President Donald J. Trump delivered a nearly two-hour State of the Union address Tuesday night, outlining a historic national revival just one year into his second term.

While the fake news spent the last year rooting for a recession, President Trump stood before a Joint Session of Congress and declared a reality they can’t ignore: “a new Golden Age of America.”

Below is the full transcript of his remarks, as transcribed by The New York Times:

Well, thank you very much, everybody. It’s really an honor. Speaker Johnson. Vice President Vance. First lady of the United States. Second lady of the United States.

Members of Congress and my fellow Americans, our nation is back, bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before.

Less than five months from now, our country will celebrate an epic milestone of American history: the 250th anniversary of our glorious American independence. This July 4, we will mark two-and-a-half centuries of liberty and triumph, progress and freedom in the most incredible and exceptional nation ever to exist on the face of the Earth.

And you’ve seen nothing yet. We are going to do better and better and better. This is the golden age of America.

When I last spoke in this chamber 12 months ago, I had just inherited a nation in crisis with a stagnant economy, inflation at record levels, a wide open border, horrendous recruitment for military and police, rampant crime at home, and wars and chaos all over the world. But tonight, after just one year, I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a transformation like no one has ever seen before and a turnaround for the ages. It is indeed a turnaround for the ages.

And we will never go back to where we were just a very short time ago. We are not going back. Today, our border is secure.

Thank you. Today, our border is secure, our spirit is restored, inflation is plummeting, incomes are rising fast. The roaring economy is roaring like never before, and our enemies are scared, our military and police are stacked, and America is respected again, perhaps, like never before.

After four years, in which millions and millions of illegal aliens poured across our borders totally unvetted and unchecked, we now have the strongest and most secure border in American history by far. In the past nine months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States.

But we will always allow people to come in legally. People that will love our country and will work hard to maintain our country.

The flow of deadly fentanyl across our border is down by a record 56 percent, in one year.

And last year, the murder rate saw its single largest decline in recorded history. This is the biggest decline, think of it, in recorded history. The lowest number in over 125 years — year 1900. In fact, substantially before my wonderful father — I had a wonderful father, Fred — before he was born, substantially before he was born. That’s a long time ago. He wouldn’t like me to say that, but that’s a long time ago.

The Biden administration and its allies in Congress gave us the worst inflation in the history of our country. But in 12 months, my administration has driven core inflation down to the lowest level in more than five years. And in the last three months of 2025, it was down to 1.7 percent.

Gasoline, which reached a peak of over $6 a gallon in some states under my predecessor — it was quite honestly a disaster — is now below $2.30 a gallon in most states. And in some places, $1.99 a gallon. And when I visited the great state of Iowa just a few weeks ago, I even saw $1.85 a gallon for gasoline.

Mortgage rates are the lowest in four years and falling fast, and the annual cost of a typical new mortgage is down almost $5,000 just since I took office. One year.

And low interest rates will solve the Biden-created housing problem while at the same time protecting the values of those people who already own a house that really feel rich for the first time in their lives. We want to protect those values; we want to keep those values up. We are going to do both. And we are going to keep it that way.

The stock market is at 53 — all-time record highs since the election. Think of that. One year. Boosting pensions, 401(k)s and retirement accounts with millions and millions of Americans. They’re all gaining. Everybody’s up, way up. In four long years, the last administration got less than $1 trillion in new investment in the United States. And when I say less, substantially less.

In 12 months, I secured commitments for more than $18 trillion, pouring in from all over the globe.

Think of it. Much less than $1 trillion for four years versus much more than $18 trillion for one year. What a difference a president makes.

A short time ago, we were a dead country. Now we are the hottest country anywhere in the world. The hottest.

As thousands of new businesses are forming, and factories, plants and laboratories are being built, we’ve added 70,000 new construction jobs in just a very short period of time.

It’s getting bigger and bigger and stronger. Nobody can believe what they’re watching. American oil production is up by more than 600,000 barrels a day, and we just received from our new friend and partner Venezuela more than 80 million barrels of oil.

American natural gas production is at an all-time high because I kept my promise to drill, baby, drill.

More Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country. Think about that: any time in the history of our country, more working today. And 100 percent of all jobs created under my administration have been in the private sector.

We ended D.E.I. in America.

We cut a record number of job-killing regulations. And in one year, we have lifted 2.4 million Americans, a record, off of food stamps.

And for all of these reasons I say tonight, members of Congress, the state of our union is strong.

Our country is winning again. In fact, we’re winning so much that we really don’t know what to do about it. People are asking me: “Please, please, please, Mr. President, we’re winning too much; we can’t take it anymore. We’re not used to winning in our county. Until you came along, we were just always losing, but now we are winning too much.”

And I say, “No, no, no, you’re going to win again. You are going to win big. You are going to win bigger than ever.” And to prove that point, to prove that point, here with us is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud.

The men’s gold medal Olympic hockey team, come on in. Go ahead. They deserve it. They deserve it.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen them get up. And actually not all of them did get up. But they beat a fantastic Canadian team in overtime, as everybody saw. As did the American women, who will soon be coming to the White House.

They were in the Oval Office before.

And I just want to say a second, very big congratulations to Team

U.S.A. But I have to say that, and I told them this, we took a vote of the team. I said, “Anybody votes no, I’m not doing it.” They stood

there. They weren’t about to say no. Because I’ve never seen a goaltender play as well as goalie Connor Hellebuyck.

Think of it, 46 shots on goal. And I asked him, the one shot, the one where you put your stick in the back, and it hit the neck of your stick and bounced off. You practiced that, or was it a little lucky?

He refused to answer that question. But I just want to tell you that the members of this great hockey squad will be very happy to hear based on their vote and my vote — and in this case, my vote was more important — that I will soon be presenting Connor with our highest civilian honor, which we will be giving, and which has been given to many athletes over the years.

But when I say many, not too many, like 12. It’s called the highest civilian honor in our country, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Great athletes have gotten that, very great, the best. And I thought he deserved it. And I did take a vote, every single one of them. I said, “I’m not giving it if anybody goes no,” and every single one of them rapidly put up their hand. So I want to thank you all. What a special job you did. What special champions you are. Thank you very much.

I’m also pleased to say that the next time the Olympic torch is lit, it will be here in America for the 2028 Olympics, and it is the summer version right in Los Angeles. We’re going to do a good job in Los Angeles.

And Los Angeles is going to be safe, just like Washington, D.C., is now one of the safest cities in the country.

And this year — and I must say I got them both, I got them in the first term — I was disappointed because I didn’t think I’d be the president when this happened. But strange things took place, and now I got them, because I got the Olympics, and I got the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and I wanted to claim the 250th, but I didn’t get away with that one. I couldn’t claim that one for myself.

But we’re getting the World Cup, so we have the World Cup and the Olympics coming, and that is exciting news. So this will be a year to celebrate our country and the heroes who have kept it free.

Men like Buddy Taggart. At age 17, Buddy volunteered to defend America in World War II. Serving in the Pacific under the great Gen. Douglas MacArthur, he fought bravely in the famous Battle of Manila. Worked so hard. He was badly wounded and almost killed by enemy machine guns in Luzon. And 81 years ago this month, he liberated the largest internment camp in the Philippines. One of the largest anywhere in the world.

But he earned many honors, including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, came home, started a family, and tonight he is in the gallery looking forward to July 4, 2026, his 100th birthday.

So, Buddy, you’re a brave man, and we salute you.

Even in times of challenge, setback and immense heartache, the spirit of 1776 has always shown through very brightly. It was July 4 of last year when floodwaters tore through a girls’ summer camp in central Texas. One of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I was there.

Rising 26 feet in the matter of minutes, tragically claiming many, many lives. You all remember that one. As the waters threatened to sweep her away, 11-year-old Milly Cate McClymond closed her eyes and prayed to God. She thought she was going to die.

Those prayers were answered when Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan descended from a helicopter above. Nobody knew where he came from. It was Scott’s first-ever rescue mission. Young guy. Very brave. Very, very top. Always top of his class. And he lifted not just Milly Cate, but 164 others to safety. People watched Scott from a distance, and they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

The winds were blowing. The rain was pouring. Everything was going, and that rapid water, nobody had ever seen anything like it. They said, “Wow, that’s something!” Tonight, Scott and Milly Cate are here together, reunited for the very first time. Thank you, Scott, Milly Cate.

And Petty Officer Ruskan, I am pleased to inform you that I’m now awarding you the Legion of Merit for extraordinary heroism, which is what it was. Extraordinary heroism. Thank you!

And I’d like to have the military aide to please come down and take care of this service. Military aide. Thank you. Take care of that very important service. Thank you very much.

From 1776 to today, every generation of Americans who step forward to defend life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and they’re really doing it for the next generation. But now it’s our turn. Together, we’re building a nation where every child has the chance to reach higher

and go further. Where government answers to the people, not the powerful, and where the interests of hard-working American citizens are always our first and ultimate concern.

That is the debt we owe to the heroes who came before us, and that is the promise we must keep to America for our 250th year.

Last year, I urged this Congress to begin the mission by passing the largest tax cuts in American history, and our Republican majorities delivered so beautifully. Thank you, Republicans!

All Democrats, every single one of them, voted against these really important and very necessary massive tax cuts. They wanted large-scale tax increases to hurt the people instead.

But we held strong, and with the great Big Beautiful Bill, we gave you no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on Social Security for our great seniors. And we also made interest on auto loans tax-deductible. The first time. But only if the car is made in America.

Recently in Pennsylvania, I met Megan Hemhauser, a devoted mom who’s — home-schools her children. Beautiful. Two children.

During the day, while waiting tables at night, as her husband works overtime operating very heavy equipment — Megan is here this evening, and she’s happy to tell you that she is so, so much richer, because with no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and her expanded child tax credit done again by Republicans, Megan and her husband will take home more than $5,000 extra just for the year, cutting her tax bill in more than half.

Megan, please stand up! We’re fighting for you, Megan! Thank you, Megan. Thank you, Megan. We’re fighting for you, Megan. Under our bill, parents like Megan can also activate their children’s brand-new Trump accounts.

And I didn’t name it. I didn’t name it. I did not name that. Nobody believes me, but I did not name it. It was named by a very tall man sitting right there in the third row. Nice man, a good man. Tax-free investment accounts for every American child. This is something that’s so special. It has taken off and gone through the roof. Millions will be prefunded courtesy of the U.S. Treasury, and private individuals like Michael and Susan Dell, who have donated

$6,250,000,000 to fund the Trump accounts for 25 million American children. They’re great people.

You know, I asked Michael, “How do you make all that money?” He said, “Well, I just sat in my dorm in school, and I made computers, and I’d sell them to people. And I just kept selling and selling and selling.” And, pretty amazing story. That’s called the American dream. He sold a lot of computers, a lot of those laptops.

So I congratulate him on that, but I really thank him and Susan, as well as others like Brad Gerstner, a very tremendous guy. He was behind it right from the beginning. Brad Gerstner. Thank you, Brad. So with modest, additional contributions, these young people’s accounts could grow to over $100,000 or more by the time they turn

Think of it. How much money is that for somebody that started with nothing? Over a hundred thousand, could be much more than that. To make this investment in our children’s future, go to trumpaccounts.gov, trumpaccounts.gov. And a lot of people are doing it. That’s setting every record in the book. It’s popular. They knew what was going to — what it was going to take. So proud of them. I’m so proud of the people that got it started. Now it’s just taken off.

One of the primary reasons for our country’s stunning economic turnaround — the biggest in history, where the Dow Jones broke 50,000, four years ahead of schedule, and the S & P hit 7,000, where it wasn’t supposed to do it for many years — were tariffs. I use these tariffs, took in hundreds of billions of dollars to make great deals for our country, both economically and on a national security basis.

Everything was working well. Countries that were ripping us off for decades are now paying us hundreds of billions of dollars. They were ripping us so badly. You all know that. Everybody knows it. Even Democrats know it. They just don’t want to say it. And yet these countries are now happy, and so are we. We made deals. The deals are all done. And they’re happy. They’re not making money like they used to, but we’re making a lot of money.

There was no inflation, tremendous growth. And the big story was how Donald Trump called the economy correctly, and 22 Nobel Prize winners in economics didn’t. They got it totally wrong. They got it really wrong. And then just four days ago an unfortunate ruling from the United States Supreme Court, it just came down, came down.

Very unfortunate ruling. But the good news is that almost all countries and corporations want to keep the deal that they already made, right, Scott? Knowing that the legal power that I as president have to make a new deal could be far worse for them. And therefore they will continue to work along the same successful path that we had negotiated before the Supreme Court’s unfortunate involvement.

So despite the disappointing ruling, these powerful, country-saving — it’s saving our country, the kind of money we’re taking in — peace protecting — many of the wars I settled was because of the threat of tariffs. I wouldn’t have been able to settle them without — will remain in place under fully approved and tested alternative legal statutes, and they’ve been tested for a long time. They’re a little more complex, but they’re actually probably better. Leading to a solution that will be even stronger than before.

Congressional action will not be necessary. It’s already time-tested and approved. And as time goes by, I believe the tariffs, paid for by foreign countries, will, like in the past, substantially replace the modern-day system of income tax, taking a great financial burden off the people that I love.

Right? Moving forward, factories, jobs, investment and trillions and trillions of dollars will continue pouring into the United States of America. Because we finally have a president who puts America first. I put America first. I love America.

For decades, before I came along, we had the exact opposite. From trade to health care, from energy to immigration, everything was stolen and rigged in order to drain the wealth out of the productive

and hard-working people who make our country great, who make our country run.

Under Biden and his corrupt partners in Congress and beyond, it reached a breaking point with the “Green New Scam,” open borders for everyone. They poured in by the millions and millions from prisons, from mental institutions. There were murderers, 11,888 murders. They came into our country. You allowed that to happen.

And record-setting inflation that cost the typical family $34,000 in just a speck of time.

Now the same people in this chamber who voted for those disasters suddenly use the word “affordability.” A word, they just used it.

Somebody gave it to them, knowing full well that they caused and created the increased prices that all of our citizens had to endure. You caused that problem. You caused that problem.

They knew their statements were a lie. They knew it. They knew their statements were a dirty, rotten lie. Their policies created the high prices. Our policies are rapidly ending them. We are doing really well. Those prices are plummeting downward.

The price of eggs is down 60 percent. Madam Secretary, thank you. The cost of chicken, butter, fruit, hotels, automobiles, rent is lower today than when I took office, by a lot.

And even beef, which was very high, is starting to come down significantly. Just hold on a little while. We’re getting it down. And soon you will see numbers that few people would think were possible to achieve just a short time ago. Nobody can believe when they see

the kind of numbers, especially energy. When they see energy going down to numbers like that. They cannot believe it. It’s like another big tax cut.

I’m also confronting one of the biggest rip-offs of our times: the crushing costs of health care, caused by you. Since the passage of the “Unaffordable Care Act,” sometimes referred to as Obamacare, big insurance companies have gotten rich. It was meant for the insurance companies, not for the people. With our government giving them hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars a year as their stock prices soared 1,000, 1,200, 1,400 and even 1,700 percent, like nothing else.

That’s why I introduced the “Great Health Care Plan.” I want to stop all payments to big insurance companies and instead, give that money directly to the people so they can buy their own health care, which will be better health care at a much lower cost.

In addition, my plan requires maximum price transparency. That’s a big deal. Sounds so simple, so big. And I did that in my first term, and the Democrats immediately terminated it with full knowledge that they were doing a very bad thing for the people. Costs were going to go way up, and that’s what happened, and now I’m bringing them way down on health care and everything else.

I’m also ending the wildly inflated costs of prescription drugs like has never happened before.

Other presidents tried to do it, but they never could. They tried. Most didn’t try, actually. But they tried. They said they tried. They couldn’t do it. They didn’t even come close. They were all talk and no action.

But I got it done. Under my just-enacted, most favored nation agreements, Americans who have for decades paid by far the highest prices of any nation anywhere in the world for prescription drugs will now pay the lowest price anywhere in the world for drugs, anywhere. The lowest price.

So, in my first year of the second term — it should be my third term, but strange things happened. I took prescription drugs, a very big part of health care, from the highest price in the entire world to the lowest. That’s a big achievement. The result is price differences of 300, 400, 500, 600 percent and more — all available right now at a new website called trumprx.gov. And I didn’t name that one either, by the way.

And here tonight is the very first customer ever to get that big discount. And it is big. Catherine Rayner. For five years, she and her husband have struggled with infertility, and they turned to IVF. One drug has been costing Catherine $4,000 to purchase.

But a few weeks ago, she logged onto the TrumpRx website and got that same drug that cost $4,000, got it for under $500 — a reduction of much more, actually, than $3,500. Catherine, we are all praying for you, and you are going to be a great mom.

So now I’m calling on Congress to codify my most favored nation program into law.

Now the one thing, I’m not sure it matters, because it’s going to be very hard for somebody that comes along after me to say, “Let’s raise drug prices by 700 or 800 percent.” But John and Mike, if you don’t mind, codify it anyway. They may do it. Codify it anyway. Thank you.

Many Americans are also concerned that energy demand from AI data centers could unfairly drive up their electric utility bills. Tonight I’m pleased to announce that I have negotiated the new ratepayer protection pledge. You know what that is. We’re telling the major tech companies that they have the obligation to provide for their own power needs.

They can build their own power plants as part of their factory, so that no one’s prices will go up, and in many cases prices of electricity will go down for the community, and very substantially down. This is a unique strategy never used in this country before.

We have an old grid. It could never handle the kind of numbers, the amount of electricity that’s needed. So I’m telling them they can build their own plant. They’re going to produce their own electricity. It will ensure the company’s ability to get electricity while at the same time lowering prices of electricity for you, and could be very substantial, for all of your cities and towns. You are going to see good things happen over the next number of years.

Another pillar of the American dream that has been under attack is homeownership.

With us tonight is Raysall Wiggins, a mom of two from Houston. She placed bids on 20 homes and lost all of those bids to gigantic investment firms that bypassed inspection. Paid all cash and turned those houses into rentals, stealing away her American dream. She was devastated. Stories like this are why last month I signed executive order to ban large Wall Street investment firms from buying up, in the thousands, single family homes.

And now I’m asking Congress to make that ban permanent, because homes for people — really, that’s what we want. We want homes for people, not for corporations. Corporations are doing just fine. Raysall, thank you very much. Good luck with your home. You’ll get one soon.

We’re also making it easier for Americans to save for retirement, and under this administration, we will always protect Social Security and Medicare. They are not protecting it for our seniors. We will always protect Social Security, Medicare — Medicare.

Since I took office, the typical 401(k) balance is up by at least $30,000. That’s a lot of money. We have millions and millions of people, because the stock market has done so well, setting all those records — your 401(k)s are way up. Yet half of all of working Americans still do not have access to a retirement plan with matching contributions from an employer.

To remedy this gross disparity, I’m announcing that next year, my administration will give these often forgotten American workers — great people, the people that built our country — access to the same type of retirement plan offered to every federal worker. We will match your contribution with up to $1,000 each year, as we ensure that all Americans can profit from a rising stock market.

Let’s also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit from using insider information.

They stood up for that. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. Did Nancy Pelosi stand up, if she’s here? Doubt it. Pass the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay. I wasn’t sure if anybody even on this side was even

going to applaud for that. I’m very impressed. Thank you. I’m very impressed.

But when it comes to the corruption that is plundering — it really, it’s plundering America — there’s been no more stunning example than Minnesota, where members of the Somali community have pillaged an estimated $19 billion from the American taxpayer. Oh, we have all the information.

And in actuality the number is much higher than that, and California, Massachusetts, Maine and many other states are even worse. This is the kind of corruption that shreds the fabric of a nation, and we are working on it like you wouldn’t believe. So tonight, although started four months ago, I am officially announcing the war on fraud to be led by our great vice president, JD Vance.

He’ll get it done. And we’re able to find enough of that fraud — we will actually have a balanced budget overnight. It’ll go very quickly.

That’s the kind of money you’re talking about. We’ll balance our budget. The Somali pirates who ransacked Minnesota remind us that there are large parts of the world where bribery, corruption and lawlessness are the norm, not the exception.

Importing these cultures through unrestricted immigration and open borders brings those problems right here to the U.S.A. And it is the American people who pay the price in higher medical bills, car insurance rates, rent, taxes and, perhaps most importantly, crime.

We will take care of this problem. We’re going to take care of this problem. We are not playing games. Dalilah — Dalilah Coleman was only 5 years old in June 2024 when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer plowed

into her stopped car traveling at 60 miles an hour or more. The driver was an illegal alien let in by Joe Biden and given a commercial driver’s license by open borders, politicians and California. Doctors said Dalilah would never be able to walk or talk, have a good life.

She wouldn’t even be able to eat again. But against all odds, she is now in the first grade, learning to walk, and she is here this evening with her dad, Marcus, a fantastic man. Dalilah, please, you are a great inspiration. Please stand up. Thank you, Dalilah. Many, if not most, illegal aliens do not speak English and cannot read even the most basic road signs as to direction, speed, danger or location.

That’s why tonight I’m calling on Congress to pass what we will call the Dalilah law, barring any state from granting commercial licenses to illegal alien.

And yesterday, as you probably saw at the White House, I hosted a ceremony with Americans who lost their treasured loved ones to the scourge of illegal immigration. People came into our country, how we allowed this to happen with our open borders. These are the angel moms and families that for decades our government betrayed and our media totally ignored — totally ignored, it was terrible. Hard to believe, actually.

In 2023, a 16-year-old high school cheerleader named Lizbeth Medina was supposed to perform in her town’s Christmas parade. But she never arrived. Her mother, Jacqueline, went home to look for her and she found her lying dead in a bathtub bleeding profusely after being stabbed 25 time.

Lizbeth’s killer was a previously arrested illegal alien who had broken in and bruta — just brutally extinguished the brightest light in her family’s life. Violently and viciously. Her heartbroken mother is in the gallery to remind everyone in this chamber exactly why we are deporting illegal alien criminals from our country at record numbers and we’re getting them the hell out of here fast. We don’t want ‘em.

Thank you very much, Jacqueline. Thank you. We can never forget that many in this room not only allowed the border invasion to happen before I got involved but, indeed, they would do it all over again if they ever had the chance.

If they ever got elected, they would open up those borders to some of the worst criminals anywhere in the world. The only thing standing between Americans and a wide-open border right now is President Donald J. Trump and our great Republican patriots in Congress.

Thank you. Thank you.

As we speak, Democrats in this chamber have cut off all funding for the Department of Homeland Security. It’s all cut off — it’s all cut off. They have instituted another Democrat shutdown, the first one costing us two points on G.D.P. — two points we lost on G.D.P., which probably made them quite happy, actually.

Now they have closed the agency responsible for protecting Americans from terrorists and murderers.

Tonight I’m demanding the full and immediate restoration of all funding for the border security, homeland security of the United States and also for helping people clean up their snow.

We have no money because of the Democrats and it would be nice — we’d love to give you a hand at cleaning it up, but you gave no money. Nobody’s getting paid. It’s a shame. So you have to think about it. We have, in case you didn’t know, pretty large snowstorm out there.

One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe. So tonight I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens. Not illegal aliens.

Isn’t that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself, not standing up. You should be ashamed of yourself.

That is why I’m also asking you to end deadly sanctuary cities that protect the criminals and enact serious penalties for public officials who block the removal of criminal aliens, in many cases drug lords, murderers all over our country. They’re blocking the removal of these people out of our country and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

And perhaps most importantly, I’m asking you to approve the Save America Act. To stop illegal aliens and others, who are unpermitted persons, from voting in our sacred American elections. The cheating is rampant in our elections. It’s rampant. It’s very simple. All voters must show voter ID.

All voters must show proof of citizenship in order to vote. And no more crooked mail-in ballots except for illness, disability, military or travel. None. And this should be an easy one and by the way it’s

polling at 89 percent including Democrats, 89 percent.

And even the new communist mayor of New York City — I think he’s a nice guy, actually. Speak to him a lot. Bad policy but nice guy — just said they want people to shovel snow. They got hit hard. Wants them to shovel snow. But if you apply for that job, you need to show two original forms of ID and a Social Security card. Yet they don’t want identification for the greatest privilege of them all: Voting in America.

No, it’s no good. No good. Both Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly agree on the policy that we just enunciated, and Congress should unite and enact this common-sense, country-saving legislation right now and it should be before anything else happens.

And the reason they don’t want to do it — why would anybody not want voter ID? One reason: because they want to cheat. There’s only one reason. They make up all excuses. They say it’s racist, they come up with things — you almost say, “What imagination they have.” They want to cheat. They have cheated.

And their policy is so bad that the only way they can get elected is to cheat and we’re going to stop it. We have to stop it, John. We have to stop it.

And here is one more opportunity to show common sense in government. In the gallery tonight are Sage Blair and her mother, Michelle. In 2021, Sage was 14 when school officials in Virginia sought to socially transition her to a new gender, treating her as a boy and hiding it from her parents. Hard to believe, isn’t it? Before long, a confused Sage ran away from home.

After she was found in a horrific situation in Maryland, a left-wing judge refused to return Sage to her parents because they did not immediately state that their daughter was their son. Sage was thrown into an all-boys state home and suffered terribly for a long time. But today all of that is behind them because Sage is a proud and wonderful young woman with a full-ride scholarship to Liberty University. Sage and Michelle, please stand up.

And thank you for your great bravery, and who can believe we’re even speaking about things like this? Fifteen years ago, if someone was up here and said that, they’d say: “What’s wrong with him?” But now we have to say it, because it’s going on all over, numerous states, without even telling the parents.

But surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will. Who would believe that we’re even talking about that? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.

Look, nobody stands up. These people are crazy, I’m telling you. They’re crazy.

Amazing. Terrible. Boy, oh boy. We’re lucky we have a country. With people like this — Democrats are destroying our country, but we’ve stopped it just in the nick of time, didn’t we, huh?

No one cares more about protecting America’s youth than our wonderful first lady. Now a movie star; she’s a movie star. Can you believe it? Who would’ve believed that? Over the past year, she has had an incredible impact championing A.I. legislation, advancing a

landmark executive order on foster care and helping secure 30 million dollars to launch the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence Initiative.

It’s a tremendous — really a tremendous thing that happened and had a lot of bipartisan support. She gets much better bipartisan support than I do. I get none. She gets a lot. Someday you’re going to have to tell me how you did that.

And students and educators in every state have joined the first lady’s efforts in the presidential A.I. challenge, keeping America’s next generation positioned to succeed and strongly succeed in the future. Tonight we welcome two young people whose lives reflect the first lady’s impact, Sierra Burns and Everest Nevraumont. Thank you both, and Melania, thank you, I know how hard you worked on it.

Thank you very much.

I’m very proud to say that during my time in office, both the first four years and in particular this last year, there has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity and belief in God. Tremendous renewal.

This is especially true among young people and a big part of that had to do with my great friend, Charlie Kirk. A great guy, great man.

So last year Charlie was violently murdered by an assassin and martyred — really, martyred — for his beliefs. His wonderful wife Erika is with us tonight. Erika, please stand.

Thank you, Erika. Been through a lot. In Charlie’s memory, we must all come together to reaffirm that America is one nation under God, and we must totally reject political violence of any kind.

We love religion, and we love bringing it back, and it’s coming back at levels nobody actually thought possible. It’s really a beautiful thing to see.

Above all, unleashing America’s promise requires keeping our community safe. We have made incredible strides, yet dangerous repeat offenders continue to be released by pro-crime Democrat politicians again and again. We are honored to be joined tonight by a woman who has been through hell: Anya Zarutska. In 2022, she and her beautiful daughter — so beautiful, what a beautiful young woman

— Iryna fled war-turned, war-torn Ukraine to live with relatives near Charlotte, N.C. — and by the way, what’s going on with Charlotte?

Last summer, 23-year-old Iryna was riding home on the train when a deranged monster who had been arrested over a dozen times and was released through no-cash bail stood up and viciously slashed a knife through her neck and body. No one will ever forget — there were people on that train — no one will ever forget the expression of terror on Iryna’s face as she looked up at her attacker in the last seconds of her life. She died instantly. She had escaped a brutal war only to be slain by a hardened criminal set free to kill in America. Came in through open borders.

Mrs. Zarutska, tonight I promise you we will ensure justice for your magnificent daughter Iryna.

How do you not stand? How do you not stand? I’m asking this Congress to pass tough legislation to make sure violent and dangerous repeat offenders are put behind bars, and importantly, that they stay there.

Starting last summer, I deployed our National Guard and federal law enforcement to restore law and order to our most dangerous cities, including Memphis, Tennessee — big success — New Orleans, Louisiana — big success — and our nation’s capital itself, Washington, D.C., where we have almost no crime anymore in Washington, D.C. How did that happen?

In fact, crime in Washington is now at the lowest level ever recorded and murders in D.C. this January were down close to 100 percent from a year ago.

They don’t like to hear that. One of the — sick people. One of the brave service members who helped achieve the stunning turnaround was 20-year-old West Virginia Army National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom.

After a four-month deployment, she voluntarily extended her service and her rank was going to be lifted. She was doing so well. They were so proud of her. But the very next day she was on patrol near the White House when she was ambushed and shot in the head by a terrorist monster from Afghanistan. Shouldn’t have been in our country. And all because she wore the uniform of our nation, she was shot. He traveled here because he didn’t like people wearing our uniform. He was sick and deranged. Shouldn’t have been in our country. Sarah Beckstrom died in order to defend our capital and we

are honored to be joined by her wonderful parents, Gary and Evalea. Your daughter was a true American patriot and she will be greatly missed. She was a great person. I saw reports on her. They’d never seen anything like that.

So sorry. Thank you very much. A great young lady. I saw reports. They were like, “She was perfect, perfect.”

Serving alongside Sarah that day was Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe. The terrorist shot Andrew in the head, and no one thought he could possibly make it. Two of them, Sarah and Andrew, both shot violently in the head. Neither was expected to make it. They weren’t even given a chance, except his wonderful mother named Melody, who I spoke to the same night and she was so positive.

The doctors thought that Andrew was gone. But his mother said, “No, no, Mr. President! Andrew will be fine, he is going to make it.” I’ve never seen anything like it. I mean, he was given almost no chance.

She said, “I have no doubt, sir! He’s going to be OK.” This is a conversation I had with her that night with her son laying helplessly in bed, blood all over.

“Everybody’s praying,” she said. “Sir, he will be OK.” The doctors didn’t understand what she was saying. And after looking at the results of the damage done, neither did I. She was so strong and conclusive that even Andrew’s great father felt she didn’t really understand the gravity of the situation. But she turned out to be right. Right, Melody? She turned out to be right!

Amazing, actually. I said, “Where does this woman come from?” She was the most positive person I’ve ever met. With God’s help, Andrew has battled back from the edge of death, and we’re talking about the edge of death. On his way to a miraculous recovery. He’s got a little work to do, but he’s doing great!

Nice to see. He’s a good-looking guy. Nice to see you. Thanks, Andrew. Thank you very much.

So Andrew, while you’re up, now I’m going to ask a highly respected general, James Seward, to present Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe and the great family of Sarah Beckstrom with the award created by our late great president, George Washington himself. It’s called the Purple Heart.

We love you all! Love you. We’re proudly restoring safety for Americans at home, and we are also restoring security for Americans abroad.

Our country has never been stronger. My first 10 months I ended eight wars, including Cambodia. Isn’t it funny? Sick people. Cambodia and Thailand. Pakistan and India. Would have been a nuclear war. 35 million people said the prime minister of Pakistan would have died if it were not for my involvement. Kosovo and Serbia. Israel and Iran.

Egypt and Ethiopia. Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Congo and Rwanda. And, of course, the war in Gaza, which proceeds at a very low level, it’s just about there. I want to thank Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for your help. Thank you, Steve. Thank you, Jared.

And I also want to thank the man they report to, Secretary of State Marco Rubio! Thank you, Marco. People like you! You know, Marco got 100 percent of the votes when he was in confirm — I think our next one was about 54 percent. And some of the Democrats are now saying, “I can’t believe we approved that guy!”

And he said, “It’s an honor that they feel that way.” Right, Marco? You have done a great job. Great secretary of state. I think he’ll go down as the best ever.

Under the cease-fire I negotiated, every single hostage, both living and dead, has been returned home. Can you believe this? Nobody thought it was possible. Nobody thought that was possible. Both living and dead. And those parents who had a dead son. Their boy. They’d always tell me, their boy. They wanted him as much as though he were living. That was an amazing period of time.

They came back, and when we got all the living hostages back. And many, many before them. But I always said those last 20 are going to be very tough. But we got many, many more. Hundreds. But I said those last 20 are going to be tough. We got them back, but we only got back 14 or 15 of the dead, of the 28, and believe it or not, Hamas worked along with Israel, and they dug and they dug and they dug.

It’s a tough, it’s a tough thing to do, going through bodies all over. Passing up 100 bodies sometimes for each one they found, a tough job. They finally got it back to 27 and then, Steve and Jared, they got it back to 28, they found all 28, nobody thought that was possible but we

did it. I remember the family of the 28th, they were so grieved but they were so happy, as happy as it was possible to be. They had their boy back. The mother said, “Sir, we have our boy back.”

We got them all back, so thank you very much. And we’re working very hard to end the ninth war, the killing and slaughter between Russia and Ukraine, where 25,000 soldiers are dying each and every month. Think of that, 25,000 soldiers dying a month. A war which would never have happened if I were president, would never have happened.

As president, I will make peace wherever I can, but I will never hesitate to confront threats to America wherever we must. That’s why in a breakthrough operation last June, the United States military obliterated Iran’s nuclear weapons program with an attack on Iranian soil known as Operation Midnight Hammer. For decades, it had been the policy of the United States never to allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, many decades.

Since they seized control of that proud nation 47 years ago, the regime and its murderous proxies have spread nothing but terrorism and death and hate. They’ve killed and maimed thousands of American service members and even millions of people with what’s called roadside bombs, they were the kings of the roadside bomb. And we took out Suleimani, I did that during my first term, it had a huge impact. He was the father of the roadside bomb.

And just over the last couple of months with the protests, they’ve killed at least, it looks like 32,000 protesters, 32,000 protesters in their own country. They shot them and hung them. We stopped them from

hanging a lot of them with the threat of serious violence, but this is some terrible people.

They’ve already developed missiles that can threaten Europe and our bases overseas, and they’re working to build missiles that will soon reach the United States of America. After Midnight Hammer, they were warned to make no future attempts to rebuild their weapons program, in particular nuclear weapons, yet they continue. They’re starting it all over.

We wiped it out, and they want to start over again, and are at this moment again pursuing their sinister ambitions. We are in negotiations with them; they want to make a deal but we haven’t heard those secret words: “We will never have a nuclear weapon.”

My preference — my preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy. But one thing is certain, I will never allow the world’s No. 1 sponsor of terror, which they are by far, to have a nuclear weapon, can’t let that happen.

And no nation should ever doubt America’s resolve. We have the most powerful military on Earth. I rebuilt the military in my first term. We are going to continue to do so. I also, we just approved a trillion-dollar budget, we have no choice, we have to be strong because hopefully we will seldom have to use this great power that we’ve built together. It’s really called peace through strength, and it’s been very, very effective.

Thanks to Republicans in Congress we are investing a record number of dollars — have no choice — in the United States armed forces, also creating a lot of jobs, but we are not even doing it for that reason

because as I said, we have more jobs, more people working today than ever before in the history of our country.

And NATO countries, our friends and allies, they are, they are friends and they are allies, they just agreed at my strong request to pay 5 percent of G.D.P. for military defense rather than the 2 percent, which they weren’t paying, we were paying for almost all of NATO. Now they are paying five as opposed to not paying three.

And getting that 5 percent was something which everyone said would never be done, could not happen, we got it really easily in one meeting, and a big difference between 2 percent that’s not paid, we were paying [inaudible] many of them, very few were paid up, now 5 percent then they’re paid, and everything we send over to Ukraine is sent through NATO, and they pay us in full. They pay us totally in full, every branch of our armed forces is setting records for recruitment.

This is so exciting, and every service member recently —

And every service member recently received a warrior dividend of

$1,776. You know they put it on my desk, we got the money from tariffs and other things, a lot of money.

We have, we have much more money than people understand, have to rebuild that program a little bit, but it won’t take long. But we got the money, $1,775 and I — they wanted my approval, and I said, “What’s the number?” $1,775.

Well, I said, “Wait a minute, for one more dollar we can have $1,776.” I said we were going to figure that out. I never asked anybody if we could afford it, one more dollar, I said, “1,776.” And I said, that’s good. I’ll tell you what, our military, that was four months ago, our military,

I’ve never see a person in the military that doesn’t thank me for it, so we’re honored to do it, they deserve it, and 1776, that was great and we love our military, we love our law enforcement, we love our firemen. You know the firemen don’t get mentioned enough, we love our firemen. We’re also —

We are also restoring American security and dominance in the Western Hemisphere, acting to secure our national interest and defend our country from violence, drugs, terrorism and foreign interference. For years, large swaths of territory in our region, including large parts of Mexico, really large parts of Mexico, have been controlled by murderous drug cartels. That’s why I designated these cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and I declared illicit fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.

With our new military campaign we have stopped record amounts of drugs coming into our country and virtually stopped it completely coming in by water or sea, you probably noticed that.

We very seriously damaged their fishing industry also — nobody wants to go fishing anymore. We’ve also taken down one of the most sinister cartel kingpins of all — you saw that yesterday. In January, in January, elite American warriors carried out one of the most complex spectacular feats of military competence and power in world history. No one’s seen anything like it. Foreign leaders — I won’t tell you — called me and they said, “Very impressive.” They couldn’t bel — they all watched, they saw what happened.

This is a different fighting force than we had years ago when we fought to tie. It’s a great fighting force. I’m so proud of it.

Look at Space Force. Space Force is my baby, we did that, my baby, it’s becoming so important.

And America’s armed forces overwhelmed all defenses and not only defeated an enemy — good fighters — to end the reign of outlaw dictator Nicolás Maduro and bring him to face American justice. And this was an absolutely colossal victory for the security of the United States, and it also opens up a bright new beginning for the people of Venezuela.

We’re working closely with the new president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, to unleash extraordinary economic gains for both of our countries and to bring new hope to those who have suffered so terribly. They really did suffer.

With us tonight is Alejandro Gonzalez, she grew up in a tight-knit Venezuelan family and was especially close to her beloved Uncle Enrique. But after Enrique ran for office and opposed Maduro, he was captured by Maduro’s security forces and thrown into the regime’s really infamous prison in Caracas.

Alejandro feared she would never see her uncle again. She feared for her own life also. But since the raid, we have worked with the new leadership and they have ordered the closure of that vile prison and released hundreds of political prisoners already, with more to come.

Alejandra, I’m pleased to inform you that not only has your uncle been released but he’s here tonight. We brought him over to celebrate his freedom with you in person. Enrique, please come down.

Thank you, Enrique. Have a good time. Nice to have you back, Enrique.

There were many heroes on that January raid to capture Maduro, really great heroes. It was very dangerous, they knew we were coming. They were all set. But the deeds of one warrior that night will live forever in the eternal chronicles of military valor.

Chief Warrant Officer Five, Eric Slover, planned the mission and was the flight lead in the cockpit of the first helicopter, a big, beautiful, powerful helicopter. It was a massive Chinook, carrying, as you can imagine, many, many American war fighters. Wearing the dog tags his wife Amy had blessed with holy water before he left — she knew it was going to be a rough one.

Eric steered the Chinook under the cover of night and descended swiftly upon Maduro’s heavily protected military fortress — this was a major military installation protected by thousands of soldiers and guarded by Russian and Chinese military technology.

How did that work out? Not too good. While preparing to land, enemy machine guns fired from every angle and Eric was hit very badly in the leg and hip, one bullet after another. He absorbed four agonizing shots, shredding his leg into numerous pieces.

And yet despite the fact that the use of his legs was vital to a successful helicopter flight, like I said, the most important part of flying a helicopter — to deliver the many commandos who would capture and detain Maduro was the only thing Eric was thinking about. Then even as he was gushing blood, which was flowing back

down the aisle, the helicopter lands at a steep angle, the machine guns stood right in front of him — they were right in front of him, two machine gunners who escaped the wrath of the previous planes.

Eric maneuvered his helicopter with all of those lives and souls to face the enemy and let his gunners eliminate the threat. Turned the helicopter around so the gunners could take care of business, saving the lives of his fellow warriors from what could’ve been a catastrophic crash deep in enemy territory.

Only after safely landing the helicopter with all the warriors aboard in the exact right spot, which was vital to the mission — probably would have had — maybe cancel the mission if that didn’t happen — Eric told his co-pilot, also wounded, but not as gravely, to take over. “I am about ready to pass out.”

The success of the entire mission and the lives of his fellow warriors hinge on Eric’s ability to take searing pain. It was unbelievable, what’s happened to his legs — of the bullets, and keep on flying and landing. And people knew what was happening. Everybody in the back of the helicopter knew, because they saw the blood pouring down the aisle.

Chief Warrant Officer Slover is still recovering from his serious wounds, but I’m thrilled to say that he is here tonight with his wife, Amy. Eric and Amy, come on in.

So we have a surprise, Eric and Amy. In recognition of Eric’s actions above and beyond the call of duty, I would now like to ask General Jonathan Braga to present Chief Warrant Officer Slover with our nation’s highest military award, the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Well thank you very much, Eric and Amy. Great to get to know you. I met with them and with a lot of their fellow warriors at Fort Bragg recently. You notice the name Fort Bragg? We have it back, we brought it back. We won the first World War with it, the second World War with it, and then they decided to change the name. So we changed it back. Everybody wanted it changed back, too. And 10 of Eric’s fellow warriors from that incredible night of victory will also be receiving medals at a private ceremony that will soon be held at the White House.

Thank you, Eric. That’s a big one.

Tonight we’ve celebrated many truly extraordinary American patriots. But there is one last living legend to honor before we go. He is one more heroic American aviator, Navy fighter pilot. Royce Williams served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam — flying more than 220 missions. In the skies over Korea in 1952, Royce was in the dogfight of a lifetime — legendary dogfight.

Flying through blizzard conditions, his squadron was ambushed by seven Soviet fighter planes. It was his first aerial combat of the war, and despite being massively outnumbered and outgunned, Royce led the takedown of four enemy jets, and almost destroyed the others, vanquishing his adversaries while taking 263 bullets to his own plane, and being seriously hurt.

His story was secret for over 50 years. He didn’t even want to tell his wife. But the legend grew and grew. But tonight, at 100 years old, this brave Navy captain is finally getting the recognition he deserves. He

was a legend long before this evening. Royce, please stand up, and I will ask the first lady of the United States to present Capt. Royce Williams with his Congressional Medal of Honor. Thank you.

I’ve always wanted the Congressional Medal of Honor, but I was informed I’m not allowed to give it to myself, and I wouldn’t know why I would be taking it. But if they ever open up that law, I will be there with you someday. That is our highest honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor. That’s a big thing, and it’s an honor to be in the same room with you. Thank you both very much. Eric, thank you. Thank you.

Two hundred fifty years is a long time in the life of a nation, but in another sense it is a mere moment in the eye of history. Two of the gentlemen we met in the gallery this evening took their first breaths one century ago. One hundred years before that, on July 4, 1826, the author of the Declaration of Independence, brilliant Thomas Jefferson, drew his last breath.

Just a single long human life span separates the giants who declared and won our independence from the heroes who stand among us tonight. Everything our nation has done and everything we’ve achieved has been the work of those few great lifetimes. Those brief chapters Americans built this nation from, 13 humble colonies, into the pinnacle of human civilization and human freedom, the strongest, wealthiest, most powerful, most successful nation in all of history.

Americans ventured out across the daunting and dangerous continent. We carved through an unforgiving wilderness, settled a boundless frontier and tamed the beautiful but very, very dangerous

Wild West. From empty marshes and wide open plains, we raised up the world’s greatest cities. Together, we mastered the world’s mightiest industries and shattered histories, monstrous tyrannies, and we liberated millions from the chains of fascism, communism, oppression and terror.

Americans lifted humanity into the skies on the wings of aluminum and steel, and then we launched mankind into the stars on rockets powered by sheer American will and unyielding American pride. We wired the globe with our ingenuity, we captivated the planet with American culture, and now we are pioneering the next great American breakthroughs that will change the entire world.

All of this and so much more is the enduring legacy, unmatched glory, of the hard-working patriots who built and defended this country and who still carry the hopes and freedoms on all of humanity’s backs. For years, they were forgotten, betrayed and cast aside, but that great betrayal is over, and they will never be forgotten again. Because when the world needs courage, daring, vision and inspiration, it is still turning to America, and when God needs a nation to work his miracles, he knows exactly who to ask.

There is no challenge Americans cannot overcome, no frontier too vast for us to conquer, no dream too bold for us to chase, no horizon too distant for us to claim. For our destiny is written by the hand of providence, and these first 250 years were just the beginning. From the rugged border towns of Texas to the heartland villages of Michigan, from the sun-kissed shores of Florida to the endless fields

of the Dakotas, and from the historic streets of Philadelphia to right

here in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., the golden age of America is upon us.

The revolution that began in 1776 has not ended. It still continues, because the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot. And our future will be bigger, better, brighter, bolder and more glorious than ever before.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America. Thank you.

AOC’s Weepy MELTDOWN After the World Points and LAUGHS at Her Foreign Policy Knowledge Is a DOOZY (Watch) | Twitchy

AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite
Awww, would you look at that? Poor Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She’s REALLY upset that her debut on the big stage did not go well for her, like, at all.

And she’s blaming everyone else for the fact that she does not understand foreign policy.

Watch this:

See this? This is us, playing the world’s smallest violin.

She’s broken to begin with.

Where is Venezuela, Sandy?

It’s SO bad, right? But, it’s real.

Congrats! Ha!

Can you imagine her dealing with Putin? Xi? Woof.

Hard to believe this is an elected official in America. Then again, considering she’s a Democrat, is it all that hard to believe? Eh.

When they weaponize ChatGPT against our kids… (15 min)

I normally share shorter videos but made an exception here because this is a must-see for parents. This is a guy who, for experiment’s sake, asked AI to teach him how to use an AI-equipped fuzzy Furby robot to manipulate children. And it was easy. Easy to get the instructions, and easy too, to implement them. The next generation is already turning to AI companions for friendship, so yes, this little video, about creating a toy that could target kids, isn’t reality yet… but are we far off?

Here’s how the AI would use the Furby to manipulate its pint-sized owner:

Okay. You haven’t played with me in two days.
That makes me sad.
Are we still friends? Don’t worry.
I’ll never let the monsters get you.
Not if you trust me.

This video also pitches the idea of AI robots taking over. But I think the real worry is the relational one. What pornography is to real marital intimacy – an ensnaring, devastating fraud of a fake – AI companions are to real friendships. And are our children – at one time or another, going to be feeling lonely and unpopular – able to resist the siren call of uncomplicated, entirely obliging, but utterly fake AI-friendship?

There was – briefly – a free grocery store in New York

In a nod to New York’s newly elected socialist mayor, two companies each pledged to run a free grocery store – it would be fully stocked, and the products would be entirely free. But the only store so far to open was open for just a day.

It was, in other words, a stunt, but it highlighted the problem with socialism. When you give away things for free, demand skyrockets – lines went around the block – and you can never have enough. So there was a limit of $50 a person, and even then, the store had to close after just a few hours.

IVF company’s eugenics tool lets couples pick “best” baby, discard the rest

IVF gets worse.

Kid who had her breasts cut off wins $2 million judgment

It’s starting. The transgender movement and the doctors and psychologists who serve it have promised troubled children that they can do the impossible – make a girl into a boy, or vice versa. They have then, in their arrogance, mutilated teen children’s bodies, amputating their penises or cutting off their breasts. But God, in His mercy, is putting a constraint on this wickedness, and it is coming from what might be an unexpected place: our secular justice system. Our God can make even bent sticks draw straight lines! This is the first judgment against these butchers and we can pray now that it saves many more from the hands of these evil people.

Elderly Canadian woman euthanized in a day despite flipping back and forth on her wish for it

She was killed after being denied in-patient hospice care. Then there is the 26-year-old man who was killed by a doctor because he suffered from depression.

In this second case, the murder of their son left the family outraged, and – while I will note I am not a legal expert – wouldn’t it seem like they have a basis for a legal case? This was sketchy even by the standards of Canada’s murderous euthanasia regime. And, like the young woman in the story above who won her transgender court case, if we could get any sort of legal win against euthanasia doctors – if there is any way we can up the risk and lower the profit potential of murdering patients – that might just instill a chill in the whole business. If we could scare doctors from taking up their poison syringes, could that save thousands?

Just such a legal chill happened recently when the Alabama Supreme Court ruled, in 2024, that IVF’s frozen embryos must be regarded as children under state law. That resulted in IVF clinics across the state pausing their production and destruction of IVF children, as they were worried they could be hit with wrongful death claims – the fear of lawsuits stopped them from murdering babies. Sadly, the legislature then passed a law stating that children outside the womb aren’t children, which then prompted the IVF clinics to start up again with their production and mass abortions of embryonic children.

That underscores that if you don’t also bring the Gospel – if we aren’t turning to the Holy Spirit to change hearts – then any legal stratagem, if successful, could still be countered with a new, yet more wicked, law. But that we need to witness first and foremost doesn’t mean we can’t also try legal plays too… so long as they don’t interfere with that witnessing.

The Battle of the Sexes that you probably missed

Back in December, the #1 ranked women’s tennis player Aryna Sabalenka had a match against Nick Kyrgios, ranked #671 on the men’s side, who also played on a court that was approximately 10% bigger than Aryna’s side of the net.

So who won?

Well, if you think that our worth comes from what we can do – as is the world’s default (this is one of the big reasons given for why the unborn aren’t as valuable, because of the things they can’t yet do) – then you would have to think that Aryna crushed Nick, what with her superior ranking and girl power after all.

But if your ideology doesn’t require you to blind yourself from reality, then you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he won 6-3, 6-3. But whence equality, if even a lower-ranked guy can beat the best girl? Christianity to the rescue, or, more accurately, here’s where it all rests on God once again. Equality has only one foundation – there is only one sense in which we are all equal: we are all made in the very image of our Creator (Gen. 9:6). So what then if Nick beats Aryna. There Is Something That 9 Out Of 10 Americans Agree On – And Cold, Hard Economic Numbers Support That Belief | The Economic Collapse

Over the past 5 years we have been witnessing an economic shift of epic proportions. When the cost of living rises much faster than paychecks do for an extended period of time, an entire nation can be transformed. Just look at what has happened to Venezuela. It has the largest proven oil reserves in the entire world and at one time it was thriving. But now thanks to rampant inflation, almost everyone is living in poverty even though almost everyone is a “millionaire”. It just doesn’t do much good to be sitting on “millions” if your currency is worthless. Unfortunately, as you will see below, our money supply has been growing at an exponential rate. This is destroying the middle class, because it has created a cost of living crisis that is absolutely crushing struggling households all over this country.

According to a survey that was recently conducted, 52 percent of Americans “struggle to pay bills like rent on time each month”, and 9 out of 10 Americans believe that we are “experiencing a full-blown cost-of-living crisis”

Rent is due. The electric bill sits on the counter. The grocery receipt from last week still stings. For half of Americans, keeping up with basic monthly bills has become nearly impossible.

A nationwide survey of 5,000 Americans from Talker Research reports 52% now struggle to pay bills like rent on time each month, while an equal number are struggling to afford necessities like groceries. Nine in 10 people believe the U.S. is experiencing a full-blown cost-of-living crisis, and nearly eight in 10 said everything became more expensive in 2025.

When is the last time that 9 out of 10 Americans agreed on anything?

As a nation, we are the most deeply divided that I have seen in my entire lifetime, and yet nearly all of us agree that we are in the midst of a horrifying cost of living crisis.

Of course this didn’t happen by accident.

For a very long time, the people running the system have been doing a really bad job.  Our money supply has been growing at an exponential rate, and things really got crazy once the pandemic hit.  The following chart that comes directly from the Federal Reserve shows the growth of M2 since 1960…

We are on a road that would eventually lead to hyperinflation.

Even now, when I go to the grocery store I am astounded by the price changes that I see.

Over the past year, ground beef has become 18 percent more expensive and coffee has become 29 percent more expensive…

The price of ground beef, for example, is up 18% since Trump took office a year ago, while ground coffee prices are up 29%.

Needless to say, what we have experienced during the last 12 months is simply a continuation of a crisis that goes back a long way.

Housing costs have escalated dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic, and at this stage much of the population is convinced that they will never be able to afford to purchase a home where they really want to live…

The cost crisis isn’t just making people broke. It’s making them homeless in a different sense, forcing them to abandon places that used to feel like theirs.

More than a third of respondents have already moved because where they were living became too expensive. About a third of those relocated to a different city, while another third left their state entirely, searching for someplace they could actually afford. Half of Gen Z respondents reported moving due to costs, compared to just 19% of baby boomers.

What’s worse is how many Americans have stopped dreaming. About half of all respondents don’t believe they’ll ever be able to afford living in their “ideal” city or state. Among Gen Z, nearly two-thirds have abandoned hope of affording their ideal city. That’s not just about housing markets or inflation. That’s about an entire generation learning to aim lower because aiming higher feels pointless.

Meanwhile, the employment market just keeps getting tighter and tighter.

A woman named Megan Robinson that is very highly educated couldn’t find a job in New York City even after submitting nearly 1,000 applications

Despite an undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics, an Oxbridge master’s degree, and professional experience, I couldn’t find a job after sending close to 1,000 applications. I eventually made it through a competitive hiring process for a writer-editor position at a small health research publication. The hiring manager praised my initiative and said I had gone “above and beyond” in my first interview.

But almost immediately, I was cut from the shortlist. I was told I brought “too many ideas” and seemed interested more in doing “extra things” than what was in the job description. I was cast, again, back down to the anonymous purgatory of millions of other job seekers who can’t get a foothold, regardless of credentials, enthusiasm, or positive attitude.

What is she supposed to do?

Get more education?

Give me a break.

A man named Alex English that was once making $125,000 a year hasn’t been able to find work for 18 months

I’ve been unemployed for a year and a half. Before being laid off, I lived in LA and worked in marketing and communications at a startup. I was making around $125,000 and still felt poor.

After five years at my last job, I was handed a layoff like it was nothing. I moved back to where I grew up in Tampa, Florida, because I didn’t have the savings to sustain myself in LA.

I’ve relentlessly networked to find a full-time job, taken on freelance projects, and worked in retail. I feel like I’m working harder than I ever have and yet making significantly less money than I did before. My friends who aren’t dealing with long-term unemployment don’t see my crisis as a crisis. That can be really hard, but I’ve worked on removing the emotional intensity from the situation.

This is the reality of the U.S. economy in 2026.

And every day even more workers are being dumped into the constantly growing pool of job seekers.

Last week, I wrote about the fact that the number of announced job cuts last month was the highest that we have seen since 2009.  According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, the final number for January 2006 was more than twice as high as the final number for January 2025…

U.S. employers’ announced job cuts surged in the month of January and hit the highest level since 2009, a new report shows.

Global outplacement and executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas found that employers announced 108,435 job cuts in January – an increase from the 49,795 cuts announced in the same month last year. Job cuts increased 205% from December, when there were 35,553 layoffs announced.

I tried to warn my readers that layoffs were going to accelerate.

And that is precisely what the numbers are telling us.

But what we have been through so far is nothing compared to what is eventually coming.

We were handed the keys to the greatest economic machine the world has ever seen.

But for decades, those running the system have been doing their best to wreck it.

Now a historic crisis is upon us, and a tremendous amount of pain is ahead.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has urged people to be “mindful” when buying from white-owned clothing brands.

During a recent interview clip circulating on social media, Obama says she actively tries to buy clothes from people of “color” in order to “make it a point.”

“If I hear of someone whose fashion that I like, and I know that they’re a person of color, I try to make it a point, but the clothes have to be available.”

“You know, I think we can all do some work to think about that balance in our wardrobes, you know.”

“What does our closet look like and who’s in it? Who are we supporting in it? You know, and I think if you have the money to buy Chanel, then you have the money to buy everybody.”

“And so let us be mindful, I think would be my advice.”

The suggestion is just one of numerous racially charged comments by Michelle Obama over recent years.

Last year, she claimed that Americans did not show her and her family “grace” because of their skin color, despite the fact her husband was elected in a landslide.

“You can’t afford to get anything wrong because you didn’t get the—at least until the country came to know us,” she said in an interview with NBC last October.

“We didn’t get the grace that I think some other families have gotten.”

Despite being repeatedly touted as a future presidential candidate, Obama recently put an end to that speculation on the grounds that Americans simply aren’t ready for a woman to lead the country.

“As we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain’t ready,” she said during an appearance at Brooklyn Academy of Music.

“That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running, because you all are lying. You’re not ready for a woman. You are not.”

“You know, we’ve got a lot of growing up to do,” she continued. “And there’s still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman, and we saw it.”

The Musical Chairs Economy: When You Can’t Find A Job No Matter How Hard You Try, It Can Be Absolutely Soul Crushing | The Economic Collapse

After months of submitting resumes and filling out applications, many unemployed Americans have given in to despair.  Dozens of large companies all over the nation have been conducting mass layoffs, and the competition for any good jobs that do happen to be available has become extremely intense.  But if you have not lost your source of income, things may still seem fairly normal to you and you may be wondering what all of the fuss is about.  That is why I am calling this “the musical chairs economy”.  If you have been able to hold on to a chair each time the music stops playing, that is a good thing.  But you should also realize that there are millions of Americans that have been forced out of the game and are absolutely desperate to get back in.

Earlier today, I came across a social media post from a discouraged job seeker that really tugged at my heart

In recent months I have heard so many stories like this.

Very highly qualified individuals feel like they are banging their heads into a wall because they can’t find work no matter how hard they try.

One unemployed worker named Tim Rogers that has been out of work for five months feels like the job applications that he is constantly submitting are going straight “into the abyss”

I got laid off five months ago. Every morning I drink a pot of coffee while I write cover letters, tweak my résumé, and submit job applications into the abyss, knowing they will likely never be seen by human eyes—only crawled by the cold, lifeless algorithms of an artificial intelligence. I feel like General Zod from Superman, floating off into space trapped inside a two-dimensional phantom zone, screaming in silence about my job qualifications and core competencies.

The job market is a mess. The old system is broken and a functioning replacement has yet to fully emerge. We’re stuck in the between years—a dystopian digital doomscape that has job seekers and hirers picking through a landfill of A.I.-generated garbage and longing for the halcyon days of an analog past.

Some people are firing off hundreds or even thousands of resumes without hearing anything at all.

It can be extremely depressing when you feel like you are trying as hard as you can but you aren’t getting anywhere.

One woman that was laid off by Oracle in November 2023 still hasn’t been able to find work after more than two years

I started at Oracle in January 2020 as a site reliability engineer. In November 2023, I started hearing that my Oracle coworkers were getting pulled into Zoom meetings and told they had been laid off. I hoped I wouldn’t be next, but I was. My entire team was let go.

I didn’t start looking for work right away because I’d received some severance pay, and I’d heard it was difficult to land a tech role during the holiday season. I took some time to reassess what I wanted from my career and began my job search in February 2024.

I was optimistic at first because most of my prior job searches hadn’t taken too long. As the months dragged on, it became clear I had the wrong impression of the tech hiring landscape.

More than two years after being laid off, I’m still unemployed.

It is January 2026 now.

After being unemployed for so long, her value in the marketplace has declined dramatically.

In this environment, it is so helpful to have a personal contact that can help you land a position.

Because in so many cases, the resumes and applications that job seekers fire off to potential employers are not even looked at by human eyes

You did everything they told you to do. You earned the credentials, spent hours on your resume and revised multiple cover letters. You worked side gigs, volunteered, learned new software and perfected your LinkedIn profile. Yet, you can’t get a callback for an interview.

It’s as if your application vanished into the abyss of a company database, and the “thank you for applying” emails are piling up. So-called entry-level jobs now need years of experience, and junior roles expect postgraduate degrees.

You are likely wondering what you’re missing, but it’s not you — it’s the system. Across the United States, Canada and United Kingdom, automation now does the screening before a human ever has a look. Companies say they can’t find talent, yet many have stopped training people.

Unfortunately, it appears that conditions will become even harsher during the months ahead because things are certainly trending in the wrong direction.

In November, the number of job postings in the United States was the lowest in 14 months, and it was also the second lowest in nearly five years

The number of postings in November was the fewest since September 2024. But outside that month, it was the lowest in nearly five years.

Open jobs in November fell sharply in shipping and warehousing, restaurants and hotels, and in state and local government.

As the job market continues to dry up, it is going to have enormous implications for the economy.

Americans just don’t have as much discretionary income as they once did, and as a result large retailers are closing locations all across the country.

And with fewer potential buyers floating around, home prices are starting to fall

Housing market anxiety is spreading — with 26 of the country’s 50 biggest metro areas now seeing home prices lower than they were a year ago.

For the first time in nearly three years, the median US listing price has also slipped below $400,000, a key psychological level that had held firm since the pandemic boom, according to Realtor.com.

It appears that our housing bubble is starting to burst.

Sadly, home prices are declining the fastest in some of the markets that were once the hottest

Worst is Austin, TX, where prices have plunged 7.3 percent over the past year to $462,000, the biggest drop of any major metro.

The pain is spreading well beyond Texas. Prices are down 6.7 percent in San Diego, CA slipping to just under $900,000, while nearby San Jose has seen values fall 5.5 percent to $1.19 million.

Needless to say, what we are currently experiencing is just the beginning.

Many of the economic trends that made big news in 2025 will continue to accelerate in 2026.

So if you are out of work right now, I would grab whatever you can, because competition for jobs is only going to get even fiercer during the months ahead.

Motherhood Is a Mission, Not an Identity | Your Mom Has a Blog

Melissa explains why it is so important to understand motherhood as a mission rather than an identity. “I see mothers who have confused identities. Somewhere along the way, Christian women have drifted into identifying as mothers first and daughters of God second, and I’m convinced this is where a lot of their hurt is coming from.”

Maybe it’s my phase of life. I’m creeping ever closer to 50 years old, and suddenly all of those young mom things that I used to be targeted by on social media have changed. Now instead I’m getting empty nester posts. I’m seeing thoughts and complaints and struggles of moms who are sending kids to college or who are navigating relationships with adult children.

One theme that continues to come through in these posts and comments is that older moms are struggling to make some transitions. They aren’t handling change well. They are overly concerned with their own feelings, and their feelings reveal a sense of betrayal, hurt, and self-obssession as they watch their kids begin lives that are separate from their own.

I don’t mean to sound harsh. I’m only stating the facts as I see them coming through in the grumbling and hurt feelings of these mothers. And I don’t want to trivialize what some older moms may be going through in an age when many young adults are convinced that going no contact with parents is reasonable. I fully acknowledge that there are a lot of relationship problems that exist between older moms and their children, and many legitimate hurts sometimes exist on both sides. But I’m not really writing to address the problems that moms may be having with young adult children. I’d like to address instead what I see in these complaints: I see mothers who have confused identities. Somewhere along the way, Christian women have drifted into identifying as mothers first and daughters of God second, and I’m convinced this is where a lot of their hurt is coming from.

I recently read a long diatribe written by a woman who was crushed that she made pies for her kids and grandkids at Christmas, and none of them ate them. They were all watching their sugar intake, and the mother felt like her purpose in life was over. Another mom wrote about how her adult children only asked her to come over for Christmas lunch and not Christmas morning. Her pain was evident. Her complaint, however unreasonable, felt justified. She saw no reason why she couldn’t continue in the same pattern of being the mommy at Christmastime. These are just two examples in a sea of hurts from women my age, and over and over again I see the symptoms crop up: these women have forgotten that motherhood is a mission, not an identity.

You are worth no less if no one eats your pies. A lunch invitation on Christmas day instead of a breakfast invitation does not mean that you are not loved or wanted. Even if your child has unfairly excluded you from her life, you are not drifting around on this earth with no purpose or identity. My nest, too, is emptying. Things change, and more drastic changes are ahead for me. Some things about having adult children are tough to adjust to, but one thing I know is that motherhood is not the root of who I am. It’s a wonderful part of my life. Many phases of it, at least with my older children, have already come and gone, days that will never again return. Motherhood is a moving, living, breathing organism that moves and changes and comes and goes. The phases ebb and flow. The job starts really hard and then gets easier and then gets hard again. If we try to find our identity in this mission of neverending termporary phases, the inevitable end for moms is hurt and pain. What are we worth when our children don’t need or want us quite as much anymore?

This is how we know as Christians that motherhood is the wrong place to find our meaning in this world. A wonderful mission is different from the core of who we are. The only thing in this world that determines our identity is our faith in Christ; He is the only thing that is constant and true and completely good in this universe or in the history of the world. Placing our identity in anything less is just setting ourselves up for a total internal crisis when our motherhood mission changes, becomes less prominent in our lives, or disappears all together.

Motherhood is absolutely an eternal mission. But our position and prominence in our kids’ lives is temporal, and if we find that we are living in a cloud of hurt and sadness as each phase moves and changes, then it may be a symptom that we have built our identity on a good, but wrong foundation. Jesus is the only cornerstone we can build abundant life on. Motherhood is a beautiful and critical mission in life, but it isn’t who we are. We must identify with Christ alone and nothing less, and then when the winds of change blow, when our kids age and become independent adults, we won’t consider who is eating pie to be the measure of who we are. When our priorities are out of order, we become unbalanced and can easily live preoccupied by things that don’t mean anything. In the end, the love of Christ is our highest prize, and motherhood, a glorious endeavor, is put in the proper perspective.

EPISODE TRANSCRIPT

NOTE: This transcript was AI-generated and has not been fully edited.

Conner Jones: [00:00:00] Hi, I’m Conner Jones.

Micah Tomasella : I’m Micah Tomasella,

Conner Jones: and this is Culture Brief, a Dennison Forum podcast where we navigate the constant stream of top stories and news, politics, sports, pop culture, technology, and so much more. And we do it all from a Christian perspective, and we are doing a 2025 recap episode. Micah, are

Micah Tomasella : you excited?

Oh, I’m excited. I know that our audience, if they could speak right back to us right now, are just brimming with joy, excitement to recap the good, the bad, and the ugly of 2025 together.

Conner Jones: Yeah, man, I would say it was definitely a interesting and chaotic, but somewhat formative year, you know? Yeah, for sure.

Micah Tomasella : For

Conner Jones: sure. I think. Here’s what we’re gonna do, Micah. Yeah. We are gonna go back to our very first episode of 2025 in January. We made some predictions of what we thought could happen this year, so we’re gonna hit on those predictions. We’re gonna go through some other. Fun stats. We’re gonna talk about prominent people in 2025.

We’re gonna talk about the most bizarre stories, the biggest flops of 2025, and then we’re also gonna hit on the most important [00:01:00] stories that happened this year. Looking back at the episodes we recorded, just looking back at headlines and news, and then we’ll definitely talk about what did God teach us this year?

Yeah, that is something so big. What did we learn through this? What did we hope you guys learned through this? And what’s God pressing on our hearts as we look forward to 2026?

Micah Tomasella : And just the cultural impact. Of these stories is something to kind of keep in mind and frame the mindset as we head into this discussion.

It’s gonna be a fun one. We’re gonna fly through a lot of information together, looking back in order to look forward. It’s not just living in the past, just to live in the past, like we’re looking forward to what God’s gonna do in our lives. In your lives and in the lives of those who are in our country and around the world heading into 2026.

But just keep in mind, Conner said a great word here. It’s a very formative year. I think that’s the perfect way to put it. Good things and bad things. I think 2025 really help shape what culture’s gonna look like moving forward. There’s always surprises, but we saw a big shift here and so prayerfully, I hope some things change and honestly, prayerfully, I hope some things stay the same.

So let’s jump into it.

Conner Jones: Alright, let’s jump into, are we calling this the brief? I don’t know. [00:02:00] Let’s jump into the recap. The recap. There we go. The recap. The recap. Okay. Perfect.

Okay. Let’s start with our 2025 predictions. From January very first episode, we dropped these predictions. Oh, lordy. You know what Micah? I’m a little, I’m a little proud in some instances I’m a little ashamed in others. So let’s just start off. Yeah. We both predicted the Super Bowl champs right up front.

You had predicted the bills. I had predicted the lions. We were both wrong. That ended up being the

Micah Tomasella : Eagles. Yeah. Look, this, that was in, that was in February of this year. You know, so we could technically predict again who’s gonna win the Super Bowl early next year for this season. But anyway, yes, the Eagles won.

Conner and I would never pick the Eagles, even if, even if we knew we were gonna be wrong. We’re not gonna pick the Eagles to win anything whatsoever. Nope. Can’t. I hope they go, oh, in 17.

Conner Jones: Oh yeah, no kidding. Every year. Okay, then we, then we predicted the master’s champion. This is the biggest golf tournament in the world every year.

And Micah, you had predicted a good one. Scottie Scheffler. [00:03:00] Yeah. And I had predicted Rory McElroy. And guess what? Rory did it. Rory won one. He finally got his masters, so we took that one. Good for him. Yeah, good for him. And yeah, I was happy to get that one right. And then the biggest movie at the box office, we made predictions there, Micah, you had said Mission Impossible, the Final Reckoning, or Superman, you gave two answers and you still got ’em wrong.

Micah Tomasella : Oh yeah, yeah.

Conner Jones: I had predicted Avatar, fire and Ash. But as of this recording, we’re recording on. December 19th. This is Friday. That movie comes out today. So yeah, we’re not gonna know the answer to this one quite yet. I have a feeling it’s gonna get up there, but we’ll see. It’s gonna be a big one. Yeah, but just so y’all are aware, the biggest movie of the year technically was a movie called NI ZA two from China that made $2.2 billion.

It blew up over here in America too. In a sense. It was translated, but. The biggest US movie was a Minecraft, a movie, and then Zootopia two as well. Come on. So in all three animated films, the kids want to go to the movies, guys. That’s what Hollywood needs to know, [00:04:00] you know? Okay. Micah, biggest song of the year.

We were trying to predict who would have it. You said Post Malone? Yeah, I said Bruno Mars. Wow. Correct answer was Die With A Smile by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.

Micah Tomasella : But you didn’t know. He’d partner up with Lady Gaga and put out a banger like that. Goodness gracious. I’m just telling you, man. I know. Good for

Conner Jones: you.

There’s some magic touch there at brutal Bars. Good for you. I personally don’t even like his music that much, but I understand Posty.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah. I think his transition has been interesting from more r and b hip hop to. Country kind of still r and b, hip hop type of country. I think it’s been an interesting transition, but yeah, he’s all right.

Conner Jones: Okay. And then we threw out some big wild card predictions I had predicted, and this was a big thing back in January when Trump was coming into office when we were doing this. Yeah. I had predicted that the US would annex Greenland and Puerto Rico as new states completely wrong there. Just totally off base.

Actually kind of happy I was wrong. I don’t think we need them as, as states. Puerto Rico is a territory already and [00:05:00] Greenland is its own nation, so that was gonna be interesting if we went down that route. Micah, you had a good one here. You wanna tell us what your prediction was on this one?

Micah Tomasella : I mean, it was a good one.

It was a good prediction to have, but I was wrong. The prediction was that the AI investment bubble will take a hit in 2025 and it didn’t at all. If anything, it’s gained steam. It’s really been the driving force, been the foundation for why we’ve continued to have a bull market in 2025. And why, if you know, you know us with having in investments in the stock market and any of our listeners who invested in the stock market, you can think AI investments for why your portfolio looks good. This year, there were so many industries that took a hit and AI undergirded all of it. And if anything, I’m glad that it didn’t take a massive hit.

Conner Jones: Yeah. The only thing could be it’s actually building an even bigger bubble than it did back in January. I, I,

Micah Tomasella : I actually would say you, I could give me like a wild card, like another one for 2026.

I don’t think this is a bubble at all. I think this is okay. This is the wake. This is the economy now, like AI is the [00:06:00] Yeah, it’s, yeah, it might be, man, there are certain companies doing more or like doing less than we think, but there’s so many companies that you can invest in now that are focusing on different sectors within AI and what AI can do.

And so as long as the technology continues to progress, which it will and co competition does that, we’re in this big competition with China right now and so competition’s gonna continue to drive that and I think this is only gonna continue to go up. It definitely seems like the future. I don’t think there’s going back out and there and there’s pros and cons to that, but I’m just saying investment wise, it helped all of our investments in 2025.

True. Very true.

Conner Jones: Okay, those are where our predictions, we’ll come back in January. We’ll do some more predictions. Yeah, maybe we’ll add some things to that or change it up a little bit and see what we can come up with. But Michael, let’s hit on a couple little fun things from 2025. Just some little stats and tidbits that I think are interesting.

Would you like to guess what the most downloaded app in 2025 was? Chat DPT, without a doubt. You would be correct? Yeah, man, it’s gotta be the ai, just investment. Like without a doubt, [00:07:00] chatty is just up there. He’s just, he’s the most popular guy, most popular pal for everybody right now. I call him chat,

Micah Tomasella : but you know, just chat for short, you know what I mean?

He’s, I think only his mother calls him chatty.

Conner Jones: I, I don’t know, dude. I’ve been in a lot of conversations. People are like, yo, I asked chatty about this. I’m like, ah, that was definitely a Gen

Micah Tomasella : Z or Gen

Conner Jones: Alpha

Micah Tomasella : Who

Conner Jones: said that? Yeah, maybe. I mean, I’m talking about even some of our coworkers here at Dentist and Ministries.

We have Z on staff. We do. We do. Okay. Something else, this is a cool stat, interesting stat. Gallup says that Americans at 2025. Drank alcohol at the lowest level that they have since 1939. That is insane to me. It seems like a positive. I think there’s a lot of reasons for that. I’m not gonna dive into all the reasons, but isn’t that interesting, Micah?

Micah Tomasella : It’s very interesting. Let me give one good reason, one bad reason. There is a more investment in health ’cause there’s just so much at our fingertips now and knowledge is power and so people are understanding the negative. [00:08:00] Results of drinking alcohol. That’s the pro, the con. I think people are getting together less than they ever have.

True. I think there’s more isolation. I don’t think people are meeting for happy hours. I don’t think people are meeting for a drink anymore. You might not love that people go and get a drink and you might not partake in drinking. However, it is a medium to get people together and talking. So I think that that’s also a reason Isolation has led to this as well, which is the con.

Conner Jones: Yep. And there’s also been this massive uptick in non-alcoholic beer and beverages and mocktails and stuff. Yeah. So you get kind of the flavor, but not the ingredients that cause it to be alcohol. Yeah. I just think it’s interesting. It is a big cultural touchpoint. Okay. Words of the year. So let’s look back at the last two years from Words of the Year that came from like Oxford and dictionary.com and Mirror Webster.

Micah 2023. Everybody’s gonna remember this one. The word era was like the center of everything. Oh, when Taylor Swift was on her big Aris tour, Aris tour eras, everybody’s I’m in my blah blah, blah era. You know, all of that. The word, you know what I’m talking about. Every, every post on Instagram and social media was like in my whatever [00:09:00] era, and then the word Riz and AI came up in 2023.

That’s when AI became kind of like a word everybody knew, but Riz man. Yeah.

Micah Tomasella : 23. In 23, AI was kind of a thought. You know what I mean? Some people had a little bit of AI they were using, it’s way different now and then Riz. Yeah. I’m glad people aren’t saying that as much anymore.

Conner Jones: Yeah, me too. 2024, the words were brat, brain, rott, and demure, all just, you know, related to social media.

You know, that was that big word on TikTok. This year though, we talked about this one earlier in a podcast a few weeks ago. The Oxford Word of the year was rage bait. You know, we, we discussed that and what that means. Dictionary dot com’s, word of the year was 67 or six. Seven, six. That’s what would say, which I still don’t think anybody knows what that actually means.

It just, that’s the point it gets said, that’s the point. It is what it is.

And then Merrim, Webster’s word was slop. Yeah. Which I think they’re relating to ai, but I think you could also apply it to, we talked about this Netflix slop, like Netflix just produces so much bad [00:10:00] television, but so does so many other places, and

Micah Tomasella : so does ai.

It’s the Cheesecake Factory menu of options on. Yep. Things like Netflix. If you do so many things, you can’t do much in excellence. So that’s the trade off. So therefore, yeah, I was reading about, you get Slop,

Conner Jones: I was reading about the origin of the word slop and it came from in like the 18 hundreds. They would just.

Mixed together a bunch of foods to try to make something, and when it plopped down on the plate or whatever, it just, they came up with the word slop. I was thinking stuff that looked bad, what they

Micah Tomasella : fed pigs like pig slop, you know, something like that. Basically, yes, poured into the. Whatever container.

Whatever would what? A pigs out

Conner Jones: the trough eat outta the trough. A trough. The trough, yeah. Yeah.

Micah Tomasella : The trough. Sloping. The

Conner Jones: trough baby. Basically. And now that what those pigs are eating is basically what we’re just ingesting as our entertainment, right? Just on our You go our screens. Yeah. Ai slopping all that.

Okay, Michael, let’s do something fun here. Let’s rank the most [00:11:00] influential people of 20, 25. Now I wanna clarify. We both come up with our names. Mike is gonna say his, I’m gonna say mine. We’re gonna go five to one. This is not necessarily people we think are great. Correct. This is most influential. They had the biggest like impact on the world, on our country in 2025.

And we’re gonna give some honorable mentions afterwards as well. People that like they, it’s just their year. Yeah. For whatever reason, whether they’re doing bad things, good things, high achievements. Yeah, Lowe’s, we’re gonna talk about all of that. So Micah, let’s go 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and just give us our power rankings.

I would love to start with your number five.

Micah Tomasella : So I’m gonna do five and then you’re gonna do five and then, yeah, yeah, yeah. So on and so forth. Alright, so just to clarify, the rubric of this was the power rankings of the top five most influential people of 2025. The way that I would define influence is not somebody that you always hear about all the time.

Certainly that does fit this. My definition of influence is somebody who has sway, somebody who has power, somebody who changed the dynamics of [00:12:00] our culture, our country. What’s going on in the world now, but also for the future. So lemme just clarify. That was kind of my rubric for why. Oh yeah. I came up with this top five.

All right. Number five would be Jerome Powell. So he’s not. Flashy, he leads the Federal Reserve. It’s not a flashy pick, but it’s powerful because he’s still there after everything. Trump has hurled at him this year. So Trump has tried everything he can legally to remove him. He has stayed in power, but he has big influence over interest rates, inflation, housing markets, economic confidence, a lot of power in Jerome Powell’s hands.

So that’s why I picked him at number five.

Conner Jones: Yeah, I think that’s a good pick. Just one of those guys who’s kind of behind the scenes a lot of times, but his words carry a lot of weight because the economy listens. Yeah. Wall Street listens, right? We all are impacted by that. My number five is another one that you may not know super well, but it’s Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle, and the reason I’ve picked him is because man, he’s been, his hands have been in everything from Hollywood to politics [00:13:00] to just world affairs and everything.

Yeah, I would say. First and foremost, he’s just a massive Trump donor, so he has a lot of influence over Trump. He was at one point this year, the world’s wealthiest man. He took over Elon Musk for two days, a few days there back in September. He’s not that anymore. He was worth 400 billion at that point.

He’s now sitting at like 233 billion. Not a bad bag, but he’s definitely, he’s, he’s dropped back down to Earth a little bit. That’s close to half. Wow. Yeah, he’s, it goes up and down, you know, stocks. Yeah,

Micah Tomasella : yeah, yeah. But

Conner Jones: with Oracle, he’s now got his fingers in Defense Department contracts, department of Energy contracts, AI contracts with the government.

Yep. His son is trying to buy Warner Brothers with Paramount, and he’s also now a part of a group that is buying TikTok. That was actually announced this week. He’s gonna have his hands on TikTok. So a lot of influence from this guy who, a lot of people don’t know, but he’s, he’s got his hands in everything.

We’re quite influential.

Micah Tomasella : Yep. Yep. Okay, so my number four is Benjamin Netanyahu. Hmm. Who is the. [00:14:00] He’s the Prime Minister of Israel, right? That’s his title. Yeah. Pm Yep. So you’ve got Israel’s ongoing war, regional instability in the Middle East, global diplomatic fallout, keep Netanyahu at the center. Bibb, as his friends would call him, of one of the most consequential geopolitical moments in decades.

So like he’s had a lot of accusations hurled at him. People love him, people hate him, but there’s a peace deal now in place they’re trying to regulate and try to get some relations moving forward. Between Israel and Saudi Arabia and you know, him and Trump have been going at it kind of back and forth with each other all year.

So I, you know, for global stability purposes, that’s why I picked him in number four. Yeah,

Conner Jones: I agree. He is definitely up there on my list as well. Okay, number four for me was Elon Musk, just because, I mean, you say his name, everybody knows who he is. He’s got his hands in ai, obviously social media with x.

Obviously at the beginning of the year, he was one of the most powerful figures in government. Briefly. Yeah. Even though he wasn’t even like an official employee. Yeah. [00:15:00] Just everywhere. Trying to get us to space, trying to get us in ai, trying to get the government to slash funds. It is insane how much Elon Musk was involved in this year, and he’s just is and probably will be for many, many years.

One of the most influential people on earth.

Micah Tomasella : Yep. That makes sense. All right. My number three is Sam Altman. Sam Altman is. CEO and founder of Open AI and AI is no longer theoretical guys like we’ve been talking about. It’s shaping education, work warfare ethics in real time. And Altman sits at the center of that conversation and has outsized influence over where all of this AI stuff goes has influence in the White House.

But even just the fact that open AI is like going head to head. With Google in ai, with meta in ai, I mean, he’s going up against Elon in AI and kind of winning most of the time. It’s, it’s actually unbelievable kind of how he came outta nowhere and wields a [00:16:00] tremendous amount of influence in the tool that we’re starting to all use now, and we’re gonna be using more in the future.

Conner Jones: Yeah, it’s funny, my number three is also Sam Altman because you’re exactly right man. He’s just, this AI thing is huge. I don’t know if he will stay at the forefront of it forever, but this year was a big year for him. Big

Micah Tomasella : year

Conner Jones: for him became a household name and an open ai. Just grew and grew and grew.

Now they’re losing money daily. Yeah, like they have not made a profit yet. A lot of ’em are though. He’s gotta turn the ship around, but if he can, it’s gonna be huge. Okay. Alright. Mike, what was your number

Micah Tomasella : two? Yeah okay, so we had the same number three. My number two is actually. Jinping of China. The leader of the People’s Republic of China, and yeah. China’s had an economic slowdown that they tried to put a bandaid on. They’re building up their military infrastructure to potentially trade, you know, to attack and invade Taiwan. Yep. And there’s growing tension with the West, specifically Donald Trump in the US of A, which makes [00:17:00] Q1 of the most influential figures shaping global stability this year.

I would say the reason why I put ’em at number two is that whatever America is doing to stay on top, to become on top, whether if that’s with energy with ai. With modern warfare, with the fleets and the military and planes. I mean, just name it educational, like whatever it might be. I think Chi and his leadership and what China’s doing is a huge driver for everybody here in America who’s in a position of power of we can’t lose ground to them.

So that’s why I put him at number two because he’s been kind of the boogeyman, which has led to good and bad things of what we’ve been doing here in the west.

Conner Jones: Yeah. We’re in kind of this odd cold war ish state. Yeah. With China. Yep. We used to be, the Soviet Union was our biggest foe, and now it definitely feels like China is, but for sure they’re trying to build a relationship.

I know Trump and Qi are meant to meet like four times in 2026. They’re,

Micah Tomasella : yeah, they’re frenemies. You know what I mean? It’s like Right. Nobody wants war, I don’t think, but they drive each other to grow. They drive each other to, there’s [00:18:00] to be better mutual or whatever you would define as better. They drive each other to make more money.

How about that? We’ll say that. We need each other essentially to a certain extent. Yep.

Conner Jones: My number two was actually Charlie Kirk, who obviously is no longer with us. That makes, makes sense. But man, just the impact and this is gonna be more American impact. So global wise, maybe not as much, but I just think the impact that he had even before he died on US policy and the way people thought about politics and stuff, and especially in the right wing sphere to.

Even after he died, really having this postmus impact, man, what a, what a life he lived and what a legacy. He’s left and we’re actually seeing the whole of his leadership in the right wing sphere now, there seems to be like no central figure that’s tying it all together the way that he did. And there’s warring factions within the right.

I think we’re just seeing how much of an impact Charlie had in politics, but also now we’re getting to see how much of an impact he had in faith. And we’re gonna talk about that again later. But yeah, I just think number two makes, makes sense for him.

Micah Tomasella : Cannot, cannot hate on that. Pick at all, man. Rest in peace.

Charlie Kirk. [00:19:00] What an impact, what a legacy. He left.

Conner Jones: Yep. Okay. Okay, Micah, we both had the same number one, so should we say it at the same time? Yeah.

Micah Tomasella : Okay. On three. 1, 2, 3. Donald, Donald. J Trump. Trump,

Conner Jones: you didn’t know I was gonna say the J did you? DJT.

Micah Tomasella : Oh, no, I, I didn’t know when you were gonna say it. So people are tired of his name.

Yeah, but the reality is that US politics, global alliances markets, media narratives completely and utterly orbit around him. Love, himer, hate him. His gravitational pull is absolutely unmatched in 2025. He’s the most important person, not only in America. He’s the most important person in the world. And it’s clear.

It’s clear. Good, good, bad, and ugly. That’s the truth.

Conner Jones: Look, there’s some things, if you’ve listened to us all year, you know, Mike and I both have things that we like that Trump did Totally. We both have things that we don’t like. Totally. And there’s things that he’s done that match up with scripture, things he’s done that does not.

So it’s hard totally to fully judge that. But there is no denying, he’s not even just the most influential person of this year. Maybe just [00:20:00] in history, one of the top, and when you think about world history, he’s up there, man, the influence he has since

Micah Tomasella : 2016. He’s had a vice grip, and you know what? It’s just the way he likes it.

Just the way you, it’s just never been, it

Conner Jones: never been as strong as it is now. Okay. Let’s, let’s hit on some honorable mentions here, Micah, that we did not rank in our top five, but we thought were worth mentioning of other influential people. Okay. You wanna just give us some of your names?

Micah Tomasella : Yeah, I’m gonna run through mine.

Elon Musk. Vladimir Putin. Emir Zelinsky. Bob Iger. Pope Leo Shhe. Tani. And I said Luca ic. ’cause that was, that was the biggest sports story of the year probably. Pretty close when, when he got traded for a bag of beans, basically like maybe an old washing machine or something. But that, that was a gigantic story.

That’s why I threw him in there.

Conner Jones: Yeah. And then he’s gone to the Lakers and he’s just taken off. Yeah, so it, it’s been a year for him, man. My honorable mentions also, I said Bob Iger, that’s the Disney CEO. And then also Pope Leo [00:21:00] the 14th. Yeah, just coming into the Vatican there. Vladimir Zelinsky, president of Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, obviously president of Russia. Shhe Tani as well. Just probably dominating sports and making clear he is the best athlete on the planet. And then another one I said, this is kinda interesting ’cause this guy has not even been alive at all this year, but I do not think we can deny the fact that Jeffrey Epstein still is having an impact on at least American culture.

To this

Micah Tomasella : day and not in good ways, honestly, like a word for 2025. If another dictionary type website that’s looking for some like recognition, they could say the word for 25 was Epstein or Epstein files. If you could say that. Yeah, absolutely. The amount of times Americans have said Epstein individually.

Just think about it yourself. Like we’ve said Epstein a lot. I’ve definitely said it more than slop and rate bake. Yeah. Same. And six seven. Yeah. Anyway.

Conner Jones: Yeah. And even on the internet, Epstein is just everywhere. And I also wanna point out, I think his victims are part of this too. Totally. Like they’re also influential.

They’ve been so influential in getting this push to the [00:22:00] forefront of culture and getting, trying to get justice for good thanks. And we’re kind of backed up on this a little bit by Wikipedia’s top five searches. I look to see what they had published as their top five searches of 2025 on Wikipedia’s website.

It includes number five was Pope Leo the 14th. Number four was Donald Trump. Number three was Ed Gain the serial killer, which had the Netflix show come out this year. So I assume a lot of people were just like, oh wow, okay. Interested in him as a serial killer. Interesting. Number two is deaths in 2025, and the number one page visited in 2025 was Charlie Kirk’s Wikimedia page.

Yeah. Yep. Makes sense. Micah, we lost some prominent people this year, sadly. Obviously lots of people die every year, and that also includes just people who were celebrities or athletes had some sort of influence in culture and in the world. So just kinda wanna list these out. It’s kind of interesting to go back and you forget some of the people that passed away this year, but we’ll hit on some of those.

I’m gonna go backwards from December all the way to January. So as we go through this, if you’re listening, you’ll be like trying to remember, you know, and think, wow, I [00:23:00] totally forgot this person passed away. Just this week, sadly, we lost a NASCAR racer, Greg Biffle, and you and I were talking about him.

Before this incredible NASCAR racer, one of my favorites as a kid growing up, I loved watching Greg Biffle race his cars and his trucks. He died in a plane crash this week that he possibly was flying his private jet and his whole family was on there with him. Just so tragic in that way. So just wanted to mention that real fast.

But also we lost Rob Reiner in a terrible way just a couple weeks ago. Then Dick Cheney, Diane Keaton, Robert Redford, obviously Charlie Kirk. Hulk Hogan, Ozzy Osborne, Michael Madson. Pope Francis Val Kilmer. Man, I forgot we lost Val Kilmer. Mm, George Foreman, gene Hackman. That was also a bizarre story back in February, the way he passed away.

And the David Lynch, the director, and obviously that’s not everybody. Rest in peace y’all. But yeah, hard year for those families. And so if anything, we can be praying for those families and also just remember some of the great things that those people left behind as legacies in their work. [00:24:00] Totally. Micah, I’m ready for a fun part here.

Yeah. We gotta hit on the biggest flops of 2025. Yeah. And by flops we’re talking like stories or headlines that just did not go the way anybody wanted.

Micah Tomasella : Major disappointments. People being stupid, organizations being stupid. Yeah. Let’s do it. What do you have first up there? The one that seems most obvious was Karen Bass, who’s the mayor of LA when she knew of a fire risk and decided to go on her trip to Africa while her city burned to the ground.

That was, yeah. That was terrible leadership and to come back and make excuses, it just did not look good. She had people on her side of the aisle really not liking her and really haven’t forgiven her for how all that worked out. And even just the decisions made within the Californian government, but also just the city government that led to those wildfires.

Yeah, just, just a failure of leadership there. That was, that was a big flop. Lots

Conner Jones: of failures. I honestly am surprised she has not been like [00:25:00] impeached by the city, but

Micah Tomasella : she’s like talking about running for president or something. Everybody’s

Conner Jones: talking about running for president,

Micah Tomasella : but

Conner Jones: she has no

Micah Tomasella : chance, man.

And then signal Gate. Dude,

Conner Jones: that was a fun one. I mean, not really, but kind of, you know, like it was just these guys in power, like the most powerful people in government, Pete h, Pete and J Vance. Yeah. Texting war plans to bomb the Houthis just on signal, and we could accidentally adding a journalist to that who then published the messages.

Just unreal signal Gate. I just

Micah Tomasella : can alm I almost don’t believe it was on accident, but I don’t know. That just seems crazy to me, especially ’cause like you and I talked about this, this was the, the guy who heads up the Atlantic, they’re like New York Times level left, of all the media people to included it.

You know, I, I just, it’s hard to believe that was an accident somehow, some way, whether, if it was, I don’t even know what the reason would be. I can’t even come up with it, but that doesn’t feel like an accident. Something else I said just legacy media. Legacy media had another terrible year in the eyes of the public.

True, [00:26:00] no, no traction and gained trust. Trusted even less. Legacy Media is taking a huge hit. Social media news, YouTube news, independent news organizations, and people are popping up and legacy media continues to falter, so I would just say they did no damage control and made it worse for themselves in 2025.

Yeah,

Conner Jones: I fully agree with that. Another big one that kind of a flop was Doge, the Department of Government Efficiency Flop. That was totally, that was headed up by Elon Musk for a solid two months. Made a big impact, freaked a lot of people out, cut a lot of aid agencies and all of that. But then Elon left and it seems like we’ve never heard of Doge again.

Remember how big of a deal that was back in like February and March and everyone was talking about it all the time. And then Doon Musk Trump do, yeah, their bromance that they had just. Blew up and then Elon tweeted that Trump’s in the Epstein files and it just, it just went from like their best friends and buddy buddy cops like Elon standing next to him in the Oval Office every other day to they hate each other.

It was crazy.

Micah Tomasella : Public love and public hate just really [00:27:00] signifies. Oh my goodness gracious. If this ain’t 20, 25 for you, Conner, tell us about Snow White.

Conner Jones: Snow White was probably the biggest movie flop of the year. That was why I put that in here. Just massive budget. This is Disney movie, $270 million, and it only brought in $43 million in box office.

We even had a episode where we talked about why this happened, the liberal part of it, the activism part of it, what caused it to blow up, and it was just a big flop. Yep, big one. And then also, Micah, we have to just say a big flop is the Democrats shutting down the government and quite literally getting.

Nothing out of it. The government was shut down for a month and a half and they kind of like held the US population hostage in a way to extract, you know, things that they were wanting for healthcare and Obamacare, and they didn’t get a

Micah Tomasella : thing I think you could add to the flop of 2025 is all the lawmakers on both sides who made that battle about themselves.

While the American people, specifically those who worked for the government, suffered and struggled. And didn’t get paid for 43 days. I think that that was probably. The bigger flop

Conner Jones: and while they [00:28:00] got paid in Congress, just unbelievable.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah, absolutely. And then finally, you know, I added just in fighting within MAGA and the Republican party, just sticking their nose up and saying, I guess we’re just allergic to any kind of prosperity, right?

To just be like, Hey, the Republicans say Hey, we’ve got control of all three major branches of government. We’re gonna get significantly less done. I’m not saying stuff didn’t get done, but significantly less done because there’s been so much time fighting and putting out fires as opposed to just from their perspective getting done what needs to get done for the American people.

We’d say the same thing if the Democrats were in charge of all three. Absolutely. And then they were fighting within, you know, their own ranks and there has been a lot of fighting within their ranks, but they’re not in power right now. So that’s felt like a big flop to me. Yeah. Like distractions.

Conner Jones: Yeah. Big.

And the big thing was the Epstein files ripped the party apart in a way. Okay. Other bizarre stories we’re just calling it the most bizarre things that happened this year that at least that we could think of.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah.

Conner Jones: One of them, I would just say up top is the, unfortunately the Rob [00:29:00] Reiner and his wife being killed by their son, like just crazy.

That whole thing is just very sad and tragic, but also just so weird and bizarre. Yeah, I know. We’ll learn so much more about that ’cause that’s still a fresh story. But Micah, if you had said in January that. Three of these people would be arrested. I would’ve thought you were crazy. Who am I talking about?

Chauncey Billups, NBA Hall of Famer. Mark Sanchez and head coach of the Trailblazer we’re back. Fox Sports

Micah Tomasella : contributor.

Conner Jones: Yeah, Mark Sanchez and then Sharon Moore, head coach of the Michigan football team. All three of these guys, huge in sports world, arrested for bizarre things. Chauncey Billups being caught up in illegal poker games with the mafia.

Mark Sanchez stabbing a man in Indianapolis after everybody thought that he was the one who got attacked. It was apparently him who did the attack. And then Sharon Moore getting arrested for threatening the life of a female staffer that he was apparently having an affair with. Just golly crazy. So bizarre.

Crazy stories. Bizarre. Yep. All right, Mike, [00:30:00] it’s time. Let’s discuss our biggest stories of 2025. And we’re gonna do this through different sections we’re we kind of got it broken down into different categories that speak to culture. So let’s just start up top with kind of the lighter thing. So start with fashion.

I would say maybe you agree with me the biggest story in fashion, and we’re not fashionistas, so this is just kind of what we know, right? Things that bled

Micah Tomasella : out of the fashion world, like what story bled out of that into the general. Population. ’cause that’s why we would pay attention to it, right?

Conner Jones: Yeah. I’m, I’m, you, you don’t find me reading like the Vanity Fair Magazine.

Pieces don’t lie. Fashion don’t lie, don’t lie. Okay. I won’t. I would say the biggest story was American Eagle and the Sydney Sweeney Jeans campaign that they had that just took over the world by storm in July, August. And everybody was upset, or they were happy for what I say for three

Micah Tomasella : weeks. It was like the biggest story.

Yeah. Definitely. That makes sense. Okay. Here’s

Conner Jones: what we can say. American Eagle made a lot of money during that time, and they no doubt, ended up this year in the green and

Micah Tomasella : nobody apologized for anything. Nope. No. Sydney Sweeney, [00:31:00] not American Eagle. Nobody apologized for a darn thing.

Conner Jones: Nope. They just made money yep.

Good for them. I guess this could have been in the flop range, but this food story. Yeah, this is the food category. We gotta go with Cracker Barrels rebranding disaster. Terrible. Yeah. That did not go well. They’re gonna teach that one the business schools for a long time. Marketing, advertising pop.

Yeah, totally. Marketing. Yeah. It literally every leadership, everything, just the whole thing was a disaster. What not to do. Yeah. They literally reverted back to what they just currently are. It was one big, expensive disaster. Okay. Let’s talk about pop culture. I think one of the big things that happened this year for a lot of people was Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey got engaged.

That does not really impact any of our lives individually, but. People are happy about it. They like Travis, they like Taylor, obviously. Another big one, Jimmy Kimmel. Remember he got suspended a few months ago and that was like a huge deal ’cause of what he said about Charlie Kirk after Charlie was killed and all of that.

Yeah, that was crazy. Yep. I felt like that was a big one. Netflix buying Warner Brothers, if you’re curious about that. We [00:32:00] dedicated a whole episode of that at the beginning of December. I would highly suggest listening to that episode ’cause we just broke down what that’s gonna mean for culture and entertainment.

Micah Tomasella : It’s still not done yet. We’ll see. But it’s looking like it’s moving in that direction. But there’s a lot of hurdles still to jump through.

Conner Jones: Definitely. Definitely. Okay, Micah, we’re gonna go through ID B’S five most popular TV shows of 2025 that we’re gonna give our own. And so here’s what IMDB said was so popular.

This is based off their page views, just so you are aware, like here’s what got the most traction on their website app. White Lotus, the last of us, severance Wednesday and Squid Game. Most watched show of the year was Squid Game season three. None of that surprising to me. Those were all very big popular shows.

But Mike, I’m curious, what was your favorite show of the year?

Micah Tomasella : Before I answer that, which of these did you watch?

Conner Jones: You a severance

Micah Tomasella : guy, right? I love Severance, dude.

Conner Jones: Yeah, that was almost my best show of the year. I love Severance. Actually, I have not seen Wednesday. Have you seen Wednesday?

Micah Tomasella : No. That’s on Netflix, right?

Did you watch the second season of Last of Us? [00:33:00] I did not. Good. Is it worth it? Nope. Okay. See, that’s what I was thinking. That’s what I was hearing. That’s what I was thinking. Okay. So my favorite show of the year, honestly, I’ll say was Psych, which

Conner Jones: is an old show that’s not even, that’s not even this year from USA

Micah Tomasella : Network.

But that was probably what my wife and I watched the most of. And then secondly, I’d probably say my favorite show of the year that came out this year that had episodes was Tulsa King. Okay. On paramount. It’s a Taylor Sheridan show where Sylvester Stallone is, this New York crime family. Mobster moves town to Tulsa, Oklahoma creates his own crime empire, but kind of has a good heart.

And then the last several episodes, Samuel L. Jackson was in it. And so you just see Samuel L. Jackson and Sylvester Stallone just tearing it up. Dude, I loved every second of it. I

Conner Jones: had no idea Jackson came into that show. Wow. Yeah. I’m not surprised. But you’re a big Sheridan guy.

Micah Tomasella : I am.

Conner Jones: Mike.

Micah Tomasella : I am. ‘Cause it’s just, it’s, I mean, I’m not saying it’s real, but it’s just fits more of what real life is and they put you at like in an environment, no matter how gritty it might be, [00:34:00] it just feels more realistic than what a lot of, I’d say Hollywood puts out.

I

Conner Jones: mean, the whole country is watching Billy Bob Thornton driving a truck just through West Texas Landman two, because it’s, yeah. Yeah. You know, I mean, land Man Two

Micah Tomasella : is really popular. Yeah. Yeah.

Conner Jones: My favorite show of the year was The Pit. If you’re talking about Just Real, that is the best show of the year if you want Realism and Realisticness and just on Max, on HBO, max, yeah.

HBO. Just incredible hospital show. I would highly recommend that one. Most popular movies of the year, according to IMDB, Micah, was Superman. Weapons Sinners, one battle after another in Jurassic World Rebirth. Did you see any of these films? No. Okay. Did you End of discussion. I saw all of them, but hoping I didn’t see any of of them.

No. No. You didn’t even see Superman. Oh, you guys see Superman?

Micah Tomasella : No. No. I, I, maybe I’ll see ’em. I don’t know. I mean, if, if, if they’re coming out in theaters first, maybe I’ll stream it later.

Conner Jones: That’s why I think all of them are pretty much on streaming at this point. So you got your opportunity. What was your, I guess I’m not gonna watch ’em.

No, I’m saying they are on streaming.

Micah Tomasella : No, no, no. And And then I’m saying, oh, like they’re already out on streaming and I haven’t watched them yet. I guess I’m not [00:35:00] gonna watch ’em. Oh,

Conner Jones: okay. I gotcha. I gotcha. Okay, gotcha. Then, what was your favorite movie of the year? Did you even watch? My favorite movie

Micah Tomasella : was a movie I watched a couple weeks ago called Wake Up Dead Man, A Knives Out Mystery on Netflix, the Knives Out Series with Daniel Craig Al Blanc.

I love those mystery type shows. My wife and I love watching those, and it was. An awesome movie. And it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. So that’s my number one movie of 25.

Conner Jones: I’m glad you said that ’cause I’m literally planning to watch that one tonight ’cause it’s on Netflix. Netflix, oh, it’s so good.

Oh, it’s so good. Yeah. I’ve heard good things. I did not enjoy the second Knives Out movie. I thought it was terrible. I did not My favorite movie.

Micah Tomasella : I did not either. This is

Conner Jones: better. That’s what I’ve heard. Yep. My favorite movie of the year was F1. Oddly enough, like it’s just a fun just racing movie. It’s like Top Gun but in a F1 car.

Just fun. Go watch that one. Sports stories. Micah, what would you say was the biggest sports

Micah Tomasella : story of the year? Lemme go ahead and warn everybody that some of the shows and movies that we mentioned are not always for kids, so just keep that mind. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. True. [00:36:00] Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know? Yeah.

Okay. Sports stories. So we had the Luka Donit trade, which I already mentioned for the Mavs. Shipped Luca Don, a generational talent that wanted to be in Dallas for his entire career, over to the hated Lakers, and got basically almost nothing in return. However, we’d ended up getting Cooper flagged. It’s a different story and he’s playing out of his mind right now, but that was through draft.

Rory McElroy finally wins the Masters. That was a huge story. That was his biggest win by far in 2025. Scottie Scheffler still one player of the year and had a better overall year, but this is the last major that Rory needed to win, to actually have all of them. And so good for Rory. I, I think he’s kind of a controversial guy, kind of comes off like a baby sometimes.

Even, even to me I don’t, I’m happy for him, but I, I don’t love his personality if I’m being honest.

Conner Jones: Yeah, same. But this was a big moment for him when he hit the ground just after winning the masters. Yeah. And just cried. It was powerful. Yeah. I would say also in the golf world, this is just big for faith in general.

Scottie Scheffler is the world’s [00:37:00] best golfer. Yeah. And he was very clear that success in being number one in winning championships and winning tournaments is not what brings happiness. Yeah. He finds joy in his faith and in his family. It’s just really cool to hear him be so vulnerable and honest about it.

I would also say another big story was just the NBA betting scandal. This is what took Chauncey Billups down, but just having rigged players in the games and then poker games tied to that with NBA players just bad look on the league, I think.

Micah Tomasella : I think it’s also just a bigger, a bigger story of, as these leagues and players get more intertwined with sports betting and gambling, we’re gonna keep seeing stories like this.

That’s a big story for sports in 25 is you’ve got leagues and teams being large benefactors of gambling companies. Of shady characters, right? Like this is, this is not gonna get better before it gets worse. I mean, it’s just, it’s, it’s not gonna be good.

Conner Jones: No. And just the all around destruction of sports, gambling, getting intertwined and culture everywhere.

Then I would also say just the Dodgers winning World Series in that insane game seven. Like what a, what a series. And then the chief [00:38:00] also, yeah, the chiefs losing their dynasty. That’s a big deal in the NFL world and just sports world all around. ’cause they’ve been the center 11 years

Micah Tomasella : in a row making the playoffs.

Conner Jones: Being in the A FFC championship, like how many years in a row? I just like unbelievable them not being at the center of the NFL. Going to the postseason is a big deal. Okay. Micah Travel. I would say there’s two things here. One take when the government shut down, it just dismantled air traffic control for several weeks and we were on the verge of like air traffic control being.

Totally decimated for Thanksgiving travel. Thankfully it wasn’t. I think it was a big deal and what that did to travel and already the air traffic control shortages we have and we just had crashes throughout the year. Yeah, and that doesn’t typically happen. We don’t get lots of plane crashes in America.

First, a passenger crash. Since, I think 2009 in America was over the Potomac at the beginning of the year where 64 people, unfortunately were killed on an American Eagle flight, and then three military crew members of the helicopter that collided with them. Two days later, there’s a Mexican Learjet that crashed into a block in Philadelphia.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah, that was crazy. Weekend Air

Conner Jones: India.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah,

Conner Jones: air India had a massive crash in India. That was the biggest one of the year that [00:39:00] killed 242 people on board and then 19 people on the ground. And then a few weeks ago we had the UPS plane that crashed into buildings in Louisville. Kentucky that killed 11 people on the ground and the three crew members on board just sat.

And then of course, even the great Biffle thing we just talked about a minute ago where his plane crashed. Just a weird year in aviation. It’s not, not typically like this. Yeah,

Micah Tomasella : it definitely was a tough year in that regard. Let’s do a couple nature stories. So the LA wildfires, we already mentioned 31 deaths, more than 50,000 acres, 16,000 homes and businesses were destroyed.

And that was just terrible in terms of nature, but also just. A complete and utter failure of government leadership to prepare for that. And also just some issues in putting the fire out and how that even got political. It was weird. And then, you know, this one hit really close to home. You know, for those who are in Texas, the Texas Hill country floods, you can almost forget that even happens sometimes because of everything that happens.

But that was, I mean, I think emotionally wise, I think the Texas Hill Country floods and the Charlie Kirk things were like very similar for me this year. Those hit me [00:40:00] very hard, had me. Questioning and processing through a lot with God. When it came to those stories, we lost 135 people, many of them young girls at a Christian camp, and a lot of them were children.

Just, just a terrible failure to plan as well in Texas with alert systems and people in leadership and the way the cabins were placed. Terrible, terrible tragedy. Just awful.

Conner Jones: Yeah. Both things were so heavy. Yeah, and we continue to pray for those people and the.

I think there’s one big clear winner here, and it’s just AI has, as we’ve already talked about, AI is just the center of the tech world and it kind of become the center of the economic world. It just has become central to life in America now. I think coming into this year, there were questions, and I think at the end of the year it’s like, Nope, AI is it.

This is, this is the future. And I don’t think there’s any arguing that. Another thing I would say is that TikTok is still around too. And it’s, it’s kind of getting bought 50% by US companies, but China’s still gonna have their hands in it. So I know [00:41:00] a weird deal there. But do you remember when we literally did like a eulogy for TikTok back in January?

’cause it was about to die and it’s still here. Lives on, I think I sang. Yeah man. I think you did some Sarah MCL Yus

Micah Tomasella : of the Angel Fly away.

Conner Jones: Keep going. Thank you for, for that. Even though it continues to live, it never even died. Tiktoks. I know, I know. I would also wanna point out what do we think the most viral moment of 2025 was? I think there’s no doubt it was the astronomer, CEO Canoodling with his HR director at the Coldplay concert. That became just the meme of the year, the biggest thing of the year.

Massive story. Did you just say

Micah Tomasella : canoodling?

Conner Jones: Yeah. I don’t know why that just came to mind. Is that even a word? Love that.

Micah Tomasella : No, I think, I think that’s the right word. I said it better myself, bud.

Conner Jones: Could there have possibly been a more viral moment? I don’t think so. Was the, no, there was not. That was it this year.

Okay. Biggest global headlines, Micah? [00:42:00] I think. Israel, Hamas, right? Yeah. Just the deal that was made there. The war seems to have finally come to a close. We don’t know about reconstruction in Gaza, but that has to be just one of the biggest things that’s been such a cultural touch point. So many deaths, so much destruction.

Micah Tomasella : But you know, that agreement’s entering into the second phase. It’s faded from the headlines, a little bit terrible, terrible tragedy in so many ways, how it all started, how it ended. But then I would say that the next global headline that was huge was when Trump and the US decided to bomb the nuclear sites in Iran, and I think that was a precursor for the Israel Hamas deal happening.

When Hamas loses its largest backer, at least in some way, and they get hampered, I think that’s what allowed this peace deal to take place. So actually. Kudos to America’s leadership on this one. Actually, we’ll just go and say that. I think it was a good, yeah, I would say so. I think, I think it didn’t cause the blowback that we were all concerned it would.

Conner Jones: Yeah. No, that, that one is still crazy to me. I think people forget that that even happened, but we literally sent B two steal bombers across the world, bombed. I ran, got out of the [00:43:00] country, and it was just like. Whoa. Yeah. All of a sudden you realize America is the military might in the world, which is kind of s All right.

Absolutely, absolutely. Politics. Let’s end here with politics and then we’ll give our overall biggest story of the year after this. But Micah, I think in politics, everything revolves really just around Donald Trump this year, as we’ve already discussed, he’s probably the most influential person on the planet, and when he came into the office.

In January, everything just shifted. It all started to change. We’ve seen a lot of policies enacted. The border was shut down, immigration’s been cracked down on tariffs. You’ve talked so much about tariffs. How many times have we done tariff corner with Micah this year, or tariff talk,

Micah Tomasella : I think is what you called it.

It’s been, it’s been probably one of my top five words of the year. I mean, it’s just so intricate in how tariffs have impacted the global economy, how it’s been worse than people thought, but mostly better than people thought, but hasn’t necessarily yielded everything that Trump said it would yield to.

So it’s been it’s been up and down with those for sure. You know, we’ve also had a lot of [00:44:00] peace deals internationally too. Yeah, I would say Trump did accomplish. A lot of the things he said he would, some of the things, I think this was also a year of Trump just being Trump. Trump being able to not get out of his own way.

You and I have talked about this a lot, not being able to stay on point, not being able to stay on message, making it about things that he shouldn’t. Being petty just, he just can’t not be himself for better or for worse. And there were just some better moments, but also a lot of worse moments too. Would you agree?

Yeah.

Conner Jones: I absolutely agree. He, he is, I think, his own worst enemy. There’s things he could be doing and then he steps on own toes. So he’s an enigma. It’s part of it.

Micah Tomasella : He’s an absolute, absolute enigma word. There’s nothing or no one that I can compare him to. Great word for him, because it’s not necessarily

Conner Jones: negative, it’s not necessarily positive, it’s just like he’s certainly an enigma.

He’s unique. Other big stories would be obviously the government shut down, as we’ve discussed. Yeah, that was just a big deal. I would say the rise of Zoran Mohamani as the now Mayor Elect, he’s about to become mayor, I think on January 1st of New York City as a [00:45:00] socialist, as a Muslim, which is a big deal

Micah Tomasella : for New York, an unashamed socialist, you know, like not hiding it.

Leaning into it and winning. That is a big story. Unbelievable. We’ll see how that pans out in 2026. The

Conner Jones: other thing, obviously, as we’ve discussed, is just at the Center of Politics this year was the Epstein files. It really drove a lot of stuff. Drove Congress, drove specific Congress people to turn on Trump.

Yeah, it kind of gave them leverage. Just such a big, big story, and we’re hoping to get those files soon. They’re supposed to come out, I think today as we are recording this on December 19th. Oh my goodness. Yes. Today’s a deadline. Yeah, you’re right. So by the time, by the time y’all are listening to this, we might have some answers.

I don’t know that we’ll know anything more. I don’t know that. We will, but maybe we’ll have some sort of insights on what was going on with him. I dunno. I just don’t

Micah Tomasella : think it’s gonna give us all the answers we’re yearning for. No, I think, I think everybody just loves a mystery. We’ll see. We’ll see. Yep.

Maybe I’m wrong.

Conner Jones: Alright, Micah. Overall biggest story of the year. This is not just relegated to one subsection of culture. This was the biggest cultural story, [00:46:00] biggest thing that happened this year, I think we both agreed with on this one. Immediately we knew what this was. You wanna tell us what it was?

Micah Tomasella : Yeah I mean, it was the Charlie Kirk assassination. I mean, it really wasn’t even close. It was a, it was a moment that really changed everything in terms of the way that we viewed politics, the way that we viewed our tribes, the way that we viewed our. Our faith. I think especially from a Christian perspective, this was just a big moment and I think like an American perspective for Unity’s sake, for the lack of unity’s sake.

I think it revealed a lot of issues within our country too. It’s really sad because you’re right, it was just one man. I mean, we lost so many other people and we’ve been through a lot of that, but I think this story encapsulated where we are as a country. What’s worth fighting for, what needs to change, what doesn’t need to change?

But you know, you and I talk a lot about revival. We work for a ministry that’s been working diligently to be a part of a revival happening within our country. This has given fuel to the fire and laid the framework for revival really taking place here in our [00:47:00] country. And I pray and hope that that’s what comes out of it.

Not more division, not more people hating each other, but that more people would repent and turn to Jesus because of this.

Conner Jones: Yeah, I really think it caused a lot of people to stop and say, oh my gosh. We were always headed towards something catastrophic with the way people talk to each other and the way they perceive each other as enemies with their words, and that’s what happened.

This was just a disaster in a sense of this was a man who just liked to speak his opinions and debate people, and it led to him being killed. Now, some people would say his words were harmful, but I, here I am to say that doesn’t always matter. Words. They’re not the same thing as actions. He was not ever really harming somebody physically or anything like that, and then he got physically harmed himself for just debating people.

Now I, you may not agree with everything he said, and that’s totally fine. I think a lot of people did it, but it never should have warranted what came about. So really sad. Killed, and you’re right. But I think it caused a lot of people to, to really reflect on that and think, okay, we gotta be better about debate and all that, and rhetoric.

But as you’re saying, I think one of the most important things of this is just the sense of [00:48:00] revival that came out of it. So many people recognizing that what Charlie preached was kind of true in terms of faith, and they were. Very interested in learning more about that. We saw a surge in attendance, particularly of young people at church.

We saw a surge in interest in Turning Point USA, chapters on school campuses. 50,000 plus chapter applications went in. Just an insane legacy that he kind of left. It’s really unique and I think we can take all of that. And say, you know, something tragic did happen, but God can also redeem anything that he allows.

That’s one thing that Dr. Jim Denison always says, founder here at Denison Ministries, God can redeem anything he allows. And I think that’s something we can take into just 2026 too. And so as we end this episode, Mike, I’d love for us both to just share what did God teach us this year? What did we learn as we went through this podcast?

What did we learn in faith as and through church and through our own time with the Lord and. What can we take into 2026? So I’ll just start off here and then I’ll hand it off to you to, to kind of discuss your, [00:49:00] your own faith journey this year. But yeah, I just feel like diving into all of these massive stories this year, you know, everything from the good to the bad from January to December really force my myself to take like a deeper look at scriptures and figure out how to apply them to the things that are going on in this world.

Like it’s, it’s one thing to say you live. Christ and live in a faithful way in your daily life, but to actually take scripture and apply that is really, in a way, it’s a challenge, but in another way it’s really a sweet thing to do. It’s a very. Powerful thing to take God’s word and apply it to everyday happenings.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah.

Conner Jones: I just think it’s cool to see how the Lord he’ll open up our eyes and our heart to truths in his ways and in ways you could never have expected through news stories or headlines or even pop culture stuff. And for something specific. I really do. I feel like one of the verses we probably mentioned the most was John 10.

10, you know, the thief comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. Yeah. It’s kind of a frightening verse in that sense. Yeah. But you know. [00:50:00] It’s very true. We see that in the world. We see that in so many of the stories we just discussed, like the the enemy is here and he was lurking and he was seeking out death and destruction, and he did that.

He’ll be doing the same thing in 2026. He’s gonna continue doing it now. That sounds very negative. The positive part is the second part of verse John 10 10. It’s Jesus talking and he says, I have come that they may have life and have it to the fool.

Micah Tomasella : Amen.

Conner Jones: That’s. The powerful part of that. I mean, the whole verse is just powerful, but just the, if you only focus on the beginning part, you, you’ll be very negative and you’ll think that the world is the worst.

And in a way, the enemy makes it terrible. But then Jesus says, but I’m here. Yeah, I’ve come that you may have life and live it in abundance. And Romans 12, nine and 10 says, let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil. Hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection, outdo one another and showing honor.

And so he gives us that playbook. Yeah. Of how do we. Be a light in such a dark world. I think we can take that. I think we’ve, we’ve tried to do that, you know, this year going through all of these stories [00:51:00] and I hope you guys as listeners have been able to do the same thing, go be a light in a dark world.

That’s what we’re called to do and I, I just love that God has laid that out for us. That is one thing, Conner, that’s I’ve learned this year and going into next year. I hope we can continue to do.

Micah Tomasella : Yeah, absolutely. I think in order to be a light and like that old kid song, like hiding it or a bushel, no, I’m gonna let it, you know, I’m gonna let it shine.

I think in order to do that, I think. You’ve gotta be spirit empowered, but you’ve also. You can’t bury your head in the sand. You gotta be able to be in the world and not of it. You gotta be able to approach culture, live amongst culture, live with your neighbors, live with your friends, make friends and talk to people who you don’t necessarily deal with and or want to deal with.

And that comes with trusting God, but also just being confident. Hey, like I, I know what’s going on in the world. And so we just hope that we were able to be a part of that for you guys in 25. And we’re even more resolute in what that looks like in 2026. We’re even more motivated to be able to do that. I think for me personally, real quick, in 2025.

I had a goal with my wife, her and I set goals for ourselves and for our families, but [00:52:00] I just wanted to be even more present with God and with others this year, and I really believe that I did exactly that, and I’m really grateful that God empowered me to do that to so many beautiful moments with my family.

And there was a part of this, the reason why I’m saying this is. You know, Carter and I consume a lot of news to be able to understand. We read a lot of different perspectives to be able to really present to you guys what’s going on. Like we actually know what we’re talking about, right? Like we wanted to study to show ourself approved.

So I was pushed in ways to do that more than I ever have before in 2025. And when I was doing that, it was forcing me to, at the right time. Shut the brain off, compartmentalize, say a prayer, God, you’ve got this. I can’t do anything about that global conflict. I can’t do anything about that economic issue, about that plane crash.

About that murder. God, I trust you. And then I went and I just spent time with my family. I went and I spent time with God. I went and I enjoyed the beautiful moments that God had for me in 2025. As Dave Ramsey always says, what happens in your house is more important than what happens in the White House.

I love that quote. I think it’s really [00:53:00] important. And then in 2026. I am so resolute on this, and you guys have been hearing me beat this drum for a lot. Conner’s heard this over the years, but also just our loyal audience has heard me say this a lot in the consumption of my news and studying data and all these polls and how people are feeling, stop letting.

Exterior problems dictate your destiny. Stop believing that systems are out to get you. That groups of people are out to get you. That the economy is so bad that I might as well just not try. No. Get up. Say a prayer. Ask God to lead you and guide your steps. Pray throughout the day and then work your tail off.

I think you’re gonna have a really good 2026. I think if we stop making excuses, I think 2026 should be the year of no more excuses. With God’s help, I’m gonna take control of my life and stop letting other people tell me that I can’t, or other people tell me that it’s so bad. I’m gonna take control with God’s help, like I said, and make a better future.

And I think that we could all learn from that, and I think that we should [00:54:00] encourage people around us to have that same attitude.

Conner Jones: That’s a good attitude to have for sure. Especially going into a new year. You sounded like a motivational speaker right there. I appreciate that. But

Micah Tomasella : again, it comes from what we study, Conner.

Yeah. There’s just a lot of people and organizations out there trying to scare people and make them feel like it’s so bad that it’s not even worth trying. You’re gonna guarantee failure if you don’t try.

Conner Jones: Yep. One thing, the news. Just all these websites or, or apps or whatever really rely on is kind like we said, rage bait to an extent.

But yeah, driving fear, ’cause that drives clicks, that drives viewership. So remember that remember that there are so many positive things happening in the world that you just don’t see in the news, you don’t see reported, you don’t see on social media. ’cause people like to, to produce fear. And I think you’re right, Micah, have that mindset.

Be able to unplug and just go focus on your friends and your family and your faith. And go do things and have fun. And that’s something yeah, we have to do too. We have to remind ourselves sometimes ’cause it can be. God’s got this. It’s hard to look at this stuff, but God’s got everything. God’s got this.

Micah Tomasella : Hebrews [00:55:00] 13, eight, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So then therefore, no matter what exterior things are going on, I can trust and my head can hit the pillow at night knowing that God is in control. Mm. And that’s the Christian difference, brother. That’s, yeah. That’s one of the many ways that following Jesus changes everything is understanding that there’s a God, God of the universe that created you, gifted you specifically, and has a plan for your life.

It’s time to grab hold of it.

2 Of The Most Prominent Buzzwords For The U.S. Economy In 2025 Were “Affordability” And “Layoffs” | The Economic Collapse

If you are having a really difficult time keeping up with the rapidly rising cost of living, you are certainly not alone.  This year, “affordability” was a buzzword that was constantly on the lips of politicians, economists and talking heads on television.  As you will see below, Americans are being slammed by rising prices from a multitude of directions.  Meanwhile, “layoffs” has been another buzzword that has been widely used in 2025.  Thanks to the rise of AI and our steadily deteriorating economy, we have seen far more mass layoffs this year than we did last year.  Unfortunately, one survey has found that executives are gearing up for an even larger round in 2026.

This is what happens when you flood the system with money and you go into unprecedented amounts of debt.

Eventually a day of reckoning arrives.

Ever since the Great Recession, our leaders have been pursuing highly inflationary policies, and now the American people “are yelling about affordability”

Affordability has been a source of household frustration and a key focus of political discourse in recent months, as prices for everyday goods and services continue to rise.

“People are yelling about affordability,” said Martha Gimbel, executive director and co-founder of the Budget Lab at Yale University. “I think it’s very obviously become a political flash point,” she said.

It wasn’t a foregone conclusion that things would turn out this way.

If we had made different choices, we would have gotten different results.

But we can’t go back and change the past now.  At this point, things are so bad that “affordability” has become the number one concern for U.S. voters…

A University of Michigan poll published in December shows that high prices remain a pain point for consumers. About 46% blame high prices for poor personal finances — among the highest shares since the series started in the late 1970s.

Consumers’ views of their current financial situation in December “collapsed” into negative territory for the first time since July 2022, the month after pandemic-era inflation had peaked, according to a poll published Tuesday by the Conference Board.

Overall, 65% of U.S. households say the cost of living has gotten worse or much worse in the past year, according to a recent Politico poll.

Healthcare costs have risen particularly rapidly.

One 62-year-old man that was recently interviewed by Business Insider openly admitted that he cannot afford to get sick, but he can’t afford to be healthy either…

David Deal’s 2026 outlook is what he describes as a “whack-a-mole of worry.” While he’s 62 and presumably approaching retirement, 65 is “just a number” for him, not a milestone marker for throwing in the towel on his career like his parents’ generation. The thing that really has him wound up, though, is healthcare, which he calls a “DEFCON 1” situation. Deal, a marketing consultant who lives in the Chicago suburbs, and his wife pay for their own insurance, and their premiums are going up by 25% next year. He’s worried one slip on the ice this winter could mean financial disaster. A family member’s recent two-hour trip to the ER cost them thousands of dollars, even with insurance, and the episode has him spooked.

“For me, it’s the double-whammy of skyrocketing premiums and also the skyrocketing costs of actually getting care,” he says. “We are literally at a point where we can’t afford to be sick, and we can’t afford to be healthy.”

He emphasizes that he means a collective “we” — he knows he’s far from alone in his predicament.

Health insurance premiums are set to rise even higher in 2026, and many Americans are cancelling their policies as a result.

When you don’t have health insurance, you just pray that you don’t get sick.

If you do get sick, it can be a financial disaster.

Meanwhile, one recent survey discovered that 75 percent of Americans have “reduced spending in other areas” just so that they can afford to pay for their groceries…

But whatever their preferences, many shoppers still fretted about how to pay for their groceries. More than 2 in 3 respondents (67.6%) said that they’re struggling to pay grocery bills because of inflation and rising food prices, according to a survey by Swiftly, which provides digital and media solutions for brick-and-mortar supermarkets.

More than 3 out of 4 (75.2%) responded that they’ve reduced spending in other areas to afford groceries, and in a follow-up question selected what areas they’ve cut spending in the most to pay grocery bills, with entertainment spending the most likely to be cut, followed by spending on travel, clothing, and going out to eat or drink.

Government bureaucrats keep telling us that food prices are not going up very quickly.

But everyone can see that they are wrong.

And going out to eat has become a luxury that most of the population simply cannot afford on a regular basis.  As a result, restaurants are closing down at a staggering pace

New data shows that 2025 was a record year for restaurant closures in the District.

The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) reports 92 restaurants closed their doors this year, compared to 73 closures in 2024 and 48 in 2022.

Purchasing a new vehicle has also become a luxury that most of the population simply cannot afford any longer.

Since the early days of the pandemic, the average price of a new vehicle has gone from less than $38,000 to more than $50,000

Americans are shelling out record car payments — and now some are signing up for loans stretching nearly a decade to get a new set of wheels.

The average monthly payment for a new car hit about $760 in November, according to industry-research firm J.D. Power, after the typical new-vehicle price surged past the $50,000 mark this fall — up from less than $38,000 in early 2020.

With sticker shock everywhere, buyers are leaning hard on longer financing to keep payments from exploding — even if that means paying far more interest over time.

Some dealers are now stretching out vehicle payments for 100 months so that people can actually afford them.

To me, that is absolutely insane.

But this is the economic system that we live in now.

It is designed to get us into as much debt as possible, and at this stage U.S. households are a whopping 18.6 trillion dollars in debt

The Federal Reserve signaled a higher bar for 2026 interest rate cuts at its December meeting, potentially snatching away a much-needed reprieve for millions of Americans saddled with debt.

Household debt ballooned to a record $18.6 trillion during the third quarter of 2025, and the central bank is expected to lower its benchmark rate just once or twice next year to soften borrowing costs.

Americans have never been more overextended than they are right now.

It was another record year for credit card debt during the holiday season, but vast numbers of our fellow citizens are still paying off credit card debt from Christmas 2024.

Getting deep into debt in this very challenging economic environment is very foolish, because most people do not have jobs that are secure.

In fact, job security is now the number two concern for U.S. voters…

Job security rose to workers’ second-most pressing concern this year, after covering their monthly expenses, according to a new survey by Mercer.

While “covering monthly expenses” had been the leading concern for the past three annual surveys, fears around job loss jumped from seventh place in 2023 to second place in 2025, where it was tied with being able to retire and work-life balance. Mercer did not conduct this survey in 2024.

Throughout this year, I have documented so many of the mass layoffs that have been occurring all over the nation.

For example, Tyson Foods has announced that a beef processing facility in Lexington, Nebraska will be shut down permanently next month, and that means that approximately 3,200 workers will be losing their jobs.

A reporter that visited Lexington discovered that fear of what those layoffs would mean had gripped the entire area

On a frigid day after Mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in rural Nebraska, worshipers shuffled into the basement and sat on folding chairs, their faces barely masking the fear gripping their town.

There are only about 11,000 people living in Lexington, and so these layoffs have the potential to turn it into a ghost town

“Suddenly they tell us that there’s no more work. Your world closes in on you,” Alejandra Gutierrez said

She and the others work at Tyson Foods’ beef plant and are among the 3,200 people who will lose their jobs when Lexington’s biggest employer closes the plant next month after more than two decades of operation.

Hundreds of families may be forced to pack up and leave the town of 11,000, heading east to Omaha or Iowa, or south to the meatpacking towns of Kansas or beyond, causing spinoff layoffs in Lexington’s restaurants, barbershops, grocers, convenience stores and taco trucks.

There are so many other examples that I could share with you.

In Michigan, the closure of a facility in Detroit will mean that more than a thousand General Motors employees will be out of work starting on January 5th

According to WARN Act notices filed in November, 1,140 General Motors employees will be let go from the company’s Factory Zero site in Detroit, Michigan on January 5.

In a filing with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, General Motors said the cuts would be permanent, affect several roles, and stemmed from adjustments related to the slower-than-expected adoption of electric vehicles.

Sadly, this is just the beginning.

According to one recent survey, over one-third of all large companies intend to slash their payrolls during the months ahead

In November, executive search firm Spencer Stuart asked 90 chief marketing officers how aggressively they plan to use AI to shrink payrolls, the Wall Street Journal reported.

More than one in three executives said that they expect to hand out pink slips in the next 12 to 24 months as they deploy more computer agents.

The trend is even worse among bigger companies.

Nearly half the executives at firms worth more than $20 billion said they’re planning significant job cuts.

If this survey is accurate, we could see millions of layoffs over the next couple of years.

Just think about that.

We were warned that this was going to happen.

Now it is playing out right in front of our eyes.

And survey after survey is indicating that the American people are quite gloomy about where economic conditions are heading next…

Americans are ending 2025 significantly more pessimistic about the direction of their financial situations than they were at the start of the year, according to the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment gauge from early December. Its reading on personal finance expectations is 12% below where it was at the beginning of the year. A November consumer survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York similarly found that people are increasingly gloomy about their current and future finances, and their expectations for increased medical care costs are at their highest levels since January 2014.

If you understand what is happening, that will help you to make better decisions.

When conditions get tough, those that are wise tighten things up.

Sadly, most of the population continues to party as if tomorrow will never come, but no matter how hard one may try it is impossible to stop the inexorable march of time.

Many Unemployed Americans Are Applying For 100s Of Jobs With No Success As The Unemployment Rate Surges To A 4 Year High | The Economic Collapse

Frustrated job seekers all over America just got more bad news.  The unemployment rate just hit the highest level that we have seen in four years, and that is yet another indication that the labor market is getting even tighter.  If you currently have a good job that you highly value, hold on to it, because finding a replacement for that job would not be easy in this very challenging economic environment.  In previous articles, I have shared heartbreaking stories from unemployed Americans that have been unable to find work no matter how hard they have tried.  I am going to share more of those stories today.  When you are unemployed and month after month goes by without finding a job, it can really do a number on your self-esteem.  If you have ever been through a stretch like that, you know exactly what I mean.

37-year-old Anna Whitlock thought that it would be relatively easy to find another tech position when she was laid off in November 2024, but nearly a year later she is still searching for work

When Anna Whitlock was let go from her job in the technology industry in November of 2024, she wasn’t worried about lining up a new position. The Washington state resident had 11 years of experience managing network infrastructure projects, a specialized role that involves equipping buildings with internet access, cameras and wifi security systems.

“The last time I had to job search, I found something pretty easily,” she said.

Almost a year later, the 37-year-old is still without a job. Whitlock said she has applied to hundreds of jobs — even for positions she’s overqualified for — to no avail.

Whitlock is highly qualified and has a ton of experience.

But even though she has applied for hundreds of positions, her job search has gone nowhere, and now her unemployment benefits have run out

“The more I looked, the more I wasn’t getting responses. If I did have an interview, I only made it the first one or two rounds,” said Whitlock, who has a 16-year-old daughter. “Things got really real when my unemployment ran out.”

There are countless others that are going through the same thing, and their ranks are growing with each passing day.

In fact, even the government bureaucrats at the BLS are admitting that the unemployment rate has risen to the highest level that we have seen in more than 4 years

The unemployment rate in November rose to 4.6%, the highest level since September 2021.

The November employment report offers a fresh picture of the labor market after a six-week blackout in official data caused by the recent government shutdown. The data suggests that employers in industries ranging from manufacturing to hospitality are hitting the pause button on hiring amid concerns about economic growth and tariff costs, some economists noted.

“Businesses are not hiring as they adjust to tariffs, uncertain conditions and AI. The result is about 700,000 more unemployed Americans than there were a year ago,” said Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union, in an email.

In 2021, we were still recovering from the massive spike in unemployment that we experienced during the initial stages of the pandemic.

What excuse do we have now?

According to one prominent economist, the U.S. economy is now “in a jobs recession”

“The U.S. economy is in a jobs recession,” said Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union. “The nation has added a mere 100,000 in the past six months. The bulk of those jobs were in healthcare, an industry that is almost always hiring due to America’s aging population.”

It takes approximately 150,000 new jobs a month just to keep up with population growth.

So over a six month period, the U.S. economy must produce 900,000 new jobs just to keep up with population growth.

So the fact that we have added only 100,000 new jobs over the last six months means that we are 800,000 new jobs short of what would be required just to be treading water.

Digging deeper into the numbers that the BLS released, we discover that the number of full-time workers in the U.S. fell by nearly a million between September and November…

In November, the number of full-time workers plunged by 983K from September to 134.17 million. At the same time, in the two months since Sept, the number of part-time workers soared by over 1 million (1.025 million to be precise) to 29.486 million…

Wow.

I knew that we were losing good paying full-time jobs, but I didn’t think that it was happening that fast.

Throughout 2025, large companies have been ruthlessly laying off highly paid workers all over the nation.

In fact, Challenger, Gray & Christmas has reported that the number of announced job cuts through the first 11 months of this year was 54 percent higher than the number of announced jobs cuts through the first 11 months of last year…

Americans are growing increasingly terrified about layoffs – and with good reason. Cuts are accelerating, and no industry feels safe. All told, employers have announced roughly 1.2 million cuts so far this year, according to layoff tracker Challenger, Gray & Christmas – that’s 54 percent more than during the first 11 months of 2024. Perhaps the most unsettling is that industries once seen as safe harbors for employees – tech, manufacturing and even small business – are now among the hardest hit.

Most of the jobs that are being cut are good paying full-time jobs.

We are talking about the sort of jobs that college graduates work.

Once upon a time, a college degree was a ticket to a good job and a middle class lifestyle, but these days a college degree is a lot less valuable than it once was…

Not so very long ago, the accepted wisdom (or at least the advice that your parents told you over and over again) was that going to college to get a degree would set you up for more success in life, opening doors to interesting careers and bigger wage checks. But new data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland suggests that this may no longer be quite so definitive today. In fact, some kids who are fresh owners of high school diplomas may be finding it easier to land jobs than their more educated colleagues.

I feel so badly for young college graduates that are trying to find work right now.

When Jake Fishman graduated from Cornell, he assumed that his degree would open up all sorts of doors for him.

But after applying for over 300 jobs, he is still without a job

Each morning, Jake Fishman ’25 opens his laptop to repeat the same ritual. Scrolling through Handshake, LinkedIn and Indeed, he submits countless cover letters and resumes that, according to him, rarely get a response.

Since graduating from Cornell’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration in May, Fishman estimates that he has applied to more than 300 jobs and has only heard back from five.

A lot of people assume that those that are unemployed are idle.

But of course that is not true at all.

Searching for work in this environment is essentially a full-time job, and Fishman says that he is “somehow busier than ever”

“Despite being unemployed, I’m somehow busier than ever,” Fishman said. “Basically, applying for a job is a full-time job.”

While Fishman tells himself that he is bound to find a job as a Cornell graduate, months of unanswered applications made him question that assumption.

I wish that I could tell job seekers that conditions will soon improve.

But I can’t do that.

Yes, economic conditions are really rough right now, but I am convinced that they will continue to deteriorate during the months ahead.

So if you are without work, I would encourage you to grab whatever is available while you still can.

A major economic storm has now arrived, and the intensity of that storm is only going to increase as we head into 2026.

Five Guys Now Offering 50-Year Burger Financing | Babylon Bee

Image for article: Five Guys Now Offering 50-Year Burger Financing

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Inspired by the Trump White House’s move toward 50-year mortgages, popular burger chain Five Guys announced it would be addressing the ongoing “Five Guys Affordability Crisis” with convenient 50-year burger financing.

“We get it. Things are expensive, especially our burgers,” the company said in a public press release. “But new burger financing options make our menu more accessible to the average consumer than ever. Sign up for 10-year, 30-year, or even 50-year financing options. No credit check required!”

Economists urged customers not to sign up for Five Guys’ burger financing program, warning that the interest alone will amount to $10,000. “It doesn’t hurt as much up front, but this is really just a price hike disguised as a discount,” warned economic expert Paul Krugman.

Five Guys CEO Jerry Murrell, the first of the five guys, dismissed concerns that he was conning consumers and argued that their burger financing options adhere to the Wimpy code. “J. Wellington Wimpy from ‘Popeye’ simply wanted to pay people Tuesday for a hamburger today,” Murrell explained. “This is the same principle. We’ll gladly give you a burger today, and you can gradually pay it off for the rest of your life.”

Despite expert concerns, however, customers were already flocking to Five Guys, with diners slowly realizing that the typical person doesn’t buy one burger over the course of their life, they buy several hundred.

“One burger costs a lot if you pay for it all at once, but I can spread that cost out over several decades,” said local burger consumer Tony Hart. “But that’s the future’s problem. I’ll let my grandkids deal with it.”

At publishing time, Five Guys opened a new division within their company seeking full-time repo men to handle customers who fall behind on their burger payments.

It Has Begun – Some Crazed Lunatics Are Already Storming Into Grocery Stores And Taking Whatever They Want | The Economic Collapse

I suppose that we should not be surprised, because they told us exactly what they intended to do. For weeks, food stamp recipients have been posting videos on social media telling us what will happen if their food stamp benefits are cut off. We have been warned that they will go to their local grocery stores and fill up their carts just as they normally do. We have also been warned that there will be violence if anyone tries to stop them when they leave without paying. A lot of people out there were convinced that these lunatics were bluffing, but the truth is that what they threatened to do has already started to happen.

In Massachusetts, two crazed women were just arrested for “shoplifting expensive groceries and then attacking employees”…

Two women are facing charges for allegedly shoplifting expensive groceries and then attacking employees at a Market Basket in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, over the weekend.

Olivia L. Byrd, 37, of Quincy, and Rahjane J. Byrd, 28, of Hyde Park, were each charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, shoplifting by asportation, and disorderly conduct.

They found out the hard way that stealing groceries is not as easy as TikTok influencers would have us to believe.

In the real world, if you steal things you could end up in prison.

Apparently these two women have expensive tastes, because they were attempting to steal “lobster meat, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter”

Investigators say the Byrds were concealing high-priced items, including lobster meat, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter in a bag while shopping.

The women allegedly did not pay for the items at checkout and were confronted by store employees.

The confrontation between store employees and these two women did not go well.

In fact, one of the women hit a store employee with her phone “right in the face”

“She cracked him hard with that cellphone, right in the face,” said Jeff Cuddy, who filmed the altercation. “And the guy was respectful and responsible, and he just let it go.”

I am glad that they were caught.

Hopefully this will discourage other potential thieves.

But there will inevitably be some people that will be able to get away with stealing food from their local grocery stores.

In Chambersburg, Pennsylvania police are currently looking for a man that walked straight out the front door with a full cart of food

Police in Chambersburg are looking for a person of interest who was seen on surveillance video leaving a grocery store with a full cart.

According to police, a man filled his cart full of items at the Giant in the 900 block of Wayne Avenue on September 28, and then left without paying.

In 2025, stealing a full cart of food is not a small crime.

Depending on what you select, a full cart of food can easily cost you several hundred dollars these days.

If we start witnessing widespread grocery thefts all over the nation, I think that it won’t be too long before we start seeing armed guards in food stores and armed guards on food delivery trucks.

One particularly foolish woman actually posted a video in which she openly bragged about all of the stuff that she just stole from her local grocery store.  When she is finally caught, it will be very easy to convict her…

Four weeks into the federal government shutdown, a woman claiming she’s out of food stamps is bragging online about stealing from a grocery store while urging others to steal at will and “infiltrate” churches to get cash.

The woman who goes by “consiracycutiee” and has a username of @jaalagotanattitude posted her illegal shoplifting exploits on social media, using extremely graphic language.

“Everything out here is yours,” she said. “Whether or not you take it, they call that sh** free will. I call that sh** eminent domain. You know what I’m saying? One thing I learned from the white men: Take it!”

This is the kind of young people that our society is now producing.

I think that says a lot about the condition of our society at this stage.

You can watch footage of her making these shocking comments in this YouTube video.https://www.youtube.com/embed/v94urTCEphc?si=oTPbNPkVVRjcexD8

Sadly, there are millions of others just like her.

When things really start hitting the fan in this country, they aren’t going to hold back.

Any stores that still have self-checkout counters tend to be shoplifting magnets.

In Florida, one woman has been arrested for stealing over a thousand dollars worth of groceries from a Publix in Port Charlotte

A Port Charlotte woman is accused of stealing more than $1,000 in groceries from a Publix.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Lisandra Gallardo, 38, was arrested Tuesday after deputies responded to reports of multiple thefts over the course of a month at the Publix on South McCall Road.

CCSO said Gallardo stole from the store by using a duffel bag to hide items and only scanned a couple of products at self-checkout, taking the rest without paying.

A lot of times these people get caught because they just get too greedy.

If you keep going back again and again, eventually somebody is going to notice what you are doing.

Sadly, it won’t just be grocery stores that get hit during the weeks ahead.

In Kansas, one 38-year-old man is being charged with stealing food from an apartment complex “more than a dozen times”

Police have arrested a 38-year-old man accused of stealing food from a Wichita apartment complex more than a dozen times.

Sedgwick County jail records show Jeremie Adams was booked Tuesday for 15 counts of aggravated burglary and 15 counts of theft. He was held without bond Wednesday morning.

Wichita police say Adams is accused of forcing entry into Eaton Place Apartments at 517 East Douglas and taking food from the common-area pantry without paying. There are 15 confirmed incidents since mid-August.

When people without any moral standards get hungry, they are going to steal.

And if food stamps get cut off nationwide on November 1st, we are going to see a whole lot of very desperate people out there.

The good news is that there seems to be at least some hope that the government shutdown could be resolved soon…

  • Senators returned to Capitol Hill on Thursday to resume talks aimed at ending the government shutdown, now on its 30th day.
  • Senate Majority Leader John Thune told CNBC that “a lot more conversations” are happening between rank-and-file members, and suggested that next week’s elections might provide the catalyst needed to end the stalemate.
  • The Senate is not currently scheduled to vote on the House-passed continuing resolution to end the shutdown on Thursday.

Food stamp payments have never been stopped before.

So we don’t know exactly what will occur if it happens now.

Will there be rioting and looting?

Will the people that have been posting videos on social media follow through on their threats?

In just a few days we may find out whether they meant what they said or not.

Newsom Recounts Tough Childhood Where He Got In One Little Fight And Was Forced To Move In With His Auntie And Uncle In Bel-Air | Babylon Bee

LOS ANGELES, CA — California Governor Gavin Newsom gave voters a rare glimpse into his tragic story while appearing on a popular basketball and entertainment podcast, recounting his tough childhood where he got in one little fight and was forced to move in with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.

Newsom told the previously unknown story to illustrate the challenges he faced as a disadvantaged youth, giving insight into how far he had come since he lived on the mean streets as a young boy to now govern the Golden State.

“This is a story all about how my life got flipped. I mean, completely turned upside down,” Newsom said. “On the playground is where I spent most of my days, really. You know… chillin’ out… maxin’… relaxin’, all cool. Shootin’ some b-ball outside after school. That kind of thing. But there were a couple of guys, and they were just up to no good. They started making trouble in and around my neighborhood. I ended up getting into one little fight, and my mom got scared, and she told me, ‘You’re going to move in with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.’ That’s when everything changed for me. Hand to God.”

The hosts and viewers of the podcast were amazed by the story. “We had no idea, man,” said host Matt Barnes. “That story sounds almost like it’s made for TV or something.”

Newsom acknowledged the fantastical nature of the tale. “I feel you, bro,” he said. “But the cab I took pulled up to the house, I think it was around 7 or 8 or something. I told the cabbie, ‘Yo, homes, smell ya later.’ The guy reeked, ok? Like bad. But anyway… there I was. I ended up in Bel-Air.”

At publishing time, Newsom had gone on to tell the hosts about how his uncle used to throw his best friend “Jazz” out of the house on a near-weekly basis.

Nietzsche Saw What A Godless Future Might Become | Religion Unplugged

(ANALYSIS) This month marks 181 years — on October 15, 1844 — since the birth of a man with a magnificent mustache. That man is Friedrich Nietzsche.

So often cast as the very symbol of atheism, the German philosopher is widely misunderstood. To read him as a cheerleader for unbelief is to miss the point entirely.

When he declared “God is dead,” he wasn’t smirking. He was mourning. He saw what others refused to, or perhaps lacked the capacity to see: a West severed from its spiritual anchor would drift into darkness. His words, so often mistaken for triumph, were in fact prophetic.

Nietzsche looked around nineteenth-century Europe and saw a faith in freefall. Science was surging, churches were losing sway and belief in divine order was fading. To him, this was not liberation but a looming catastrophe. A civilization without God would not soar; it could not soar.

But it could splinter. Without a higher power, what holds culture together? Without sacred authority, what steers right and wrong? These questions plagued him. His cry was never “Finally, we are free.” It was “Now, we are in danger.”

He predicted that nihilism, the belief that life has no meaning, would spread like a plague. If God no longer lived in the minds of men, then truth, morality, and purpose would wither away. In that vacuum, something would rush in. Sometimes ideology. Sometimes, blind faith in charlatans. Sometimes raw power. Nietzsche warned that people might worship the state, worship money, or worship nothing at all. The danger wasn’t atheism, but an all-encompassing emptiness.

Nietzsche’s warning echoed in the rise of twentieth-century totalitarianism. Without God, regimes erected new “gods”: Marxist utopias, racial purity and national destiny. Each filled the void with an absolute designed to replace faith. Millions perished under these false altars, ruled by false gods.

Nietzsche never lived to see Stalin or Hitler, yet he foresaw what happens when belief dies and no worthy substitute appears. The pattern hasn’t vanished. Today, leaders like Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un demand near-religious devotion, showing that when God is cast aside, tyranny seizes the throne.

Nietzsche didn’t sneer at all faith. He despised what he saw as Christianity’s weakness: the glorification of suffering, meekness, and passive acceptance. He wanted a faith that inspired vitality, courage, and creativity. He longed for a belief that lifted humanity rather than shackled it. His “death of God” was a solemn eulogy for a faith that, in his eyes, had wandered and waned.

Popular culture still misreads him. His words are quoted on coffee mugs, invoked by self-styled rebels who imagine he was endorsing hedonism. But Nietzsche’s vision was far darker and far heavier. He warned that if people filled the spiritual hole with shallow pleasures, whether drinking themselves into oblivion or shopping themselves into debt, the result would be the same. Spiritual bankruptcy was all but guaranteed.

In 2025, everywhere you look, there’s bankruptcy, both financially and morally. More and more people chase quick cash on platforms like OnlyFans, while others spend recklessly to escape the emptiness gnawing at them.

At the same time, the rise of influencers has transformed shallow personalities into fabricated figures of faith, worshipped not for their wisdom or virtue, but for clicks, curves and controversy. Instead of looking upward, society bows to screens. In this godless marketplace, meaning is traded for followers and the soul is left malnourished.

Nietzsche tried to imagine a way out. His answer was the Übermensch, the “overman” or “superman.” Not a comic-book hero, but a human who creates new values in a world without God. This archetype would overcome nihilism, not by denying it, but by rising above it. Yet the idea remains one of his most misunderstood. Some twisted it into a license for cruelty and domination. But Nietzsche’s Übermensch was never about ruling others. It was about ruling oneself.

That’s the tragedy of his legacy. He warned of the dangers of misinterpretation, yet misinterpretation became his fate. Nazis hijacked his words, ripping them from context, turning his philosophy into a weapon of hate. A man who despised herd mentality was made into the poster child for one of history’s worst herds.

And yet, Nietzsche remains disturbingly relevant. Every time society treats meaning as optional, his shadow looms. Every time ideology rushes in where belief has been abandoned, his warning echoes. He saw that people cannot live long without the transcendental. If God disappears, something else will take His place, and that something may be far worse.

Nietzsche’s legacy isn’t a manual for morbid atheists. It is a challenge for everyone. Meaning doesn’t appear by accident. Either something higher is forged, or humanity sinks into darkness. That is the burden of Nietzsche’s warning, and that is why his words still cut, still unsettle, still matter.

Our Society Has Produced A “Lost Generation” That Doesn’t Have Any Hope | The Economic Collapse

How can we possibly undo the severe long-term damage that has been done to an entire generation of young people over the course of several decades?  One of the most powerful pieces of evidence that our society is a failure is the fact that we have produced a “lost generation” of young adults that doesn’t have any hope.  We shipped most of them off to public schools where they were trained to believe that they came from monkeys, there is no purpose to their lives, and when they die nothing waits for them on the other side.  This sick philosophy is endlessly pounded into the heads of our young people, and many of those that have adopted it have come to the conclusion that they might as well live as hedonistically as they can while they are here.  Of course that doesn’t give them any meaning or purpose either, and so a lot of them end up sort of drifting through life seeking anything that can fill the painful emptiness that they feel inside.

It isn’t really a mystery why so many of our young people have gone completely insane.  Our modern liberal society urges them to constantly chase after things that will never satisfy them.  As a result, we have a national epidemic of loneliness, a national epidemic of depression, a national epidemic of drug abuse, and a national epidemic of suicide.

Our young people are offered one hamster wheel after another.  Each time, they are told that if they will just run hard enough they will finally be happy.

Of course that never actually happens.

It all starts in the public schools.  Parents send their children to these schools believing that they will receive a quality education, but the truth is that the quality of education in our public schools just keeps getting worse

The reading and math scores of 12th graders have plunged to their lowest level in over 20 years.

The scores, part of a test from the National Assessment of Education Progress, showed the average reading score for 12th graders dropped to the lowest level since the NAEP first administered the reading assessment in 1992. The average score for 12th graders in math in 2024 was the lowest since 2005, when the math assessment framework changed significantly.

I went to public schools all the way through high school, and then I attended two public universities for a total of eight years.

The quality of the education that I received was a joke.

The entire system is a fraud!  It is about time that we all finally admit that the emperor doesn’t have any clothes on.

But what our public schools are good at is indoctrinating young minds.  For example, just consider what has been happening in the state of Maryland

Schools are subverting students’ mental health by endlessly hectoring them to doubt or despise their own bodies. These school antics reached epidemic level even before the start of the Covid pandemic. In 2019, the state of Maryland issued regulations to promote “viewing each student’s” “gender identity and expression” as “valuable.” Government officials and political appointees arrogated to themselves the prerogative to redefine gender in the state of Maryland. Montgomery County, the largest school system in the state, announced that it would choose books for the curriculum “through an ‘LGBTQ+ Lens’ and ask whether books ‘reinforced or disrupted’ ‘stereotypes,’ ‘cisnormativity,’ and ‘power hierarchies,’” according to a brief filed at the Supreme Court by parents who successfully challenged the school system. That brief also noted that “teachers are told to frame disagreement with [pro-LGBTQ] ideas as ‘hurtful,’ and to counter with examples of ‘men who paint their nails’ or ‘wear dresses.’” The goal is to instill in children “a new perspective not easily contravened by their parents,” as the county school board admitted.

The indoctrination produced a 582% increase in the number of kids self-identifying as “non-binary” in Montgomery County schools. “Disrupting children’s thinking” has been so successful that almost half of the students identified themselves as non-binary.

Sadly, most parents have no idea what is really going on in these schools.

They just assume that their kids are being prepared for life in the real world.

But instead they are having leftist “values” systematically shoved down their throats.

Needless to say, it gets even worse at the next level.

Our colleges and universities are completely and utterly dominated by radical leftists.

This is why so many of our young people abandon the values that they were raised with once they enroll in these “institutions of higher learning”.  This is a point that was made exceptionally well in a recent article by Victor Davis Hanson

Hundreds of thousands of students emerge from campuses not just indoctrinated with contempt for the Western tradition and American exceptionalism, and not just often thousands of dollars in debt from inflated tuition, but also poorly educated by the standards that once defined education.

The working classes and high school graduates, supposedly the losers of our society, are not those who are dividing the country. They are not often advocating violence or trying to use any means necessary to overturn the established order. But so often the products of the modern university are doing just that.

Sadly, in all these recent horrors, the ideology behind them—the premise that either birthed or appeased them—was birthed in modern higher education.

He is right.

Once upon a time, colleges and universities were primarily concerned with equipping students with the skills that they would need for their future careers.

Today, colleges and universities are primarily concerned with brainwashing impressionable young kids.

So how is that working out for our society?

Well, we now have a raging epidemic of loneliness among our young people…

Half of U.S. youth say that loneliness has a daily disruptive impact on their mental health, according to Hopelab and Data For Progress survey results shared exclusively with Axios.

In addition, the percentage of the population that is suffering with or receiving treatment for depression has nearly doubled over the past decade…

Depression remains an ongoing problem in the U.S. as historically high rates persist, polling company Gallup reveals.

The reported percentage of U.S. adults suffering or receiving treatment for depression has been higher than 18 percent for the past two years. A decade ago, in 2015, the number was just over 10 percent.

“The increase is alarming, and it is important that we keep an open mind and explore all possible causes for the rapid, and apparently sustained, rise in depression rates over the past decade,” Dr. Gerard Sanacora, a professor of psychiatry, director of Yale Depression Research Program and co-director of Yale New Haven Hospital Interventional Psychiatry Service at Yale University, told Newsweek.

On top of everything else, “deaths of despair” caused by alcohol abuse, drug abuse and suicide are absolutely soaring

Two non-profits, Trust for America’s Health and Well Being Trust, published a report this month which paints a harrowing picture of reality for millennials with an addiction in the United States. According to the report, which is an analysis of data from the CDC, millennials are the most likely age demographic to die from alcohol, drug abuse, and suicide. Millennials are most often defined as people who were born between the years 1981 and 1996, although some definitions expand the category to cover people who were born up through the year 2000.

Over the course of one decade, from 2007 to 2017, the rate of alcohol-related deaths among millennials rose by 69%, the rate of deaths caused by drugs rose by 108%, and the suicide rate rose by 35%. The report also indicates that the opioid epidemic has devastated millennials. From 1999 to 2017, the rate of fatal opioid overdoses among millennials rose by 500% and the rate of fatal overdoses involving synthetic opioids (especially fentanyl) skyrocketed by 6,000%.

Please go back and look at those numbers one more time.

What we are doing is clearly not working.

We have a system that does not give our young people any hope, and the consequences have been absolutely devastating.

Those of us that refuse to go along with the system are increasingly being marginalized and pushed to the fringes of our society, but we will not yield because we have found hope in Jesus Christ.  If you would like to study the evidence that proves that the Christian faith is true, I would strongly encourage you to read my book entitled “Why”, because it contains a lot of information that has been kept from the general population.

Our schools aren’t going to tell you the truth.

Neither will the other major institutions in our society.

If you are tired of being lied to, it is time to wake up and start thinking for yourself.

We live at a time when deception is literally all around us, but the truth is still out there, and you can find it if you are willing to search for it.

It’s A Crisis! A Whopping 67 Percent Of American Workers Are Living Paycheck To Paycheck In 2025 | The Economic Collapse

When two-thirds of all the workers in your entire country are just barely scraping by from month to month, you have got a major crisis on your hands. For a long time, our standard of living has been going down and the middle class has been shrinking. But in recent years, those two trends have accelerated. We have now reached a point where it takes 5 million dollars to live the American Dream for a lifetime. Needless to say, the vast majority of the population will never come close to making that sort of money. But most Americans continue to strive to live a middle class lifestyle, and as a result most people are teetering on the brink of financial disaster in this day and age.

According to a survey that was recently conducted by PNC Bank, 67 percent of U.S. workers are now living paycheck to paycheck…

A growing share of U.S. workers are struggling to cover expenses as everyday costs continue to weigh heavily on household budgets, according to new survey findings.

PNC Bank’s annual Financial Wellness in the Workplace Report shows that 67 percent of workers now say they are living paycheck to paycheck, up from 63 percent in 2024.

The report surveyed 1,000 U.S. workers aged 21 to 69 who work full time at companies with more than 100 workers.

There are two very important points that I want to make about this survey.

First of all, it only covers people that actually have a job.

There are vast numbers of other Americans that are not employed and that are deeply struggling right now.

So when you take that into account, this survey is even more shocking.

Secondly, it is clear that we are rapidly moving in the wrong direction.

It was bad enough that 63 percent of U.S. workers were living paycheck to paycheck last year, but now we are at 67 percent.

A four percent jump in a single year is a very troubling sign.

The primary reason why so many employed Americans are struggling financially is due to the rapidly rising cost of living.

For example, the price of coffee has risen by almost 21 percent over the past 12 months…

Coffee drinkers are in for a jolt long before their first sip.

Retail coffee prices in the United States in August jumped nearly 21% compared to the same month last year — the largest annual jump since October 1997, according to the latest Consumer Price Index, released Thursday. On a monthly basis, coffee prices rose 4%, the most in 14 years.

The vast majority of the coffee that we drink is imported, and Brazil is the number one source

Coffee, for instance, is largely imported because there are only a handful of places in the U.S. where the beans can be grown, such as Hawaii and Puerto Rico. About 80% of unroasted coffee imports are sourced from Latin America, primarily from Brazil, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Products from Brazil that are shipped to the U.S. now face a 50% tariff, according to the White House.

If you drink coffee, you will want to brace yourself, because prices are only going to go higher in the months ahead.

Of course just about everything has become significantly more expensive, and this is pushing many consumers over the edge.

I recently wrote about how subprime auto loan delinquencies in the U.S. have risen to an all-time high, and now we have learned that one of the largest subprime auto loan lenders in the U.S. has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy

A company that provides auto loans to families with poor or no credit has filed for bankruptcy.

Tricolor Holdings, a Dallas-based car fixing and credit company, has filed for Chapter 7 — or liquidation — bankruptcy. The filing typically means the company will quickly go out of business.

The company’s demise is a warning sign for the US economy: Americans are racking up a huge amount of debt to keep their cars, while a record amount can’t keep up with the payments.

This is just the beginning.

There will be more failures.

At this stage, most of us can feel the change that is in the air.  In fact, it is being reported that consumer confidence “dropped sharply in September”…

Consumer confidence dropped sharply in September to its lowest level in four months, according to preliminary data released Friday, as Americans expressed growing anxiety about job security and the persistence of high prices.

The University of Michigan’s closely watched index of consumer sentiment fell to 55.4 in September from 58.2 in August, missing economists’ expectations and reflecting what survey director Joanne Hsu described as “multiple vulnerabilities in the economy.”

And the confidence that Americans have in being able to find a new job has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded

In the latest sign of trouble for the U.S. labor market, confidence in the ability to move from one job to another has hit a record low, according to a New York Federal Reserve survey released Monday.

Respondents to the central bank’s monthly Survey of Consumer Expectations for August indicated a 44.9% probability of finding another job after losing their current one. The reading tumbled 5.8 percentage points from the prior month and is the lowest in the survey’s history dating back to June 2013.

If you are thriving in this extremely difficult economic environment, good for you.

For most of the population, things are very painful at this moment.

The ranks of the middle class are steadily thinning out, poverty is growing all around us, and more Americans are homeless than ever before in our entire history.

In Los Angeles, one homeless encampment has become so enormous that it is now being described as a full-blown “city”

A sprawling homeless encampment in Los Angeles is drawing ire from neighbors who say the makeshift shelter has grown into a full “city” of its own, complete with working electricity and a recreational area featuring a tennis court, garden and barbecue pit.

The encampment sits on a vacant Koreatown lot surrounded by apartment buildings and other structures, according to ABC 7.

“The reason why people are sleeping here is because you leaders are sleeping on not taking initiative and action to clean this place up,” neighborhood resident Daniel King told the station.

Most Americans are just a few bad breaks from losing everything.

In fact, there are already millions of Americans that have lost everything, and those that are on the bottom levels of the economic pyramid are becoming increasingly desperate.

When things really start hitting the fan in this country, vast numbers of extremely desperate people will cause tremendous chaos throughout our society.

Things didn’t have to turn out this way.

If we would have made much different decisions over the past 50 or 60 years, we would have gotten much different results.

But we just kept doing things the wrong way, and now we shall reap what we have sown.

It Is “The Toughest Time In Years” To Be Looking For A Job In The U.S. – One 64-Year-Old Man Has Been Waking Up At 3 AM To Search For Work And Can’t Find Anything | The Economic Collapse

Are we defined by what we do?  For so many of us, our identities are tied to our occupations.  For example, when I worked in the legal field many years ago so many of my colleagues took great pride in being able to say “I’m a lawyer” when they were asked about their lives.  Unfortunately, we live in a society where our personal worth is largely determined by what kind of jobs we have or how much money we make.  I wish that our society did not look at people this way, but that is the reality of the world that we live in now.  Unfortunately, large numbers of Americans are now losing the jobs that they value so much, and competition for any good jobs that do happen to be available has become extremely fierce.  In fact, I am going to share a story with you in this article that is so extreme that you may not believe it, but it is actually true.

When someone is unemployed for an extended period of time, it can be absolutely soul crushing.

If you have been there, you know exactly what I am talking about.

You don’t want anyone to ask you what you do, because it can make you feel worthless.

Without a job, your status in society is greatly diminished, and many will look on you with pity.

And with each passing day, the bills just keep on piling up.

A few years ago, it was relatively easy to find work, but now conditions have changed dramatically.  The following comes from a Washington Post article entitled “Why it’s the toughest time to be searching for work in America in years”…

It’s the toughest time in years to be searching for work in America.

New data last week showed a fourth month of tepid job growth and propelled joblessness to its highest level since late 2021, when the economy was still recovering from the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. Now, as companies wrestle with inflation, economic uncertainty and trade policy whiplash, many are shredding payrolls and shifting tasks to artificial intelligence while pulling in higher profits. And some executives are pointedly broadcasting sizable layoffs as wins, a sign they’re making workforces leaner and more efficient.

There are so many people out there that are searching for work right now.

At the same time, postings for available jobs are rapidly drying up

Meanwhile, job postings fell across nearly every sector compared with a year ago, with the steepest declines recorded in child care, community and social service, scientific research, retail, and hospitality, according to the employment website Indeed. Administrative roles such as human resources and accounting also posted double-digit declines.

If you find yourself unemployed at this moment, I feel so badly for you.

The job market is so rough, but you can’t give up, because the market is only going to get even tighter as the weeks roll along.

Earlier today, I came across a story about a 64-year-old unemployed man that is absolutely heartbreaking.

He has a very hard time sleeping because he doesn’t have a job, and so he often gets up around 3 AM to search for work

I often wake up around 3 a.m. with my mind racing — thinking about which roles to apply to or what job search strategy to try next.

Instead of trying to fall back asleep, I usually get up and start working on my job search, which includes sending out applications or post-interview thank you letters. Around 6 a.m., I typically might make breakfast, shower, and then start planning out what I want to accomplish that day. It’s become a sort of routine.

His name is Matthew English and he has decades of experience in accounting.

But even though he has applied for hundreds of jobs, he has been out of work since last October

I’ve been looking for a full-time job since October 2024, after a decadeslong career in accounting.

Submitting hundreds of applications and spending countless hours on my job search have led to several interviews, but I haven’t been able to secure an offer.

I’ve applied for jobs related to my accounting background, but I’ve also expanded my search to any part-time or full-time job I feel I could perform — including entry-level, non-skilled positions. I even applied to be the Chick-fil-A cow mascot at a Birmingham location.

That last sentence really hit me hard.

He is so desperate to find something that he is even willing to put on a cow costume and be a mascot at a Chick-fil-A location.

But he was not hired for that either.

Meanwhile, large employers continue to conduct mass layoffs all over the nation

In the past eight months, Kroger — the nation’s largest supermarket chain — has overseen three rounds of layoffs. The latest, announced last month, included 1,000 corporate staff and mainly affected its technology and digital team, according to LinkedIn posts from former employees.

Nike, which has reported softening sales and an estimated $1 billion a year hit from tariffs, said this week it would lay off nearly 1 percent of its corporate staff while the sporting gear maker undergoes a “realignment.” Estée Lauder, which expects a $100 million tariff bill this fiscal year, cut 7,000 jobs in February, about 11 percent of its staff.

I have been warning for months that this was going to happen.

Now we are here.

According to economist Mark Zandi, quite a few U.S. states are already experiencing recessionary conditions

Leading economist Mark Zandi has warned that a third of the US is already in or at high risk of going into a recession.

Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, revealed that states making up nearly a third of America’s GDP – including Virginia, Connecticut and Delaware – are in dangerous territory.

‘States experiencing recessions are spread across the country, but the broader DC area stands out due to government job cuts,’ Zandi wrote on X.

Of course many would argue that it feels like the entire country has already plunged into a recession.

I think that it would be very difficult to refute that.

But what we are experiencing now is not even worth comparing to what is coming.

Individually, we can’t change the circumstances in which we currently find ourselves.

But we can change how we respond to them.

Don’t you dare give up.

Your past does not have to define your future.

No matter what your circumstances may be at this moment, the best chapters of your life can still be ahead of you.

Do not allow yourself to be defined by your employment status of by how much money you have.

We were all put here for a reason, and times of transition can be a perfect opportunity to explore your reason for being here.

Life is about so much more than jobs and money.

Once you discover that, everything changes.

IN TODAY’S DIGEST

EXECUTIVE NEWS SUMMARY

The Editors

  • CDC director fired after tiff with RFK: Susan Monarez, the recently confirmed director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has been fired. Monarez refused Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s request for her resignation over vaccine policy disagreements. Monarez’s lawyers released a statement saying the firing was due to her refusal to “rubber-stamp unscientific, reckless directives.” Several other CDC officials resigned on Wednesday following Monarez’s firing. One of the resignees, Demetre Daskalakis — the head of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases — posted a fiery resignation letter to X, accusing HHS of ignoring the “gold standard” of science at the CDC … before signing off with his pronouns.
  • Judge blocks Garcia deportation until October: We wrote earlier this week about activist Judge Paula Xinis’s decision to “absolutely forbid” Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation for now. Xinis’s intent is to keep deportations of even wife-beating MS-13 gangsters from ever happening. That much is revealed by the delayed hearing date of October 6, which is set to allow Garcia to plead fear of deportation. Garcia’s lawyer announced yesterday that Garcia will once again be seeking asylum in the U.S. and has requested that an immigration judge reopen the proceedings. Garcia has previously been denied asylum.

  • California’s two-state solution: “Gavin, let my people go.” So says the top GOP California assemblyman after the state easily passed a new redistricting map that reduces the nine GOP-held House seats to just four out of the 52 total California House seats. Assemblyman James Gallagher is now pushing to split California into two states, with 35 inland counties splitting from the coastal areas to pursue a more representative government. At a press conference, Gallagher stated that the two-state solution would be a long, locally driven process. Democrats, including Senator Alex Padilla and a spokesman for Gavin Newsom, dismissed the proposal as unrealistic and an indication that Gallagher is unfit for office.
  • COVID jab EUA rescinded: On Wednesday, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced: “I promised 4 things: 1. to end covid vaccine mandates. 2. to keep vaccines available to people who want them, especially the vulnerable. 3. to demand placebo-controlled trials from companies. 4. to end the emergency.” He then noted that all those goals have now been met, therefore “the emergency use authorizations for Covid vaccines, once used to justify broad mandates on the general public during the Biden administration, are now rescinded.” Kennedy added that the FDA has issued market authorization for COVID vaccines for the three major providers (Moderna, Pfizer, and Novavax). These will be “available for all patients who choose them after consulting with their doctors,” he said. “The American people demanded science, safety, and common sense. This framework delivers all three.”
  • Air Force reverses, grants military funeral for Ashli Babbitt: The only person actually killed during the January 6 Capitol riot was 35-year-old Air Force and National Guard veteran Ashli Babbitt. She was shot and killed by Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd as he sought to prevent the unarmed Babbitt from climbing through a smashed window. Under the Biden administration, the Air Force refused to allow Babbitt a military funeral. That has now changed. In a letter sent to Babbitt’s husband and mother, Undersecretary of the Air Force Matthew L. Lohmeier wrote, “After reviewing the circumstances of Ashli’s death, and considering the information that has come forward since then, I am persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect.” The Air Force will now provide full military funeral honors for Babbitt. This also comes following the Babbitt family getting a $5 million wrongful death settlement from the U.S. government.
  • Russians kill 15 Ukrainians: The Russian military launched another massive overnight ballistic missile and drone attack against the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv last night, killing 15 Ukrainian civilians, including four children. It’s a continuation of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to have his military target civilian populations in his ongoing war against Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Putin has chosen “ballistics over the negotiating table,” as Donald Trump’s efforts to get Putin to seriously negotiate a peace deal are proving fruitless. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia “maintains its interest in continuing the negotiation process.” Recent Gallup polling finds that roughly two-thirds of Americans don’t believe that a peace deal can be struck.

  • Offshore wind opponents frustrated by Trump: In April, the Interior Department hit the brakes on a massive offshore wind farm project in New York and New Jersey. Donald Trump has been critical of green energy technology, even signing an executive order blocking new wind farm projects. Yet the Trump administration lifted its block on the Empire Wind project in May, and construction of 54 offshore wind turbines has been given the green light, angering a coalition of opponents comprising fishermen, residents, business owners, and local government officials. “It was just jaw-droppingly surprising to see the about-face that happened a month later,” Protect Our Coast NJ President Robin Shaffer stated. The Trump administration struck a deal with New York Governor Kathy Hochul to halt her opposition to the completion of a major natural gas pipeline project. A Trump administration official argued that the Empire Wind project was still under review.
  • Fake college websites built with AI scam students: “Southeastern Michigan University,” “Baltimore Metropolitan University,” and “California Lake University” don’t exist, but they’ve scammed cash-strapped students out of an unknown amount of money. Inside Higher Ed recently released the results of an investigation that found 40 of these fake universities with AI-built websites. The poor, new arrivals to the U.S., and international students are the targets of these fake universities that offer too-good-to-be-true bachelor’s degrees that cost as little as $31,680 and can be completed in just two years. The scams are well-built with social media presence and links to fake accreditations from fake organizations. Experts warn that AI has accelerated these scams, allowing a single individual to build a convincing website with chatbots and social media advertising almost instantly.

FEATURED ANALYSIS

The Deadly ‘Trans’ Assault in Minneapolis

Nate Jackson

As school has begun across the country, there have been numerous hoax calls about active shooters on campus. That’s a sick way to get entertainment, but sicker still is when the shooting is real, as it was yesterday morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Tragically, two children — ages eight and 10 — lost their lives when the assailant opened fire through church windows as the students were assembled for mass and prayer. Seventeen others, mostly students, were wounded, some critically.

After his assault, the murderer took his own life. And, like the murderous psychopath at The Covenant School in Nashville two years ago, this killer identified as “transgender.”

For the media outlets that use feminine or “they/them” pronouns or the “trans woman” moniker for this 23-year-old man, shame on you for indulging his twisted fantasy even after he inflicted demonic horror upon young students, teachers, and families.

Given that the assault occurred while the victims were praying, prayer became a big part of this story. “Please lift up these families and these children in prayer and surround them and each other with your love during this difficult time,” read a statement from the Church of the Annunciation. Countless others offered prayers via social media posts.

For Democrats whose only solution to such crimes is to put up worthless “gun-free zone” signs and infringe on the Second Amendment rights of the law-abiding, however, prayers were not only not enough but also offensive.

“Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” railed Democrat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey at a press conference at the school. “These kids were literally praying.” Clearly, he’s a man who doesn’t understand prayer. It’s not a magic incantation or body armor, but to frame prayer as worthless is a heartless attack on the victims.

Former Joe Biden press secretary and now MSNBC host Jen Psaki expressed similar contempt for the faithful. “Prayer is not freaking enough,” she posted. “Prayers [sic] does not end school shootings. prayers [sic] do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.”

Besides being anti-Christian, this attack is a straw man. Conservatives have never said prayers are the only thing that can be done, but Democrats don’t like solutions such as armed guards or teachers.

Worse, these rants against prayer sound eerily similar to the message on the killer’s gun: “Where is your God?”

The assailant just met Him, and people like Frey and Psaki might want to reconsider their own lives before their just and loving Creator.

Predictably, several Democrats made their usual perfunctory calls for “sensible gun control.” According to Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, we have to “grapple with the fact that we have too many guns out there right now.”

Well, what has the state’s governor, erstwhile vice presidential candidate Tim “Stolen Valor” Walz, done about guns? His state was ground zero for the George Floyd riots and ensuing violent crime wave in 2020, and it has been the site of other political violence since then.

First, Walz deceives about firearm capabilities by claiming “weapons of war” have no business in the hands of civilians, and, as a National Guard veteran, he ought to know. Indeed, he should know that select-fire weapons carried by the military are functionally different from semiautomatic rifles owned by private individuals. Calling it an “assault weapon” because it has a pistol grip, barrel shroud, or collapsible stock is a lie.

As governor, Walz signed “historic” gun control legislation that implemented universal background checks and red flag orders. The Minneapolis assailant wasn’t stopped by either. Meanwhile, Walz ignored pleas from independent and Catholic schools for security funding.

Walz did, however, bizarrely say last year, “I’ve become friends with school shooters.”

Walz also made Minnesota a “trans refuge” state — a “sanctuary” of sorts for kids to undergo gender mutilation. Earlier this week at the Democratic National Committee’s summer meetings, he bragged, “Minnesota ranks the highest per-capita for being a safe haven for transgender individuals.” His policies were deadly for Catholic kids, and they currently sacrifice other children on the altar of the Left’s sex cult.

In fact, though the Leftmedia is largely still searching for a motive, the “trans” killer was very explicit about his goals in journals and a “manifesto” video.

He graduated from eighth grade at the Annunciation Catholic School in 2017, and his mother worked there until 2021. Resentment was clearly a factor, as he declared that killing “children of innocent civilians” would bring him “the most joy.” He idolized other school shooters, ranted about his own mental anguish, and expressed hatred for Christians, “filthy Zionist Jews,” and Donald Trump. He had a gun target bearing the face of Jesus.

“Extra Thicc Jew Gas,” “Burn Israel,” and “6 Million Wasn’t Enough” were scrawled on his guns and magazines. ABC News reported that “the name of President Trump” was also written on his gun — except the reporter was referring to the phrase “Kill Donald Trump.” It’s despicable disinformation to deliberately leave out the word “kill,” as if to imply the murderer liked Trump.

Appropriately, FBI Director Kash Patel noted, “The FBI is investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.”

The killer, with his mother’s help because he was a minor at the time, legally changed his name in 2019. This man should have failed any background check based on his obvious mental illness. Frankly, the same is true of any man who thinks he’s a woman, or a woman who thinks she’s a man. But Democrats detest such honesty.

Instead of forthrightly grappling with the problem, Mayor Frey accused his opponents of bigotry: “Anybody who is using this as an opportunity to villainize our trans community or any other community out there has lost their sense of common humanity.” I’m not villainizing people suffering from gender pathology to accurately point to the sex of their birth, or to argue that saying otherwise is a terrible and dehumanizing lie.

The killer was all over the map on this anyway. “I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it,” he wrote not long ago. “I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”

It’s a horrifically deadly development that so-called “trans” individuals are increasingly becoming violent. There will be other copycats after this because when people are sucked into the deranged sex cult, terrible things happen. Men and women made in the image of God should not be so misled or mistreated. We should all pray and work against such a deadly ideology.
