There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "…truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity–it is simply true and that is the end of it" – Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” – Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
Obedience is something our old nature recoils at. Let’s face it our flesh likes to be satisfied and not take orders; especially biblical commandments. But the more I read and study my Bible the more I realize that obedience is the pathway to blessings. Obeying God’s Word, while not always easy, is the best investment you can make with your time, your talent, and your treasury. I pray that the following few thoughts may help you to look at obedience to God in a whole new and exciting light.
In (Psalm 19:7-11) we read:
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Notice in (Psalm 19:11) we see that obeying God’s commandments serve to both warn and reward us. And this, my friends, is the dual nature of obedience to God. God, over and over again, tells us in the Scriptures that when we obey Him we can avoid a host of negative consequences and receive a myriad of blessings.
When we choose to go our own way and disobey God’s commands, yes, we accrue, in some small measure, momentary pleasures, but at a very high cost. First, joy cannot coexist in the heart of a disobedient believer. Second, peace with God is forfeited. Third, our prayers to God will often go unanswered. Fourth, anxiety and worry will cause us many sleepless nights. And fifth, that sweet fellowship with Jesus will temporarily vanish. Thus, we see that there is a high price to paid as a follower of Christ, who chooses to walk in disobedience.
However, when we are walking in obedience to Christ these above five negative points change into amazing blessings. Let’s consider each one in turn.
Obedience brings joy
Yes, when we obey Christ we may suffer some negative feedback and persecution, but just look at the rewards that we read in (Matthew 5:11-12): “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” I love this verse for two reasons. One, obedience brings exceedingly great joy even in the midst of persecution. And two, obedience promises us a great reward in heaven!
Obedience brings peace
(Psalm 119:165) tells us: “Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” The more we fall in love with the Prince of Peace, the more we will want to obey His precious Word – the result great peace!
Obedience brings answered prayer
(Psalm 66:18) states: “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” Disobedience to the Word of God is one of the chief reasons our prayers go unanswered. However, as we can see in (2 Chronicles 16:9) God will move in amazing ways, especially in prayer, to those who have an obedient heart: “For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth, so that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His…” I believe that God truly delights to answer our prayers when we walk in obedience to His will and His Word.
Obedience helps conquer anxiety and worry
(Matthew 6:33) states: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” In the context of (Matthew 6) when we are obedient to seeking the advancement of God’s kingdom as one of our main focuses in life we can be confident that God will supply all of our needs. In other words, we don’t have to worry because God knows what we need and He promises to provide for us. When we put God first in all of our decisions in life we don’t need to be anxious about anything but just do what we read in (1 Peter 5:7): “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” So, when we are obedient to the Lord we can cast our burdens on Him and receive His blessings in return.
Obedience brings sweet fellowship with the Lord
King David understood how horrible life was for him after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Until Nathan the prophet confronted David with his great sin and lack of repentance, life for David was miserable. When David finally repented he wrote (Psalm 51) and was able to have his broken relationship with the Lord restored. In (Psalm 51:10-12) we see David’s heart and desire to have his once sweet fellowship with the Lord restored. I believe David knew that only through true repentance and obedience to God going forward, could peace, joy, and intimacy with the Lord, which he so desired, return. Just listen to these beautiful words from (Psalm 51:10-12): “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
Obedience to God is a beautiful word. I pray as you walk with the Lord you will strive to obey the Word of God. I guarantee you that deep blessings will flood your soul and make life so much more meaningful!

The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation;
This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name, Exodus 15:2,3.
After the glorious manifestation of Yahweh’s authority and power over Pharaoh and the false gods of Egypt, after the ten plagues and the destruction of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea, Moses and the people of God celebrated their deliverance and victory with a song of praise to Yahweh, their Warrior God. They sang, “The horse and its rider, He has hurled into the sea. . . Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; and the choicest of his officers are drowned in the Red Sea,” (Ex.15:1,4).
As the nation of Israel had their backs to the Red Sea as the Egyptian army came toward them, Moses said to them, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent,” (Ex.14:13,14). As Israel was soon to enter into the promised land, Moses said to them, “The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,” (Deut.1:30). We also know our Warrior God’s faithfulness is our shield and bulwark (Ps.91:4). I could cite many other passages which portray our covenant God as our Warrior, the One who fights for His people, who defends them against their enemies, and who serves as our peacemaker, bringing us into right relationship with Him through the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since man is made in God’s image he also is to fulfill his role as a warrior. As I have already stated, man is hardwired for sex, money, and power. These desires were hardwired into Adam before the fall into sin. These desires are not evil in and of themselves, though we know too well they have often been perverted. Because men are hardwired for sex, money, and power they tend to be aggressive by nature. They go after a woman to marry her. They are very zealous in doing so because they are propagators. They want to father children. They want to win. They go hard in their work because they are providers. And men want to lead, to take control, to dominate in sports and in their careers because they are rulers. God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, and man is head of a woman, his wife (1Cor.11:3). He owns his responsibility to provide well for his wife and children. If he does not fulfill this role then Paul says that he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever (1 Tim.5:8).
So, what are the characteristics of man as a warrior. Consider these three things. First, he is a fighter. Paul tells Timothy to fight the good fight, keeping faith and a clear conscience (1Tim.1:18,19). When Lot was taken captive his Uncle Abram, pursued his captors and delivered him in a mighty battle (Gen.14). A godly man will fight, as it were, to find a likeminded woman and marry her. A godly man will sacrifice his life for his wife, if need be. He will assume a heavy workload to provide food on the table for his family. He will fight for truth to prevail in his family. He will guard his family against the intrusion of bad theology and wicked social media. Most importantly he will fight in prayer and personal instruction for the salvation of his wife and children. He will model godly behavior and values before them. And when he fails, because we all fail, he will be humble enough to confess his sin to his wife and children, repent of it, and ask them to forgive him for his folly. He will live a disciplined life of daily Bible reading and prayer, both privately and with his family. He will manage his household by keeping his children under control with all dignity. He will plan, the best he can, always remembering that man plans his ways but the Lord directs his steps.
As a warrior a godly father and husband will be a defender. He will prohibit anyone from physically, verbally, or spiritually abusing his wife or children. He will stop them with physical or lethal force, if necessary. He is the lord protector of his family. He will be vigilant, doing all he can, to shepherd his family. A shepherd knows that his sheep are defenseless against wild beasts and if they are attacked, he must fight at all costs to deliver them; and so it is with the father and husband.
As a warrior, men are to be the defenders of their nation. It is a shameful thing for men to expect women to defend them in war. Women in the military should never be allowed. I realize there were times in Scripture when women fought enemies (Deborah the prophetess comes to mind, Judges 4) but these events were aberrations. Men are hardwired to fight. Women can do it but it is an acquired ability. It is nurture, not nature for women while it is nature, not nurture for men. A country that allows or expects women to fight their battles are surely on a slippery slope to destruction.
And then men are to be peacemakers. Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God,” (Mt.5:9). As a father, the peacemaker is most zealous to make sure his children have peace with God. He knows that his children were born sinners and in great need of the only Savior, Jesus Christ. He prays and labors for the salvation of all his children. When trouble arises in the family, especially between siblings, he will not look the other way, and refuse to get involved. He will instead be proactive. In the context of the church, if he serves as an elder then he is never to be self-willed, quick tempered, not addicted to wine, and not argumentative (Titus 1:7). In the context of his work, he does all he can to address hard feelings between workers. He is also proactive in his community or neighborhood. His job is to promote peace, to bring shalom to his family, church, work place, and community. This however does not mean “peace at any price”. After all, he is a warrior. Compromise can be a deadly decision.
What results from a man who lives out his God given role as warrior? His wife will flourish. I often tell young couples as I officiate their wedding ceremony that as the husband loves his wife sacrificially, if he serves her well as provider and warrior, then her countenance will glow in old age. In a sense, her beauty will only grow, even after thirty or forty or fifty years of marriage. A woman who is loved, provided and cared for, and defended is indeed a blessed woman, and this is the way it should always be. And when a father lives out his warrior role then his boys will grow to become godly men and his daughters will grow to be godly women. Men will act like men and women will act like women. This is God’s design and it is always good. The Christian household, the Christian culture, will bear much fruit, even though there are tragedies and hardships which come as sure as sparks fly upward.
But what if you have failed in your warrior role? First of all, no man has ever done this perfectly. If, however, you see many failures and the fruit of those failures are in the lives of your wife and children, then what? Repent, confess your sins to God and then to your wife and children. And then ask God for grace to move forward in your warrior role. The best time to plant a tree was twenty-five years ago, but maybe you failed to plant it then. When, therefore, is the second best time to plant a tree? Today. Begin today. Commit yourself by God’s grace through the work of the Holy Spirit to be the man God is calling you to be. Indeed, “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love,” (1Cor.16:13,14.
But ye denied the Holy One…And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead;… ACTS 3:14, 15
The test by which all conduct must finally be judged is motive. As water cannot rise higher than its source, so the moral quality in an act can never be higher than the motive that inspires it. For this reason, no act that arises from an evil motive can be good, even though some good may appear to come out of it. Every deed done out of anger or spite, for instance, will be found at last to have been done for the enemy and against the Kingdom of God! In this matter of motive, as in so many other things, the Pharisees afford us clear examples. They remain the world’s most dismal religious failures, not because of doctrinal error nor because they were careless or lukewarm, nor because they were outwardly persons of dissolute life. Their whole trouble lay in the quality of their religious motives. They prayed, but they prayed to be heard of men. They gave generously to the service of the temple, but they sometimes did it to escape their duty toward their parents, and this was an evil. They judged sin and stood against it when found in others, but this they did from self-righteousness and hardness of heart. That this is not a small matter may be gathered from the fact that those orthodox and proper religionists went on in their blindness until at last they crucified the Lord of glory with no inkling of the gravity of their crime!

Ah, Lord! is it so, that among men of the world, though oppressed by the world, and the evils of it, and some are compelled to cry out under the bitterness of their sorrows, yet are there no hearts, no voices, directed to thee? When death entereth into their window, and taketh away the desire of their eyes with a stroke; or when pains, and chastenings of the body chain them to their beds: do they lament the earthly bereavements, and groan under the consequences of sin, by which death and sickness came; and yet in all these things, will nothing lead their unthinking minds “to hear the rod, and who hath appointed it?” Will they turn from one creature-comfort to another, and strive to fill up the vacancies made by distressing providences in their fancied happiness with any thing, or even nothing, rather than look to thee for comfort and support under their trouble? Oh! how great are my privileges, if this be the case, compared to the carnal! And oh! how distinguishing thy grace to my poor soul, that when sleepless on the bed, or when pains keep me awake, I can, and do look to Jesus, and say, “Thou art God my maker, who giveth songs in the night!” Yea, Lord! thou hast refreshed my soul with many a sweet song, when all the world was to me asleep, and could not interrupt my happiness. Oh! how often have I been blessed with the harmony of the songs of redemption, and run over in some of the blessed verses of it, how Jesus hath loved me, and given himself for me. Yea, Lord! may I not say, as the prophet, “Thou hast wakened me morning by morning; thou hast wakened mine ear, to hear as the learned.” For methinks I have been often wakened in the night by thee, and I have found my soul instantly led out by thy grace to a sense of thy presence, and to a desire after thee: and was not this, my Lord, calling, as upon the Church of old, “Let us get up early to the vineyards, for there will I give thee my loves!” O precious Redeemer! grant me such frequent visits, and such sweet communications of thy grace; and if in thy wise and kind providences, sickness, or pain, or afflictions, be at any time appointed me, do thou sit up by me, Lord, and keep my heart in sweet recollection of thee, that in the multitude of the sorrows of my heart, thy comforts may refresh my soul, and frequently may the earnest petition for thy presence and thy love go forth in the inquiry, “Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night?”

The Lord Jesus had goings forth for his people as their representative before the throne, long before they appeared upon the stage of time. It was “from everlasting” that he signed the compact with his Father, that he would pay blood for blood, suffering for suffering, agony for agony, and death for death, in the behalf of his people; it was “from everlasting” that he gave himself up without a murmuring word. That from the crown of his head to the sole of his foot he might sweat great drops of blood, that he might be spit upon, pierced, mocked, rent asunder, and crushed beneath the pains of death. His goings forth as our Surety were from everlasting. Pause, my soul, and wonder! Thou hast goings forth in the person of Jesus “from everlasting.” Not only when thou wast born into the world did Christ love thee, but his delights were with the sons of men before there were any sons of men. Often did he think of them; from everlasting to everlasting he had set his affection upon them. What! my soul, has he been so long about thy salvation, and will not he accomplish it? Has he from everlasting been going forth to save me, and will he lose me now? What! Has he carried me in his hand, as his precious jewel, and will he now let me slip from between his fingers? Did he choose me before the mountains were brought forth, or the channels of the deep were digged, and will he reject me now? Impossible! I am sure he would not have loved me so long if he had not been a changeless Lover. If he could grow weary of me, he would have been tired of me long before now. If he had not loved me with a love as deep as hell, and as strong as death, he would have turned from me long ago. Oh, joy above all joys, to know that I am his everlasting and inalienable inheritance, given to him by his Father or ever the earth was! Everlasting love shall be the pillow for my head this night.

AND Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. (Jealousy of his power was at the bottom of their complaining. How good a man Moses must have been when even those who knew him best could find no fault with him except that he had married a foreign lady, against whom they had nothing to allege but that she was an Ethiopian.) 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. (Moses must have felt the jealousy of his brother and sister very keenly, but he did not fight his own battle, he left the matter to God, who observed with indignation the wanton envy of the ungenerous pair.) 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) (Some other hand has inserted this verse under divine direction. Moses would not have said it of himself, but the Lord took care that somebody else should record it, for he honours those who honour him. As Moses was meek he did not strive for himself, and therefore the Lord became his champion.) 4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. (The suddenness of the interference marks the importance of the matter, and the Lord’s anger concerning it.) 5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. 6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. 7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? (Aaron had been faulty in the matter of the golden calf, and therefore he ought to have been very quiet, and Miriam’s sex should have sufficed to make her modest; yet, envy thrust both these good persons into a bad spirit, and then into a false and sinful position. Above all things, let us shun envy, for it is cruel as the grave. If God chooses to make other men greater and more honourable than ourselves, what right have we to question his prerogative?) 9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. (This was the surest token of his anger. His presence is heaven, his absence misery to his children.) 10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. If Aaron had been made a leper he could not have executed his office; but Miriam’s disease was a punishment to both, and possibly she had also been the chief offender. 11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. 12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb. 13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. Miriam wounded Moses with her tongue, and now Moses uses his tongue to cry, “Heal her now, O God.” This is the true way to heap coals of fire on the heads of those who injure us. We must pray for those who despitefully use us. 14 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. (Incases of extreme provocation an eastern father would spit in his child’s face, and then the child was banished from the father’s presence for seven days: how much more then should Miriam be shut out of the camp for a while when she had so grossly offended, and against the Lord, and had received so terrible a mark of the divine displeasure.) 15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. (This shewed their respect for her, and their grief at her sickness.)

Leviticus 23 — Welcome to the festivals! This is the Holiday Calendar, rather the Holy Day Calendar of the Israelite nation! Jimmy DeYoung discusses these feasts:
Each of the feasts has at least a historic and/or prophetic significance. These first three “spring feasts” are related to Israel’s past. The “Passover” is to remember the Exodus from Egypt and the journey to the Promised Land.
The second feast, the “Feast of Unleavened Bread”, is also associated with Passover. For seven days, the Children of Israel were to stop eating the “sourdough bread” to eat “unleavened bread” for the purpose of “separating” the bondage and the journey into the Promised Land. The third feast, the “Feast of First Fruits”, was to be the celebration and thanksgiving of the very first of the “barley harvest”. These thoughts cover the historic aspect of the first three Jewish feast days. These feasts also have a prophetic significance.
The “Passover” was a prophecy of the “Crucifixion” or sacrifice of Jesus. “Unleavened Bread” was to honor the “burial” of Jesus Christ. Then on the first day after the Sabbath, after Unleavened Bread begins, or Sunday, would be the celebration of “First Fruits”, and that pictures the day of the “resurrection” of Jesus.
The historic record indicates that Jesus was indeed crucified on Passover, buried on Unleavened Bread, and did, in fact, resurrect from the dead on First Fruits, thus Jesus fulfilled the first three of the Jewish Feasts, in the proper day sequences.
There are three “Fall Feasts” when Jesus will come back, enter into the Temple, and set up His Kingdom on these three Jewish feast days. In our next devotional from the book of Leviticus, we will look more in depth into these future events, which are foretold in these feasts that God has given the Jewish people.

He that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:8)
Sowing looks like a losing business, for we put good corn into the ground never to see it anymore. Sowing to the Spirit seems a very fanciful, dreamy business; for we deny ourselves and apparently get nothing for it. Yet if we sow to the Spirit by studying to live unto God, seeking to obey the will of God, and laying ourselves out to promote His honor, we shall not sow in vain. Life shall be our reward, even everlasting life. This we enjoy here as we enter into the knowledge of God, communion with God, and enjoyment of God. This life flows on like an ever-deepening, ever-widening river till it bears us to the ocean of infinite felicity, where the life of God is ours forever and ever.
Let us not this day sow to our flesh, for the harvest will be corruption, since flesh always tends that way; but with holy self-conquest let us live for the highest, purest, and most spiritual ends, seeking to honor our most holy Lord by obeying His most gracious Spirit. What a harvest will that be when we reap life everlasting! What sheaves of endless bliss will be reaped! What a festival will that harvest be! Lord, make us such reapers, for thy Son’s sake.
There are times when we can get caught up in our circumstances and forget Who God is, what He’s capable of, and how much He has us on His mind. Here are seven ways knowing God—truly knowing Him—can lessen your anxiety.
A recent study by Columbia Theological Seminary showed that stress and anxiety levels have never been higher—in our country, in our families, and in our churches.
The fact that those who believe in God tend to be just as stressed and anxious as those who don’t, indicates there’s a disconnect between professing a belief in God and truly knowing Him and what He’s capable of.
Scripture instructs us how we can live without worry and it straight out tells us not to be anxious about anything, because we have a God who cares for us. The phrase “Do not fear” is found more than 80 times in the Bible. Yet clearly, as believers, we find it easier to trust God with our eternal life than with our everyday life and all that causes us anxiety.
There are times when we can get caught up in our circumstances and forget Who God is, what He’s capable of, and how much He has us on His mind. I believe that might be the reason so many of us experience an anxious mindset—we have yet to apply what we know about God to our real-life situations and remember that He is absolutely capable of getting us through whatever we face minute by minute, day by day.
Here are seven ways knowing God—truly knowing Him—can lessen your anxiety.
1. Be convinced He’s in control, and you won’t feel the need to be.
1. Be convinced He’s in control, and you won’t feel the need to be.
SLIDE 1 OF 7
We all struggle with control issues. It’s in our human (and sinful) nature. But in our new nature, as we surrender to Christ, we can rest in the fact that He is in control of everything, even when it doesn’t appear so. Our anxiety level will surely change when we are convinced He can control all we think we must and all know we can’t.
Scripture tells us God is in control of our destiny (Psalm 27:1-2; Psalm 46:1-3; and Isaiah 43:2). He is in control when we are the ones who messed up (Psalm 37:23-24); or if life just goes awry (Romans 8:28-29). And He is in control of all that happens in the universe (Job 38:12, 16, 18). Furthermore, Psalm 18:30 tells us, “All His ways are perfect,” and therefore, God doesn’t make mistakes or fail to do what He intended. Knowing God is in control means you don’t have to try to be. And that can make you far less anxious about whatever is happening to rock your world.
2. Know He commands earth’s elements, and you won’t panic when disaster hits.
2. Know He commands earth’s elements, and you won’t panic when disaster hits.
SLIDE 2 OF 7
Jesus’ disciples claimed to believe He was God, but they didn’t have a clue about the extent of His power. In Mark 4, we read that they had a major case of anxiety when their boat was being tossed around in a storm, and they feared they would die—even with Jesus right there in the boat with them, sleeping amidst the storm. “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” they said to him, after waking Him from his sleep (verse 38).
After Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and waves (and the elements immediately became still), He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (verse 40).
Our anxiety level is directly related to our faith in Who God is and what He is capable of. The more you get to know Him, through His Word, the more you’ll be convinced He can handle anything that comes your way.
3. Be convinced He’s the one who keeps you safe, and you won’t fear for your health or wellbeing.
3. Be convinced He’s the one who keeps you safe, and you won’t fear for your health or wellbeing.
SLIDE 3 OF 7
You can invest in a top-of-the-line security system for your homes and take all sorts of precautionary measures to protect your body, your children, and your possessions, but ultimately God is the One who protects and keeps you safe. The psalmist wrote: “I will lie down and sleep in peace for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). And Psalm 121:2-3 tells us, “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber (Psalm 121:2-3).
When you realize God is tasked with your personal safety, you are in better hands with Him than with anyone or anything else.
4. When you know He cares, you won’t stress about your needs.
4. When you know He cares, you won’t stress about your needs.
SLIDE 4 OF 7
Scripture straight-out tells us to “not be anxious about anything” (Philippians 4:6 NASB), but to instead pray about everything—while knowing God hears and with the expectation that He’ll answer—and you’ll experience God’s peace. That is the Bible’s prescription for anxiety: Praying about your problems turns the panic into peace.
Jesus told His followers in Matthew 6: “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear…” because God cares for even the birds of the air, and we are “much more valuable than they” (verses 25-26). Jesus likened our worry and anxiety about our provision to that of the pagans, and pointed out we have a heavenly Father who knows what we need (verse 32). Then He told us not to worry about tomorrow because we can’t do anything about it anyway (verse 34). When you are convinced that your heavenly Father can and will take care of His own, that will lessen your anxiety.
5. When you know He is with you, you won’t fear your circumstances.
5. When you know He is with you, you won’t fear your circumstances.
SLIDE 5 OF 7
In my book, The New Loneliness, I point out, “the opposite of anxiety is confidence in the person and presence of God. As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus, follow His lead, and heed His warnings, we are safer and more secure than we can possibly be on our own.”
Hebrews 13:5 assures us God will never leave us nor forsake us. Psalm 139:7-12 also assures us there is nowhere we can go where God’s presence will not follow. Are you convinced He is constantly with you? If not, pray for a greater awareness of His presence and realize God’s guidance and protection isn’t dependent on whether or not you feel it, it’s dependent on the facts of His Word—that He will never let you out of His sight. Take Him at His Word and live less anxious as you realize, moment by moment, that He is counseling you with His “loving eye on you” (Psalm 32:8).
6. When you believe His is for you, the fear of others will dissolve.
6. When you believe His is for you, the fear of others will dissolve.
SLIDE 6 OF 7
Do you become anxious about what others might do to you? A manager who has it out for you or a neighbor or former associate who is threatening or harassing you? Romans 8:31 asks a rhetorical question: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” In other words, if you know the God of justice, the God of protection, the God of lovingkindness who cares for you more than you know, there is not a being on earth you should fear because no one can come up against the Almighty. God’s Word says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
Instead of fearing others, fear disappointing God by not trusting Him to fully care for you.

Did the gift of apostleship continue beyond the first century, or was it a unique office for the foundation of the church? In this session, Conrad Mbewe will explore what the New Testament teaches about the office of apostleship, their qualifications, and why this particular office has ceased.
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For almost a decade, authors J.T. English, Jen Wilkin and Kyle Worley have made it their mission to make theological education accessible to laypeople in the church.
They have also helped train church leaders to guide their people toward knowing the essential foundations of the Christian faith through Training the Church ministry cohorts, podcasts like “Knowing Faith” and other resources that have been useful for providing laypeople with tools for knowing and understanding Scripture.
On April 1, these authors are teaming up with Lifeway Christian Resources to launch “Deep Discipleship,” a 24-week program (two 12-week semesters) that equips and empowers participants to grow deeply in their faith within the context of the local church, allowing believers to engage with God’s Word in a meaningful and comprehensive way.
The “Deep Discipleship” curriculum offers an in-depth approach to discipleship that fosters both small group and individual Bible study on the essential foundations and doctrines of the Christian faith rooted and revealed in Scripture. “We believe theology is for everyone,” said Worley, pastor of Mosaic Church in Richardson, Texas. “The goal of this program is and has always been to make the deep things of God accessible to all the people in our churches — not just to a select few.”
“Deep Discipleship” is based on three core tenets that tie the curriculum together:
Christian story: understanding the grand narrative of Scripture
Christian belief: the essential doctrines of the Christian faith
Christian formation: how story and belief shape worship, mission and obedience to Christ
Unlike programs that require minimal engagement, “Deep Discipleship” will challenge participants to go deep by learning and growing in their biblical literacy, theological knowledge and practice of spiritual disciplines. The program includes a Group Starter Kit, which contains five “Deep Discipleship” journals, video-based teaching sessions, a digital leader guide, group discussion questions and weekly individual assignments.
Each Group Starter Kit includes five journals with the option to add more, depending on the size of each group. Participants will also receive digital access to three books, including “You Are a Theologian” by Wilkin and English, “Formed for Fellowship” by Kyle Worley (May 2025) and “Remember and Rehearse” by English (May 2025).
“One of the primary reasons we are facing a discipleship crisis is because local churches have lost a vision for discipleship in the local church,” said English, pastor of Storyline Church in Arvada, Colorado. “As the family of God, local churches are absolutely indispensable to shaping and forming deep disciples. In this program, every local church can expose their people to three indispensable elements for every disciple: the story of Scripture, the basics of the faith, and spiritual disciplines. Every single church and every disciple should have access to this program.”
According to Lifeway Research and Ligonier’s 2022 State of Theology report, many of the core tenants of Scripture are not strongly believed among evangelicals, revealing a crack in the church’s discipleship framework and methodology. For example, 43% of evangelicals agree Jesus was a great teacher but not God.
Additionally, a 2019 Discipleship Pathway Assessment study from Lifeway Research found that while 78% of Protestant churchgoers said they had developed significant relationships with people at their church, only 48% intentionally spent time with other believers to help them grow in their faith.
“Many church leaders have been told they must continually lower the bar to attract participants,” said Wilkin. “The opposite is true: people rise to a challenge and rally to a compelling vision. And in an age of rampant theological and biblical illiteracy, the time has never been better to call them to that vision through deep discipleship.”
Additionally, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary has partnered with Lifeway to offer participants their first seminary class free upon completion of the Deep Discipleship program. More information can be found at MBTS.edu/deepdiscipleship.

Is The Stage Being Set For Damascus To Be Utterly Destroyed And Turned Into A Heap Of Ruins? The Sunni radicals that have taken over Syria are demanding that all Israeli forces must leave Syrian territory. On the other side, the IDF is hammering military targets in southern Syria with a blistering wave of airstrikes, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that any military forces aligned with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham will not be allowed south of Damascus. Do you understand what this means? It means that Damascus is now right on the front lines of a conflict between Israel and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham that is rapidly heating up. If all-out war erupts, Damascus is likely to be absolutely devastated.

Germany Cancels 500-Year-Old Carnival—Islamic Terror or State-Sanctioned Surrender Munich has hosted traditional carnival festivals since the medieval period, dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. For over 500 years, these celebrations have been a constant feature of German culture. Now, they have been canceled—allegedly due to security concerns following the most recent Islamic terror attack in Munich, which left two dead and 39 injured.
US Department of Justice has tried to justify confiscating money from a small business by saying money is not property The US Department of Justice has argued that money is not property, claiming that confiscating $50,000 from a small business in Maryland does not infringe on his right to private property. The DOJ provided three rationales for this argument: the government creates money, the government can tax money, and the Constitution allows the government to spend money for the “general welfare.” The government’s argument could justify seizing anyone’s money without due process. “Before you run out and trade your USD for meme coins, let me reassure you,” lawyer Rob Johnson writes, “DOJ’s argument is wrong … Money is property.”
NHS is no longer a health service; it’s a church of woke The NHS has gone woke, James Esses writes and describes a conversation he had with a leading cancer surgeon. The surgeon said that the NHS has been taken over by “woke culture,” with resources being diverted into initiatives such as educating staff on “pansexuals” rather than patient care. The allocation of funds to “gender surgery” services would be better spent on cancer treatments; thousands of women are having healthy breasts removed due to “gender dysphoria,” which is a mental illness.

Epstein Files are coming: Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated last night that today will be the day for at least a partial release of the records of the, ahem, suicidal pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. She said there’s good reason for the delay — namely, that there are more than 250 victims, and their privacy rights must be protected. Still, she said, “What you’re going to see … is a lot of flight logs, a lot of names, a lot of information, but it’s pretty sick what that man did.” Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn has long led the charge for transparency, calling for the complete release of the files, including videos from Epstein’s Florida residence, the flight logs from his private aircraft, and the records of his partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell.
SCOTUS sides with Trump: Donald Trump’s efforts to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse have met with furious legal challenges from the Big Government Left. Still, Trump got some good news yesterday in one of those legal battles when Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts ruled on an emergency appeal from the administration that USAID could at least temporarily hold off on paying around $2 billion in aid work that’s already been completed. Roberts’s reprieve comes after a Trump executive order putting a 90-day freeze on foreign aid disbursements was ruled unlawful by U.S. District Judge Amir Ali, a Biden appointee.
State Dept. finds 15,000 grants and $60B to be cut: Following an “exhaustive review” of the State Department’s grant program initiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, roughly 15,000 grants totaling $60 billion have been identified for elimination. The majority of these grants were found under USAID and were aimed at advancing leftist ideological agendas around the world. A State Department memo noted, “Every dollar we spend, every program we fund, must be justified with the answer to three simple questions: Does it make America safe? Does it make America stronger? Does it make America more prosperous?” The Biden administration used taxpayer dollars to push DEI across the globe. That will now end.
Pentagon spent millions on non-defense DEI: Say what you will about those $1,300 reheatable coffee mugs used on KC-10 aircraft — at least the money was being flushed down the toilet on behalf of our warriors. But as the Heritage Foundation’s Wilson Beaver reports, “Research and development spending in the Department of Defense contains large sums of money being spent on non-defense spending, ‘centers of excellence’ sponsored as pork spending by congressmen never requested by the Pentagon, and politicized initiatives like DEI and climate change.” On the bright side, with waste like this, it should be easy for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to cut 8% of its budget in each of the next five years.
Healthcare price transparency: One of the most frustrating aspects of healthcare is the lack of clarity regarding costs. To address this problem, Donald Trump has signed an executive order mandating pricing transparency for healthcare. Unsurprisingly, hospitals and insurers oppose the rule, which Trump first issued during his first term. This new order directs the Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services Departments to enforce his original order mandating that hospitals post their prices for common procedures. Trump stated that it is “one of the biggest things that can happen” to reduce the cost of healthcare.
Illegal alien registry: Exactly how many illegal aliens are living in the U.S.? To answer that question, the Trump administration is looking to create an illegal alien registry. Anyone over 14 years old living in the country illegally has one month to submit their fingerprints and home address for the registry. Those who refuse to comply will face criminal charges, which could include up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine. The planned registry would not include migrants who have work permits or have applied for asylum.
Shameless Tapper writes the book on Biden’s decline and cover-up: After having spent four years covering for the cognitively addled Joe Biden, CNN’s Jake Tapper now wants you to cough up $32 to buy his book about “President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.” The book is titled “Original Sin,” but let’s be honest: The original sin was the lockstep refusal of Tapper and his MSM fellow travelers to report on what anybody could see as plain as day back in August 2020: Joe Biden was being propped up by the Democrats purely because he polled better against Donald Trump than Bernie Sanders did.
A massive increase in China cyberattacks: The cyber firm CrowdStrike recently warned that it saw a massive increase in China-linked cyberattacks and digital espionage this past year. “The scariest statement that I’ve ever uttered, before Congress or any place else, is that after decades of investment into China’s offensive capabilities, they’re now on par with other world powers,” said Senior Vice President Adam Meyers. CrowdStrike’s annual report noted, “Decades of government investment into China’s cyber workforce and programs have yielded matured capabilities and efficiencies as well as an increasing number of new, specialized China-nexus adversaries.” Furthermore, the firm predicts that detecting and defeating China’s cyberattacks will get more difficult.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is heading to Washington to sign a deal granting the U.S. access to his country’s rare earth mineral deposits. According to Donald Trump, “We’re going to be signing an agreement, which will be a very big agreement, that’ll be on rare earth and other things.”
The development marks a seemingly drastic swing from just a week ago when Trump, frustrated with Zelensky’s obstinance in negotiating a deal with Russia to end the years-long war, suggested that Ukraine started the war. While Trump later backed off that false claim, he expressed displeasure with Zelensky, and it may have been the necessary chess move.
Zelensky has been demanding the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, including Crimea, but he now seems willing to negotiate. Trump also labeled Zelensky a dictator for refusing to hold elections (Ukraine’s constitution forbids elections under martial law), but the Ukrainian leader has since expressed his willingness to leave office if it would secure peace.
For Trump, the agreement is a bit of a twofer. Not only is he looking to end the war in Ukraine, but he’s also looking to find access to rare earth minerals outside of China. Estimates are that Ukraine’s six known deposits may contain as much as $500 billion in mineral wealth.
That said, there are some significant drawbacks, not the least of which is the fact that two of those mineral deposit sites are located in Ukrainian territory that is currently occupied by Russian forces.
Furthermore, the data on these mineral deposits is rather old. These sites were last mapped in the 1980s. Independent geologist Tony Mariano observed, “To my knowledge, there are no economically viable rare earth deposits in Ukraine.” However, he added, “This doesn’t mean there aren’t any, only that further exploration and evaluation needs to be done.”
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is making the U.S. his own mineral offer, and Trump has far from dismissed it. “You know, they have massive rare earth. It’s … very large,” he said. “If we could do that, I think it would be a very good thing for world peace and lasting peace. Just as we’re doing with Ukraine, if we could do some economic development in terms of Russia and getting things that we want, something like that would be possible.”
The problem is that Putin’s mineral offer includes the aforementioned Ukrainian land occupied by Russian forces. If an agreement was made with Russia, would this not seemingly reward Putin’s decision to invade in the first place?
For Ukraine, with the prospect of joining NATO a nonstarter, getting the U.S. signed onto a mineral rights deal would afford a measure of future security against further Russian aggression since doing so would threaten U.S. assets.
Another issue, should this deal go through, is the message it sends to both Taiwan and China. If China elects to invade Taiwan, what assurances does Taiwan have that Trump will have its back? If China offers Trump some kind of deal in exchange for staying out of its efforts to take Taiwan, will Trump accept it?
What assurances does Taiwan have that it, like Ukraine, won’t end up getting sidelined in a deal-making process for peace? While Trump may see his efforts in Ukraine as finally ending the war, ironically, it may be sowing the seeds for greater Chinese aggression in Taiwan.
