The entertainment industry is in serious trouble. Even the liberal New York Times is panicking.

This weekend, the Times ran a story about how Hollywood can’t seem to connect to American audiences anymore. It doesn’t matter how many stars are in a movie or how much it cost to make, people just aren’t going to the movies like they used to.

Could it have something to do with all of the liberal lecturing and virtue signaling in movies today?

The NY Times piece is behind a paywall, but conservative entertainment critic Christian Toto wrote about it:

The New York Times published a grim look at this year’s theatrical releases. The report shares what right-leaning commentators have noted for years.

The era of the Movie Star is unofficially over.

The timing couldn’t be more prophetic. Glen Powell, an actor with Cruise-level magnetism and a willingness to please, couldn’t push “The Running Man” to the top of the box office charts. The film opened with a weak $17 million…

Why? How much time do you have? It’s easy to point to the obvious causes:

– The rise of streaming competition
– The shrinking window for films hitting VOD platforms
– The rise of consequential video game titles
– Social media
– Shrinking attention spans in Gen Z
– The pandemic fallout

And the ones media outlets won’t go near.

– Stars made themselves toxic to half the country with their political views
– Stars are, for the most part, over-exposed
– The movies just aren’t very good, in toto
– The Woke Mind Virus still infects the industry
– Hollywood has lost touch with the common man

John Nolte of Breitbart News, who often writes about movies and the entertainment industry, takes a similar point of view:

“Survive till ’25,” was the Hollywood mantra, as though the appeal and quality of the product had nothing to do with that survival.

“Is it time for Hollywood to concede that a lot of moviegoers in North America are never coming back? That movie theaters have permanently lost 20 to 25 percent of their customers?” the Times asked.

Yes, but for only one reason — which has nothing to do with the pandemic, streaming, or early releases to the home video market. And that single reason is … appeal.

If streaming and theatrical windows and the pandemic caused the worst summer box office in 44 years, why did the summers of 2022, 2023, and 2024 produce better box office results?

Like many of America’s cultural institutions, Hollywood needs new leadership.

The people running the entertainment industry are not only failing to sell new movies, they have destroyed brands that were once thought to be unbreakable.

They say a picture of destructive progressive policies is worth 1,000 pounds words. And today the world saw that picture.

Outspoken Trump administration critic and generally useless liberal bureaucrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is facing backlash after proudly posing with a so-called “Peacekeeper” who days later was arrested for murder during a Louis Vuitton robbery. Because, of course.

The man, 35-year-old Keller McMillan, was one of seven charged with murder, burglary, and retail theft after a brazen smash-and-grab at the luxury retailer, according to the Daily Mail. Or, “mostly peaceful”, as Democrats would likely label it.

Prosecutors say the crew used stolen vehicles to ram the store before fleeing at high speed. McMillan and his accomplices allegedly caused the crash that killed 40-year-old father Mark Arceta, who was on his way to his last day of work before paternity leave. His partner gave birth to their son the following day.

Shockingly, McMillan was working as a state-funded “Peacekeeper” — a program Pritzker promotes as a solution to violent crime.

McMillan even sat at a roundtable with the governor earlier this month, where Pritzker praised him and others as examples of “community violence prevention.” A smiling photo of the two was circulated in a press release but quickly scrubbed from Pritzker’s website after McMillan’s arrest.

The Daily Mail writes that McMillan’s criminal past was no secret. His rap sheet stretches back a decade with charges including domestic battery, gang activity, and multiple fugitive warrants — the most recent issued just last October. Critics are now asking how such a figure was ever placed in a taxpayer-backed program supposedly aimed at reducing violence.

Former Riverside police chief Tom Weitzel blasted the governor’s office as “incompetent,” arguing that allowing McMillan into the program and posing with him revealed a “total lack of due diligence.” He called the Peacekeepers little more than a “feel-good” scheme that enlists violent felons instead of keeping neighborhoods safe.

Pritzker, meanwhile, has defended the initiative, claiming these programs make communities safer. But the reality is clear: under his watch, a so-called “peacekeeper” turned out to be a violent criminal, and an innocent father is dead.

Soon after, Michael A. Kirk (a neuropsychiatry researcher) and Hunter Madsen (a public relations consultant) expanded their blueprint into a full-length 398-page bestselling book, After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90s (Doubleday, 1989).

Here were the seven steps they laid out.* Their plan, remarkably and tragically, resulted in one of the fastest and most decisive moral and cultural revolutions in history.

The first two episodes of ‘The Chosen’ season five were released in theaters over the weekend in a strategy that continues to pay off big for Dallas Jenkins and Amazon MGM theaters, earning $11,755,197 over the three-day weekend and another $1,239,119 on Monday, bringing in a total of $12,994,316 over the last four days.

Appearing in 2,478 theaters, this was enough to earn third place at the box office, behind Jason Statham’s A Working Man, an action movie that debuted at $15.2 million, as well as the wretched Snow white, which earned $14.2M in it’s second weekend.

Like previous seasons of “The Chosen,” all eight episodes of the new season will be released exclusively in theaters in a three-part ploy before being released on streaming platforms, with the next episodes appearing in theaters on Friday, April 4, and then again on April 11.

MONTECITO, CA — Meghan Markle announced another Netflix series in which she will discuss how she is dealing with the trauma of the bad reviews from her previous Netflix show.

Producers explained that the next show would follow the Duchess of Sussex as she seeks to discover the reasons for the failure of the last show.

“It’s an in-depth Netflix show about the failure of my Netflix show,” Markle said. “It’ll be eight episodes of me talking about how badly I felt reading all the fallout from people who watched the previous show. I need a lot of space to process the hate, and I invite a lot of my good celebrity friends over to help me work through the trauma.”

Markle’s first Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” garnered excoriating reviews, with social media reactions ranging from “This is pretty bad” to “I wish I’d been kidnapped by the CIA and waterboarded so I didn’t have to watch it.” The series featured episodes with her arranging pre-cut fruit on a tray, moving pretzels from one bag to another, and drinking margaritas on the lawn of her giant mansion.

In Markle’s new show, however, she will work through the pain of dealing with the negative reviews from her first show. “I want to be left alone,” she continued. “And I need privacy, and I can’t deal with this trauma and, José? Are you getting all this on camera? These are real tears!”

At publishing time, Markle and Netflix had already announced a third show to deal with the negative reviews from the second show in which she copes with the bad reviews from the first show.

Harris was reportedly dressed in formal attire as she knelt at the foot of her bed and delivered a stirring message of patriotism, the American dream, and how she had single-handedly solved all the world’s problems and ushered in an era of world peace while the Beanie Babies looked on in respectful silence.

“As your vice president, I successfully secured the southern border, cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, and brokered world peace among all the world’s nations,” she said, reading off a nearby teleprompter. “I couldn’t have done it without the support of the American people and my top aide, Niles, who taught me that a desert is dry, hot land filled with lots and lots of sand, but we can still have so much fun as long as we play in the sun.”

“Excuse me, Mr. Bubbles. I’m speaking.”

Near the end of her speech, Harris thanked Joe Biden for trusting her as VP and for quickly turning around so she could stab him in the back and run a failed presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

According to sources, the emotional speech was cut short when Harris’ husband Douglas Emhoff walked in on her talking to an audience of Beanie Babies.

At publishing time, Douglas Emhoff had donated all the Beanie Babies to Goodwill.

FBI Asks X Users To Please Stop Solving Crimes Before They Do | Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a formal statement, the FBI has called on Internet sleuths, particularly X users, to please stop solving crimes before they have a chance to do so.

The statement comes just hours after X users discovered all suspects and motives related to the recent terror attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas.

The statement reads in part:

“It is in the public interest that all X users stop solving crimes immediately. Solving crime is the responsibility of the federal government and local law enforcement. If we do not solve crimes first, we cannot control the narrative, and that’s important for national security reasons we cannot discuss at this time.”

“You’re going to put us all out of a job,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray, commenting on the public statement. “We’re supposed to be the ones solving crimes. Please stop demonstrating how useless we are.”

As an incentive, the FBI is promising not to raid anyone who complies. “All you have to do is not report on suspects, observe obvious connections to other crimes, or complain when we prosecute parents of school-aged children,” a spokesman for the bureau explained. “You scratch our back, we leave your back alone. Get it?”

At publishing time, the FBI had prosecuted an X user for interfering with a cover-up.

Paul Harvey was one of the great radio personalities of 20th century America. Paul was a Christian man. He was a staunch American patriot and Godly man.

In 2005, Harvey was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ most prestigious civilian award, by President George W. Bush.

Bush said of Harvey’s career. “He first went on the air in 1933, and he’s been heard nationwide for 54 years. Americans like the sound of his voice…over the decades we have come to recognize in that voice some of the finest qualities of our country: patriotism, the good humor, the kindness, and common sense of Americans.”

His popular “Rest of the Story” segment was broadcast into millions of American homes and businesses.

Paul Harvey was also a devout Christian who was deeply concerned that the United States was abandoning God and morality at her own peril.

Every year, starting in 1965, Harvey shared a story at Christmas, ‘The Man and the Birds.’

For decades, our ruling elites have been methodically dismantling the very foundations of Western civilization, leaving behind a wreckage of once-great institutions. TJ Harker, former federal and state prosecutor turned writer, states that their list of transgressions is long: they’ve gutted American culture, normalized perversion, lost wars, dumbed down education, offshored jobs, opened our borders, and bankrupted our treasury.

All the while, they smugly pat themselves on the back, convinced they’re guiding us into some utopian future of social justice and carbon-free living. But what they’ve truly done is impose an intergenerational catastrophe of biblical proportions upon America.

Harker argues the ones most responsible are the ruling elites, their mediocre servants, and their street thugs—the proles. These mediocre yes-men like retired Brigadier General Steve Anderson are the bureaucrats who have risen through the ranks by parroting leftist nonsense.

These spineless shills, as Harker calls them, are eager to please their overlords and will debase themselves at every opportunity to maintain their social status and pensions. Anderson, in his absurd endorsement of Kamala Harris, is emblematic of a class of people who lack the intellectual rigor to think critically or contribute meaningfully to our civilization.

These mediocre men, along with their street enforcers, are dragging this nation into ruin. They’ve traded their dignity and competence for the crumbs of power offered by the ruling elite. And as Harker notes, it’s no coincidence that they despise figures like Vladimir Putin—not because he’s an enemy of the West, but because he reminds them of their inadequacies. In a time that demands strength and wisdom, we are cursed with weak, incompetent leaders who are unfit to guide us through the serious challenges we face. The result? An America that’s failing on every front.

‘I Have Avoided AI In Every Way’: Pastor Issues Big Warning Against Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has become ubiquitous in modern society, but, despite its broad presence, its effects — whether good or bad — remain a mystery.

Nashville-based Pastor Russ Ramsey, an amateur art historian and author, recently appeared on CBN’s “Faith vs. Culture,” where he talked about concerns he has over the prevalence of AI, especially as it pertains to artistic expression.

“I’ve avoided AI in every way, shape, or form,” Ramsey said. “Because I’m a writer, I don’t ever want to not be the one who’s writing the words that I use, even if they’re not as precise or tight as an AI generator might make a paragraph.”

The crux of Ramsey’s concern with AI is simple yet profound: it doesn’t have a soul.

Ramsey’s argument is rich in biblical truth. While Scripture isn’t perfectly clear about the parameters of the soul, the Bible’s writers, each of whom were inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), are unambiguous in their acknowledgment that — as beings made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) — humans are firstly souls and secondarily bodies.

In Acts 2:41, for example, the Apostle Luke referred to human beings who received salvation as “souls.”

“Part of what makes so much of the art that we go visit in museums so powerful is it’s made from someone with a soul and somebody who has experienced suffering,” Ramsey explained. “AI doesn’t know what suffering is and AI doesn’t have a soul.”

“So technically — and even creatively — we can see things we never would have imagined seeing before, but it’s not coming from someone who’s wept,” he continued. “It’s not coming from someone who’s buried a loved one. It’s not coming from somebody who’s been caught in sin and had to repent. And, in that sense, my concern is that, culturally, we’re moving to a place where we’re trying to normalize avoiding those parts of the human experience that really are integral to spiritual growth.”

While Ramsey certainly addresses the issue of AI from a Christian perspective, it’s a topic that has, in recent years, garnered a great deal of consternation.

Last year, Hollywood actors went on strike over a host of matters, including the use of artificial intelligence in celebrities’ performances. Studio executives and actors were battling over whether performers’ images could be scanned, paid for a day of acting, and their likenesses used by film and television studios in perpetuity, according to Wired.

Needless to say, the conversation about AI and its role in society is not going away. So it’s important to have conversations about a biblically moral approach to its use and value.
