WORLDVIEW: Evidence for God’s Existence (Part 4) | VCY

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Space, time, and matter are the purely natural elements that scientists claim can explain the very fabric of our existence, known as the Space-Time Continuum.

However, this theory also creates a huge problem for the naturalist because in order for the Space-Time Continuum to exist, it had to have come about all at the same time.

If you have time without space, WHERE would you put the matter?  If you had matter and space without time, WHEN would you put it?  Something SUPER-natural had to transcend all three of these in order to bring them into being all at the same time.

The Bible answers this in one simple sentence found in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning (TIME), God created the heavens (SPACE) and the earth (MATTER).

Once again, the Bible told us long before science could catch up!

Tune in next time for more simple evidences supporting the One who created everything … Jesus.

10. “Undistracted by Easy-Believism” by Patrick Slyman

The undistracted Christian is not reluctant or hesitant regarding personal holiness. Christ was sent to proclaim repentance, and He holds us responsible to live a life characterized by repentance. Undistracted by sin’s lure—the easy-believism gospel of our day—we must “strive for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14, ESV).

9. “The Greatest Reformer You’ve Never Heard Of” by Jacob Trotter

Peter Martyr Vermigli’s approach to theology was not markedly different from the rest of the Reformed. He drew from a wide range of authorities and sources, but they were all subordinate to Scripture. In this way, he set an example for later Reformed writers to eclectically appropriate various sources in a way that adhered to the Protestant principle of sola Scriptura.

7. “Distraction: Our Modern-Day Siren Song” by Patrick Slyman

If we are going to resist our modern-day Siren’s songs of distraction, then we will have to stop chasing the fleeting trends of our day. We will have to start disappointing those who try to fit us into their diverting agendas. We will certainly have to reevaluate what we deem essential and divorce ourselves from any pursuit of the American dream. Why? Because that is the only way we can make Christ’s priorities our priorities.

6. “The Most Terrifying Verse in the Bible” by Marco Bovino

I believe that out of the 31,102 verses in Scripture, there is none more sobering and terrifying than 2 Timothy 4:10. This quick, often overlooked comment is found in between names and greetings at the end of the last chapter of the last book written by the apostle Paul. But it should cause us to stop and ponder. There we find a reality more dreadful than hell itself. The mere thought of it should cause every genuine believer to tremble in fear and consider anew the state of their soul before the living God.

2 Timothy 4:10 teaches us that we can spend our entire life fooling everyone, including ourselves, but it also teaches us that God will not be mocked (Gal. 6:7).

5. “Stop Watching the News. Your Discipleship Depends On It.” by Nathan Williams

The news lacks perspective and depth in its analysis of events and people. It sees on a surface level and lacks the distance that time provides to truly grasp the heart of a matter. With the attention span of a goldfish, it moves on to the next “breaking story.” Constant exposure to this form of media will shape you into a “thin” person who lacks perspective and the ability to think deeply about a subject. You will get angry and then quickly move on. The “thinning” of your soul that will take place will harm your spiritual life.

4. “Prayer that Pleases God” by Michael Staton

It has been said that God may not always be pleased with humanity, but He is never perplexed. Heaven is God’s throne, and the earth is His footstool (Isaiah 66:1), so be assured that the pressures and problems we encounter do not confuse or intimidate our Father. It is with this confidence that we approach God in prayer. Our Father hears our prayers, and He is greater than anything we face.

3. “A Pastoral Response to Gender Confusion: Caring for Those Caught in the LGBTQ Religion” by Jesse Johnson

As US embassies around the world wave the Pride flag, there is no denying that LGBTQ has become the American culture’s center of gravity. Twenty years ago, the main American religion was prosperity. Now it is the LGBTQ movement.

How do pastors respond to the LGBTQ worldview? Or, more particularly, how do pastors shepherd their people to think rightly about the issues this movement raises? Here are five practical ways pastors can help their congregations navigate the LGBTQ culture.

2. “How Should We Think About the Current Situation in Israel?” by Michael Grisanti

The brutal attack into Israel by Hamas forces in October 2023 brings us face to face with the sad reality of mankind’s depravity. There is no justification for it, no political arguments that make it acceptable in any sense.

My purpose in this article is not to rehearse the abhorrent and tragic details of the violent actions by those committed to the purposes of Hamas and Iran. I also am not trying to pursue political ends. My desire is to help Christ followers know how to think and act in the wake of the dark evil and tragic violence that we have seen and heard about.

1. “Shepherds Conference 2023 General Session Notes” by TMS Staff

Romans 9:10-28 introduces the word that is the theme of our conference this year: remnant. The word remnant refers to a small section that is part of a greater whole. Throughout the Bible, this is how the people of God are depicted—the few who are chosen out of the many. This remnant is who we are, and it is who God has entrusted to our care for shepherding. We are those rejected by the world, yet chosen by God; unknown by the world, yet foreknown by God; persecuted by the world, yet predestined by God. We are the remnant—the small, the few, the little, yet precious in the sight of God.

Globalist Agenda:  Looking Back, Looking Forward | VCY

Date: January 10, 2024
Host: Jim Schneider
Guest:  Gary Kah
MP3 | Orderhttps://embed.sermonaudio.com/player/a/110242219174882/

The globalist agenda never gives up.  It backs off for a while only to be repackaged in another wrapper.  However, its goals always remain the same because it strikes at national sovereignty, taking every opportunity to gain central power in its desire to dominate the lives and liberties of people around the world.

To prove this point via the latest news on this subject, Jim welcomed back Gary Kah.  Gary is founder and director of Hope for the World.  Gary is Editor of Hope for the World Update.  He’s an author and former Europe & Middle East Trade Specialist for the Indiana State Government.

Gary began with comments concerning Israel’s war with Hamas.  He believes that the timing of this war is not coincidental and that it’s intended to set the stage, through fear and panic, for a lunge into a more globalist system.

This war has a lot of “moving pieces” and Gary shared what they’re up to as he noted that 10 top Iranian generals took up positions in Syria, so Iran is basically running things there.  Also, unlike Hamas, Hezbollah has over 120,000 precision guided rockets and missiles to launch at Israel.  So right now all the weapons are coming from Iran, through Syria, and into southern Lebanon and if Hezbollah ramps up their efforts, Israel is going to have to respond and that might mean going after Syria.

Complicating matters are the Russian advisers that Gary indicated have been there all along.  This means that if Russia and Iran become part of the war, while simultaneously you have the Russia/Ukraine war taking place, this could grow into something much larger than a regional conflict.

Another major point of conversation concerned COP28 that was held in Dubai in November/December.  The name comes from the fact that it was the 28th meeting of the “Conference of the Parties.”  This dealt with the environment which is part of the larger one-world agenda.

Gary explained that many people aren’t aware of the fact that the UK played a major role in this and that King Charles is seen as the de-facto leader of the global environmental movement.

The official COP28 global mandates were to go into effect on December 13, the day after the Dubai meeting ended.  That launched a 7 year plan for full implementation by the the end of 2030 in line with the U.N.’s 2030 agenda.

Gary shared much more including details on the U.N. Summit of the Future, slated for September, that seeks to put forth a stronger international response to global shocks.  They want emergency powers to become a governing global body and any member nation of the World Health Organization would be obliged to go along with whatever the U.N. does.

Stay on the cutting edge as Gary brings you the latest news concerning U.N. world health, environment and world government activities.

Government Theories on Climate Change and Disasters ‘Flawed and Misleading’ | The Gateway Pundit.

‘Reporters will uncritically parrot and amplify NOAA’s claims’

The annual report from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that purports to assess the number of “billion-dollar” weather events in the nation each year is used by politicians to set environmental policy.

Scientists cite it in their claims that climate change, which was called global warming until the warming stopped, is impacting the world and people need to give up some elements of their lifestyle to counter it.

The media, of course, portray it as reality as part of the agenda that industry has, under the leadership of Joe Biden, to move toward electric cars that don’t function in cold weather and renewable power sources that can’t meet the nation’s needs.

But that highly influential report, a scientist now has confirmed, is “flawed and misleading.”

In fact, Roger Pielke Jr., a professor of environmental studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder who has done extensive research for more than 30 years on the costs of disasters, charges that the trends are actually declining.

His review of the NOAA’s current report, which claims there were 28 such weather events during 2023, a record, charges, “For more than two decades, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has popularized a count of weather-related disasters in the United States that it estimates have exceeded one billion dollars (inflation adjusted) in each calendar year starting in 1980. The dataset is widely cited and applied in research, assessment and invoked to justify policy in federal agencies, Congress and by the U.S. President.”

He said he reviewed the “dataset under criteria of procedure and substance defined under NOAA’s Information Quality and Scientific Integrity policies. The evaluation finds that the ‘billion dollar disaster’ dataset falls comprehensively short of meeting these criteria. Thus, public claims promoted by NOAA associated with the dataset and its significance are flawed and misleading. Specifically, NOAA incorrectly claims that for some types of extreme weather, the dataset demonstrates detection and attribution of changes on climate timescales. Similarly flawed are NOAA’s claims that increasing annual counts of billion dollar disasters are in part a consequence of human caused climate change. NOAA’s claims to have achieved detection and attribution are not supported by any scientific analysis that it has performed. Given the importance and influence of the dataset in science and policy, NOAA should act quickly to address this scientific integrity shortfall.”

report at Just the News pointed out the findings about the NOAA failures.

It “lacks transparency that would allow the sources of the data to be verified. The cost figures are not adjusted for changes in wealth over time, which produces misleading results, and the agency is incorrectly attributing the trends to changes in climate.”

(Pixabay)

The report pointed out the dangers of the disinformation being promoted by the government.

“The numbers receive a lot of media attention every year, and reporters present the numbers as evidence that extreme weather events are becoming more destructive as a result of climate change.”

It explained Pielke normalized the disaster costs, “which means he adjusts for differences in wealth over time.”

He explained that simply reflects that a category 3 hurricane hitting Miami Beach in 1926 would impact development far less than a storm of equal intensity today.

He warned that the NOAA’s lack of transparency in its report, and its failure to follow its own guidelines for “scientific integrity,” means the agency is “incorrectly attributing the trends to changes in climate over time.”

That leads to more danger, he warned: “Reporters on the climate beat will uncritically parrot and amplify NOAA’s claims, and before long, the dataset will find itself cited in the peer-reviewed literature.”

An NOAA spokesman told Just the News its reporting follows the agency’s own “Information Quality and Scientific Integrity Policies,” rules that are set up and controlled by the agency alone.

Pielke said climate change is “real” and “important,” but disinformation that is promoted by the government can “lead to bad decisions that fail to limit risks.”

At the basic level, he explains, NOAA refuses to include any transparency on its sources, input data or methodologies, so “no independent researcher can replicate the agency’s calculations to verify their accuracy.”

He concluded: ““Any claim that the NOAA billion-dollar disaster dataset indicates worsening weather or worsening disasters is incomplete at best and misleading at worst.”

3 Extremely Alarming Developments Which Could Have Enormous Global Implications | The Economic Collapse.

Global events are moving very rapidly now, and rumors are flying all over the place.  I am going to share some very alarming developments with you in this article, but it is important for me to note that each of these stories is still developing.  So as we get more information these stories may move in different directions.  We have already seen so much happen during the initial days of 2024, and I am entirely convinced that things will get even more chaotic as this year rolls along.

Just within the past 24 hours, several more bombshell stories have appeared in the news cycle.  The following are 3 extremely alarming developments which could have enormous global implications…

#1 Hospitals In Northern Israel Are Being Ordered To Prepare For “Thousands Of Casualties”

We have seen a series of escalations on the northern front in recent days, and that includes the assassination of the brother-in-law of the leader of Hezbollah.  Now, Israeli media is telling us that hospitals in the north are being ordered to get ready to receive large numbers of war casualties

Israeli media reports IDF ordered preparation for the expansion of the fighting in the north (Lebanon).

Israeli Ministry of Health ordered the hospitals to be prepared to receive “thousands of casualties” in a short time.

Why would such an alert get issued now?

Is something major about to happen?

According to a prominent Israeli news source, one hospital has actually been instructed to prepare for a “desert island” situation…

The Israeli Health Ministry ordered hospitals in the north to be ready to receive thousands of wounded, under extraneous conditions, as fighting intensifies on Israel’s border with Lebanon, according to a report by Kan.

The Ziv Hospital in Safed and the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya started preparing for what has been described as a “desert island” situation, meaning days without equipment, medicines or food in the event of a massive Hezbollah attack.

The hospitals in Safed and Nahariya have also been instructed to prepare for the transfer of patients to other medical centers. Furthermore, the Health Ministry advised an increased vigilance and preparedness in all hospital systems and health insurance funds across the country.

To me, it certainly sounds like Israeli authorities are anticipating that a full-blown regional war could soon break out, and that would have massive global ramifications.

#2 A Deadly New Variant That Is 100% Fatal In Mice “Due To Infection Of The Brain”

I don’t even know what to make of this story.

Apparently, a team of scientists has been messing around with a coronavirus variant that has killed all of the mice that have been exposed to it…

The research group of former PLA scientist Yigang Tong has published a new paper showing a “pangolin” coronavirus (GX_P2V) variant is 100% fatal to hACE2 mice likely due to infection of the brain.

You can see the research paper for yourself right here.  Needless to say, any variant that can cause “100% mortality” in human ACE2-transgenic mice should deeply concern all of us…

SARS-CoV-2-related pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V(short_3UTR) can cause 100% mortality in human ACE2-transgenic mice, potentially attributable to late-stage brain infection. This underscores a spillover risk of GX_P2V into humans and provides a unique model for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2-related viruses.

Hopefully someone doesn’t make a “mistake” that results in this new variant getting “accidentally” released.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Dr. Peter Daszak has discovered “a never-before-seen virus with ‘almost’ as much potential to infect humans as Covid”…

A zoologist whose organisation funded controversial experiments in Wuhan which some fear started the pandemic has presented the discovery of a never-before-seen virus with ‘almost’ as much potential to infect humans as Covid.

Dr Peter Daszak, head of the New York based non-profit EcoHealth Alliance, detailed his finding in bats at an event held by the World Health Organization (WHO) on future pandemic research preparedness.

EcoHealth had its funding pulled and projects to find viruses in China cancelled due to concerns about its ties to the Covid lab leak theory — but it has continued to operate in Thailand and other parts of Asia with millions of dollars in US government grants.

As I have repeatedly warned my readers, we live in an era when great pestilences will erupt quite frequently all over the globe.

It is just a matter of time before the next global pandemic arrives, and so I hope that you have been getting ready.

#3 Civil War In Ecuador

Have you heard about what is happening in Ecuador?

We are being told that a “civil war” has erupted, and at this point the entire nation has descended into a state of complete and utter chaos…

Ecuador is descending into civil war after a bunch of masked thugs stormed a television station in the port city of Guayaquil yesterday while taking prison guards hostage and murdering civilians.

Viewers watched in horror last night as the men threatened presenters and workers with automatic weapons and explosives on live television, with the sound of gunshots and terrified hostages begging for mercy audible in the background.

Of course the incident at that television station was only a small part of the widespread violence that we witnessed on Tuesday

The terrorist actions committed by Ecuador’s criminal gangs on Tuesday — which included kidnappings, prison riots, and the use of explosive devices against civilian and police vehicles — left at least ten dead, including two policemen. On early Wednesday morning, police authorities found a burned vehicle with three burned people inside in a Guayaquil neighborhood.

The internal conflict decree designates over 20 of Ecuador’s most dangerous criminal gangs as military targets, allowing the nation’s armed forces to conduct operations to “neutralize” them. The decree goes hand in hand with a 60-day state of emergency declaration and curfew President Daniel Noboa approved this week.

Over the past few years, we have seen a series of pro-western governments fall around the globe.

Will Ecuador be the next domino to tumble?

Let us hope not, but at this point the tight grip that the U.S. and the EU once had on so much of the planet is starting to falter.

We really have entered a period of tremendous worldwide chaos, and I fully expect things to get even more wild during the months ahead.

Anthony Fauci Finally Admits the Truth About Evidence Behind COVID Guidelines | The Gateway Pundit | by Jack Davis, The Western Journal

Americans who trusted the science when Dr. Anthony Fauci told them to be six feet apart to prevent the spread of COVID-19 learned Wednesday there was no science behind the edict.

After two days of interviews behind closed doors to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, a news release posted on the website of the House Oversight Committee revealed that “Fauci claimed that the ‘6 feet apart’ social distancing recommendation promoted by federal health officials was likely not based on any data. He characterized the development of the guidance by stating ‘it sort of just appeared.’”

GOP Rep.  Brad Wenstrup of Ohio, the panel’s chairman, said Fauci admitted to legislators that “the policies and mandates he promoted may unfortunately increase vaccine hesitancy for years to come.”

“He testified that the lab leak hypothesis — which was often suppressed — was, in fact, not a conspiracy theory,” Wenstrup said. The lab leak theory claims that the coronavirus was released from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, and not from natural sources, as Fauci initially claimed.

The release noted that the admission came “nearly four years after prompting the publication of the now infamous ‘Proximal Origin’ paper that attempted to vilify and disprove the lab leak hypothesis.” The release also said Fauci, who denied trying to pressure the CIA on the lab-leak theory,  “played semantics with the definition of a ‘lab-leak.’”

“Dr. Fauci’s transcribed interview revealed systemic failures in our public health system and shed light on serious procedural concerns with our public health authority. It is clear that dissenting opinions were often not considered or suppressed completely,” Wenstrup said.

During Fauci’s second day of testimony, he said that he advised colleges to imposevaccine mandates on students.

release summarizing the first day of Fauci’s testimony quoted Wenstrup as saying that Fauci “signed off on all domestic and foreign research grants without reviewing the proposals and admitted that he was unaware if NIAID conducted oversight of the laboratories they fund.” Fauci, who is now retired, was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“It is also concerning that the face of our nation’s response to the world’s worst public health crisis ‘does not recall’ key details about COVID-19 origins and pandemic-era policies,” Wenstrup said. The release said Fauci claimed more than 100 times that he could not recall events about which he was questioned.

The release said Fauci continued to deny, as he has in the past, that the National Institutes of Health funded “gain-of-function research in Wuhan,” where COVID-19 emerged, noting that Fauci “repeatedly played semantics with the definition of gain-of-function in an attempt to avoid conceding that NIH funded potentially dangerous research in China.”

Republican Rep. Michael Cloud of Texas, a member of the panel interviewing Fauci, said the former White House adviser has an “amazing ability to either forget what happened or then to find ways to shirk any sort of responsibility for the influence that was had,” according to the New York Post.

“They wash their hands of any sort of responsibility, saying, ‘Oh, those decisions were made by school districts.’ But the school districts know, if you don’t follow the guidance that’s coming out of the federal government, you open yourselves up to lawsuits,” Cloud said.

“He says he’s still not convinced that there was learning loss — that in his view, that’s still really open for discussion. I think [if] you ask any parent, they’ll tell you it was a major hit on their child’s development,” he said.

Wenstrup said Fauci “admitted that the mandate could increase vaccine hesitancy,” according to the Washington Examiner.

“I can’t get into his mind, but I think he felt it was the right thing to do because he thought it would save lives, but he basically was saying the lesson learned [was it] didn’t get into the psyche of America,” Wenstrup said.

“We have a problem in our country, and now people don’t want to get any vaccines,” Wenstrup said. “The mRNA vaccine is different. The messaging was never really good, and I don’t think America ever felt like they were being educated. They were getting indoctrinated,” he said.

Transcripts of the interviews will be released in the future, Wenstrup said.

6 Top Takeaways From Trump’s Debate-Skipping Town Hall | The Daily Signal.

Donald Trump again counterprogrammed a Republican presidential debate Wednesday night, skipping another opportunity as the front-runner to take on his GOP challengers.

“Remember this: Our ultimate retribution is success,” Trump said during one memorable moment as he appeared live on Fox News Channel for town hall-style questions from an audience while CNN aired a fifth official debate.

This time, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sparred with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who was Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, as two of CNN’s three qualifying candidates. Trump decided not to appear, although both events occurred in Des Moines ahead of Monday’s Iowa caucuses.

A fourth remaining Republican presidential candidate, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, did an online event with podcaster Tim Pool. Another contender, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, suspended his campaign earlier Wednesday.

Here are six big takeaways from Trump’s debate-skipping town hall.

1. ‘You Have Chaos Now’

Trump was asked about concerns and accusations that he would be the “chaos” candidate.

“You have chaos now,” Trump responded, referring to the Biden administration. “We have chaos at the border.”

He later added: “We now have the worst border in history. We had the best border.”

Trump also talked about the various investigations, past and present, targeting him.

“Most of the chaos was caused by the Democrats constantly coming after me,” Trump said, pointing to the “Russian collusion” accusations and his impeachment over a phone call to Ukraine’s president.

Trump said there was less chaos in the world when he was in the White House. “I didn’t have any wars,” he said.

“I think bedlam is Joe Biden,” he said.

2. ‘Not Going to Be a Dictator’

Trump also sought to tamp down Democrat attacks that he would become a dictator if elected to another term.

Fox’s town hall event with the former president was hosted by news anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. In a similar event Dec. 5 hosted by popular Fox host Sean Hannity, Trump joked about being a dictator only on his first day back as president, but not after that.

“We are closing the border and drilling, drilling, drilling. Other than that, I am not a dictator,” Trump told Hannity.

Democrats and some in the media seized on the sound bite.

Trump was more clear during the Wednesday night forum. He blamed the media for distorting a joke.

“The press picks it up, I say, ‘I’m going to be a dictator for one day,’” Trump said. “They cut it to say, ‘I’m going to be a dictator.’ But they cut the rest of the sentence.”

He continued:

I am not going to be a dictator. I am going to manage, like we did.

We were so successful that the country was coming together. It was actually coming together and coming together well. It was a beautiful thing to see, and we’re going to do that again.

Baier brought up President Joe Biden’s insistence in a speech Friday that Trump declined to say that political violence isn’t acceptable.

“Well, of course that’s right,” Trump quickly responded to the idea that there is no place for political violence in America.

3. ‘Didn’t Actually Have a Shutdown’ During COVID-19

An audience member who identified herself as the owner of a small business asked Trump if he would ever shut down the economy, similar to what happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump asserted that he didn’t favor a national shutdown of the economy during the pandemic, but allowed states and their elected officials to decide what to do.

“I’m a federalist in a sense, because that’s the federalist way,” Trump said of his deference to the states. “No, I didn’t actually have a shutdown, despite the fact that some people wanted to and some people didn’t want to. But we had some great governors. The governors that did the best job were Republican governors, and they were the ones that didn’t shut down.”

Trump also denied that he listened that much to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who advised the Trump administration on COVID-19 and took on a greater role in the Biden administration.

Many conservatives criticized Trump for following Fauci’s advice.

“Dr. Fauci was not a huge focus in my administration,” Trump said. “He wasn’t a big factor with me. He was a really big factor, after I left, with Biden.”

Also on the economy, Trump said his administration would have begun paying down the national debt had not COVID-19 surfaced and required an infusion of government spending to avoid a depression.

He used energy policy as an example of how he would help businesses as well as individual taxpayers.

“I’m going to cut their energy prices in half,” he said of businesses, by not buying into what he called “the crazy electric car mandate” and “the green new scam.” Instead, he promised to focus on achieving “energy dominance” rather than only “energy independence.”

4. ‘Happen to Be for Exceptions’ on Abortion

One audience member praised Trump for his role in the Supreme Court’s overturning of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that nationalized abortion on demand. But she pressed the former president on criticizing Iowa’s heartbeat law and asked for clarity on the life issue.

“They were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated and I did it, and I’m proud to have done it,” Trump said, to applause.

However, Trump said, he was for exceptions to allow abortion.

“I happen to be for exceptions—like Ronald Reagan—the life of the mother, rape, and incest,” he said.

“We still have to win elections. Otherwise, we will be back where we were,” Trump added of the divisive abortion issue.

Biden targeted Trump on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, for taking credit for overturning Roe v. Wade.

“Just like he said: he did it,” Biden posted.

5. ‘Largest Deportation Effort’

Trump got a question from the audience about illegal immigration and border security. At one point, he said that “18 million people” will have entered the U.S. unlawfully by the time Biden’s four-year term ends.

“It’s not sustainable for our country,” the former president said. “We have millions and millions of people here. It is not sustainable. Did you see in New York City where they are getting the regular students out [of school] and they are putting migrants in their place?”

“We are going to have the largest deportation effort in the history of our country. We are bringing everybody back to where they came from. We have no choice,” Trump said to applause.

Trump added, in response to a question, that so-called sanctuary cities and counties will go away because Democrat mayors and county executives can’t sustain them. He referred to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat who has been critical of federal immigration policies under Biden and the number of illegal aliens who have arrived in his city.

6. ‘Ultimate Retribution Is Success’

Baier pressed Trump about previous references to “retribution” against political opponents, asking how much of a second term “would be about looking forward?”

Trump first defended the notion of retribution.

“Look at what they did: the Russia-Russia-Russia hoax, the FBI-Twitter hoax, the 51 intelligence agents hoax. All of these different hoaxes that they did,” Trump said. “A lot of people would say that’s probably quite normal.”

But the former president quickly said he would focus on the economy if elected again.

“I’m not going to have time for retribution,” Trump said. “We’re going to make this country so successful again, I’m not going to have time for retribution. And remember this: Our ultimate retribution is success.”

At one point, Trump said a depression could occur if Biden wins reelection.

“I think if I wasn’t leading, the stock market would be 25 points lower,” Trump said.

A crash would not happen on his watch, he said, referencing President Herbert Hoover, who was in office during the stock market crash of 1929 that led to the Great Depression.

“I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover, and I won’t be Herbert Hoover,” Trump said.

For What Are You Living? | The Aquila Report

Death brings an end to our lives. Generations come and go. History books are updated. Our trophies end up in the trash. Our diplomas turn to dust. Our publications go out of print. We must not live for things that have no eternal value. Instead, we must put God at the center of our story, and live for Him, “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:21).

If someone observed your life for a week, for what would they conclude you are living? Would they observe that you oppress others for power? Would they witness you being envious, foolish, a workaholic, or greedy? Would they say you pursue rugged individualism, or isolate yourself to gain power, position or prestige? The Preacher of Ecclesiastes observes these things in the people around him, and brings them to our attention in order to reveal for what we should be living (Ecc. 4:1-16).

When the Preacher saw “the tears of the oppressed” with “no one to comfort them” he concluded that it would be better for them to be dead than alive, and even better to have never been born (Ecc. 4:1-3). In a broken world oppression is a sad but true reality for many people. But the Lord sees the affliction of His people, hears their cry, and knows their sufferings. He demonstrated this when He delivered the oppressed Israelites out of the land of Egypt (Ex. 3:7-10). But He most fully demonstrated this when He sent His Son into the world “to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18). Ironically, our liberty came at the cost of His oppression. But it was through the cross that God “disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them” (Col. 2:15). Thankfully, there is coming a day when oppression will be no more. In the new Jerusalem, “God himself will be with [His people] as their God” and “will wipe away every tear from their eyes” (Rev. 21:3-4). In the meantime, we live in the midst of a fallen world where we will witness oppression. Therefore, the church needs to do everything she can to comfort and help the victims in the name of Jesus Christ.

If power drives the oppressor, then envy drives the workaholic (Ecc. 4:4). But gaining in toil and skill motivated by envy of one’s neighbor gets one nowhere in the end. “Bitter jealousy and selfish ambition” is “earthly, unspiritual, demonic” and leads to “disorder and every vile practice” (Jas. 3:14-16).

Naturalism: Bumping into Reality | The Aquila Report

Naturalism denies the obvious, reducing human beings to physical parts stuck together without reason or purpose—biological accidents, cosmic junk. No wonder they call it nihilism—nothing-ism. And when you start really believing nothing-ism about human beings, bad things begin to happen. Most of us know better, though. Deep inside, we know we’re not simply chunks of meat in motion. Reality informs us there is something wonderfully unique about humans—qualitatively, not just quantitatively. Humans are special, wonderful, valuable.

To celebrate Stand to Reason’s 30th anniversary, we’re republishing classic issues of Solid Ground that represent some of the foundational ideas characterizing our work over the decades—ideas that continue to be vital to apologetics and evangelism today.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying my nine-year-old Annabeth’s theological common sense. “Papa, why don’t atheists believe in God?” she asked.

“Well, for a number of reasons,” I said. “Partly because they can’t see him, so they don’t believe in him.”

“Can they see atoms?” she offered.

“Good point. But I think they’d say that doesn’t count since they can still detect atoms with scientific instruments, something they can’t do with God. They won’t believe in anything they can’t measure scientifically.”

“That is the weirdest thing that I’ve ever heard,” she concluded.

My fourth grader was on to something that more educated types seemed to have missed: Lots of things are real that cannot be detected by science. How did she know that? She didn’t go to grad school. Innocence often sees the obvious.

Annabeth’s insight was about the inadequacies of naturalism, modernism’s worldview conviction that reality consists completely of material particles in a physical universe governed by natural laws.[1]

Naturalism is best summed up in Carl Sagan’s famous faith statement, “The cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be.”[2] No God, no souls, no Heaven, no Hell, no miracles, no morality, no sin, no forgiveness, no transcendent purpose—just molecules in motion. It’s the worldview of virtually all atheists and the methodological philosophy governing all science.

Entire cultures have been subtly indoctrinated with this physicalistic view. Even many religious people have a naturalistic impulse in their day-to-day dealings with reality, relegating whatever spiritual “beliefs” they have to the shadowlands of “faith.”

Dealing with naturalism can be daunting, until we realize we have a powerful ally working in our favor: Reality is actually on our side.

Reality, Our Ally

This is an insight I learned from Francis Schaeffer. If Christianity is true, he noted, then the worldview it presents is accurate—it describes reality the way it actually is even for naturalists who deny it. “Regardless of a man’s system,” Schaeffer pointed out, “he has to live in God’s world.”[3] This situation creates a problem for skeptics but an opportunity for us.[4]

Someone once said that reality is what you “bump” into (and sometimes get injured by) when you don’t take it seriously. Consequently, anyone who denies some significant feature of the world is headed for a collision. Skeptics are not just at odds with “religion,” then. They are at odds with reality. Their claims about the world dictated by their competing worldview are going to conflict in important ways with the actual world they experience every day.

Schaeffer called this the “point of tension,” a kind of dissonance between what naturalists say about the world and the way the world really is. Sooner or later, they’re going to affirm—sometimes without even realizing it—features of reality that make no sense given naturalism.

On the one hand, the naturalist speaks from his own worldview. On the other hand, the way he lives affirms things that have no place in his view of reality but make complete sense in ours. He is sending two conflicting messages at the same time but doesn’t realize it. He’s bumping into reality.

Atheist Richard Dawkins is a prime example. On the one hand, his naturalism dictates that morality is just a relativistic trick of evolution to get our selfish genes into the next generation. On the other hand, he rails against the God of the Old Testament as a vindictive, bloodthirsty, homophobic, racist, genocidal, sadomasochistic, malevolent bully.[5] Do you see the problem?

Clearly, Dawkins is not coming to this conclusion based on his naturalism. Instead, that’s his commonsense moral realism talking. His protest makes no sense in his worldview but is perfectly consistent with ours.[6] Dawkins is living in a contradiction on this issue. That’s the point of tension. He’s trading on our worldview, not his. Dawkins is bumping into reality.

There’s something else I want you to see, though—not just the contradiction naturalists live in, but also the explanatory power of Christian theism over naturalism. Here’s what I mean.

Important details of the Christian worldview fit nicely with the way we actually discover the world to be. They resonate with our deepest intuitions about reality. This “fit” is the classical definition of truth.[7] Consequently, Christianity has the ability to make sense of salient details of the world and of human experience that naturalism cannot.

I want to suggest some practical ways to take advantage of both the naturalists’ “bump” into reality and the superior explanatory power of Christian theism. My goal is to be shrewd and creative—to catch him by surprise, if I can—maneuvering with questions wherever possible. This is the heart of the “tactical” approach.

First, a qualifier. There is no “silver bullet”—no perfect answer, no magic apologetic trick guaranteed to change someone’s mind in a single session. Rather, my aim with people who are deeply committed to a false worldview is to try to plant a seed of doubt or uncertainty in their mind, or to get them thinking in a productive way about Christianity. I call it “putting a stone in their shoe.”

There are lots of different ways to do this with naturalism, but I want to focus here on three bumps with reality that create serious worldview problems for the naturalist yet serve to validate the Christian view. I’m going to call them “the bump of stuff,” “the bump of bad,” and “the bump of me.”

The Bump of Stuff

My starting point for this maneuver is simple: Stuff exists. Not too controversial. The naturalist cannot easily deny the existence of the material world. It’s her stock-in-trade, the only thing she’s certain about.

Here’s the fundamental question: Why is there stuff? Why is there something rather than nothing? Where did everything come from? What caused the universe to come into existence?[8]

Let me show you how this line of questioning plays out tactically in conversation. I was once asked during an audience Q&A to give evidence for the existence of God.

“Can I ask you a few questions to get us rolling?” I said to the challenger. He nodded. “First, do you think stuff exists? Is the material universe real?”

“Yes, of course,” he answered.

“Good. Second question: Has the stuff of the universe always existed? Is the universe eternal?”

“No,” he said. “The universe came into being at the Big Bang.”

“Okay, I’m with you. Now the final question: What caused the universe to come into being?”

At this point, he balked. “How do I know?” he said. “I’m no scientist.”

“Neither am I,” I admitted, “but there’s really only two choices: something or nothing. What do you think? Do you think something outside the natural universe caused it to come into being, or do you think it just simply popped into existence with no cause, for no reason?”

At this point, the skeptic who prides himself in his use of reason finds himself in a rational box. Both the law of excluded middle and the law of non-contradiction (it can’t be neither option, and it can’t be both) oblige him to choose one of only two logically possible options available.

To admit something outside of the natural, physical, time-bound universe is its cause would be to contradict naturalism. Yet, who is in his rational rights to opt for the alternative? Even if he thinks it possible the universe popped into existence, uncaused, out of nothing, it’s an understatement in the extreme to say it’s not the odds-on favorite.

Top 50 Stories on The Aquila Report for 2023: 11-20

In keeping with the journalistic tradition of looking back at the recent past, we present the top 50 stories of the year that were read on The Aquila Report site based on the number of hits. We will present the 50 stories in groups of 10 to run on five lists on consecutive days. Here are numbers 11-20.

In 2023 The Aquila Report (TAR) posted over 3,000 stories. At the end of each year we feature the top 50 stories that were read.

TAR posts 8 new stories each day, on a variety of subjects – all of which we trust are of interest to our readers. As a web magazine TAR is an aggregator of news and information that we believe will provide articles that will inform the church of current trends and movements within the church and culture.

In keeping with the journalistic tradition of looking back at the recent past, we present the top 50 stories of the year that were read on The Aquila Report site based on the number of hits. We will present the 50 stories in groups of 10 to run on five lists on consecutive days. Here are numbers 11-20:

  1. A Response to: “Music at the GA and the PCA”

What all those times of worship at our General Assemblies have had in common every year was enthusiastic congregational singing, from metrical psalms to classical hymns to contemporary songs.  All of that made the recent article, that was so critical of the singing at the Assembly, to be so very disappointing.

  1. Are Evangelicals Selling Their Souls for Israel?

With this in mind, it’s hard to believe the numbers are exaggerated. In fact, the situation could be much more dire. The question Evangelicals must answer is this, “Can Christians continue to support Israel’s wholesale slaughter of civilians without losing their soul?” The question should be answered with all haste because a genocide is taking place right before our evangelical eyes. Evangelicals need to come to terms with the reality that the modern nation state of Israel in not biblical Israel. Zionist Israel is a secular political entity unrelated to biblical Judaism.

  1. The Train is Leaving the Station

Stanley dismissed Biblical texts against homosexual behavior as “clobber” verses and said, “If your theology gets in the way of ministry—like if there’s somebody you can’t minister to because of your theology—you have the wrong theology.” This is not a misunderstanding. This is a trajectory that points to the Unconditional Conference and two speakers married to other men on the platform. This is a clear and tragic departure from Biblical Christianity. The conference has not been held yet. No doubt there will be a good deal of conversation once it has been held.

  1. The Two-Kingdoms Theology and Christians Today

First, the kingdom of God and the institutional church are wrongly equated by 2K advocates.  There is a rough consensus among New Testament scholars that the kingdom of God is a much more comprehensive reality than the institutional church, and this misidentification of the church and the kingdom has all sorts of unfortunate results, such as confusion over the nature of “kingdom work” and the silencing of Christians from speaking to societal issues.

  1. Danger from Within: A Warning from the Book of Jude

We need to be aware of what the main things and the plain things are so that we can set theological alarms in our hearts and minds. Because these false teachers creep into our churches, our ministries, and our Christian schools, we need pay attention and measure everything we hear by the standard of God’s Word.

  1. Shannon Harris Kissed Truth Goodbye

Shannon seemed to be an eager and vivacious woman trying her best to live up to manmade commands without experiencing a life built on Biblical Truth.  As with so many young men and women who have shared this experience, Shannon has chosen to identify as a victim seeking truth and wisdom from within herself. She sees God, if there is one, is a complete killjoy who wants to squash your dreams and thwart your liberty.  Shannon, now free from this bondage, has begun her crusade to liberate everyone else.

  1. A Biologist Explains Why Sex Is Binary

When biologists claim that sex is binary, we mean something straightforward: There are only two sexes. This is true throughout the plant and animal kingdoms. An organism’s sex is defined by the type of gamete (sperm or ova) it has the function of producing. Males have the function of producing sperm, or small gametes; females, ova, or large ones. Because there is no third gamete type, there are only two sexes. Sex is binary.

  1. PCA Minister, Rev. Harry Reeder, Briarwood Senior Pastor, Killed in Car Accident

Briarwood Executive Pastor Bruce Stallings released this statement to AL.com: “It is with a deeply heavy heart that I communicate to you that our Lord has called Pastor Reeder home through a car accident. Please pray for Cindy, Jennifer, Ike, Abby and their entire family as well as our staff and church family as we all grieve this tremendous loss together. But we do not grieve without hope because we know our pastor is with His Savior and has been received by grace with – ‘Well done My good and faithful servant.’’’

12 Rick Warren Knows Exactly What He Is Doing

Rick Warren and Saddleback have done us the service of showing their hand. They want to persuade us to abandon what the Bible teaches and follow them in another direction. How will we respond in New Orleans?

  1. An Overview of “Embracing the Journey”: A Ministry For Parents of LGBTQ Children

In early 2020, Saddleback pastor Chris Clark and his wife, Elisa, co-founded a Saddleback chapter of Embracing the Journey, a ministry for parents of LGBTQ children, with long-time Saddleback members, Doug and Shauna Habel. By the end of 2021, an ETJ newsletter revealed that Saddleback was hosting four ongoing ETJ support groups and one small group.

Study: KJP avoided 98% of questions about Biden scandals in 2023, including White House cocaine and classified docs – Conservative Review

A new study that compiled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s answers regarding Biden-related scandals found she had refused to give a concrete response for 98% of the questions in 2023.

The study, compiled by the right-wing Media Research Center, examined White House transcripts regarding major scandals faced by President Biden.

These included questions related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents by then-Vice President Biden, where documents were found in his garage and in libraries.

It also included corruption allegations against the Biden family for their business dealings in China and Ukraine, as well as the mystery of the bag of cocaine found in the White House’s West Wing.

Out of 337 questions from reporters related to Biden scandals, Jean-Pierre provided a concrete answer to only eight. This equates to giving a substantive answer just 2.37% of the time.

According to the Daily Mail, to have answered “concretely” meant that the response had to have either directly answered the question, clarified an ambiguity or provide new information, or even correctly given a “yes” or “no” answer.

By category, the press secretary answered anywhere between 0% and 3.4% of questions.

Out of 87 questions related to Biden family corruption, the administration’s head communicator gave just three “substantive answers,” or 3.44%.

The possible mishandling of documents was the most popular scandal for reporters to ask about; 220 total questions were asked of Jean-Pierre, to which she “concretely answered” just five times, or 2.27%.

In terms of questions regarding the mysterious and apparently untraceable bag of cocaine found in the West Wing in July 2023, reporters asked about the scandal 30 times.

During the 12-day cycle of the story from July 5 to July 17, 2023, Jean-Pierre did not give a “concrete response” to any of the questions, representing 0.0%.

Jean-Pierre was subject to a similar study halfway through 2023, which yielded similar results.

At that time, the study noted that of 252 questions between January 2023 and the end of June 2023, Jean-Pierre gave a definitive answer just six times, leaving her again with an answer rate of just 2%.

This included 217 questions about classified documents and 35 questions about Hunter Biden’s business deals. Five questions were directly answered about the documents, leaving room for just one definitive answer about the president’s son.

The Secret of a Satisfied Life | Bible Apologetics – A DAILY DEVOTIONAL

In my many discussions with most people who don’t know Christ a truly satisfied life is something that sadly seems but a distant hope. Yes, these people may experience moments of happiness but being truly content with life is an elusive dream. For the non-Christian the answer why dissatisfaction is the norm is quite simple. For you see we are all wired with a spiritual vacuum that only Jesus Christ can fill. Trying to fill this void with money, fame, comfort, and sex may bring some satisfaction but it is often very short lived. And the two elements that are foundational to a satisfied life – peace and joy – can really only be found in Christ.

But I have found that many Christians also struggle to find deep satisfaction in life, and frankly this should never be. I believe that missionary Hudson Taylor gave us a blueprint on how a believer, who is struggling with low satisfaction in life, can transform their life into a joyous adventure, when he said: “The real secret of an unsatisfied life lies too often in an unsurrendered will.”1

Jesus promises to give us great peace, abundant joy, a positive outlook on life, rich meaning, and an eternal hope – so why do many Christians miss out on these amazing blessings. Some Christians say, “if you only knew the circumstances that I am going through,” then you would understand why deep satisfaction in life is not possible. But for these unsatisfied Christians they are looking at life with the wrong perspective. For real peace, joy, and meaning, are not based on circumstances, but on being obedient to God’s will. For happiness is based on circumstances but real joy, which is a key component of a satisfied life, is based on walking in the will of God.

One of the most exciting things about the Christian walk is that when we surrender our wills to the Lord, He transforms negative circumstances into wonderful opportunities to overcome them, by the power of Jesus, and bring glory to God. And I have personally found that when I surrender my will to the Lord, the overarching desire of my heart is to be a vessel that God can use to bring Him glory. And when I do things that glorify my heavenly Father the joy, peace, and meaning I receive is literally off the charts!

My friends, the more time we spend reading the Scriptures, the more time we spend in our prayer closets, and the more we die to self and live for Christ, the more we will fall in love with Jesus. And the more we love Jesus, the more we will follow in the footsteps of the one who is the prince of peace, the real joy giver, and the one who lived the most satisfied life ever lived. And with a surrendered will the most amazing transaction takes place – you put a smile on God’s face and He puts total joy in your life! And I challenge you to find a better deal!

Unbroken Fellowship Essential | VCY

lf ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.John 15:7

Of necessity we must be in Christ to live unto Him, and we must abide in Him to be able to claim the largesse of this promise from Him. To abide in Jesus is never to quit Him for another love or another object, but to remain in living, loving, conscious, willing union with Him. The branch is not only ever near the stem but ever receiving life and fruitfulness from it. All true believers abide in Christ in a sense; but there is a higher meaning, and this we must know before we can gain unlimited power at the throne. “Ask what ye will” is for Enochs who walk with God, for Johns who lie in the Lord’s bosom, for those whose union with Christ leads to constant communion.

The heart must remain in love, the mind must be rooted in faith, the hope must be cemented to the Word, the whole man must be joined unto the Lord, or else it would be dangerous to trust us with power in prayer. The carte blanche can only be given to one whose very life is, “Not I, but Christ liveth in me.” O you who break your fellowship, what power you lose! If you would be mighty in your pleadings, the Lord Himself must abide in you, and you in Him.

Our Heart and our Treasure | Daily Thoughts about God.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34

As we go into the New Year let’s be retrospective and introspective. Yes, look back and look inward. Let’s be sure to take time to examine ourselves and the work of Christ in our lives to see if our treasure and our heart are synchronized.

In 1 Corinthians 11:28 we are told to examine ourselves before communing with the Lord. Make this self examination a time of spiritual reflection and soul searching. We must ask the Holy Spirit to take away all the things we placed in God’s way throughout this last year.

We must then allow Jesus to minister His cleansing and healing. And as we do, God transforms our thoughts, emotions, desires, and actions, aligning our treasure with our heart.

My Prayer for us this Week

Lord we tremble and do not sin; when we are on our beds, we search our hearts and are silent. We offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in you LORD. In Jesus name, amen.” Psalm 4:4 & 5

What Matters Most for the New Year | Daily Thoughts about God.

Moving into a new year isn’t as simple as merely turning the page on a calendar.

Sometimes, instead of an organized list of plans and goals the new year looks like a list of question marks.

The things of life don’t always fall neatly into place with everything sorted and resolved according to our best laid plans. When we turn a calendar page and a brand new year stares back, it reminds us how little we know about what tomorrow holds and how little control we have over events that unfold.

I have never found it realistic to believe we exert any legitimate control in this world and yet I hear people repeatedly declare how they love to be, and must be in control. When I look around, what I see is a world constantly spinning out of control.

As I enter this new year I will acknowledge that it isn’t about how much I know and how well I have planned for what lies ahead. Approaching this new year is about who I know and that is Jesus Christ. This relationship with Jesus sets the course for another new year and is the firm foundation on which my life stands.

Navigating this journey of life as a new year begins is also a process of holding tight to faith – a faith that endures the calendars of days to come.

Since the dawn of mankind in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve – to the dawn of a new year, God has been pursuing a relationship with us-built on faith and obedience in our walk with Him.

This relationship will grow and deepen when we consistently choose to seek the Lord and faithfully follow Him all the days and all the years of our lives.

As one year ends and the dawn of a new year begins, this is what matters most.
