For months now, ICE officers and law enforcement have been under attack in America. And, in a recent interview, Border Czar Tom Homan revealed that the situation has become even more dire. According to Homan, threats against ICE officers are up 1200%.
Homan appeared on CNN for a Sunday morning “State of the Union” interview. As soon as the segment began, the host questioned Homan about the President’s recent decision to send ICE officers into Minneapolis.
Throughout the interview, Homan defended ICE and its operations in Minnesota against attacks and mischaracterizations. Eventually, toward the end of his segment, the Border Czar revealed the shocking new figure, highlighting just how much danger federal law enforcement is in.
“Threats on ICE officers are up 1200%,” Homan said, “They‘re being doxxed on social media. They‘re getting death threats every day. They’ve been attacked. They‘ve been shot at. And you know, these officers out there are looking for the worst of the worst. So they‘re protecting themselves.”
Homan did concede that some officers may have gone too far, clarifying that those who do do “something inappropriate” will be “held accountable.” He then added, however, “But we‘ve got to remember, I mean, they‘re under attack. And we‘re at a place in this country where all of a sudden the ones who enforce law, they’re bad guys, and the ones who broke the laws are victims. I‘m going to trust the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol who have been trained very well to do the right thing.”

The Border Czar’s comments come after months of anti-ICE protests, threats, and attacks. Journalists have painted ICE officers as dangerous masked goons, activists have physically attacked them, and some lawmakers have even worked to impede them or put them in harm’s way. In fact, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani recently posted a video to X telling migrants how to evade ICE.
Now more than ever, our law enforcement officers are in danger. As threats increase, let’s pray for the protection of every ICE officer!

When people are literally fighting against the government, what else are we supposed to call it? Earlier today, I wrote an article about the death spiral that New York City has now entered. But of course Chicago has been in a death spiral for a long time. As conditions in the Windy City have deteriorated, there has been a mass exodus of wealthy taxpayers and law-abiding citizens. Meanwhile, mass immigration has fueled the explosive growth of Chicago gangs. Recently, FBI Director Kash Patel admitted that there are now “110,000 gang members” living in Chicago. They outnumber the police by about a 10 to 1 margin, and there are many neighborhoods that are simply not safe for anyone to go into at night.
The largest gang in the city of Chicago is known as the Latin Kings. It has more than 25,000 members, and the leaders of the gang have just issued a “shoot on sight” order for any federal agents that are involved in immigration enforcement operations in the city…
Customs and Border Protection officials said Latin Kings street gang leaders have issued a “shoot on sight” order targeting agents involved in immigration operations in Chicago, NewsNation has learned.
“Officer/agents are reminded to maintain heightened situational awareness and exercise extreme caution when conducting enforcement activities,” the agency’s internal warning said.
Needless to say, thousands of the members of the Latin Kings gang came into this country illegally.
And they are willing to kill to keep from being deported.
When asked about the threat from the Latin Kings, a DHS spokesperson would not comment on them specifically.
A DHS spokesperson wouldn’t comment on the reported Latin Kings threat but added “our law enforcement is now facing an 8,000% increase in death threats against them while they risk their lives every single day to remove the worst of the worst.”
“Nearly everyday we have seen violence, assaults, or smears against our officers in Chicago, including yesterday when agents vehicles were rammed multiple times and shots fired at them.”
Chaos erupted in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood late Saturday morning as federal immigration agents detained a person and reportedly used a flash bang as an angry crowd gathered, according to an alderman and video of the incident posted on social media.
The reason why federal agents used a flash bang grenade is because a male driving a black Jeep fired shots at them…
The Department of Homeland Security told Fox News in a statement that U.S. Border Patrol was conducting “immigration enforcement operations” near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue when an unknown male driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled the scene.
DHS also claimed a number of “agitators” threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol vehicles.
The good news is that they found the shooter.
He is from Mexico, and he is in this country illegally…
A suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting Saturday targeting Border Patrol agents in Chicago, the Department of Homeland Security said on X Monday.
DHS said the suspect is from Mexico, and is in the U.S. illegally.
Officials said the suspect has previously been convicted for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle, felony possession of a weapon and illegal entry.
We see this same pattern so many times.
Violent criminals that are in this country illegally are arrested and convicted, but then they are put right back into the streets.
Hopefully this violent criminal will finally be deported for good.

DHS said after the scene was cleared, a car tried to ram their convoy at Cermak and California, but was stopped by a controlled tire deflation device. Then, as the group was trying to continue toward an FBI facility, two drivers tried to “impede operations.” According to DHS, agents warned the drivers to stop, but one driver attempted to ram the convoy and was arrested.
When Border Patrol left the FBI facility, DHS claims they found protesters lying on the ground near 26th Street and Pulaski. DHS says protesters refused to comply and began throwing things. Federal agents cleared the area and continued to a Sam’s Club parking lot where DHS claims they were stalked and a car rammed a Border Patrol car.
Cellphone video showed the moment Saturday morning Rafael Veraza says he and his family were pepper sprayed by Border Patrol agents in the parking lot of a Sam’s Club in Cicero, just over the city border from Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.
“He started spraying from the front of the car towards the back. Basically I got sprayed all over my face,” Veraza said.
He says the effect was immediate.
“I’m asthmatic. I’ve been with asthma since I was a little kid,” Veraza said. “So the moment that it hit me, I couldn’t breathe.”
The mainstream media is not giving what is going on in Chicago enough attention.
Nearly every day there are more violent confrontations.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin is blaming JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson for the “environment of lawlessness” that now exists…
“JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson have fueled an environment of lawlessness and assault on federal law enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “In less than three hours in Chicago, Border Patrol faced gunshots, violent mobs at every stop, bricks and other objects thrown at them, and four vehicle rammings.”
“The violence in Chicago against law enforcement is unprecedented—These attacks are the consequence of vitriolic smears from sanctuary politicians and the media. Just last week, Chicago and national media falsely accused law enforcement of raiding a daycare center. Now, they are silent when our agents come under gunfire.”
This crisis isn’t going to go away.
The Trump administration is going to continue to conduct deportation operations, and the opposition to those deportation operations is only going to get even more violent.
Civil unrest is one of the key elements of “the Perfect Storm” that we are now experiencing.
It appears to be inevitable that a lot of people will get hurt or killed during this period of violent civil unrest.
My advice would be to avoid the chaos if you possibly can, because what we have witnessed so far is just the beginning.

So far, the Trump administration has removed roughly 2 million illegals from the country. 600,000 have been deported while around 1.4 million have self-deported.
The Biden administration had created an app which helped illegal immigrants navigate and find their way into the US and the benefits system. President Trump had the app reconfigured so it is now a self-deportation app. Illegals who self-deport through the app receive a free plane ticket and $1,000 in cash and may be eligible to reapply for legal entry in the future. Of course, liberals hate it.
Liberals are just short of saying, “You know who else had a self-deportation app that gave people free money and plane tickets? Hitler!”
Angry videos flood the news and social media, crying families, distraught spouses, and scenes of fathers or husbands being arrested by ICE. Cars are smashed, and illegal immigrants are wrestled to the ground as they resist arrest or attack agents. These stories are inevitably followed by reports lamenting how deportations “tear families apart,” a phrase repeated ad nauseam.
What these reports ignore is that these individuals are in the country illegally, working illegally, or have violated the terms of their residency. Once those terms are broken, their presence becomes illegal, and to restore the situation to one of legality, they must be arrested and deported.
Another favorite line from the liberal left is, “It’s not that ICE is deporting people, it’s the way they’re doing it that I object to.” This hollow statement, endlessly echoed in the media and by Democrats, is a lie. No matter how an illegal is arrested, they are triggered.
They express outrage when an illegal immigrant is arrested in front of his family, on the way to work, on the way to school, after his daughter’s birthday, or while a relative is in the hospital. The implication is that there should be laws or conventions protecting criminals from arrest during certain activities. But in reality, if someone commits a crime, whether it’s murder or violating immigration law, law enforcement is authorized to arrest them regardless of whether they’re mowing the lawn or reading to cancer patients in a hospital.
The media and social media frequently frame immigration enforcement as racially motivated, asking, “If it’s not about race, why don’t we see white people being deported?” There are two simple answers to this question.
First, of the estimated 20 million illegal immigrants in the United States, only about 500,000 were Europeans or Australians as of 2023. The number is likely considerably lower today, as Europeans have become more cautious about violating U.S. immigration laws. Most of these cases involve visa overstays, many of them inadvertent, and they are usually discovered at the airport when the individual attempts to return to Europe at the end of their visit. Statistically, Europeans and Australians make up only about 2.5 percent of the illegal immigrant population.
Second, not every deportation is filmed or shared online. The videos that circulate typically come from outraged liberals who oppose ICE enforcement, and these same people are not outraged when white people are deported. As a result, those cases are rarely recorded or posted on social media.
The media often misrepresents arrests by claiming that a person was deported for whatever activity they happened to be doing at the time, such as going to work, taking a child to school, speeding, having a burned-out taillight, or committing a minor offense like shoplifting, rather than for their actual immigration violations. The true violation is being in the country illegally.
In many cases, the individual is discovered during a traffic stop or another minor incident, but how they are found is irrelevant. Once authorities determine that a person is in the country illegally, the law clearly states that they should be arrested and deported.
Other social media users and media outlets often attack deportations by expressing outrage over videos showing ICE agents celebrating the number of arrests they made in a day. But there is no crime in taking pride in one’s work or feeling job satisfaction. The criticism in these videos seems to suggest that deportations are acceptable only if the officers carrying them out are miserable while doing their jobs.
Liberals often express outrage over “tearing families apart,” “kids in cages,” and false claims of “deporting citizens.” If an entire family is in the country illegally and taken into custody, adults and children are often held in separate detention facilities for the same reason children are not placed in adult prisons, protection and safety of minors. Would liberals prefer that children be kept in adult prisons instead?
In other cases, one or both parents are illegal while the children are not. In such situations, the illegal parent is arrested, but the legal or citizen child is not. Surely, liberals would not prefer that authorities arrest the entire family, including the citizen children, rather than only the members who are here illegally.
In several high-profile cases, a parent was arrested while the child, a U.S. citizen, was placed under temporary care. When authorities contacted the other parent to retrieve the child, that parent refused because he or she was also in the country illegally. When an illegal parent is deported, they are given the option of taking their children with them, but when they choose to do so, liberals become outraged again, accusing the government of deporting citizens. Would they be happier if U.S. authorities kept the children and deported only the parents?
At the end of the day, liberals are not truly angry about “the way deportations are done.” Their real issue is that they oppose deportations altogether. If they genuinely believed the current system was authoritarian or inhumane, they should be encouraging illegal immigrants to self-deport.
Instead of trying to convince people that only Hitler or Trump ever enforced immigration laws, the media should be running campaigns that promote voluntary compliance with U.S. immigration rules, just as they did with mask and vaccine compliance.
Nobody can deny that there is chaos in the streets of America, and both sides just continue to escalate matters. Incidents of civil conflict are literally occurring on a nightly basis, and in some cities such as Portland violent leftists are allowed to do pretty much whatever they want for months on end. Meanwhile, many on the left are now openly talking about secession. Yes, they are actually talking about what it would take for blue states to leave the United States. For example, the following was just published by an independent news publication in California…
To stay in the U.S. is to choose to fight for a marriage the other party has abandoned. It is a choice to live in misery under the tyranny of a neglectful and abusive spouse. California itself could be destroyed forever by that tyranny.
Accepting the fact that America has abandoned us, that we have been kicked out of the union, that we could lose everything if we seek to stay in the Union, is emotionally difficult. And perilous, given the violence of the U.S. regime. But moving on from this bad marriage also offers us hope for a new beginning we’ll never find under fascism.
Outside the U.S., California has a better chance of survival. If we, California’s people, seize this moment to build our own new republic, we might soon live again in freedom.
This is really happening.

In fact, Mother Jones recently published an article that stated that “soft secession” could lay the groundwork for “a new confederacy”…
With Trump provocatively sending troops into blue cities, and using recision and the shutdown to claw back congressionally appropriated funds from blue states, it’s time to turn the tables on him. Soft secession, powered by the presidential ambitions of multiple blue-state governors, could, should it come to that, be the proving ground of a new confederacy. Hopefully the threat of CalExit or a new Union will be enough. But that extreme measures might be necessary to ensure that American democracy shall not perish from the Earth is becoming more self-evident with every passing day.
Many on the right have no idea that this sort of talk is going on because they don’t read anything that the left publishes.
But they really are quite serious about this.
The violence that is happening in our streets has brought the mood on the left to a boiling point.
On Tuesday, there was another very alarming clash in Chicago…
Federal agents deployed tear gas on Chicago residents and more than a dozen police officers on Tuesday, the latest clash in the nation’s third-largest city as the Trump administration has carried out its immigration crackdown.
The clash began on Tuesday morning when federal agents were seen chasing a car through a working-class, heavily Latino neighborhood on the city’s far South Side, witnesses said. An S.U.V. driven by the federal agents collided with the car they were pursuing, the Chicago Police Department said, sending that car into another vehicle that was parked nearby.
After the crash, dozens of additional immigration agents in masks arrived and residents emerged from their houses, gathering on streets and sidewalks, throwing objects at agents and shouting, “ICE go home!”
There have been so many incidents like this in the Windy City lately.
Federal officials are determined to enforce the law and restore order, and leftists are determined to frustrate everything that the feds are trying to do.
In fact, in some parts of Chicago there are now highly organized groups that sound the alarm whenever ICE agents are spotted…
In the last several weeks, Chicagoans have formed volunteer groups to monitor their neighborhoods for federal immigration agents, posting alerts on Facebook and in Signal group chats when agents are seen.
If agents are spotted on the street, motorists lean on their horns as a warning and sometimes give chase. Around the city last weekend, pairs of volunteers were seen with orange whistles around their necks, blowing the whistles at the first sight of immigration agents.
I certainly would not want to live in Chicago at this stage.
Even if you are completely innocent, you can unintentionally find yourself right in the middle of the craziness that is going on…

“He’s a U.S. citizen! He’s American!” a woman yells. “He’s my brother-in-law!”
Store location was forced to close “because of everything with ICE”—manager told the rest of the customers.
“This is crazy, he said they’re closed for some ICE stuff going on,” another woman explains. “I’m just trying to get some dishwasher liquid.”
In southern California, Los Angeles County has officially declared a state of emergency due to the federal immigration raids that have been happening there…
Los Angeles County officials voted on Tuesday to declare a state of emergency over ongoing federal immigration raids.
The proclamation gives the county the power to assist residents they say have been impacted financially by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) action.
The declaration was introduced by County Supervisors Lindsey P. Horvath and Janice Hahn and passed by a 4-1 vote, with Supervisor Kathryn Barger opposing.

There has been so much violence in southern California this year, but the violence in Portland has been even worse.
The ICE facility in Portland was under siege for more than 100 consecutive nights, but the local police just allowed the radical leftists to do pretty much whatever they wanted to do…
For more than 100 nights in a row, Antifa thugs have taken over the streets in front of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility (ICE), hooting, hollering and waving any flag that wasn’t Old Glory.
As dusk descended on Tuesday, it was clear they — not the hapless handful of police on hand — were in control. I later learned officers were told by their higher-ups not to engage the black-clad, masked radicals.
If you have never seen Antifa at night, in their natural menacing environment, I’d describe it as a mental asylum meeting in a Batman movie. It’s almost hard to imagine these characters are real.
If blue states try to secede, Oregon would probably be one of the first.
Of course the conservative areas of eastern Oregon would not be too pleased about that at all.
On the east coast, the situation in Boston just continues to deteriorate.
Open air drug markets operate freely in some of the nicest areas of the city, and the other night “a violent mob of over 100 people” viciously attacked law enforcement officers…
The president of Boston’s Police Patrolmen’s Association has responded after a violent mob of over 100 people unleashed chaos in Boston’s streets, torching a police cruiser and pelting officers with fireworks, cones, and poles in what witnesses called a “riot-like” assault on law enforcement.
The wild attack, which unfolded in the early hours of October 5, was described as a deliberate and “hell-bent” targeting of police, according to Larry Calderone, president of the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association, in an interview with Fox News.
“They came with a plan to attack officers, and they executed it,” Calderone said, slamming the mob’s actions as “absolutely unacceptable.”
Most people haven’t even heard about what just took place in Boston because the mainstream media is giving it very little attention.
But this is the reality of what is happening in our major cities.
And now the next round of “No Kings” protests is coming on Saturday…
Indivisible held a “Hands Off” march in April that drew 3 million people nationwide holding 750 events. The first “No Kings” day this year, in June, brought around 5 million people and 2,200 events. On Saturday, Levin’s expectation is that the numbers will jump again, with more than 2,000 rallies planned.
“We are looking at the largest protest in modern American history on Oct. 18,” he declared.
Significant turnout is expected at major rallies in Washington, D.C., outside the Capitol; New York City; Chicago; and Portland, Oregon.
This weekend, millions of angry people will pour into the streets to protest President Trump and his policies.
I think that as this weekend approached, the Democrats realized that if they kept the government shutdown going that would help make the crowds even bigger.
I have never seen the left as angry as it is right now, and in the months ahead that anger is going to explode in wild and unpredictable ways.
Of course this is just one element of “the perfect storm” that we are now facing.
We were warned for a long time that civil conflict was coming, and now it is here.
Sadly, what we have experienced so far is just the tip of the iceberg.
Two million illegal immigrants have left the country since President Donald Trump took office, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The figure includes about 1.6 million illegal immigrants who voluntarily self-deported and more than 400,000 who were deported, according to a news release.
The Department of Homeland Security is on track to total 600,000 deportations during Trump’s first year back in office, the release said.
“The numbers don’t lie: 2 million illegal aliens have been removed or self-deported in just 250 days — proving that President Trump’s policies and Secretary Noem’s leadership are working and making American communities safe,” Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.
“Ramped-up immigration enforcement targeting the worst of the worst is removing more and more criminal illegal aliens off our streets every day and is sending a clear message to anyone else in this country illegally: Self-deport or we will arrest and deport you,” she said.
The release noted that for four months in a row, United States Customs and Border Protection “has released zero illegal aliens into the country.”
The release cited a United Nations report saying there had been a 97 percent reduction in illegal immigrants heading to the U.S. from Central America, with 49 percent of illegal immigrants who gave up hope of slipping across the border citing Trump’s policies as the reason for doing so.
The job has not been easy, as illustrated Monday when two illegal immigrants tried to break free after one tried to choke a female Border Patrol agent, according to the New York Post.
Juan Carmen Padron Mendez, 29, and Juan Carlos Padron Barron, 23, had been detained and were on their way to custody when Mendez allegedly put his hands around the female agent’s neck as she was stopped at a red light.
Mendez and Barron were soon arrested and now face charges of assault, resisting arrest, and impeding a federal officer.
“The Southern District of Texas has zero tolerance for those who assault law enforcement,” U.S. Attorney Nicholas Ganjei said.
“Let it be known: if you lay a hand on an officer, deputy or federal agent, SDTX will do whatever it can to put you in federal prison for as long as the law will allow,” Ganjei said. “You’ve been warned.”
Political headwinds also make the job of deporting illegal immigrants more difficult.
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security continued to press California, Illinois, and New York to detain criminal illegal immigrants, according to a separate news release.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons had asked the states to honor ICE detainers on criminal illegal immigrants, only to have Illinois and New York reject the notion while California could not be bothered to reply.
Illinois refused to even receive a follow-up letter saying ICE will “pursue all appropriate measures to end their inadvisable and irresponsible obstruction of the apprehension and removal of criminal illegal aliens,” the release said.
“These dangerous sanctuary policies, often combined with cashless bail for serious crimes, allow criminal illegal aliens to be released back into American communities — threatening the American people’s lives and wellbeing,” McLaughlin said.
“ICE detainers ask for something very simple: To notify ICE when criminal illegal aliens are released from jail or prison, to ensure that they go into ICE custody before they are released back onto our streets. These sanctuary state politicians should do the right thing and side with law-abiding Americans over criminal illegal aliens,” she added.
Over 300,000 migrant children vanished under Biden-era policies that relied on NGOs tied to trafficking networks.
It was all Representative Clay Higgins (R-La) could do to contain his anger during the July 16 hearing testimony describing how federal officials worked with 15 UN agencies and an estimated 230 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) during the Biden administration in spending $6 billion in federal grants to aid illegal immigrants.
Higgins’s anger was focused especially on one heart-breaking fact — Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials have lost track of an estimated 300,000 Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMCs) they turned over, with the help of the NGOs, to largely unvetted sponsors, many of whom experts say were linked to Mexican drug cartel sex and forced labour trafficking.
“It was a pipeline, man, we set up a pipeline of tender-age children into sex trafficking and slave labour,” Higgins finally exclaimed, fists clutched near his chest.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly vowed to find all of these children with the same controversial raids of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in which agents detain illegal immigrants with criminal records for deportation and often also find lost UMCs.
More will be found, and the persons responsible for their abuse will be prosecuted, according to Higgins, who told the hearing that 35,000 “tender-age kids” have been rescued so far under Trump.
“Be advised that we are building our criminal case files. We’re interviewing these 35,000 kids, and we’re finding out exactly what the hell happened, how they ended up in the nightmare where they were,” Higgins warned. “And we’re rescuing more — and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. We’re going to identify these children, locate these children, rescu[e] these children… And many of these NGO employees are going to find themselves wearing orange.”
How So Many Migrant Children Disappeared
The key factor in HHS losing so many UMCs is federal officials relied too heavily on well-funded NGOs to provide supposedly screened sponsors to accept responsibility for the children while their cases went through the immigration system, according to Ali Hooper, president of Guiding Understanding, Awareness, Research and Defence Against Trafficking (GUARD), a non-profit investigative research group.
“In interviews with cartel members incarcerated for human trafficking, they explained how weak sponsor verification incentivised trafficking by enabling cartels to control children’s placement by supplying children with exact sponsor information, allowing control over their destination,” Hooper told the committee.
“Cartels infiltrated NGOs along smuggling routes to the southwest border, using them to facilitate in the smuggling or trafficking of children. By providing children with false documents and pairing them with adults to pose as family units, they placed the children in grave danger,” Hooper continued. “According to an internal audit conducted by [HHS], approximately 70% of sponsor applications examined were found to be fraudulent, making child traceability and safety assurances nearly impossible.”
Further worsening the situation, Hooper noted, was the failure of HHS officials to follow-up on information provided by more than 65,000 calls to a telephone hotline established specifically to aid in tracking UMCs from August 2023 to January 2025.
“For example, one call was received of a child reporting ‘a lot of grown men were coming into his bedroom and touching him.’ This call was ignored by the previous administration and only acted upon after this current administration took over, leading to a welfare check, the child being rescued, and the sponsor being arrested,” Hooper said.
Abuses Suffered by Migrant Children
As an example of the abuses GUARD has documented, Hooper cited the organisation known as Endeavours, a San Antonio, Texas-based NGO, including:
“Staff were hired without completed fingerprinting or thorough background checks.”
“Male staff were found inside female dorms.”
“A contractor led 150 teenage girls, minors in sexually explicit dance routines, teaching them how to ‘twerk.’ He did it twice — once at the facility’s ribbon-cutting, and again months later — before an on-site compliance officer demanded intervention.”
“Children collapsed after being subjected to massive vaccination protocols with no parental consent and no clear medical follow-up.”
“Two compliance officers discovered a female housed alone in a dorm who was over 18 years of age. Endeavours was shielding her from ICE. In other cases, UACs on the verge of turning 18 were released early to avoid ICE transfer.”
“An Endeavors employee that raised concerns about too many children being sent [to] a single address was terminated.”
“A former ICE employee with a background in case management, serving as a contracted compliance team lead was actively stonewalled from reviewing child placements.”
Hooper emphasised, however, that the problems her organisation described at Endeavours were not unique to that NGO.
“To reiterate, it wasn’t just Endeavours. Across the country, NGOs became waystations — processing points in a steady flow of children. Federal contracts incentivised output over outcomes, prioritising speed over safety. And the cartels took full advantage. They studied every gap and exploited them, sending children into a system they knew would fast-track them to cartel-controlled sponsors — without meaningful background checks, with addresses verified through postal databases, and IDs often accepted via WhatsApp or text with no facial match to the sender,” Hooper explained.
“This is how 70% of sponsor data became falsified or fraudulent. Post placement welfare checks were typically limited to two phone calls made to the sponsor’s home; if no one answered, the case was no longer followed up on. This broken process contributed to the staggering over 300,000 children who went unaccounted for,” she said.
Stonewalling from Democrats on Migrant Children
At the outset of the hearing, Democrats offered motions directing the committee to issue subpoenas to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, FBI Director Kash Patel, White House border czar Tom Homan, and multiple other present and former federal officials were all defeated on party line votes.
When The Washington Stand asked spokesmen for the 13 House Democrats serving on the Homeland Security panel what each was specifically doing to find and rescue the 300,000 missing children, only one responded — Representative Delia Ramirez of Illinois.
“Congresswoman Ramirez — during her committee hearing and legislation — has been clear about protecting asylum seekers, especially children. She spoke against the [Trump] administration’s executive order to end the lawful access to seek asylum at the border, introduced legislation to protect the constitutional right to birthright citizenship, and introduced legislation to protect schools from ICE raids,” insisted Jowen Ortiz Clintron, communications director for Ramirez.
“But in the reunification front, Ramirez led Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) and Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), and Edward Markey (D-Mass) in introducing the bicameral Family Reunification Task Force Act. The legislation would authorise the Family Reunification Task Force to continue its work to reunite the thousands of families torn apart by Trump’s Zero Tolerance policy that inhumanely separated children from their parents and prevent any further separation,” he said.
Among the Democrats not responding were Ranking Member Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, Eric Swalwell of California, Dan Goldman of New York, and LaMonica McIver of New Jersey. McIver was recently charged with three counts of impeding and interfering with federal officers by the Department of Justice for her involvement in physical assaults on US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at a New Jersey detention centre.
