The Global Persecution Of Christians Has Greatly Intensified In 2025 | End Of The American Dream

While Christians in the western world peacefully celebrate Christmas, most of them have absolutely no idea what is happening to their brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe.  As I detailed a couple of months ago, most of the population of the world lives in a country where Christians are being violently persecuted.  Believers are being rounded up for de-programming in China, churches are being burned to the ground by Hindu extremists in India, Christians are literally being cut into pieces by Islamic radicals in some parts of Africa, practicing your faith can be a death sentence in certain areas of the Middle East, and North Korean concentration camps are teeming with people that are suspected of worshipping Christ.  Perhaps if we were facing similar levels of persecution, believers in the western world would start becoming a lot more serious about their faith.

More than a billion people live in China, and the persecution of Christians in that nation has gone to an entirely different level in 2025.

Earlier this month, over a thousand law enforcement personnel were involved in a massive operation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of hundreds of Christians

Starting on Dec. 13, the Chinese Communist Party mobilized “more than a thousand police officers, SWAT units, anti-riot forces, and firefighters” in the Zhejiang Province’s Yayang Town in Wenzhou City, raiding churches and conducting mass arrests of Christians, ChinaAid reported Friday.

“Belongings of relevant individuals were illegally confiscated, roads leading to the church were completely blocked by police, and Christians in Yayang Town were unable to enter the Yayang church. The operation lasted nearly five days, yet no public statement was issued by officials,” the outlet noted. “Within just the first two days, several hundreds of people were taken away for questioning. On December 16 and 17, at least four more individuals were detained.”

Restrictions on the Christian faith in China just keep getting tighter and tighter.

Nobody under the age of 18 is permitted to go to church.

Those that are adults are only allowed to go to churches that are officially registered with the government.

Anyone that attempts to defy these rules is at risk of being rounded up and forcibly “de-programmed”

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) and other religious liberty watchdogs have repeatedly warned that China’s totalitarian regime is enacting human rights abuses against religious groups within the nation’s border. A USCIRF report late last year detailed mass arrests and the destruction or removal of church property, part of CCP President Xi Jinping’s “sinicization of religion” policy. Religious groups and leaders who do not register with the official government-approved religious organizations are often arrested, imprisoned, and forced into “anti-cult” programs to “de-program” Christians.

In India, it is Hindu extremists that are doing the persecuting.

They have literally burned down hundreds of churches in recent years.

In other instances, mobs of Hindu extremists storm churches and start attacking those that are worshipping.

Earlier this year, I wrote about a mob of 200 extremists that stormed a church and beat the believers they found with iron rods.

More recently, an extremist mob in northern India viciously assaulted a small group of believers and forced them to burn a large pile of Bibles and Christian literature

The Hindu extremists, whose number had then reached 80, searched their car, pulled out all Bibles and tracts and cast them onto the ground into a heap. They shot videos that showed the two couples, disoriented and in shock, forced to repeat that they intended “conversion” in the village and that they would never return.

The mob kicked the Bibles and spoke disrespectfully about Christ, Masih said.

Pastor Das was forced to write a letter of apology that the video shows in his hand. A member of the mob then took a bottle of flammable liquid from the hands of a boy standing with the mob and forced three of the Christians to sprinkle it on the Bibles and literature. After forcing Pastor Das to set the Bibles on fire, the mob then shouted praises to the Hindu god Rama.

In Nigeria, thousands upon thousands of Christians have been slaughtered this year alone.

President Trump had warned that he would do something about the Islamic terrorists that are doing the slaughtering, and on Christmas Day he took action

President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. launched “powerful and deadly” strikes against Islamic State forces in Nigeria, after spending weeks accusing the West African country’s government of failing to rein in the persecution of Christians.

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!” Mr. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was.”

Hopefully this will do something to reduce the violence.

So far in 2025, Islamic terrorists in Nigeria have killed over 12,000 people

The violence in the northwest region, where the strikes occurred, is driven in large part by armed bandits and gangs kidnapping for ransom. The insurgency is concentrated in the northeast, where jihadist groups like the notorious Boko Haram and its now more powerful splinter, the Islamic State West Africa Province, an affiliate of the Islamic State group, have killed tens of thousands of civilians over the past decade.

Nigeria is not officially at war, but more people are killed there than in most war-torn countries. More than 12,000 people were killed by various violent groups this year alone, according to Armed Conflict Location and Event Data, a conflict monitoring group.

Collectively, more than three billion people live in the three nations that I have already mentioned in this article.

But the persecution that is going on in smaller countries such as North Korea and Eritrea is even worse

Henrietta Blyth, CEO of Open Doors U.K. and Ireland, previously told Newsweek: “The persecution of Christians around the world is one of the great untold scandals of the 21st Century… It can take many forms: in North Korea, it may be a summary public execution without trial, merely for owning a Bible. In Eritrea, it can be 10 years spent in a blazing hot prison cell made from a metal shipping container, merely for belonging to an unregistered house church.”

According to Open Doors, North Korea is the number one global offender when it comes to Christian persecution, and Eritrea is number four

I was amazed to see that there are 17 nations that rank ahead of China, because China has become a Big Brother police state on steroids.

Perhaps China ranks lower than some of the others because instead of just killing them, the Chinese round Christians up and simply make them “disappear”.

The good news is that persecution often makes the Christian faith grow rapidly, and we are seeing this happen in many areas of the globe.

In fact, it appears that we could actually use some serious persecution here in the United States, because what we are experiencing at this moment is being described as “the great unchurching”

The U.S. is undergoing its fastest religious shift in modern history, marked by a rapid increase in the religiously unaffiliated and numerous church closures nationwide.

Why it matters: The great unchurching of America comes as identity and reality are increasingly shaped by non-institutional spiritual sources — YouTube mystics, TikTok tarot, digital skeptics, folk saints and AI-generated prayer bots.

When you are facing the fire of persecution, what you do or don’t believe suddenly becomes very clear.

Throughout human history, tyrants have tried and failed to stamp out the Christian faith.

The same thing is true in our time.

Countless believers are choosing imprisonment or death rather than choosing to deny Christ.

If you were faced with the same choice, what would you choose?

You might want to think about that, because the global persecution of Christians is only going to intensify during the very challenging years that are ahead of us.

MARCH 21 | PROMISE FOR THE PERSECUTED

Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.… Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.—MATT. 5:10, 12

Jesus pronounces a double blessing on those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, which is for His own sake. The specific blessing promised is that “theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life” (Mark 10:29–30).
First, Jesus promises us blessings here and now. Not every believer is rewarded in this life with the things of this life. But every believer is rewarded in this life with the comfort, strength, and joy of His indwelling Lord. He is also blessed with the assurance that no service or sacrifice for the Lord will be in vain.
Next, there is also a millennial aspect to the kingdom blessing. When Christ establishes His thousand-year reign on earth, we will be co-regents with Him over that wonderful, renewed earth (Rev. 20:4).
Finally, there is the reward of the eternal kingdom, the blessing of all blessings of living forever in our Lord’s presence and enjoying it to the utmost. The ultimate fruit of kingdom life is eternal life.

ASK YOURSELF
How do we keep these blessings and promises before us when the fire of persecution really heats up? How have you experienced the favor and reward of God even in the midst of situations in which you felt unjustly abused and ridiculed?

MacArthur, J. (2008). Daily readings from the life of Christ (p. 89). Moody Publishers.

MARCH 16 | THE NATURE OF PERSECUTION

Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.—MATT. 5:10–12

Our Lord’s teaching on the beatitudes climaxes with this great and sobering truth: those who faithfully live according to the first seven beatitudes are guaranteed at some point to experience the eighth. Godliness generates hostility and antagonism from the world. Holy people are singularly blessed, but they pay a price for it.
However, persecution is one of the surest and most tangible evidences of salvation. If we never experience ridicule, criticism, or rejection because of our faith, we have reason to examine the genuineness of it. “For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me” (Phil. 1:29–30).
To live a redeemed life to its fullest is to invite and expect resentment and reaction from the world. When Christians are not persecuted in some way by society, it generally means they are reflecting rather than confronting that society. And when we please the world, we can be sure that we grieve the Lord (cf. James 4:4; 1 John 2:15–17). Make sure you are living apart from the world and its allurements.

ASK YOURSELF
How do you experience persecution in your life, perhaps at work, within your family (including parents and in-laws), or among the various people you routinely associate with? How do you typically respond to it—if not directly, at least in the thoughts you entertain?

MacArthur, J. (2008). Daily readings from the life of Christ (p. 84). Moody Publishers.

Watch List Reveals Worst Countries for Christian Persecution | Decision Magazine

In 2024, 4,476 Christians were murdered around the globe because of their beliefs. Another 4,744 were imprisoned. Over 7,670 churches and Christian properties were attacked, too.

Those numbers are reported by Open Doors—a global ministry dedicated to serving persecuted believers—which has released its 2025 World Watch List. The annual report reveals the top 50 countries where Christians are most likely to face severe consequences for their faith, from the loss of homes and jobs to imprisonment and death.

According to Open Doors, more than 380 million Christians—one in seven—faced high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith in Jesus Christ in 2024. Over 310 million of those believers are represented in the World Watch List. One in five African believers are persecuted, while two in five Christians in Asia face oppression. By Open Doors’ estimates, 4,476 Christians were killed in 2024 and 4,744 were imprisoned. Over 7,670 churches and Christian properties were attacked, too.

Among the 10 worst persecutors of Christians, five were African countries: Somalia (2), Libya (4), Sudan (5), Eritrea (6) and Nigeria (7). Since 2000, Nigeria has seen the slaughter of an estimated 62,000 Christians at the hands of Islamist groups like Boko Haram, Islamic State of West Africa Province and nomadic Fulani herdsmen, according to Genocide Watch. Observers are watching to see if the U.S. State Department re-designates Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”—a label that was removed in 2021.

Eight of the 10 countries where believers are most likely to die for their faith are in Sub-Saharan Africa, with terrorism and government instability responsible for the killings of many Christians.

Communist countries held many of the most notorious spots, with North Korea at number one again in 2025. In the Middle East, Yemen moved up to number three amidst an ongoing civil war that is increasing the threat of Islamist violence against the tiny Christian community. Muslim-dominant countries Yemen, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan made the top 10 worst persecutors of Christians.

While the vast majority of countries on the list are located in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, a few communist countries—and nations with unstable governments in Latin America—are also noted.

Franklin Graham regularly speaks out against the persecution of Christians, and both the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse work to support suffering believers all across the globe. “Jesus told us the world hated [Him] first and they’re going to hate you,” Franklin said during opening remarks at the National Religious Broadcaster’s 2023 gathering. “If you stand for Christ, the world is going to hate you.”

January 28th | But it is hardly credible that one could so persecute Jesus!

Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me? Acts 26:14.

Am I set on my own way for God? We are never free from this snare until we are brought into the experience of the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire. Obstinacy and self-will will always stab Jesus Christ. It may hurt no one else, but it wounds His Spirit. Whenever we are obstinate and self-willed and set upon our own ambitions, we are hurting Jesus. Every time we stand on our rights and insist that this is what we intend to do, we are persecuting Jesus. Whenever we stand on our dignity we systematically vex and grieve His Spirit; and when the knowledge comes home that it is Jesus Whom we have been persecuting all the time, it is the most crushing revelation there could be.
Is the word of God tremendously keen to me as I hand it on to you, or does my life give the lie to the things I profess to teach? I may teach sanctification and yet exhibit the spirit of Satan, the spirit that persecutes Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Jesus is conscious of one thing only—a perfect oneness with the Father, and He says “Learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart.” All I do ought to be founded on a perfect oneness with Him, not on a self-willed determination to be godly. This will mean that I can be easily put upon, easily over-reached, easily ignored; but if I submit to it for His sake, I prevent Jesus Christ being persecuted.

After 4 Years Of The Left Targeting And Endangering Christians, It’s Time For A New Administration To Enter Office | Harbingers Daily »

Tony Perkins

As barricades and parade bleachers have gone up in Washington, D.C., so have the nation’s expectations for the incoming Trump administration to right what many see as the wrongs of the outgoing Biden administration — whether it’s the crisis at the southern border, transgender ideology targeting our youth, or the weaponization of government against its citizens.

That latter concern dominated the confirmation hearing last week for President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for attorney general, Pam Bondi.

On Wednesday, Missouri Senator Josh Hawley (R) honed in on the Biden Justice Department’s “unprecedented attack and campaign against people of faith.” Hawley asked Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, whether she would reverse course on a weaponization that has trampled Americans’ rights, leaving them to fear their own government. Bondi committed to ending that hostility toward Christians.

Her pledge carries global importance. Over the last four years, our government’s oppression of Christians at home, along with failed foreign policies, have had deadly repercussions abroad. Two recent reports by organizations tracking religious persecution indicate a sharp rise in global violence against Christians. According to Open Doors International, 380 million Christians faced persecution and discrimination in 2024 — 15 million more than in 2023.

Another study from Global Christian Relief names Nigeria as the most dangerous country for Christians, with nearly 10,000 killed last year.

How does government hostility, combined with bad policy, translate to persecution overseas? Very simply. When our democratic government targets Christians here, repressive regimes — communist or Islamist — are emboldened to persecute believers even more aggressively.

Take Nigeria, for instance. In the final year of the previous Trump administration, I served as chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which tracks violations of religious freedom and advises our government. In 2020, after two decades of USCIRF recommending Nigeria be listed as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did just that, listing the Muslim-led country as a CPC for the first time. That label, under international religious freedom law, can lead to sanctions and other penalties by the United States. However, one of the first actions of the incoming Biden administration was to remove Nigeria from CPC status.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s justification was that it was not a religious freedom issue; rather, it was a climate change issue, and therefore, the designation was unnecessary.

The outcome of that policy change? The body count of Christian men, women, and children has steadily climbed, making Nigeria the world’s most perilous place to be a Christian.

Here’s the reality: the United States will lead, whether we like it or not, through the example we set. Protecting religious freedom at home, as our Constitution guarantees, indirectly benefits believers around the globe. Yet persecution has spread rapidly because of the Left’s policies and practices of hostility. The Trump administration and the new Congress must now tackle persecution and discrimination by not only safeguarding religious freedom here in America but also prioritizing it in our foreign policy.

The Left has been intentional in spreading its hostility toward the Christian faith. It’s time for America to be equally intentional in protecting and promoting this fundamental human right.

Death Camps, Hard Labor, Abductions, Executions And Burned Churches – 380 Million Christians Are Facing “High Levels Of Persecution” | End Of The American Dream

Are you willing to die for what you believe?  This is a question that hundreds of millions of Christians have to ask themselves every single day.  The things that you are going to read about in this article are absolutely horrifying, but you won’t hear about them from the corporate media, because the corporate media hates to share stories that put Christians in a sympathetic light.  The Christian faith is the most persecuted faith on the entire planet, and every single day Christians are being beaten, tortured, taken to death camps and executed.  According to the latest report from Open Doors, a staggering 380 million Christians are currently facing high levels of persecution…

Christian persecution spiked around the globe in 2024, with more than 380 million Christians suffering high levels of persecution and discrimination, according to a report released Wednesday.

The human rights watchdog group Open Doors has published its World Watch List 2025, which ranks the fifty countries where it is most dangerous to be a Christian.

But we aren’t supposed to talk about this, are we?

In fact, this article will probably get a lot less attention than some of my other articles, because we have been trained to ignore the systematic persecution of Christians that is happening on the other side of the globe.

In Africa, one out of every five Christians is facing severe persecution, and in Asia it is two out of every five Christians

Worldwide, one in seven Christians is persecuted. For Christians in Africa, the number is higher still: a full 20 percent live in persecution. Meanwhile in Asia, two in five Christians are persecuted for their faith, an astonishing 40 percent.

North Korea claimed the number one spot in the report.  According to Open Doors, if you are identified as a Christian in North Korea “you could be killed on the spot”

If your Christian faith is discovered in North Korea, you could be killed on the spot. If you aren’t killed, you will be deported to a labour camp and treated as a political criminal. You will be punished with years of hard labour that few survive. And it’s not only you who will be punished: North Korean authorities are likely to round up your extended family and punish them too, even if your family members aren’t Christians.

The concentration camps in North Korea are some of the most brutal that the world has ever seen.

But we don’t really talk about them anymore, and so most people don’t even know that they exist.

Somalia claimed the number two spot in the report.  A radical Islamic terror group that controls much of the country is absolutely obsessed with eradicating the Christian faith

In Somalia, following Jesus is a matter of life and death. Al-Shabab, a violent Islamist militant group, is at war with the government and controls large swathes of the country. This group enforces a strict form of Sharia (Islamic law) and is committed to eradicating Christianity from Somalia. They have often killed Somali Christians on the spot. The dangers have increased over the years, as the militants have increasingly focused on finding and eliminating Christian leaders.

Yemen claimed the number three spot in the report.  Sadly, the Houthis have absolutely no tolerance for Christians…

If someone is reported to be a Christian and or involved in Christian activities, they could face severe monitoring, arbitrary detention, torture, ill-treatment and even murder. In Houthi-controlled areas it’s dangerous to possess a Bible or other Christian books. Leaving Islam to follow Christ is seen as a huge betrayal of the native tribe—punishment by the community can include being disowned, disinherited, divorced and losing custody of their children, being banished or even murdered.

Libya claimed the number four spot in the report.  The U.S. went to a great deal of effort to overthrow the government of Libya a number of years ago, but now it has become one of the most anti-Christian nations on the entire planet

In Libya, following Jesus is a huge risk for anyone. Libyan Christians with a Muslim background face violent pressure from their families and communities to renounce their faith. Foreign Christians, especially those from sub-Saharan Africa, are targeted by Islamist militant and criminal groups. These groups kidnap and sometimes brutally kill Christians. Even if they avoid such a fate, sub-Saharan Christians face harassment and threats from radical Muslims.

Sudan claimed the number five spot in the report.  A nightmarish civil war is raging in Sudan, and both sides seriously hate Christians…

After a year and a half of war, Sudan is now home to the world’s largest displacement crisis and the world’s largest hunger crisis, with nearly nine million people having been forced to flee their homes. Neither side is sympathetic to Christians, and the conflict has given Islamist extremists more opportunity to target them. More than 100 churches have been damaged so far, and Christians have been abducted and killed. Sudanese Christians who have come to faith from a Muslim background face severe backlash from their families and communities. These believers tend to keep their faith secret, even from their own children.

There are two countries that didn’t even make the top ten that I think deserve special mention.

More than a billion people live in China, and over the past several years the persecution of Christians in China has greatly intensified

China, where persecution is also intense, has also moved up the “World Watch List,” ranking 15th on the 2025 ranking as the most difficult nation for believers; it was previously in the 19th spot.

Brown said much of the growth of the Christian church in China has been centered on small house churches — unregistered houses of worship.

“And the Chinese government, over the last couple of years, has had a very intentional and deliberate effort to stamp out many of those unregistered churches,” he said. “For those churches that are registered, there is a lot of ideological control that the state is looking to exert, looking for your pledges to the Communist Party there.”

Unless you attend one of the churches that has agreed to full ideological control by the communist government, it is very difficult to be a Christian in China these days.

More than a billion people also live in India, and more churches are being attacked in India than anywhere else in the world

Property crimes are a key concern in India, which topped GCR’s list for targeted attacks on Christian property with 4,949 attacks. The ancient Christian community in the region of Kerala believe the Apostle Thomas planted the Christian faith during his apostolic ministry in the first century. But today, the Malankara Orthodox Church and Syro-Malabar Catholic Church face targeted assaults.

“This isn’t just random violence. Persecutors use violence to drive out Christians to take control and capture the culture in some of these countries,” said Six. “This is a decade of systematic, planned, organized occupation of some Christian areas. And it’s now at the point where every single rung of civil society and government is armed against impoverished Christian communities,” which “have no recourse.”

India engages in “mass suppression of the church,” observed Six. Yet Perkins said India is “getting a pass from many in the West, because of its growing economic power.”

What would you do if you lived in one of these countries where the persecution of Christians is rampant?

If you were faced with a life or death choice, would you be willing to die for your faith?

It is so important to know why you believe what you believe, because someday you may be faced with such a choice.

Every day, more Christians are being arrested.

Every day, more Christians are being taken to secret prisons and concentration camps.

Every day, more Christians are being tortured, and every day more Christians are being killed for what they believe.

If we won’t speak up for them, who will?

Terrifying Christian Persecution Unveiled: Executions, Violence Exposed | Faithwire

Persecution continues to rise across the globe, with a staggering 380 million Christians experiencing persecution and discrimination as a result of their faith, according to a new report from Open Doors US.

This number is up substantially from the 365 million found to be under the same duress in last year’s “World Watch List” report, an annual ranking of the worst places in the world for Christians.

The current numbers in the “2025 World Watch List,” released Jan. 15, indicate a staggering 1-in-7 believers across the globe experience such horrors — and there’s no end in sight to the chaos.

“We continue to see that these issues are rising and that the trends are alarming,” Ryan Brown, CEO of Open Doors US, told CBN News in the lead-up to the report’s release.

Watch Brown explain:

The persecution watchdog said North Korea remains the most difficult place in the world for Christians, with the reclusive nation claiming the top spot on the “World Watch List.”

“We did even see some movement in some of their violence indicators this year, which continues to … drive those things forward,” Brown said. “After 32 years that we’ve been reporting this data, it’s been the majority of those years that North Korea has been on top of the list.”

The 2025 “World Watch List” paints a terrifying picture of what persecution looks like inside North Korea under Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, with restrictions increasing throughout 2024.

“If your Christian faith is discovered in North Korea, you will either be immediately executed or deported to a horrendous labor camp that few survive,” the report reads. “The Kim regime relies on tightly controlling people’s behavior and beliefs.”

One news report alleged that 30 teenagers were killed simply because they watched a South Korean drama — an event that shows the lengths to which an extremist regime will go to punish and subjugate.

“Allegiance to anything other than the state [is seen] as a threat to the state,” Brown said. “And, so, any expression of Christianity … typically is looked to be stamped out and with great severity.”

He continued, “If they’re found in possession of a Bible, if they’re engaged in any type of Christian worship, it’s generally expected if that’s not a death sentence, it is a life sentence for imprisonment and in work camps that are deplorable conditions.”

Another nation making waves in the persecution sphere is Nigeria, an African country where radical Islamists are continuously killing innocent Christians.

“I often point to Nigeria as really kind of a snapshot of a pattern that we’re seeing echoed throughout the continent of Africa and in so many places, unfortunately,” Brown said. “Persecution doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s impacted by the greater societal context in which it exists, and when that greater societal context is one where there is inherent instability … there can be vacuums of power.

Too often, he said Islamic militants step into those vacuums to “perpetuate the instability.” Tragically, Christians are often the victims in these scenarios, either becoming prey or simply seeing their rights eroded or ignored.

“There were more Christians that were killed because of their faith in Nigeria this last year than any other place in the globe,” Brown said.

Despite the dire state of affairs, Brown said nations like Indonesia have seen some improvements, with the country dropping off this year’s “World Watch List.”

“The score actually did lower … it dropped by several points,” he said. “And so that’s an encouraging, specifically some of the things that curbed there were some of the expressions of violence, and so that is a good trend, and it appears that officials there are really trying to address those issues of violence.”

Christians Terrorized Around the Globe: How Murder, Torture, Mayhem Point to Growing Persecution | CBN

Christian persecution is continuing to “get worse” across the globe, with Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern (ICC), lamenting the escalating “slow burn.”

King’s organization just released the “2025 Global Persecution Index,” which underscores just how deadly and dangerous anti-Christian persecution has become.

The 116-page report explores “every corner of the world” to identify where these issues are most pervasive, finding that there are around 300 million Christians globally who face a range of punishments, including prison, torture, and assassination.

Listen to the latest episode of “Quick Start”

“We have staff all over the world … so they’re feeding us back news of what’s going on in their countries, and what are the trends, and what are the incidents,” King said of ICC’s data collection for the report. “And then we’ve got a team of fellows.”

He added, “We’re constantly monitoring, and watching … to see what’s happening.”

The “2025 Global Persecution Index” shows a worsening persecution picture, ranging from terrifying government restrictions in China to rampant persecution and land-grabbing inside Nigeria.

Syria is one nation where newfound threats are on the horizon, with King warning that Al-Qaeda and ISIS are taking control after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. While the militants have been labeled “rebels” by some, he believes what’s unfolding in Syria is far more nefarious, with extremist Muslims taking over.

“That’s who these guys are, they’re called HTS [Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham],” he said, expressing doubt these forces wouldn’t harm or go after Christians. “They did a name change. They did a rebranding, as it were. And these guys are the worst of the worst.”

King also said Russia has destroyed hundreds of churches and heritage sites in Ukraine since Russia’s 2022 invasion, among other disturbing issues.

“And then you’ve got all the usual places like India and Egypt and just all over the world, North Korea, Nigeria,” King said. “It’s an absolutely horrible situation, but it just goes on and on. It’s not necessarily new, but it’s terrible.”

He said Nigeria and North Korea are without a doubt the two most difficult nations to be a Christian, with persecution at the most intense of rates. As for the former, he said Fulani terrorists and other Islamic extremists routinely target the faithful.

“[If] you’re a Christian farmer, you’re a Christian villager … the Fulani terrorists, the Islamic terrorists [might] come in with guns, with machetes, and they shoot, and they maim, and they slice, and they drive you off the land,” King said. “And if you decide to come back, they’ll attack you again.”

He said the Nigerian government often does little to stop the carnage — and added that the U.S. government doesn’t put the required pressure on them to help stop the madness.

“Three-plus million Christian farmers have been driven off their lands,” King said.

As for North Korea, he lamented a government system that tends to “mimic Christianity” by elevating dictator Kim Jong Un to a god-like status.

“They’re constantly being told the propaganda that they live in a utopia and the best country on earth and the United States is the worst place on earth,” King said, noting anyone who goes against that narrative risks their lives.

Tragically, Christians bear the brunt of furor.

“If you’re a real Christian, you’re either killed right away or you’re sent to a gulag, a massive, massive prison camp,” he said. “These prison camps, some of them are the size of Washington, D.C., and they’re basically slow extermination chambers.”

Two examples of how the Biden-Harris administration persecutes Christians | WINTERY KNIGHT

I do have some churchy Christian friends who like to say that they don’t want to get involved in a “culture war”, and they don’t see much difference between the political parties. I have an idea of why they say things like this, and I’ll talk about that below. But first, let’s see two examples of how the Biden-Harris administration went after Christians, and is even doubling down on the persecution.

First story is from the wonderful Virginia Allen, who writes for the Daily Signal and also does their podcast.

She wrote this article in Life News:

The Biden-Harris administration finalized a rule in April requiring foster parents to affirm a child’s gender ideology.

“The provider must commit to establishing an environment that supports the child’s LGBTQI+ status or identity,” according to the rule issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The policy, says Herbie Newell, president and executive director of Lifeline Children’s Services, “made people of faith into a different category of foster and adoptive parent, saying that because they didn’t give in to this pro-radical LGBTQ+ agenda, that they couldn’t foster any child with gender dysphoria or any child that might be having any questions about their LGBTQ status.”

“Faith-based Christian people were put on the sidelines and not able to participate in our foster care and adoption system in the same way,” Newell says.

I heard about this story on the Daily Signal podcast, so if you would rather listen to the interview with the Lifeline guy (I thought he was very good, although he did say “during Biden’s pregnancy” when he meant “during Biden’s presidency”). Virginia Allen sounds great.

Anyway, you would think that this would be a concern for the church Christians, who don’t want to get involved in the “culture war”. Usually when I tell them stories like this, they say “well, I think Jesus would attend a same-sex wedding, I certainly would”. So, that’s their attitude to sin, go and participate in it. And the Christians who don’t deserve to be persecuted by the state.

Anyway, here’s another one that I found in Daily Signal. It’s written by Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell. This article is even more scary, because the DOJ is facing a house-cleaning right now, and you would think they would cool it with the secular leftist fascism. But no. More fascism. Fascism piled on top of fascism.

It says:

The Justice Department filed a reply Tuesday supporting its motion for a gag order against Dr. Eithan Haim, a surgeon indicted by the Biden-Harris administration after he blew the whistle on sex-change procedures for minors.

“The prosecutors in @eithanhaim’s case are doubling down on their shameless effort to ask the court to censor us and our client on @X,” the Burke Law Group, which is representing Haim, said on X. “We will continue to zealously represent @EithanHaim’s liberty, and now his (and our) First Amendment right to Free Speech.”

Haim initially came forward as an anonymous whistleblower to expose gender treatments being performed on minors at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He is facing four felony counts of violating the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA, according to journalist Chris Rufo, who first reported on Haim’s story.

The Justice Department’s reply in support of its motion for a gag order against Haim and his legal team said the order would “prevent the defendant and his attorney from making inflammatory and unfairly prejudiced statements.”

[…]Haim was a resident at the Baylor College of Medicine from June 2018 to June 2023. He worked at Texas Children’s Hospital during part of his residency.

The gag order would “completely prevent Dr. Haim or his counsel from criticizing the prosecution, no matter how correct the criticism,” according to Burke Law Group.

[…]The DOJ particularly wants to prevent Haim from retweeting allies who have defended him on X, including Ethics and Public Policy Center legal expert Ed Whelan; Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas; psychologist and author Jordan Peterson; and Rufo, according to Burke Law Group.

So, this “gag order” procedure is very common. In fact, if you watched Matt Walsh’s first movie “What is a Woman?”, he spoke to a father who was having his child transed against his will. The court slapped a publication ban on the legal proceedings. The father was banned from speaking about the trial and from “misgendering” the child. Basically, they want to control people’s lives, but they don’t want anyone to publicize what they are doing, so that they might be shamed or disapproved of.

So, here is why many Christians say “I don’t want to get involved in the culture war”.

The reason is that they don’t have a plan to serve God that would be affected by laws and policies. They read the Bible. They attend church. But if they have to choose between advocating for Jesus’ vew of marriage, or going to a same-sex wedding in order to appease their leftist spouse, then they choose to appease the leftist spouse and go to the same-sex wedding. Why? Because they don’t think that obedience to God should ever result in any bad consequences for them. No bad feelings. No social disapproval. No being cut off by family members, like in Matthew 10:34-38.

For me, I have an interest in laws and policies because I do have a Christian life plan. And I understand that the secular left does not want me to achieve that Christian life plan. They have all of their own ideologies, and they want me to give up on Jesus, and bow down to their ideologies. And they get a lot of “Christians” like David French and Russell Moore to swap out Jesus for their ideologies. Me, I would prefer to stick with Jesus. And I understand that if the laws and policies don’t allow the secular left to force me to choose between Jesus and secular left ideologies, then I will have a much more productive life for my Boss. Instead of having to face false accusations, pay legal fees, go on trial, go to jail, etc. I can take more of my money and give it to FreeThinking Ministries (which has a matching grant right now!) or Eric Chabot or someone else worthy. So that’s why I care about laws and policies.

Christians Increasingly Face Persecution Throughout India | International Christian Concern

11/25/2024 India (International Christian Concern) — In 23 of India’s 28 states, Christians endure discrimination and violence daily, according to a report by the New Delhi-based civil society organization United Christian Forum (UCF).

UCF’s “Violence Monitor Report 2024” compiled incidents reported from January to October through its helpline. The list of incidents includes physical violence, murder, sexual violence, intimidation and threats, social boycotts, damage to religious properties, desecration of religious symbols, and disruption of prayer services.

October data revealed that 12 cases targeted women specifically, while 14 incidents involved Dalit Christians, and 24 were against tribal Christians, reflecting the vulnerabilities faced by marginalized communities within the Christian population.
Around 673 incidents were reported on the UCF helpline this year through October, with two North Indian states, Uttar Pradesh (182) and Chhattisgarh (139), leading with the highest number of incidents.

Out of these 673 alleged incidents of violence and discrimination, only 47 cases were registered as First Information Reports (FIRs). Indian police only take cognizable action when a complaint gets registered as an FIR.

UCF National Coordinator A.C. Michael has alleged that it has become difficult for Christians to practice their faith in India as violence against Christians increases throughout the country each year.

According to UCF, in 2014, just before the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power at the federal level, there were fewer than 100 incidents of violence against Christians. In 2018, there were nearly 300 incidents of violence against Christians. That number has increased every year since.

“In 2023, we recorded about 750 incidents, which means two Christians were attacked every day in our country,” Michael said while expressing a deep concern over the deteriorating conditions for Christians in India. “These are organized acts of violence by pro-Hindu groups targeting Christian faiths.”

Michael added that pastors are often detained under false allegations of forceful conversion, and no action is taken against the perpetrators of violence.

Scripture reading: 1 Peter 5:6–10

Key verse: 1 Peter 5:10

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Imagine being forced to leave your home and live in a land far from those you love. Some of us find this hard to visualize, while others have experienced this very trauma. In recent years, we have witnessed entire ethnic groups being forced to flee their homelands for fear of annihilation.

That was the same dilemma facing the early church in Jerusalem. Nero, the Roman emperor at the time, blamed the Christians for a fire that burned a large portion of Rome. Believing Jerusalem was the hub of Christian activity, Nero sought to disperse the early church and crush it by forcing its members to leave the city.

Nero’s persecution of Christians was both relentless and hideous. Yet he could not stop the early church from growing. In fact, though they were forced underground, the church grew at a rapid rate. Today we see this same thing taking place in China and other parts of the world where there is severe persecution. Trial and persecution cause those who suffer to run to God.

Peter reminded the early church that the outcome of their faith would produce results. No matter what you are facing, you can trust that God stands beside you, and He will take your difficulties and persecution and bring a tremendous sense of victory out of each one. Let Him show you how to use life’s difficulties as tools for tremendous spiritual growth and witness to others.

Lord, please teach me how to use life’s difficulties as tools for spiritual growth and witness to others.1
