‘Biased, boring and bad’: U.S. teens say American news media is deceptive, fake, untrustworthy and misleading | WND

Today’s journalism involves hundreds, even thousands, of internet citizen journalists: They watch what happens in their communities and government and report on it.

And they often have video to substantiate their reports.

Not much more than a generation back, before the Web, network and newspaper reporters watched what happened and then reported what they wanted.

And that, according to a new polling of teen citizens, hasn’t changed much.

survey from the News Literacy Project confirms that teens, like adults, “tend to be distrusting of news media in .”

It reported that teen’s descriptions of the media included:

  • Biased
  • Boring
  • Bad
  • Fake
  • False
  • Lies
  • Crazy
  • Chaotic
  • Depressing
  • Scary
  • Deceptive
  • Untrustworthy
  • Compromised
  • Wild
  • Misleading

The report confirms “an overwhelming 84% of surveyed teens have a negative view of the media.”

Nine percent have a positive view, ranging from “OK” to “great.”

Forty-five percent of teens said “journalists do more to harm democracy than to protect it” and only 56% believe journalists and news organizations take journalism standards such as accuracy and fairness seriously in their work.

Eight of 10 said journalists fail to produce information that is more impartial than other content creators online, and seven of 10 think news organizations intentionally add bias to coverage to advance a specific perspective.

NLP said, “With views like these, it’s little wonder that many young people also indicated they do not see the value of preserving America’s Fourth Estate. About two-thirds (67%) of the teens we surveyed said they are a little or not at all concerned about the sharp decline in the number of news organizations in the U.S. over the last 20 years.”

The NLP noted young people are not alone in their views: “A 2025 Gallup poll showed record-low trust in mass media (newspapers, TV and radio) among U.S. adults, with only 28% of Americans having a great deal or a fair amount of trust and confidence in the mass media to report news ‘fully, accurately and fairly’ (Brenan, 2025).”

Reuters came up with similar results.

The NLP contracted to have more than 750 teen respondents to an earlier survey contacted again with follow-up questions.

“What we learned from this brief follow-up survey paints a shockingly bleak picture of how teens view and understand journalism and news media today. In short, they believe that unethical behaviors, including corruption and lying, are more commonplace in the profession than adhering to the ideals and standards based practices that are regarded as sacred and obligatory in legitimate newsrooms across the country.

“They are also much more likely to have negative associations with news media and journalism than positive ones.”

An explanation of the situation at the Washington Stand said, “The report found many of the respondents believed journalists were more ‘skilled at lying and deceiving than informing the public.’ At least 50% believe journalists ‘make up details,’ with at least 60% stating that photos and videos are taken ‘out of context.’ … Eighty percent ‘said that journalists fail to produce information that is more impartial than other content creators online.’ Sixty-nine percent ‘thought that news organizations intentionally add bias to coverage to advance a specific perspective.’”

In fact, 37% of the teens did not have “anything good to say about journalists today.”

Their suggestions?

Journalists should start “being honest” and “minimizing bias.”

The Stand explained, “NLP conducted this survey with a primary goal of ‘learn[ing] whether teens think journalists and news organizations these days are generally following professional journalism standards and ethical guidelines.’ The overarching consensus? ‘Teens consistently demonstrated the belief that unethical behaviors that overtly violate journalism principles are distinctly more common among journalists and news organizations than even the most fundamental standards-based practices.’”

So follow the NLP’s own recommendations:

“Encourage young people to distinguish between standards-based journalism and other types of information.”

“Teach students verification skills and how standards-based newsrooms operate.”

And, “Foster accurate perceptions of journalism by helping teens question unrealistic portrayals or sweeping statements about ‘the media’ and by acknowledging examples of high-quality journalism.”

Seattle Reporter ADMITS She ‘Used to Have TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME’ — Says She’s Now ‘Happier, Healthier, and Prettier’ After Ditching the Hate Train | The Gateway Pundit

The White House assembled several independent reporters who have faced off with antifa terrorists in the US Northwest, including Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington.

The list of journalists who were invited to attend the meeting included:

  • Andy Ngo — Senior Editor, The Post Millennial; Antifa specialist
  • Nick Sortor — Independent journalist; recently arrested in Portland
  • Julio Rosas — National Correspondent, The Blaze
  • Brandi Kruse — Independent journalist focused on Seattle protests
  • Jonathan Choe — Former Fox 13 Seattle reporter
  • Katie Daviscourt — Independent journalist covering Portland
  • Savanah Hernandez — Independent reporter
  • Cam Higby — Independent journalist
  • James Klug — Independent journalist
  • Nick Shirley — Independent journalist
  • Jack Posobiec — Journalist and influencer

Former Seattle television reporter Brandi Kruse delivered a very memorable statement at the roundtable directed at the US President.

Brandi Kruse: “Mr. President, Brandi Kruse, you can tell that several of us will be very fired up today because some of us have been covering antifa for 15 years and have never had anyone in a position of authority even acknowledge their existence.

And I also think the single most important thing you’ve done with this scourge is acknowledging that antifa is a real thing. I generally believe that there would be people at these tables who would be dead today and would have been killed in Portland had you not called them a terror organization and said we are going to bring the full weight of the federal government to bear… They haven’t been as quick to violence since you made that designation. They don’t want to go to federal prison…

I was told by probably a dozen people not to tell you this. I’m living proof that you can recover from TDS.

I had strong Trump Derangement Syndrome for probably eight years. This is one of the reasons I recovered from it. By the way, it’s much better to not have TDS.

I’m happier, I’m healthier, more successful. I even think I got a little more attractive after I got rid of my Trump derangement syndrome.

Yes. I’m a reporter in Seattle, and frankly, I could not care any less That’s what any of you have to say about this meeting. Could not care any less. We’re not here for you.

I’m not here to convince any of you that Antifa is a real thing, because if you have not come to that conclusion by now, you are never going to come to that conclusion because you don’t want to see it.

You’re going to go and you’re going to say it’s a bunch of right-wing, conservative influencers who are here spinning a tail. I was one of you. I was a mainstream reporter in Seattle for 10 years. I was a TV reporter on the streets doing my job, and I was still assaulted by Antifa.

It’s not about being conservative. It’s about people who go there and show what they’re doing.

When I saw, after all those years, that the media wouldn’t be honest about what was happening, that Democratic politicians wouldn’t be honest about what was happening, I thought, ‘Well, gosh, if they’re not being honest about that, maybe they’re not being honest about President Trump either.’ It opened my mind to just looking at things for what they were. Now I find you quite funny.”

Trust in the Mainstream News Media Hits New Low in the US at 28% | The Gateway Pundit

Fake news peddlers at The Washington Post and New York Times won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for their reporting on the Russia collusion scam.

We now know that every bit of this story was fake news and completely manufactured to bring down Trump.

Not a single reporter had the integrity to return their trophy for lying to the masses.

The latest Gallup poll found that American’s trust in the media is at an all-time low.

Just 20% of Americans say they have trust in newspapers, television or radio to report the truth. This number was twice as high at 40% just 5 years ago.

Maybe its all of their lies?

Gallup reported: When Gallup began measuring trust in the news media in the 1970s, between 68% and 72% of Americans expressed confidence in reporting. However, by the next reading in 1997, public confidence had fallen to 53%. Media trust remained just above 50% until it dropped to 44% in 2004, and it has not risen to the majority level since. The highest reading in the past decade was 45% in 2018, which came just two years after confidence had collapsed amid the divisive 2016 presidential campaign.

Republican’s trust in mass media is at 8% today.

Democrat’s trust in the mass media is at 51% today, barely a majority.

A poll back by Gallup and the Knight Foundation in 2023 found that only 26% of American’s view the news media favorably. 50% of respondents believe the mainstream media intends to mislead and misinform the public.

A 2021 report found that the US ranks dead last in media trust in polling of 46 different countries.

The poll was taken during the COVID epidemic when people trusted the media only later to find out that most everything they were told was complete fake news.

The Legacy Media’s Credibility is Crumbling and Conservatives Now Dominate Online News | The Daily Declaration

media

From podcasts to TikTok, conservative content now dominates globally, challenging traditional media authority and reshaping Western culture. Check out these 10 insights into how conservative voices have built a thriving digital ecosystem.

The invention of the internet didn’t just give more people access to knowledge. It democratised information. It took power away from the traditional gatekeepers and put the “keys to the kingdom” in everyone’s hands.

In 2025, this shift has become impossible to ignore — particularly in the world of news media.

The establishment’s frantic campaign to silence so-called ‘misinformation’ exposes the truth: they are desperately afraid of losing their grip on power. After decades of unchallenged authority, the old guard has realised that their ability to influence public opinion is quickly evaporating.

Don’t take my word for it. Just look at these stats.

Dr Steve Turley recently highlighted the findings of an analysis by the progressive news watchdog Media Matters. The study assessed 320 online shows and revealed that conservative content now commands 82% of the total followers across major platforms like YouTube, Rumble, Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

That’s a staggering statistic — but Media Matters’ findings didn’t stop there. Notably, nine out of the top ten most-followed shows are conservative, with a combined audience of nearly 200 million followers.

The only progressive show in the top ten was Trevor Noah’s What Now?, with 21.1 million followers. Since Media Matters published its study in March, however, even Noah’s show has dropped off the list after moving to SiriusXM, returning it to a more traditional, institutionally-backed platform.

It’s worth noting that while most of these shows originate in the United States, their audiences span the globe.

Signs of a Structural Shift

But there’s more.

The dominance of conservative content isn’t limited to a few headline shows. Across the 320 online programs analysed by Media Matters, conservative voices accounted for nearly five times the followers of left-leaning content — 480 million compared with just 104 million.

Moreover, even programs that present themselves as comedy, sports, or entertainment often carry a conservative slant. In fact, 72% of shows labeled “nonpolitical” were found to lean right, including household names like The Joe Rogan Experience and Full Send.

Conservatives also lead in engagement. Right-leaning channels have accumulated 65 billion YouTube views, roughly double the 31.5 billion for left-leaning shows, and platforms like Rumble continue to expand their reach.

It’s evident from the data that we are looking at more than a temporary fad. Over the last decade, the news media has undergone a structural shift where conservative voices now dominate the digital ecosystem and set the terms of public attention in ways legacy outlets can no longer match.

Complementing these trends, a June 2025 Pew survey showed that Democrats trust major national news far more than Republicans. This gap is more than political — it reflects decades of perceived bias and spent credibility on the part of the legacy media, which has driven conservatives to seek — and create — news elsewhere.

Progressives might comfort themselves with talking points about “misinformation” and conservative echo chambers. But the stark reality is that they are the ones stuck in an echo chamber forged by their own penchant for politically correct misinformation — even if it’s funded by big commercial budgets and lit up in shiny lights.

So what do all these revelations mean? Here are 10 key insights about the seismic media shift reshaping our culture.

1. Conservatives no longer need legacy media

This first point has already been hinted at, but it bears repeating.

The days of relying on big TV networks and newspapers are over. Conservatives have built their own online ecosystem — podcasts, YouTube channels, Rumble streams, and more — that not only rivals but often dwarfs traditional outlets.

By squandering the public’s trust, the mainstream media didn’t just push people away; it pushed them to build a parallel media infrastructure that’s now thriving on its own terms.

2. Scale advantage equals narrative control

With four times the audience online, conservatives have something incredibly powerful: the ability to set the tone for public conversation.

Younger, digital-native audiences aren’t watching the evening news — they’re getting their worldview from creators with massive followings.

And whoever controls the scale of attention ultimately shapes the debate — and the future of civilisation.

3. Nimble adapters win the day

While the legacy media is stuck trying to preserve its old distribution models, conservatives have proven far more nimble at adapting to whatever platforms are growing the fastest.

Whether it’s Rumble, TikTok, or long-form podcasts, conservative creators jump in early, build big audiences, and ride the wave. That adaptability is what keeps the ecosystem expanding.

4. Authenticity beats institutional authority

One reason conservative voices are connecting so strongly online is their style. They don’t look like polished, costumed anchors reading off teleprompters. They feel unscripted, anti-establishment, and most importantly, human.

That authenticity connects more with young digital audiences than any amount of institutional prestige — particularly so in an era where “official” voices are so distrusted.

5. Politics is spilling into everyday life

This isn’t just about talk radio or news podcasts anymore. Conservative-leaning voices are showing up in comedy, sports and entertainment — areas people don’t usually expect politics to intrude.

That cultural crossover matters because it spreads influence in subtle ways, embedding ideas into everyday life — and making it harder for the powers that be to suppress without appearing desperate and dystopian.

6. “Disinformation” policing is power preservation

This is where the “misinformation” and “disinformation” crusade comes in. Efforts to regulate, flag and silence certain narratives are less about chasing truth and more about hanging onto power.

It’s the establishment trying to reclaim the cultural clout they’ve lost. It’s a defensive scramble, and self-evidently not a display of strength.

7. Censoring conservatives only makes them stronger

Here’s the delicious irony: every time a conservative voice gets de-platformed or restricted, it doesn’t silence them — it supercharges their growth elsewhere. This phenomenon has come to be known as the Streisand effect.

Attempts to shut people down often drive audiences towards alternative platforms, accelerating the build-out of a parallel media ecosystem.

In effect, censorship efforts are making the alternative stronger, not weaker.

8. The gatekeepers are losing control

For decades, institutions like universities, Hollywood, and big media defined what counted as “legitimate” knowledge or commentary. That gatekeeping power is eroding fast.

Authority is being redistributed to independent creators who don’t need permission to build influence — they just need an internet connection and half-decent communication skills.

9. The legacy media has a legitimacy crisis

Mainstream outlets are still big, but their grip on credibility is slipping. For conservatives, the trust gap is enormous, and what authority the old media brands still carry looks more like institutional inertia than genuine audience loyalty.

The credibility monopoly they once held is broken — and once lost, it’s hard to rebuild.

10. Western culture is undergoing a realignment

Put it all together and this isn’t just a shift in where people get their news. It’s a much broader cultural realignment.

Authority is moving away from centralised, top-down institutions and towards decentralised, populist voices. That’s not just a media trend — it’s a reordering of how cultural power itself works.

And I, for one, am here for it.

BREAKING: Trump Files “POWERHOUSE” Lawsuit Against Rupert Murdoch, Two Wall Street Journal Reporters, Dow Jones and News Corp After WSJ Epstein Hit Piece | The Gateway Pundit

President Trump on Friday filed a libel lawsuit against Dow Jones, News Corp, Rupert Murdoch, and two Wall Street Journal reporters after the Wall Street Journal dropped a Jeffrey Epstein hit piece.

The case was filed in a Miami federal court, according to Reuters.

Copy of the complaint forthcoming.

The Wall Street Journal dropped a ‘hit piece’ on President Trump on Thursday evening.

According to the hit piece published by The Wall Street Journal, President Trump wrote Jeffrey Epstein a “bawdy” letter for his 50th birthday depicting a naked woman.

President Trump denied he wrote the letter.

Ghislaine Maxwell allegedly prepared a ‘special gift’ and collected letters written from Trump and other people.

“Maxwell collected letters from Trump and dozens of Epstein’s other associates for a 2003 birthday album, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal,” The Wall Street Journal reported.

“Pages from the leather-bound album—assembled before Epstein was first arrested in 2006—are among the documents examined by Justice Department officials who investigated Epstein and Maxwell years ago, according to people who have reviewed the pages. It’s unclear if any of the pages are part of the Trump administration’s recent review,” WSJ reported.

“The letter bearing Trump’s name, which was reviewed by the Journal, is bawdy—like others in the album. It contains several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker. A pair of small arcs denotes the woman’s breasts, and the future president’s signature is a squiggly “Donald” below her waist, mimicking pubic hair,” The Wall Street Journal reported.

Later Thursday, President Trump said he is going to sue The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch.

“The Wall Street Journal printed a FAKE letter, supposedly to Epstein. These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures. I told Rupert Murdoch it was a Scam, that he shouldn’t print this Fake Story. But he did, and now I’m going to sue his ass off, and that of his third rate newspaper. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said on Thursday night after the hit piece was published.

Trump announced the lawsuit on his Truth Social.

“BREAKING NEWS: We have just filed a POWERHOUSE Lawsuit against everyone involved in publishing the false, malicious, defamatory, FAKE NEWS “article” in the useless “rag” that is, The Wall Street Journal. This historic legal action is being brought against the so-called authors of this defamation, the now fully disgraced WSJ, as well as its corporate owners and affiliates, with Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson (whatever his role is!) at the top of the list. We have proudly held to account ABC and George Slopadopoulos, CBS and 60 Minutes, The Fake Pulitzer Prizes, and many others who deal in, and push, disgusting LIES, and even FRAUD, to the American People. This lawsuit is filed not only on behalf of your favorite President, ME, but also in order to continue standing up for ALL Americans who will no longer tolerate the abusive wrongdoings of the Fake News Media. I hope Rupert and his “friends” are looking forward to the many hours of depositions and testimonies they will have to provide in this case. Thank you for your attention to this matter. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Biden regime gave millions to left-wing news media that spread misformation | WINTERY KNIGHT

I worked with a secular Jewish guy named Tom for several years. I disagreed with him on topics like Darwinism and global warming alarmism. One day, Tom got very angry and he told me that I was living in a bubble, because I believed that the corporate news media was biased. So I showed him some peer-reviewed studies that proved that they were biased. Needless to say, he was not happy.

But what remained to be proved is WHY is the corporate news media so biased. Is it because smart people are naturally secular leftists? Or is there another reason.

Here’s an article from The Federalist that explains the real reason that the corporate news media is biased to the left:

Federal agencies have been funneling millions to leftist media outlets including The Associated Press, Politico, Reuters, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN, according to public grant disclosures.

These legacy corporations have fashioned themselves the gatekeepers of information to the American public. But ever since 2015, when now-President Donald Trump announced his first campaign — and even earlier — they have spewed lie after lie in an attempt to control the political narrative.

Associated Press:

The Associated Press, an “independent news cooperative,” has received $37.5 million from the federal government over the last 15-plus years, according to public spending data.

Politico:

Politico has received $34.3 million from the federal government since 2015, according to government spending data published by Liz Wheeler.

Reuters:

Reuters has received $10.6 million from federal agencies starting in 2020, according to government grant data.

New York Times:

The New York Times has received $2.7 million total from federal agencies since 2008, according to government spending data.

Washington Post:

The Washington Post has accepted $1.7 million from federal agencies starting in 2014, according to public data.

CNN:

CNN has received nearly $220,000 from the federal government, according to government grant disclosures.

Did these “payments” cause the corporate news media to spread disinformation, misinformation and false news so that their Democrat paymasters could stay in power?

What about the Trump-Russia collusion story?

Soon after Trump began his first term, outlets like The New York Times amplified and advanced the “Russiagate” collusion narrative, which turned out to be a hoax. Its website still features a section on “Trump and the Russians,” filled with hit pieces from 2017. In fact, all six outlets that have taken federal funding — The AP, Politico, Reuters, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN — amplified this narrative.

But it later turned out that the dossier of former British spy Christopher Steele — the impetus for many of these conspiracy theories, as well as the FBI’s spying on the Trump campaign — was fabricated, as The Federalist previously reported. And even more concerning, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign paid for it.

What about deliberately misquoting Trump to help the Democrat party?

Still, these outlets served as anti-Trump megaphones through his entire first term. CNN and Reuters repeated phony stories from anonymous sources, such as the smear that Trump supposedly called fallen U.S. soldiers “suckers” and “losers.” The New York Times amplified quotes taken out of context, such as when Trump referred to “very fine people on both sides” of the Charlottesville, Virginia, protests — omitting his comment that “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.”

What about the Hunter Biden laptop is Russian disinformation story?

In the crucial days before the 2020 election, CNN dismissed the New York Post’s story exposing the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop, and Politico editors allegedly buried the story at the time, designating it “disinformation.” It turned out the Hunter Biden laptop story was true, and as revealed in the Twitter Files, Democrats and federal officials worked with Big Tech to suppress it. A poll found 80 percent of respondents thought the story would have changed the outcome of the 2020 election.

And the spreading of misinformation to help the Democrat party was amplified by far-left Big Tech corporations like Google, who intentionally steered users to left-wing news sources in the corporate news media.

Here’s a report from the New York Post:

Google’s already left-leaning news aggregator platform Google News skewed even more off the charts in 2023, according to a recent analysis.

Media company AllSides’ latest bias analysis found that 63% of articles that appeared on Google News over two weeks were from left-leaning media outlets — a 2% increase from 2022, when 61% of articles on the aggregator were from liberal outlets.

By contrast, the number of right-leaning news sources picked up by Google News in 2023 was 6%, a relative improvement from the paltry 3% the previous year.

The article notes that the study authors did not consider Reuters to be a left-wing source. If you consider Reuters to be a left-wing source, as I do, then 67% of the articles on Google News were linking to left-wing sources. At what point does this become election interference? We should by all means cut off the taxpayer-funding for the corporate news media. And then cut off the taxpayer-funded for NPR and PBS. Then we can investigate how Big Tech companies like Facebook and Google used their products to favor the Democrat party, especially to interfere in our elections.

White House Reporters Mystified By Press Secretary Who Answers Questions | Babylon Bee

Article Image

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the first briefing by Karoline Leavitt, White House press reporters expressed surprise and consternation due to having a press secretary who actually answered their questions.

The experience came as a stark departure from what the press pool journalists had experienced for the last four years, leaving them confounded by getting the information they asked for without continual runaround and evasion.

“What… what is this madness?” asked Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy. “I should go get myself checked out by a doctor. I must be hallucinating. I had some type of waking dream today where I was in the White House briefing room, and there was this blonde woman there. And… and I asked her a question… and she just… answered. She just answered the question. There’s no way it was real, right? That doesn’t happen, does it?”

Members of the media expressed suspicion that something was amiss at the briefing. “It just felt off,” said CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “There was something truly unsettling about being in there, asking questions, and getting straight answers. None of us were used to working that way, so we weren’t sure what to do. Do we, like, write down her answers? Report them to our viewers? Is that how it goes? I’m asking because I genuinely don’t know.”

Sources said the press was caught off-guard by how quickly and efficiently the briefing was, having been used to it meandering in a painfully awkward way for several hours.

At publishing time, White House officials advised Leavitt to attempt to obfuscate her answers somewhat so as to not send the reporters into shock next time.

Who Owns The Media? There Are 6 Monolithic Corporations That Control Almost Everything We Watch, Hear And Read | The Economic Collapse

We live in a society that is literally addicted to consuming media content.  Unfortunately, control of that content is dominated by just a handful of ultra-powerful corporations.  Back in 1983, the media industry was controlled by a group of about 50 large companies.  Today, the media industry is controlled by just 6 gigantic corporations.  They own television networks, streaming services, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and even many of our favorite websites.  Sadly, most of us don’t ever stop to think about who is feeding us the endless hours of news, sports and entertainment that we constantly ingest.  But we should.  The truth is that each of us is tremendously influenced by the messages that are constantly being poured into our heads.  We are addicted to the “programming”, and we just keep coming back for more.  Most of us spend multiple hours each day consuming media content, and many of us actually begin to feel physically uncomfortable if we go too long without watching or listening to something.

The six corporations that collectively control the media industry are Disney, Time Warner, National Amusements, News Corporation, Comcast and Sony.  Collectively, the “big six” absolutely dominate news and entertainment in the United States.  If the “big six” were a country, they would have the 26th largest GDP in the world.  But even those areas of the media that the “big six” do not completely control are becoming increasingly concentrated.  For example, iHeartMedia now owns over 1,200 radio stations in the United States, and companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook are increasingly dominating the Internet.

When you control what Americans watch, hear and read, you acquire a great deal of influence over what they think.

The content that they produce for us is called “programming” for a reason.

The power to shape our culture is the power to alter the future of our society.  We have witnessed seismic cultural shifts in recent decades, and the media industry has been the driving force behind many of those shifts.

These gigantic media conglomerates are much larger than most people realize.  Below, I have listed just a sampling of some of the media properties that are owned and controlled by the “big six”…

Big tech companies such as Amazon, Apple and Netflix have started to produce their own content in recent years, but their content is nearly indistinguishable from that produced by the “big six”.

The primary goal of these behemoths is to make money.

So they aren’t going to do anything that will threaten their relationships with their biggest advertisers.  This is one of the reasons why large pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars on advertising.  They realize that executives at these companies will be desperate to keep the gravy train rolling, and so negative coverage of pharmaceutical companies will be almost non-existent.

Fortunately, an increasing number of people are starting to wake up and are realizing that the media industry should not be trusted.

In fact, a Gallup survey that was conducted in October 2024 found that only 31 percent of Americans have a “great deal” or a “fair amount” of confidence in the mainstream media to report the news “fully, accurately and fairly”.

The good news is that as the mainstream media loses credibility, the alternative media is growing.

Americans are starting to look elsewhere for the truth, and that has allowed independent journalists such as myself to flourish.

Of course the establishment has responded by aggressively censoring the alternative media, but now that we have a new administration in Washington that is anti-censorship, hopefully we will see some significant changes.

Every day, we are in a battle for hearts and minds.  Most of the population is still plugged into “the matrix” and still consumes endless hours of “programming” that is produced by the “big six”.  Meanwhile, those of us in the alternative media are desperately trying to get people to wake up and think for themselves.

Sadly, even most people that think that they are “awake” are still being very heavily influenced by movies, television shows and news programs.

The “programming” that they are constantly offering to us is so seductive, and very few are able to break the addiction entirely.

NBC News cuts about 40 staffers as layoffs hit news media | Business Insider

  • NBC News became the latest news outlet to make cuts, laying off about 40 staffers.
  • The roles are scattered, and people are being encouraged to apply for some new roles, mostly in digital.
  • TV news viewership has declined as audiences seek out news on social media and streaming platforms.

NBC News became the latest news organization to make staff cuts this month. The network cut about 40 roles, or 2% to 3% of the company, as it shifts its focus to growth areas.

The roles were scattered across the organization, though some employees shared the perception that teams focused on covering culture and diverse populations were particularly impacted. Another insider said no diversity news teams were eliminated and that there are still eight digital news staffers covering diverse communities.

Apart from the layoffs, about 12 new positions will be created, mostly in digital news. NBC News is encouraging those laid off to apply. The network is also hiring for over 50 other positions.

TV news is in flux. Linear TV news viewership has declined as people get more of their news on social media and streaming video. CNN just laid off 200, or about 6% of its workforce, as it shifts resources from linear TV to digital. The Washington Post, HuffPost, and Vox Media also conducted layoffs in 2025.

NBC News is set to face a big change when Comcast’s NBCUniversal spins off several of its slower-growing cable brethren, including CNBC, into a new company later this year. The plan has left some at NBC News wondering how the spin will affect newsgathering efforts since it relies on CNBC’s reporting. Comcast is positioning the move as a way to grow by acquiring other channels.

Taibbi: Trust In The Media Can’t Be Fixed, Not One Journalist Has Come Forward To Say “Yeah, We Screwed Up” | RealClearPolitics Videos

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi on FOX News Saturday night talked to host Brian Kilmeade about not being able to trust the facts that the media feeds consumers. “Trust is a human thing,” Taibbi told Kilmeade. “You can’t mechanize it. And in the journalism business when you make mistakes you have to stand in front of the camera and own up to it or else audiences will never again trust you. And there are years and years of errors about major consequential news cycle-dominating stories like Russiagate and COVID where the networks and major dailies have simply not come forward and said ‘Yeah, we screwed up’ and they have to do that if they’re going to get audience back. But they refuse to and I just don’t think that’s — they’re ever going to learn.”
BRIAN KILMEADE, FOX NEWS: For the Zuckerbucks, it kind of showed where he stood and how he wanted to put his hand on the scale in those trouble in those problematic districts for Democrats. He just flooded him with money but that was so 2020. I want to talk about your recent column. You say why America’s loss of trust in the media can’t be fixed why do you think so?

MATT TAIBBI: Well I think for a certain sector of the corporate press they’ve just made so many mistakes and not owned up to them that I think it’s going to be a bridge too far for most audiences. Trust is a human thing. You can’t mechanize it. And in the journalism business when you make mistakes you have to stand in front of the camera and own up to it or else audiences will never again trust you. And there are years and years of errors about major consequential news cycle-dominating stories like Russiagate and COVID where the networks and major dailies have simply not come forward and said “Yeah, we screwed up” and they have to do that if they’re going to get audience back. But they refuse to and I just don’t think that’s — they’re ever going to learn.

KILMEADE: I just talked about how there seems to be a little bit of fairness creeping back into other networks, little by little. Am I too optimistic am I seeing something that’s not there are you picking up on some of that?

TAIBBI: I definitely pick up on it. And I think what you’re what you’re seeing Brian is most of the people I would have called my colleagues before 2016, a lot of us don’t really care about politics all that much. I think we most of us like the job. Which is just sort of telling people what’s happening. So there is some enthusiasm I think within some of these organizations to going back to what journalism is which is a much simpler and less fraught kind of work where you get to sleep at night and not feel bad about misleading people. And, yeah, I think you’re going to start to see that creep back into the into the business, hopefully.

KILMEADE: Have you have you have you is your viewpoint of your business changed over the last couple years after what you’ve been through?

TAIBBI: Oh, completely. I don’t trust anything that the major organization say anymore. It’s funny because a long time ago I interviewed, of all people, Noam Chomsky about you know companies like the New York Times and the Washington Post and NBC and all these places and he said “Even when you most mistrust them you could always find facts in those places.”

Well, we reached a stage in the last couple years where you can’t even trust the facts. And that was that was a very dark place to reach as a journalist. And I hope they turn it around because I don’t know anybody who really trusts what’s going on in corporate press anymore.

It’s Not Just MSNBC – CNN’s Ratings Also Tank After Trump’s Victory – Leftist Media in Total Freefall! | The Gateway Pundit

Rachel Maddow / MSNBC

After Donald Trump’s landslide victory against Kamala Harris, even leftists and liberals are tuning out of the televisions channels they were once glued to.

According to Nielsen ratings obtained by Mediaite, both MSNBC and CNN have since their ratings tank after last week’s unforgettable presidential election.

The report states:

MSNBC saw its audience crater on Thursday and Friday, just days after the left-of-center network beat CNN in election night ratings for the first time ever.

Thursday’s total average daily viewers on Fox News came in at 2.6 million and 375,000 in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen data.

Meanwhile, MSNBC brought in only 596,000 total viewers and 71,000 in the demo. CNN brought in 419,000 total viewers on Thursday and 91,000 viewers in the demo.

Meanwhile, the two channels were obliterated by the conservative leaning Fox News, which despite previously betraying its audience is clearly benefitting from Trump’s incredible victory.

Mediaite continues:

Fox News was up some 60 percent year over year for the day, while MSNBC and CNN were down 23 and 40 percent – respectively.

In prime time the news was even more bleak for CNN and MSNBC as they shed 30 percent and 54 percent of their viewers, respectively, compared to the same day last year.

MSNBC host Alex Wagner had her lowest-rated show ever in terms of total viewers, while Chris Hayes’s show brought in its worst numbers since May of 2016.

On Friday, seven MSNBC programs recorded their lowest Friday ratings for the year as the network also saw its lowest-rated Friday prime time programming of the year — outside of holiday weekends.

Post-election, Fox News averaged 4.4 million total viewers Wednesday to Friday in prime time and 701,000 viewers in the demo.

MSNBC brought in 808,000 total viewers for the same period and 90,000 demo viewers. CNN, meanwhile, saw 611,000 total average prime time viewers and 159,000 average demo viewers.

While mainstream media networks are disliked and distrusted by the majority of Americans who recognize them as the Democratic Party propaganda machines that they are, such figures suggest that even their most loyal viewers are turning off the television.

However, there may be glimmers of hope for the likes of CNN and MSNBC. During the last Trump presidency, both channels performed well as millions of leftists tuned in to make themselves feel better.

Over his four years in office, both channels dedicated thousands of hours to the discredited Russia hoax, giving their viewers hope that Trump may somehow be arrested and imprisoned for colluding with Vlaidmir Putin in a bid to win the 2016 presidential election.

As we enter Trump’s third and final act, it is unclear what the future holds for both MSNBC and CNN. Yet if these current trends continue, the future may be looking very bleak indeed.
