Germany Admits Trump Was Right on Borders After Taking in One Million Syrian Refugees | The Gateway Pundit

Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that his government will begin sending Syrian refugees back home, declaring that Syria’s civil war has ended and that there are “no longer grounds for asylum.”

Under pressure from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), Merz is now adopting a tougher stance on immigration—one that bears remarkable similarity to the policies already in place under President Donald Trump.

Roughly one million Syrians live in Germany today, most of whom arrived after former Chancellor Angela Merkel’s 2015 decision to open Germany’s borders.

That policy changed Europe forever. It brought a wave of migration that overburdened welfare programs, strained hospitals and schools, and helped fuel the rise of the AfD.

Now, Merz is trying to undo Merkel’s legacy by working with Syria’s new government to return refugees—starting with those convicted of crimes.

This shift mirrors what the Trump administration has already done in the United States.

Since returning to office, President Trump has expanded border wall construction and signed new asylum agreements with Latin American nations to prevent the same border collapse Europe suffered a decade ago.

Illegal crossings have dropped to 0 in 2025, proving that strict enforcement and diplomacy—not open borders—restore stability.

Germany’s decision shows how Trump’s worldview is reshaping global policy.

Even in Europe, where leaders once mocked his approach, governments are recognizing that mass migration erodes national identity and drains public resources.

The same European elites who once lectured Washington on “humanitarian responsibility” are now admitting Trump was right: a nation that cannot control its borders cannot control its future.

For Germany, the political reality is clear. Polls show the AfD leading in parts of eastern Germany, driven by voters tired of paying for asylum programs that were never meant to be permanent.

Many residents in regions like Saxony and Thuringia feel that the government’s focus on resettling refugees has come at the expense of domestic needs—especially as energy prices, housing shortages, and inflation strain local budgets.

This growing resentment reflects deeper frustrations with Berlin’s immigration policies, which most say have prioritized political image over economic stability and border security.

For many voters, the AfD’s rise signals a demand for tighter migration controls and stronger national sovereignty.

Merz’s deportation plan is not a humanitarian betrayal—it is an overdue correction.

Europe’s open-border era is collapsing under its own weight, and Germany’s move marks the beginning of a continental shift toward sovereignty and law.

President Trump’s America has led that movement from the start.

While European leaders are only beginning to repair their migration crises, Trump has already proven that compassion does not require chaos.

The world is catching up to his vision—one built on security, responsibility, and the unshakable principle that borders matter.

CNN’s Scott Jennings TORCHES Hypocrite Democrats — Exposes Radical Left’s Love Affair with a Candidate Sporting an ACTUAL Nazi Tattoo While Smearing Trump as “Hitler” | The Gateway Pundit

CNN hosts discuss new evidence regarding a candidate's claims about a Nazi-linked tattoo during a live broadcast segment.
Scott Jennings (left) points out the glaring hypocrisy of Democrats who once accused conservatives of extremism but now defend one of their own under similar allegations. (Image credit: CNN)

Scott Jennings absolutely eviscerated the Democrat Party on CNN, laying bare their shameless hypocrisy on everything from Nazi smears to their embrace of far-left radicals.

For years, Democrats and their MSM lapdogs have hurled “Nazi” accusations at President Trump, Elon Musk, and anyone who dares challenge their radical agenda. They’ve even fabricated lies about Pete Hegseth having Nazi tattoos.

Jennings took to X to drop this truth bomb:

“Dem after Dem called Trump, Elon, etc. Nazis. They accused Hegseth of Nazi tattoos (FALSE). And now? The most popular Dem Senate candidate in AMERICA has actual Nazi tattoos & the full backing of the radical Sanders wing of the Democratic Party. OWN IT.”

Platner, a 41-year-old Marine veteran turned radical leftist, has a chest tattoo resembling the infamous SS Totenkopf skull and crossbones, a symbol straight out of Hitler’s playbook.

He claims he got it on a drunken liberty stint in Croatia and had no idea it screamed “Nazi,” but CNN’s KFile dug up deleted Reddit posts from 2019 where Platner discussed the very same symbol and its Nazi ties.

CNN reported:

A KFile investigation has uncovered mounting evidence that Platner — a Marine veteran— was aware of and defended the use of Nazi symbolism that had come to be embraced by some members of the military.

In one thread from 2019, Platner weighed in on a conversation about the “Totenkopf” — the skull-and-crossbones emblem worn by Nazi SS units that his own tattoo would later draw scrutiny for resembling — to note that many US service members had adopted similar imagery, such as the Punisher skull used by some Navy SEALs.

Using his longtime Reddit handle P-Hustle, the former Marine infantryman and future Democratic Senate hopeful also argued in a 2020 online discussion that “SS” lightning-bolt tattoos were a “culture” marker within Marine Scout Sniper units, not an expression of White supremacist ideology.

When commenters in the 2020 thread described the lightning bolts as a Nazi or racist symbol, Platner dismissed the criticism, writing that outsiders “have no idea what they’re talking about” and added, “I will be sure to inform the Black guys I know with bolts that they’re Nazis now.”

Instead of calling him out, the Democrats’ far-left base is so in love with this guy.

Platner has secured the endorsement of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and has received praise from several high-profile progressive Democrats in the Senate, including Elizabeth Warren, Chris Murphy, and Sheldon Whitehouse.

During a CNN panel discussion, Jennings laid it all out, exposing the Democrats for who they really are: all talk, no substance, and total hypocrites.

Here’s the explosive exchange:

SCOTT JENNINGS:
I hate to break the news to you, but he’s winning the primary by 30 points. Getting a Nazi tattoo made him more popular — more popular among Democrats. You’ve got a guy running for attorney general in Virginia who wants to murder Republicans, and he raised $500,000 off of it.

You got Nazi tattoo guy in Maine. I sat out here for a year, two years listening to every Democrat at this table say, Donald Trump’s a Nazi, Elon Musk’s a Nazi, and your party is now in love with a guy with a Nazi tattoo who trained a left-wing paramilitary group and called himself an Antifa super soldier on the internet, and he’s going up every day. Good luck getting him out.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
Your president —

SCOTT JENNINGS:
Good luck getting him out.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
The person you nominated, 1,600 insurrectionists. I don’t think the Republican Party has —

SCOTT JENNINGS:
You’re not going to wash away now the Nazi tattoo with the old talking point. It’s not going to work.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
And what did I just say? What did I just say? I said that he should resign.

SCOTT JENNINGS:
Good luck.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
And I think that Democrats should also speak out —

ABBY PHILLIP, CNN Anchor:
Scott, are you making an argument that he should stay in? You seem to be very eager to defend his strength —

SCOTT JENNINGS:
I am but a humble political analyst. And I will just tell you that when you’re winning a race by 30 points, if a pundit on television tells you what you need to think about dropping out, you laugh in their face.

ABBY PHILLIP:
I don’t know.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
This is a year out.

ABBY PHILLIP:
I feel like you ought to take the agreement when it’s happening. I mean, she’s saying pretty clearly —

SCOTT JENNINGS:
No. I want Democrats to be who they are. This is who they are. This is who they are.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
Hold on. You’re saying that Democrats are Nazis? Is that what you’re saying?

SCOTT JENNINGS:
I’m saying it’s very on-brand right now. It’s very on-brand.

ABBY PHILLIP:
Hold on one second. Hold on. Scott, really, like are you suggesting — are you suggesting that a person who wears a Nazi tattoo because he was in the military or whatever is representative of the entire Democratic Party? Is that the —

SCOTT JENNINGS:
I’m only reading the polling, Abby. When all this story broke and he started talking about it, he literally got more popular. He’s beating the incumbent governor by 30 points.

ABBY PHILLIP:
You realize that he’s running in one state — in Maine — and you’re also saying that because of that, he’s representative of the Democratic Party? You said this is who they are. Who is “they”?

SCOTT JENNINGS:
Look at the polling. Look at the energy.

MARÍA HINOJOSA:
This is not about the poll.

SCOTT JENNINGS:
Bernie Sanders wants him. The beating heart of the Democratic Party, where their energy is, wants the Nazi tattoo guy. That’s what they want.

[…]

SCOTT JENNINGS: Listen, I understand you don’t want to have this guy, and I wouldn’t either. He is a totally unknown guy, comes out of nowhere. He’s got the full support of the left wing, progressive SANDERS wing of the Democratic Party. And he’s beating—

JEMELE HILL: Is who supports is BERNIE SANDERS?

SCOTT JENNINGS: Yes. Look at the polling. And here’s the most important thing. He’s beating the incumbent governor of the state by 30 points. This isn’t happening in a vacuum. People are comparing an establishment figure like JANET MILLS and this insurgent left-wing radical like JARED PLATNER, and they’re like, you know what, we’ll take the Nazi tattoos. It’s fine.

And I just—I think you—look, it could be early but people are following this race and the polling is pretty clear, it’s not that close.

ABBY PHILLIP: Look, I think this is not obviously the first time that we’ve had an unsavory candidate endorsed by the establishment despite his passwords. That happened in an—

SCOTT JENNINGS: He’s not endorsed by the establishment. She is.

ABBY PHILLIP: Excuse me, but I’m saying like you’re suggesting that this is representative of the Democratic Party. I’m just saying, in the past, you know, there was a Senate race in Alabama in which DONALD TRUMP endorsed the candidate who had said all kinds of inflammatory things, all kinds of skeletons in his closet, and they ended up losing that Senate race to a Democrat. So, it’s happened before. This wouldn’t be the first time.

And, by the way, I mean, I do think both of you seem reluctant to take yes for an answer at this table, at least. You have two Democrats basically saying, this guy should go, and you guys are very insistent.

SCOTT JENNINGS: I’m glad they are.

ABBY PHILLIP: But he’s representative of the Democratic Party when they’re making it clear that he’s not.

SCOTT JENNINGS: I just don’t think this guy—look, he doesn’t answer to you. I mean, I wish he did and I wish you were in charge. He answers to the energy base in your party. And right now, the energy is behind these left-wing progressive kinds of candidates. This is who they want.

Hitler Brings Peace To Israel | Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a stunning development that experts said could change the course of geopolitics for the foreseeable future, Hitler announced a historic agreement that would bring lasting peace to Israel.

While historians were shocked to see that the man who was long thought to be the epitome of hatred toward the Jewish people had successfully brokered a peace treaty to usher in peace for the war-torn region of the Middle East, they had no choice but to acknowledge the positive impact Hitler was now having on Israel’s fortunes.

“Saving and protecting Jewish people is what Hitler is all about,” said one historian following the announcement of the ceasefire. “We all hoped there would someday be peace between Israel and all of its neighboring Arab countries, but I’ve got to admit, I never would have predicted that it would be Hitler who pulled it off. Well done, Hitler. You really came through for the Jews on this one.”

Members of the media and the public at large could hardly believe that Hitler had pulled off such a surprising peace treaty to safeguard the Jewish people. “It just goes to show that sometimes it’s the guys you’d least expect,” said one reporter following Hitler’s announcement in the White House. “For the last decade, all we’ve heard about this guy is that he’s ‘literally Hitler’ and how he was going to plunge the world into war and destruction like the first Hitler did almost a century ago. But, you know what? I’ve got to hand it to Hitler on this one.”

At publishing time, the Jewish people issued a statement of gratitude to Hitler for playing a key role in their survival.

How is secular left socialism going in Germany? | WINTERY KNIGHT

Americans can learn which policies work and don’t work by looking at policies that have been tried in other times and places. That way, we can avoid the mistakes that other people have already made. That’s one of the reasons why people like Thomas Sowell so much – he is always talking about which policies work, and which ones don’t. And in Germany, it’s mostly policies that don’t.

Here’s a fun article from Victor Davis Hanson, writing for the Daily Signal. If you’re like me, you already know Dr. Hanson from his writings on military history. But he likes policy, too.

He says:

Today I’d like to talk about the crisis facing Europe, specifically its self-implosion across the spectrum—energy, population, fertility, defense. Germany, for example, has been systematically shutting down its nuclear plants and, for a while, its natural gas electrical generation plants.

If you know your energy policy, then you know that natural gas and nuclear power are the two power sources pushed by conservatives. They are safe and reliable, and they are also zero emission. Best of all for me, they don’t kill bats, birds and other animals. Birds are my favorite animals, and that’s a huge reason why I hate wind and solar power – they kill birds in large numbers.

More:

the net result of all of this deliberate turn to wind and solar, at the expense of fossil fuels and nuclear, is that it costs about four times more to use electricity in Germany than it does on average throughout the United States. That’s not the only problem.

Germany is deindustrializing. And by that I mean it’s losing about 200,000 jobs in its auto industry due to these high energy prices and regulations. Its green mandates, especially electric vehicle mandates, have revolutionized the car industry, in the sense that they’re not selling abroad as they did in the past.

When you raise the prices of gas and electricity, it raises the price of all production of goods, and transportation of goods. The funny thing is that this has been going on for some time. I remember talking about Angela Merkel’s failed policies with an international student from Germany with I was in grad school. And they never pulled out of their death spiral! It’s still going now.

Anyway, the higher cost of gas and electricity is having big effects:

In addition to that, Germany’s disarmed. They only have about 125 attack aircraft. They have very few armored vehicles. Their active military is only about 180,000 soldiers.

They have 84 million people in the country. The fertility rate is getting very close to 1.4. I know we have problems here in the United States at 1.6, but 1.4.

And they don’t have borders. They have had a million to 2 million illegal aliens just prance into Germany, especially during the last years of the Merkel chancellorship. In terms of percentage of foreign-born, Germany has more foreign-born than does the United States, which doesn’t have a border in the south, at least until Donald Trump comes in. Twenty percent of the German population is foreign-born.

We have a new administration now, and if you look at the picks for Department of the Interior, and Secretary of Energy, then we should be getting some action on developing our own supply of clean energy. Let’s hope that we don’t make the same mistakes that the Germans made.

By the way, if people ask you “why are you a conservative?” it’s nothing to be ashamed of. You don’t have to bring up Bible verses, religious beliefs, or moral issues. Start with economic policies. Just tell them that conservative policies are policies that allow you to have a job, earn money, and spend it how you like. And when they ask you for an example, you can talk about energy policy, and how things are going in free countries that produce a lot of energy (like Norway) vs un-free countries that don’t develop a lot of energy (like Germany). Norway’s GDP per capita is $90,500 (great), but Germany’s is $61,900 (trash). That’s why we want to be like Norway, and we don’t want to be like Germany.

By arguing for conservative fiscal policies, you often will get an opportunity to argue for conservative social policies. Once people see that you have done your homework in one area, they will be more welcoming of your views in other areas. At the very least, you win whenever you can show your work.

Conservative policy is just “let’s do what works” and “let’s not do what does not work”. Secular leftist policy is “do what feels good” and “do what makes people like me”, but that often produces very bad results, especially for the next generation.

THE RIGHT STUFF: With German AfD Party Topping Opinion Poll for the First Time, Now Right-Wingers Lead Voter Preference in the UK, France and Germany in Historic Shift | The Gateway Pundit

France’s Marine Le Pen, Germany’s Alice Weidel, and UK’s Nigel Rafage: the rightwing advances.

Voters across Europe are thinking right.

The winds of change have been blowing across Europe with such force that even the Brussels Globalist establishment has failed to curb the populist right’s stunning growth.

Yesterday (12), a new opinion poll has shown that this process is in full swing, as the rightwing Alternative for Germany (AfD) has become the most popular party in the country.

Politico reported:

“If a national election were now held, 26 percent of Germans would vote for the AfD, according to a poll carried out by the Forsa Institute for Social Research and Statistical Analysis. That result puts the far-right party ahead of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s mainstream conservative bloc, which slid to second with 24 percent support in the poll.

With the far-right National Rally already leading clearly in France, the bombshell German survey is likely to fuel unease among mainstream leaders across Europe. Right-wing populist parties have performed strongly in elections in recent years from Poland to Romania, and Portugal to the Netherlands.”

Weidel says Merz is expanding on the losing policies by the ‘traffic light coalition’ led by failed former Chanceller Olaf Scholz.
The AfD party (in blue) has taken the lead in Germany.

“Forsa’s poll also indicated that, as Merz focuses on foreign policy issues like the war in Ukraine and Europe’s relationship with the U.S. under President Donald Trump, he’s in growing political trouble at home. A majority of Germans are dissatisfied with Merz’s chancellorship, with 67 percent saying they are “not happy” with his performance after 100 days in office, according to the survey.”

For the very first time in contemporary history, populist rightwing parties are leading the polls in Europe’s three largest economies: Germany, France and Britain.

NBC reported, always using smears such as ‘far-right’:

“This is a high watermark for the European far right, a once fringe movement whose virulently anti-immigration, anti-Islam and culture-war politics were shunned by the mainstream just a decade ago. Today, these parties have developed deep ties with President Donald Trump and his Republican allies, who openly cite nationalists such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as inspirations on policy and tactics.

For years, France’s National Rally has consistently led polls ahead of the country’s next presidential election in 2027. And Britain’s Reform U.K., led by Trump ally and friend Nigel Farage, has since April topped most polls there.

Far-right parties have been elected over the past few years into the governments of Italy, Hungary and elsewhere. The center right and the center left have hemorrhaged votes amid high inflation, fears over immigration and collapsing faith in institutions — all familiar issues in America, too.”

The Rise And Fall Of The West’s Propaganda Regime | ZeroHedge

Authored by Thomas Farnan via One-Legged Parrot,

Propaganda used to control Western democracies is running headlong into searchable facts freely available on the internet. As a result, the powerful cannot maintain their self-sustaining narratives and are behaving erratically and defensively, like bees when their nest is disturbed.

Opposition leaders in France, Romania, and Brazil have been barred from elections. They were accused of spreading “disinformation” and then prosecuted for unrelated crimes. In the United States, the same lawfare was attempted against President Trump, but he won anyway.

Sun Tzu’s first principle of war is “know the enemy,” but knowledge is difficult in an information war. Propaganda plants lies in every soul. In 1928, the father of modern public relations, Edward Bernay (who also happened to be the nephew of Sigmund Freud), wrote in his book Propaganda:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.

Propaganda works by contrasting two sides. Empathy for an opponent’s position is systematically removed by control of information. Public policy filtered through propaganda is always a binary choice.

In wartime, “us versus them” in a “kill or be killed” conflict provides the necessary binary, and propaganda writes itself. Domestic propaganda in peacetime is a bit trickier but works the same way: by staking out two sides.

Mass media permits distinct information sources. Elections award one side or the other with temporary political rule, but power is never actually surrendered. Each side simply acts as a fulcrum for the other side to pivot. Wedge issues inject urgency, but they are designed to produce a stalemate.

The resulting political system resembles a seesaw: there is an appearance of movement but only within the limited up-and-down physical arc of the acceptable narrative. Both sides push in the opposite direction to create controlled opposition, always in service of the status quo.

The way to defeat a propaganda regime is to find the first knot and to begin the slow process of untangling the mess.

In World War II, the U.S. government partnered with Hollywood to craft propaganda in support of the war. Elmer Davis, the head of the Office of War Information, described the program: “The easiest way to inject a propaganda idea into most people’s minds is to let it go through the medium of an entertainment picture when they do not realize they’re being propagandized.”

American wartime propaganda relied on a narrative gimmick called the hero’s journey. Moviegoers were treated to human transformation as entertainment. The backwoods huckster who fought the wisecracking city boy in basic training joined with him to face down evil on the battlefield and became heroes.

In 1949’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell summarized this storytelling method:

A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.

Cinema gathered people in dark rooms to have flickering images and later sound beamed through their prone sensory systems, telling stories that became part of the collective experience. Nazis, Communists, Democracies – all political systems – made use of film. Vladimir Lenin is quoted as saying, “Of all the arts the most important for us is the cinema.”

By manipulating its citizens through the medium of entertainment, the United States did not need gulags to imprison dissenters. Support for the war was self-enforcing. It became, in a word, fashion.

The problem with fashion – at least as a tool of policy – is that it changes. The ostensible reason for the war was to rescue Poland from tyranny. At the end of hostilities, though, the Soviet Union controlled Poland, Eastern Europe, and half of Germany.

Winston Churchill was voted out of office shortly after VE-Day amid public brooding about the wisdom of the bloodshed. British foreign secretary Ernest Bevin captured the public mood that led to Churchill’s ouster: “The Conservative Party carries a terrible load of responsibility for the muddle which led to the war.”

In the United States, an antiwar movie – The Best Years of Our Lives – won seven Academy Awards in 1946. The film included the following soliloquy, spoken to an injured soldier:

We let ourselves get sold down the river. We were pushed into the war…. the Germans had nothing against us. They just wanted to fight the Limeys and the Reds.  And they would have whipped them, too, if we didn’t get deceived into it by a bunch of radicals in Washington…. We fought the wrong people, that’s all.

Those who led their nations into war needed to explain what was accomplished by all of it, the most destructive human event in history. Wartime propaganda had already instilled a “we’re righteous and our opponents are monsters” binary. The info op continued after the war with the sanctification of the victors and the demonization of the vanquished.

Upon the surrender of Germany, a criminal prosecution was convened in Nuremberg on the premise that selected individuals were responsible for the war crimes of Nazism. The Nuremberg trials raised significant questions under standards of Western jurisprudence.

Senator Robert A. Taft criticized the prosecutions in a speech given at Kenyon College in 1946:

The trial of the vanquished by the victors cannot be impartial no matter how it is hedged …About this whole judgment there is the spirit of vengeance, and vengeance is seldom justice.

Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas would later summarize the problem:

No matter how finely the lawyers analyzed it, the crime for which the Nazis were tried had never been formalized as a crime with the definiteness required by our legal standards, nor outlawed with a death penalty by the international community. By our standards that crime arose under an ex post facto law… Their guilt did not justify us in substituting power for principle.

For taking this stand, Taft was praised by John F. Kennedy in his book, Profiles in Courage:

[Justice William O. Douglas’s] conclusions are shared, I believe, by a substantial number of American citizens today. And they were shared, at least privately, by a goodly number in 1946. But no politician of consequence would speak out…none, that is, but Senator Taft.

The Nuremberg judges prohibited any mention of Allied war crimes in the proceedings. There was one dramatic point during the prosecution of Defendant Karl Doenitz, Commander-in-Chief of the Nazi Navy, when American Admiral Chester Nimitz submitted an affidavit confirming that the U.S. Pacific Fleet had engaged in exactly the same behavior the tribunal was casting as a war crime. That was the lone exception that defied the rule.

As the Holocaust Encyclopedia points out, “Holocaust crimes were included in a few of the trials but were the major focus of only the US trial of Einsatzgruppen leaders.” The Einsatzgruppen were a German paramilitary force sent into Poland to round up and kill political enemies, including Polish nationalists, Catholic clergy, and Jews, most notably the September 1941 massacre of nearly 34,000 Jews at Babi Yar, Ukraine.

Viewed as a whole, Nuremberg was far from the reckoning of crimes against humanity that its historical stature gives it. This is a link to Robert McNamara in The Fog of War cataloging America’s participation in war crimes during World War II. Here, the most recent Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Ret. Gen. Mark Milley, admits to the common targeting of civilians during war. Posted here is an essay, The Rules of War are Broken, cataloging some of the more astonishing Allied war crimes that were never prosecuted.

Failing to consider any historical perspective that requires self-criticism encourages harmful glorification. In a Harvard Gazette interview about her 2022 book, Looking for the Good War, West Point professor Elizabeth D. Samet makes the point:

World War II gave us a way to look at the world as an unambiguous contest between good and evil. We have used a vocabulary that was inherited from it: Fascism became Islamofascism, the Axis Powers became the Axis of Evil, the second President Bush’s term to describe a constellation of unrelated adversaries. It also left us with the belief that the exercise of U.S. force would always magically bring about victory and would serve the cause of liberating the oppressed. As a result of that, we find ourselves, after decades of war and loss, having to reckon with the fact that our way of thinking and talking about war and about the world is hopelessly out of date….

When the war ended, the United States entered a struggle with the Soviet Union over control of Europe. George Orwell alluded to this sudden shift in alliance in his contemporaneous dystopian novel about propaganda, 1984: “Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia.”

The Cold War served as a pretext to deploy propaganda as an official government function in peacetime. In his 1951 book, Peace Can Be Won, Paul Hoffman described how the “good versus evil” wartime binary was repurposed as “freedom and enemies of freedom” for postwar purposes:

We who have worked in the Marshall Plan have found a real and growing response to our information efforts. There is no telling what a sustained, full-scale crusade to propagandize the free world doctrine will do. The evidence is that it will give new hope and determination to those who want freedom and bring new defeats to the enemies of freedom. The time to start this new and intensified program of free world propaganda is now, if the free world is to be made invincible in its credo as in its cause.

In Coca-Colonization and the Cold War, Reinhold Wagnleitner elucidates what he called the “Marilyn Monroe Doctrine” in American postwar propaganda: “The ideological offensive of this war of words and images was almost always based upon a blend of political propaganda and cultural self-portrayal, of information and disinformation.”

The instances of hokey cultural self-portrayal are so abundant from the 1950s that they define the decade. A reference to “the 50s” still means a media stream of culture affirming content. It seemed harmless, but it was a successful top-down effort to create fashion around American hegemony in the world.

Also in the early 1950s, a box started to appear in homes beaming stories into living rooms for hours every night. Television provided a constant source of entertainment – aptly called programming – as a mimetic source of behavior.

Timmy and Lassie did not face Nazis, but they found in their rural dwelling plenty of chances to overcome crises and to emerge as heroes. Television’s repeated sequence of crisis, resolution, denouement, and human transformation became a pattern to be imitated.

Welding the hero’s journey onto human expectations was destructive of reality. It resulted in a trite public morality in which the good guys wore white hats, the bad guys wore black hats, and disputes were reduced to superficialities. Complicated public policy questions became hero-villain binaries.

In retrospect, the 1960s can be viewed as an era of controlled opposition: use wedge issues to keep people neck-deep in their own hero’s journeys fighting each other to no real effect, and they will not disturb the status quo. Seen through this lens, the period was less about conflict than synthesis, a politicized confrontation between the manufactured 50s version of normalcy and a manufactured 60s version of rebellion, each characterized more by style than anything more thoughtful: short hair versus long hair.

The 1970s ushered in the Archie versus Meathead era of American politics: two sides that were each, in significant part, reactions to the other. The names are from the #1 television show of the era, All in the Family. Every week, a statistically large percentage of Americans sat in front of the television box in their living room and absorbed shallow morality plays about the political binary and their place in it. The lesson was that disputes over wedge issues could remain unresolved while the contestants lived in comity under the same roof.

In 1978, Soviet dissident in exile Alexander Solzhenitsyn addressed the graduating class of Harvard University. He was expected to provide a stemwinder against Communism and at least an implied tribute to America. Instead, he criticized the West’s propaganda regime. He called it “fashion” and blamed the media:

There is yet another surprise for someone coming from the East, where the press is rigorously unified. One gradually discovers a common trend of preferences within the Western press as a whole. It is a fashion; there are generally accepted patterns of judgment; there may be common corporate interests, the sum effect being not competition but unification. Enormous freedom exists for the press, but not for the readership because newspaper[s] mostly develop stress and emphasis to those opinions which do not too openly contradict their own and the general trend.

Without any censorship, in the West fashionable trends of thought and ideas are carefully separated from those which are not fashionable; nothing is forbidden, but what is not fashionable will hardly ever find its way into periodicals or books or be heard in colleges. Legally your researchers are free, but they are conditioned by the fashion of the day….This gives birth to strong mass prejudices, to blindness, which is most dangerous in our dynamic era…. It will only be broken by the pitiless crowbar of events.

By the 1980s, propaganda had herded Americans into two distinct symbiotic political coalitions that served power: Left and Right. Both sides were cast by their respective media sources onto hero’s journeys seeking denouement through wedge issues.

In retrospect, Reaganism was a limited rise of the Right to serve the superficial purposes of Washington. Reaganism was a gift to elites in the name of markets. Reagan’s immigration “reforms” flooded America with cheap labor. His free trade policies permitted wholesale closing of domestic industries to reopen in low-wage nations without bothersome labor regulations.

Reaganism led to the appearance of prosperity. But it was prosperity without manufacturing that elevated financiers to innovators and heroes. The already rich got wildly rich using a company’s own assets to acquire the company (called, in perfect Orwellian newspeak, “leverage”) and then transferring manufacturing to cheap foreign labor.

Also, consumer goods – now being manufactured by slave laborers abroad and available in bins at newfangled box store retailers – became abundant, creating a false sense of wealth and security. Mostly, perhaps, Reaganism reversed the reforms of the Church Committee by outsourcing the CIA’s regime change function to civil society organizations like the National Endowment for Democracy.

The two-sides-lie gave Fox News awesome ratings. But both sides simply provided grist for the outrage mill that poured money into politics.

There were arguable strategic benefits to propaganda. It played an important role in defeating both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. By the 2000s, though, those enemies were gone, and the tools created to defeat them remained in the hands of state functionaries who would not let go.

Today, propaganda is a bug in the system. The bureaucrats in charge know only to make everyone oppose one another to achieve policy objectives through the vehicle of the binary.

Public policy could not even be formulated for a pandemic without casting every proscription and prohibition as a binary political choice, resulting in collective behavior that had less to do with rigorous causal connections than with tribal adherence.

The availability of information on the internet means the state cannot pull an Office of War Information op in places outside of America’s groupthink urban enclaves where status is highly staked to fashion. The only way to control non-status people is to control information itself with censorship, persecution, and entire bureaucracies dedicated to curbing “misinformation” – i.e., alternative views that do not agree with the propagandists.

As a result, domestic threats are manufactured, exaggerated, or imagined to justify Cold War-level surveillance and interdiction. Opposition leaders are prosecuted and, when possible, imprisoned. The West has reached Solzhenitsyn’s “pitiless crowbar of events,” and Bernay’s “invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country” is reacting desperately.

The dying remnants of the propaganda regime want war because it is the easiest way to restore the binary. If it can invoke its control over the conditioned masses one last time to cause a war, it can at least cast domestic opposition as treason – the ultimate power of any propaganda regime.

Only the truth will set the West free from its mediocrities who control information to maintain power. Diverse information sources are crucial. The way to avoid destruction is to question everything. Including three generations of lies that propaganda has woven into our collective experience.

Germany Is On The Brink Of National Suicide | ZeroHedge

Via VigilantFox.com,

Victor Davis Hanson opened with a warning… and it wasn’t subtle…

This week, Germany’s only major right-wing opposition party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), was officially labeled an “extremist” group by the country’s domestic intelligence agency, the BfV.

The designation sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

AfD immediately challenged it in court, prompting the agency to suspend enforcement while litigation proceeds.

But the damage, Hanson said, has already been done.

This move, he argued, wasn’t about public safety—it was about political control.

“Recently, the German government announced that it is going to label or maybe relabel the Alternative for Deutschland,” Hanson explained.

“The conservative party that has an antithetical agenda both to the German government of both liberal and conservative factions, but also to the EU in general.”

He said the classification ensures AfD will remain on the outside of political power, regardless of how many people support them.

“It will cement this aura that no government under their parliamentary democracy system will ask them to join to form a majority government,” Hanson said.

“So the process of ostracism and demonization of this party continues.”

And for what? The real issue, he said, is that AfD simply offers a different vision.

“The party is advocating an alternative for the way that Germany is going.”

So where is Germany going?

Hanson painted a bleak picture—of economic decline, energy failure, and political denial.

“If you look at what has become of Germany,” he said, “it has had two years of essentially no growth or negative growth.”

He noted the country finally reached its long-delayed NATO defense spending goal, pledging 2% of GDP—something it was supposed to do back in 2014.

But the milestone felt more like a bare-minimum box-check than a serious turning point.

“It just barely did it,” Hanson said.

Meanwhile, Germany has doubled down on green energy while dismantling its nuclear infrastructure, despite the country’s climate not being suited for solar reliance.

The results have been catastrophic.

German electricity costs are now roughly four times higher than those in the United States.

And that’s not just hitting households—it’s pushing away manufacturers and investors who can no longer justify doing business in the country.

“You can see what that’s going to do to German investment,” Hanson warned.

The problems aren’t limited to energy and economics.

Hanson pointed to a deeper crisis—one that strikes at the heart of Germany’s identity.

Open borders and mass migration, largely from the Middle East, has dramatically reshaped the population.

And according to Hanson, the consequences are both cultural and existential.

He estimated that 16 to 18 percent of Germany’s population wasn’t born in the country and has not assimilated.

“These are refugees—or I don’t think they’re refugees,” he said.

“They’re illegal immigrants from the volatile Middle East. Most of them are Muslim. Most of them do not have an intention of assimilating, intermarrying, and integrating fully in German society.”

The government’s refusal to address this, he said, has allowed a demographic transformation to unfold without public debate or accountability.

And that’s a far cry from the Germany that once held Europe together.

“For years, Germany was the powerhouse, the cohesive economic power that kept the EU together,” Hanson recalled. “It’s very tragic.”

Even the German military—a former pillar of NATO—is now little more than a shell.

“During the Cold War, it fielded one of the best NATO armies… well over 400,000 troops,” he said.

“It’s almost literally disarmed.”

In a functioning democracy, Hanson argued, this kind of failure would trigger a national reckoning.

There would be debate. Conflict. Reform. Politicians and citizens would argue over energy, borders, military policy, and economic growth. They’d hash it out—then find consensus.

Germany would close its borders. Demand full assimilation. Return to reliable energy. And reassert itself on the global stage.

That’s what you’d expect in a healthy system.

But instead of debating those solutions, the one party calling for them is silenced.

“They would do all of that,” Hanson said. “But instead, when one party is advocating much of what I just talked about, they demonize it because it’s out of the norm.”

Then came the most chilling line of all:

“And the norm, unfortunately in Germany today, is national suicide.”

For Hanson, this isn’t just a German issue.

The collapse of a once-great Western democracy—economically, militarily, and culturally—will have ripple effects far beyond Europe.

“Unfortunately, this is not going to end well for Germany,” he concluded.

“And it’s not going to end well for us. We need a powerful, friendly Germany and we wish it well.”

“But the reaction to needed reform—economic, political, social, cultural, military, diplomatic—is not to essentially ban a political party’s freedom of expression. That shows weakness and fear rather than confidence in the future.”

Think The Nazis Were Defeated In WWII? They Went On To Run NASA, The EU Commission, NATO And The United Nations So You Tell Me Who Won The War | Now The End Begins

The Allies may have defeated Hitler in WWII, but one thing that was not defeated was Nazi ideology which found its way into NASA, the EU Commission, NATO and the United Nations

How many times have you watched documentaries, movies and newsreels showing the great Allied victory over Nazi Germany and the Axis powers? Probably a lot, and you swell with pride watching the landing on the beaches on D-Day and all the other heroic things done and sacrificed to beat back the Nazis. Case closed, right? Wrong. After WWII, high-ranking and powerful Nazis went on to do things like creating NASA in America, heading up the EU Commission in Europe, being in charge of NATO, and running the United Nations in New York City.

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.” Habakkuk 1:5 (KJB)

WERNHER VON BRAUN: For years dismissed as a conspiracy theory, Operation Paperclip eventually came to light and proved all the conspiracy theorists correct once again. The moon landing, whether you think it really happened or think it never happened, was created by a team of 1,600 Nazi scientists from Nazi Germany who were led by Wernher von Braun, Kurt Debus and Arthur Rudolph. All 3 of these men did work in Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps on thousands of victims who were the human fodder for their fiendish experiments. Not only did they never pay for their crimes, they were brought to America where they lived a nice, cushy lifestyle. Von Braun ran the V-2 assembly plant, called the Mittelwerk, that was in central Germany near Nordhausen, and it utilized enslaved labor from the attached Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp. Yet amazingly, NASA built a statue in his honor that remains to this day. Oy vey.

WALTER HALLSTEIN: He was man who was the first president of the European Commission, the unelected executive body of Europe. Hallstein held this post between 1958 and 1967 and is described on the Brussels EU website as a “visionary leader” and a “diplomatic force” who propelled European integration. However, no mention whatsoever is given by the Brussels EU to the fact that before and during World War Two Hallstein was a member of official Nazi organizations. The Association of National Socialist German lawyers was founded in 1933, immediately after the Nazis had seized power. In 1936 it was converted into the notorious Nazi Association of Law Protectors. Membership of this second organization was restricted to those individuals showing uncompromising support for, and participation in, the implementation of Nazi ideology. In a memorandum sent by Hallstein to the representative of the Nazi government at the university of Rostock in Germany in 1935, Hallstein stated he was a member of both these organizations.

ADOLF HEUSINGER: Heusinger played a key role in planning the Nazi occupation of Austria and, at the outbreak of World War II, in the Nazi invasion of Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, and the Netherlands. During the course of the war, Heusinger was appointed Brigadier General and later Major General. Heusinger was appointed Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, serving from 1961 to 1964 in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, he was the highest-ranking military officer in NATO, overseeing strategic military planning during a tense period of the Cold War.

KURT WALDHEIM: He was drafted into the German Wehrmacht in 1941. He served as an intelligence officer in the Balkans, primarily in Yugoslavia and Greece, as part of Army Group E. His unit was involved in brutal anti-partisan operations, including deportations of Jews and reprisals against civilians. None of that stopped Waldheim from becoming the Secretary General of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Nazi Party was taken down from power at the end of WWII, Adolf Hitler died ‘came to his end with none to help him’ as Daniel 11:45 alludes to, and the Allies won the battle. Yay! But the war started by the Nazis continues to be waged through the organizations the Nazis went on to create. These men were not heros, they were unrepentant Nazis who found fame and fortune doing for themselves what they had done for Hitler. There is no better example of covert Nazism in the 21st-century than the United Nations, sitting like a coiled serpent and waiting to strike again.

Germany’s Globalist Extremist Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock Set To Be Next UN President | The Gateway Pundit.

Germany’s outgoing left-globalist extremist Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock (Green Party), has been nominated by the country’s foreign office to assume the role of President of the United Nations General Assembly, a position Germany was set to hold next.

During her time in office, Baerbock, co-leader of the increasingly unpopular Green Party, has overseen a decline in Germany’s influence on the global stage, with consequences that may take decades to undo.

But since she’s a loyal servant to the globalist agenda, Baerbock, much like the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte—who was rejected by Dutch voters before taking on the role of NATO Secretary General— has been elevated to a prominent position within a globalist-led international organization.

She is set to be elected as the President of the United Nations General Assembly in early June, with her one-year term beginning in September, according to a report in the German newspaper Der Spiegel. Her election is widely regarded as a formality, following internal agreements within the United Nations.

As Der Spiegel notes, the President of the United Nations General Assembly has far less external impact than that of the U.N. Secretary-General, a role currently occupied by Portugal’s former socialist Prime Minister António Guterres.

The president’s primary responsibility is to represent all UN member countries and deliver one of the opening speeches at the annual UN General Assembly, where the heads of state and government from the 193 member nations convene to address global issues.

It is noteworthy that Baerbock’s co-leader in the Green Party, Robert Habeck, who also serves as Vice Chancellor, has filed 730 so-called ‘hate crime’ complaints with the police—primarily against individuals who have insulted him online. In one instance, a pensioner was fined €7,800 for calling him an idiot.

Together, Habeck and Baerbock have been central to Germany’s increasingly authoritarian approach to curbing free speech.

Moreover, the two are chiefly responsible for Germany’s precipitous economic decline, having overseen the closure of the last three nuclear power plants and the cessation of affordable Russian gas imports. These actions have led to soaring energy prices, leaving German companies struggling to remain competitive in the global market.

Criticism of Baerbock’s candidacy has unsurprisingly emerged from Russia. Moscow, upon catching wind of the news, has voiced opposition to Baerbock’s appointment to the UN presidency.

“It would be strange to see the granddaughter of a Nazi proudly talking about her grandfather’s ‘heroic deeds’ occupying the presidency of the General Assembly 80 years after victory [in World War II],” remarked Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, as reported by the state news agency TASS.

Barebock’s Green Party now commands a mere 12% of the nationwide vote in Germany, behind the CDU, AfD, and outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s SPD.

Meanwhile, support for Germany’s only conservative party, the Alternative for Deutschland (AfD), has surged to 23%, narrowing the gap with the CDU to just 4 percentage points.

The ‘Trump Tornado’ Hits Europe as Right-wing Parties Surge and Elites Struggle to Stop Them | CBN

It was clear from Vice President JD Vance’s speech to NATO allies in Munich last week that at least politically, Western Europe and the United States under Donald Trump are moving away from each other.

Vance took European leaders to task over rampant state-supported censorship in many European nations.

“The threat that I worry the most about vis-a-vis Europe is not Russia, it’s not China…what I worry about is the threat from within; the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values shared with the United States of America,” the Vice President said.

And while Vance simply defended free speech, some of the liberal European elites in his audience saw it as giving aid and comfort to their political enemies on the European Right.

Those parties are becoming a major force. In Germany on Sunday, the right-wing party, AfD, Alternative for Germany is expected to finish second in national elections. Their rise has been fueled by an economic crisis and disastrous open borders policy which led to last week’s Munich car attack by a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, killing a mother and her 2-year-old daughter while injuring at least 37.

Regardless of how well AfD does in the vote count, Germany’s other parties have vowed to keep it out of any coalition government.

This comes after Romania annulled its presidential election when a right-wing candidate won the vote.

Vance addressed the issue of European elites trying to keep right-wing parties out of power.

“We shouldn’t be afraid of our people, even when they express views that disagree with their leadership,” Vance said. “If you are running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you. Nor, for that matter, is there anything that you can do for the American people that elected me and elected President Trump.”

A seismic political shift was already under way in many West European nations. Now, with the reelection of Donald Trump, the movement has become even more energized.

What one European leader calls ‘The Trump Tornado’ has struck Europe.

“The elites, they’ve been shaken up by the election of Trump. They really feel that, you know, they’re next,” says Frank Furedi, executive director of the think tank MCC Brussels. “A lot of people are demanding that they be heard, they’re looking for a voice. There is a growing sense that the old mainstream parties have lost the trust and the connection with the public.”

Many British and European citizens feel they have become poorer and less free. Eurozone growth has stagnated under climate change regulations, and the average E.U. nation would now qualify as one of the poorest states in the U.S

Germany, once among the world’s strongest economies, is now ‘de-industrializing‘ to meet radical green energy goals; what the Wall Street Journal has called the “World’s Dumbest Energy Policy.”

German economist and Journalist Sabine Beppler-Spahl says Germans see their falling standard of living and want a leader who will do something about it.

Beppler-Spahl told us, “There is a very strong mood within a large sector of German population for very fundamental changes, for real change. And who say ‘too many mistakes have been made. We see what is happening to the country. This is serious.'”

If Trump’s term is successful and Europe falls even farther behind the U.S. economically, it’s likely to put even more pressure on European elites as they try to keep right-wing parties out of power.
