CDC recommends the vaccinated wear masks in areas with low vaccination rates | NBC

CDC recommends the vaccinated wear masks in some areas

WASHINGTON — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidance on Tuesday recommending indoor mask use in areas with high transmission rates after new data suggested fully vaccinated individuals are not just contracting Covid-19 but could potentially infect others.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said recent studies had shown that those vaccinated individuals who do become infected with Covid have just as much viral load as the unvaccinated, making it possible for them to spread the virus to others. Based on that finding, Walensky said the CDC is also recommending that all school children wear masks in the fall.

“We’re seeing now that it’s actually possible if you’re a rare breakthrough infection that you can transmit further, which is the reason for the change,” Walensky said.

Administration officials still contend that the fully vaccinated represent a very small percentage of transmission, which is primarily occurring among unvaccinated people. Walensky said the decision to call a return to mask use wasn’t taken lightly, and that she hopes it will be temporary — until the ranks of the vaccinated increase, and the amount of virus circulating in the community decreases.

“It is not a welcomed piece of news that masking is going to be a part of people’s lives who have already been vaccinated,” Walensky said. “This new data weighs heavily on me, this new guidance weighed heavily on me and I just wanted to convey that this was not a decision that was taken lightly.”

The guidance comes after an internal debate among health officials: Whether to respond to these findings by simply informing the public about them or by recommending additional restrictions, including a return to uniform indoor mask use for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Administration officials had been struggling in recent days with how to respond to the rising number of Covid infections and hospitalizations among those who are fully vaccinated amid pressure from public health experts to put mask recommendations back in place. Much of Biden’s domestic agenda rides on moving the country past the pandemic and shifting the focus to other priorities, such as infrastructure and voting rights.

Biden said in a statement following the announcement that he would follow the guidance when he travels, and encouraged others to do the same. He also called on more Americans to get vaccinated and said he would detail further plans on Thursday to increase the vaccination rate.

“Today’s announcement by the CDC — that new research and concerns about the delta variant leads CDC to recommend a return to masking in parts of the country — is another step on our journey to defeating this virus. I hope all Americans who live in the areas covered by the CDC guidance will follow it. I certainly will when I travel to these areas,” Biden said.

Within the administration, there had been concern that a focus on mask use could take away a key incentive for people to get vaccinated, which they believe was a factor for many people in choosing to get the shot. Some argued the best way to keep the virus under control was to double down on efforts to get as many vaccinated as possible.

“I understand how challenging this is in terms of the vaccine hesitancy and wanting people to get the vaccine,” said Dr. Leana Wen, a former Baltimore health commissioner and a professor and physician at Georgetown University. “But the Biden administration made a serious error in the first place with their CDC guidance on masks and it is really hard to put the genie back in the bottle.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday the president will follow all CDC guidance around wearing masks when traveling to places where they are recommended.

While the Covid vaccines have led to a steep decline in new infections, deaths and hospitalizations, multiple studies have found they are less effective against the new delta variant that now accounts for the vast majority of infections in the United States.

With the virus still widely circulating in many places where there are low vaccination rates, that has put the vaccinated at increased risk the virus will break through the layer of protection. In some states, particularly in the South, just over a third of the population is fully vaccinated.

Given how infectious the variant is, some health experts are now also questioning the effectiveness of standard cloth masks and advocating for more effective masks like the KN95 to be recommended for indoor use for all, particularly among the elderly and the immunocompromised. One study found those infected with the delta variant carried 1,000 times the virus as with earlier strains.

The worrisome data comes just weeks after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said vaccinated individuals can go about their business without masks. Administration officials had been concerned a return to widespread mask mandates could actually stunt the broader vaccination drive by taking away an incentive for getting the shots.

Despite a push over the last two month by the Biden administration to increase the number of people getting vaccinated, the number of daily shots has plateaued at around 500,000 per day, and Biden has yet to reach his July 4 goal of getting 70 percent of adults at least partially vaccinated.

Just how widespread infections among the vaccinated are in the U.S. is unknown. The CDC said in May it would stop monitoring the number of infections in vaccinated people aside from cases where a fully vaccinated person was hospitalized or died. Walensky said on Monday the agency has been tracking specific groups for breakthrough infections and would be reporting that data soon.

The limited data so far has left doctors saying they feel they are flying blind in trying to assess the risk the new variant poses to their patients and relying on data out of other countries like Israel, where researchers released data last week showing the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was just 39 percent effective against preventing infection from the delta variant and 91 percent effective at preventing severe disease.

“It is a very short-sighted policy to not be collecting that data because they are worried that it will be misinterpreted by people who think vaccines don’t work,” said Christopher Murray, director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. “It is essentially making us a little blind to what is actually going on.”

But despite the lack of data from the CDC, anecdotal evidence is widespread, with high-profile cases of groups of fully vaccinated individuals getting infected — like a group of Democrats from the Texas Legislature, a White House official, a group of New York Yankees, and an Olympic athlete.

Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research at the University of Minnesota who advised the Biden transition, said he is particularly concerned about the increasing number of instances he is hearing about where groups of vaccinated individuals are becoming infected. The CDC has said the data indicates the vaccinated can’t spread the virus to other vaccinated people, but Osterholm said the clusters of cases among the vaccinated suggest otherwise.

In one cluster of more than 200 cases in Provincetown, Massachusetts, 70 percent of the Covid positive cases since July 1 have been among vaccinated individuals, Town Manager Alex Morse said in an MSNBC interview.

A small percentage of those who are fully vaccinated also continue to be hospitalized and die from the virus, particularly in areas seeing a surge in cases from the delta variant.

At the Texas Medical Center in Houston, 10 percent of more than 250 hospitalized Covid patients were vaccinated, a hospital spokesperson said. In Las Vegas, 11 percent of Covid hospitalizations in July had been fully vaccinated people, according to the Southern Nevada Health District. A spokesperson for University of Kansas Health System said July 15 that 16 percent of inpatients were fully vaccinated people.

Hospital officials added, though, that those who are vaccinated are less likely to be in the ICU or die, and nearly all who were admitted after vaccinations had serious underlying conditions.

Nationwide, the CDC has tracked more than 4,000 cases of fully vaccinated people being hospitalized with symptoms of Covid as of July 19, up 9 percent from the week earlier. The agency said a total of 849 vaccinated people have died, including 58 the week of July 12, according to data reported to the CDC by local health departments.

POLL: Majority Of Voters Reject Democrat Plan To Federalize Elections | American Lookout

The more the American people know about the Democrat plan to have the federal government take over elections, the less they like it.

A new poll shows that a strong majority opposes the idea completely.

Their plan robs the states of their power to run their own, independent elections.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Majority vote ‘No’ on Democratic plan to federalize elections

A firm majority of voters do not want the federal government involved in all the key aspects of state voting, especially voter registration, according to a new survey provided to Secrets.

In one finding that rejects Democratic voting reform efforts in Washington, a whopping 67% rejected any proposal to let the president use the Justice Department to sue states over registration efforts the White House disagrees with.

Overall, 58% want Uncle Sam’s hands off state registration procedures, according to the survey provided by the Center for Excellence in Polling, a project of the Foundation for Government Accountability.

“Research from the Center for Excellence in Polling clearly shows that removing state control from the regulation of election processes such as voter registration is unpopular among a bipartisan coalition of voters,” said Nick Stehle, FGA spokesman.

“Policymakers should keep this in mind when passing legislation related to election reform,” he added.

The Democrat plan would be a recipe for disaster. Also, don’t we have other issues to deal with right now?

Of course, one of the biggest problems is that half of the country does not trust the Democrats on this issue.

And why should they?

New wave of COVID-19 is not the fault of the unvaccinated – Washington Times

Why are President Joe Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publicly blaming and shaming “unvaccinated Americans” for this new wave of COVID-19?

Tom DeWeese is the president of American Policy Center.  Tom is one of the nation’s leading advocates of individual liberty, free enterprise, private property rights, personal privacy, back-to-basics education and American sovereignty and independence and protecting our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights.  He’s the author of Sustainable: The War on Free Enterprise, Private Property and Individuals and Erase a political novel.

As Congress gets ready for their August recess, there’s an all-out effort being made to pass the so-called infrastructure legislation before the break.  This is a budget resolution that hasn’t been fully drafted and legislators are being asked to vote on it.  It’s a bill that Senator Lindsey Graham called a “power grab” and also believes it will “…lead to the breakdown of law and order beyond what you see today.”  Others warn that it will absorb suburbs into cities.

Jim sees this as something that will help collapse the infrastructure of the freedoms of America.  Tom said, “What they’re creating is an infrastructure for a new top-down control.”  Part of the problem is the aspects of “human infrastructure” as there’s talk about adding amnesty, the Green New Deal, federally controlled universal pre-school, taxpayer subsidized childcare, free community college and low income housing.

What’s the “bait” in all of this?  It’s known as free money for states.  However, with that money comes federal control and as Tom noted, one of the main targets of this restructure plan is private property rights.  For example, the zoning to protect single family homes has been a target.  Oregon was the first state to pass legislation to eliminate such zoning protections.  The mayor of Minneapolis called zoning for single family homes racist.

Another factor in all of this is what Tom described as environmental racism.  This has to do with the idea that lower income neighborhoods are often in areas where there are factories and industry and some feel it’s not fair for people to have to live there.

Guilty, Anyone? — The Aquila Report

Here is a last word. A worldview without forgiveness, such as the worldview of CRT, offers no hope. There is no vision of a world in which this sin is defeated or redeemed, much less one in which the guilty are forgiven and restored. But the great message the gospel brings to the world and serves as a reminder to the church is this: When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven” (Luke 5:20).

How easy it is for us to feel guilty and to make others feel guilty. The damning accusation of racism divides both the culture and the church because it is one of the most deeply felt indictments one could hear. Such an indictment creates guilt and shame in the accused, yet it is deeply subjective. Anyone trying to know whether someone else, or even oneself, is racist is making a subjective evaluation, which is, therefore, inevitably divisive. Has a racist offense been given or taken? Is it systemic? Is it the result of personal insecurity? Was it intended? Did it stem from hatred? It would seem that on this subject there will always be dissention, especially since the current ideology is now using such subjective assumptions politically, promising to produce national and societal unity. Such an approach, I daresay, will never attain unity. On the contrary; it stirs up dissent and bitterness.

Determining Guilt

Vasko Kohlmayer, born and raised in formerly communist Czechoslovakia,[1] has written a deep analysis of modern culture in which he identifies various forms of guilt that arise from those accused of racism.[2] Some, he points out, are guilty out of fear, fear of the politically correct negative repercussions or outright punishment for disagreeing with modern racist theories. Others “do not wish to stand out or draw unwanted attention to themselves.” Some whites “keep pushing the idea of America the racist because they receive some benefit from it, be it political power, money, or influence.” In this category Kohlmayer places “white politicians who seek to increase their share of black vote through this kind of demagoguery.” Kohlmayer, a first-hand witness of communism in his youth, can imagine some who just love “the plain satisfaction of wreaking havoc in their country.” Others confess to guilt because they wish to “make the impression of being good, compassionate and enlightened.” This is doubtless the reason why the charge of racism will continue to be heard, as a convenient source of accusation and of personal moral superiority for a long time to come.[3]

Recognizing the deep place of guilt in human society, Kohlmayer asks, “What is the real source of this guilt and why do they so eagerly embrace the false charge of racism as an excuse for their public acts of self-flagellation?”

He concludes that “some white Americans are so eager to plead guilty when charged with the (nonexistent) charge of racism” because “it gives them a convenient scapegoat on which to pin the sense of guilt that gnaws on the human psyche. [T]hey seize on this false opportunity in hope of cleansing themselves of their sense of sinfulness.”[4]

Kohlmayer is convinced that “whatever faults the United States may have…it is certainly not a racist society.” In his article,[5] he reminds us that the American system often favors black people at the expense of the rest; that America has not been institutionally racist for a good half a century; that the United States is the number one immigration destination of black people worldwide; that instead of court cases accusing authorities of abusing civil rights laws, there are hundreds of black mayors, Representatives, Senators, District attorneys, and a black president elected twice. He concludes: “the charges of racism against America are plainly untrue.”

In spite of the dubious nature of the charge of systemic racism, the Department of Education and mainstream media are supporting efforts to indoctrinate our children with critical race theory, which makes the general accusation that there is widespread systemic racism against black and Hispanic Americans in modern American society, requiring extensive government redress.[6]

Defining Racism

But there is another massive problem in addition to the problem of guilt, namely the entirely subjective and nebulous definition of racism itself. If racism cannot be clearly defined, the accused find themselves grappling with guilt for indefinable reasons.

A case in point is a popular proponent of antiracism, Ibram X. Kendi, the extraordinarily wealthy “expert” on racism, whom Time Magazine names as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Kendi has written a major, well-researched book of 608 pages, Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America,[7] as well as a more popular book: How to Be an Antiracist,[8] now read by millions. In these two works, he essentially labels everything he doesn’t like as racism: “Racist and antiracist are not fixed identities. We can be racist one minute and an antiracist the next.”[9] Interestingly, Blacks can be racists too. Those blacks who succeed in a white culture (as Kendi has done, more than most whites)are conveniently dismissed by him as assimilationists, that is, blacks who have become whites, and thus, by his definition have become racists. This was the great failing of his black parents, Larry and Carol Rogers. One became an accountant, and the other a business analyst, on whom Kendi depended for his launch into success. “My parents… fed me the mantra that education and hard work would uplift me, just as it had uplifted them.”[10] This mantra is racist. They bought into the racist norms of white culture, in which they succeeded. The title of Daniel Greenfield’s article on Kendi is sad but accurate: “Ibram X. Kendi’s Parents Worked to Give Him a Good Life. He Called Them Racists.” The subtitle is even more disturbing: “Critical Race Theory Makes Children into Enemies of their Parents.”

This is what might be considered a “trivial” form of racism, by which a black kid succeeds in white culture and resents it. Other trivial forms help nevertheless to construct the racist ideology. Dominique Wilkins, a Hall of Famer, complained of discrimination in the pages of the Daily Mail. Wilkins described an experience in which a greeter of Le Bilboquet, an upscale Atlanta restaurant, looked him up and down then refused to seat him on the grounds that they were trying to “keep a level of elegance.” Does the fact that one doorman refused service to a black man make the culture racist? Wilkins then says, seeking to shame the restaurant: “I’ve never got turned down by a single restaurant in my life until this new restaurant. I’ve been to all the top restaurants in the city – that’s better food – and they’ve never turned me down.”[11] In what way does “one” rejection as over against “all” the other restaurants prove systemic racism, as so many contend? When white supremacy is defined as the imposition on blacks of general norms of politeness, rationality and punctuality, then anything is racist and any commonly imposed standard in any culture, whether white, brown, yellow or black, are supremacist—just name the color or race, depending where you live. The term becomes so all-inclusive that it becomes indefinable—yet you must always feel guilty!

Kendi’s entire worldview, despite its trappings of sham Africanism, is white.[12] Kendi’s success depends upon his massive and moving historical account of the experience of blacks in America, beginning with the descriptions of black suffering in southern slavery, and then describing the post-war Jim Crow era evils of inhuman treatment and lynching. These incidents are despicable and it is important to recognize them as the hatred they are. But his emotive appeals to the past to give content to his present descriptions of “racism” fail to convince, since his sense of racism stems from the common sense approach his parents took in dealing with a dangerous world: his father put a basketball court in their backyard because he was worried about his son getting shot. In the end Ibram X. Kendi cannot define racism. In the keynote address at the American Federation of Teachers’ (AFT) he claims: “There is no in-between safe space of being ‘not racist.’ The claim of ‘not racist’ neutrality is a mask for racism.” But who is to know the heart and who has the authority to say what is true?

Politics to the Rescue?

Guilt-inducing racism is being employed as a political tool, imposed on the schools, teaching children that they are collectively and individually responsible for racism by virtue of their skin color. It is now taught in the corporations and the military, creating a general sense of guilt where no specific cases of racism can be identified—thus having to use vague terms like “unconscious bias,” “implicit bias” and “structural racism,” which produce in political terms disempowerment for “the guilty racists” and empowerment for the pure accusers.

Gen. Raymond, the Chief of Space Operations, told the “guardians” of the Space Force that their oath to protect and defend the Constitution meant racism was “an enemy we must defeat” by fighting unconscious biases and owning the problem by having “uncomfortable conversations.”[13] Buzz words like “unconscious bias” and “implicit bias” and “structural racism” (illegal under the 1964 Civil Rights Act) give the ideological game away. As Daniel Greenfield notes: “When there are no significant racists, the promoters of systemic racism conspiracy theories claim that they’re hiding in the shadows. At the time the country ratified the United States Constitution, it codified white supremacy as the law of the land. “Systemic racism” was outlawed under the 1964 Civil Rights Act, so if it existed there would be a flood of lawsuits and billions of dollars in penalties. There is no such flood because ‘systemic racism’ remains chiefly in the ideologically twisted minds of leftists and the people they seduce.”[14] The Airforce is also under attack. Its Office of the Inspector General has also been tasked with producing the controversial report alleging systemic racism in the Air Force. Essentially, citizenship, and thus politics, is being reduced to highly subjective personal identity issues that keep changing.

The dangers of employing racist ideology for political reasons becomes clear as Kendi separates the national culture into tribes based on skin color and ethnicity. The accusation of racism that Kendi presents has to go beyond the “faults” of his pro-white parents, otherwise the problem disappears. But for ideologues the problem must not disappear. In order that it not disappear, blacks must understand the ideology of distinctive black culture, a developing movement called black nationalism. Kendi, raised as Henry Rogers, now proves his black nationalism by his name change to a truly “African” name: Ibram Kendi. Black nationalism is based in part on academic Black Studies and the anti-white and anti-Semitic teaching of Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. This mythological explanation argues that whites are an inferior race that committed the “black African Holocaust,” and who were created by an evil wizard, Yacub.[15]

More seriously, but just as dangerous, is the theory of white racism proposed by Dr. Donald Moss, a white psychologist, in his recently published article in the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association. With great academic seriousness, Moss argues that white people possess an “entitled dominion” that enables the “host” to wield power “without limit, force without restriction, violence without mercy,” and increases one’s desire to “terrorize.”[16] A further talk, entitled “Psychopathic Problem of the White Mind,” by psychiatrist Dr. Aruna Khilanani, was delivered at Yale to medical students and faculty in April 2021. During the talk Khilanani confessed to the desire to want to shoot white people in the head “in order to do the world a favor.”[17]

Tribal Racism and Group Power

Racism in these cases is defined in tribal terms of group power, not in the unifying civic terms of the original Founders, who believed that “all human individuals are created equal” and that every individual’s opinion must be respected. As a social theory, this “tribal group” theory will divide the culture, and perhaps that is its goal. The nation is becoming fundamentally divided with unfalsifiable accusations, making social alliances depend on tribal divisions.

The irony, as Greenfield notes, is that “today’s black nationalist is a suburban college kid nurtured by a middle class, two-parent family, [a kid] who denounces the suburbs, the middle class, and families like his as racist.”[18] That is, in the words of Shakespeare, “much to do about nothing.” But it is a serious business. It is leading the country into the kind of warmed-up Marxism that Kendi and other radicals peddle as essential to their identity politics. Kendi and other movement leaders, such as those in the Black Lives Matter movement, have tasted power by guilting the society of racist evil. They now want to transform guilty America into a communist nation. Kendi has called for the end of capitalism. “He wants to overthrow the system by becoming the system,”[19] and Patrice Cullors of BLM is seeking a Marxist regime in place of the present system. All are using Critical Race Theory to bring down the present civilization based on individual rights and reasoned discourse.

Christian Reactions

The danger for Christians is to begin affirming a kind of “spiritual” social justice that is deeply connected to revolutionary politics. The goal of wokeness is a unified culture, which turns out to be a Marxist utopia controlled by sinful, fallible human beings—a system in which God is totally absent. This is a final political form of pagan Oneism, which is a definition of hell, as many examples of past Marxism shows. Take for instance the diabolical rule of Stalin. As head of the party, he personally arrested top Soviet leaders, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Bukharin, Yagoda, Radek and others, forced them to “confess” their questioning of his wisdom, and then murdered them.[20] Stalin decided to eliminate all the successful farmers in the Ukraine by forcing them to work on collective farms and to sell their wheat to enrich Soviet Russia “for the good of the party.” He also kept wheat from those who were raising it, which led to the death of four million Ukrainians by starvation, which, in turn, gave rise to the Ukrainian term Holodomor (Holor: starvation, and Mor: death). This crime was kept secret from the West by the Soviet regime, and was denounced by just one brave Western journalist, a Welshman, Gareth Jones, who was murdered for his pains.[21] The danger for the church is the same as that for the German church in the 1930s, which affirmed the rise of Germany and never denounced the evil anti-semitic ideology—producing enormous amounts of genuine guilt when the holocaust became known.

One wonders how the church will deal with endlessly subjective racial guilt and deep division, as Voddie Baucham warns in his book, Fault Lines. He predicts “a disagreement between well-meaning brothers and sisters” and sees the environment within evangelicalism as in some sense already “hostile,” as we approach “an unavoidable…catastrophe.” So deep are the fault lines, he believes, that “the question is not if but when the catastrophe strikes.”[22]

Christianity is the sole hope for a society breaking apart. It is the only God-given, truthful source to provide a universal understanding of human dignity and human equality, taken for granted by many thinking people.[23] These notions are the only hope for uniting humanity and solving problems like racism. Scripture begins with a principle of Creator/creation Twoism. As creatures, we all share the same humanity because we were all made by the same Creator. Yet we are distinct from one another and distinct in our very essence from the Creator himself, while still bearing his image. For this reason, all humanity is united, no matter what tribe we belong to. God’s values apply to all tribes, nations and races. We all carry the same stain of sin and the same longing for deliverance. Our common identity and morality hold humanity together. Our only hope is the atoning death of our common Creator who took on our humanity and died for our salvation. In Christianity, there are not two forms of humanity, as in the CRT system, where there are the evil oppressors and the noble oppressed. In Scripture there are individual sinners who sin in different ways by breaking God’s various laws, but need forgiveness in the same way.

Racism is a sin. According to Merriam Webster, racism is: “a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.” Such a view of humanity never appears in the Bible, which declares all human beings as created (originally) good and equally in God’s image. Though God recognizes distinct nations and tribes (see Acts 17:26, for example), those nations are “made one” in Christ (Eph 2:13–14). There is no place for racism. In fact, Jesus says: “Love your enemies: Do good to those who hate you” (Luke 6:27). Christians must respond to this command in obedience. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a mixture of all kinds of tongues and races, anticipating the heavenly, multi-racial event:

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands (Rev 7:9).

Showing hatred to your brother or sister is a sin that must be confessed, and in Scripture there is a process for this, with the goal of forgiveness. The solution is not general accusations or constant slurs but moral confrontation.

If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector (Matthew18:16-17).

This granting of forgiveness said Jesus, was to be done “seventy times seven” (Matt 18;22). CRT limits sin to human oppression. There is no sense of sin against a merciful God. In this view, oppressors are forever guilty and the oppressed are always innocent. This means that genuine forgiveness and reconciliation are ruled out a priori. In the Bible, the universality of human guilt before God destroys the convenient but false binary of bad oppressor and good oppressed, a situation in which there is no room for forgiveness.

He states: “The Great Leap Forward, Mao’s Communist utopian experiment, starved 30 million Chinese people to death. The Cultural Revolution Mao launched destroyed 3,000 years of Chinese cultural heritage, murdered tens of thousands of people, and led to economic collapse in China…. Deng Xiaoping wisely abandoned most of the Communist ideology and started learning from the West after he took power in 1978. Politically, Deng stopped the Communist Class Struggle Movement. Economically, he gradually abolished the Communist doctrine of state ownership and planned economy and introduced private ownership, the free-market system, and modern technologies from the West. …In spite of its economic and technological progress, the Chinese government has not provided individual and political freedom to its people…. To pursue individual freedom, tens of thousands of Chinese emigrate to industrial nations each year. Their favorite destination is America. …In the late 18thcentury, America was founded upon a number of key principles: freedom of speech, rule of the law, the free-market system, checks and balances, democracy, equality, and meritocracy. Since then, Americans have led the world [in so many areas].” … And thanks to the civil-rights movement, America again lived up to its founding principles, abolishing all the laws that discriminated against black and Hispanic Americans.”

Guilty, Anyone? — The Aquila Report

Let’s Compare The U.S. Economy Before The Pandemic To The U.S. Economy Today — The Economic Collapse

Throughout the first half of 2021, there was a tremendous amount of optimism about the U.S. economy.  Many believed that the pandemic would soon be behind us and that a new era of great prosperity would soon be upon us.  But now the optimism that we witnessed is fading as Americans become increasingly concerned about inflation, shortages and rising debt levels.  Our leaders created, borrowed and spent trillions upon trillions of dollars in a desperate attempt to get our economy back on track, and it turns out that all of that money didn’t really have the enormous impact that they had hoped.  On the other hand, inflation is now beginning to spiral out of control, and many are comparing this time in our history to the Jimmy Carter era of the 1970s.

In this article, I would like to compare the state of the economy today to the state of the economy just before the pandemic started sweeping across the country.

As you will see, it appears that a tremendous amount of long-term damage has been done.

Let’s start by talking about employment.  Just before the pandemic hit, 152 million Americans were employed, but today only 145 million Americans are currently employed.

Many economists are telling us that it will probably take a number of years for employment to return to pre-pandemic levels, but that also assumes that we will not be facing another major economic downturn in the near future.

Needless to say, I do not share that rosy assessment.

The number of Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force” has also not returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Just before the pandemic, 95 million Americans were considered to be “not in the labor force”, but now that number is up to more than 100 million.

We are being told that unemployment is “low” in this country even though more than 100 million people do not have jobs right now.

But according to John Williams of shadowstats.com, if honest numbers were being used the unemployment rate would currently be above 25 percent.

The good news is that at least we are not at 35 percent like we were during the peak of the pandemic.

Our politicians realized that things were really, really bad in 2020, and so they started spending money at a rate that we have never seen before.

All of this spending pushed our national debt from 23 trillion dollars prior to the pandemic to more than 28 trillion dollars today.

This is complete and utter insanity, but at least our politicians have been more restrained than the Federal Reserve has been.

During this pandemic, the size of the Fed balance sheet has nearly doubled.  It was sitting at about four trillion dollarsjust before the pandemic, and it has grown to more than eight trillion dollars today.

“Economic malpractice” is way too soft a term to describe what the Fed has been doing.

If the American people truly understood the Fed and what it has been doing to our currency, there would be wild protests in the streets tomorrow morning.

Collectively, our politicians and the Federal Reserve have pushed the size of our money supply to dizzying heights.  Just before the pandemic, M2 was sitting at about 15 trillion dollars, and now it has crossed the 20 trillion dollar threshold.

Anyone that believed that we could do this without causing rip-roaring inflation was just being delusional.

Just look at what has been happening to home prices.  They have been rising at the fastest pace ever recorded, and families all over America are feeling the pain.

A few days ago, I published an article in which I explained that home prices are 23 percent higher than they were at this time one year ago…

The median price for an existing home in June hit an all-time high of $363,300, up 23% over last year. That marks 112 straight months of year-over-year gains.

Needless to say, the vast majority of Americans have not had their paychecks increase by 23 percent over the past year.

The gap between the ultra-wealthy and the rest of us just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and the middle class is shrinking a little bit more with each passing month.

These days, we also have widespread shortages to deal with.  Prior to the pandemic, I don’t remember ever hearing about any major shortages, but now they are all around us.

In particular, the chip shortage has been incredibly painful for a lot of Americans, and the CEO of Intel is now telling us that it could last into 2023

One of the leading voices in the semiconductor industry sees the chip-supply problems stretching as far as 2023.

It could take one or two years to get back to a reasonable supply-and-demand balance in the semiconductor industry, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal after the company posted second-quarter earnings on Thursday. “We have a long way to go yet,” he said. “It just takes a long time to build [manufacturing] capacity.”

At first, a lot of Americans believed our leaders when they were told that wonderful days were just around the corner.

But now reality is starting to set in.

Faith in “the recovery” is fading, and at this point more than half of all Americans believe that the economy is in poor shape…

Fewer than half of Americans, 45 percent, judge the economy to be in good shape, while 54 percent say it’s in poor shape, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Views are similar to what they were in AP-NORC polls in June and in March, despite increases in vaccinations and the flow of aid from Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package.

If most Americans are dissatisfied with the economy today, how will they be feeling if economic conditions are even worse six months from now?

In my opinion, we should be very thankful that economic conditions have been relatively stable in recent months, because the long-term outlook for our economy is not good at all.

Our leaders are literally in the process of committing national financial suicide, and the whole world will be affected since we produce the reserve currency that the entire planet depends upon.

So enjoy these relatively good times while you still can, because eventually they will be gone for good.

Rejoicing in Nature
Job 36:24–33; Psalm 8:3–4; 19:1–5

In those vernal seasons of the year, when the air is calm and pleasant, it were an injury and sullenness against nature not to go out, and see her riches, and partake in her rejoicing with heaven and earth.

Live a Life You Won’t Regret at the Hour of Death
Deuteronomy 6:5; 10:12–13; Joshua 22:5; 1 Samuel 12:24; Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27; Romans 12:1–2

As in the hour of death you will certainly be sorry that you have not employed all your time in the service of God, why is it that you do not now so employ your time, as you will wish you had done when you shall come to die?

Famine and Then Feast — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land…” Ruth 1:1

On every side we are faced with world hunger. Many people reading these words think about hunger only in personal terms. For example, “What will we prepare for dinner?” or “This diet is making me hungry” or “Next week I’ll contribute canned goods to the local food pantry.” But we cringe when we see pictures of babies with bloated stomachs, babies too weak to nurse from their mother’s breast and we open our wallets to help meet the staggering needs. When tragedy strikes, the universal need for food and support is recognized.

But we are also faced with other kinds of hunger – hunger that cannot be satisfied with another shipment of grain or rice. The words in the beginning of the narrative about Naomi and Ruth are stark in their simplicity: In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. There was no alternative except to leave all that was familiar, comfortable, and predictable and search for a place where food could be found.

Many of us experience famine even though we may never have to leave our homeland to search for food. The word is not limited to lack of food; its broad meaning includes deprivation, shortage and want. We may be deprived of the kind of love we were led to believe marriage would supply. We may be short of affirmation from our peers or superiors. We may fall short of believing in ourselves, lacking in hope, comfort or joy. We may think that God Himself is absent.

If you know the story, you know that when these women heard that the famine was over in Naomi’s homeland, they decided to travel back to a place of familiarity. Although Naomi and Ruth eventually found food, they were otherwise left without any visible means of physical or emotional support when their husbands died. This was not short-term deprivation; the biblical text indicates that they lived well over ten years in the midst of loss.

Ultimately God worked wonders that would trickle down to affect the lives of both Jews and Christians. (King David and our Savior Jesus Christ find Ruth in their lineage.)

But it did not happen quickly or without pain. They experienced profound loss in their journey. The God who walked with them through the famine brought them finally to the feast of fullness. He promises to do the same for us but the timing might not be what we expect. Just like in the lives of Naomi and Ruth, God’s answers may come in surprising ways.

Lord, I am going through a famine in (name area of your life). Would You help me to lean into You and trust that You will bring me into a feast of fullness? Thank You for your never ending love. Amen.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” Mark 9:23 (KJV).

My doing all depends on thy believing” is what Jesus really said to the desperate father of the demoniac boy. And it is what He says to you and me today.

The Lord sought to bring forth faith in that struggling soul, and – through pain and travail – it came to birth. Realizing that the solution rested not upon God’s power but upon his own faith, the man became conscious of conflicting principles and delivered himself of a noble utterance:

Lord, I believe, help Thou mine unbelief.”

Mystery of mysteries: even the very faith that we must exercise to bring down the power of God is a gift from God Himself. But some conditions are laid down before we receive that gift of faith.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

When I spend time in God’s Word – whether reading, studying, memorizing or meditating – that faith is being built up in me. Not faith in myself, not faith in a routine, but faith in the almighty ruler of heaven and earth.

That physical illness; that unsaved loved one; that financial need; that faltering relationship; that broken home – whatever the need might be – the solution is as close as the Word of God, for our dependence upon it, and upon the God of the Word, brings the faith that unlocks the solution to every need.

Mark 9:24-29

New International Version

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.[a]

Let Our Rule of Faith Be the Bible
Exodus 24:3; Deuteronomy 17:19; Psalm 119:160; Acts 17:10–12

Let us read the Bible regularly, daily, and with fervent prayer, and become familiar with its contents. Let us receive nothing, believe nothing, follow nothing, which is not in the Bible, nor can be proved by the Bible. Let our rule of faith, our touch-stone of all teaching, be the written Word of God.

Know What You Are, and Do Not Care What Others Say
1 Samuel 16:7; Proverbs 16:2; John 7:24; 2 Corinthians 10:7

Praise adds nothing to your holiness, nor does blame take anything from it. You are what you are, and you cannot be said to be better than you are in God’s sight. If you consider well what you are within, you will not care what men say about you. They look to appearances but God looks to the heart. They consider the deed but God weighs the motive.

The heretical nature of Charles Finney’s theology — Christian Research Network

“While there are no explicit proponents of Finney’s views today, his influence can be seen in some Charismatic and Pentecostal groups.”

(Reformation Charlotte)  Finney-ism is a bit of a misnomer as there never was an actual school of theological thought or a movement named for Charles Grandison Finney, the subject of this article. However, Finney was both a man of renown in 19th century American religious life and most definitely a heretic.

Finney was a former New York lawyer who was allegedly converted to Christianity in the early 1820s and a key figure in the so called “Second Great Awakening” of the early 1830s.” View article →

Fauci’s Claim That 99.2% of COVID Deaths Are Unvaccinated Was a Big Filthy Lie | Anti-Empire

In the last few weeks, politicians and senior public health officials have insisted over and over that unvaccinated Americans account for essentially ALL of the deaths of people from Covid.

At a White House press briefing on July 22, for example, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said that “99.5 percent of Covid deaths and 97 percent of hospitalizations are [emphasis added] among the unvaccinated.”

Note that “are,” please. Are is PRESENT tense, something happening NOW.

Murthy isn’t alone.

On Independence Day, Dr. Anthony Fauci answered a question on Meet The Press about deaths IN JUNE by saying that “if you look at the number of deaths, 99.2 percent of them are unvaccinated. About 0.8 percent are vaccinated.”

To be clear on the math here, Fauci’s answer would imply that only about 80 vaccinated people – 0.8 percent of 10,000 – died in June.

These are – how do I put this delicately? – big fat stinking lies. They are off by a factor of at least five, and probably 10 or more.

Let’s put aside that the way public health authorities define vaccinated is NOT the way most people think of being vaccinated. Had one shot of either the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines? You’re not vaccinated. Had two? Still not vaccinated, not for two weeks.

In countries where health authorities are more honest, statistics on hospitalizations and deaths have three categories – “fully” vaccinated, “partially” vaccinated, and “unvaccinated.” Many cases fall in the middle category. In fact, data show that the vaccines can cause an increase in infections and deaths for up to two weeks after the first dose, possibly because they temporarily suppress immunity by recruiting so many white blood cells to the area of the injection.

The truth is that if we were treating vaccines like other drugs, we would include the “partially” vaccinated cases in the “vaccinated” category because they have occurred AFTER treatment has begun.

The United States does the opposite. When it reports statistics on vaccine hospitalizations or deaths, it ignores partly vaccinated people. They are lumped with those who have never received a dose as “unvaccinated.”

This trick is particularly galling now that the vaccine companies and the government have acknowledged the fact that the mRNA shots begin to lose their protective effect in a matter of months and that many people will need boosters soon.

It is no longer even clear whether “vaccine” is right term to describe these therapies. Most other vaccines protect for decades, if not a lifetime. (The main exceptions, the influenza vaccines, are known to be only marginally effective and have done almost nothing to reduce the virulence of the flu over a multi-decade span.)

But as I said, even putting aside the issue of how we classify the partially vaccinated, Fauci and Murthy lied about what percentage of coronavirus deaths are now occurring in FULLY vaccinated people. It is much higher than the sub-1 percent figures they offered.

This fact should have been obvious to anyone who has seen the data from England, Scotland, and Israel. Those countries vaccinated a greater percentage of their populations more quickly than the United States. They have also been much more transparent about reporting hospitalizations and deaths among vaccinated people. And in all three countries, hospitalizations and deaths have spiked since May – and vaccinated people have accounted for more than HALF of all deaths recently.

The difference does not come from the type of vaccines, either. Israel used only the Pfizer vaccine, which until recently was considered the better of the two mRNA vaccines. The United Kingdom gave many Pfizer doses too.

So the comments from Fauci and Murthy defied credibility – how could other countries have so many more deaths in their vaccinated populations?

The answer is that Fauci and Murthy are – intentionally – using the wrong denominator. They say “now” or “are.”

But they are comparing deaths among the fully vaccinated – which have essentially been an issue only since May – with ALL deaths beginning from the day the United States offered its FIRST vaccine dose (or even possibly from the beginning of the epidemic).

The United States has had roughly a quarter-million deaths from Covid this year (the CDC reports 216,000, a number that will rise somewhat). It has had closer to 300,000 since the first dose was offered on Dec. 14. But more than half those deaths occurred in December and January, when essentially no one was fully vaccinated. Not even 2 percent of Americans were fully vaccinated as of February 1.

Deaths began to fall in February. After March 1 – when only 1 in 13 Americans were fully vaccinated – they plunged further. In the five months since, perhaps 80,000 people have died from (or with) Covid – fewer than died in January alone.

Vaccine advocates rarely acknowledge the fact that deaths started dropping long before most people had received shots. In reality, even acknowledging that many people who received vaccines in January and February were older and vulnerable, seasonality and herd immunity seem to have had a greater impact on broad Covid trends than vaccinations.

But for the advocates, the big winter death numbers are handy in one way – they make the breakthrough numbers seem tiny.

While Israel and the United Kingdom are rigorous about reporting Covid and vaccine data, the United States is not. Only a few states report breakthrough numbers with any regularity. The Centers for Disease Control does not, either.

Instead, the numbers dribble out essentially at random. But enough states have reported over time that we can say with certainty that the United States had almost no breakthrough deaths before April, and very few in April. For example, Minnesota reported none as of March 24. Washington state said it was investigating two as of March 31. Nationally, the CDC reported 160 deaths as of April 30.

Essentially ALL the “fully vaccinated” breakthrough cases and deaths have come since May. As of June 21, the CDC reported 750 deaths nationally. As of July 19, the number had risen to 1141.

All by itself, those figures prove Fauci lied when he told Chuck Todd on July 4 that 0.8 percent of deaths “are” in vaccinated people. The CDC currently reports about 24,000 deaths since May 1 (CDC reporting lags state reporting) – which would mean that fully vaccinated deaths have been about 4 percent of the total since then, FIVE TIMES what Fauci claimed. It is simply impossible that only 80 fully vaccinated people died in June, based on the CDC’s own data.

The real percentage is likely significantly higher. Breakthrough cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have all swung up recently, and the CDC’s lags mean that it has not caught up.

For example, Illinois is now reporting 159 deaths, New York City reported 94 through mid-June, and Massachusetts 80, North Carolina 61, Washington state 45, and Oklahoma 19 as of mid-July. That’s 458 deaths in geographically diverse states (and a city) with a combined population of roughly 50 million, just over 1/7 of the United States population. That implies as many as 3,000 vaccine breakthrough deaths nationally, almost all since May 1. (California and Texas have reported relatively low numbers of deaths, but it is not clear if they actually have fewer or are just counting very slowly.)

The CDC’s reporting lag means that the actual total number of COVID deaths since May 1 is closer to 35,000 than its reported figure. If 3,000 vaccine breakthrough deaths have occurred since then, they’re running closer to 10 percent than 1 percent of total Covid deaths.

Further, in those few states that report regularly enough for trends to be clear, including Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Oklahoma, the total percentage has crept over 10 percent in the last couple of weeks.

The tragedy here is that Fauci and Murthy DON’T have to lie.

If 5 percent, or 10 percent, or even 15 percent of American Covid deaths are currently occurring in fully vaccinated people, that’s impressive protection considering that more than half of adults have been vaccinated – and more than 80 percent of the elderly, who are most vulnerable. The vaccines look to be holding up better in the United States than Israel, the most comparable country (though whether that gap will continue is not clear, since the United States was a few weeks behind Israel in its vaccination campaign and Israeli cases and hospitalizations have surged this month).

But they won’t offer the real numbers. And as they hype the Delta variant, they refuse to admit the United States has had far fewer Covid deaths overall in July 2021 as in 2020 (while the United Kingdom is now reporting more deaths now than it did in late July 2020, despite having better overall vaccine coverage).

Their reluctance is part of a much larger problem, the unwillingness to offer a serious cost-benefit analysis of the vaccines. Because the truth is messy. The vaccines are clearly far from the miracle that the initial reports promised last November.

Yes, they appear to offer decent protection in the short run. But they don’t end transmission, and their effectiveness is fading fast in the most vulnerable people. Their side effects are real and worsen with the second dose. Their greatest benefit by far is for the elderly.

Instead, of admitting these truths, the vaccine fanatics insist on offering numbers they must know are false – as, increasingly, they attack those Americans who choose not to be vaccinated.

And demonize those of us who point out the truth.

There were other factors in play, of course, but in retrospect, Mueller’s performance was highly instructive.

An obedient Marine, Mueller saluted and followed orders from a corrupt Justice Department and an FBI with lots of shenanigans – and much worse – to hide. Not to mention the incessant “guidance” Mueller and team got from an equally corrupt mainstream media, drumming Trump-Russia perfidy into the consciousness of all Americans.

All Mueller had to do was delay announcing that he and his platoon of sharpshooter lawyers could find nothing to prove media accusations that Trump was in Putin’s pocket. He slow-walked the investigation, allowing the Trump-Putin festering conspiracy charges to infect voters as they went to the polls in Nov. 2018. It worked like a charm. The Dems flipped the House.

Although visibly frail physically, Muller seemed to be fully compos mentis on May 17, 2017, when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named him special counsel to investigate alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. No doubt he was aware he was being used. But with the corporate media singing his praises as “universally respected,” what’s not to like about seizing the limelight by ostentatiously appearing to shun it?

American Women’s Soccer Team Defeated After Opponents Play U.S. National Anthem During Game Forcing Them To Kneel The Whole Time — The Babylon Bee

TOKYO—The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team’s Olympic hopes are once again in jeopardy after opponents came up with a clever way to defeat them: playing the U.S. national anthem during every game so that the women have to kneel the entire time.

It’s a move many are calling the “greatest 4D chess move of all time.” Some are even saying it’s the most important strategy developed in soccer since the kick was invented. Many are hopeful it will even get Americans interested in watching soccer again.

“It’s a genius strategy,” said one commentator as a singer on the sidelines began singing, “O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light” over the stadium’s sound system. Megan Rapinoe was going to intercept a pass but dutifully took a knee and was forced to turn over the ball to the other team, or however it is that soccer works. “Beautiful play there! It’s going to be tough to see the U.S. women recover from this one!”

“Oooh, and now the singer is going hard into the ‘home of the brave’ stanza, really forcing the U.S. women to stay kneeling. “Wicked brilliant!” (We are told “wicked brilliant” means “cool” or “dope” in British.)

At the end of their first match in which the opposing team employed this tactic, the women lost 27-1, having scored one goal when Rapinoe stood up briefly when the singer ran out of breath.
