numerous business owners to close up shop. There is a caveat, however, as this new law will expire in five years.
CA wants to add a health warning label to gas stoves: Leftists have it out for gas stoves. First, it was in the name of “saving the planet” and the dubious claim that fossil fuels are causing climate change. Never mind the fact that the expanded use of natural gas is the primary reason that the U.S.‘s carbon emissions have decreased significantly over the last two decades. Well, now Democrat lawmakers in California are taking another tactic against gas stoves: They want to label them a health hazard. Democrats in the state have passed legislation that would require all gas stoves to have a health warning label similar to what is on tobacco products. Of course, California is just the first step in a broader campaign by the anti-gas stove lobby. The problem is that, unlike smoking, there is no significant attributable negative health threat to using gas stoves. This is merely fearmongering by climate cultists.

For two years, the Biden/Harris campaign theme was constructed on the rhetoric that “Donald Trump is the greatest threat to democracy.” They had nothing else to run on other than vilifying their opponent.
On July 13, just days after Joe Biden declared, “It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye,” there was an assassination attempt against Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Remarkably, Trump was grazed by a bullet that was millimeters from ending his life. Biden defended his remark, insisting, “I didn’t say crosshairs.”
We still know virtually nothing about that assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed by law enforcement overwatch snipers. But we learned plenty about the failure of Secret Service and Homeland Security agents assigned to protect Trump.
A week after that attack, Kamala Harris executed the Democrat Party’s scripted plan to replace Biden, and the Harris/Walz duo then adopted the same “Trump is a threat to democracy” theme.
In last week’s “debate” between Trump and Harris, among the litany of unchallenged lies Harris propagated, she repeatedly invoked the “danger to democracy” rhetoric. In an opening question about the economy, Harris avoided the question, and when pressed for an answer, she still avoided answering, instead diverting to her familiar claim, “Donald Trump left us the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”
Such grossly irresponsible inflammatory hyperbole has unintended consequences — including the incitement of sociopathic rage.
Yesterday, while playing golf at Trump International Golf Club, located in an urban section of West Palm Beach, another assassin was prepared to kill Trump. The assailant, identified by law enforcement officials as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, was positioned to take a shot at Trump with a scoped rifle as he approached from an estimated 400 meters away. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said, “With a rifle and a scope like that, that’s not a long distance.”
But this time, an alert Secret Service agent, making a security pass on the hole Trump was approaching, spotted Routh and foiled the plot. The agent opened fire on the would-be assassin, who fled the scene. Remarkably, a bystander took pictures of Routh’s car and license tag, and tag-reading cameras on I-95 identified the vehicle about 40 miles from West Palm. Routh was quickly stopped and arrested.
As news of the incident broke, Trump quickly issued a statement: “There were gunshots in my vicinity but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again. May God bless you.” He later added, “It was certainly an interesting day!” and praised the response by the Secret Service.
Biden responded, “As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country.”
Harris echoed that claim: “I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America.”
“No place for political violence”? Really?
For the record, Biden, Harris, and their Demo cadres created the modern template for political violence in America with their choreographed “Summer of Rage” riots ahead of the 2020 election. They simultaneously demoted and defunded law enforcement capabilities, exacerbating the lawlessness. Their political tactic led to a historic surge of violence across our nation, which spilled over into the years that followed and has yet to subside.
So, what do we know about Ryan Wesley Routh?
Routh was a native of North Carolina but has resided in Hawaii since 2017. He has a long criminal history with more than 100 criminal counts, including carrying a concealed weapon, drug position, possession of stolen property, and numerous traffic infractions. Notably, in one incident two decades ago, Routh barricaded himself in a building and was subsequently convicted of possessing an actual fully automatic assault rifle in violation of federal law.
Routh may have supported Trump in 2016, but he turned against Trump before 2020. Since 2019, he has made more than a dozen donations to ActBlue, the Democrat donor clearing house, and most recently voted in a Democrat primary. Routh also has an unhinged obsession with fighting for Ukraine, having gone there in 2022.
Bottom line in my assessment: Routh is a delusional individual who has been so fixated on the latest hateful political rhetoric against Trump that he was determined to murder him. I estimate the same to be true of the previous assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, but we will likely never know much more about him.
For his part, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is not waiting on conclusions by a federal investigation, announcing: “The State of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club. The people deserve the truth.”
Among the questions that are most pressing: How did Routh know where Trump would be, and how was he able to get into position one hole ahead of Trump?

The suspect allegedly championed left-wing causes and was a staunch Kiev supporter
The man behind a botched assassination attempt against Donald Trump at his Florida golf club has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh by multiple media reports citing anonymous law enforcement sources. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the suspect’s identity.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the former US President and Republican presidential candidate was playing golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. A Secret Service agent apparently spotted a rifle barrel sticking through the resort’s fence and fired several rounds at the threat. The suspect fled the scene, leaving behind an AK-style rifle with a scope and a GoPro camera, but he was later arrested.
”He was not displaying a lot of emotions. He never asked, ‘What is this about?’” Martin County Sheriff William Snyder told a press conference.
The suspect was reportedly “relatively calm” when authorities detained him. Fox News and New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz shared an alleged photo of the suspect being pulled out of his vehicle and detained by law enforcement.
While the man’s identity and motive have not yet been officially confirmed by authorities, law enforcement sources informed AP, CNN, and Fox News that the detained man’s name was Ryan Wesley Routh.
A man by that name appeared to be a staunch supporter of Ukraine in its conflict with Moscow, according to US media and internet users who analyzed his social media accounts before they were deleted.
Routh’s social media profiles were filled with posts highlighting his “self-proclaimed involvement” in the Ukraine conflict and attempts to recruit soldiers to fight against Russia, according to CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller.
Routh spent several months in Kiev in 2022 and told the New York Times about his efforts to recruit former Afghan soldiers to fight in Ukraine. He also spoke with Newsweek about his attempts to enlist volunteers for the International Legion Defense of Ukraine.

According to the New York Post, Routh frequently criticized politicians, including Trump and current President Joe Biden, and “touted his do-gooder credentials while championing left-wing causes.”
Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene stated that if the suspect’s identity is confirmed, it is clear he is “obsessed with the Ukraine war, which is funded by the US.”

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has questioned whether US intelligence agencies had any “contact” with the attempted shooter, pointing to his alleged connections to Ukraine and vocal support for Kiev.

Former President Donald Trump was the target of what the FBI says “appears to be an attempted assassination” at his Florida golf club yesterday. The incident at West Palm Beach comes just nine weeks after the Republican presidential nominee survived an attempt on his life.
Law enforcement officials have been warning that threats of politically motivated violence have spiked online since the July 13 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has long viewed golf as especially vulnerable, as courses offer a precarious combination of open ground and the predictability of a protectee moving from hole to hole.
On Sunday, Mr. Trump was walking between holes five and six when an agent ahead of him spotted a rifle barrel protruding out of a fence near the golf club’s property line. Secret Service personnel fired at least four shots. The gunman dropped the rifle and fled in an SUV. According to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, the man left the firearm behind along with two backpacks, a scope used for aiming, and a GoPro camera.
The gunman was only four hundred yards from the former president. According to Sheriff Bradshaw, “With a rifle and a scope like that, that’s not a long distance.” The man was later taken into custody in a neighboring county.
Mr. Trump returned to Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach where he lives; it was not immediately clear whether the incident would affect his campaign schedule. The White House issued a statement noting that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had been briefed about the threat against Mr. Trump and are “relieved to know that he is safe.”
An “inevitable new normal”?
Of the forty-five individuals serving as US president, fourteen have been subject to actual or attempted assassination. But yesterday’s event was different.
Much is unsettling about this attack: Trump’s schedule was not public; the assassin got dangerously close to the former president with an AK-47 style gun with a long-range scope; he appears to have worn defensive “ceramic tiles” as an ad-hoc bulletproof vest as if anticipating engagement. Most unsettling is that he had a GoPro camera to capture his actions and, if successful, air them to the world.
Americans have had to adjust to “new normals” in politics—large and small—on a seemingly regular basis in the past few years. The national discourse has coarsened, partisan divisions have sharpened and become more entrenched, and the standards for candidate behavior have eroded.
Given the national epidemic of gun violence, these kinds of attacks are perhaps another, inevitable new normal. But for now, it is still shocking.
Most previous assassinations and attempts came before social media became so ubiquitous. Now anyone with a camera can achieve instant notoriety by trying to kill a president or presidential candidate. We may therefore continue to see would-be assassins seek publicity for themselves and their purported causes in such a nefarious way.
If Lincoln had not been assassinated
Many are arguing this morning that the Secret Service should grant Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris the same level of protection afforded a current president. (The entire golf course would have been surrounded if Mr. Trump had been a sitting president.) However, as John F. Kennedy ominously noted, “If anyone is crazy enough to want to kill a president of the United States, he can do it. All he must be prepared to do is give his life for the president’s.”
In this sense, yesterday’s attempted assassination points to a foundational challenge of American democracy: the pivotal role of the US president.
Beginning with George Washington, our chief executive has always been vital to America flourishing. When our presidents have been strong and effective, our nation has been healthier. When they have failed, we have suffered as a result.
For example, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln set back race relations and the integration of the North and South for generations. Andrew Johnson, the man who succeeded him, is widely viewed by historians as “the worst possible person to have served as president.” He was a “rigid, dictatorial racist” whose failed leadership “did more to extend the period of national strife than he did to heal the wounds of war.” It is similarly plausible that if John F. Kennedy had not been assassinated, America’s involvement in the Vietnam War would have been significantly lessened.
If our political rancor continues to worsen while the availability of social media platforms makes assassination attempts more common, we have reason to fear for the health and future of our democracy.
But fear is always the wrong response to the future.
“His grace sufficient, his promise unchangeable”
John Newton, the famous author of Amazing Grace, testified:
If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear. His eye is upon us, his arm is over us, his ear open to our prayer—his grace sufficient, his promise unchangeable. Under his protection, though the path of duty should lie through fire and water, we may cheerfully and confidently pursue it.
We worship and serve a King whose reign will never end, a Father who loves us unconditionally and whose providence is omnipotent. We are therefore called to pray fervently for those with the courage to lead us in such dangerous times, asking God for their protection and wisdom (1 Timothy 2:1–2).
And we are invited to trust our personal and national challenges to God “by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving,” knowing that “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).
In the lead up to the 2020 election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden the US was embroiled in a host of civil conflicts from BLM and Antifa riots to debates over the pandemic response. The Democrat’s election message was essentially a “return to normalcy” – “Wouldn’t it be nice if all these riots and disruptions stopped? Vote for Joe and it will all go away.”
Except, it didn’t go away.
Today as the 2024 election swiftly approaches the public is being made a very similar empty offer; the claim being that none of this political drama would be happening if Trump wasn’t a factor. It is this argument that is being used to justify not one but two separate near-miss assassination attempts on Trump, both carried out by confirmed supporters of Democrat institutions like ActBlue and the latest suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Routh, is a verified Bernie Sanders and DNC supporter who actively tried to recruit foreign mercenaries for the war in Ukraine. (Claims that Routh voted for Trump in 2016 appear to be false. Records from his residence in North Carolina show Routh did not vote in 2016).
This is 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. A background check on Routh turned up about 50 pages of criminal activity. (Yes, 50). Most of the charges state 'charges filed, unspecified' and cover a time span from 1984 to 2019.
Establishment news platforms blame Trump for both attempts on his life.
The second assertion by leftists is that Democrats like Kamala Harris are not responsible for the actions of two “random” unhinged shooters and the political left is mostly peaceful, but this excuse doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. In fact, Democrat media rhetoric for the past several years has radicalized progressive activists into a delusional frenzy, with millions of them being told that Trump and conservatives are an “existential threat to Democracy” similar to the Third Reich.
The Russian Collusion hoax, the false claims of insurrection on January 6th and the false claims about Trump’s “racism” have driven these people insane and, in their minds, killing him would save the world. Demonize your political enemies enough and any criminal action could be treated as justifiable. This zealotry is not limited to a handful of bad apples, it’s pervasive among progressive groups.
The classic Marxist strategy is to attack the target leadership or system as much as possible while claiming your attempts at sabotage are actually the fault of the very people you seek to destroy. In other words, gaslight your political opponents and tell everyone they made you do bad things to them. Leftists must remain the perpetual victims, the perpetual underdogs, otherwise their entire narrative as “revolutionaries” falls apart.
It should be noted that only one side of the American discourse has consistently supported violence and assassination as their go-to solution to the possibility of losing the election.

This is not to say that the scale needs to be “balanced out” (that’s a debate for another time), only that leftists continue to ignore the very democracy they claim to defend whenever public sentiment doesn’t go their way. Make no mistake, if Ryan Routh had been successful there would be millions of Democrats on social media cheering and gloating today. They don’t care about what’s right, they only care about “winning.”

In his debate with Kamala Harris last week, former President Donald Trump stated that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were abducting and eating pets. The comment provoked a furor that continues unabated this morning. It’s easy to find opinions siding with Mr. Trump or against him and focusing on immigration as a threat or a benefit to America.
Are all religions “a path to arrive at God”?
Here’s what’s harder to do: Find objective reporting about the religious context behind the controversy. After some effort, here’s what I was able to discover online:
A 2004 National Geographic article states that voodoo is the “dominant religion” in Haiti.
A 2011 article explaining voodoo reports that “food is one of the many offerings ceremoniously given to the Lwa (Spirits) and is usually shared afterward as a communal meal.”
An article opposing animal abuse notes that “animal sacrifice” in voodoo is “a central part of this faith,” while a 2013 report claims that animal sacrifice “isn’t embraced by all” practitioners.
To be clear: Reports that some voodoo adherents employ animal sacrifices does not mean Haitian immigrants in Ohio are doing so. My purpose is not to take sides in the partisan conflict over Mr. Trump’s comments. Rather, it is to ask why the religious worldview that should be vital to the debate is largely absent from the discussion.
In other news, Pope Francis made headlines with his statement that both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are “against life.” He added that American Catholics must choose the “lesser of two evils” because of Mr. Trump’s position on immigrants and Ms. Harris’s support for abortion.
Now consider another statement by the pope: In Singapore, he declared, “All religions are a path to arrive at God.” He added, “They are like different languages to arrive there. But God is God for all.” With all due respect to the pontiff, this claim contradicts clear, historic Christian orthodoxy regarding the necessity of faith in Christ. (I plan to address this fact in tomorrow’s Daily Article.) But it is receiving far less coverage than his statement regarding the American presidential election.
Why is this?
“Self-evident” or “sacred and undeniable”?
Most of us can recite Thomas Jefferson’s famous statement in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” However, in reading David M. Rubenstein’s The Highest Calling: Conversations on the American Presidencyover the weekend, I discovered a fascinating fact: Mr. Jefferson actually wrote the words “sacred and undeniable,” but Benjamin Franklin substituted “self-evident” in their place.
As a result, our founding creed embraces “truths” that are “evident” to the “self” rather than “sacred” and thus “undeniable.” Here we see the early seeds of what became the postmodern rejection of objective truth based on biblical revelation. In its place we privilege materialism and scientific secularism as “factual” and view objective morality and religion as subjective speculation. And we give far less cultural attention to the latter than to the former.
Why does this rejection of objective truth and morality matter to our national future?
In his latest book, Democracy and Solidarity: On the Cultural Roots of America’s Political Crisis, noted evangelical sociologist James Davison Hunter states that American democracy depends on cultural solidarity, “a framework of cohesion within which legitimate political debate, discourse, and action take place.” However, because we have jettisoned objective truth and morality, “we no longer have the cultural resources to work through what divides us.”
He therefore predicts that “the legitimation crisis will continue to harden: confidence in the range of governing institutions will continue to weaken, cynicism toward the leadership class will deepen, and the alienation of ordinary citizens from their nation will worsen.”
Then he asks, “What is there to impede or reverse this course?”
“Unite my heart to fear your name”
There’s a simple reason our insistence on “tolerance” is so appealing: It permits us to engage in unbiblical immorality while at the same time claiming the moral high ground by rejecting those who disagree as “intolerant.” Our cultural demise is the consequence of our cultural worldview.
As a result, we should look for the answer to Dr. Hunter’s question not from within our fallen society but from outside it.
In Psalm 86, David prayed: “All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God” (vv. 9–10).
Thus he prayed, “Teach me your way, O Lᴏʀᴅ, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name” (v. 11). God answered his prayer, so that he testified next: “I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever” (v. 12, my emphasis). All of this is on the basis of God’s grace, not David’s merit: “For great is your steadfast love toward me” (v. 13).
When we see God as he is, we see ourselves as we are. Then:
In light of his omnipotence, we see our finitude and frailty.
We respond to his “steadfast love” by worshiping him with our “whole heart.”
Such holistic worship leads us to “walk in your truth” as we “fear your name.”
Consequently, we “glorify your name forever.”
Imagine the impact we would make on our broken culture if all of God’s people experienced him in such a transforming way.

NBC News’s Lester Holt was even more shameless when he claimed that “today’s apparent assassination attempt comes amid increasingly fierce rhetoric on the campaign trail. Mr. Trump, his running mate JD Vance continue to make baseless claims about Haitian immigrants”
I don’t need to talk about how crazy the media would go if the roles were reversed. The J6 riot led to the deployment of National Guard units from across the country and the militarization of D.C., along with an investigation that’s still ongoing. Kamala claimed that it was the worst thing to happen to America since the Civil War even on the anniversary of 9/11. Democrats are still going nuts over the JFK assassination and insist it’s a great national trauma that completely changed history. But guys taking potshots at Trump is something they learn to get past within minutes. It’s just this sorta thing that keeps happening. Why? Who knows. Now let’s talk some more about how he’s a threat to democracy.
The matter-of-fact approach normalizes the violence. How people react to things often depends on the social signals that they’re given. It’s why much of the British public went along with the ruthless crackdown on anti-migrant protests in the UK while agreeing that Hamas rioters were political speech. Same thing happened in America with J6 and BLM. The media is sending the signal that taking shots at Trump is no big deal.

Around 55% of this rise came from developed economies, mainly the U.S., France, and Germany. Unfunded liabilities in the United States amount to $72 trillion, almost 300% of GDP. This may seem high until you look at Spain with 500% of GDP, France with close to 400%, or Germany with close to 350% of GDP.
There is no escape from debt. Paying for the government’s fictitious promises in paper money will result in a constantly depreciating currency, thereby impoverishing those who earn a wage or have savings.Inflation is the hidden tax, and it is very convenient for governments because they always blame shops or businesses and present themselves as the solution by printing even more currency.
Governments want more inflation to reduce the impact of the enormous debt and unfunded liabilities in real terms. They know they can’t tax you more, so they will tax you indirectly by destroying the purchasing power of the currency they issue.
High taxes are not a tool to reduce high debt, but rather to perpetuate the expropriation of national wealth. Countries with high taxes and big governments also have enormous public debt levels.
If you thought the monetary destruction we have witnessed in recent years was excessive, just wait for the suffering we will endure in the future.
In 2024, the world has seen more than seventy elections where none of the parties with access to power even bothered to present a realistic plan to cut debt.Governments and politicians understand that they can make any promises using someone else’s money, and many voters will readily accept the fallacy of taxing the wealthy. Naturally, currency debasement leads to widespread impoverishment.
Kamala Harris promises tax deductions for start-ups and first-time homebuyers, as well as families with children. It is hilarious. Inflation, a hidden tax, consumes their earnings and savings, while high direct and indirect taxes absorb the remaining funds. Despite this, she promises a tax deduction that most small businesses will never take advantage of, as they will shut down before generating any profit.

Governments and politicians need the votes of the middle class to reach power, and they also need to erode the savings and wages of that same middle class to reduce the weight of public debt in real terms.When the government says they can print and issue more debt, you pay for it.
The trillions of dollars accumulated in debt will lead to an unprecedented wave of central bank easing, which will continue to include negative real rates and even direct debt monetization.However, they need an excuse to present themselves as the solution to the problem they created. A recession or a significant slowdown will be the trigger to implement the plan to destroy the purchasing power of currencies. However, this time inflation is already evident and persistent.
Remember why governments are pleased to destroy the purchasing power of the currency they issue? It is a form of nationalization of the country’s wealth.
How can governments implement currency destruction when citizens are already upset about high prices? First, they need to silence you. Second, eliminate your options to run away from the currency. Thirdly, enforce the expropriation with the motto, “You may have nothing, but you will find happiness.” Yes, you won’t have anything, but you won’t be content either. Only this time you will be unable to complain. Eliminating free speech and independent media is a key part of this plan.
You think I am exaggerating? If the government really believed you would be better off and more prosperous with their policies, they would encourage free speech because everyone would value their welfare improvements. They need to limit free speech because they know they will make you poorer. Therefore, it’s crucial for you to safeguard yourself against the promises made by the government and comprehend the reasons behind the destruction of money.

EXCLUSIVE: Former President Trump said President Biden and Vice President Harris’ “rhetoric” is what is causing him to be “shot at,” following the second assassination attempt against him since July, while telling Fox News Digital that the suspected gunman “acted” on “highly inflammatory language” of Democrats.
Trump spoke exclusively with Fox News Digital Monday morning, just a day after he was rushed off of the golf course at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Fla., after the Secret Service discovered a gunman in the bushes.
The suspected gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, had an AK-47 style rifle pointing through the chain-link fence out toward the green; a go-pro camera; and two backpacks. He ran from the scene but was pulled over and arrested on I-95.
Authorities are treating the episode as an apparent assassination attempt against Trump.
Trump was safe following the second assassination attempt against him since July.
“He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” Trump said of the gunman in an interview with Fox News Digital. “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out.”
Trump pointed to Biden and Harris’ past comments casting Trump as a “threat to democracy,” while telling Americans they are “unity” leaders.
“They are the opposite,” Trump said. “These are people that want to destroy our country.”
He added: “It is called the enemy from within. They are the real threat.”
A background check on the name given by officials, Ryan Wesley Routh, revealed that he currently lives in Hawaii and has faced dozens of run-ins with police, stretching back to at least the 1990s.
Routh previously echoed Biden and Harris’ anti-Trump comments, that “Democracy is on the ballot” on his social media pages this year, and that Democrats “cannot lose.”
Routh posted about politics often and donated to only Democrat candidates and causes.
“They do it with a combination of rhetoric and lawsuits they wrap me up in,” Trump said. “These are the things that dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to — that is the rhetoric they listen to, and the same with the first one.”
Democrats, meanwhile, have repeatedly blamed Trump for raising the temperature and have accused him of being a “threat to democracy,” particularly due to his handling of the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Over the weekend, Biden suggested Trump was trying to incite violence, referring to his comments about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.
Biden, at an event over the weekend, said “any president should reject hate in America” and “not incite it.”
The White House, Harris’ campaign, and the office of Minnesota Gov. Time Walz, Harris’ running mate, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
Trump also said Biden and Harris’ policies are “destroying” the country “by allowing millions of very dangerous migrants to pour into it and destroying our country and cities.”
“On the outside, we are weak and feeble and not respected by the world anymore,” Trump said.
Meanwhile, reflecting back on the debate against Harris last week, Trump slammed the media.
“The media is made up of fools that will spew [Democrats’] garbage and spew their sick philosophies and will protect them at all costs, and they can’t believe they get away with it,” Trump said. “Democrats are totally protected by the media.”
Trump said the debate on ABC News last week “was so biased and so out of control.”
“Harris was the one lying about Project 2025, she lied about abortion, she lied about everything,” Trump said. “She was correcting me.”
“It was three against one,” he said. “I was surprised at David Muir. I thought he was a high-quality person, but he is just a sleeze like the rest of them.”
But with just 50 days until Election Day, Trump warned Democrats to watch their rhetoric.
“They use highly inflammatory language,” he said. “I can use it too — far better than they can — but I don’t.”
