Tips in Dealing with Disappointment with God and others — THINKAPOLOGETICS.COM

There are many people out there who have said they used to a Christian. Or, they may say they are dealing with a faith crisis and whether they will stick with the faith. Others have experienced disappointment with God and others. They had expectations of God and other people and have been let down. In this clip, we discuss some of these issues. We also discuss issues of apostasy.

Why Francis Schaefer Matters: The Line of Despair – Part 3 — Veritas et Lux

The Loss of Antithesis The loss of antithesis in American culture led to what Dr. Schaeffer coined the “line of despair” or giving up all hope of achieving a rational unified answer to knowledge and life.  Schaeffer outlines what he believes are the various steps below this line of despair.  He begins with the German philosopher, Georg William Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) who became the first man to open the door into the line of despair.  Hegel taught  what we really have is a thesis, and an opposite antithesis, with the answer of their relationship not a horizontal movement of cause and effect, but a synthesis, or dialectical thinking.  In the end result, Hegel’s philosophy produced a synthesis as opposed to antithesis which could be arrived at by reason. Schaeffer believes that while Hegel opened the door to the line of despair the Danish philosopher, Soren Kierkegaard was the first one to go below the line.    Kierkegaard concluded that one could not arrive at synthesis by reason alone.  Rather, one achieves everything of real importance by taking a “leap of faith.”  Schaeffer, therefore, maintains that Kierkegaard’s conclusions gradually led to the absolute separation of the rational and logical from faith. The Leap of Faith and the Line of Despair What is this leap and what does it involve?  Schaeffer teaches that Kierkegaard’s leap put away the hope of any unity.  Schaeffer writes, “The leap is common to every sphere of modern man’s thought.  Man is forced to the despair of such a leap because he cannot live merely as a machine . . . If below the line man is dead, above the line, after the non-rational leap, man is left without categories.  There are no categories because categories are related to rationality and logic.  There is therefore no truth and no nontruth in antithesis, no right or wrong – you are adrift.” (Escape From Reason, 241, 256). Schaeffer continues to chronicle the subsequent philosophers who followed Kierkegaard’s thought including the atheistic existentialism of Karl Jaspers, Jean Paul Sartre and Martin Heidegger.  These men reasoned below the line of despair and gave up hope of a rational answer to the questions of life.  The end result: they are left with only the anti-rational. Schaeffer proceeds to explain what he considers the further steps under the line of despair.  The first as noted above began with philosophy.  The second step was art.  The third – music.  The fourth – culture, and the fifth step was the new theology which was opened by Karl Barth.  While most refer to this brand of theology as “liberal” or “neo-orthodox,” and rightly so, the issue at hand runs deeper than labels.  Indeed, liberal theology rejects the deity of Christ, the inerrancy of Scripture and the New Testament miracles.  The new theology knows nothing of man being created in the image of God.  But Schaeffer adds further clarity to the issue:  “All the new theology and mysticism is nothing more than a faith contrary to rationality, deprived of content and incapable of contentful communication.  You can bear ‘witness’ to it, but you cannot discuss it.  Rationality and faith are out of contact with each other” (The God Who Is There, 64). Man, therefore, is left in a state of despair which “arises from the abandonment of the hope of a unified answer for knowledge and life.  Modern man continues to hang on to his rationalism and his autonomous revolt even though to do so he has had to abandon any rational hope of a unified answer” (Escape From Reason, 235-236). The Consequences of Despair The consequences and despair of modern man can be found in three areas.  alling prey to nihilism or embracing a worldview that offers no hope. The second is  found in the fact that he accepts a false dichotomy (what Schaeffer calls an “absolute dichotomy”) between nature and grace. However, the modern scheme is presently a dichotomy between contentless faith (no rationality) and rationality (no meaning).  “All the new theology and mysticism is nothing more than a faith contrary to rationality, deprived of content and incapable of contentful communication.  Rationality and faith are out of contact with each other” (The God Who Is There, 64). Third, since there is no integration point between rationality and faith man engages in acts of desperation in order to find meaning, namely, he accepts a mysticism which gives an illusion of unity to the whole.  Hence we understand why the influx of eastern religion such as Hinduism, i.e. the New Age Movement has gained such a popular foothold in America today.  If there is no hope of a unified field of knowledge one must cling to a mystical world-view that has no rational base but promises hope for the present and the future. Schaeffer enhances his discussion by contrasting the Christian faith with modern man’s faith which has turned inward.  In Christianity the value of faith depends upon the object towards which the faith is directed.  So it looks outward to the God who is there, and to the Christ who in history died upon the cross once for all, finished the work of atonement, and on the third day rose again in space and in time.  This makes the Christian faith open to discussion and verification (The God Who Is There, 65). Why Francis Schaeffer Matters: An Introduction – Part 1 Why Francis Schaeffer Matters: The Turning Point in Truth – Part 2 Why Francis Schaeffer Matters: Consequences of Pitting Rationality Against Faith – Part 4

The Best Have Thought the Least of Themselves
Romans 7:15–20; 1 Corinthians 4:9; 15:8–9; Ephesians 3:8; 1 Timothy 1:16

The best of God’s children have abhorred themselves, like the spire of a steeple … the least at the highest.

Desiring Revelations Opens One to Being Deceived

The soul that desires revelations undermines the perfect guidance of the Faith, and opens a door for Satan to deceive it by false revelations; for he knows well how to disguise them so as to make them appear good.

July 15 – Sojourners are free to serve — Reformed Perspective

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men — as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. – 1 Peter 2:15,16

Scripture reading: 1 Peter 2:13-17

Peter continues to flesh out the importance of doing good before a watching world. Do it as those who are free! By God’s grace, we are free from having to earn our salvation, free from guilt, and from the ruling power of sin in our lives. We are free from worrying about what other people think, or what the world is going to do to us. We are free from being selfishly concerned about ourselves. We are free from being enslaved to the lie that we are going to have our best life now. We are free to live and love. But, we are not free to live as we please nor sin. We are free to serve.

Do not live as those who have no time for the world around them. Do not think yourself above the laws of the land: love your city, your region and your country. Submit yourself to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake. Obey the speed limit, pay your taxes, be a model citizen, seek to be a blessing to your neighbor – for the Lord’s sake.

That means you honor God when you honor people and when you submit to the government in all things lawful. It means when you know you are being asked to do something God forbids, you are free and required to stand with God. But remember that it also means that your humble, grace-filled posture can be used by God for the silence and salvation of those who still need to know Him.

Suggestions for prayer

Thank God for all the ways you are free in Jesus Christ. Ask Him to help you to use your freedom to be a servant, to live as a good citizen for the silencing and salvation of unbelievers.

Bow Down; Be Lifted Up — VCY America

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. (1 Peter 5:6)

This is tantamount to a promise: if we will bow down, the Lord will lift us up. Humility leads to honor; submission is the way to exaltation. That same hand of God which presses us down is waiting to raise us up when we are prepared to bear the blessing. We stoop to conquer. Many cringe before men and yet miss the patronage they crave; but he that humbles himself under the hand of God shall not fail to be enriched, uplifted, sustained, and comforted by the ever-gracious One. It is a habit of Jehovah to cast down the proud and lift up the lowly.

Yet there is a time for the Lord’s working. We ought now to humble ourselves, even at this present moment; and we are bound to keep on doing so whether the Lord lays His afflicting hand upon us or not. When the Lord smites, it is our special duty to accept the chastisement with profound submission. But as for the Lord’s exaltation of us, that can only come “in due time,” and God is the best judge of that day and hour. Do we cry out impatiently for the blessing? Would we wish for untimely honor? What are we at? Surely we are not truly humbled, or we should wait with quiet submission. So let us do.

I Want to Experience More of God’s Love — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” (Ephesians 3:19 NLT).

Most of us have sung, “Jesus loves me this I know,” and recited “For God so loved the world,” since we were children. Yet, we don’t experience God’s love. Why is that?

We may have been desperately disappointed by people who claim to love us, and now we are skeptical of love–even God’s love.

When we look to any other person besides God to meet all our love needs, we set ourselves up for disappointment. There is no human being alive that can love us as completely and as fully as we need to be loved, and there never will be. Only God can do that.

On the other hand, we may feel betrayed by God Himself. Maybe we’ve prayed fervently for a need and, instead of the situation getting better, it got worse.  It’s like God doesn’t care.

Now stubborn independence and pride have taken over.  We’re like a pebble in a brook bathed in life-giving water, but because it remains unyielding, it can’t absorb the water.

The Bible tells us that God’s love is available to all:

But God shows and clearly proves his love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 Amp).  “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins
(1 John 4:9, 10).

But love is also relational. For us to benefit from God’s love, we need to respond to it in faith and obedience. We need to make our hearts soft so the love of God can penetrate.

But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him…to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments
(Psalm 103:17 NRSV).

God’s abundant love is swirling all around us, but we need to reciprocate. How? “By fearing the LORD and obeying His commandments.

But aren’t we then earning God’s love? No, we are tuning our hearts to be receptive to God’s love. By faith we affirm His love and by our obedience we respond to his love. As we do so, it becomes a heart-felt reality.

Dear God, thank You that You love me always. I want to tune my heart to receive Your love. I want to be alert to all the reminders of your love you scatter throughout the day.

Walking in Rest — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

“He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves”. Colossians 1:13 (CSB)

Changing from turmoil to peace, from anxiety to trust, from worry to assurance, from striving to rest, comes by changing kingdoms. God moves you from a kingdom of darkness to a kingdom of light…from a kingdom of selfishness to a kingdom of love…from a kingdom of deception to a kingdom of truth.
It is a kingdom where the soul finds mercy and the heart finds grace. In His kingdom you are led, not driven; guided, not pushed; healed, not tormented; fulfilled, not frustrated; freed, not bound; edified, not degraded; encouraged, not provoked; released, not hindered

July 15 Afternoon Quotes of The Day

Fear and Faith
Matthew 8:26; Mark 4:40; Luke 8:25

True fear comes from faith; false fear comes from doubt. True fear is joined to hope, because it is born of faith, and because men hope in the God in whom they believe. False fear is joined to despair, because men fear the God in whom they have no belief. The former fear to lose Him; the latter fear to find Him.

Dread of Difficulty Keeps Many from Improving
Joshua 1:9; Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21

There is one thing that keeps many from zealously improving their lives, that is, dread of the difficulty, the toil of battle. Certainly they who try bravely to overcome the most difficult and unpleasant obstacles far outstrip others in the pursuit of virtue.

IN TODAY’S DIGEST

FEATURED ANALYSIS

Biden Admin Invites UN to Fix ‘Systemic Racism’ in U.S.

As Cuba’s government cracks down on anti-communist protesters, Secretary of State Blinken wants the UN to focus on racism in America.

Thomas Gallatin

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the Biden administration had invited the United Nations to send in so-called experts to investigate “systemic racism” here. “The United States intends to issue a formal, standing invitation to all UN experts who report and advise on thematic human rights issues,” Blinken stated. “As a first step, we have reached out to offer an official visit by the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism and the UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues.”

It’s clear that the Biden administration’s intended target of investigation for these UN “experts” is American law enforcement, as Blinken’s announcement further states: “Last month, the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights released a report on racism and police brutality against Africans and people of African descent at the hands of law enforcement around the world, which includes examination of such cases in the United States… I also welcome the UN Human Rights Council’s adoption today in Geneva of a resolution to address systemic racism against Africans and people of African descent in the context of law enforcement. I look forward to engaging with the new mechanism to advance racial justice and equity.”

In fact, this is not about advancing justice; instead, it’s about the opposite. It’s about advancing the deceitful narrative of “systemic racism” supposedly plaguing America and, more specifically, American law enforcement.

Even Blinken’s justification for issuing this dubious invitation as a means for the U.S. to lead by example and setting “the standard for national responses to these challenges” has proven to do just the opposite. China, whose record of human rights abuses under communist rule is and continues to be one of the worst in human history, deftly used the UN report on racism and historical racial discrimination within the U.S. to promulgate a false equivalence argument in order to deflect from its ongoing genocide of its Muslim minority Uyghur population.

“The U.S. should not forget the innocent African American lives taken by the brutal Tulsa race massacre 100 years ago,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian stated. “The U.S. is in no position to criticize other countries’ human rights conditions. No matter how some in the U.S. go to great lengths along its misguided course to hype up lies on Xinjiang, their political conspiracy to disrupt Xinjiang and contain China will only end up in failure.”

Meanwhile, amidst Cubans marching and protesting for freedom as its communist government engages in a bloody crackdown, the Biden administration is turning a blind eye on genuine and systematic injustice. Moreover, not only does the Biden administration turn a blind eye, but it offers an invitation to all members of the UN Human Rights Council, which ironically includes some of the worst abusers of human rights — China, Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela.

Senator Marco Rubio hit the nail on the head in his response to Blinken’s utterly tone-deaf announcement: “[Secretary Blinken] instead of asking the UN to come here & tell us how ‘racist’ America is, why don’t you ask them to go to Cuba where an evil socialist regime storms into peoples homes, beats the crap out of them & then drags them away?”

If Biden and company want to truly lead by example, then they need to stop lying to and about the American people. They need to stop promulgating the demonstrably false claims of “systemic racism,” they need to stop lying about American law enforcement, and they need to start holding to account those tyrannical and totalitarian governments that genuinely engage in human rights abuses.

BLM Blames Us, Praises Cuban Commies

Is it any wonder that one Marxist organization would heap support upon another?

Douglas Andrews

When the race-baiting Marxist pressure group known as Black Lives Matter scrubbed the most offensive content from its website last year, we can’t say we were surprised. Marxists, after all, are liars. It’s how they come to power. They find an aggrieved and vulnerable group, and they tell them that their problems are the fault of others.

Nor were we surprised yesterday when BLM took to Instagram to issue a statement on Cuba that sounded like it’d been churned out by some mid-level Soviet apparatchik. Still, the intensity of the pro-commie, anti-American invective was impressive even for an organization whose money-grubbing leadership has boldly boasted, “We, uh, are trained Marxists. Um, we are, uh, super, uh, versed, um, on, sort of, ideological theories.”

“Black Lives Matter condemns the US federal government’s inhumane treatment of Cubans, and urges it to immediately lift the economic embargo,” the screed began. “This cruel and inhumane policy, instituted with the explicit intention of destabilizing the country and undermining Cubans’ right to choose their own government, is at the heart of Cuba’s current crisis.”

Here, BLM has it perfectly backward: Our nation’s economic embargo is meant to pressure Cuba’s communist government into allowing its people “to choose their own government.” After all, it’s hard to run a campaign from behind bars — which is where the regime’s political opponents and journalistic truth-tellers typically end up. Not even hard-left Amnesty International could cover for Cuba’s commies: “Freedom of expression, association, and movement,” it once wrote, “continue to be severely restricted.”

Cuba would be in great shape, though, if only Uncle Sam would loosen his purse strings: “Since 1962,” BLM writes, “the United States has forced pain and suffering on the people of Cuba by cutting off food, medicine and supplies, costing the tiny island nation an estimated $130 billion. Without that money, it is harder for Cuba to acquire medical equipment needed to develop its own COVID-19 vaccines and equipment for food production. This comes in spite of the country’s strong medical care and history of lending doctors and nurses to disasters around the world.”

We’re glad it mentions Cuba’s medical “history,” because not even The New York Times will defend the country’s exploitative practice of sending its doctors overseas. According to one of those doctors, the policy is “a form of slave labor.”

To its credit, we suppose, BLM waited until the fourth paragraph to play the race card, but play it the group did: “The people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination. … Instead of international amity, respect, and goodwill, the U.S. government has only instigated suffering for the country’s 11 million people – of which 4 million are black and brown.”

Of course, none of this rhetoric is new. Much of it is old. Just ask that noted Castro apologist Bernie Sanders.

Better yet, ask Senator Marco Rubio, who knows a thing or two about Cuban communism, and who recognizes a corrupt racket when he sees it. “The extortionist ring known as the Black Lives Matter organization,” he tweeted, “took a break today from shaking down corporations for millions and buying themselves mansions to share their support for the Communist regime in Cuba.”

Cuban Solidarity Resolution Garners No Dem Support

House Republicans officially voice their support for Cuban protestors calling for freedom.

Thomas Gallatin

On Tuesday, Florida Republican Representative Mario Diaz-Balart introduced a resolution to explicitly support the Cuban people and their demand for freedom from “the brutal oppression of the Communist dictatorship in Cuba.”

In introducing his resolution, Diaz-Balart notes that “for 62 years, the Cuban people have struggled for freedom and human rights under a brutal, repressive dictatorship.” The resolution:

  • Calls for the release of all political prisoners and for the end of acts of repression, arbitrary imprisonments, torture, and other human rights abuses against the Cuban people;
  • Honors the courageous Cuban people for daring to stand up to the Cuban regime and demanding respect for fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of expression and assembly;
  • Recognizes the brave pro-democracy and human rights activists, including independent journalists, artists, labor leaders, and religious leaders, who have been persecuted throughout decades of Communist tyranny;
  • Urges other democracies, regional and multilateral organizations to affirm that violence against the unarmed people of Cuba will not be tolerated and that human rights abusers will be held accountable for their crimes;
  • Expresses solidarity with the long-suffering Cuban people in their demands for a genuine democratic transition; and
  • Calls on the international community to stand with those struggling for freedom in Cuba by condemning repression and expressing unequivocal support for their rights to self-governance, human rights, and basic liberties.

Diaz-Balart, who is of Cuban descent, has several cosponsors of the resolution in the House, including Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Greg Steube (R-FL), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Liz Cheney (R-WY). Tellingly, however, not a single Democrat has signed on to the resolution — a testament to just how far Democrats have drifted down the socialism hole.

Cali and Florida: A Tale of Two States

When comparing Democrat governance to Republican, the contrast couldn’t be starker.

Douglas Andrews

In Florida, life is good. The tragic and horrific June 24 collapse of the surfside Champlain Towers notwithstanding, the purplish-red sunshine state is dynamic, diverse, welcoming, and well-governed.

In deep-blue California, however, they have tent cities and poop patrols.

Such is the difference between these two hugely important American states — one of them on a roll, and the other one seemingly circling the toilet bowl.

In a fine and comprehensive comparison of these two states, the New York Post’s Kyle Smith poses a few questions:

Should lots of new housing be built in the interest of affordability? California says no, Florida says yes. Should homeless people be allowed to turn public spaces into tent cities? California says yes, Florida says no. Should public elementary schools teach critical race theory? California says yes, Florida says no. Should gas be $4 a gallon? California says yes, Florida says no. Should biological males be allowed to dominate girls’ sports? Florida says no. California not only says yes, but it is trolling Florida by forbidding its employees to take state-funded trips to Florida, as well as 16 other states.

Is it any wonder that California lost population for the first time ever last year, while Florida’s growth was second only to another dynamic and diverse red state, Texas?

It’s too easy to chalk this up to Democrat-versus-Republican governance, but we’re going to do it anyway. After all, California has for years had Democrat supermajorities in both houses of its state legislature, and three of its past four governors have been Democrats. Florida, on the other hand, has had four straight Republican governors: Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist, Rick Scott, and now Ron DeSantis, a rising star within the GOP and, at 42, the youngest governor in the nation.

“A native Floridian with blue-collar roots,” his biography reads, “Ron worked his way through Yale University, where he graduated with honors and was the captain of the varsity baseball team. He also graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer. … His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.”

Just how lucky are Floridians? DeSantis barely beat a human train wreck named Andrew Gillum in the 2018 gubernatorial election. (The margin was 49.59% to 49.19%, a mere 33,000 votes out of more than eight million cast.)

Then there’s California, where Gavin Newsom, the guy with the soap-opera good looks and the awful leftist instincts, now faces a recall election after having cruised to victory with 62% of the vote. Polling indicates that he’ll probably survive the recall and that de Maistre’s age-old observation is true: Every citizenry has the government it deserves. How so? Despite having just 12% of the nation’s population, California has 25% of its homeless.

Elections, then, have consequences, and there’s perhaps no better example of this than a comparison of California and Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Kyle Smith continues:

California introduced some of the harshest lockdown measures in the country, crashing its economy, while Florida was among the first states to begin reopening, way back in May 2020, and has been almost entirely open since September. … One survey found that Florida had the second-fewest coronavirus restrictions; California ranked 45th by the same measure.

As for the psychological and emotional effects of locking children out of schools, we may never be able to measure the harm California did to its youngest citizens. The data firm Burbio, which has been tracking school reopenings, ranks California dead last on its index of in-person learning, [while] Florida scored 95 percent in-person learning, third-best in the nation.

The difference between the two states can be boiled down to a simple question — one that reveals the key to human flourishing: Are your people free, or aren’t they?

The answer shouldn’t surprise anyone. As Smith writes, “Florida is America’s freest state, according to a Cato Institute survey: No. 1 in fiscal freedom, No. 1 in educational freedom.” As for California, Cato calls it “the cronyist state in the union,” a reflection of the ongoing grift and graft that are wrecking the once-great Golden State, the state that Ronald Reagan governed half a century ago.

Elections. They do indeed have consequences.

Taiwan Is Next, but Should We Care?

If Taiwan falls to China, it will mark the end of U.S. leadership for global liberty and democracy — and maybe even our constitutional republic.

B.B. Bell

“Where is Taiwan anyway and why should we care?” It’s likely many Americans ask this question every time they hear or read about Taiwan being China’s next target, and what, if anything, the U.S. should do about it. So for a straight-up answer, let me be clear: If Taiwan falls to mainland China, it will mark the end of the United States as a world military power and as the prime force for freedom and democracy. The end, zilch, nada. And, of course, after the United States is no longer the central force for global freedom and democracy, all bets are off for the future of democracy versus socialism here at home.

Taiwan is a small island state (about 24 million inhabitants) in the western Pacific. There, Chinese nationalists, led by Chiang Kai-shek, took refuge following the fall of China to Mao and the Chinese communists in 1949. Since then, Taiwan has remained a contentious issue for Beijing’s communist government, which has vowed to “reunite” Taiwan with mainland China either peacefully or through force of arms.

But let there be no doubt: Taiwan is one of the brightest lights of freedom and prosperity in the world. Fully democratic, Taiwan routinely holds free and fair elections. Taiwan elected a female (Tsai Ing-wen) as the country’s (yes, I will refer to Taiwan as a country!) president in 2016 and remains staunchly anti-communist. President Tsai was reelected in 2020 with a historically strong majority. Taiwan boasts a significant free market economy, producing the 20th-largest GDP globally — incredible for such a small population. And Taiwan’s per capita income ranks with that of the United States.

A significant majority of Taiwan’s population asserts it will resist and fight any effort by mainland China to militarily force “reintegration” into the communist Peoples Republic of China (PRC). Taiwan seeks strong and stable relations with the United States and, indeed, President Donald Trump talked with President Tsai by telephone following his election as president. Trump was the first commander-in-chief to talk to a Taiwanese president since 1979.

With Hong Kong now securely in its communist pocket, China sees Taiwan as the final roadblock on its way to a fully secure maritime periphery with uninhibited access to the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. China also views the integration of Taiwan into its communist web as the last step to ending its “Century of Humiliation” between 1839 and 1949. Ending the Century of Humiliation is a central driving force to the Chinese communist regime; the taking of Taiwan must and will happen according to Chinese strategic thinking and policy. So let there be no doubt — China is and will be relentless in its pursuit to subdue Taiwan and make it its 24th province — through peace or war.

Much as the vibrant West Berlin was the symbol of the USSR’s unsuccessful efforts to subdue Western democracies in Europe following World War II, Taiwan is today’s symbol of China’s still unsuccessful effort to fully dominate its vast Pacific maritime regions. Taiwan is the one remaining full-throated rebuke to Chinese hegemony over its eastern littoral, and it stands in the way of China’s unfettered access to the Pacific, and thus the world.

If through “peaceful” reintegration — or the more likely requirement for an invasion — China is permitted to grab Taiwan, the U.S. is finished as the democratic global leader for liberty. If we allow this bastion of freedom and democracy to be crushed, our international purpose, cemented by our victory in World War II, as the global “Shining City on a Hill” will end. And many believe, as do I, with the end of our God-given purpose to lead humanity in the quest for freedom and liberty, our nation’s efforts to provide these same inalienable rights to our citizens will end also. America will fade into history as we tumble into so-called democratic socialism (read: Marxism) with an irreversible era of government domination over individual rights and freedom.

The path to our demise is clear, and the international linchpin is a small band of brave Taiwanese patriots over 7,000 miles from our homeland, all of whom face a communist China behemoth just 100 miles to their west. Parroting General Patton as he responded to cries for help from Bastogne, Taiwan is surely a country worth saving! But it is more, much more, than that. To save Taiwan, and thus ourselves, here’s what we must do.

First and foremost, we must — must — make China fear our military presence in the Pacific. Today it does not. That fear begins with the rebuilding and expansion of our Navy. The threat to Taiwan (and to our allies and friends in the Pacific and South China Sea region) is a maritime threat. Thus, to counter it, we must have a dominant maritime force. Period. Full stop. Make our Navy once again the strongest naval force on the planet. This must be the unambiguous national policy of the Biden administration. President Ronald Reagan once envisioned a 600-ship Navy (we currently have less than 300 battle force ships), and today it must again be our fully resourced national requirement and objective, with innovative combatant ship design and capability.

In this, our Marine Corps must be elevated to our first and foremost over-the-shore land combat force. It needs four (not three) active duty, properly resourced, modernized, fully deployable, and ready Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEFs), not the under-resourced and over-committed Marine Corps of today.

Second, our Space Force must be brought up to full capability quickly and decisively. Its mission must be to defeat the PRC’s land and orbital space offensive and defensive capacity, including cyber. There can be no compromise here. We must dominate the space domain.

Third, our Air Force must be fully modernized to overwhelm the PRC’s air capacity tactically, operationally, and strategically. This includes our manned and unmanned Air Force aircraft as well as our offensive strategic and deterrent missile capability. To support our potential naval and ground force operations against the PRC, more aggressive forward basing of our Air Force to locations of greatest impact in the Pacific and South China Sea region must be accomplished.

Fourth, the Army cannot be used as a “bill payer” for these requirements. Indeed, the Army is America’s guarantor of freedom, and it is the force of choice for heavy, sustained land combat operations and ultimate land victory. Modernize the Army, fully resource it, and ensure it is ready for deployment. Ensure the Army’s air defense capability can stop the PRC’s medium- and long-range missiles. Reinstitute the pre-Iraq and Afghanistan Army division structures and reassign Brigade Combat Team force multipliers back to division command and control.

Many will say that this is all too expensive. Hogwash. We are piling trillions and trillions of dollars into non-productive social welfare dependency programs at the expense of free market enterprise, self-dignity, and jobs. Build up our Armed Forces with all that money and give people jobs to do it. Another full stop.

In all this, our alliances will be crucial, both formal and coalition. It is so very sad that across the Pacific region, we have but a few truly functioning security alliances (Australia, Japan, South Korea), but no vision for a decisive NATO-like alliance to contain the expansive hegemonic pursuits of the PRC. China has far surpassed the capability and threat we saw from the Soviet Union when we led the establishment of NATO in 1949, so why are we not actively pursuing the establishment of something like a Pacific Alliance Treaty Organization (PATO), which could stand as the military bastion against China? In addition to Taiwan, countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, Vietnam, New Zealand, Thailand, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia are all clearly threatened by China. There are more, including potentially someday Russia. And as a price for our continuing participation in NATO, we should ensure our European allies are members of PATO and make them bring their guns with them.

Finally, once our military is on an irreversible path to Pacific region military dominance, we must put forth policy that is unambiguous to China. Any military effort to overthrow or dominate Taiwan will be met with a strong and decisive U.S. response, and the same is true for our allies (PATO?) in the region as well.

All these things can and must be done if we are to continue to reinvigorate and lead the global pursuit for liberty. And they must be done now and with great energy and purpose. Time is short. Our issue today is that we lack the leadership and the will to achieve them. Our security and our future as a free and democratic beacon are the responsibility of our government. Who is our future national leader who will bring all this to the fore, help us develop the national will and purpose to save ourselves, and save freedom and democracy for our future generations? We must — must — elect him or her as our next president, along with a supportive Congress, or our future will most surely be determined by the communist leaders in Beijing. Again, time is short.

When Did Moderna Know About COVID-19?

Was the public kept in the dark until a drug company could set itself up to make maximum profits?

Arnold Ahlert

If a report disseminated by a UK website called The Daily Expose is accurate, the world may have a major scandal on its hands.

“A confidentiality agreement shows potential coronavirus vaccine candidates were transferred from Moderna to the University of North Carolina in 2019, nineteen days prior to the emergence of the alleged Covid-19 causing virus in Wuhan, China,” the website reports.

The Expose produced the agreement itself, which can be viewed here. Page 105 is titled “Material Transfer Agreement” between the providers, named as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health (“NIAID”) and Moderna TX Inc. (“Moderna”), and the recipient is named as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The agreement states the providers will give the university “mRNA coronavirus vaccine candidates developed and jointly owned by the NIAID and Moderna.”

The agreement further states the research material may not be used on human subjects or used for “commercial purposes such as screening, production or sale, for which a commercialization license may be required.” The recipients who signed the agreement are Professor Ralph Baric, PhD, and Jaqueline Quay, Director of Licensing & Innovation Support, OTC. The providers are NIAID investigator Barney Graham, MD, PhD; technology transfer specialist Amy Petrik, PhD; Moderna investigator Sunny Himansu, PhD; and Moderna Deputy General Counsel Shaun Ryan. The dates accompanying the recipients’ signatures are December 12, 2019, and December 16, 2019, respectively. The dates under the providers’ first two signatures remain blank, while the second two are both dated December 17, 2019.

“All of these signatures were made prior to any knowledge of the alleged emergence of the novel coronavirus,” The Daily Expose reminds us. “It wasn’t until December 31st 2019 that the World Health Organisation (WHO) became aware of an alleged cluster of viral pneumonia cases in Wuhan, China. But even at this point they had not determined that an alleged new coronavirus was to blame, instead stating the pneumonia was of ‘unknown cause.’”

Its gets even more “curious” than that. Science News published an article titled, “New SARS-like virus can jump directly from bats to humans, no treatment available,” noting that researchers from Chapel Hill discovered “a new bat SARS-like virus that can jump directly from its bat hosts to humans without mutation.”

The senior author of that paper? The same Dr. Ralph Baric who signed the transfer agreement — and the same Dr. Baric who worked with Dr. Shi Zhengli, a.k.a. “bat lady,” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) on coronavirus gain-of-function research.

The year Science News published that article? 2015.

A timeline of the pandemic provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that it requested information “on the reported cluster of atypical pneumonia cases in Wuhan from the Chinese authorities” on January 1. However, it took until January 9 before WHO revealed that “Chinese authorities have determined that the outbreak is caused by a novel coronavirus.”

Thus, the question becomes obvious: Why was an mRNA vaccine developed by Moderna transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill nearly a month earlier?

A 2018 article published by CNBC might provide a clue. It reveals that “Wall Street newcomer” Moderna took a beating on its initial public offering, falling nearly 20%. Nonetheless, self-anointed stock guru Jim Cramer remained optimistic. “It’s got an exciting concept; you can argue that messenger-RNA-based medicine could revolutionize health care,” he asserted.

Three years later, the company has generated $1.94 billion in revenue during the first quarter. Its COVID-19 vaccine generated $1.73 billion of that revenue, and the company predicts the vaccine will generate $19.2 billion in revenue by year’s end. “Twelve months ago in Q1 2020, Moderna had never run a phase 3 clinical study, never got a product authorized by a regulator, and never made 100 million doses in a single quarter,” boasted company CEO Stéphane Bancel. “I am very proud of what the Moderna team has achieved.”

Americans might less enthused. For more than a year, anyone who even suggested COVID-19 originated anywhere other than nature was dismissed as a conspiracy theorist. Will those same howls of derision be aimed at anyone who dares to wonder why the development of a vaccine for a virus preceded public knowledge of that virus?

Still more “curious”? A cancer study published in November 2019 revealed the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RBD-specific antibodies in 11.6% of its patients. Since antibodies take time to develop, it’s possible some patients had active infections as early as August 2019. “This study shows an unexpected very early circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among asymptomatic individuals in Italy several months before the first patient was identified, and clarifies the onset and spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic,” it stated. “Finding SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in asymptomatic people before the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy may reshape the history of pandemic.”

Unless history is obliterated by propaganda. It is no secret that an increasingly authoritarian Biden administration and its media echo chamber are all in on getting every American vaccinated, whether they want it or not. It is also no secret that those who even dare to suggest there are viable alternatives to the vaccines — alternatives that would abrogate the “emergency use authorization” under which all vaccines are being administered — are being dismissed as quacks and/or demonetized.

Yet reality continues to intrude. According to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), as of July 7, 2021, there have been a reported 438,440 adverse reactions to vaccines, including 9,048 deaths. And while the media remain determined to frame vaccine resistance in terms of “enlightened” blue states vs. “backward” red states, the Kaiser Family Foundation reveals that as of July 8, the two cohorts with the lowest vaccination rates nationwide are blacks (34%) and Hispanics (39%). By contrast, 47% of whites and 62% of Asians have been vaccinated.

At the very least, the above data elicit concern, and also reveal that millions of Americans remain highly skeptical of what they are being told. That skepticism will undoubtedly be amplified by the latest revelation that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will have a new warning added to its label noting that the shot is linked to a “rare side effect” known as Guillain-Barré syndrome, a malady that occurs when the immune system attacks the body’s nerves.

Yet that skepticism will pale by comparison to the disgust and anger Americans will feel if it turns out the public was kept in the dark about a deadly virus until a large drug company could set itself up to make maximum profits.

The Daily Expose wonders if the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases would like to explain itself in a court of law. As for an American public subjected to more than a year of often dubious admonitions to “follow the science” — even when that science and the censorship it engendered “evolved” 180 degrees away from its original proclamations — perhaps one of the oldest and most cynical explanations of all is far more apropos:

Follow the money.

Americans Think China Should Pay for COVID-19

New polls show a majority of Americans believe the coronavirus came from a Chinese lab.

Thomas Gallatin

The majority of Americans agree: Blame for unleashing the coronavirus pandemic onto the world lies with China, and the ChiComs should pay for it. A recent TIPP poll conducted for the Center for Security Policy found that 63% of Americans think China should pay some form of reparations for releasing COVID-19. That percentage jumps to 78% if it’s determined via investigations that the ChiComs intentionally released the virus.

What’s behind these significant numbers is the growing belief that COVID’s origin is due to a lab leak. Over half surveyed believe the virus “was developed in a lab.” Meanwhile, a quarter of Americans believe the virus was “intentionally” created and leaked.

Another poll, this one from Politico-Harvard, came up with similar numbers. It notes that 52% of those surveyed believe COVID came from a “laboratory leak in China.” Interestingly, the percentage of Republicans and Democrats who believe the China lab leak theory are both over 50%, at 59% and 52%, respectively.

The Politico-Harvard poll also found that the vast majority of the American public, 82%, thinks it’s “important” for the U.S. government to continue investing COVID’s origin. Politico observes, “The poll’s findings show what was once a fringe belief held mainly among some on the political right has become accepted by most Republicans, as well as most Democrats, amid heightened scrutiny of the lab leak theory.”

At least it appears we’ve found something most Americans can agree on — and this despite the fact that nearly two-thirds of everything we own comes from China.

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state lives at the expense of everyone.” —Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850)

Observations: “Obama Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told CNN, ‘I think the president ought to issue an order requiring everybody in the military to get a COVID-19 shot — period. That’s an issue involving our national security,’ he argued. ‘The last d— thing you need is to have those in the military that are our warriors unable to respond to a mission because they’ve gotten COVID-19. There’s no excuse for that.’ Interesting, considering that the same military leadership has been cheerleading the troops’ gender reassignment surgery, which renders patients completely undeployable for months. Apparently, it’s no problem if you skip out on your job for the extreme LGBT cause. But if you have a personal objection to the vaccine, well then, a handful of potential sick days is unacceptable.” —Tony Perkins

Re: The Left: “We are supposed to believe that Cuba was sunk in medieval illiteracy until enlightened Communists came to power who cared above all about social progress and just happened to jail, torture and kill lots of people in the course of teaching kids to read. … There is a revolutionary movement afoot in Cuba, one that is courageous, inspiring and — one hopes — truly democratic. It is the ordinary people of Cuba attempting to vindicate their rights against the left’s favorite dictatorship.” —Rich Lowry

Upright I: “In communist Cuba, the government-run schools teach students that America is evil. But countless Cuban youth don’t believe that. In this country, Marxists in our government-run schools are teaching our children that America is evil. And in far too many cases, the freest young people in the world actually believe it. … I’m all for a student exchange program where we send our socialist-loving students to Cuba and Cuba sends us their kids who love America.” —Gary Bauer

Upright II: “What do those abroad know that those at home don’t? That totalitarianism is far more common throughout the world, and throughout world history, than freedom; that individual rights may be universal, but they only manifest when those with the courage of their convictions fight for them; that in a world of darkness and chaos, America — for all of its flaws, both historic and present — has been and remains a force for good.” —Ben Shapiro

Double standards: “Allow me to be clear: If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States … Again, I repeat, do not risk your life attempting to enter the United States illegally. You will not come to the United States.” —DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to Central American Cuban migrants (“The new rule is that only refugees the Democrats presume will vote Republican will be turned away.” —Ben Shapiro)

Non compos mentis: “I want to unmask the lie that evolution denial is about religion and recognize that at its core, it is a form of white supremacy that perpetuates segregation and violence against Black bodies. Under the guise of ‘religious freedom,’ the legalistic wing of creationists loudly insists that their point of view deserves equal time in the classroom.” —filmmaker Allison Hopper in Scientific American

Grand delusions: “Celebrating public sexuality is an important step toward a future free of racism and homophobia.” —Yale University professor Joseph J. Fischel

And last… “Cuba’s communist dictator … has shut down the Internet in his country, called for violence against democracy protesters, & directed their arrest, imprisonment and beatings. Yet Twitter does nothing to his account. Yet they banned Donald Trump. Explain the ‘logic.’” —Clay Travis

Data transmission speed record clocks blistering 319 Terabits per second
The world record for fastest internet speed has been utterly shattered as Japanese engineers have demonstrated a data transmission rate of 319 Terabits per second (Tb/s) through optical fibers. The record was set over more than 3,000 km (1,864 miles) of fibers, and is apparently compatible with existing cable infrastructure.

Gantz: We will allow development of Gaza when they return our boys
“At the same time, we are taking care of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza as well. We will continue to do so, in cooperation with our Egyptian partners, the United Nations and other international bodies. But we demand peace and will allow development of the Gaza Strip only after the boys are returned home. If there is a need for military action and a campaign in the future, we will not hesitate,” the defense minister said,

Disturbing: 25 percent of American-Jewish voters believe Israel is an apartheid state

The fifty-two percent disagreed were split on whether or not calling Israel an apartheid state is anti-Semitic—28 percent said it was anti-Semitic, while 24 percent disagreed.

Are Teachers’ Unions Evil?
while other front-line workers, such as grocery store clerks and truck drivers, kept the material necessities of life available for all citizens. Many other workers retreated to home to work at a distance, while yet others lost their jobs and had to make do without an income. Not the teachers. Public school teachers’ unions refused to return to class even when religious and private school teachers were back in class. The evidence quickly showed that distance learning was an abject failure. Public school unions didn’t care what harm was being done to the children that they were supposed to serve. These unions decided to serve the preferences of their dues-paying teachers, who preferred to stay at home and get paid for doing so. No one could accuse public school teachers of rushing to the front lines.

Biden Rails Against Texas For “Making It Easy To Vote & Hard To Cheat” According To Gov Abbott
“Now President Biden is calling Texas names again,” Abbott said. “This time he’s chastising us for making it easy to vote but hard to cheat. And once again, President Biden ignores the facts. The fact is that Texas is passing a law that expands, not reduces the hours of early voting.”

Amid A Megadrought, Federal Water Shortage Limits Loom For The Colorado River
The Colorado River is tapped out. Another dry year has left the watershed that supplies 40 million people in the Southwest parched. A prolonged 21-year warming and drying trend is pushing the nation’s two largest reservoirs to record lows. For the first time, a shortage is expected to be declared by the federal government, this summer. The 1,450-mile-long waterway acts as a drinking water supply, a hydroelectric power generator and an irrigator of desert crop fields across seven Western U.S. states and two in Mexico. Scientists are increasingly certain that the only way forward is to rein in demands on the river’s water.

Bishop’s decree raises questions
The Rev. James Altman, pastor of St. James the Less in La Crosse, Wisconsin, posted a YouTube video last August, in which he denounced Democrats’ support for abortion. He is quoted in The New York Times as saying, “We’re seeing Satan unleashed and his minions working.” The bishop’s decree is unlikely to sit well with conservative Catholics. More than $722,000 has been raised in support of Father Altman. When the preaching of sin, hell and judgment has all but vanished from the pulpit today, the bishop’s decree to remove the pastor raises questions as to what the Church really believes.

Abraham Accords Continue Bearing End Time Fruit As United Arab Emirates Open Their Embassy In The Tel Aviv Stock Market Building Wednesday
With all that’s been going on with the riots in Cuba, the transgender takeover of society, and the relentless push for the governments of the world to force the entire human population to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, it’s easy to overlook something like the ongoing end times freight train that is the Abraham Accords. In Israel today, the UAE celebrated the opening of its embassy in the same building as the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in Israel. Ahh, the distinct odor of the ‘Two State Solution’ is wafting across my screen as I write this.

Calling the so-called “vaccine” a “bioweapon,” along with the Chinese Virus itself, Dr. McCullough alleges that the entire plandemic is a form of bioterrorism against the people, its purpose to cull and depopulate a great many of them.

“As this, in a sense, bioterrorism phase one was rolled out, it was really all about keeping the population in fear and in isolation and preparing them to accept the vaccine, which appears to be phase two of a bioterrorism operation,” McCullough stated during a recent webinar with German attorney Reiner Fuellmich and several other doctors.

“Both the respiratory virus and the vaccine delivered to the human body the spike protein, the gain of function target of this bioterrorism research.”

[VIDEO] Tucker Confirms Stunning Reports Out of GA: “Not a Conspiracy Theory…It’s True…” | LifeZette

This was the shot just heard round the world.

As you likely know by now, Tucker Carlson has not been one to delve into the 2020 election.

As a matter of fact, he drew a great deal of ire when he went after Sidney Powell, right after the election, and kinda egged her on a bit.

Many people were bothered by that because they felt like we needed all hands on deck at that time, and a lot of key players with big platforms were nowhere to be found.

Many patriots felt like they were fighting this alone and without the soldiers they needed.

It was a tough time.

However, that was then, and here we are now, and Tucker says he’s seen the facts he was waiting for all this time and now, he’s speaking out on what’s happening in Georgia.

And it’s a bomb.

You can watch the video below:

This is a big, big, big deal.

And while I wish Tucker would have been more involved in this early on, I welcome his input and his platform, now.

Instead, corporate and government media focused that day on Democrats’ calls to ditch the filibuster to push through H.R. 1, the so-called For the People Act, and the White House’s announcement that “Biden would travel to Philadelphia on Tuesday to discuss ‘actions to protect the sacred, constitutional right to vote.'”…
