THE FOUNDATION

“No compact among men … can be pronounced everlasting and inviolable, and if I may so express myself, that no Wall of words, that no mound of parchment can be so formed as to stand against the sweeping torrent of boundless ambition on the one side, aided by the sapping current of corrupted morals on the other.” —George Washington (1789)

IN TODAY’S DIGEST

EXECUTIVE NEWS SUMMARY

The Editors

  • Winter storm leaves a mark: An unusually large and powerful winter storm has nearly finished dumping a colossal amount of snow and ice on the U.S. after it traveled from Arizona to Maine. Over three-quarters of a million Americans experienced power outages, with many regions warning that turning the lights back on will be a slow process. Making these long power outages even worse, reinforcing shots of bitterly cold Arctic air are forecast to move over the eastern half of the U.S. through at least next week. Nine deaths have been attributed to the storm so far — seven in the South, one in Kansas, and one in Massachusetts. Southern states saw freezing rain and ice that brought down trees and power lines, while northern states saw over 18 inches of snow.
  • Comer suggests leaving Minnesota to its fate: With the shooting death of anti-ICE agitator Alex Pretti by ICE agents over the weekend in Minneapolis, which has served to fuel even more anti-ICE sentiments, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer suggested that the Trump administration pull back on immigration enforcement in Minnesota. “If I were President Trump, I would almost think about, OK, if the mayor and the governor are going to put our ICE officials in harm’s way and there’s a chance of losing more, you know, innocent lives or whatever, then maybe go to another city and let the people of Minneapolis decide, ‘Do we want to continue to have all of these illegals? Are we going to allow our governor, attorney general, and mayor to get away with this?’” A number of Republican lawmakers are also calling for a full investigation into Pretti’s death.
  • Dems gear up for another shutdown over ICE: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is signaling that the budget will not be passed by the deadline this Friday, and another shutdown may be looming. Congress has been passing the budget in separate appropriations bills this month rather than via the titanic omnibus bills seen too often in recent years, but DHS funding is unlikely to make it past Senate Democrats. Senators Schumer, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Jack Reed have suggested dropping the DHS bill and passing the remaining five bills for other government departments. Others have suggested reworking the DHS bill, although time is limited for that with the deadline looming and the Senate out of session today due to inclement weather. Schumer’s grandstanding comes in response to the deaths of two leftist agitators who were killed as they impeded ongoing law enforcement operations.
  • Don Lemon should be arrested: On Saturday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit declined the DOJ’s request to overturn a Minnesota magistrate judge’s refusal to approve arrest warrants for five anti-ICE agitators who stormed and disrupted a St. Paul, Minnesota, church’s worship service. Among the individuals the DOJ sought to arrest was former CNN personality Don Lemon. While the Eighth Circuit Court refused to overturn the judge, it concluded that the DOJ met the probable cause standard for charging Lemon and the other agitators. Lemon, meanwhile, sought to frame himself as completely innocent and insisted that the Trump administration would “go around a judge” in its efforts to prosecute him. Lemon continued to paint himself as not one of the agitators, despite participating in and defending the action as a legitimate protest.
  • Virginia Dems push for highest income tax in nation: California currently imposes the highest income tax in the nation, but may not much longer if Democrats in Virginia get their way. Democrat legislators in the Commonwealth introduced legislation that would effectively increase Virginia’s top income tax rate to 13.8%. These lawmakers are couching the tax hike as making “millionaires pay their fair share of taxes.” They want to increase the state government’s annual revenue by $1 billion to fund a range of increases in welfare-related services, including education, housing, and public services. The irony is that new Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger focused her campaign on making Virginia affordable. This legislation would produce the exact opposite, but Spanberger has proven that her campaign messaging was intended to deceive, not inform voters of her intentions.
  • Canada backs down on China deal: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visited China last week and said the country would embrace a partnership with that nation for the new world order. During Carney’s visit, the two countries proposed a deal to lower tariffs on Chinese EVs and Canadian agricultural products. Carney went so far as to blast the use of tariffs in a speech to the World Economic Forum, a comment that was likely directed at the U.S. president. Donald Trump said he would not allow Canada to serve as “a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China” to send products into the U.S. He then threatened to impose a 100% tariff on Canadian products if Canada signed the proposed deal with China. Since then, Carney has backed off the deal, saying his country has no plans to pursue it.
  • Secret weapon against Venezuela? “The Discombobulator. I’m not allowed to talk about it,” said President Trump right before he revealed that it had been used in the extraction of Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela. Both Trump and Venezuelan sources have attested to the use of a secret weapon that neutralized Venezuelan air defenses, communications, and command systems before U.S. helicopters entered Caracas. “They never got their rockets off. They pressed buttons, and nothing worked,” Trump remarked. The details of the weapon remain classified, but several Venezuelan witnesses on the ground confirmed that something “like a very intense sound wave” was launched that shut down all their foreign-supplied radar and defense systems, incapacitating their ability to respond. The Trump-dubbed “discombobulator” did its job to bring about the detention of Maduro, demonstrating American dominance.
  • Orwellian “kill switch” speeds ahead: Sometimes when Congress is trying to accomplish big things, like fund the Departments of War, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, and Health and Human Services, smaller things can slip through the cracks. But when that “smaller thing” is a kill switch that will automatically shut off an American’s car, voters understandably get angry. Rep. Thomas Massie proposed an amendment to be added to the funding bill that would counter a Biden-era requirement to develop a kill switch in cars aimed at stopping drunk driving. Massie’s amendment failed when 76 Republicans voted with Democrats against it. Opponents of the kill switch have rightly called it Orwellian; the pressure will be on for Republicans to propose clean legislation to kill the kill switch.
  • Mullahs have killed more than 30,000 protesters: The total number of Iranian protesters slain in the Islamic government’s crackdown on widespread protests across the country since December 28 has been difficult to ascertain. The official state media has put the total killed at just over 3,000, while the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency has placed the estimate at just under 5,000. Data from Iranian doctors puts the total at 16,500. However, a recent report from two senior Iranian Ministry of Health officials estimates the number to be more than 30,000. And that number came in just two days — January 8 and 9. Those killed were primarily by gunshot wounds, which would be in line with the Iranian regime’s use of military forces to quell the protests. If these numbers are accurate, it would represent the single largest mass killing by a government’s forces against its own people in the modern era.

FEATURED ANALYSIS

Armed Subversive Shot in Minneapolis

Douglas Andrews

First things first: We here in our shop roundly reject the use of deadly force against peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment rights. Of course, nothing like that has happened in the sanctuary state of Minnesota or anywhere else, and we commend our law enforcement officers for their remarkable restraint amid untold thousands of tension-filled encounters with not-so-peaceful provocateurs.

And because of this, we can say unequivocally: Had Renee Good and Alex Pretti been peaceful protesters rather than violent agitators obstructing federal law enforcement operations, they’d be alive today. Full stop.

The video of the Pretti shooting is grim, as shootings always are.

As The Wall Street Journal reports, “In the hours after the shooting, the Department of Homeland Security alleged that Pretti ‘violently resisted’ disarmament until officers fired ‘defensive shots.’ But bystander footage … contradicts that version of events. The footage appears to show a federal officer pulling a handgun away from Pretti. Less than a second later, an agent fires several rounds.”

That’s a troubling assessment, to be sure, and it appears that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem got a bit out over her skis in her initial explanation of events. But prudent people, from President Donald Trump all the way down, are right to refrain from rendering a judgment until all the facts are in, all the officers involved have been interviewed, and all the video footage has been thoroughly reviewed.

“We’re looking, we’re reviewing everything and will come out with a determination,” said the president yesterday during a five-minute phone interview with the Journal. “I don’t like any shooting. But I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest, and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two magazines loaded up with bullets also. That doesn’t play good either.”

Minnesota is a right-to-carry state, and Pretti was indeed carrying — which he had every right to do. But one has to question the wisdom of wading into a tense law enforcement operation with a loaded weapon if your intent is merely to peacefully protest. In any case, it’s rather rich to see all these leftists suddenly finding their religion on Second Amendment rights.

As our Mark Alexander, himself a former law enforcement officer, notes, “In a confrontation with police, there is no obligation that they stop and ask about your carry permit. That’s a red herring. And it’s not clear whether, when resisting arrest, Pretti, at some point, reached for his weapon.”

If only Minnesota’s state and local law enforcement officials were working with their federal brothers rather than against them. To this point, President Trump took to ALL CAPS to say, “LET OUR ICE PATRIOTS DO THEIR JOB!” while adding that failed Governor Tim Walz and insurrectionist Mayor Jacob Frey “are inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric!”

In addition, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that he’s sending Border Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota. “He has not been involved in that area,” said Trump, “but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.” Homan, as you’ll recall, is the career law-enforcement professional who was presented with the nation’s highest civil service award by none other than Barack Obama — and then promptly branded a Nazi when he answered Donald Trump’s call to service.

Speaking of Nazis, I give you Governor Walz, who disgracefully demagogued over the weekend, “We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody’s gonna write that children’s story about Minnesota.”

If only somebody would write a children’s story about the need for a civil society to enforce its laws. And about the difference between peaceful protest and violent insurrection.

A War Has Erupted On The Streets Of America, And It Is Going To End With Martial Law In Major U.S. Cities | The Economic Collapse

Chaos has erupted in the streets of major cities all over this country, and it appears that we have reached a boiling point which could cause events to completely spiral out of control.  We knew that there was no way that the Trump administration was going to back down on immigration enforcement, and we knew that there was no way that the left was going to back down and allow ICE to conduct mass deportations without resistance.  In fact, the left now has “response teams” that literally operate like military units in cities such as Chicago, Minneapolis and New York City.  So it was inevitable that we would see more violent confrontations, and now another protester has died.  The left is promising to fight back harder than ever, and President Trump is seriously considering invoking the Insurrection Act.  As both sides continue to raise the stakes, it is just a matter of time before this crisis ends with martial law in major U.S. cities.

Every time a protester dies, it is just going to make things even worse.

Following the death of 37-year-old Alex Pretti, enormous protests immediately erupted in Minneapolis, New York, Washington and Los Angeles

Protests erupted in multiple U.S. cities after a U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot Alex Pretti, a 37‑year‑old intensive care unit nurse, during a federal immigration operation in Minneapolis, escalating tensions over immigration enforcement and prompting Democratic lawmakers to demand that federal officers leave Minnesota.

Demonstrations broke out in Minneapolis, New York, Washington and Los Angeles, with hundreds braving subzero temperatures in Minnesota to confront federal agents in a city already shaken by another fatal shooting involving an ICE officer earlier this month.

Things got particularly crazy in Minneapolis.

James O’Keefe and his team were surrounded by hundreds of rioters, and he is claiming that they barely made it out of there alive

It takes a lot of courage to venture into a situation like that in the first place, because the streets of Minneapolis are a war zone at this stage.

In a subsequent post, O’Keefe described how lawless things have become in the downtown area

URGENT UPDATE: I’ve never experienced anything quite like today in my life. I’ve interacted with the Cartel and have witnessed some crazy things in the desert in ‘24. But what strikes me is how organized these agitators in Minneapolis are. They have spotters everywhere in the city and suburbs, on street corners, even 30 minutes away from downtown. They have people at hotels that work with them and signal to them which made it making it difficult for us to lose our tail once my cover was blown. Usually I lose a tail. Not this time. We switched locations THREE times. I recorded and posted this while leaving Wayzata, while they were STILL surveilling. We all agreed we must make the threats public ASAP, even if we had people still in the field with the hidden cams.

Earlier around noon, while @camhigby released his report on the Signal threads, I was inside what appeared to be a fully autonomous Zone. No police presence. The police were told to leave. I identified myself as Press and they said they will kill Press and will not let me leave. My skin was fully covered because it was so cold. But because they couldn’t verify who I was, they screamed and started throwing ice bottles at us. One hit, @SKRUCHTENMMA, a marine who was with me. They patted him down like THEY were the authorities, attempting to confiscate any weapons. They were set to destroy our vehicle before we even got to it. I will have a full video report shortly.

But the bigger picture here is more important. I am angry. But not at the agitators. I find myself already angry at the people who don’t understand what we’re dealing with and will do nothing about it. When I got to the suburbs I felt like I was in a simulation.

I believe the American people need to wake up. This moment is a warning about where we’re headed. Fear pushes people to care only about their money and their families—I get it. But when fear turns inward, when self-preservation and greed replace moral courage, evil goes unchallenged. And history shows that what we ignore today will come for all of us tomorrow.

In that post, O’Keefe mentioned a report that was released by Cam Higby.

Apparently Higby had infiltrated the Signal groups that the left is using to direct the activities of their “response teams”…

Let’s begin with citizen journalist Cam Higby’s bombshell reporting, who says he “infiltrated organizational signal groups all around Minneapolis with the sole intention of tracking down federal agents and impeding/assaulting/and obstructing them.”

Each area of the city has a Signal group, or in some cases multiple groups. Let’s start with a screen recording of all members of the south side group,” Higby said.

Spotters on the ground flag license plates that are then run through a database of suspected federal vehicles, and if a match is found specific instructions are sent out through the Signal groups to units that are specifically tasked with impeding ICE…

Higby describes spending several days undercover deep within left-wing activist Signal groups that coordinate pressure campaigns against ICE agents. He notes that members use emojis to designate their specific roles and responsibilities.

According to Higby, the group’s core operations include organizing mobile patrols that continuously search for suspected federal vehicles. When a vehicle is flagged, its details are shared with designated “plate checkers,” who cross-reference the information against a database of known federal assets and update the records if a match is confirmed.

Dispatch runs a maxed-out call all day, telling protesters where ICE has been spotted and how they can best be impeded,” he said.

These leftists are running a very sophisticated operation, and it appears that local police are cooperating with them on at least some level…

I have never seen anything like this before.

At one point some of the rioters decided to try to set up an “autonomous zone” in the part of the city where Alex Pretti was killed

Left-wing rioters erected barricades in the streets of Minneapolis after Border Patrol agents fatally shot a man in possession of a gun Saturday.

Alex Pretti, 37, was killed during what a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement described as a “targeted” enforcement operation at 9:05 a.m. local time, triggering riots. Jorge Ventura, reporting for the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), posted video of one such barricade made with dumpsters and trash cans Saturday afternoon.

“Protesters have blocked and barricaded multiple streets near the shooting, many people from out of town are starting to arrive here in Minneapolis and despite the massive amounts of tear gas used by authorities, the crowd is only getting bigger,” Ventura says.

Ventura told the DCNF that Minneapolis police and the Minnesota State Patrol “are letting them take to the streets” and not making any effort to remove the barricades. The Minneapolis Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.

It is difficult for me to put the chaos that we are witnessing into words.

Fox’s Garrett Tenney was on the scene as these rioters were setting up the “autonomous zone”, and he was quite shaken by what he saw

We’ve got a couple thousand protesters here, just completely filling this entire area. And one of the chants you heard them saying, for the last few minutes, is “Keep this block.” They’ve set up barricades blocking off this entire area that were removed by police initially. They have now moved those garbage trucks, the tables, the chairs, and they’re saying that they are going to keep this almost making it an autonomous zone.

They were chanting before that, “Whose streets? Our streets.” And that is significant, because, as we’ve talked about, Governor Tim Walz said, we have the forces that we need to secure this area; we don’t need the federal agents here. We saw, though, what happened as soon as the federal agents left this area, local and state police were completely overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of protesters that were here and got driven out of this area altogether. So, clearly they did not have the forces they needed to secure this area, then. The question is going forward into tonight, when things tend to get a little dicier, will they have the forces to control and to secure the city as a whole, or is it going to be a repeat?

The local police are pretty much standing down and allowing the rioters to do whatever they want.

Apparently some of the rioters were even brandishing guns

We keep being told that the protesters are “peaceful”, but they aren’t peaceful at all.

They physically confront ICE officers wherever they can find them, and these confrontations often turn violent.

In fact, we just witnessed one incident in which an ICE officer had his finger bitten off

In a disturbing incident amid ongoing anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis, a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officer had his finger bitten off by a rioter, according to a post from Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security.

McLaughlin shared graphic photos on X, showing the injured officer sitting in a vehicle, his uniform caked in mud, as a gloved hand tends to his mangled finger.

One image shows the severed fingertip, bloodied and raw, and another shows it preserved in a small plastic container, presumably for medical evaluation.

McLaughlin confirmed that the officer will lose the finger.

We all knew that there would be more violence.

Of course there is no way that the Trump administration will back down and allow the left to claim victory.

That is not the way that President Trump operates.

And after everything that has transpired, there is no way that the left is going to back down either.

So a lot more violence is coming.

It probably won’t be too long before President Trump invokes the Insurrection Act.

But that certainly won’t be the end of it either.

Ultimately, I believe that we will see martial law in major U.S. cities, and that will be extremely unfortunate.

Top Democrats Choose To Stir The Pot By Calling On Anti-ICE Rioters To Escalate Matters | End Of The American Dream

When there is rioting in the streets, it is the responsibility of all politicians to calm people down.  If we are going to have a civilized nation, we must resolve our differences peacefully.  So when there is violence in the streets like we are witnessing in Minnesota right now, for the good of the country our leaders need to call for peace.  But instead of doing that, some top Democrats are choosing to stir things up even more.  This is exceedingly irresponsible, and a lot more people could end up dying as a result.

There is a very important question about the crisis in Minnesota that most people are not asking.

When Alex Pretti died, what was ICE trying to do?

The answer is that ICE was attempting to deport an illegal immigrant with a criminal record that had been involved in domestic violence

The accused criminal migrant in the operation that resulted in the shooting death of a Minneapolis anti-ICE protester Saturday has been identified as illegal alien Jose Huerta-Chuma.

Huerta-Chuma, of Ecuador, was arrested by Department of Homeland Security officers on Saturday and apprehended for driving without a license, according to Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino and the Washington Times.

Huerta-Chuma’s criminal record includes charges for domestic assault, disorderly conduct, and driving without a license, federal authorities said.

The mainstream media isn’t even talking about this.

Alex Pretti never should have been there.

He needlessly died trying to prevent the feds from deporting a violent domestic predator.

It is time for top Democrats to tell the rioters to go home.

If there are concerns about the tactics that ICE is using, they need to be addressed using legal means.

Civil conflict is not good for the country, but some top Democrats continue to stir the pot.

For example, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling on the left to “mobilize against what we know is wrong”

Do not let this administration intimidate you out of using your First Amendment right to organize and mobilize against what we know is wrong.

We must remember: we outnumber them.

We can’t allow them to divide us. We must stay united to fight for a better future for all of us.

Physically impeding federal law enforcement officers from legally doing their jobs is against the law.

Any politician that calls for protesters to do that is stoking rebellion against the federal government.

When AOC stated that “we outnumber them”, she was suggesting something very sinister.

I don’t think that she even understands how far over the line she has gone.

Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar is using rhetoric that is even more heated

More incitement came from Minnesota Representative and Squad member Ilhan Omar, who posted the video to X and wrote that it appears to be “an execution by immigration enforcement.”

“I am absolutely heartbroken, horrified, and appalled that federal agents murdered another member of our community. It is beyond shameful these federal agents are targeting our residents instead of protecting them,” she wrote, lying for maximum effect to target ICE agents.

She went on to claim that the incident “isn’t isolated or accidental,” and charged that the Trump administration is “trying to beat us into submission rather than protect us.”

“This administration cannot continue violating constitutional rights under the guise of immigration enforcement. ICE and CBP must leave Minnesota immediately,” Omar wrote. “Their presence is terrorizing our communities, violating rights, and taking lives with zero accountability.”

Federal officials certainly did not “target” Alex Pretti.

It was actually the other way around.

Alex Pretti was there to physically confront federal officials and prevent them from doing their jobs.

If he would have just allowed them to do their jobs he would still be alive today.

Of course many top Democrats are putting all of the blame on ICE officers and are putting none of the blame on the protesters.  In fact, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz just held a press conference in which he compared the Trump administration’s immigration policies to Nazi Germany

‘We believe in law and order in this state. In this state, we believe in peace, and we believe that Donald Trump needs to pull these 3,000 untrained agents out of Minnesota before they kill another person.’

During the press conference, Walz compared America’s immigration laws to Nazi Germany, saying: ‘Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.’

He knows that this kind of talk is going to stir people up even more.

But I think that is what he wants.

You would think that someone like Barack Obama would take a more sober approach, but even he is choosing to stir things up

Obama placed the blame for Pretti’s death, along with the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in the same city, squarely on the shoulders of the ICE and Border Patrol officers involved, and with Trump administration officials who have defended them.

The Democrat politician said the federal agents caused the deaths by using ’embarrassing, lawless and cruel tactics’ which have endangered US citizens.

He also slammed government officials for being ‘eager to escalate the situation while offering public explanations for the shooting that aren’t informed by any serious investigations – and that appear to be directly contradicted by video evidence’.

We now have a situation where neither side intends to back down.

The Trump administration cannot afford to back down now because allowing the rioters in Minnesota to win would make President Trump look very weak, and that is something that the White House is desperate to avoid.

And the protesters have absolutely no intention of backing down after the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.  Instead, they are gearing up for the next round of the fight.

So more people are going to get hurt.

In Washington, we could actually see a government shutdown by the end of this week because some Senate Democrats are vowing not to vote for any bill that contains funding for ICE

The U.S. government is nearing the brink of a partial shutdown by the end of the week after federal immigration agents shot and killed a U.S. citizen in Minnesota on Saturday, the second such incident this month.

The Senate is set to vote this week on a massive House-passed $1.2 trillion package to fund the Department of Homeland Security, along with a wide swath of government, before the Jan. 30 deadline. But the shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis is now threatening to derail the funding package as a growing chorus of Democrats warns they will oppose it unless funding for the Department of Homeland Security is stripped out.

This is a very serious situation.

It takes 60 votes for a bill to advance in the Senate, and Chuck Schumer knows that he is holding all the cards

The rapidly escalating opposition to the measure, which includes $64.4 billion for the Department of Homeland Security, including $10 billion for ICE, amplified the likelihood of a partial government shutdown at the end of the month. The legislation requires the support of Democrats to muster the 60 votes needed to avoid a filibuster and advance in the Senate.

“Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the D.H.S. funding bill is included,” Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, said in a statement, calling what is unfolding in Minnesota “appalling” and “unacceptable in any American city.”

Now that Schumer has drawn a line in the sand, it is unclear how this crisis is going to be resolved any time soon.

President Trump is certainly not going to give Schumer what he wants.

Instead, I believe that President Trump may soon invoke the Insurrection Act.

In a very long post on Truth Social, President Trump actually accused Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz of “inciting Insurrection”…

This is the gunman’s gun, loaded (with two additional full magazines!), and ready to go – What is that all about? Where are the local Police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE Officers? The Mayor and the Governor called them off? It is stated that many of these Police were not allowed to do their job, that ICE had to protect themselves — Not an easy thing to do! Why does Ilhan Omar have $34 Million Dollars in her account? And where are the Tens of Billions of Dollars that have been stolen from the once Great State of Minnesota? We are there because of massive Monetary Fraud, with Billions of Dollars missing, and Illegal Criminals that were allowed to infiltrate the State through the Democrats’ Open Border Policy. We want the money back, and we want it back, NOW. Those Fraudsters who stole the money are going to jail, where they belong! This is no different than a really big Bank Robbery. Much of what you’re witnessing is a COVER UP for this Theft and Fraud. The Mayor and the Governor are inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric! Instead, these sanctimonious political fools should be looking for the Billions of Dollars that has been stolen from the people of Minnesota, and the United States of America. LET OUR ICE PATRIOTS DO THEIR JOB! 12,000 Illegal Alien Criminals, many of them violent, have been arrested and taken out of Minnesota. If they were still there, you would see something far worse than you are witnessing today!

I think that Trump used the word “insurrection” very purposely.

I think that he is starting to lay the groundwork for invoking the Insurrection Act.

Of course once that happens, I expect the left to raise things to another level as well.

By the time this crisis is ultimately over, I anticipate that we will actually see martial law in major U.S. cities.

That is an outcome that we should be working very hard to avoid, but unfortunately both sides are boiling with anger right now.

Three Lies About the Minneapolis Anti-ICE Protests | IFA

The Minneapolis anti-ICE protests are a sign that we are a divided nation. Propaganda and lies are making the situation worse. Our country needs the Lord Jesus Christ and the truth that comes from following Him.

Visit your state page to pray.

Violence and Love?

There are lots of lies circulating about the Minneapolis protests, but this one is a real whopper. It involves Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who claims that the violent protests against ICE are a beautiful way of showing love. While appearing on ABC’s This Week, hosted by Jonathan Karl, Frey stressed, “I think it’s important to tell the whole country that this is not just about resistance here in Minneapolis, it’s about love.”

The lovey-dovey Frey is so wrapped up in hugs and kisses that he ignores the violent tactics that are being inflicted upon ICE agents while trying to do their job. Who knew that cursing, yelling death threats, punching, tackling, using cars as weapons, and storming into churches were all actions of love? Apparently, the mayor’s definition defies all logic and dictionary definitions.

“We are showing something far more powerful and consequential here, which is love. We are standing up for one another. You’ve got neighbors helping neighbors. You’ve got people uniting and coming together in this beautiful way,” gushed Mayor Frey.

Apparently, unchecked lawlessness and chaos are “beautiful” expressions of love. But the U.S. Justice Department isn’t buying into this charade. They vowed to open an investigation into the disruptions, using the “full force of federal law.”

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Mayor Frey insisted that Minneapolis would be “calm” again if federal agents would just leave. “We want to get back to a place where we can just love on our city, do our daily activities, just like any other town in America.”

That sounds all warm and fuzzy, but the problem is that Frey’s words are big, fluffy lies. The truth is that rampant fraud, theft, and criminal activity abounds in his sanctuary city. If he really wants to show love, he should follow the law by protecting legal American citizens instead of thieves and fraudsters.

Mobs and Mistaken Identity

The second lie involving the Minneapolis protests is a tangled tale of mistaken identity. It all began when a group of unlucky software engineers was misidentified as ICE agents by an angry mob of protesters. The men were enjoying their lunch when suddenly they found themselves, and the deli they were eating in, surrounded.

Ironically, one of the men who was misidentified as an ICE agent belongs to an anti-ICE Signal chat and is “on the anti-ICE side politically.” Before the confrontation, he received a message from SW Minnesota Rapid Response, which claimed that “plainclothes ICE agents were dining at the restaurant.” This message stated that the presence of ICE agents had been “confirmed by the owner” of the deli.

The group of software engineers was shocked upon realizing that they were the ones identified as the ICE agents. The men ventured outside the restaurant, only to be accosted by protesters yelling, “I hope you die,” while others called them “pedophiles.”

The software engineers addressed the protesters, explaining, “We do custom apps for a whole bunch of companies around Minnesota and the country.” One asked, “Do I look like an ICE agent?” This response only angered the mob more, who responded with “Yeah, you look like a f****** ICE agent,” and “Get the f*** out,” while blowing whistles.

The “ringleader” of the protesters raged that the software engineers were “white privileged males” who deserved what was happening to them. One man, identified as Lee, shared, “One of us is pro-ICE, one anti-ICE, others on the fence. After this, I think some of them are rethinking everything.”

The Left will always show its true colors. They are more interested in causing division and chaos than in any real change. The irrational nature of the anti-ICE protests in Minnesota is opening the eyes of many people who are beginning to understand that the protests are not about protecting the lives of illegal immigrants, but rather tearing down the nation that gives rights to legal citizens.

Teacher Insults Student Defending ICE

The third lie related to the Minneapolis protests is both disturbing and infuriating because it involves students who go to school to be educated, not indoctrinated. A social studies teacher and Gender and Sexuality Alliance adviser at Becker High School in Becker, Minnesota, is seen in a widely circulated video arguing with a student about the shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis. Some students defended the ICE agent’s actions in the confrontation, but the teacher, identified as Dr. Heather Abrahamson, insisted that “Your job as a police officer is to de-escalate.”

In the video, one student points out, “It was a split second.” The teacher responds, “No, because watch the video. He was not in danger!” A student states, “Just because you’re yelling does not mean you’re winning an argument.” Abrahamson reacts, “Just because you’re alive doesn’t mean you’re intelligent.” Another student who overheard the teacher’s comment questioned, “You just gonna take that man? She just called you stupid.”

Nowadays, educators are teaching more than reading, writing, and arithmetic. Instead, some are pushing activism and social justice. Political views and opinions are treated as part of the social studies curriculum, but no one is allowed to object.

This is certainly a disturbing trend, but this is why we must continue praying and informing others about what’s really going on. The battle for truth is raging, but we are not powerless. Now more than ever, it’s time to put on the full armor of God and stand against the schemes of the enemy.

Lord Jesus, our nation is experiencing great division. We need Your strong hand to intervene and guide us to peace and healing amongst the chaos. Have mercy on our country.

These are just some of the lies circulating about the Minneapolis anti-ICE protests. How are you praying?

WATCH: Stephen Miller Says Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Have Incited an Insurrection | The Gateway Pundit

Man speaking in front of an American flag with bookshelves in the background, conveying a formal message.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller has accused Minnesota Democratic leaders of orchestrating an “insurrection” by protecting criminal illegal immigrants and allowing violent mobs to obstruct federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

Miller discussed the issue during an appearance on Saturday’s episode of Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump.

Minneapolis has been plagued with protests and riots since December, when ICE agents began a massive operation in the city.

The riots have been escalating in severity since the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good by an ICE agent as she plowed her car into him earlier this month.

Miller placed the blame for the chaos and violence directly on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

“Foreign illegals who rape children… are protected at every level by Minnesota leadership,” Miller stated during the interview.

Miller continued, “When ICE goes to arrest them, they unleash violent mobs to attack and impede officers!”

He described the actions of Walz, Frey, and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison as a deliberate “violent insurrection” against federal immigration enforcement.

Miller argued that allowing cities and states to nullify federal immigration laws undermines the republic, accusing the leaders of inciting “outside agitators” to violence.

President Donald Trump has threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act if state leaders continue to “obstruct” ICE operations, but has not done so as of Saturday evening.

“If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State,” Trump wrote a post on Truth Social on Thursday.

IN TODAY’S DIGEST

EXECUTIVE NEWS SUMMARY

The Editors

  • Inflation holds steady: According to this morning’s report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, December’s 2.7% annualized inflation rate matched expectations, buoying hopes that the Federal Reserve’s long-targeted 2% annual inflation rate may be within reach. Core inflation, excluding volatile food and energy, rose at 2.6% annually. One of the leading elements of inflation — shelter costs — rose by 0.4% in December, the largest increase in three months. Food prices also rose, increasing 0.7% on the month. Recreational costs increased by 1.2%, the largest monthly gain ever recorded dating back to 1993. The issue of housing affordability has yet to diminish. In short, the report is a mixed bag as the inflation Democrats created in 2021 persists.
  • Credit card interest cap? The current average interest rate on a credit card, according to one study, is 19.65%. President Donald Trump is encouraging credit companies to cap their rates at just 10% for one year, starting on January 20, 2026. The idea has bipartisan congressional support in both the House and Senate, but it’s not without its critics. Advocates point to the massive credit card debt Americans hold, which topped $1.2 trillion in the third quarter of 2025, and to companies’ ability to turn a profit even with lower rates. Critics argue that a rate cut will likely reduce credit availability, especially for risky borrowers and those with credit scores below 600. Government attempts to dictate free-market policies almost never work, yet our credit-based economy has led the average American household to amass over $10,000 in credit card debt.
  • Minnesota sues feds: If anyone was still wondering if The Gopher State was complicit in the massive fraud schemes that may exceed $9 billion in stolen taxpayer funds, the fact that the state is now suing to stop the deployment of federal law enforcement may clear up the matter. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison argued that his state was being targeted by a surge of law enforcement for its “diversity,” “democracy,” and “differences of opinion.” No, Mr. Ellison, it’s because of the fraud. The suit names the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul as plaintiffs, with DHS, ICE, and Customs and Border Protection officials named as defendants. As a White House spokesman noted, “This pathetic stunt only proves that Democrats will put illegal criminals over hardworking Americans every time.”
  • Renee Good’s family cashes in: Renee Good’s determination to obstruct law enforcement and striking an ICE officer with her car tragically ended in her death. But for Good’s lesbian “wife,” Becca, the story didn’t end there. Moments before Good’s death, Becca can be heard on video screaming, “Drive, baby, drive,” encouraging Renee in the illegal act that led to her death. Now, Becca and Good’s family have received $1.5 million from a GoFundMe fundraiser. A similar fundraiser for ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who acted in self-defense after being struck by Good’s car, has raised only $175,000. The Good family fundraiser triples that of one set up for the family of Iryna Zarutska, who was slain by a homicidal train passenger for no reason at all while she minded her own business.

  • Fraud consumes a lot of money: With welfare fraud exposed as a major problem in Minnesota, journalist Christopher Rufo wondered about the cost of fraud to the federal government in a recent interview with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The government estimates that between $300 billion and $600 billion annually is lost to fraud. “That’s not my number, that’s the General Accounting Office,” Bessent noted. “So, it’s about 10% of the federal budget, 1 to 2% of GDP.” He added, “If we can narrow that number, President Trump asks for a $500 billion increase in the defense budget to fortify the 10, 20 years of neglect. … If we can get rid of this fraud, waste, and abuse, we can finance a safer, sounder U.S. without taking on more debt.” President Trump has made cracking down on fraud a primary focus of his administration.
  • Democrats finally take a stand against Hamas: When it still seemed possible that Hamas might survive if only Joe Biden could pressure Israel out of fighting back, Democrat denouncements of the terror organization often seemed half-hearted. Now that it’s a moot issue and Hamas is headed the way of the dodo, Democrats have started to sound almost reasonable. “Saying ‘We support Hamas’ is a disgusting and antisemitic thing to do,” said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over the weekend, and she was far from alone. Last week, protesters in Queens chanted their support for Hamas, and Kirsten Gillibrand, Letitia James, Kathy Hochul, and Zohran Mamdani were among the chorus that strongly denounced the protesters. If only these folks had found their voices during the disgusting pro-Hamas protests on New York campuses when their denouncements might have meant something.
  • DOJ charges illegal alien shot in Portland: One of the illegal aliens who was shot in Portland, Oregon, by Border Patrol last week has been charged by the DOJ with assaulting a federal officer. The two illegal aliens, who are both associated with the Tren de Aragua terrorist-designated Venezuelan gang, were in a pickup truck repeatedly ramming a government vehicle when they were shot. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated, “Anyone who crosses the red line of assaulting law enforcement will be met with the full force of this Justice Department.” She noted that these illegal aliens should not have been in the U.S. in the first place. According to the FBI, no body cam footage of the event in question was captured.

  • Dem states want to tax driving: Under the guise of combating climate change, a number of Democrat-led states are advancing plans to monitor residents’ vehicle usage, with the eventual goal of limiting the mileage allowed. In Massachusetts, State Sen. Cynthia Creem has sponsored legislation to track a vehicle’s emissions and miles traveled to develop “a reasonable pathway” to a restricted-mileage system. Colorado and Minnesota have passed similar legislation. Minnesota is currently piloting a program that would charge fees or a tax on the number of miles a driver puts on their vehicle. Other states are exploring a similar mileage-driven tax to offset revenue lost from the gas tax as EVs increase on the road. As a Massachusetts resident observed, “This is just a money grab. Massachusetts politicians need a way to fill their and their friends’ pockets.”
  • Oregon to remove 800k inactive voters from rolls: Thanks to multiple lawsuits against Oregon in the last few months over the state’s mismanagement of its voter rolls, Democrat Secretary of State Tobias Read announced that the state will “restart” the “routine cleanup of outdated, inactive voter registration records.” That’s 800,000 inactive voters, or 20% of Oregon’s voter rolls. Although Read claims that “none of the individuals associated with these records will receive ballots, and these inactive records have no impact on Oregon elections,” there’s plenty of reason for skepticism. Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project, argued that when states don’t keep up with constant changes, such as deaths and out-of-state moves, voter rolls become bloated and outdated, increasing the risk of errors and abuse. When voter rolls aren’t cleaned, it’s more likely that ballots will be automatically mailed to ineligible voters.
  • Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams dies after long battle with prostate cancer: Scott Adams, the creator of the long-running Dilbert cartoon, died this morning just before his daily “Real Coffee with Scott Adams” morning video. Adams had been very public about his ongoing battle with prostate cancer after revealing his diagnosis in May 2025. Adams had warned his followers on X that all the news about his illness was bad and that “January will probably be a month of transition.” He had made political comments for years but became much more present in the discourse following an attempted cancellation in 2023. In recent days, Adams had thanked his followers who were encouraging him to find Jesus and announced his intention to convert. We pray that, like the thief on the cross, Adams is even now with his Savior in paradise.

When Renee Good made her fatal mistake of not following the orders of the ICE agents who told her to step out of her car, Democrats and the Leftmedia portrayed her as an innocent bystander. It wasn’t until later that we all found out she was a trained “legal observer” for ICE Watch, a shadowy group dedicated to impeding the progress of immigration enforcement, such as they were doing in the Twin Cities area in the wake of the Somali daycare scandal.

Surprisingly, we learned about the Goods’ involvement with the ICE Watch cause early on, thanks to reporting from the New York Post, which noted that Renee and Rebecca Good learned of the group through the school their child attended. Southside Family Charter School was described as “unabashedly dedicated to social justice education,” according to its founder.

But to hear CNN tell it, ICE Watch is just a group of concerned citizens. “‘I mean, gosh, we’re like, moms in Toyota Corollas,’ said one Minneapolis-area activist who participates in anti-ICE patrols and declined to give her name because she feared retribution from the administration.”

If it were a court case, though, this could be construed as obstruction, as their job isn’t simply to observe but to interfere. “The group aims to do one or both of two things: Make illegal alien roundups harder and provoke headline-grabbing confrontations that ‘discredit’ law enforcement,” said our Nate Jackson on Monday. “And it’s pushing for more recruits after Good’s death.”

Jill Garvey, a trainer for virtual “ICE Watch and Community Defense” programs, insists that they “emphasize documenting ICE’s actions, supporting those being targeted and deescalating to mitigate violence.”

“It’s also not about interference,” she adds. “We’re pretty explicit that we don’t recommend interference. We don’t recommend putting your body between an ICE agent and their target. And certainly, don’t put your hands on any federal agent — that’s incredibly dangerous.” Garvey also conceded that “most people in these situations panic.”

The Minneapolis incident has resulted in a surge of interest in ICE resistance, with training classes reportedly “at capacity,” but that claim about the training not being about interference falls on its face, according to Sarah Bedford of the Washington Examiner. “Immigration authorities have struggled with the spread of ICE Watch networks across the country, some of which used phone apps to track the movement of officers,” wrote Bedford. “Apple and Google removed the most widely used ICE tracking app in October, but crowdsourced networks, such as the one in Minneapolis, continue to complicate immigration enforcement.”

National Review’s Haley Strack also tells us, “The [MN Ice Watch] Instagram account also recently promoted the ‘Stop ICE Plate Tracker,’ just one of many ICE-tracker services that ‘catalogues vehicles identified in public spaces used in raids.’ Although last year the Trump administration pressured Apple to remove from its App Store some of the most popular ICE-tracker apps, many are still available. A cursory search of tracking services after the ICE shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday shows how activists are using them to monitor officers.”

This understandably frustrates the administration. ”The use of apps to monitor the routines, locations, and happenings of DHS law enforcement strongly resemble obstruction of justice,“ said Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “This type of garbage is contributing to our officers facing a more than 1,300% increase in assaults and a more than 8,000% increase in death threats against them as they arrest the worst of the worst offenders, including murderers, sexual predators, terrorists, and gang members.”

Funding has also become a concern. CNN reported that a Bluesky appeal by activist Nick Benson raised enough to fund over 400 dash cams for ICE Watch and others to record encounters. But as columnist Gary Bauer points out, that’s small potatoes. “ICE Watch is part of the vast left-wing network we reported on last week. This network thrives in Democrat-run cities. It is funded largely by communist Chinese operatives, and its purpose is to drive radical socialists, Marxists, and anarchists into the streets in open rebellion against the United States.”

The far-left astroturf group Indivisible is one source of funding for the protests, but other groups considered more mainstream have joined in, at least locally. “A major protest, billed as ‘ICE out of Minnesota,’ in late December was organized by local arms of the national AFL-CIO and the Service Employees International Union, as well as the Minneapolis Federation of Educators, a teachers’ union in the state. Thousands of people joined the protest,” said Bedford. “Unidos MN, which has in recent years taken funding from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a prominent liberal dark money group, and from a massive progressive advocacy group called the All Hands on Deck Network, was also listed as a sponsor of the protest.”

As written elsewhere, the unrest in Minneapolis spread across the country last weekend, as numerous protests were held around the nation, attempting to create the impression that public opinion is turning against ICE in particular and law enforcement in general. It’s a shame because protesters used to cooperate to some degree with law enforcement, said former Fort Worth Police Chief Jeffrey Halstead to Fox News, but it appears these radical groups are no longer interested in helping out by keeping their protests peaceful.

Given our current trajectory of left-wing opposition to enforcing our immigration law and the money being donated to the cause, it’s only a matter of time before the Left gets its next martyr.

EXECUTIVE NEWS SUMMARY

The Editors

  • Welfare recipients to be disallowed from sending money overseas: “The American people, our generosity has been taken advantage of,” summed up Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as he explained new welfare restrictions. Welfare recipients in Minnesota, especially, are being scrutinized, and the new policies are aimed at reducing fraud in that state. Among several actions, Bessent will use the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network to investigate at least four Minnesota businesses that facilitate money transfers. Transfers over $3,000 to “areas of concern,” which include Somalia, will be reported as part of a “geographic targeting order.” Bessent also added that he will be pushing for welfare recipients to be disallowed from sending remittances overseas. The secretary contends that those on welfare sending money overseas are either receiving too many benefits or are part of the fraud conspiracy.
  • Omar blames Trump admin for “confusion and chaos” in investigating fraud: The congresswoman from Somalia and Minnesota, Ilhan Omar, opposes the surge of DHS agents to her state to root out fraud. More than 2,400 DHS agents, including ICE and dedicated investigators, are now stationed in the Minneapolis area. Omar says these DHS forces are unnecessary as the fraud is a “serious problem that needs serious people to address it.” The Department of Homeland Security certainly seems serious about rooting out the fraud that some estimate may top $9 billion in stolen funds. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson retorted that Omar is “more concerned about Somali fraudsters being held accountable for their crimes than she is about the fraud taking place.”

  • Supreme Court will hear trans sports case: On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear two cases — Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. — concerning prohibiting transgender-identifying males from competing in girls’ sports. The first involves an adult male who sought to compete on the Boise State University girls’ cross-country team and was barred from doing so under Idaho law. The second considers a middle-school-age boy who has been barred from competing on his school’s girls’ track and field team in West Virginia. Appeals courts in both cases have sided with the plaintiffs against the state bans, ironically citing Title IX anti-sex discrimination rules. Twenty-seven states have enacted legislation banning males from competing in girls’ sports. SCOTUS has the opportunity to correct the false notion that there is no biological difference between male and female.
  • U.S. strikes in Syria: On Saturday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the U.S. carried out “large-scale” strikes against ISIS targets in Syria. The reason for the strikes was an “ongoing commitment to root out Islamic terrorism against our warfighters, prevent future attacks, and protect American and partner forces in the region,” CENTCOM said in a statement. “Our message remains strong: if you harm our warfighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice.” This represents the second strike against ISIS targets in Syria since December 19. That initial strike was in response to an attack six days prior on U.S. military members in Syria, in which three Americans were killed. No word on whether the current situation in Iran is connected to these strikes.
  • Judge tosses libel lawsuit against SPLC over its hate map: The Southern Poverty Law Center won a court case allowing it to continue to fraudulently use its “hate group” smear. U.S. District Judge Corey Maze wrote in a decision that the Dustin Inman Society “cannot prove actual malice” in the SPLC labeling an anti-illegal immigration group as an “anti-immigrant” hate group. The society’s leader, D.A. King, had successfully argued in an early stage that the SPLC smear was libelous, as the group is anti-illegal immigration, not anti-immigrant. At that stage, the SPLC let the cat out of the bag with its argument that its “hate group designation is not capable of being proved false, but is an opinion.” The SPLC suffered a blow last year when the FBI cut ties with the increasingly propagandist group that has long outlived its usefulness.
  • Golden Globes go anti-ICE: Hollywood actors continue to beclown themselves as patsies for the radical Left, with the most recent example coming on Sunday at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills. Actors and entertainers such as Mark Ruffalo, Ariana Grande, Wanda Sykes, and others sported small circular pins featuring the words “Be Good” on their lapels. The pins were in honor of Renee Good, the radical left-wing activist killed in Minnesota after she hit an ICE officer with her vehicle. Ruffalo, an avid anti-Trump critic, blasted the president’s actions on enforcing our nation’s immigration laws while falsely asserting, “We’re in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded.” He added, “He’s telling the world that international law doesn’t matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon, a convicted rapist.”

  • GM’s EV losses rival Ford’s: It’s not just Ford that has lost big bucks on electric vehicle production. General Motors will be absorbing a $6 billion hit thanks to slumping EV sales. With the EV tax credit ending last year, GM — one of the most ambitious American automakers to lean into EV production — is feeling the sting of its bet on electric. Back in 2020, GM announced its plan to invest $27 billion in EVs over the next five years, with the goal of having the vast majority of the vehicles it produces be electric by 2035 — a nod to the climate cult’s pipe dream of net-zero carbon emissions. The fact of the matter is that efforts to force-feed American consumers a product they don’t want and often can’t afford have had predictable results.
  • Jew-hatred in Mississippi: John Horhn, mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, says the fire at Beth Israel Congregation Synagogue over the weekend is being treated as an act of terrorism. Firefighters responding to the alarm called in arson investigators and a suspect is in custody, but the attack is still under investigation and no one has been charged at this time. This is not the first time this synagogue has come under attack; it suffered a Ku Klux Klan bombing in the 1960s. No one was harmed in this latest attack, although two Torahs were destroyed and five more were heavily damaged. One Torah came through the attack unharmed due to being stored in a glass case; it had previously survived the Holocaust.
  • Maritime piracy surging across the globe: Despite increased maritime security measures, a large EU anti-piracy mission, and the recent ceasefire in the Middle East, piracy has been on the rise worldwide. “The U.S. Navy reported four-year highs for piracy in the Gulf of Guinea off the West African coast and in the Singapore Strait,” The Washington Times reports. The Houthi terrorist group continues to be a major contributor to the piracy problem around the Horn of Africa, with Somali pirates often joining them. Incidents of ship attacks have been reported in the Western Hemisphere as well. Gangs in Haiti, Panama, and the Yucatan Peninsula have attacked vessels and abducted crew members for ransom. With all of these being strategic shipping regions, piracy affects trade. As the International Maritime Bureau’s Cyrus Mody confirmed, “When this happens, it has a direct impact on the price consumers find on the shelves.”

FEATURED ANALYSIS

Minneapolis Misinformation and Gaslighting

Nate Jackson

The misinformation and gaslighting about the ICE shooting in Minneapolis is off the charts. So let’s set the record straight.

I began my article last Thursday with this paragraph:

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot and killed in Minneapolis on Wednesday when she accelerated her car and struck an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer. She had already obstructed ICE agents’ work and traffic on a public street and then refused to comply with another officer’s orders to get out of the vehicle.

Those facts remain correct, as further corroborated by two additional videos that emerged in the days that followed. Nevertheless, Democrats and their Leftmedia allies are still deliberately lying about it to foment anger and rebellion against Donald Trump and his administration. Let’s look at this in three parts.

Evidence

This video is cellphone footage recorded by Jonathan Ross, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who shot Good. The video makes several things clear: Good purposefully obstructed traffic and disobeyed direct orders from ICE officers, she struck Ross with her vehicle, and her “wife,” Rebecca, cockily antagonized Ross and the others before yelling “Drive, baby, drive!” a second before Renee accelerated into Ross.

By the way, the first shot went through the windshield, not the side window.

“Put it all together,” says Byron York, “and in the view of a number of experts, it added up to a legally sufficient reason for Ross to fire his weapon.” Ross did not have a duty to wait until Good successfully veered away before deciding whether his life was in danger or not.

This second video shows the three and a half minutes immediately preceding the shots fired. The Goods were obstructing traffic, and Renee was likely the one blaring the car horn for at least that long. Witnesses say they were at it all morning.

What will Rebecca Good’s video show from her perspective? She was later seen sobbing and admitting, “I made her come down here; it’s my fault.”

It is a tragedy that Good is dead, and I’m certainly not saying she intended to kill, harm, or even actually hit Ross with her car. At best, however, Good was reckless, and she deliberately put herself into conflict with federal agents, which can yield harm or death.

It’s also worth noting that Ross is no trigger-happy new recruit. He’s an 11-year veteran who was seriously injured by another car last year.

In a perfect world, that confrontation wouldn’t have happened. Maybe ICE officers could have de-escalated better. Maybe it would be less antagonistic to not wear masks or draw a firearm in that situation. But those are all armchair quarterback questions that I can ask from the comfort of my office, not the cold line of duty that morning.

Unfortunately, they’re also the kinds of questions that might lead Democrat officials in Minnesota to pursue criminal charges against Ross. As Minneapolis Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey falsely asserted, “You had a person that was definitively trying to just get out of there. They were trying to leave the scene. That is not a person who is trying to run an ICE agent over.”

Uh, watch the videos again, Mr. Mayor. In my opinion, the three videos utterly demolish the Left’s narrative.

Radical activism

The Goods were part of a left-wing group called ICE Watch, which trains radical activists to do far more than the name says — they learn how to harass, resist, and obstruct ICE agents in the course of their lawful duties to enforce federal immigration law. “Good was a trained ‘ICE Watch’ activist,” writes David Strom, “and she has spent the morning trailing ICE officers and impeding their efforts. She appears to have recently moved to Minnesota, specifically for this reason, and was leading a caravan of vehicles that morning.”

The group aims to do one or both of two things: Make illegal alien roundups harder and provoke headline-grabbing confrontations that “discredit” law enforcement. And it’s pushing for more recruits after Good’s death. Two sympathizers are U.S. Representatives Ilhan Omar and Angie Craig.

Strom also says, “ICE Watch is funded by major nonprofits such as the Tides Foundation, which got government grants through USAID.”

The line between protest and crime is fairly clear. Holding signs and chanting or even yelling is protected speech. Obstructing traffic and officers is not.

“It’s not okay to impede and interfere with an officer,” argued Border Czar Tom Homan. “These are targeted enforcement operations. They’re arresting bad people. And [interfering is] illegal. Let’s remember what she did was a crime.” Furthermore, “If you look up this definition of terrorism, it could fall within that definition.”

Good was not “unarmed.” She was armed with a 4,000-pound vehicle, weapons that anti-ICE belligerents are using with increasing frequency.

“Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It’s just ridiculous,” added Homan. “It’s going to infuriate people more, which means there’s gonna be more incidents like this.”

Gaslighting

That brings me to the last point — all the gaslighting by Democrats and the Left.

The Goods were not average women “trying to just get out of there,” as Frey claimed. They were not, as California Democrat Senator Adam Schiff argued, merely “at the wrong place at the wrong time.” It flies in the face of the evidence to say, as Democrat Governor Tim Walz did, that Good was shot and killed “for no reason whatsoever.”

For the record, I think Donald Trump is guilty of hyperbole in the other direction, saying that Good “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer.”

Still, the Goods trained for their “operation,” deliberately put themselves in harm’s way, antagonized and disobeyed officers, and behaved recklessly, which resulted in Renee’s death.

The gaslighting also includes outlandish alternate-reality scenarios. One meme depicts ICE vehicles as the tanks in Tiananmen Square, as if Good was the standing protester. Reality was exactly the opposite — the commie lesbian was driving the “tank,” and the ICE agent was standing in front of her.

Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett, who seems intent on outdoing herself with mindless statements each day, compared the reaction to Good’s death with her own side’s decorum after Charlie Kirk’s assassination. “I remember when Charlie Kirk got killed,” she said. “Our response wasn’t to sit there and pretend like it was okay.” Wrong — the Left’s overall response was to argue that Kirk had it coming.

No, he was sitting down having a conversation when an assassin shot him in the neck. Good was confronting federal law enforcement. Those things are very different.

Conclusion

Most Democrats are demanding that ICE cease its operations in places like Minneapolis. If they were fully honest, they’d insist that we just stop enforcing immigration law at all. That, they claim, is the way to de-escalate and prevent future deadly confrontations.

By contrast, Vice President JD Vance got it exactly right: “Stop assaulting and stop inciting violence against our law enforcement officers. That’s the best way to take down the temperature.”

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Blasts Democrats on Sanctuary Cities, Says ICE Will Continue Their Work – (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Two women in a news studio discussing current events, with an American flag backdrop and a modern cityscape visible through the windows.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to talk about ICE and the situations they are facing in sanctuary cities.

“Now Democrats are moving to try to impeach you. What is your response?” Bartiromo asked.

“We are gonna keep doing our jobs. President Trump promised the American people that he would make America safe again, that we would be out there enforcing the laws and that we would apply them equally. That nobody was above the law and that we were going to start putting American citizens first,” Noem said.

“Criminal illegal aliens in this country are going to be brought to justice under his administration, and that’s exactly why we surged resources to Minnesota,” Noem said.

“Their corrupt, elected officials at the city level and at the state level allowed fraud to happen, allowed crimes to happen. We’ve arrested dozens of murderers, rapists, traffickers in that city already and we are gonna continue to do that work to follow through on President Trump’s promises,” Noem continued.

“What more can your officers do to stop the agitators?” Bartiromo asked.

“We are sending more officers today and tomorrow that will arrive. There will be hundreds more in order to allow our ICE and our Border Patrol individuals that are working in Minneapolis to do so safely,” Noem said.

“If they conduct violent activities against law enforcement, if they impede our operations, that is a crime, and we will hold them accountable to those consequences,” Noem explained.

Secretary Noem explained that Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey refuses to cooperate with DHS and ICE so they are taking action to protect their officers and at the same time, enforce the law.

“They have said they are not gonna help us, so we’ll make sure that we protect our officers, but we also follow through on making sure these criminals are brought to justice,” Noem continued.

“It’s ironic to see the Democrats so angry over what ICE is doing when in fact you look back at the policy and how this all started and it was a wide-open border under the Biden administration,” Bartiromo said.

“Every single thing that I’ve said has been factual about what’s been going on in Minneapolis, what’s been going on in Minnesota,” Noem continued.

“These law enforcement officers are trained to be in situations that are dangerous, and they rely on that training each and every day to make the right decisions,” Noem said.

“It is really, really horrific that we have elected officials that are using this as an opportunity to divide, using this to promote an agenda,” Noem said.

“Why Minnesota? What is happening in Minneapolis that you have been as aggressive as you have in terms of sending more officers there?” Bartiromo asked.

“Well, it is ground zero for stealing of taxpayer dollars and protecting criminals,” Noem said.

Constitutional representatives of  in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, passed the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The President then signed the act into law. That act created ICE and gave it its legal mandate. It happened long before the presidency of Donald Trump. ICE and its agents have a sworn duty under the Constitution to enforce the country’s immigration laws. Congress also enacted those immigration laws legally and in accordance with the Constitution.

After an ICE agent fatally wounded Renee Nicole Good last week, Governor Tim Walz demanded that ICE leave Minnesota. But governors do not get to decide which federal laws will be upheld in their states. Mr. Walz went so far as to declare Minnesota’s independence — stating, “We do not need any further help from the federal government.” Does that mean he plans to refuse any federal money flowing to his state from this point forward? I don’t think so.

Obviously, ICE was never empowered to murder people, but all citizens have the right to defend themselves when attacked with a deadly weapon, such as a car. Self-defense is not murder.

Shortly after the shooting, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said, “So, they are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly. That is…” (here he used an expletive meaning, “a lie”). The mayor said he had seen “the video,” as if there were only one. From the one video he saw, he claimed to know without a doubt that the ICE officer was guilty of murder. He didn’t use the word “murder,” but if it was neither self-defense nor an accident, what else would you call it?

A thousand miles away, New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani declared on X, “This morning, an ICE agent murdered a woman in Minneapolis.” He needed no investigation and no trial. And with that we begin to see what a socialist/communist future looks like. That kind of knee-jerk rush to judgment is fueling the new lynch mob mentality permeating a large portion of American society.

People have long felt frustration with their health insurance providers, but a large portion of society now cheers the alleged stalking and murder of a major insurance company CEO. There are many other examples of the new vigilantism, such as the systematic persecution of Jews on American university campuses, the assassination attempts on Donald Trump, and the successful assassination of Charlie Kirk.

There are complex circumstances surrounding the Minnesota shooting, but most are irrelevant to the main issue. It’s irrelevant that the victim’s “wife” was taunting and harassing the agents prior to the shooting, or whether Ms. Good was a nice person, or how hard her vehicle hit the officer. Even whether or not she intended to harm the agent is irrelevant to the shooting. What matters is that the ICE agent saw a deadly weapon aimed at him, and then accelerating toward him.

A neighbor said, “Verbal abuse… doesn’t warrant shooting at somebody.” Another neighbor said, “Nobody gets a death sentence for a traffic violation.” But the woman in Minnesota did not die because of verbal abuse or for speeding. Either advertently or inadvertently, she hit the accelerator on her car while it was pointed in the direction of a man with a gun. That man had a right to defend himself.

The “wife” told the Washington Post, “We had whistles. They had guns.” But Ms. Good did not just have a whistle. She had under her control a weapon — a motor vehicle — something that kills over 40,000 people every year in the United States. The “wife” screamed, “Drive, baby, drive, drive!” Renee Good obeyed the screaming voice while her vehicle was aimed at an officer. The end-time sign of “lawlessness” took a leap forward, and tragedy followed.

WATCH: DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Shuts Down Jake Tapper with an Important Reminder After He Lectures Her on Her Comments Following ICE Self-Defense Shooting | The Gateway Pundit

Jake Tapper’s attempt to scold DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on Sunday for her comments following last week’s self-defense shooting in Minneapolis involving an ICE officer.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, chaos erupted on Wednesday after ICE fatally shot a rioter who attempted to run over agents in Minneapolis.

Video posted to X shows the moment an unhinged female was gunned down as she carried out her act of violence. Additional footage clearly shows that an ICE officer was in danger of being run over as Good accelerated.

Noem called the incident an “act of domestic terrorism.” She added that the officer followed his training.

“This is an experienced officer who followed his training, and we will continue to let the investigation unfold into the individual and continue to follow the procedures and policies that happen in these use of force cases,” she stated.

During their interview on CNN’s “State of the Union”, Tapper tried to lecture Noem for jumping to conclusions before the investigation was complete. But his move immediately backfired.

Noem then shut down Tapper with an important reminder: he had given a complete pass to Democrats such as AOC and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey when they slandered the officer and cursed out ICE.

After Tapper tried to interrupt, Noem cut him off by demanding he call out the Democrats as well.

Noem then closed by telling Tapper she had given the public nothing but the truth regarding the investigation, and if he does not like it, too bad.

WATCH:

TAPPER: Are you doing a disservice to the officer by reaching a conclusion before the investigation is complete?

NOEM: I haven’t heard you say once what a disservice it’s done for Jacob Frey to get up and tell ICE to get the “f out of the city…”

TAPPER: I’m going to…

NOEM: Or AOC to stand up before she had any of the facts and call this officer a murderer.

TAPPER: I just…

NOEM: Call them out, Jake. Spend as much time calling them out.

I have provided you with facts and information backing up what we’ve said and this investigation. If you don’t like it, that’s fine.

This week’s news was highlighted by the shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis where 2 children were killed.  Jim provided additional related stories as well as the following:

–On Wednesday, the FBI said they’re investigating the Minneapolis church shooting as domestic terrorism and a hate crime and that the person said to be responsible (Robert (Robin) Westman) was a transgender person born a male but who self identified as a female.

–The issue of transgender mental illness and violence has quickly moved front and center in the media and online.  In fact, the term trending on X is “trans terror.”

–Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced that there will be new studies launched into the effects of some anti-depressant drugs and their use by those who turn out to be killers.

–Robert (Robin) Westman’s mother is allegedly not cooperating with law enforcement.

–Comments from the father of one of the two victims who died in the Minneapolis shooting.

–Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki offered comments criticizing prayer in regard to the shooting in Minneapolis.

–The University of Michigan hospital system is suspending its gender transition practices on minors.

–On August 30th, Children’s National Hospital, in the nation’s capital, will become the latest institution of its kind to cease offering all remaining gender transition drugs to minors thanks to the Trump administration’s rules for federal health dollars.

–Parents are outraged after a Massachusetts school district allegedly forced students to take a survey that their parents had recused them from.

–According to a new study from the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law,     approximately 2.8 million Americans age 13 and older are now identifying as transgender.  That’s about 1% of the population.

–The Cracker Barrel restaurant chain scrapped it’s newly unveiled logo and reinstated its classic, old-timer design after a week of customer outrage and political backlash.  In addition, they’ve also quietly removed the pride page from its website as it faced intense furry over its short-lived rebranding effort.

–Last year intense rain affected the Burning Man festival in Nevada.  This year it’s a wind storm that’s been the problem.  One of the festival’s most infamous attractions, the Orgy Dome, will not reopen after high winds tore down its structure earlier in the week.

Other stories looked at President Trump’s desire to have more Chinese students in America…Across all federal agencies nearly 350,000 deportations have taken place since President Trump took office…President Trump threatens to send National Guard troops into more American cities…President Trump announced that his administration will seek capital punishment for anyone who commits murder in Washington, DC…Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller gave additional details about how the Washington, DC, Metro Police Department was “cooking the books” on data in order to make the argument that crime was going down.

Jim presented much more, including input from listeners.

Is the hate speech of the secular left inciting violence against Christians? | WINTERY KNIGHT

Transgenderism is promoted by many groups: WPATH, GLAAD, hospitals like the Boston Children’s Hospital, big tech companies like Google and Facebook, left-wing groups like the Human Rights Campaign, corporations like Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, etc. Is all this advocacy for transgenderism causing violence against people who disagree with it, such as Bible-believing Christians?

The concern that Christians have is that when powerful groups promote gender dysphoria as natural and normal, then anyone who tells the truth about that can become a target. And it’s not a stretch to see someone who is having mental issues turning to violence to get the approval and celebration that they feel will make their lifestyle choices work out for them – in the sense that compelled affirmation makes them feel good about their own choices.

By now, everyone has heard about Audrey Hale’s attack on the Christian school in Nashville.

Newly released pages purportedly from the Nashville Covenant School shooter’s manifesto indicate that the shooter was strongly fixated on gender ideology and deeply held anger against Christianity.

In the pages, released Wednesday by The Daily Wire, trans-identifying shooter Audrey Hale condemns her parents, harshly criticizes Christians, and fantasizes about her “imaginary penis.” The pages come after months of stonewalling from authorities, who refused to confirm or deny a previous set of manifesto pages commentator Steven Crowder released in November.

On Wednesday, there was a new shooting by a new transgender shooter, this time targeting a Catholic school.

Daily Signal reports:

The man who opened fire at a Minneapolis Catholic school Wednesday identified himself by two names, and those names match a court record for a name change in 2019.

Two children, ages 8 and 10, died in the shooting, and the shooter injured 17 others. Authorities found the gunman dead at the scene. The FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics, FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X.

“The shooter has been identified as Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman,” Patel wrote. “The FBI will continue to provide updates on our ongoing investigation with the public as we are able.”

Law enforcement sources confirmed the suspect’s identity as Robert Westman or Robin Westman in speaking with Fox News. The New York Post also reported that police identified Westman in a news conference and said Westman “has been identified as a transgender woman.”

Just regarding the motive, the shooter did not like Jesus, and presumably followers of Jesus.

The Post Millennial explains:

The alleged shooter in Wednesday’s deadly attack at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis… appears to have posted a chilling video on YouTube before the massacre that makes several pop culture references as well as references to other shooters. In the footage, Westman can be seen displaying multiple firearms and ammunition magazines, as well as a target board with an image of Jesus Christ taped to it.

Now, you might remember that Minnesota is famous for their seculalism and leftism. These people aim to be “good without God”, so let’s see some “objective morality” from the secular left.

Here’s an article from The Post Millennial:

In the wake of a devastating mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School that left two children dead and 17 others injured, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey preached about transgender rights during a press conference after it was revealed that the trans male killer identified as a woman.

“I have heard about a whole lot of hate that’s being directed at our trans community,” Frey told reporters at a press briefing Wednesday afternoon.

The mayor of Minneapolis, MN is – of course – a Democrat. He has nothing good to say about Christians, but lots of good to say about transgenders. Does he think that the shooting was justified, because of disagreement with transgenderism? It’s almost like he is telling Christians (the victims) not to cause more shootings by disagreeing with his transgender agenda. This certainly is an escalation from the traditional response of “don’t disagree with me, or I’ll end myself”. Now it sounds like “don’t disagree with me, or I’ll end you”. There were some voices saying similar things about the Nashville Shooter – it was provoked by those hateful Christians.

And in another article from The Post Millennial, the mayor says:

“Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now, these kids were literally praying.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey delivered a statement on Wednesday after a deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, rejecting “thoughts and prayers.”

Andy Ngo, who follows the violence of “Trantifa” and other leftists pretty closely, tweeted this:

We don’t know the shooter’s motive yet. A full investigation is needed to find out whether the motives are anti-Christian. But, there are several anti-Christian quotes from the shooter, such as the saying “Where’s your God now?”

More from that article: no mention of a father in the home, but:

Fox News reported that his mother, who worked at the school before retiring in 2021, signed off on his gender transition as a minor.

Many leftist women today are transing their children, divorcing fathers in order to get a free hand from the family courts to do it. I’ve blogged several examples: this one and this one and this one. I have a friend whose ex-wife is transing his kid against his will. She is making him pay for it, too. I am left to wonder if the ejection of the father from the home (69% of the time the woman initiates divorce), and thenthe use false accusations to get full custody, causes the child’s mental issues. Children need their fathers.

By the way, be careful what corporate news sources you rely on, because they can distort the truth for their own leftist agenda.

Daily Caller explains:

CNN senior justice correspondent Evan Perez inaccurately claimed Wednesday that semiautomatic firearms could fire “dozens of bullets” with a single pull of the trigger while covering a Minneapolis shooting.

[…]“What has incorrectly been termed an ‘assault weapon’ is a semi-automatic firearm that fires just one bullet with each pull of the trigger (versus a fully automatic firearm — machine gun — which continues to shoot until the trigger is released),” the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) said in a fact sheet.

Would you like to see federal law enforcement do something about hate speech from the secular left that incites violence against Christians and conservatives?
