May 23 A Matter to Pray About

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 58:11–12

Key Verse: 2 Peter 1:3

… as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him whocalled us by glory and virtue.

Have you evaluated your spiritual life lately? If you did a thorough assessment of your perspective of God, you might be surprised by what you find.

Millions of Christians have received Christ as their Savior, but still give in to the allure of sin. Faith becomes merely a habit or an accessory, rather than a heart conviction and a way of life. When pulled in two directions, such people compromise themselves because they are convinced that they can’t live the way Christ did.

There are several reasons for this kind of erroneous thinking:

  • They are probably ignorant of God’s Word and the power He gives us to live out authentic Christianity.
  • They may think that their behavior is acceptable because they see other Christians living the same way—they are looking at their friends, not at Christ.
  • Those who refuse to surrender completely to the Lord will never know the power of His Spirit to overcome sin.

If you struggle with any of these issues, remember that you are a new creation in Christ. You can draw strength from God’s divine nature, which lives in you (2 Peter 1:3). It is available for the asking.

When you pray today, ask God to extinguish your love for the world and to replace it with a love for Him and His Word. Pray for Him to fill you with His Spirit so that you can discern wisely. “You will be … like a spring of water whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:11 niv).

Father, extinguish my love for the world. Replace it with a love for You and Your Word. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can discern wisely.[1]

May 23 Overcoming Power

Scripture Reading: Luke 24:14–32

Key Verse: John 14:16

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

Luke told the story of two people on their way to Emmaus after the Crucifixion. They were greatly dismayed and discouraged by what seemed to be the end of their dreams. They had thought Jesus would free Israel from Roman rule. Now that He was dead, all hope appeared lost until their eyes were dramatically opened by the risen Savior.

All of us have known the crushing feeling of disappointment, especially when we think God is leading us a certain way and things turn out differently. However, the death of Jesus Christ was not an ending but a wondrous beginning. His disciples as yet had not been empowered with the Spirit of God. Therefore, their spiritual perspective was limited.

No one, including the disciples, could grasp the power available to them until after pentecost had come. Only then were Christ’s followers fully clothed with power from on high.

The powerful message of the Resurrection is that God now inhabits the hearts of His people through the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit. The next time you feel doubtful or discouraged, remember the power God gave to you through His Son. It is overcoming power from on high—over all the power of the enemy—and it is given to every person who places faith in Jesus Christ.

Almighty God, thank You for the power of pentecost, which surges through my spirit today. I praise You for overcoming power from on high that triumphs over all the forces of the enemy.[1]

May 23 The Focus of Your Life

Scripture reading: Psalm 27:1–14

Key verse: Psalm 27:14

Wait on the Lord;

Be of good courage,

And He shall strengthen your heart;

Wait, I say, on the Lord!

In Psalm 27, David was in the process of rousing his faith back to the point where he could say without a doubt that “the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”

However, in Psalm 26, things did not appear so bright, and David pleaded his case before the Lord. When you face doubts and fears, what do you think of? Are God’s hope and intervention realities you believe? They should be.

God answers the heartfelt cries of His people. He wants you to know and believe that He will deliver you from all trouble. And even if the trouble remains for a season, He will provide and care for you.

Your responsibility is simply this: be willing to love and worship God. Sound too simplistic? Try it for a week. Let go of arguing your point of view. Put aside resentment, self-righteousness, and any pride that have placed enmity between you and others. Then set the focus of your life and heart on Jesus Christ. Doing this may be one of the toughest things you have ever done.

But over time you will notice small irritations have vanished. The need for recognition disappears, and there is an inner peace like nothing you have felt before. Instead of nervously worrying about tomorrow, you realize that God is the Captain of your soul. You can wait for God’s blessing just as David did because you have tasted His goodness.

Thank You for the inner peace that comes in Your presence, Lord. Help me to keep my focus on You instead of worrying about the future.[1]

No Wonder Obama Intel Chiefs Panicking – Trump To Declassify “Bucket 5” Russiagate Docs

Article Image

As Congressional Democrats insist on conducting post-Mueller probes into President Trump and those around him, much of the recent infighting and backpedaling we’ve seen from former Obama intel chiefs is starting to make sense.

Appearing with Fox News‘s Sean Hannity Tuesday night, The Hill‘s John Solomon revealed that according to his sources (and Hannity’s as well), President Trump will begin declassifying ‘Russiagate’ documents in the next 6-7 days.

Among those will be the so-called “Bucket Five” – documents which were originally presented to the Gang of Eight in 2016, which included everything the FBI and DOJ used against Trump campaign aide Carter Page – including the FISA surveillance application and its underlying exculpatory intelligence documents which the FISA court may have never seen.

Hypocrite Elijah Cummings Accused of Tax Violation Refuses to Show His Taxes, Still Demands Trump’s

What’s the old saying? If Democrats didn’t have double-standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all, right? Well, while some people might scoff at that idea, this story pretty much proves just how deep the left’s hypocrisy goes.

Jussie Smollett Court Records To Be Unsealed, Judge Rules “No Right To Privacy”

A judge in Chicago ordered the file in Jussie Smollett’s criminal case unsealed Thursday, saying the actor’s actions did not appear to be those of someone seeking to maintain his privacy.

As a reminder, the “Empire” actor had been charged with 16 counts alleging he lied to police when reporting he’d been the victim of a racist, anti-gay attack in January. Police insist Smollett, who is black and gay, staged the incident because he was unhappy with his salary and wanted publicity.

Prosecutors dismissed all charges, though, with little explanation on March 26.

Smollett’s lawyers had argued that since the case was dropped, Smollett had “the right to be left alone.”

Judge Steven G. Watkins of the Circuit Court of Cook County disagreed.

Apparently hoisted by his own self-promoted pitard; as The New York Times reports, in explaining his ruling, Judge Watkins wrote that Mr. Smollett’s request for privacy was not a good enough reason to keep the records sealed, considering that Mr. Smollett willingly spoke about the situation in detail on national television and in other venues.

“After the March 26 dismissal, he voluntarily stood in front of cameras from numerous news organizations in the courthouse lobby and spoke about the case,” Judge Watkins wrote.

“These are not the actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy or simply be let alone.”

As AP reports, Natalie Spears, an attorney representing media organizations that wanted the file unsealed, applauded Watkins’ decision Thursday.

“This is about transparency and trust in the system and we believe the public has a right to know what the government did and why,” she said after the hearing.

Speaking outside the courtroom on Thursday, Mr. Watson said that he was unsure whether he will appeal the judge’s decision and that he had to speak with Mr. Smollett before making any next steps.

New York Times Wins Pulitzer For Unparalleled Work In Publishing Blatant Lies — The Babylon Bee

NEW YORK, NY—The New York Times increased its impressive collection of Pulitzer Prizes this week after an opinion piece published by the paper was instantly awarded a Pulitzer in the category of “Blatant Lies.”

The piece, titled “Pregnancy Kills, Abortion Saves Lives,” was written by Dr. Warren M. Hern. It claimed that abortion, a procedure specifically designed to end the life of a human, saves lives, while pregnancy, a process specifically designed to create a life, ends humans.

While that may sound confusing, it’s more clear when you realize that the Times was really trying to be recognized in this new Pulitzer category.

“We saw that Columbia University had created the new category for blatant lies, and we really wanted to go for it,” an editor for the paper’s opinion section said. “There was a lot of competition for the award, what with the Post and The New Yorker out there. But we just went gung-ho trying to nail this sucker down.”

Though Pulitzers are usually awarded annually, this lie was so impressive that Columbia said they “just had to” get it awarded right away.

Not Until This Hits Close to Home Does the Realization Come That We Are Under Siege!

Absolute Truth from the Word of God

We watch in horror as the illegal immigrants pour into our country. Weren’t we told that a wall would be built?  I just read yesterday that less than two miles of this wall has actually been erected.

I have written numerous articles about “forced migration” since 2015. This is funded by George Soros (are you shocked?) – the buses, the food, the medical help. The forced migration of people all over our planet is part of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals set in 2015.

Many who have little discernment, might think that this is a humanitarian effort on the part of the U.N.  Nothing could be further from the truth!  At the heart of this well-funded and well-planned attack upon counties all over the world has one goal:  Destabilization of nations.

This is how the NWO – One World Government will be accomplished.

Look at Europe – these nations…

Here’s Why Millennials Are Having Huge Problems — Christian Research Network

“The only moral rule that we follow in this culture is if it feels good to do it. You see this expressed in how we treat sex, in just a hookup culture rather than a more “traditional” culture. You see it in how we approach our free time. What do people do in their free time? They play video games and they watch porn and that is the definition of if it feels good do it.”

(Michael Knowles – Daily Wire)  According to the Global Millennial Survey, 52 percent of millennials said that earning a high salary was a top priority and 48 percent of millennials don’t care about earning a high salary….

Why not? The charitable view is well we’re just not attached to stuff, we don’t need your corporate structure. I think a more realistic view is millennials are kind of lazy. It’s just socialism — why would you work hard if you’re not going to get that much more out of it? Why would you say, I’d be willing to settle for an okay salary if I don’t have to work hard? The people who build things, the people who do great things and the people who really succeed at the top, they all work super hard. They’re not willing to settle. In terms of money, if they make a hundred thousand dollars a year, they want to make a million dollars a year.

Some people if they make a hundred thousand dollars a year, they say okay cool I’m going to only work this hard for the rest of my life — great. But people who really build things and work really hard, they’ll say no I want more. Even if they don’t get more, a hundred thousand dollars is a great salary, but they say no I’m going to work even harder. The people that I’ve met who are really succeeding at the top of their game — the ones who have made a ton of money or have gotten super famous or have been really effective in politics — the one thing I notice about all of them is they are working all the time; they are workhorses. Police Report Alleges James MacDonald Threatened Worker With Gun, Practiced Shooting at Church Camp With Pictures of People He Didn’t Like as Targets — BCNN1 – Black Christian News Network

Embattled Harvest Bible Chapel founder James MacDonald, who allegedly sought to hire a hitman to commit murder, is also alleged to be a gun-toting bully who practiced his shooting at the church’s camp.

He once pointed a gun at a former worker who requested payment, witnesses told police.

The details were revealed in a heavily redacted report from Wilmette police in Illinois in which McDonald denied to one would-be victim that he had shopped for a contractor to murder the individual.

“MacDonald had learned of the podcast and murder for hire talk. MacDonald told [redacted] the rumors that he wanted [redacted] killed were untrue,” the report says.

The allegations regarding MacDonald’s efforts to commit murder were first reported by independent journalist Julie Roys, who cited Chicago radio personality Mancow Muller and Emmanuel “Manny” Bucur, a deacon at HBC and former confidant and volunteer bodyguard of MacDonald’s, as the individuals making the claims.

While all the names in the recently released report have been redacted except MacDonald’s, Muller confirmed that he filed the report last Thursday that triggered the investigation into the murder-for-hire allegations against MacDonald.

Concern over MacDonald was raised, according to the report, “because of his guns.”

“[Redacted] said it was well known that MacDonald is always armed. [Redacted] heard two specific stories concerning MacDonald and firearms. The church owns a large property in Michigan where they run a camp. MacDonald would shoot long guns there and used pictures of people’s spouses he disliked as targets,” the report says.

“The other example concerned a contractor working on MacDonald’s [redacted] residence. The contractor requested payment for his work, but MacDonald pointed a rifle at the man instead and pushed him down some steps,” it continues.

When witnesses were asked why they waited so long to report MacDonald, one cited fear as a major factor.

Canadian Theaters BAN “Unplanned” Because of Its Pro Life Message

Absolute Truth from the Word of God

This story evoked so many emotions in me.

First, it gave me profound sadness that the Canadian people (as a whole) would be this heartless about he plight of the unborn.

Then, I became angry. Not so much angry at the people of Canada as I am ANGRY at Satan and his minions. He is the father of  the pro-choice baby killing movement, and the crazed groups of people who march for their right to slaughter the unborn – even up to the day of birth;  are following Satan and they’re not ashamed of it.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”  (John 10:10). KJV

If you do not see this as satanic, then if I were you – I’d check my spiritual condition.

Federal Rats Are Fleeing the Sinking Collusion Ship — Christian Research Network

“Even their progressive media handlers are starting to sense the desperation in their new yarns — and the possibility that these hired-gun analysts or guests were themselves guilty of crimes and were using their media platforms to fashion their own defense.”

(Victor Davis Hanson – Townhall)  The entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative was always implausible.

One, the Washington swamp of fixers such as Paul Manafort and John and Tony Podesta was mostly bipartisan and predated Trump.

Two, the Trump administration’s Russia policies were far tougher on Vladimir Putin than were those of Barack Obama….

Trump confronted Russia in Syria, upped defense spending, increased sanctions and kept the price of oil down through massive new U.S. energy production. He did not engineer a Russian “reset” or get caught on a hot mic offering a self-interested hiatus in tensions with Russia in order to help his own re-election bid.

Three, Russia has a long history of trying to warp U.S. elections that both predated Trump and earned only prior lukewarm pushback from the Obama administration.

It’s also worth remembering that President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation had been recipients of Russian and Russian-related largesse — ostensibly because Hillary Clinton had used her influence as Secretary of State under Obama to ease resistance to Russian acquisitions of North American uranium holdings.  View article →

ICE Wants To Track Electronic Devices — Through Time
ICE is searching for geolocation services technology that can give an accurate location—either pinpoint or a designated polygonal area—for connected devices within a specific time window. The service should be able to identify locations going back at least two years or more. According to a request for information posted Monday to FedBizOpps, ICE agents may use the service to locate electronic devices from geolocation data obtained through providers and applications, though it is unclear if the service could be used to pull geolocation data from confiscated devices.

The SEC Never Collects On Nearly Half Of The Fines It Levies
The SEC took in just 55% of the $20 billion in fines it sought through settlements or judgments in the five years that ended September 2018, according to agency statistics. In the five years prior to that, the SEC collected on just 60% of the $14.6 billion in fines it issued. And 2018 has been far worse. The commission took in just 28% of the almost $4 billion that it fined, marking the lowest rate in a decade, resulting from a $1.7 billion settlement with Petrobras that “may never require payment to the SEC”. Instead, the settlement allows the company to give the money to Brazilian authorities and other regulators.

May 23, 2019 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

21. Remember these things, O Jacob. He now applies to the use of the people what he had so often said about the superstitions and falsehoods of the Gentiles, by which men who are not well instructed are deceived in the worship of God. Nor does he write these things solely for the men of his own age, but chiefly for their posterity, who were to be carried away into Babylon, and might have been corrupted by long intercourse with the Babylonians, and drawn aside from the true worship of God, if the Lord had not laid upon them those restraints. The Prophet therefore exhorts them, while they were held captive, to bring those exhortations to remembrance, and by means of them to strengthen their hearts amidst those grievous calamities.

For thou art my servant, I have formed thee. He adds this reason why they ought to remember these promises, and to beware of the general contagion of other men; for it would have been intolerable that the elect people, whom God had surrounded by the barriers of his Law, that they might be separated from others, should freely and indiscriminately mingle with the pollutions of the Gentiles. As if he had said, “It is not wonderful that the Babylonians should wander in their errors, but thou oughtest to be unlike them; for ‘I have formed thee,’ that thou mightest ‘serve me;’ I have regenerated and sanctified thee, that thou mightest be an heir of eternal life.”

Of this creation we have stated largely, on former occasions, that it relates to the renewal of the soul. Scripture frequently employs this argument, “Ye have been called to sanctification and not to uncleanness,” (1 Thess. 4:7,) “Walk as the children of light” (Eph. 5:8) “in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation,” (Philip. 2:15,) and in other passages of the same kind. Here we ought to infer that we shall be doubly punished, if it shall be found that we have quenched by neglect or indifference the light by which the Lord hath enlightened us; for our criminality will be far greater than that of others on whom he has not bestowed a similar favour. Heathens shall indeed be punished, and no excuse of ignorance shall be of any avail to them; but far heavier shall be the punishment of those who shall abuse the grace of God.

Do not thou forget me. He means that it is impossible for any who have once entered into the right path to be led aside from it, if they are not chargeable with forgetfulness of God; for error and delusions can never prevail, so long as the remembrance of God is rooted in our hearts. Let every one, therefore, who turns aside from God, and falls into superstition and impiety, lay the blame on his own wickedness. We ought thus to observe carefully the cause of apostasy, that is, forgetfulness of God, which gradually withdraws us from the right path, till we leave it altogether. Besides, he reminds them that by this remedy they will be secure against revolt, if they be employed in constant meditation; for our minds, through their sluggishness, easily contract rust, so to speak, which infects and corrupts all knowledge of God till it be entirely destroyed.[1]

21 Here the prophet draws on one of the great themes of Deuteronomy: Remember (cf. Deut. 8:2, 11, 18; 9:7). There it signifies the recollection of what God has done in the history of Israel that ought to motivate the people to obedient living. Here, depending to some extent on the precise meaning assigned to “these things,” it is not so much the specific acts of God that are to be remembered as certain concepts about him. Nevertheless, the sense is the same: life is to be lived on the basis of reflection on the character of God as revealed in his treatment of his people in their historical experience. Reflection on the great natural cycles or on recurring psychological or sociological characteristics of humanity is not the foundation on which either the Hebrew or the Christian religion is based.

Scholars do not agree as to the precise referent of these things that are to be remembered. The first question is whether the reference is to what precedes in the text or to what follows. Commentators are fairly evenly divided, and a good case can be made for either. On the one hand, “remember” most naturally calls to mind what has already been said, unless there is a specific marker to the contrary (e.g., “I want you to remember what I am going to tell you next”). Furthermore, vv. 21 and 22 seem to form the conclusion to the unit that began at 42:10 and that focused on the evidence that God, not the idols, could redeem his people. Thus the point would be that Israel should remember all the evidence that no idol could possibly keep God from delivering them.

Ranged against this position are such commentators as Pieper and Elliger, both of whom believe that the reference is to what follows, namely, that Israel was formed by God to be his servant and that he has swept away their sins out of pure grace. The chief argument against this otherwise attractive position is that the verses almost certainly now function as a conclusion, at least to 44:6–20, if not to 42:10–44:20. That is, it is hard to see the call to remember focusing on just the following clauses, when all the great assertions concerning God’s nature and character vis-à-vis the gods have preceded.

All of Israel’s remembering is to be in the context of her special relationship to God. He had not merely shaped her, but he had shaped her for the special purpose of service. The role of servanthood is mentioned twice in three phrases, and the second occurrence is emphatic. Thus in the light of all that has been said about the Lord’s superiority over the idols and in the light of this special relationship that Israel bears to him, she must not interpret the exilic experience to mean that God has forgotten her. The purpose for which he created her—evidence of his sole Godhood—has not yet been fulfilled. How can he cast her off?[2]

21. Remember—“Be not like the idolaters who consider not in their heart” (Is 44:19).

these—things just said as to the folly of idol-worship.

my servant—not like the idolaters, slaves to the stock of a tree (Is 44:19). See Is 44:1, 2.

thou … not … forgotten of me—Therefore thou oughtest to “remember” Me.[3]

Ver. 21.—Remember these; rather, remember these things: i.e. the futility of idols and the folly of the idol-worshippers. For thou art my servant. Therefore bound to worship me, and not the idols (comp. ch. 41:8; vers. 1, 2). I have formed thee (so also in ch. 43:1, 21; vers. 2, 24). The duty of absolute unquestioning obedience seems contained in the relation of that which is formed to that which has formed it. On the other hand, it may be assumed that he who has formed a thing will have a constant care of it and regard for it—that at any rate he will not “forget” it.[4]

May 23 A Tool of the Tempter

scripture reading: Matthew 18:6–14
key verse: Matthew 18:6

Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

No one likes to feel used by another person. Yet when we cause other believers to stumble in their Christian walk, we have unwittingly become tools of the tempter. When we spread gossip in the office, dress immodestly, speak coarsely, or allow questionable television programs in our homes, we can be the tempter’s agents. Suppose you were asked: “Do you want to be used by Satan?” Surely your answer would be an adamant “No!”

Our wily adversary, however, has no qualms about using our sins and wayward habits to delude and deceive other Christians. While each of us is responsible for the response to temptation, we can avoid any compliance with the deceiver’s tactics as we understand a crucial truth: each Christian is part of Christ’s body. Our actions are never in isolation. For good or evil, our behavior affects the health and vitality of other believers.

Therefore, it is for your well–being as well as the rest of the body of Christ that you live obediently. God desires that you be a blessing to others, not a curse. Let your love for believers keep you and them from temptation.

Heavenly Father, as part of the body of Christ, I realize my actions are not in isolation. Let me be a blessing and not a curse to others. Don’t let me lead others into temptation.[1]

23 may (1858) 365 Days with Spurgeon

Looking unto Jesus

“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

suggested further reading: 1 Timothy 2:1–7

See there he sits in heaven, he has led captivity captive, and now sits at the right hand of God, for ever making intercession for us. Can your faith picture him today? Like a great high priest of old, he stands with outstretched arms: there is majesty in his demeanour, for he is no mean cringing suppliant. He does not beat his breast, nor cast his eyes upon the ground, but with authority he pleads, enthroned in glory now. There on his head is the bright shining mitre of his priesthood, and look you, on his breast are glittering the precious stones whereon the names of his elect are everlastingly engraved; hear him as he pleads, hear you not what it is?—is that your prayer that he is mentioning before the throne? The prayer that this morning you offered before you came to the house of God, Christ is now offering before his Father’s throne. The vow which just now you uttered when you said, “Have pity and have mercy,”—he is now uttering there. He is the Altar and the Priest, and with his own sacrifice he perfumes our prayers. And yet, mayhap, you have been at prayer many a day, and had no answer; poor weeping suppliant, you have sought the Lord and he has not heard you, or at least not answered you to your soul’s delight; you have cried unto him, but the heavens have been as brass, and he has shut out your prayer, you are full of darkness and heaviness on account of this, “Look to him, and be lightened.” If you do not succeed, he will; if your intercession be unnoticed, his cannot be passed away; if your prayers can be like water spilt on a rock which cannot be gathered up, yet his prayers are not like that, he is God’s Son, he pleads and must prevail.

for meditation: The prayers of the true seeker and of believers are not a waste of effort; they are not like letters lost in the post, but reach the throne of God (Acts 10:4; Revelation 5:8). But only praying in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is accepted; prayers addressed to saints, to false gods or to the dead are always turned away—“not known here.”

Robert Mueller Resists Democrats Request to Testify | National Review

Robert Mueller(Larry Downing/Reuters)

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is resisting congressional Democrats’ request that he testify publicly about details of his investigation that were not included in his final report, the Washington Post first reported Tuesday.

Mueller and his representatives have reportedly reached an impasse in their negotiations with House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler, who would like him to speak publicly about a range of issues, including whether the president could be charged with obstruction of justice absent Department of Justice guidelines that prohibit the indictment of a sitting president.

As they navigate the question of whether the obstructive behavior attributed to Trump in the Mueller report warrants impeachment, a number of top Democrats have repeatedly insisted that lawmakers must hear from Mueller himself before a decision can be made. They have also suggested that they would like to question Mueller about whether he believes Attorney General William Barr’s summary of his report misrepresented its findings.

Barr told the Wall Street Journal that he has no problem with Mueller testifying before Congress, but Democrats have accused the Department of Justice of intentionally delaying negotiations over any such testimony. Trump has said it is Barr’s decision whether Mueller can appear before Congress.

News of the impasse comes hours after former White House counsel Don McGahn failed to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions about Trump’s alleged efforts to interfere in the Mueller probe.

“Let me be clear: This committee will hear Mr. McGahn’s testimony, even if we have to go to court to secure it,” Nadler said after the hearing.

During the Tuesday hearing, Representative Doug Collins of Georgia, the ranking republican on the Judiciary Committee, accused Democrats of delaying Mueller’s testimony out of a reticence to accept his findings.

“We’ve subpoenaed the documents, we’ve subpoenaed the underlying documents, we’ve subpoenaed stuff that we can’t get, but the one thing that we seem to avoid is Mr. Mueller himself, the one who wrote it,” Collins said. “We’ve asked since April about Mr. Mueller coming. But every time we seem to get close to Mueller, Mueller just gets pushed on a little bit. Haven’t seen a subpoena here, and this is what’s really amazing — we’ll get back to subpoenas in a moment — but just think about that. You wanted the work of the author, but you don’t want to talk to the author.”

The House Intelligence Committee, led by Chairman Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), is also currently in negotiations to secure Mueller’s public testimony.

“I feel very confident saying Mueller’s going to testify,” Schiff told ABC News. “There’s no way that he cannot, and the public won’t stand for it. I think the Justice Department knows they’re on the poorest of ground in trying to prevent his testimony.”
